WHILE DRIVING FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT I HAD TRAVELED ABOUT 3 MILES WHEN I HEARD A TONE AND SAW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES AS I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND AS THE TRUCK SLOWED I SAW A LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING COME UP ON THE DIGITAL MESSAGE CENTER AND THE ENGINE STALLED. I LOST BRAKE PRESSURE AND NEARLY RAN THE RED LIGHT. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK. I DROVE TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY (SOUTHWEST FORD OF GREENVILLE, TX) THEY TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM DOWN TO A FAULTY FUEL PURGE VALVE. THIS CAUSED A SECONDARY ISSUE DUE TO AN EXCESS VACUUM BUILD UP IN THE TANK. THE TANK WAS DEFORMED DESTROYING THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL QTY SENDING UNIT. THE REPAIR COST WAS ABOUT 1200 DOLLARS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS EXCELLENT AT GIVING ME THE DETAILED INFORMATION, AND THEY PAID FOR MY RENTAL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS FAILED TO OPERATE IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHO STATED THAT A HIGH RADIO FREQUENCY HAD CAUSED THE ELECTRONICS TO FAIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHEN I TRY TO START MY CAR ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS AND THEFT LIGHTS FLASH AND THE VEHICLE WON'T TURN. IF I LEAVE IT FOR SOME TIME AND COME BACK AND TRY IT, SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK. WHEN IT DOES WORK IT'S ONLY BRIEFLY, THE A/C GOES OUT BUT STILL BLOWS AIR, THE INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING SPEEDOMETER GO TO ZERO EVEN WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE DUE TO SAFETY AND RELIABILITY. I'VE TAKEN IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY HELD IT FOR TWO WEEKS AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME SAYING IT WAS WORKING FINE. ON MY WAY BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE HASSLE AND I'VE HAD TO MISS WORK BECAUSE OF IT. *TR
2010 F-150 WITH 5.4 L V-8 ENGINE, DURING OPERATION OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD TO INCLUDE CARPET AND MATTING WERE SOAKED. SUBSEQUENT SERVICING BY DEALERSHIP FOUND A FAULTY ELBOW AND HOSE FROM AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. DEALERSHIP REPLACED ELBOW AND HOSE AND RE-PLUMBED THE HOSE AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $300. DEALERSHIP NOTED THAT THE ELBOW AND HOSE WERE FAULTY ON THE INVOICE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL LIGHTS BECAME FILLED WITH WATER IN WET CONDITIONS. THE WATER ALSO SEEPED INTO THE VEHICLE AND DAMPENED THE INTERIOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RUBBER GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
I PARKED THE VEHICLE, REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, AND WENT INTO MY HOME. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE HOUSE, AND WHEN I WENT OUT, THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED DOWN THE ROAD APPROXIMATELY 75 YARDS AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. *TR
THE TRUCK IS 6/22/14 LUNGING AND THE WRENCH LIGHT AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TODAY 6/22/14. THE SAME THING HAPPENED LAST YEAR AND IT WAS THE THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR. *TR
ENGINE STALLS AT RED LIGHTS NO REASON. *TR
PLATINUM EDITION PURCHASED IN JAN 2011. ISSUE: CAP LESS GAS DOOR STAYS UNHINGED AND WILL NOT CLOSE. NOTES: HAPPENED AFTER A TRIP. DOOR WAS OPEN, RETRACT DEVICE INSIDE OF FRAME NO LONGER PROVIDES TENSION NEED TO KEEP GAS DOOR CLOSED. 1. RESULTING TO TAPING DOOR CLOSED TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGED TO THE TRUCK, OTHER THAN TAPE DAMAGE TO THE PAINT. 2. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW: A. RISK OF IGNITION NOW THAT GAS DOOR DOES NOT STAY CLOSED. IMPORTANT BEING TRUCK IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH GAS CAP. B. RISK OF IGNITION DUE TO EXTERNAL COMBUSTIBLE SOURCE OR IGNITION SOURCE SUCH AS BUT NOT LIMITED TO; CIGARETTES, SPARKS, ELECTRIC, TEMPERATURE ETC. 3. I WAS TRAVELING ALONG INTERSTATE-10 WHEN I DETECTED A THE ODOR OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS BRAKE PADS BURNING. AS I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK DIDN'T RESPOND AS IT NORMALLY WOULD TURNING AND I THOUGHT MY BRAKES WERE LOCKING UP. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND EXITED MY VEHICLE TO INSPECT MY FRONT END. WHEN I APPROACHED THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE I COULD SMELL THE SOMETHING BURNING AND I COULD FEEL AND EXTREME AMOUNT OF HEAT COMING FROM THE TIRE WELL AREA. I NOTICED THE BRAKE CALIPERS WERE SMOKING AND WHEN I REACHED DOWN AND TOUCHED MY WHEEL RIM IT WAS SO HOT IT BURNT MY HAND. I LATER JACKED UP THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK TO INSPECT CALIPER AND FOUND IT COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. I HAD TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE AND GET IT TO A SHOP WHERE I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A TSB FORD PUT OUT. I FEEL LIKE MY LIFE WAS PUT IN DANGER BECAUSE I WAS NOT WARNED ABOUT THIS TSB AND THE BRAKE PROBLEMS FORD IS EXPERIENCING. I AM EXTREMELY ANGRY THAT FORD HAS NOT MADE THIS PROBLEM MORE WIDELY KNOWN AND I FIND IT DISTURBING THAT I HAVE TO SEARCH OUT, ON MY ON, POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2010 FORD F150 HAS APPROX. 30,4XX MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PERFECTLY. IN A BRIEF SUMMARY, GOING IN TO WORK EARLY (5AM) POTENTIALLY SAVED ME FROM HAVING A WRECK TO DUE A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. UPON ACCELERATING FROM A RED LIGHT, MY TRUCK ENTERED INTO A "LIMP HOME" MODE (MECHANIC WRENCH ICON APPEARED) AND BEGAN TO INCORRECTLY REGULATE MY RPMS. THIS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO BECOME NEARLY STRANDED AS I WAS MOVING NO FASTER THAN 10MPH IN A 50MPH ZONE. I WAS LUCKILY ONLY 1/8TH OF A MILE FROM WORK AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE STREET. UPON LEAVING WORK, MY TRUCK WAS ACTING FINE WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS (NOT EVEN THE MECHANIC WRENCH). I THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE IT TO AN AUTO PARTS SUPPLIER TO HAVE A FREE DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. NO CODES WERE SAVED OR SHOWED UP. HOWEVER, WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME, IT AGAIN ACTED UP AND ENTERED A LIMP MODE. THIS TIME BOTH "CHECK ENGINE" AND "MECHANIC WRENCH" LIGHTS WERE ON. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHO THEN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. I AM QUOTED $881 TO PERFORM THE REPLACEMENT OF A ~$150 PART...SINCE IT IS A 2010, IT IS OUT OF THE 3YR/36,000 BUMPER TO BUMPER AND FORD DOESN'T CONSIDER THE THROTTLE BODY PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY (FORD WILL COVER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD THOUGH, A CHUNK OF PLASTIC THAT WON'T BREAK)... FORD HAS APPARENTLY HAD PROBLEMS W/ THEIR DRIVE-BY-WIRE THROTTLE BODIES, AS SEEN THROUGH THEIR "CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03" RECALL. THIS INCIDENT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE INVESTIGATED AS I HAVE TAKEN PROPER CARE OF MY TRUCK (THAT HAS 30,400 MILES) AND I AM STRANDED IN A ROAD, OFTEN TRAVELED BY 18 WHEELERS, GOING 10MPH. I AM NOT CONFIDENT IN MY FORD TRUCK. *TR
THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN I HIT A CAR IN THE SIDE AS HE WAS RUNNING A RED LIGHT. DID NOT KNOW IF THEY WERE SUPPOSE TOO. FORD STATES IT SHOULD DEPLOY AT LEAST 8MPH. WHAT TO DO? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TWO DISCOVERY A/T HAD TIRE SEPARATION, ONE WHILE DRIVING AND ONE WAS DISCOVERED AS VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE FAILURES OCCURRED OR DISCOVERED WITHIN A THREE WEEK PERIOD. BOTH TIRES REMAINED INTACT AND NO CRASH OCCURRED. ONE TIRE WAS PARTIALLY REBATED BY LOCAL DEALER BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET ON SECOND TIRE. *TR
WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST APPROXIMATELY 3-5MINUTES LATER REAR PASSENGER WINDOW SHATTERED. NOTHING HIT THE WINDOW IT APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO THE REAR DEFROSTER. *JS
CONSTANT SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION. DEALER HAS TRIED SEVERAL SOLUTIONS AND CANNOT REPAIR PROBLEM. DEALER THINKS THAT THE SUSPENSION SPRINGS ARE DEFECTIVE FROM FORD BECAUSE THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE IS WAY TOO NEW TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM AT THIS TIME. *TR
TRAVELING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN A LOUD BANG CAME FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA OF THE VEHICLE AND THE REAR WHEELS OF THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE REAR END TO START HOPPING AND SLIDING LEFT. I REGAINED CONTROL AND PUT THE GEAR SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL WHICH ALLOWED ME TO STEER PAST A VEHICLE IN THE RIGHT LANE AND GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND AN 18 WHEELER WAS ON HIS BRAKES AND WAS APPARENTLY GOING TO PASS CLOSE OR CRASH INTO MY VEHICLE. AT THIS TIME I WAS MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH AND I DECIDED TO GO THROUGH THE DITCH AND CAME TO A STOP ON THE FRONTAGE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT WOULD NOT THROTTLE UP. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO THROTTLE UP WHICH ALSO FAILED. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AND CRAWLED UNDER THE VEHICLE TO LOOK FOR DAMAGE. AMAZINGLY NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE WAS NOTED. AT THIS TIME I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND EVERYTHING WORKED AS IF NOTHING HAD EVER HAPPENED. I DROVE THE VEHICLE AT A SLOW SPEED STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER AND REPORTED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE SERVICE MANAGER RECOVERED A CODE WHICH HAD BEEN STORED WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. WHEN THE CODE WAS INVESTIGATED THE INSTRUCTIONS DIRECTED THE TECHNICIANS TO REPLACE THE MEGATRONICS VALVE BODY. BEFORE A REPLACEMENT PART COULD BE ORDERED THE SERVICE MANAGER RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE MANUFACTURERS TRANSMISSION FACTORY AND WAS DIRECTED NOT TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART AND THAT THE FACTORY WOULD SEND THE REPLACEMENT PART AND TO SEND THE DEFECTIVE PART BACK TO THE FACTORY AS SOON AS IT WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. I WAS NEARLY KILLED DUE TO A FAULTY PART IN A TRANSMISSION AND CAN ONLY WONDER WHO MAY HAVE LOST THEIR LIFE IN THE SAME SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT I COULD NOT TRUST IT. I HAVE SOLD IT. *TR
WHEN SHIFTING INTO PARK THERE IS A MINUTE OR TWO DELAY IN SHIFTING. ALSO IN THE HIGHER GEARS ITS HESITANT.
2010 FORD F-150 5.4 LTR STALLING AT IDLE AND LOSING CONTROL OF VEHICLE. REPAIRS DONE AT LOCAL DEALERSHIP INCLUDING REPLACEMENT OF CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND O2 SENSORS. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS ALMOST CAUSING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. BACK AT DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR REVIEW. TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. SAME PROBLEM CAN BE SEEN ALL OVER THE INTERNET. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
TURNED ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST AND A FEW MINUTES LATER THE RIGHT-REAR WINDOW (OF THE THREE PIECE POWER SLIDING REAR WINDOW) EXPLODED. *TR
I WAS PUMPING GAS 50 DEGREES OUT AND DRIVERS SIDE BACK WINDOW BLEW. *TR
FOLLOWING TORRENTIAL RAINS DISCOVERED THE ROOF LEAKING WATER INTO PASSENGER INTERIOR AT TOP OF CAB ABOVE HEADLINER REAR PASSENGER SEATS. SEATS AND PART OF HEADLINER SATURATED. AS YET UNKNOWN DAMAGE BEHIND COSMETIC PANELS AND FLOOR BOARD. *TR
TURNED DEFROST ON REAR POWER SLIDER WINDOW AND HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION LIKE A GUNSHOT AND THE REAR WINDOW ON PASSENGER SIDE SHATTERED. THERE ARE SMALL PIECES OF GLASS IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND ON THE BACK SEAT. TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE MILD 30S AT THE TIME. THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DEFROST CAUSING THE GLASS TO SHATTER. FORD WILL NOT COVER REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT OF THE GLASS. MILEAGE LESS THAN 30,000 MILES. TRUCK ALSO COVERED UNDER EXTENDED MAINTENANCE PLAN BUT FORD WILL NOT COVER IT THERE EITHER. *TR
DRIVER SIDE PANE OF 3-PANED REAR WINDOW SPIDER WEB CRACKED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE THING, FROM REAR DEFROST OVERHEATING. WHILE TAPING WINDOW UP, I COULD FEEL TINY SHARDS OF GLASS FALLING OFF AND SOMETIMES CUTTING ME. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THE THE SEAT RETRACTOR BELT ON FRONT PASSERNGERS SIDE INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS. THE SEAT RETRACTOR BELT PERMITS ANY MOVEMENT FOR THE PASSENGER AND DOES NOT RELEASE FROM THE LATCH UNLESS SEAT BELT IS TAKEN OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,450. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,100. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. UPDATED 8/12/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS BREAKING CAUSING EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE 5.4L 3 VALVE FLEX-FUEL ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY DECLINED TO COVER COSTS TO REPAIR. INTERNET FULL OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM AND FOMOCO IGNORES KNOWS DESIGN FLAW.
DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FX4 WHEN I HEARD A POP FROM THE REAR. THE BACK RIGHT REAR WINDOW GLASS HAD "SPIDER-WEBBED" AND SLIGHTLY SHATTER WITH GLASS FALLING FROM IT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME 3/29/2014. IT WAS LATE AFTERNOON, RAINING AND ABOUT 45F. I HAD MY REAR DEFROSTER ON FOR ABOUT 10 MINS WHEN THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT SO THE FIRST THING I DID WAS TEST MY BRAKES TO MAKE SURE I COULD STOP, THEN SCANNED THE DASH AND NO WEIRD LIGHTS. IT WAS WHEN I LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW SECONDS LATER THAT I SAW MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW (SLIDING REAR WINDOW WITH 3 SECTIONS) WAS SHATTERED. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER ON MY POWER SLIDING REAR WINDOW CAUSED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW GLASS TO SHATTER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS WARMING UP IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE DEFROSTER HAD BEEN IN OPERATION ONLY 2-3 MINUTES WHEN A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD WHILE I WAS RE-ENTERING THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED FOR IMPACT DAMAGE TO THE ROOF, TAILGATE, ETC BUT NOTHING SEEMED UNUSUAL, AND THERE WERE NO OTHER PEOPLE IN THE VICINITY. THE DAMAGE WAS NOT READILY VISIBLE UNTIL I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE IN THE AFTERNOON, GOT IN, AND LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TIME: 4:30AM WEATHER CONDITIONS: 28 DEGREES, CLEAR SKY, LIGHT FROST ON WINDOWS, NO PRECIPITATION IN PRIOR 48 HOURS. AN AUTO GLASS INSTALLER AND A BODY SHOP OWNER BOTH CONFIRMED NO SIGN OF ANY IMPACT DAMAGE. A BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH OF FORD OWNER'S FORUMS REVEALED MULTIPLE OWNERS EXPERIENCING SHATTERED GLASS, MELTED WINDOW FRAMES ETC. WHEN USING THE REAR DEFROSTER ON 2010 F-150 TRUCKS WITH POWER SLIDING REAR WINDOW. AT LEASE FOUR OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS. (JAN-MAR. 2014). *TR
NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. AFTER COMING HOME FROM A WEEK OF BUSINESS TRAVEL, MY NEIGHBOR CAME OVER TO INFORM ME THAT MY 2010 F150 FX4 WITH THE 5.4 V8 AND 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID ON THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER CHECKING UNDER THE TRUCK I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD FOR THE TRANSMISSION OIL DIP STICK SO I COULD CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL. TO MY SURPRISE, THERE IS NO TRANSMISSION OIL DIP STICK. AFTER LOOKING THRU THE OWNER'S MANUAL, IT STATES THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS A SEALED TRANSMISSION AND DOESN'T NEED ANY OIL EXCEPT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. WELL OBVIOUSLY IF THERE IS A LEAK, THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO WAY TO ADD FLUID TO PREVENT AN FAILURE ISSUE. I THEN CONTACT A DEALER NEAR MY GEORGIA HOME AND TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A TRANSMISSION BULKHEAD CONNECTOR SEAL LEAK AND IT WOULD COST $600.00 TO REPAIR. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. AFTER LOOKING THRU THE INTERNET, I FOUND THE FORD TSB 11-3-25. FROM MY SEARCH, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE REPORTING THIS ISSUE. SINCE THE TRANSMISSION COULD LEAK UNTIL IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH FLUID TO MAKE IT WORK PROPERLY, THUS CAUSING DRIVABILITY ISSUES. I WOULD THINK THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE AND BE A RECALL, NOT JUST A TSB. THEREFORE, I'M WRITING YOU THIS EMAIL TO ADVISE YOU OF THIS ISSUE INCASE YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF IT. *TR
ON 3-12-14 I LEFT WORK AND HEADED HOME, APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING, I HEAR A VERY LOUD BANG TOWARD THE REAR OF MY TRUCK, SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT. WHEN I GOT HOME, 10 MINUTES LATER TO INSPECT, I NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE BACK PASSENGER SECTION OF MY WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. I ASSUMED SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT MY TRUCK, BUT I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THAT WOULD HAPPEN SEEING AS I WAS MOVING FORWARD. IF SOMETHING WOULD HAVE FLOWN UP FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE, IT WOULD HAVE HIT THE BACK OF MY TRUCK WHICH HIGHLY UNLIKELY. ONE WEEK LATER I HAD THE WINDOW REPLACED AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS THE 37TH REAR WINDOW HE HAS REPLACED SINCE DECEMBER OF 2013 AND THAT IT IS A ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT IS CAUSING THE WINDOWS TO LITERALLY EXPLODE. AFTER RECEIVING THIS INFORMATION I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND CAME ACROSS F150FORUM.COM WHERE I LEARNED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AGAIN GOING BACK TO AS FAR AS 2011. I CONTACTED FORD AND FILED A COMPLAINT ( CASE# 4161127-C1J5T0). I ALSO CONTACTED "CRYSTAL' FROM FORD'S SOCIAL MEDIA DEPT WHO HAS BEEN MONITORING THE FORUM. SHE WAS REQUESTING VIN NUMBERS OF VEHICLES THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. SHE ULTIMATELY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING SHE CAN DO BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY HAD A CASE NUMBER WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE HAD TO PAY $500 TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT. *TR
FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE REAR WINDOW HAS SHATTERED. *TR
WATER LEAKS THROUGH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT LENS DURING HARD RAIN OR AUTO CAR WASH. ENOUGH WATER COMES IN TO SOAK THE BACK SEAT AND THE FLOOR. THEN THERE IS SO MUCH MOISTURE INSIDE THE CAB THAT THE DEFROSTER CAN NOT CLEAR THE WINDOWS NOR INSIDE THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY PROBLEM AS THE DRIVER'S VISION IS VERY EFFECTED. CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NOT A PROBLEM - PROBABLY JUST A PINCHED GASKET FROM CHANGING A LIGHT BULB. BUT THAT IS NOT THE FACTS. MY SEAT HEATER STOPPED WORKING SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I WENT TO REPLACE IT TODAY AND FOUND THAT THE HEAT ELEMENT HAD MELTED AND TURNED BLACK THE SEAT CUSHION IN THE AREA OF WHERE IT MELTED, I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS ACTUAL FIRE BUT HAD THE POWER NOT SHUT OFF I AM SURE THAT THE SEAT WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MAIN HARNESS CABLE CONNECTION TO THE FUSE BOX OVERHEATED AND MALFUNCTIONED. THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING. MECHANICS AT FORD ADVISED THAT IT WAS RELAY WIRE OR HARNESS WIRES FOR THE AIRBAG SENSORS THAT RAN THROUGH THE FUEL TANK WERE CORRODED OR SHORTED OUT. THEY REPORTED THAT THE ENGINEERS AT FORD MADE A BAD CALL WHEN THEY DECIDED TO RUN THE WIRES THROUGH THE FUEL TANK, WHICH IN TURN RESULTED IN ME HAVING TO DISH OUT 1500 BUCKS FOR THE REPAIR. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES PRIOR TO THE REPAIR ON A TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 53000 MILES AT THE TIME, BETWEEN DURING MARCH OR APRIL OF 2014 WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE USED TRUCK. LOST ALL POWER AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ON SEVERAL ROAD TYPES INCLUDING HIGHWAY, HIGHWAY SERVICE ROAD, RESIDENTIAL STREET AND FARM TO MARKET ROAD, WHILE GOING STRAIT AND DURING TURNS, AFTER MULTIPLE EVENTS AND HAVING PUT LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT, I TOOK IT UP TO FORD. GRATEFUL THAT NO ACCIDENTS OCCURED DURING THE EPISODES I EXPERIENCED. I WAS ABLE TO COMETO A STOP, PLACE THE TRUCK IN PARK AND RESTART IT. TTINCE THE REPAIR NO ISSUES. LOVE THE F SERIES PICK UPS AND HAVE OWNED SEVERAL OVER A SPAN OF 18 YEARS AND ITS ALL MY DADS COMPANY USES. I KNOW ITS BEEN ALMOST 4 YEARS SINCE HAVING THE ISSUE BUT FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO SAY SOMETHING TO AT LEAST GIVE OTHERS A HEAD UP OR WARNING. NEVER SET WELL WITH ME. ONLY THE PASSENGER (FAR RIGHT SIDE) WAS SHATTERED. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO PEOPLE SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THE FORD COMPANY HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD NUMEROUS F150'S HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. FORD REFUSES TO COVER REPAIRS.

HOWEVER I WAS ON AN OPEN ROAD WITH NOTHING OVERHEAD OR NEARBY. IN THE SUMMER OF 2012 MY WIFE REPORTED SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES ONE NIGHT WHILE SHE WAS ON A TRIP, AND SHE LATER DISCOVERED THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED (WE HAD IT REPLACED AT AN AUTO GLASS SHOP WITHOUT REPORTING THE PROBLEM). WHEN I LOOKED IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR, I COULD SEE THE SAME THING HAD HAPPENED; THE PASSENGER-SIDE SECTION OF THE REAR GLASS WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED (BUT REMAINED IN THE FRAME). THERE WAS NO DISCERNIBLE ORIGIN; VERY EVEN CRACKING THROUGHOUT ALL THE PANE OF GLASS. THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS ENGAGED AT THE TIME. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THIS MODEL OF TRUCK. BECAUSE THE HIGHWAY I DRIVE IS A MAJOR TRUCK ROUTE IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE OUT THE REAR WINDOW. *TR
