I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG. THEN I HEARD THE REAR WINDOW CRACKLING AND LOOKED BACK AND NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD EXPLODED AND SHATTERED. IT WAS ONLY BEING HELD TOGETHER BY THE FACTORY TINT BUT THERE WERE GLASS SHARDS THROUGHOUT THE BACK SEAT WHERE MY CHILDREN SIT. THE WINDOW IS A POWER SLIDING REAR WINDOW WITH DEFROST. I ALSO HAD THE REAR DEFROST ON DURING THE TIME WHICH MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE WINDOW SHATTERING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXTREME FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT DOESN'T SEAL PROPERLY, ALLOWING WATER TO LEAK THROUGH DURING RAIN & CAR WASH. TOOK THE TRUCK TO FORD ONCE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THEY CAULKED AND RESEATED THE LIGHT, BUT IT STARTED AGAIN. WE TOOK THE RAPTOR BACK TO FORD DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE US $215 TO PUT IN A NEW LIGHT. #1. MANUFACTURER/FORD DEFECT & #2. AFTERMARKET AND OEM ARE CHEAPER ONLINE. ON A ~50 DEGREE MORNING, I TURNED ON MY REAR DEFROST WHEN MY REAR WINDOW (PASSENGER SIDE) SHATTERED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER I TURNED IT ON. THIS IS A 3 PIECE WINDOW AS THE MIDDLE IS A SLIDER ON THE PICKUP, ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE BROKE. I WAS DRIVING WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND AS THERE MUST BE A SHORT OR FAULTY WIRING IN THE REAR DEFROST. THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BY FORD AND SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK UPON ENGAGEMENT AS THE RPMS BEGAN TO ABNORMALLY INCREASE TO 4,000. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL EVENTUALLY RELEASED AFTER REPEATED FORCE WAS APPLIED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE WHEN THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD F-150 CREW CAB. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE REVIEW DEFROSTER WAS ACTIVATED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED. THE TEMPERED GLASS SHATTERED BUT DID NOT FALL INTO THE CABIN. IN ADDITION, A BURNING ODOR AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE REAR WINDOW SEAL WITHOUT FLAMES BEING VISIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY STATED THAT THE DEFECT WAS NOT COVERED IN THE SERVICE WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,800.
I WAS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND MADE AUDIBLE BEEP AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN. PLACED TRUCK IN PARK AND RESTARTED RIGHT UP PLACED INTO DRIVE AND DROVE AWAY WITHOUT ISSUE WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ALWAYS IN THE SAME WAY IN SAME ORDER COMPLETE STOP OIL LIGHT BEEP AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER AND SINCE NO ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON AND NO STORED CODES WE FOUND I WAS SENT ON MY WAY. SINE I OWNS OWN SCAN TOOLS AND AM NOW OUT OF WARRANTY I HAVE NEED TO BRING TO DEALER TO WASTE MY TIME WHEN THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE UNTIL THERE IS A RECALL. *TR

I OWN A 2010 FORD F-150 FX4 PICKUP, PURCHASED NEW OCTOBER 2009. APPROXIMATELY IN 2013 THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING. THE TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH A POWER REAR SLIDING WINDOW FROM FORD. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THE FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED ME THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE WINDOW ITSELF, AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, OR FORD AT ALL. I HAVE NOTICED MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB FROM OWNERS OF FORD PICKUPS OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL, THE MAJORITY OF THEM EXPERIENCING BROKEN REAR WINDOWS, SMOKE AND DAMAGE. LIKE MANY, I HAVE A SMALL CHILD THAT SITS IN A REAR FACING CHILD'S CAR SEAT, AND AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT IS VERY APPARENT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE, BUT IS NOT WILLING TO ADMIT TO IT, OR TAKE STEPS TO ADDRESS IT. THIS ISSUE IS A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR FORD PICKUP OWNERS, ALWAYS WORRYING IF IT WILL HAPPEN TO THEM, AND WHEN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE BSM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TRUCK STALLS INTERMITTENTLY. USUALLY IT IS WHILE COMING TO A STOP BUT OCCASIONALLY IT IS WHILE MAKING A SLOW TURN. THIS MEANS THE POWER STEERING GOES AS DO THE BRAKES. VERY SCARY. THE ENGINE CODES HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND SINCE THEY DO NOT SHOW ANYTHING THE TRUCK IS CONSIDERED GOOD. YET IT CONTINUES TO STALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT HEATER QUIT WORKING AFTER MY WIFE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT "GETTING SO HOT IT WAS LITERALLY BURNING HER LEGS". I TOOK APART THE SEAT TODAY TO REPLACE THE HEATING PAD BECAUSE I HAD READ ABOUT THIS BEING A COMMON PROBLEM. TO MY SURPRISE MY WIFE WAS NOT EXAGGERATING. THERE WERE BURN MARKS ON THE FOAM INSULATION AROUND A CONNECTING PIECE OF THE BOTTOM SEAT HEATER. MY TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY, OTHERWISE I PROBABLY WOULD'VE JUST DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALER AND NEVER WITNESSED THIS MYSELF. *TR

I HAD MY TRUCK PARKED OUTSIDE DURING A HEAVY SNOWFALL DAY AT WORK. I WENT OUT AND STARTED IT TO LET IT WARM UP AND TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST. WHEN I GOT IN TO LEAVE I NOTICED MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED, NOT IN AN AREA WHERE VANDALISM IS POSSIBLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT A PLUG ATTACHED TO THE RESISTER WIRE HAD MELTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE PLUG, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. 2010 FORD F-150. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE APPROXIMATELY 28 DEGREES. STARTED VEHICLE AND TURNED ON REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. DROVE ABOUT 1 MILE AND WAS WAITING ALONE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. HEARD VERY LOUD BANG NOISE CONSISTENT TO A CRASH OR MUFFLED SMALL CALIBER BULLET BEING FIRED. STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE TO CONFIRM I WAS ALONE ON ROAD AND WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT. (I WAS COMPLETELY ALONE AT 6AM WITH NO OTHER CARS IN SITE). I NOTICED THE RIGHT (PASSENGER) SIDE REAR WINDOW HAD SPIDER WEBBED AND COMPLETED SHATTERED. REAR WINDOW IS 3 PANES, RIGHT MIDDLE, LEFT. RIGHT SIDE WINDOW THAT SHATTERED WAS EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH COMPARED TO MIDDLE AND LEFT (DRIVER) SIDE. CONTACTING FORD AS I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY 2010 F150S WITH TRI REAR WINDOWS. *TR

I STARTED MY TRUCK ON A COLD MORNING AND NO MORE THEN 10 SECONDS AFTER I STARTED IT MY POWER STEERING LINE EXPLODED OFF AND POWER STEERING FLUID WENT EVERY WHERE. SINCE MARCH OF 2013 IT HAS COME OFF TWO MORE TIMES DECEMBER 2013 AND JANUARY 2014. I'VE LOOKED AT OTHER F-150 MOTORS AND WE HAVE THE SAME SET UP, SO I'M NOT SURE WHY MINE KEEP EXPLODING OFF. ISSUES BEGAN ON FRIDAY MORNING. HAD A WARNING ON DASH INDICATING LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR, WHEN IN FACT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. TOOK TO DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A BAD SENSOR AND FOR $400 THEY COULD FIX IT. FAULTY WARNING WILL NOT LET AUTO LOCKS ENGAGE OR ALARM TO SET AS IT IS READING THE DOOR AS OPEN. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH A CHILD, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND YOU HAPPEN TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. POSSIBLE EJECTION OF PASSENGERS. THEN CAME OUT TO THE TRUCK ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND NOTICED THE REAR SEATS WERE WET. UNABLE TO FIND OUT WHY. FURTHER INVESTIGATION TODAY REVEALS THAT THE HEADLINER IS DAMAGED FROM WATER DAMAGE. READING SEVERAL PLACES ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THE F-150 HAS A BAD LEAKING PROBLEM FROM THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ON THE REAR OF THE CAB. THIS WILL NOW HAVE TO BE FIXED AND REPLACED AND THE TRUCK IS HARDLY 3 YEARS OLD. DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY "FORD BUILT" PRODUCTS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING AND THE REAR WINDOW POPPED, SMELLED LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. TRUCK IS STILL AT THE SHOP THEY CANNOT ID THE ISSUE I FEAR THAT IF ONLY THE GLASS IS REPLACED THAT THIS ISSUE WILL REOCCUR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD THE REAR DEFROST RUNNING AS IT WAS COLD OVERNIGHT AND THE WINDOWS HAD FROSTED OVER. AS I WAS DRIVING, I HEARD A LOUD POP AND SAW THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD BEEN SHATTERED IN A SPIDER WEB PATTERN. I GOT HOME AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO INSPECT THE WINDSHIELD. I OBSERVED THE "SPIDER WEB" EFFECT STARTING IN THE LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER OF THE GLASS. THERE WAS A FLUID SEEPING OUT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE GLASS AT THE POINT OF ORIGIN. THE GLASS ALSO HAS A DISCOLORATION AS IF IT HAD BEEN HEATED. I WAS ABLE TO SEARCH ONLINE AND FIND NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO FOUND SEVERAL ACCOUNTS WHERE THE POP HAD CAUSED A FIRE AND MELTED PORTIONS OF THE WINDOW AND ITS FRAMING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,847.
SINCE PURCHASE IN 2010, THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUALLY SEARCHES FOR THE RIGHT GEAR, NEVER SEEMS TO FIND IT, AND WILL "BANG" INTO WHATEVER GEAR IT CHOOSES. GALPIN AND SIMI VALLEY FORD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RE-CREATE CONDITION AND SIMPLY SAY IT IS DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO, SIMI VALLEY FORD STATED THE "SPLINE SHAFT" WAS NEVER LUBRICATED AND CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM BY LUBRICATING THE AREA. THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED, PAST THE BASIC 3/36 WARRANTY, AND NOW HAVE BEEN TOLD THE ISSUE IS NOT A "POWERTRAIN" ISSUE AND THEREFORE NOT UNDER THE 5/60 POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THEY OFFERED TO INSTALL A FORD RECOMMENDED CLAMP AND MORE LUBRICATION FOR A NOMINAL CHARGE. OTHER THAN THE POWERTRAIN ISSUE, THE VEHICLE HAS "STALLED" SEVERAL OCCASIONS. USUALLY THIS OCCURS WHILE COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE IS THEN RESTARTED AND GOOD FOR AWHILE. GALPIN FORD HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPRODUCE, THEREFORE, NO PROBLEM. *TR
LAST WEEK I STARTED MY MORNING COMMUTE @ 5AM. 5 MINUTES AFTER DEPARTURE - I HEARD THE EQUIVALENT OF A 22 CALIBER GUN BEING FIRED IN THE CAB OF MY 2010 FORD F150 PLATINUM. ALARMED BY THE SOUND I SWERVED INTO THE ADJACENT LANE, THANKFULLY THERE WERE NOT MANY OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND BEGAN A VISUAL INSPECTION, IMMEDIATELY, I SAW MY PASSENGER REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AND SMOLDERING IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY DID NOT EVEN TRY TO FIND PROBLEM SINCE IT WAS A WATER LEAKING PROBLEM IT WAS NOT COVERED EITHER BY THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY OR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I HAD PURCHASED. APPARENTLY IT IS A LEAK IN THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE ROOF. I WENT OUT TOO WARM UP MY TRUCK THE OTHER MORNING BEFORE WORK. I STARTED THE VEHICLE, TURNED ON HEAT AND THE FRONT AND REAR DEFROSTER. CAME BACK OUTSIDE TO LEAVE ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER, AS I STARTED TO PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I HEARD A LOUD POP. I GOT OUT OF MY TRUCK TO INSPECT MY TIRES, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS THE PROBLEM AT FIRST. THEY WERE FINE. I WAS NOT SURE WHAT THE NOISE WAS, SO I GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE. AS I PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AGAIN I LOOKED ON MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED MY BACK GLASS WAS SHATTERED. I HAD MY REAR DEFROSTER ON, WHICH FOR SOME REASON SHATTERED MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO ISSUE AND FORD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GLASS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER IN THIS VEHICLE. WHILE DECELERATING 2010 FORD F150 STALLED (4.6L V-8). VEHICLE RESTARTED IN NEUTRAL, THEN STALLED EACH TIME VEHICLE WAS PUT IN GEAR. INCREASED RPMS IN NEUTRAL AND PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND DROVE TO SAFE AREA, VEHICLE STALLED. CLEANED MASS AIR FLOW AND MADE IT HOME. ON OR AROUND DEC 2012 I NOTICED A WATER STAIN IN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE OF THE HEAD LINER. I ASSUMED I MAY HAVE ACCIDENTALLY LEFT THE WINDOW PARTIALLY DOWN CAUSING A WATER STAIN IN THE WINTER MONTHS. I RECENTLY LOST MY JOB SO I'M NOT DRIVING MY TRUCK VERY OFTEN ON APRIL 26TH 2013 AFTER MANY DAYS OF RAIN I NOTICED A LARGE WATER STAIN ALL ALONG THE REAR WINDOW OF THE TRUCK,STAINING UP THE TAN HEAD LINER PRETTY BAD. MY WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED BY 2000 MILES SO I HAD MY HUSBAND TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. AS WE TOOK DOWN THE LINER WE NOTICED SLIGHTLY RUSTED SPOTS ALL ALONG THE TRIM AND WATER DRIPPING FROM THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT THAT'S OUTSIDE THE TRUCK NEAR THE TOP OF THE CABIN. MY HUSBAND BELIEVES THAT THE SEAL SURROUNDING THE BRAKE LIGHT HAS A DEFECT. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED ATCHINSON FORD DEALER IN BELLEVILLE MI AND SPOKE TO SERVICE MANAGER HE NEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT I WAS REFERRING TOO SEEMS AS THOUGH THEY MAKE REPAIRS TO THESE NEW AND USED F-150 FREQUENTLY. I ASKED THE MANAGER IF THEIR WAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKE LIGHT AND HE LAUGHED AND SAID "NO,BUT FORDS S DEFINITELY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM.I'M CONCERNED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL BECOME COMPROMISED WITH THE WIRES AS WELL AS MOLDY SMELL THIS HAS CAUSED.I CONTACTED FORDS AND HAVE A CASE NUMBER OPENED UP CONCERNING THIS MATTER,IT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THIS BRAKE LIGHT AND OR GASKET SURROUNDING THE WINDOW.IT WILL BE VERY COSTLY TO ME .CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER?A $36 THOUSAND DOLLAR TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE HAVING FAULTY GASKETS/SEALS. I STOPPED IN PAULS VALLEY OKLA FOR A COKE, WHILE IDLING, THE OUTSIDE TEMP GAUGE CLIMBED FROM 29 ACTUAL DEGREES TO 86DEGREES IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES BUT WHEN I BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN THE OUTSIDE TEMP WENT BACK DOWN TO 29DEGREES. ON 2 OCCASIONS WHILE ON I-35 THE GAUGES WOULD BEEP, RESET AND GO BACK OFF. I DROVE FROM ATOKA OKLA TO THE TEXAS PANHANDLE WITH NO WAY OF TELLING MY SPEED, FUEL GAUGE, NO TEMP GAUGE NO BLINKERS TO SIGNAL LANE CHANGES, I EVEN TRIED THE EMERG. WHILE BREAKING TO MAKE RIGHT HAND TURN ENGINE STALLED. FIRST INDICATION WAS TRUCK WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. I WAS ABLE TO STOP TRUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. AT A HIGHER SPEED THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. FORD DEALER CLAIMED TO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH AN INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THOUSANDS OF SUCH INCIDENTS, MANY OF THEM REPORTED TO THIS AGENCY. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND A CAUSE, ALTHOUGH THE MANAGER SAID IT WAS LIKELY THE THROTTLE BODY BUT HE COULD NOT REPLACE A PART UNDER WARRANTY UNLESS IT WAS POSITIVELY KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE.
