STEERING WOULD BIND WHEN TURNING LEFT AND WOULD GET STUCK IN THAT POSITION AND HAVE TO FORCEFULLY MOVED BACK TO CENTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, WHICH CAUSED AN ABRUPT REDUCTION IN SPEED. ALSO, THE GEAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY REMAIN IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT PROPERLY CHANGE OVER. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED. MONTHS LATER, AFTER THE FAILURE HAD BEEN EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENTLY, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V075000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. RED MCCOMBS FORD (8333, I-10, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78230, (210) 996-2678) WAS NOTIFIED AND A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE SHIFTING FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION BECAME STUCK IN FIFTH GEAR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE WRENCH INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE, THE REVERSE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE AND THE BACK-UP CAMERA WOULD NOT DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (SANDERS FORD, 1135 LEJEUNE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, NC) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR AND TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V190000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.
STEERING STARTED STICKING WHEN TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND WHILE DRIVING YOU COULD FEEL IT COME AND GO! TOOK IT TO REPAIR SHOP AND HAD A WHOLE NEW ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM INSTALLED COST A LITTLE OVER 1700$
EXCLUDED FROM RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION LEADFRAME. THIS VEHICLE DANGEROUSLY SHIFTS ABRUPTLY TO A LOWER GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
10 MILES FROM MY DESTINATION,PS WENT OUT. IT WAS VERY HARD TO STEER. I WAS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY (US 290) FROM CHANNELVIEW ,TX TO WALLER,TX AND BACK I HAVE A 2011 FORD F-150 XL 5.0 L / 8 CYL / FLEX FUEL 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC (ELECTRONIC) FUEL INJECTION AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES PARKED AND TURNED OFF,IT WORKED FINE. I DECIDED TO GO HOME,60 MILES. 30 MILES IT WORKED FINE THEN WENT OUT AGAIN.
WET ROADS DOING 45 TO 50 MPH AND IN A FLASH TRUCK DECIDED TO GO ABOUT 5 MPH TRUCK WENT SIDEWAYS INTO THE ON COMING TRAFFIC LANES THEN THE TRUCK WENT ONLY 5 MPH AND I HAD A COMPUTER CHECK ON IT AND SAID THE 6R80 TRANSMISSION IS BAD AND FORD HAS A RECALL ON THIS TRANSMISSION 2011/2012 BUT NOT MY TRUCK IT WAS BUILT IN NOV 10 2010 BUT IT THE SAME PROBLEM EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING AND IT DANGEROUS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED ENTIRE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT. UPDATED 11/19/18*JB
WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK WILL SHUT DOWN NO POWER, THIS HAPPENS MAINLY WHILE ITS RAINING AT FIRST NOW ITS STARTING TO DO THIS MORE OFTEN. THE BCM IS LOCATED IN AN AREA THAT WHEN IT RAINS THE WATER HAS SHORTED THE BCM AND NOW I AM HAVING THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND OR NOT START. I HAVE BEEN TO FORD SEVERAL TIMES AND THEYRE STATING THERE IS NO RECALL DUE TO THIS. I HAVE HEARD THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM OTHER F150 OWNER WHOSE BCM IS IN THE SANE EXACT SPOT AS MINE. FORD IS NOT WILLING TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM BUT CHARGE SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPLACE PARTS AND DIAGNOSTING TEST TO ONLY NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUES.
LEAK DEVELOPED BEHIND THE A/C COMPRESSOR THROUGH THE FIREWALL CAUSING A BUILDUP OF WATER UNDER THE FLOORBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DESTROYING THE RUGS. LEAK HAD TO BE FIXED AND RUGS ALL REPLACED DUE TO MOLD ANDREW MILDEW. HAPPENED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME WHEN THE A/C WAS RUNNING.

DRIVING 80 MPH ON TOLL ROAD SERVICE LIGHT COME ON FOR A SECOND AND WENT OFF DROPPED INTO 5TH GEAR TRUCK SPEEDOMETER READ 0 MPH PULLED OVER TURNED OFF TRUCK STARTED BACK UP RAN FINE UNTIL I GOT HOME
TRANS 6R80 WAS RECALLED BUT NOT FOR MY TK DUE TO THE FACT IT WAS MADE IN DIFFERENT FORD LOCATION BEING DEARBORN MI. THE TRUCK WON'T GO IN REVERSE, WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON,WHEN IT FINALLY DOES ITS STUCK IN GEAR. HAVE TO TURN TRUCK OFF TO RESTART AND THEN IT WILL GO IN GEAR. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. CAUSE WERE IN CODES.. P0705, P0731, P1702, P1921, PINPOINT TEST C P0705.NEC TO REPLACE LEAD FRAME IN TRANSMISSION.IT SHOULD NOT MATTER WHAT TRANS SHOP IT WAS MADE AT IF IT'S DOING SAME THING AND POSES A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM IN A SLOW CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND NEEDED TO BACK UP. THIS TK SHOULD OF BEEN IN RECALL. SAME SR80 TRANS AS ONES RECALLED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TODD JUDY FORD EAST (7891 MACCORKLE AVE, CHARLESTON, WV 25315, (304) 925-0431) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 203,869.
MY STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER SUDDENLY AND STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS PULLED TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT.LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO MY HOUSE AND WAS NOT IN TRAFFIC WHERE SOMEONE COULD HAVE REALLY BEEN HURT.
CAR WOULD BE DRIVING NORMAL, AND SPEEDOMETER WOULD DROP OFF, DROPPING TO 0 MPH. UPON WHICH TIME, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD TRY AND COMPENSATE, AND DOWNSHIFT HARD TO MATCH THE SPEED. SPEEDOMETER WOULD THEN GO BACK UP TO NORMAL SPEED AND TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT BACK. MATCHES IDENTICAL ISSUES WITH 16N02, BUT MY VIN (DESPITE BEING THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND MANUFACTURED DURING THE SAME TIME FRAME AND AT THE SAME PLANT AS THE OTHERS) DID NOT SHOW THIS AS A RECALL.
LEAVING DRIVEWAY, STARTED TO ACCELERATE UP SLIGHT INCLINE ON SUBDIVISION STREET AND TRUCK UNEXPECTEDLY JUMPED FROM 1ST GEAR TO 5TH AND THEN SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR CAUSING VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD AS SPEED RAPIDLY DECREASED TO NEAR IDLE SPEED. SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN VEHICLE SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2ND, BECAUSE IF THE TRUCK IS PUT BACK INTO PARK IT WILL START TO DRIVE IN FIRST AND WHEN IT SHIFTS TO 2ND IT IMMEDIATELY JUMPS TO 5TH AND REPEATS THE ABOVE.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO LOW GEAR CAUSING BACK TIRES TO LOCK UP AND IT WAS RAINING WHICH RESULTED IN A LITTLE SPIN OUT

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 15747379. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS TURNING MY 2011 F150 AROUND IN A LOT WHEN A STEERING ERROR WARNING POPED UP ON DASH ALONG WITH A STABILITY CONTROL ERROR. STEERING FROZE AND I DID NOT HAVE STEERING CONTROL. TOOK ALL EFFORT TO FORCE VEHICLE TO TURN AND AVOID A COLLISION STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN WITH A LOUD BUZZING NOISE AND LIMITED TURNING RANGE (ABOUT 2/3 OF NORMAL RANGE LEFT AND RIGHT. DROVE HOME THIS WAY (ABOUT 15 MILES). WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VEHICLE AND VERY NERVE RACKING. BEING A MECHANIC I SCANNED CODES AND IT APPEARS THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR FAILED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SYSTEM I SHUDDER WHEN I THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES HAD I BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IF THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE THERE SHOULD BE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I INCLUDED THE SCANNED CODES BELOW.
AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT, AND TURNING ON THE TRUCK THE VACUUM PUMP IS EXTREMELY LOUD. IF DRIVING THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY THE BRAKES WILL NOT WORK UNLESS PUSHED VERY HARD. AFTER ABOUT 3 MINUTES THE SOUND DIMINISHES AND THE BRAKES WORK ADEQUATELY.

THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE AT A STOP, DURING ACCELERATION, AND WHILE MAKING A TURN, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HAVE TO DOWNSHIFT. CUSTOMER SERVICE CAMPAIGN PROGRAM NUMBER: 15N05 (ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP RECALL) WAS REFERENCED AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR AND TRANSMISSION FLUID WERE ADDED, INCLUDING A NEW FILTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000. *DT*JB
FOR THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS, I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH MY TRUCK DOWNSHIFTING ON ITS OWN. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS GOING 60 MPH AND IT SEEMINGLY WENT FROM 6TH GEAR DOWN TO 1ST OR 2ND MAKING THE TRUCK FEEL LIKE IT HAD HIT SOMETHING AND LOST POWER. IT DIDNT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR A MONTH AND A HALF AND NOW HAPPENS MORE AND MORE OFTEN. DIAGNOSTICS SHOW IT MAY BE A OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR ISSUE. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAID THERE WAS INDEED A RECALL BUT MINE WAS FROM THE WRONG FACTORY AND WAS NOT INCLUDED. SAME ISSUE AS EVERYONE ELSE, BUT MY FACTORY DIDN'T GET INCLUDED? CONVENIENT FOR FORD, IT SEEMS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND NO ONE REALLY WANTS TO TAKE IT ON, IT SEEMS... GO SEE A TRANSMISSION SHOP ONE GUY SAYS... FRUSTRATING AND RATHER SCARY WHEN IT HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I AM WONDERING IF MORE TRUCKS SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TSB 13-6-8. ?
WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED MY TIRES WEARING ON THE OUTSIDES AFTER GETTING AN ALIGNMENT DONE IT STILL CONTINUES. AFTER TAKING IT TO A SHOP AND THEM NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM, THE NOTED THAT THE RACK AND PINION BOLT WAS WORN OUT AND THEY CAN'T REPLACE IT WITHOUT REPLACING THE WHOLE STEERING ASSEMBLY
THE TRUCK LOOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AS A SLOW RATE OF SPEED 20-35 MPH. THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN AND THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH. THE TRANSMISSION RECEIVES NO POWER AND THE TRUCK WILL ONLY COAST FORWARD . IMMEDIATE SOLUTION IS TO PULL OVER, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART. THE TRUCK THEN HAS POWER. THE PROBLEM MAY REPEAT ITSELF WITHIN MILES OR IT MAY NOT REPEAT FOR DAYS/WEEKS. THIS HAPPEN 18 MONTHS AGO, 4 MONTHS AGO, AND 2 DAYS AGO.
HI, WHILE GOING OUT TO DINNER ON FRIDAY EVENING 8/31/18. MY 2011 FORD F-150 WAS RUNNING FINE... STOPPED FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT... LIGHT TURN GREEN AS WE WERE GOING AROUND 35... 40 MILES PER HOUR ON A STRAIGHT PART OF CT10 ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK WENT FROM RUNNING FINE TO IT GOING INTO A SKID WHILE STILL ACCELERATING... IT WAS CRAZY!!!! GOOD THING I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT I FELT THAT IT WOULD HAVE SENT ME THRU THE WINDSHIELD!!! I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WONDERING WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPEN!?!? SINCE I WAS WITHIN A MILE FROM HOME I DECIDED TO TRY AND MAKE IT HOME... AS I STARTED ON MY WAY THE TRUCK DIDN'T WANT TO COME OUT OF FIRST GEAR SO I PULLED OVER AGAIN THINKING OF CALLING TRIPLE AAA TO GET TOWED ... AFTER SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR MINUTES WITH THE TRUCK TURN OFF I DECIDED TO TRY IT AGAIN SINCE I WAS SO CLOSE TO HOME... WELL I WAS SUCCESSFUL ON MAKING IT HOME SAFELY!!! TODAY IS MONDAY 9/3/18 LABOR DAY WITHOUT HAVING A TRUCK TO DEPEND ON... TOMORROW I WILL BE BRINGING IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT.... I NEED HELP TO GET THIS TRUCK BACK TO RUNNING ORDER...
VEHICLE CHOOSES WHEN TO PICK UP SPEED VEHICHLE JERKS (TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS) ODOMETER STOPS READING VEHICHLE JERKS COMES TO AN IMMEDIATE DOWN SHIFT (STOP) VEHICHLE DOES THIS IN MOTION AND IT CAN BE AT ANY RATE OF SPEED
THE SPEAKER WENT OUT IN MY BACK LEFT DOOR, SO I TOOK THE DOOR APART TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. I TESTED THE SPEAKER AND IT WORKED FINE, SO I STARTED WORKING MY WAY BACK THROUGH THE WIRING HARNESS. WHEN I TOUCHED THE HARNESS WHERE IT GOES FROM THE DOOR TO THE BODY (IN THE DOOR JAM) THE SPEAKER STARTED WORKING. I REMOVED THE HARNESS FROM THE DOOR AND PULLED BACK THE RUBBER BOOT IN THE DOOR JAM. EVERYTHING WAS STILL WRAPPED IN FACTORY HARNESS WRAP, AND WHEN I EXPOSED THE WIRES, THE SPEAKER WIRES WERE SEVERED AND MOST OF THE WIRES IN THE BUNDLE HAD CRACKED INSULATION. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF BEING PINCHED OR DAMAGED EXTERNALLY, AND I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THIS WAS JUST FROM THE BENDING MOTION EVERY TIME THE DOOR WAS OPENED AND CLOSED. I BUILD CUSTOM AUTOMATED MACHINES FOR A LIVING AND WE ALWAYS USE FLEX RATED CABLE FOR APPLICATIONS LIKE THIS. SO THIS LOOKS LIKE THEY USED CHEAP WIRE WITH INSULATION THAT IS NOT RATED FOR THE NUMBER OF BEND CYCLES A DOOR GOES THROUGH. LUCKILY THE POWER WIRES FOR THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND DOOR SWITCH HAD NOT SHORTED OUT DESPITE THE COPPER BEING EXPOSED. I AM VERY CONCERNED THE REST OF MY DOORS ARE SUFFERING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS COULD LEAD TO NOT BEING ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR, NOT BEING ABLE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW IN AN EMERGENCY, OR EVEN A FIRE IF THE POWER WIRES SHORTED OUT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES. ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVEN TIMES LAST WEEK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EMPIRE FORD OF NEW BEDFORD (395 MT PLEASANT STREET, NEW BEDFORD, MA 02746) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND FORCED THE VEHICLE TO DOWNSHIFT TO FIRST GEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
FROM A COLD START, THE SERVICE BRAKES DID NOT WORK UPON INITIAL APPLICATION. WITH EXTREME PEDAL PRESSURE, TRUCK EVENTUALLY STOPPED ROLLING NARROWLY AVOIDING IMPACT. INCIDENT OCCURRED IN OUR DRIVEWAY.

STEERING IS 'STICKY' ON LEFT HAND TURNS. FORD ATTEMPTED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITHOUT REPLACING PARTS WHICH HELPED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED AND IS WORSE THAN BEFORE. STEERING CAN BE AN PROBLEM EITHER AT SPEEDS OR WHEN STATIONARY. I HAVE DIFFICULTY STAYING IN A LANE WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT JERKS BACK FROM THE LEFT. ALSO NOTICE SOMETIMES WHEN PARKED. THE STEERING CAN TAKE SIGNIFICANT EFFORT TO REVERSE A TURN. THERE WAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ISSUED BY FORD FOR THIS PROBLEM. SEE TSB 11-8-18
ON SATURDAY 08/18/18 THE POWER STEERING UNIT ON MY MY FORD F-150 (2011MODEL, 67956 MILES) FAILED, FORTUNATELY, RIGHT WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY. NOTHING CHANGED WHEN I RESTARTED THE TRUCK A FEW TIMES, SO I SHUT IT DOWN WITHOUT ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE IT AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE UNIT WAS REPLACED FOR $2171.00. I DISCUSSED THE EVENT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER EXPRESSING MY SURPRISE THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON FAILURES OF SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART THAT IMPACTED VEHICLE AND PUBLIC SAFETY, OR A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. HE SYMPATHIZED AND TOLD ME TO REPORT THE INCIDENT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUPPLIED ME WITH THEIR TELEPHONE NUMBER. THE C S REP TOOK MY INFORMATION, GAVE ME A CASE # AND SAID I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY A REGIONAL CS REP. THAT PERSON CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND POLITELY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THAT TYPE OF INCIDENT AND THAT FORD WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR ANY OF THE CHARGES FOR THE REPAIR. AS I TOLD THE CS REP TODAY WHEN I TALK ABOUT MY TRUCK TO PEOPLE THIS ISSUE WILL TAKE PRECEDENCE RATHER THAN THE ENJOYMENT I HAVE HAD WITH IT SO FAR. ACCORDING TO INFO ON THE NHTSA SITE THIS IS NOT AN UNHEARD OF FAILURE. IN FACT THERE ARE RECALLS AND REPLACEMENTS FOR STEERING MECHANISMS ON OTHER FORD MODELS FROM THE SAME YEAR. IT APPEARS THAT FORD IS STONEWALLING ON THIS ISSUE AND SCREWING THEIR CUSTOMERS. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET THIS MECHANICAL DEFECT COVERED BY A RECALL? MAYBE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED?
STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING 40 PLUS MILES AN HOUR ON A WINDING ROAD ALMOST CRASHED. HAD TROUBLE GETTING IT OFF THE TOW TRUCK. TOWED IT HOME AND MESSED WITH THE FUSE BOX STILL LOCKED. GOT INTO THE TRUCK AND MANUALLY RESET THE STEERING. STARTED TRUCK AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. AT FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS THE RACK AND PINION, BUT I I WOULD NOT HAVE JUST RESET AND DROVE AS NOTHING WAS WRONG. I THINK THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ELECTRIC MOTOR ON THE ACTUAL RACK. VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY EXPENSIVE PART. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A LAWSUIT FOR FORD IF MY HUSBAND WOULD HAVE DRIVEN OFF A CLIFF AS WE LIVE IN A VERY MOUNTAINOUS AREA. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMPONENT ISSUE AND NOT A RACK ISSUE. THE MOTOR IS NOT SERVICEABLE SO I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED TO SEE THE INSIDE OF THE MOTOR BUT IT HAS BEEN SPOT WELDED. THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AND NOT ONLY WITH THE ESCAPES, AND OTHER FORD VEHICLES WITH THE SIMILAR PARTS FOR STEERING. LOOKING AT THE FORUMS THIS IS A VERY COMMON THING WITH THIS TRUCK THAT IS BEING OVERLOOKED. AND I BELIEVE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR. FORD WOULD LOSE A LOT OF MONEY. 1600 FOR THE MOTOR ALONE.
THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING FAILED IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET TUNRING
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING QUIT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING A NEAR WRECK ON CITY STREET.
AFTER THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON WHILE CAR IS IN PARK AND IDLING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, THE STEERING POWER ASSIST IS LOST, ESPECIALLY ON LEFT HAND TURNS. SO IF I TURN LEFT, THE STEERING WHEEL MUST BE MANUALLY TURNED BACK TO STRAIGHT OR THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO TURN LEFT. AFTER THE TURN, IF MY HANDS WERE NOT ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND MANUALLY STEERING THE CAR BACK TO STRAIGHT, THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TURNING INTO OPPOSING TRAFFIC. ON A WINDY ROAD, THE TRUCK WILL CONTINUE TO GO IN THE DIRECTION OF THE TURN AND NOT RETURN TO THE STRAIGHT AHEAD TRACK WITHOUT MANUALLY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. IT IS A VERY SCARY SCARY SITUATION. THE NEXT DAY MORNING AFTER COOLING OFF ALL IS GOOD. THIS HAPPENS BOTH ON THE HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS ONCE IT OVERHEATS SOME COMPONENT.
HAD COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK STOPPED. SAW IT WAS 2 PINTS LOW ON FLUID. ADDED FLUID, DROVE TOWARDS MY AUTO SHOP, HAD TO STOP TO FILL THE BRAKE FLUID AGAIN (THE LIGHT WENT ON THIS TIME). DID THIS A FEW TIMES. JUST BEFORE I GOT TO THE STOP, THE TRUCK BLEW OUT SOME SMOKE, CHUGGED, AND THE MOTOR SEIZED UP. TOWED THE TRUCK TO THE SHOP, THEY FOUND OUT THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKED AND THE VACUUM LINES SUCKED THE BRAKE FLUID OUT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER AND DUMPED IT INTO THE CYLINDERS IN THE MOTOR AND THIS BLEW MY MOTOR. I HEAR THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ON 2014 F-150S BUT NOT ON THE 2011. TERRIBLE DESIGN. A BRAKE PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BLOW UP MY MOTOR.
I RECENTLY LOOKED UP ANY RECALLS INVOLVED WITH MY VEHICLE. THE FIRST THAT CAME UP WAS THE TRANSMISSION RECALL FOR F150 OF MY YEAR. TO BE HONEST I ONLY LOOKED IT UP BECAUSE MY TRUCK SHIFTED FROM 4TH TO 1ST WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35MPH. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS LEAVING A GOLF COURSE AND THE TRUCK WAS SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 3RD AND BACK TO 1ST AGAIN. ALSO THE SPEEDOMETER WAS GOING CRAZY ON BOTH OCCURRENCES, JUMPING 20MPH AT SOME POINTS WHILE I KNOW I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 15MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BOTH TIMES AT LOW CITY STREET SPEEDS.
VACUUM PUMP AND BRAKE BOOSTER HAS FAILED ON MY F150. FORD STATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER "15N05" EXTENDED COVERAGE/RECALL. VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AT THE EFFECTED PLANTS DURING THE TIME LISTED IN THE BULLETIN. FORD IS CHARGING ME OVER $1300 TO FIX MY VEHICLE, DESPITE THIS BEING A KNOWN SAFETY PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 F150 I GOT OF I99 AT THE TYRONE EXIT. WHILE SLOWING TO A STOP AT ABOUT 35 MPH THE TRUCK SHIFTED FROM 5THGEAR TO 1ST WHICH CAUSE THE WHEELS TO SQUAWK AND SLIDE ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL, I PULLED OVER IN THE BK PARKING LOT SHUT IT OFF AN RESTARTED ONCE I PUT IT IN GEAR TO DRIVE IT SHOWED I WAS IN 5TH GEAR SO I SHUT IT OFF AGAIN WAITED A FEW MINUTES S TD STARTED IT AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WAS IN 3RD SO I REPEATED. THE NEXT TIME IT WAS IN FIRST SO I DROVE HOME THE BACK ROADS TO BE SAFE AS I GOT UP TO SPEED IT STARTED TO ACT UP AGAIN THE SPEEDOMETER SHOW I WAS GOING 0MPH BUT I WAS GOING 25MPH AGAIN THE TRUCK SLAMMED IN AN OUT OF GEAR I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEAL THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A LEAD FRAME HOPE THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM AS I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK. I DO HAVE VIDEOS OF WHEN ITS ACTING UP BUT I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO UPLOAD THEM.

COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SAFETY ISSUE AS I COULD NOT STOP MY TRUCK UNTIL I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK NEARLY HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WILL NOT STOP THE VEHICLE ON COLD START AS THE RPM'S RUN SLIGHTLY HIGHER AT IDLE. TOOK 2011 F150 TO DEALER FOR SERVICING OF THE BRAKES AND DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE ISSUE AND STATED VACUUM ASSIST PUMP IS NOT WORKING AND WILL BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. BRAKE VACUUM PUMP WAS CHANGED, DEALER TESTED AND CALLED ME AND SAID TRUCK WAS REPAIRED. I PICK THE TRUCK UP FROM THE DEALER AND BACK UP, AGAIN NO BRAKES, BRAKE PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR AS I AM STILL MOVING IN REVERSE I PUT SHIFTER INTO NEUTRAL AND COME TO A STOP. I THEN SHIFT INTO DRIVE TO PARK THE TRUCK AND AGAIN NO BRAKES AND DRIVE OVER THE CURB PROTECTING FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUILDING BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. DEALER PERFORMS MAINTENANCE AND FINDS THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS AN INTERNAL ISSUE CAUSING BLEED OFF LOSS IN PRESSURE. I ASK IF THIS IS A RECALL ITEM AND THE DEALER STATES THAT IT IS NOT. WAITING FOR REPAIR TO BE COMPLETED AND WILL COST $500 FOR PARTS AND LABOR AND WAS STATED THAT THIS WAS A HIGHLY DISCOUNTED RATE.

SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON AND I EXPERIENCED TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING AS I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AT AN INTERSECTION. IT TOOK ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT WHILE TRYING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD INTO A SAFE LOCATION.
WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION, STARTED TO LOSE ACCELERATION AND JERK, LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING UPHILL ON MAJOR ROAD IN TRAFFIC AND INDICATOR PANEL DISPLAYED WRENCH. PER OWNERS MANUAL APPEARS TO BE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND TRUCK IS IN 'LIMP HOME' MODE, WILL NEED TOW. TRUCK IS 2011 FORD F150, LARIAT WITH V6 ECOBOOST TURBO. MILEAGE IS ONLY 64K, TRUCK IS LIGHTLY USED, HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN HARD, OTHERWISE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
