MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING INTERSTATE 81 IN VIRGINIA ON 8/13/2011. WE WERE DRIVING IN THE STAUNTON, VA AREA AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHERE THE REAR WHEELS ON MY 2010 F-150 IMMEDIATELY LOCKED UP. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, AND WITH THE HELP OF FORD TECHS, THEY FEEL THE ISSUE WAS THE TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY DROPPED FROM 6TH GEAR DOWN TO 1ST GEAR. FORTUNATELY THE ROAD WAS DRY AND I GAINED CONTROL AND MOVED THE VEHICLE SAFELY OFF THE ROAD, HOWEVER MY CONCERN IS IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE THEY ARE 100% SURE THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE, AND EVEN IF IT IS, HOW DO I KNOW IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN IN THE FUTURE...WITH A WORSE OUTCOME. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AND WE WERE LUCKY WE DIDN'T GET INTO A MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENT. NOW I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN, AND FORD SEEMS TO FEEL THERE ISN'T AN ISSUE, BUT I SEE NUMEROUS POSTS ON THE INTERNET OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS. SHOULD FORD BE DOING MORE TO ENSURE THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE SAFE IN THEIR VEHICLES, OR SHOULD I JUST FIND ANOTHER TRUCK THAT IS SAFER? *KB
IN ADDITION TO THE 2013 FORD F150 TRANSMISSION RECALL, I HAVE A 2010 F150 THAT HAD THE SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHERE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TO FIRST GEAR AT SPEED. I WAS GOING 70 MPH WITH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER ON A VIRGINIA INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN MINE DROPPED FROM 6TH TO 1ST GEAR IN AUGUST 2011. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND SAFELY GET IT OFF THE ROAD, BUT THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON LONGER THAN THE CURRENT RECALL REPORTS. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD SHOULD ADDRESS, SINCE MY TRANSMISSION STILL HAS A HARD SHIFT FROM TIME TO TIME, SO I DON'T FEEL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE MEGATRONICS UNIT (TWICE), AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER, BUT IT IS STILL THE SAME TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE TRAIN WHICH I STILL FEEL IS NOT 100% FIXED. I SEE NOW THAT THE RECALL MIGHT BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE 2011 AND 2012 F150S, BUT I FEEL IT SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THOSE 2010 MODELS TOO, SINCE I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2010 F150.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
2010 F150 WITH 4.6 LITER V8 WITH 30K MILES ON IT 1.THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE: NONE 2.THE FAILURE, HOW OFTEN IT OCCURS, ITS CONSEQUENCES; AND, TRUCK STALLS WITH NO WARNING. ONE SECOND IT IS RUNNING THE NEXT IT IS DEAD. TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK. AT A STOP SIGN, WHEN GETTING READY TO TAKE OFF, REALIZED THE TRUCK HAD TURNED OFF WITH OUT A REASON, SECOND TIME IT DID THE SAME THING. THE THIRD TIME WAS THIS SATURDAY 12/03/11, WHEN I CAME TO THE RED LIGHT, OF COURSE TRUCK WAS RUNNING, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I GOT READY TO GO, THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF ONCE AGAIN, STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC I HAD TO TURN IT BACK ON AND GO, PROBLEM IS THIS HAS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, AS A SINGLE MOTHER WITH MY SON'S FATHER DECEASED, LAST THING I NEED IS TO BE IN A FATAL ACCIDENTS TO HIS, WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF MANUFACTURE OR A DEALER CAN OR WILL FIX THIS, TRUCK STILL UNDER WARRANTY, JUST VERY CONCERNED WITH THIS ISSUE, CALLED DEALER LEFT VOICEMAIL, AND NO CALL BACK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SIX OR SEVEN OCCASIONS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
TL* THE CONTACT WAS 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING ON A INCLINE IN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHO STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DID NOT AGREE WITH THE DEALER STATEMENTS AND SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
PURCHASED THE TRUCK USED WITH 8,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKES SEEMED TO START GETTING. REAL TOUCHY AND ALMOST PUT YOU IN THE WINDSHIELD. TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AND. WAS TOLD THAT WAS NORMAL ON THE NEWER MODELS, AFTER SUGGESTING IT FELT LIKE THE TRAILER ASSIST DIDN'T FEEL LIKE IT WAS RELEASING. THE SERVICE ADVISOR EVEN SHOWED ME A PRINTED NOTE ON MY BILL THAT STATED THERE WAS NO SERVICE CONCERN. ALSO HAVING TRANSMISSION FLUTTER WHEN SLOWING FOR A STOP OR TO MAKE A TURN. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN TIMES WHEN THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS THEN DROPS INTO A GEAR. ALSO EXPERIENCING VIBRATION WHEN SLOWING DOWN. THE BODY ALSO BOUNCES BAD ENOUGH WHERE IT WILL GET TO THE POINT OF BEING UNCONTROLLABLE. I ONLY HAVE 26,000 MI ON THE TRUCK AND DRIVE HIGHWAY. TURNED INTO MY DRIVEWAY OFF THE STREET AND THE BODY SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO FALL OFF THE FRAME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE U-BOATS ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE THAT HOLD THE REAR AXLE IN PLACE, WERE NOT PROPERLY TIGHTENED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THERE WAS A CLANKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE REAR TIRES WERE BALANCED AND AN ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE U-BOATS WERE 50 POUNDS UNDER TORQUE. THE DEALER STATED THE REAR AXLE SHIFTED OUT OF PLACE ON THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE AXLE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT OF A HOSPITAL WHILE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE DEALER DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE FAILURE AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A FIRE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
HAVE BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES INCLUDING FAILING BACKUP CAMERA AT NIGHT AND TAIL LIGHTS NOT WORKING (DANGEROUS AT NIGHT) AS WELL AS FUSES BLOWING. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE BUT DEALER STATES THERE IS CORROSION IN THE FUSE PANEL BECAUSE WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE FORD IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WHERE WATER IS ENTERING THE VEHICLE ON THE DOT.GOV AND OTHER WEBSITES. THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, FORD KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE AND THERE IS NO REASON FOR THEM DO GET AWAY WITH ISSUES THAT MAY CAUSE FATAL CAR ACCIDENTS INCLUDING TAIL LIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5-8 MPH, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL CRASHING INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, BUT THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THIS WAS THE FIFTH TIME THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, BOTH REAR TIRES SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND SKIDDED ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED, BUT LATER RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO TWO GEARS SIMUTAMELOUSLY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED FROM SECOND TO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THAYER FORD (LOCATED AT 18039 N DIXIE HWY, BOWLING GREEN, OH 43402, (888) 440-5271) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING POWER UPON BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE - TWICE! AFTER THE FIRST TIME, THE TOW TRUCK MECHANIC REFILLED BRAKE FLUID LEVELS AND PARKED TRUCK BACK IN GARAGE. A FEW HOURS LATER, I TRIED BACKING THE TRUCK OUT OF THE GARAGE AND AGAIN DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKING POWER! AGAIN THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW, ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO LEAKS FOUND ANYWHERE ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. FURTHERMORE, NONE OF THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS APPEARED TO LET ME KNOW THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW DURING EITHER INCIDENT. DURING BOTH INCIDENTS I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO BRAKING POWER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE MOON ROOF WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. THE STRUCTURAL BEAMS WERE CUT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE HEAD LINER WAS MODIFIED, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ROOF TO COLLAPSE. AS A RESULT, THE SIDE AIR BAG TIMING WAS MODIFIED. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THEIR ATTORNEY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 25,000.
2010 F-150 FORD TRUCK SUDDENTLY BRAKES TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT ABRUPTLY SLOWING THE VEHICLE AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. FIRST OCCURANCE JUNE 29, 2011. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON ON THE DASH. FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL TO TURN THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF DOES NOT WORK. INSTANCE HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN TURNING. SUDDEN SLOWING AND VEERING IN INTERSECTIONS ALMOST HAVE CAUSED 2 ACCIDENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN/DRIVEN TO THE DEALER ON JULY 1, 2011 AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE DEFECT WAS REPAIRED. REACCURANCE ON JULY 6 & 7--- VEHICLE RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND I WAS ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE ON JULY 8. REACCURANCE ON JULY 15, TODAY. I WILL SEEK REPAIR AT ANOTHER DEALER. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT WHICH I FEAR MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TT
VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED ON CRUISE CONTROL. CRUISE CONTROL KICKED OFF. THEN POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUT AND A FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IN FRONT OF DRIVER SEAT. VEHICLE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SMOKE BEGAN TO FILL THE CAB. AT SIDE OF ROAD VEHICLE WAS EVACUATED VEHICLE BURNED TO THE GROUND. PHOTOS AVAILABLE FROM THE TIME THEY GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *KB
THE TIRE PRESSURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (TPMS) HAS A DEFECT IN IT THAT CAUSES THE SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION AND GIVE BOGUS WARNINGS. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO LOCAL DEALER 3 TIMES TO FIX. THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE WARNING LIGHT GOES OFF FREQUENTLY ENOUGH WHERE IT CAN CAUSE A CONSUMER TO IGNORE AN ACTUAL TIRE PRESSURE FAILURE. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A BIG ENOUGH ISSUE THAT THERE ARE MANY MESSAGE BOARDS DISCUSSING THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE OCCURS MOST FREQUENTLY AFTER DRIVING 20-25 MILES ON A DAY WHERE THERE HAS BEEN A TEMPERATURE CHANGE OF ABOUT 20 DEGREES OR WHEN IT IS RAINING. THE WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON AT LEAST 30 TIMES IN THE 6 MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. THE TIRE PRESSURES HAVE BEEN CHECKED NUMEROUS TIMES BY THE DEALER. THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN RESET BY THE DEALER. THEY CANNOT FIND OR DO NOT WANT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHILE IN RIGHT HAND TURN AT 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE SOUNDED BELLS BUT THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING. THE BREAKS BARELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE. ATTEMPTS TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AFTER STOPPING WERE UNSUCCESSFUL EVEN WITH FORCE. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, LET IT SET FOR A COUPLE MINUTES THEN STARTED THE ENGINE WHICH RESULTED IN NORMAL STEERING. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT TUTTLE CLICK FORD IN IRVINE, CA. *TR
WE NOTICED A VERY BUMPY RIDE, AS A PERSON WOULD EXPECT WHEN DRIVING DOWN A ROUGH GRAVEL ROAD WITH POT HOLES. WHEN THE FORD MECHANIC CHECKED IT OUT, WE WERE TOLD BOTH REAR SHOCKS WERE NO GOOD "GONE". WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY LOADS TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. IS THIS A DEFECT OR AN ISOLATED INCIDENT? *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V049000 (STRUCTURE: BODY: DOOR) AND CONTACTED THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST ONE TO TWO MONTHS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE RUNNING BOARDS WERE FRACTURED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FREEDOM FORD (3941 ADMIRAL PEARY HWY, EBENSBURG, PA 1593) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RUNNING BOARDS WERE FRACTURED, WHICH COULD CAUSE CARBON MONOXIDE TO ENTER THE CAB. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY TRUCK WONDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD AND SHAKES TO THE POINT THAT THE PASSENGER IS SICK. HARD TO STEER OUT OF RUTS AND CROSSWINDS BLOW THE TRUCK IN TO THE NEXT LANE AND YOU CAN'T CONTROL IT. CAN'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD IN FRONT OF YOU TO EVEN LOOK AT THE EXIT SIGNS BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND UNPREDICTABLE TO THE POINT THAT YOUR HANDS ARE GOING TO TURN NUMB FROM LACK OF BLOOD IN YOUR FINGERS DUE TO THE WHITE KNUCKLES FROM HANGING ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL SO TIGHT. VERY UNSAFE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES NOW AND THEY HAVE REPLACE BOTH FRONT SPRINGS AND STRUTS AND HAVE REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION 2 TIMES NOW. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FACTORY TIRES ARE NOT THAT GREAT AND HAVE SOFT SIDE WALLS AND THAT COULD BE THE REASON AS TO WHY IT'S NOT FIXED AND THE FORD SHOCKS ARE UNDER RATED FOR THE VEHICLE. SO I HAVE PUT NEW BILSTIEN 5100 SHOCKS ON ALL THE WAY AROUND AND HAVE PUT BETTER TIRES AND WHEELS ON IT. TRUCK STILL DOES THE SAME THING. THIS TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE. HERE ARE THE OTHER COMPLAINT #'S. 10392353, 10407502, 10336730. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE FORD HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED ANY OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE AREA I TRIED SPEEDING UP FROM ABOUT 50KPH (35MPH). THE TRUCK'S STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SWING BACK AND FORTH AND THE TRUCK WAS VIBRATING/SHAKING BADLY. MY 2010 FORD XTR 4X4 HAS APPROX. 36000 KMS (22000 MILES) ON IT. AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 85-95KPH (55-60MPH) THE TRUCK ALSO BEGINS TO SHAKE/VIBRATE. IN ADDITION, WHENEVER IT HITS ANY ROUGH PAVEMENT OR POTHOLES-EVEN THE SLIGHTEST- IT WOBBLES LIKE JELLY. IT HAS 18" GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TWICE TO THE DEALER WITHIN THE PAST 3 WEEKS. AFTER THE FIRST VISIT, I HAD THE TIRES RE-BALANCED JUST TO ELIMINATE TIRE BALANCE ISSUES. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW IN NOVEMBER 2010 WITH 5 MILES ON IT. IN MARCH MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING REPEATEDLY WHEN NO NEED FOR IT TO SHIFT WAS EVEN PRESENT. ALSO WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STAND STILL IF YOU SLOWLY ACCELERATE THEN GET ON THE GAS FULLY THEIR IS A HUGE DELAY IN ENGINE RESPONSE AS I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND FLOORED THE TRUCK AND ALMOST WAS HIT BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO MY NEED FOR FULL THROTTLE. I REPEAT THE DELAY ONLY OCCURS FROM A VERY SLOW ACCELERATE THEN TO A SUDDEN FULL THROTTLE FROM A STOP. THE TRUCK IS RESPONSIVE FROM DEAD STOP TO FULL THROTTLE. ANOTHER IS EXTREMELY HARD SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS BAD DROP INTO 1ST FROM 2ND. ALSO HAVE SLIGHT SHAKING ON TAKE OFF. TOOK VEHICLE IN THEY REPLACED SOME PART ON MY VEHICLE AND I HAVE IT BACK WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS, THEY EVEN WROTE ON MY RECEIPT THAT THEY STILL FELT PROBLEMS AFTER THE FIX! Front Left Brake stuck while driving in 2011. Stopped at a stop light and it looked like it was on fire. Pulled to the left and would not get over 50 miles an hour all the way home. 40 mile distance. I took it to an ASE certified mechanic and was told the brake line had collapsed . Had motorcraft brake line and brake pads installed. Later 2012 the right side done the same thing, it was so bad the rotor had to be changed out. 2014 Left side it happened again, this time I bought NAPA Auto parts, break line, brake pads, caliper and rotor. 2015 it happened again on the right side again. I got parts from Rock Auto. Brake pads, rotor, break line and caliper.. 2020 Left side it happened again , same process as before same parts bought again installed . now 1/10/2022 here Iam having to do it again. There is absolutely a problem with the 2010 F-150s, IM not the only person that has had this problem. My question is this,does someone have to die in an accident of brake failure, or die from a fire caused by the brakes heating before this public safety issue is fixed. Ford do a recall and inspect and repair if needed the problem before a death or injury happens. 2 years in to ownership and less that 60,000 miles I started have trouble ,and the mechanic had all ready been advised about the brake line problem is very telling. I want to file a legal complaint against Ford should something happen in the future to me or anyone else out there with a 2010 to 2014 F-150.
UPON ENTERING AND STARTING THE TRUCK THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT WORK AT ALL IN 4 SEPARATE CASES, THE 5TH OCCURRENCE THE DRIVERS SIDE WIPER WORKED BUT NOT THE PASSENGER SIDE. OBVIOUSLY I ONLY USE THE WIPERS IN BAD WEATHER SO WHEN I NEED THEM MOST FOR SAFETY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE NOT FUNCTIONED. WHILE BREAKING TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION THE TRUCK UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATES AND WILL NOT STOP. THE ABS BRAKE PULSATIONS CONTINUED WALKING THE F150 INTO THE INTERSECTION AS THE ENGINE RPMS CLIMBES. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE REVVES VERY HIGH, I RELEASED THE BRAKE AND THEN SLAMMED IT BACK DOWN. THE RPMS DROP TO NORMAL AND THE TRUCK STOPPES. IT HAS DONE THIS ONCE EVERY YEAR SINCE 2011. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COMMON FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND ON THE INTERNET. ALL 3 LOCAL FORD DEALERS ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED A 2010 FORD F-150 IN AUGUST 2010. I RECENTLY BECAME AWARE OF A LIGHTING ISSUE ON THE DASHBOARD CONTROL PANEL CLUSTER. WHILE DRIVING INTO WORK ONE MORNING AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30AM, I NOTICED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTING HAD GONE OFF . IT WAS JUST SLIGHTLY AFTER SUNRISE AND WAS STILL QUITE DARK OUTSIDE. AFTER THE PROBLEM RECURRING SEVERAL MORE TIMES, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT, AND AFTER A BRIEF 20 MINUTES OR SO WAS TOLD THE CLUSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND IT WASN'T UNTIL I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET IF ANY OTHER CONSUMERS OF THIS MODEL TRUCK WERE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS, THAT I HAD AN EXPLANATION FOR THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY FORD ENGINEERED A LIGHT SENSOR THAT SITS ON THE DASHBOARD AND TURNS OFF THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT LIGHTING WHEN THE SENSOR DETECTS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF EXTERNAL LIGHT. THERE IS NO WAY TO PROPERLY OVERRIDE THE SENSOR TO MY KNOWLEDGE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT SOMETIMES WILL SHUT OFF LIGHTING WHEN THERE ARE STILL VERY LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS OUTSIDE. IN SEVERAL INSTANCES, I WAS DRIVING IN LOW LIGHT AND THE SENSOR HAD DEACTIVATED MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTING AND I COULDN'T READ MY INSTRUMENTS UNLESS I TOOK MY EYE OFF THE ROAD AND DUCKED MY HEAD DOWN ALMOST AGAINST THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. APPARENTLY, OTHER CONSUMERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND SOME HAVE REPORTED THAT THEY WERE TOLD BY FORD THAT THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CHANGE IT. ONE CONSUMER WENT ON TO SAY THEY HAD FABRICATED A PIECE OF ELECTRICAL TAPE THAT, WHEN PLACED OVER THE SENSOR WOULD DEACTIVATE IT. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN. THE DRIVER SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WHENEVER HE OR SHE FEELS THE NEED TO. DRIVING IN ALMOST NEAR DARKNESS WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO TURN ON THE LIGHTS IS RIDICULOUS. I HOPE TO SEE ALL OF THEIR LIGHT SENSOR VEHICLES RECALLED AND THE SENSORS REMOVED. *TR

FORD HAS ADVISED ME 'IT IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED'. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS THE INABILITY TO QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY READ YOUR SPEED IS PARAMOUNT TO DRIVING ANY VEHICLE. THE ENGINEERING SHORTCOMING MUST BE REMEDIED. GOOGLE '2010 FORD F150 DASHBOARD LIGHT PROBLEMS' AND YOU GET 7 PAGES OF CONCERNS....... THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE LIGHTS WORK NORMALLY DURING ANY DAYLIGHT CONDITION IS TO COVER THE DASHBOARD SENSOR WITH A RAG. THE OWNERS MANUAL SECTION ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS, HEADLAMP SWITCHES AND EVEN AURO LAMP AND DIMMER ALL STATE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL ILLUMINATE ANY TIME ANY EXTERIOR LAMP IS LIT....THIS IS NOT TRUE. 3RD BRAKE LIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE CAB WAS LEAKING. WATER AGAINST THE ELECTRONICS FOR THE LIGHT COULD CAUSE THE LIGHT NOT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY RESULTING IN A CRASH. FORD REPLACED THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
ON OR ABOUT JULY 15TH 2010 I PURCHASED MY FORD F150 BRAND NEW WITH 3 MILES ON IT. NO PROBLEMS OCCURRED UNTIL DECEMBER 31ST 2010. HEADING NORTH ON A 3 LANE HIGHWAY THE TRUCK JUST "SHUT OFF"..DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC. I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO RESTART AND WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL 3RD ATTEMPT. I LOOKED AT THE GAS GAGE, IT READ 3/4 FULL. THIS DID NOT REOCCUR UNTIL JANUARY 3RD, 2011. THE SAME AS BEFORE STALLED WITH FULL TANK OF GAS.THIRD TIME OCCURRED JANUARY 19TH, 2011 WITH MY WIFE DRIVING AND 2 MINOR CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS AGAIN HAPPENED STALLED ON HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, WITH FULL TANK OF GAS. STATE TROOPER WITH HIGHWAY PATROL HAD TO STOP TRAFFIC AND PUSH THE TRUCK TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTED THE FULL TANK OF GAS. TOWED TO FORD WHO REFUSED TO FIX THIS VEHICLE CLAIMING THAT THIS DEFECT NEEDED TO REOCCUR WITH A FLIGHT RECORDER ATTACHED TO IT, BUT FORD DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO DRIVE IT STATING"IT WAS A LIABILITY TO THEIR BUISNESS AND COULD CAUSE INJURY TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STAFF"...THEY THEN REFUSED TO KEEP IT ANY LONGER AND DELIVERED IT TO OUR HOME WITH THE SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT STILL UNTOUCHED! *TR
WHILE DRIVING TOWARD A BUSY INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER! INCLUDING BRAKES AND STEERING! I ROLLED OUT INTO THE MAJOR HIGHWAY CAUSING VEHICLES TO HAVE TO SWERVE TO MISS ME! THIS IS NOT SAFE!! THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK, NOR WOULD ANYTHING ELSE ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE THE POWER CAME BACK ON TO THE TRUCK AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. I HAVE 2 BABIES THAT RIDE WITH ME AND WILL NOT TAKE A CHANCE OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN! THE TRUCK IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL NOT BE PICKED UP UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED AND RETAINED A LAWYER SHOULD THIS MAJOR PROBLEM BECOME AN ISSUE FOR ME. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A VEHICLE DEFECT THAT CAN BE CLOSELY COMPARED TO THE TOYOTA RECALL! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM!!
MY FORD F-150 TRUCK(MILAGE,529) HAS STALLED OR LOST POWER AND STALLED 10 TIMES ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE PROBLEM STARTED ON 01-14-11. THE FIRST TWO VISITS TO THE DEALER THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CONDITION OR FIND A CODE IN THE COMPUTER. NO MECHANICAL WORK WAS PERFORMED. ON 01-26-11 THE WRENCH APPEARED, I DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. THE TECH FOUND TWO CONFLICTING CODES. HE E-MAILED FORD TECH CENTER WITH THE PROBLEM. ON 01-28-11 THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. (CODE P0505) ON 02-01-11 TRUCK STALLED AGAIN, THIS TIME THEY REPLACE THE RESONATOR(PIN POINT LEAK TO THE RESONATOR HOSE CODE P0102 AT 9511 MILES. ON 02-08-11 TRUCK STALLED AT A STOP SIGN. ( NO WRENCH) ON 02-15-11 TRUCK STALLED TWICE (WRENCH SHOWED UP ) AT MILEAGE 9,525- 14 MILES SINCE THE RESONATOR WORK. ON 02-16-11 I HAD A MEETING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE WAS VERY COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL. I GAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER A COPY OF A REPORT ON PROBLEMS FOR 2010 FORD F-150 TRUCKS. ON 02-16-11 TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO DEALER. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. THE TRUCK STALLS BETWEEN 10 AND 40 MPH YOU LOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER THE TRUCK.ON ONE OCCASION I WAS TURNING INTO MY PROPERTY MAKING A LEFT TURN. I WAS GOING SLOW SO I WAS ABLE TO STOP BEFORE I HIT A SNOW BANK. ONCE YOU LOSE POWER STEERING THERE IS NO WAY TO STEER THE TRUCK AND THE BREAKS FADE VERY FAST. *TR
2010 FORD F150...DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN IN VERY LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS OR VERY BRIGHT LIGHT CONDITIONS IF EQUIPPED WITH 'AUTO LAMP'...IT WILL ONLY ILLUMINATE IN PITCH BLACK ENVIRONMENTS. INSTRUMENT PANEL IS RECESSED 8 INCHES INTO DASH AND YOU CANNOT SEE THE SPEEDOMETER OR OTHER GAUGES AS YOU DRIVE.....THIS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AS KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR SPEED IS MANDATORY FOR SAFE VEHICLE OPERATION IN ANY LIGHT ENVIRONMENT.
