WHILE ON VACATION I WAS DRIVING DURING A RAIN STORM AND MY PASSENGER NOTICED WATER COMING FROM THE PLASTIC HANDLE INSIDE THE CAB. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND WATER STAINS ON THE HEADLINER ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND IN THE REAR OF THE CAB AT BOTH CORNERS. MY BUMPER TO BUMPER EXPIRED LAST MONTH, I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD AND REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN LEAKING I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. MY MAJOR ISSUE IS THE FACT THAT THE MOLD AND MILDEW IS A MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE AND NOW I HAVE TO WONDER IF MOLD SPORES IS THE CAUSE OF THE RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS I HAVE BEEN HAVING. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM!!! *TR
I WA TRAVELING ON I-20 EAST TRAVELING FROM VICKSBURG, MS HEADING TO ATLANTA, GA. I HAD BEEN USING THE CRUISE CONTROL CONSISTENTLY FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS. I ALSO WAS USING THE ACCELERATE & DECELERATE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING COLUMN. I APPROACHED A SLIGHT CURVE IN BIRMINGHAM, AL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL LOCKED IN AT 60 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FULL THROTTLE. I APPLIED FOOT PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 85 MPH. I THEN SOMEWHAT RAISED UP IN THE SEAT TO APPLY ALL THE FOOT PRESSURE I COULD TO THE BRAKE. IT SLOWED DOWN SLIGHTLY. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, IT BEGAN TO SPEED UP AGAIN. NEXT I FUMBLED WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS TO SEE IF THEY WERE STUCK. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. FINALLY, I MOVED THE GEAR SHIFT TO NEUTRAL & THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE BACK IN DRIVE, EVERYTHING APPEARED TO BE NORMAL. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I DID NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL ANYMORE. THANK GOD, WE SURVIVED! *TR
DRIVING SOWN ROAD, A/C FAN QUIT AND SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE VENTS. A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE DASH ON PASSENGER SIDE. *JS
WHILE MY TRUCK WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, WE HAD A VERY BAD TROPICAL STORM COME THROUGH, WHEN I WENT TO GET IN MY TRUCK I NOTICED THAT MY BACK SEAT WAS WET AND THE BACK OF MY HEAD LINING WAS WET AND HAD WATER SPOTS ON IT. SO I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER THINKING MY REAR WINDOW WAS LEAKING, BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY THIRD BRAKE LIGHT AND THE SEAL AROUND IT WAS BAD. SO INSTEAD OF IT BEING COVERED UNDER THE TRUCKS WARRANTY THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED PLUS PAY FOR MY SEATS TO BE CLEANED FROM THE WATER DAMAGE. BECAUSE IT IS STILL RAINING I DID NOT HAVE NO CHOICE, BUT I THINK THAT IF FORD HAVE HAD ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS HAPPENING TO OTHER VEHICLES, THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS AND WATER DAMAGE CAUSED BY THEIR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WE PAY TO MUCH MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLES TO HAVE TO PUT WITH A COMPANY THAT KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AND WANT DO NOTHING TO FIX IT, BUT MAKES THE CUSTOMER SUFFERS AND PAYS THE PRICE FOR THEIR NEGLECT. *TR
I HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION. ALL AIRBAGS WHERE DEPLOYED EXCEPT FOR THE PASSENGER FRONT. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW SO I KNOW THAT IT WAS NEVER TURNED OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED WET SPOTS ON THE HEADLINER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THE COMPANY WAS AWARE OF A BAD GASKET IN THE TAIL LIGHT THAT WOULD CAUSE WATER DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000.
NO PROBLEMS UNTIL ABOUT 60,000 MILES. THEN ONE DAY, WHILE STOPPED, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DIED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD INDICATED A QUARTER TANK WHEN THE TANK WAS ACTUALLY FULL. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AT THE SAME TIME. I HAD TWO OXYGEN SENSORS REPLACED (ABOUT $400) TO CLEAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED (ABOUT $700) ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CURE THE GAS GAUGE PROBLEM. WHILE TURNING ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE HAS DIED AND WAS HARD TO STEER. ONCOMING CARS HAD TO BRAKE RAPIDLY AS I HAVE HAD A HARD TIME STEERING WITH NO POWER. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE TRUCK DIES OR RUNS VERY ROUGH AND NEARLY STALLS ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT MORE THAN A MILE OR SO. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE CODE AND THE DEALER STATED IT COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR EVALUATION. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WOULD FIX THIS ISSUE IF IT COULD BE IDENTIFIED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER AND WHEN I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE ENGINE DIED. TRIED RESTARTING THE ENGINE MULTIPLE TIMES, AND IT WOULD START BUT ONLY RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN DIE. HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE 4 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN. VEHICLE ENGINE DIES BUT THE LAST FEW TIMES HAS RESTARTED. TOOK IT INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AGAIN AND AGAIN THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
ON 5/2/12 I WENT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER IN MANAHAWKIN, NJ TO ADVISE OF CRACKING TIRES. THESE TIRES HAD ONLY 19000 MILES AND WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON MY 2009 FORD F150. THEY ADVISED ME TO CONTACT PIRELLI TIRE COMPANY. ON 5/4/12 I CONTACTED PIRELLI TIRE COMPANY VIA EMAIL AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. THEY ADVISED ME TO GO TO A LOCAL PIRELLI DEALER TO HAVE THEM INSPECTED. ON 5/8/12 I WENT TO SBR TIRE EXCHANGE IN MANAHAWKIN, NJ TO HAVE THEM INSPECTED. THEY CONFIRMED THE CRACKING PROBLEM AND THAT THE TIRES HAD 8/32 OF TREAD LEFT AND THE TIRES COME WITH 12/32 NEW. THEY THEN CONTACTED PIRELLI. PIRELLI OFFERED 60% TOWARD A NEW SET OF PIRELLI TIRES. AT FIRST THIS SOUNDED REASONABLE UNTIL I WAS ADVISED THAT THE TIRES WOULD BE SOLD AT LIST PRICE OF $399.95 EACH BEFORE THE DISCOUNT. THIS CAME TO 791.50 AFTER THE 60% DISCOUNT WITH MOUNTING AND TAX ADDED. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS KNOWING THE TIRES CAN BE PURCHASED FOR A SIMILAR PRICE WITHOUT THE DISCOUNT AND SAME SIZE COMPARABLE BF GOODRICH TIRES FOR LESS. PIRELLI HAS CLEARLY NOT STOOD BEHIND A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THAT APPARENTLY HAS A COMMON DEFECT IN THAT MODEL TIRE. THEY ARE FORCING ME TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES AFTER ONLY 1/3 WEAR, YEARS BEFORE THEY ARE NEEDED BECAUSE I AM IN FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. ## VIN PASSED ## FORD F150 2009 ##. *TR
TRUCK PARKED IN GARAGE FROM SAT EVENING 4/21/2012 FROM SHORT 9 MILE TRIP. TRUCK STARTED AROUND 10:30 A.M. SUN 4/22/2012. REMOVED FROM GARAGE FOR 3 MINUTES THEN RETURNED TO GARAGE. SHUT OFF. LEFT RESIDENCE IN ANOTHER VEHICLE. RETURNED AROUND 7:30 P.M. OPENED THE GARAGE TO FIND A SMOKY HAZE COMING FROM IT. THE ENTIRE GARAGE WAS HOT. I NOTICED DRIPS OF SOME SUBSTANCE UNDER THE TRUCK AND ON THE RUNNING BOARDS. I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED IT WAS THE UNDERCOATING THAT WAS WARM ENOUGH TO MELT AND DRIP. I GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO START IT UP BUT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. IT WAS WARM ENOUGH IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK TO LIQUEFY TOOTSY ROLLS THAT WERE IN THERE. I COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE GARAGE. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD WITH THE GARAGE DOORS OPEN AND EVERYTHING SEEMING TO COOL DOWN. I USED A BATTERY CHARGER TO TRY START THE TRUCK. IT WOULD JUST CLICK AND NOT ROLL OVER. WITH THE CHARGER THERE WAS ENOUGH POWER TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH THE TRUCK OUT OF THE GARAGE. THERE WE USED A COMMERCIAL BATTERY STARTER AND THE TRUCK STARTED UP. THERE WAS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME BUT IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE. ALL GAUGES READ WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. THE WATER TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS IMMEDIATELY AT THE WARMED UP LINE UPON STARTING. LEFT IT OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT. FOLLOWING MORNING DROVE IT 10 MILES TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TESTED EVERYTHING AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED THEIR HOTLINE AND THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THAT HAPPENING BEFORE.. THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE IN THE GARAGE THAT WAS AFFECTED. *TR
WHILE MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE I ACCELERATED TO 65-70 MPH. ONCE ON THE INTERSTATE I LET OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR BUT THE TRUCK CONTINUTED ACCELERATION UP TO 90MPH WHILE HOLDING AT 4000 RPMS. BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO HELP CONTROL THE VEHICLE SPEED WHILE I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND PULLED INTO THE EMERGNCY LANE. ONCE STOPPED AND IN PARK VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HOLD 4000 RPMS. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THEN RESTARTED AND THE RPMS JUMPED TO 4000 IMMEDIATELY. I SHUT OFF AGAIN LEFT OFF FOR 15 MINUTES, PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR A FEW TIMES TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T STICKING TO ANYTHING (IT WAS NOT) AND RESTARTED. AT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO WORK NORMALLY, DROVE ON HOME. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, LEFT IT FOR THEM ON TUESDAY. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO CODES AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THEREFORE NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS IS THE NINTH PROBLEM I HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE TRUCK IN TO HAVE FIXED UNDER THE WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED WATER LEAKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REAR SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE GASKET IN THE TAIL LIGHT WAS LOOSE, CAUSING WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE CARPET AND THE MIDDLE ARM REST IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE CONTAINED MILDEW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC HOSE LEAKING, CAUSING POWER STEERING PUMP TO WHINE & CAVITATE,& WILL EVENTUALLY RUIN THE POWER STEERING PUMP, DEALER SAYS THE HOSE IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER, 3700 CUSTOMERS ARE WAITING FOR THIS PART. DRIVE AT YOUR OWN RISK, WHEN THE PUMP FAILS YOU GO TO MANUAL STEERING INSTANTLY AND COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
FIRST, THE FUEL DOOR FELL OFF THE TRUCK. LATER THAT EVENING I HEARD A WEIRD SUCTION SOUND COMING FROM THE FUEL DOOR AREA. IT BEGAN TO IDLE ROUGH, THEN WOULD NOT WANT TO START AFTER FILL UPS. WHEN YOU WOULD STICK THE GAS NOZZLE IN THE TANK A LOUD "WHOOSH" SOUND WOULD EMIT AS IT RELIEVED PRESSURE. MY GAS GAUGE STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND ALL OF THESE ISSUES EVENTUALLY LEADING TO THE TANK IMPLODING/COLLAPSING ON ITSELF. THIS BENT THE FUEL PUMP AND GAS GAUGE INSIDE THE TANK. I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE IT FIXED BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE WARRANTY ONLY "COVERED MOVING PARTS". I ASKED IF THE FUEL GAUGE FLOAT AND FUEL PUMP MOVED. THEY ENJOYED MY RHETORIC, BUT DECLINED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY ONLY REPLACED A SENSOR THAT THREW A LEAN BANK ONE CODE AND CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. I DROVE IT FOR THE NEXT YEAR OR SO USING THE ODOMETER TO TELL ME WHEN TO FILL UP AS MY GAS GAUGE NO LONGER WORKED.. FAST FORWARD A YEAR AND A HALF, AND RUNNING OUT OF GAS 3 OR 4 TIMES, AND IT HAS DONE THE SAME THING TO ME AGAIN. I JUST PAID $972.19 TO A PRIVATE GARAGE TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, BUT I ONLY GOT A 90 DAY WARRANTY ON THE WORK AND NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS ISSUE WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. WHEN I GOOGLED THE MAKE AND MODEL OF THE TRUCK I FOUND ALL KINDS OF INFORMATION ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, YET FORD ACTED LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. I UNDERSTAND I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING THE TRUCK RUNNING, BUT NOTHING ABOUT THE WAY I OPERATE THE VEHICLE MADE IT DO THIS. IF I GET IN A WRECK, I SHOULD PAY TO FIX IT. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. BTW I WAS DOING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN IT SHUT DOWN MOST RECENTLY AND TRAFFIC HAD ME BOXED IN. IT NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION JUST GETTING IT OFF THE ROAD. HAD I DIED, NO ONE WOULD HAVE QUESTIONED WHAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. *TR
POWER STEERING HOSE LEAKING FLUID. MECHANIC TRIED ORDERING REPLACEMENT AND WAS TOLD BY FORD THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK-ORDER OF 4500 UNITS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FOR THE POWER STEERING HAD A BAD FITTING ON HIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET EXPERIENCED A FAILURE, BUT THE CONTACT WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN I WENT TO APPLY BRAKES, PEDAL FELT AWKWARD AND HARD, AS IF NO POWER ASSIST. I WAS CAUGHT BY SURPRISE AND HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. I HIT A WALL AT SLOW SPEED AND DAMAGED MY FRONT BUMPER. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OF NO POWER ASSIST IN MORNINGS WHEN FIRST STARTED. FORD HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. I AM TAKING TO FORD TODAY AFTER HAVING A COLLISION. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY SLUGGISH AND DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REACH HIS DESTINATION AND NOTICED THAT THE LOWER POWER STEERING HOSE WAS LEAKING FLUID. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED, THEY BOTH INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART WAS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD BEEN WAITING ON THE PART SINCE MARCH OF 2012. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS CHANGING THE OIL AND NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING LINE WAS LEAKING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR AN INSPECTION AND THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THEY COULD NOT OBTAIN THE NECESSARY PART BECAUSE IT WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS AGAIN INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE KNOWN ISSUES FOR THIS FAILURE, BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
DURING AN INSPECTION THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS FOUND TO BE LEAKING. ADVISED BY SERVICE AGENT TO TAKE TO DEALER AS A WARRANTY ISSUE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID NEW POWER STEERING HOSE IS REQUIRED AND SENT ON MY WAY AFTER BEING TOLD HOSE IS ORDERED. MORE THAN A WEEK LATER I FIND OUT, AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN WAITING 10 WEEKS FOR THE SAME REPLACEMENT PART FROM FORD, THE ONLY SUPPLIER OF THIS PARTICULAR HOSE! I CONTACTED FORD BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT RESPOND TO PHONE CALLS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALER SAYS THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. WELL I FEEL THAT ANY LEAKING POWER STEERING HOSE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE RESPONSE FROM FORD WAS TO PURCHASE A LARGE CONTAINER OF POWER STEERING FLUID AND CONTINUALLY TOP UP THE FLUID. THEY SAID THIS ADVICE WAS FROM THE DEALER. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE REPORTED SIMPLY BECAUSE THE MORE YOU DRIVE THE HIGHER THE RISK OF A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE STEERING AND THE RISK OF DEATH OR INJURY TO THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS. IT ALSO NEEDS TO BE HIGHLIGHTED THE BLASE ATTITUDE OF FORD AND THEIR DEALERS TO THIS MATTER. IT WAS CERTAINLY OF BIG ENOUGH CONCERN INITIALLY FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND FIND A RENTAL VEHICLE THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR IN LIEU OF LOSS OF TRANSPORT AS WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE FOR LONG DISTANCES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FLOOR MAT WAS DEFECTIVE. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR MAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CRASH AND MANEUVERED THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 48,000.

AAA CAME AND SAID THE BATTERY WAS FINE. HAD IT JUMPED AND TOOK IT TO HOLMAN IN MAPLE SHADE, NJ. THEY KEPT THE TRUCK FOR FIVE DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. WHEN AAA CAME THEY SAID IT SEEMED AS IF SOMETHING WAS PULLING FROM THE BATTERY HOLMAN SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN NOT TO HAVE IT JUMPED JUST HAVE IT TOWED. SEEMS IT MAY BE ELECTRICAL. NOT REALLY SURE.

THE FAN BLOWER SPEED CONTROL STUCK ON HIGH ONLY AND WAS REPLACED 09/2011. THE VEHICLE KEPT STALLING OUT UPON DECELERATION GOING DOWN THE ROAD. I PURCHASED A FORD F150 CREW CAB 4X4 BRAND NEW IN 2009. AT 35000 KMS (+/-), 55000 KMS (+/-) AND NOW 90000 KMS, THE "CLUTCH PACKS" HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHEN PULLING A TRAILER OR BOAT AND THE DRIVE TRAIN GETS HOT, THE DRIVE TRAIN GRINDS AND SHAKES BADLY. I SPOKE TO SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS FROM THAT DEALERSHIP ALONE HAVE HAD THE SAME COMPLAINT. **CATASTROPHIC FUEL TANK FAILURE** TWO DAYS AGO MY 2009 F150 DIED IN MY DRIVEWAY, IT ACTED AS IF OUT OF FUEL EVEN THOUGH THE GAGE READ OVER HALF A TANK. I HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS INITIALLY INFORMED THAT THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF GAS AND THE FUEL GAGE WASN'T WORKING. A NEW UNIT WAS ORDERED AND ONCE THE TANK WAS REMOVED FROM THE TRUCK IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ISSUE WAS EXCEEDINGLY MORE SEVERE. THE MECHANIC AND A FORD ENGINEER CONCLUDED THAT THE CHARCOAL PURGE VALVE FAILED AND THE FUEL PUMP CREATED SUCH A STRONG VACUUM THAT THE FUEL TANK COLLAPSED ON ITSELF AND CRUSHED THE FUEL PUMP.ALTHOUGH THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 15,000 MILES IT IS NOT A WARRANTY REPAIR DUE TO A SALVAGE TITLE ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE INSPECTION IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE FUEL TANK UNIT WAS NOT DAMAGE OR EFFECTED BY ANY INCIDENT AND WAS IN STANDARD OPERATING CONDITION WHEN THE EVENT OCCURRED.I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT SINCE THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY REPAIR, FORD WILL NOT BE COLLECTING THE PARTS FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MISTAKE! I HAVE ASKED TO KEEP THESE PARTS AND WILL PROVIDE THEM TO FORD IF NEED BE. I EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE BACKING UP. I HAD JUST STARTED THE ENGINE AND PLACED IT IN REVERSE AND THEN TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR LIGHTLY TO START MOVING. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY BACKWARDS. LUCKILY MY FOOT WAS OFF THE ACCELERATOR FOR I WAS IN A SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND ON A SLIGHT INCLINE SO I WAS RIDING THE BRAKE LIGHTLY. I HAD MY RIGHT FOOT FULLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND COULD BARELY KEEP IT SLOWED. I PLACED THE ENGINE IN NEUTRAL AND THE TACH SHOWED A STEADY 4000 RPM, AGAIN MY FOOT WAS STILL OFF THE ACCELERATOR. I THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED AND ALL SEEM NORMAL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR SHOW ANY COMPUTER CODE ERRORS.
VEHICLE HAS STALLED/SHUT DOWN ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS DURING OPERATION. THE FIRST TWO TIMES THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. DURING THE LATEST OCCURRENCE THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE NAVIGATING A LEFT TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. THE STALL RESULTED IN A POWER STEERING AND BRAKES FAILURE. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT INCIDENT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC. THE LATEST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 05/23/2011. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT THEY CANNOT RECREATED THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE HAVE NO SOLUTION. I HAVE ALSO NOTIFIED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE OF THE PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN SIX OTHER QUALITY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND REPORT THE INCIDENT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE TRUCK ACCELERATED TO 95. I TURNED OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL, THINKING IT COULD BE STUCK, EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT USING IT AT THE TIME, BRAKED AS HARD AS I COULD AND GOT THE TRUCK TO SLOW DOWN AND GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE TO A SIDE ROAD AND FINALLY GOT IT STOPPED. I TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK. IT IMMEDIATELY RAN UP TO 5K RMP. I SHUT IT BACK DOWN AND CALLED A FRIENDS WHO IS A MECHANIC. HE TOLD ME TO DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF THE BATTERY AND LET IT SIT A FEW MINUTES. DID THIS AND IT RESTARTED AND I GOT IT HOME. HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER SINCE IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE FORD DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM; STATES THAT 4 PEOPLE HAVE DRIVEN IT; THEY LET IT RUN FOR TWO HOURS AND ALL DIAGNOSTICS TESTS INDICATE ALL IS WELL. WHILE DRIVING 2009 FORD F150 AT FREEWAY SPEED THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL SEPARATED. WHEN THE WHEEL SEPARATED IT MADE HEAVY CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE CALIPER AND SOME CONTACT WITH THE UPPER A-ARM OF THE SUSPENSION CAUSING VEHICLE TO MOMENTARILY LOOSE CONTROL, CROSSING LANES OF TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY THE ROADS WERE RELATIVELY UNOCCUPIED AND THERE WAS NO COLLISION. THE WHEEL HAD NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE AND HAD NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY PREVIOUS ACCIDENTS. THE TIRE MOUNTED ON THE WHEEL HAD APROX 800 MILES OF USE. FORD CURRENTLY HAS THE WHEEL AND WILL BE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THIS STARTED ABOUT SPRING OF 2011. MY TRUCK HAD ABOUT 26,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN WHEN I HEARD A TRICKLE OF WATER IN THE BACK SEAT. I LOOKED BACK AND SAW NOTHING. LATER WHEN I GOT TO WORK I CHECKED TO SEE IF I COULD FIND OUT WHAT THE TRICKLE NOISE WAS. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE ROOF WAS LEAKING. IN THE BACK TWO CORNERS OF THE CAB WATER WAS COMING IN. APPARENTLY, A HARD RAIN CAUSES THE WATER TO POOL ON THE ROOF. THE RUBBER GASKET ON THE ROOF HAS APPARENTLY BECOME BRITTLE AND IS LETTING WATER IN. I LOOKED ONLINE FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND SAW OTHERS, INCLUDING LEAKS FROM THE SATELLITE ANTENNA AND THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT. PLEASE HELP. WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO PUT ON THE BRAKE AS I NEARED THE STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION TO ENTER MAIN ROAD. AS THIS HAPPENED THE TRUCK ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND DARTED THE TRUCK AND PASSENGERS INTO 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC WHERE THEY WERE HIT BY A VAN WHICH IN TURN SWUNG THEM INTO THE OPPOSITE 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC (SO TRUCK WENT THROUGH 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC). TRUCK'S AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE (WITH DRIVER SEAT BAGS TOO) AND NO INJURIES OCCURRED. TRUCK IS BEING FIXED AND WILL BE TAKEN TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AFTERWARD FOR EVALUATION. *LN

IT COST ME THREE VISITS AND A $85 BILL TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THEIR COMPUTER PROGRAM. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS USING A DIFFERENT TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FOR HIS PARTICULAR YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING ABNORMALLY, THE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GASKET. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD AND EXHIBITING A LOUD BANG SOUND WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN ANY GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. I STOPPED AT THE MOBIL KANAGROO EXPRESS GAS STATION IN GAINESVILLE TO FILL MY 2009 FORD F150 UP WITH GAS. I USED THE HANDLE LOCK ON THE GAS NOZZLE TO FILL THE TANK. I ALSO HELD IT WITH MY HAND. WHEN IT WAS NOT YET FULL THE NOZZLE FLEW OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE SPRAYING GASOLINE ALL OVER ME AND THE GROUND. I PULLED THE TRUCK AWAY FROM THE GAS PUMPS BECAUSE I WAS WORRIED ABOUT A FIRE. I WENT INTO THE STORE EXPLAIN TO THE CLERK WHAT HAPPENED AND TOLD HIM THAT HE HAD A PROBLEM OUT AT THE PUMP BECAUSE THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE STILL ON THE GROUND. I HAD A CHANGE OF CLOTHES WITH ME AND THE CLERK GAVE ME A BAR OF SOAP TO WASH UP WITH. THE CLERK SAID THE GAS AT THE PUMP WOULD JUST EVAPORATE. I ALSO REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO THE GAINESVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO SAID THEY WOULD CHECK THE STATIONS PUMPS. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER IT WAS THE FAULT OF THE TRUCK OR THE GAS PUMP BUT I WAS AFRAID OF DYING BECAUSE I WAS COVERED IN GASOLINE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION AND MOVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE SECOND INSTANCE OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
