TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
VEHICLE ENGINE HAS STOPPED WHILE IN MOTION ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ON 5 OCT 2012 WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 45 MPHS AND ONCE ON 19 OCT 2012 WHILE COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. WAS UNABLE TO RESTART AT STOP LIGHT FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM BECAUSE I LOST CONTROL OF ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG MY MAKE AND YEAR MODEL. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL VAPOR VALVE ASSEMBLY. REMAINS TO BE SEEN AS TO WHETHER THE PROBLEM IS FIXED OR NOT. OF COURSE, THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE IGNITION TO STOP THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT SOMETHING HAD MOST LIKELY BECAME STUCK ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AS THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE NOR GENERATE A FAILURE CODE DURING THE DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 43,000.
REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER/WINDOW ASSEMBLY CONNECTION DEFECTIVE, SHORTS OUT CAUSING FIRE AND GLASS BREAKAGE. I DROPPED OFF MY DAUGHTER AT PRESCHOOL AND FIVE MINUTES LATER I NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DEFROSTER WINDOW BEHIND HER CAR SEAT. I PULLED OVER TO FIND THIS BECOMING A FIRE. IT BEGAN AS SMOKE, THEN SPARK, AND THEN FLAME. FORTUNATELY, I HAD A BOTTLE OF WATER IN MY TRUCK, WHICH I BEGAN TO POUR ON IT TO STOP. IT GOT WORSE WITH THE SPARKS, BUT EVENTUALLY WENT OUT. WHILE TRYING TO DISTINGUISH THE FIRE, THE "EXPLOSION" OCCURRED SHATTERING THE REAR WINDOW. I TOOK THIS TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND BEGAN TO RESEARCH ISSUE. I QUICKLY FOUND SEVERAL FORD FORUMS WHERE OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ON 2010 F150 FORD TRUCKS. HERE'S A LINK TO ONE THAT HELPS EXPLAIN THE ISSUE CLEARLY. OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE DEFROSTER/WINDOW UNIT CAUSING A VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE. BUT THERE WAS NO NEED TO PUSH ISSUE FURTHER DUE TO THEIR FORD DEALER UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUE AND COVERING THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE FORD'S PREMIUMCARE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH SHOULD COVER THIS BUT MY DEALER IS SEEING ONLY AS GLASS BREAKAGE AND REFUSING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WOULD BE NO GLASS BREAKAGE IF THE DEFECTIVE ASSEMBLY DIDN'T CAUSE A FIRE, AND IF I DIDN'T HAVE SOMETHING TO PUT OUT THE FIRE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR MORE DAMAGE..WITH COLD WEATHER COMING, AND MORE RECENT INCIDENTS POSTED, THERE WILL BE MORE INSTANCES OF THIS IN THE NEAR FUTURE ON 2010 FORD F150 TRUCKS. WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE DIED WHICH DISABLED THE POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, I WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE AND CONTINUE DRIVING. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER CODES AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. AS A SIDE NOTE, NOTHING IS WRONG ACCORDING TO THEM UNLESS THE COMPUTER FINDS AN ERROR CODE. *TR
WENT TO WARM UP MY TRUCK THIS MORNING AS IT WAS 36 DEGREES AND LIGHT FROST ON THE VEHICLE. TURNED ON THE IGNITION ALONG WITH THE SEAT WARMER FOR DRIVERS SIDE AND DEFROST. WENT INSIDE AND AS I WATCHED THE TRUCK THERE WAS A SMALL SPARK/FLAME ON THE LEFT BOTTOM CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. HEARD A LOUD POP AND RAN OUT TO THE TRUCK TO FIND THAT THE PORTION OF GLASS HAD SHATTERED, STILL INTACT. WILL TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THIS AFTERNOON. *TR UPDATED 11/07/12*LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN SPARKING FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE AFTER DRIVING OVER ROAD DEBRIS. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEGINNING TO IGNITE IN FLAMES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR INSPECTED FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,300. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
GROWLING NOISE IN 4X2 WHEN I PUT VEHICLE IN 4X4 NOISE GOES AWAY. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK (50 MILES EACH WAY) STARTED TRIP WITH 1/2 TANK OF GAS GAUGE REPORTED I HAD AROUND 180 MILE TO EMPTY. 20 MILES LATER GOT THE WARNING TONE THAT I WAS 50 MILES FROM EMPTY. I WORKED MY WAY OVER TO EXIT THE FREEWAY WITHIN FOUR MILES AS I WAS EXITING COMPUTER READ ZERO MILES TO EMPTY. AS I WAS TURNING INTO THE GAS STATION TRUCK DIED. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES TRUCK RESTARTED AND I GOT INTO THE STATION TO PUMP IN SOME GAS. I PUT IN FIVE GALLONS BE CERTAIN THAT IT WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO GET ME HOME. COMPUTER THEN READ 190 MILES TO EMPTY. DROVE THE FINAL 25 MILES HOME WHEN I ARRIVED HOME THE COMPUTER WAS READING AROUND 25 MILES TO EMPTY. I CHECKED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND UNDERNEATH LOOKING FOR AND SMELLING FOR FUEL LEAKS. NOTHING WAS FOUND BUT THERE WAS AN INDENTATION IN THE TANK BEHIND THE FORWARD BAND HOLDING THE TANK. I OPENED THE FUEL DOOR AND WHILE MESSING AROUND WITH THE CAP-LESS SYSTEM I HEARD AND FELT AIR RUSHING INTO THE TANK. LOCAL DEALER RE-FLASHED THE COMPUTER PER A TSB. FOUR DAYS TRUCK DIES AGAIN. STARTED TRIP WITH 159 MILES TO EMPTY 1/4 TANK 18 MILES LATER IT IS READING 35 MILES TO EMPTY 5 MILES LATER IT DIED SHOWING 7 MILES TO EMPTY. I THE PUT 6 GALLONS OF GAS IN COMPUTER READS 24 MILES TO EMPTY. BACK TO THE FORD DEALER THEY CALL TO SAY THAT THEY BELIEVE IT IS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR BUT WANT TO KEEP THE TRUCK FOR ANOTHER DAY AND PUT SOME MORE GAS IN AT MY EXPENSE. THEY ORDERED SENSOR AND HAD ME TAKE TRUCK HOME TILL PART CAME IN. RETURN TO FORD THURSDAY MORNING TO HAVE SENDER INSTALLED LATER IN THE DAY I RECEIVE A CALL SAYING MY FUEL PUMP IS BENT SO SERVICE IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY THEY SAYING THAT I MUST HAVE RUN OVER SOMETHING OR GONE OFF-ROAD AND DAMAGED THE PUMP. IN LOOKING AT THE PUMP TODAY YES THE RODS ARE BENT BUT EVEN THE MECHANIC AGREED THAT THERE IS NO VISIBLE PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE TANK ITSELF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS ENGAGED WHEN THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD, ABNORMAL NOISE. SHE THEN NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
FOR NO APPARENT REASON POWER STEERING PUMP MADE LABORING NOISE WHEN WHEEL TURNED. OBSERVED LEAKING POWER STEERING HOSE. DIAGNOSED BY FORD DEALER AS SUCH AND COULD NOT REPAIR DUE TO A NATIONAL BACKORDER OF THE NEEDED HOSE AND NEITHER FORD OR DEALER COULD SAY WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. VEHICLE IS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY HOWEVER THE THIRD PARTY WARRANTY COMPANY WOULDN'T WARRANT REPAIR USING A LOCALLY FABRICATED HOSE BECAUSE FABRICATOR WOULD NOT WARRANT PART FOR 12 MONTHS THEREFORE I AM FACED WITH PAYING FOR ENTIRE COST OF REPAIR BY DEALER. NEITHER DEALER NOR FORD WOULD OWN UP TO PAYING FOR THE REPAIR OR RENTAL OF A CAR WHILE MY TRUCK IS IN SHOP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE NOTICED THAT WATER LEAKED THROUGH THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE NECESSARY PARTS TO PERFORM REPAIRS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
: MY 2010 F-150 XLT HAS SPIDER WEB CRACKS ON THE HEADLAMP HOUSING BOTH SIDES. I HAVE KEPT MY VEHICLE IN A GARAGE EVERY NIGHT. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS A 2009 F-150 THAT HAS 65,000 MILES AND HIS HAVE NO CRACKS. I CALLED MAXWELL FORD IN AUSTIN WHO IS WHERE I PURCHASED TWO VEHICLES THERE IN JANUARY 2012 AND WAS TOLD ITS PLASTIC AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THESE CRACKS DID NOT DEVELOP FROM ROCKS OR OTHER THINGS STRIKING THE HEADLAMPS. IT LOOKS TO ME THAT IT IS SOME TYPE OF DEFECT AND I HAVE TAKEN PHOTOGRAPHS OF THEM FOR YOU TO SEE. I WANT THEM REPLACED. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON MY VEHICLE. THE SPIDER WEB CRACKS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE HEADLAMP PERFORMANCE. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE DURING TWO COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURES. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT MASTER CYLINDER FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKE PRESSURE. DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT NEW BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM INSTALLED ON MY10 F150 IS NOT TRIGGERED BY PRESSURE LOSS, BUT RATHER ONLY BY SIGNIFICANT FLUID LOSS IN THE RESERVOIR. I LOST BRAKE PRESSURE AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY WARNING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. IN FACT, WHEN I WAS LOSING BRAKE POWER, I WAS STARING RIGHT AT THE DASHBOARD AND NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING EITHER BRAKE FAILURE. FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER AS THEY HAVE ISSUED A TSB FOR IT. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE DRIVING F150S THAT MAY LOSE COMPLETE BRAKING CONTROL AND HAVE NO ADVANCE WARNING THAT SOMETHING WILL GO WRONG DUE TO THE NEW BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM THAT FORD HAS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MASTER CYLINDER AND/OR LINKAGE CAN FAIL CAUSING IMMEDIATE PRESSURE LOSS BEFORE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FLUID LOSS TRIGGERS THE WARNING. BY THAT TIME, IT IS TOO LATE. THE DRIVER HAS ALREADY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT REQUIRES NHTSA INTERVENTION BEFORE SOMEONE IS NEEDLESSLY KILLED.
COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING POWER UPON BACKING OUT OF GARAGE - TWICE! AFTER THE FIRST TIME, THE TOW TRUCK MECHANIC REFILLED BRAKE FLUID LEVELS AND PARKED TRUCK BACK IN GARAGE. A FEW HOURS LATER, I TRIED BACKING THE TRUCK OUT OF THE GARAGE AND AGAIN DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKING POWER AND AGAIN THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. THERE WERE NO LEAKS FOUND ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. IN NEITHER CASE DID THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS INDICATE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM! DURING BOTH INCIDENTS, I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO BRAKING POWER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. WHILE ACTIVATING THE WINDOW DEFROSTER WHILE DRIVING, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION. THE PASSENGER REACHED FOR THE TOP HANDLE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR JUST AS THE VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER'S RIGHT THUMB WAS COMPLETELY SEVERED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES AND CONTUSIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
THE INSTRUSTMENT PANEL OF THE TRUCK HAS FAILED. THE PANEL WHILE DRIVING GOES THROUGH ALL CYCLES OF LIGHTS, BELLS, AND OPTIONS ON THE INSTRUSTMENT CLUSTER , CAUSING US TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE CURRENT INFORMATION. THE AC GOES OUT EACH TIME IT HAPPENS. THE TRUCK WILL NOT START MANY TIMES- AND YOU HAVE TO HIT THE DASH BOARD TO MAKE IT START - TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. IT HAS GONE OUT OF GEAR ONCE DURING THIS. WE HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING ON THE PART FOR OVER A MONTH, WE ARE TOLD EACH TIME IT IS ON BACK ORDER. THEREFORE, LEADING US TO BELIEVE A LARGE NUMBER OF FORD TRUCK OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAVE SPOKE TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS THIS MORNING- AND NOW TOLD IT WILL BE ESTIMATED THE 9TH FOR PART TO ARRIVE AND THEY WILL NOT FOLLOW UP UNTIL THE 12TH. WHICH IS CAUSING US TO HAVE A FAULTY- POTENTIALLY UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR OVER ONE AND HALF MONTHS. *TR
WENT OUT AND STARTED MY VEHICLE TO LET IT WARM UP WHILE I WALKED MY DOG FIRST THING IN THE MORNING BEFORE HEADING TO WORK. AFTER RUNNING FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES I WAS READY TO HEAD TO WORK. I OPENED MY DRIVERS DOOR AND ALL THE SUDDEN HEARD A LOUD "POW" VERY LOUD. I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW THE BACK WINDOW HAD EXPLODED THROWING TINY SHARDS OF GLASS ALL OVER. IT COULD HAVE EXPLODED IN A CHILD'S EYES OR MY DOGS. THE WINDOW IS THE REAR ELECTRIC HEATED SLIDING GLASS. THE PASSENGER SIDE IS THE ONE THAT BLEW. I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE LADY TOLD ME SHE HAS SEEN SEVERAL OF THEM DO THAT. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING, BECAUSE OF THE LOUD NOISE AND BECAUSE OF THE FLYING GLASS. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT OR THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED WITH GLASS. TRUCK IS BEING REPAIRED, SO I DON'T HAVE THE ACCESS VIN RIGHT NOW. NOW I WILL NOT USE MY DEFROSTER FOR FEAR THE WINDOW WILL BLOW, AND IT ALSO DEFROST MY MIRRORS. THIS WILL RESULT IN LESS VISIBILITY ON COLD OR DAMP DAYS WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE FROZEN OR DEW ON THEM. *TR
ENGINE STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKING. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ERROR CODE WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED. AFTER THE ENGINE HAD STALLED FOR ABOUT 32-35 TIMES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP TO READ THE CODE WHICH INDICATED THAT THE EVAP SYSTEM WAS BLOCKED. MY DEALER DETERMINED THAT A SOLENOID IN THE FUEL EVAP. SYSTEM HAD FAILED. DURING THE NEXT 2 MONTHS, IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. HOWEVER, ON JULY 5TH 2012, IT STALLED AGAIN WHEN I MADE TURNS IN THE LOCAL. I SENT THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER SHOP AGAIN AND THEY STILL DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM, SINCE IT HAPPENED INTERMITTENT. NOW I AM AFRAID OF DRIVING MY TRUCK. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND I FOLLOWED THEIR DIRECTIONS. NOT TURNING THE KEY DIDN'T HELP ANYTHING WITH OBTAINING CODES, BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL NOT GETTING ANY READINGS. I SPOKE WITH THE SHOP MANAGER. HE THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A BAD COIL CAUSING BAD RADIO FREQUENCIES, THUS SHUTTING DOWN THE THROTTLE BODY (TB). HE SAID HE WOULD TEST THE COILS AND REPLACE ANY DAMAGED ONE. IF THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM, HE WOULD REPLACE THE TB. AFTER 13 DAYS, THEY STILL CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM, NOR HAVE THEY MADE ANY KIND OF REPAIRS, EXCEPT FOR PERFORMING A COURTESY CLEANING OF MY THROTTLE BODY AND "RESETTING" THE TRUCK'S COMPUTER. THE "DOWNHILL DECENT CONTROL FAULT" LIGHT COMES ON AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN THE FAULT LIGHT COMES ON AND REMAINS ON., IT ALSO CAUSES THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE TO COME ON AND REMAIN ON UNTIL YOU CAN THE FAULT LIGHT DECIDES TO GO OFF. SO WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND EVEN WORSE, WHEN IN TRAFFIC, THE FAULT LIGHT MAY COME ON AND CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO SHINE, SIGNALING TO OTHER DRIVERS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS SLOWING OR COMING TO A STOP, WHEN IT IS NOT. THIS CAN, IN CERTAIN INSTANCES, BE VERY DANGEROUS. TURNING THE VEHICLE IGNITION OFF WILL AT TIME ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM, BUT THAT IS NOT ALWAYS AN OPTION WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, OR IN TRAFFIC. THE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON WITH NO WARNING, AND WITH NO USE OF THE SYSTEM THAT IS INDICATED IS FAULTING. *TR
DURING DAY TIME DRIVING IN RAIN OR OVERCAST THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE SPEED YOU ARE GOING. SWITCHING FROM AUTOMATIC TO MANUAL CONTROL OF HEADLIGHTS HAS NO EFFECT ON DASH LIGHTS. THEY STAY OFF! I BELIEVE THIS AFFECTS ALL CURRENT FORD VEHICLES. *TR
STARTED TRUCK AT 0700 AM, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 50 DEGREES. THE REAR WINDOW WAS FOGGY SO I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING ALONG A ROAD WITH NO TRAFFIC I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION THAT SOUNDED LIKE A LARGE ROCK HAD LANDED ON THE ROOF OF MY TRUCK. I PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED MY ROOF AND ALL EXTERIOR PANELS OF THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY DAMAGE THAT COULD HAVE JUSTIFIED THE NOISE. I COULD NOT FIND ANY "ROCKS" IN OR AROUND MY VEHICLE...NO PEDESTRIANS WERE IN SITE. RETURNED TO CAB AND AS I WAS PULLING BACK ONTO THE ROADWAY I NOTICED THAT MY REAR WINDOW (RIGHT PANEL) WAS SHATTERED. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP THAT EVENING AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A WARRANTABLE REPAIR. THE GLASS REMAINED INTACT AND THERE WERE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF A PROJECTILE HITTING THE GLASS (I HAVE PHOTOS). I INSISTED THAT A WARRANTY CLAIM BE OPENED, AND I CONTACTED CUSTOMER RELATIONS. FORD THEN TESTED THE DEFROSTER AND COULD NOT FIND A MALFUNCTION SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE FAILURE. I HAVE PHOTOS, A CASE NUMBER, DEALER INVOICE, AND VOICE MAIL RECORDINGS OF THE 3 WEEKS OF HELL TRYING TO GET FORD TO DO THE RIGHT THING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE FLOOR MATS BECAME STUCK UNDER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE SUDDENLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE FLOOR MATS WERE ISSUED WITH THE VEHICLE AND TO REQUEST A REFUND FROM THE PARTS DEPARTMENT. THE DEALER DID NOT REMOVE THE FLOOR MATS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED HE NEEDED TO SHOW A RECEIPT BEFORE A REFUND COULD BE ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-F150 XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE MAIN COMPUTER AND THE WIRING BLOCKS NEEDED REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 5,000 MILES AFTER REPAIRS AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,900.
DASH INSTRUMENT LIGHTING DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN MANUALLY TURNING ON THE HEADLAMPS. THE CLUSTER LAMPS ARE APPARENTLY CONTROLLED AUTOMATICALLY BY A SENSOR LOCATED ON THE DASH, HOWEVER IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE DASH METERS WHEN IT IS DARK ENOUGH TO TURN ON THE HEADLAMPS, BUT NOT LIGHT ENOUGH FOR THE SENSOR TO ENGAGE. YOU CAN BE DRIVING IN A RAINSTORM AND HEADLAMPS ARE NEEDED, BUT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LAMPS WILL NOT TURN ON AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ANY OF THE READINGS ON THE GAUGES. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. JUST THE WAY IT THE VEHICLE IS DESIGNED. THIS IS HAZARDOUS CONDITION THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR
AROUND 25000 MILES THE TRUCK HAS DEVELOPED A SIGNIFICANT SHAKE WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT 65 OR ABOVE MPH. IT HAS BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON FREEWAYS. FORD MOTORS REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE SITUATION OR MAKE REPAIRS ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN FULL WARRANTY. *TR
