I WAS STOPPED ON A SINGLE LANE STREET AT A STOP SIGN, WAITING TO ENTER A TWO LANE ROAD WITH SHOULDERS. I WAS GOING TO TURN LEFT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. ALL TRAFFIC FROM THE LEFT HAD PASSED. THERE WAS STILL ONE VEHICLE COMING FROM THE RIGHT, BUT IT WAS STILL FAR ENOUGH AWAY THAT I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO PULL OUT AND ACCELERATE. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND I BEGAN TO GIVE THE TRUCK GAS TO PULL OUT. I ONLY TRAVELED SEVERAL FEET WHEN THE TRUCK DIED. IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING, AS IF I HAD SHUT THE KEY OFF WHILE MOVING. NO SOUNDS OF ANY KIND OR ANY WARNING. IT JUST DIED. I WAS FACING ACROSS THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIRST LANE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE OTHER SIDE. I THINK THE ROAD WAS SLIGHTLY SLOPPED BECAUSE I HAD JUST ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET ACROSS AS I WAS FIGHTING TO TURN THE TRUCK ONTO THE SHOULDER. IF I WASN'T ABLE TO TURN THE TRUCK I WOULD OF ENDED UP IN A SMALL GULLY ON THE OTHER SIDE. LUCKILY THE DRIVER OF THE APPROACHING CAR FROM MY RIGHT WAS ALERT, AND HAD ENOUGH TIME TO GO BEHIND ME. THIS COULD OF ENDED BADLY. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY DEALER. THEY STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH A FUSE (#27) FOR THE PUMP RELAY, AND THAT THERE WAS A TSB.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. UPON MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF STEERING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (WESTLAND FORD, 3450 WALL AVE, OGDEN, UT 84401, (801) 629-5500) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
CODE P0016, TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER AND TIMING CHAIN LOOSENESS ON ECOBOOST FORD F-150. 2011 W LOW MILES AT 59,000. COMMON PROBLEM SHOULD BE A RECALL.
JAN. 27, 2017 WE WERE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT GOT TO AROUND 40 MPH AND THE VEHICLE DOWN SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR MAKING A LOT OF NOISE AND STARTED BUCKING. WE COULD HARDLY GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS IT WOULD HARDLY MOVE. WE HAD NOT HAD ANY ISSUES BEFORE THIS. IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. IN REGARD TO RECALL 16S19 AND 16N02, THE VEHICLE DID EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL STATED IN REGARD TO THE DOWNSHIFTING HOWEVER AS PER THE MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED, THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE BEEN THE REASON THE PLANETARY GEARS WENT OUT AS WELL AND WE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT CONSIDERABLE COST. FORD SERVICE INDICATED IT WOULD TAKE AT LEAST A WEEK TO TWO WEEKS FOR REPAIR AS THERE WERE OTHER TRANSMISSION JOBS IN FRONT OF OURS AT BOTH DEALERSHIPS. WE MADE THE DECISION TO HAVE IT TOWED TO ANOTHER TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AS WE COULD NOT BE WITHOUT OUR VEHICLE FOR UP TO TWO WEEKS. FORD IS NOW REFUSING TO HELP PAY FOR REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT SINCE REPAIRS WERE NOT DONE AT A FORD CERTIFIED REPAIR SHOP. WE EVEN KEPT THE TRANSMISSION FOR FORD TO TAKE A LOOK AT IN REGARD TO THIS RECALL...THEY WEREN'T INTERESTED. THIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY 104,000 MILES, THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPSA) IS LEAKING WATER AND POWER STEERING FLUID. IT'S MAKING NOISES AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT SINCE THIS IS MY MAIN TRANSPORTATION FOR WORK AND FAMILY. I'VE READ ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND PEOPLE SAYING THEIR WHEELS HAVE LOCKED UP AND JUST MISSED FATAL ACCIDENTS ESPECIALLY DOING HIGHER SPEEDS ON HIGHWAY TRAVEL. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A DEATH BEFORE THIS PART IS RECALLED? TRUCK COMES TO A QUICK STOP LIKE ITS JUMPING GEARS.
ON 12 JANUARY 2017 WHEN RETURNING FROM A NORMAL OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AT A DEALERSHIP THE OPERATOR HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE MARBLES IN A COFFEE CAN COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ERRATIC SHIFTS AND LOSS OF POWER. THESE CONDITIONS WERE REPORTED TO AND NOTED BY THE DEALERSHIP'S RECEPTIONIST TO BE FOLLOWED UP ON THE NEXT MORNING. ON 13 JANUARY 2017 ON THE COMMUTE TO WORK WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPLIGHT ON A CITY THOROUGHFARE THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED ABRUPTLY FROM A HIGH GEAR AND SHUDDERED TO A HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY. THE INCIDENT WAS SO DRAMATIC THAT THE OPERATOR HAD ASSUMED THE DRIVESHAFT HAD BEEN LOST. THE OPERATOR LIMPED THE VEHICLE INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT WHERE THE DASHBOARD SHOWED VARIOUS WARNINGS (SEE EXHIBIT 1) AND A TOWING COMPANY WAS CALLED TO TRANSPORT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 89,000 MILES AND THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY AND 42 F ON 13 JANUARY 2017. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS AN INTERNAL FAILURE BY USING CODES P0763, P0764, AND P0979, ALONG WITH REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION PAN WHICH SHOWED FINE METALLIC SHAVINGS (SEE EXHIBIT 2); THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE WAS FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE RESULTED IN ANY INJURIES OR ADDITIONAL DAMAGES WHICH COULD HAVE EASILY OCCURRED.

I DRIVE A 2011 PLATINUM WITH THE 3.5 L ECO JUNK WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRUCK LOOSES ALL POWER AND SHAKES AND DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT UP WHEN ACCELERATING HARD IT WILL STICK IN 3RD OR 4TH GEAR AT 70 MPH AND WHEN IT FINALLY SHIFTS IT TAKES OFF FAST AND HARD THESE TRUCKS WITH THE ECOBOOST ARE JUNK AND THEY SHOULD JUST RECALL THE WHOLE TRUCK CONSIDERING FORD CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THERE PROBLEMS
3.5 ECO BOOST BOGGED DOWN WHEN I WAS PASSING....ON 1-2-20017..ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT..SAME SYMPTOMS AS MANNY ECO BOOST F150 FORD....VERY DANGEROUS !!!!
INTERMEDIATE LOSS OF ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AND IN CITY WHILE TURNING . VEHICLE COULD BE UNSAFE IN A EMERGENCY SITUATION
WHEN USING THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL IT WILL NOT WORK ONLY IN THE BACK TAIL LIGHT. SO WHEN I USE MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL IT SOUNDS INSIDE MY TRUCK A LITTLE BIT FASTER THAN THE RIGHT SIDE SO IT KNOWS THE BLINKER IS OUT ALTHOUGH THE BLINKER ON MY LEFT SIDE MIRROR STILL WORKS AND THE FRONT LEFT BLINKER STILL WORKS I HAVE TRYED NUMBEROUS TIMES TO CHANGE THE TAIL LIGHT AND HAVE OTHERS LOOK AT IT AND CHANGE THE TAIL LIGHT WITH BRAND NEW BULBS BUT NOTHINGS WORKS.
WHEN DRIVING UNDER SLOWER SPEEDS AND TURNING. AFTER MAKING THE TURN. MY STEERING GETS TIGHT AND I HAVE TO MANUALLY FORCE MY STEERING TO GO BACK STRAIGHT. IT SEAMS AFTER SOME DRIVING IT MAY LOOSEN UP. BUT IT DOSE DO IT LATER ON OTHER TURNS. SOME TIMES IT IS HARD TO TURN INTO A CORNER. I HAVE TO MANUALLY FORCE THE WHEEL TO MAKE THE TURN. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION.
ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM FAILURE WHEN TURNING LEFT. THE ISSUE BEGAN WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BUT WAS VERY INTERMITTANT. OVER TIME IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. FORD RECALLED OTHER VEHICLES FOR SAME ISSUE DUE TO SAFETY BUT NOT MINE. I SEE ON LINE MANY FORUMS DISUCSSING MY EXACT ISSUE ON THE SAME MODEL YEAR. I WENT TO FORD CORPORATE WITH NO TRACTION AS THEY SEEMED LIKE THEY DIDNT KNOW THE ISSUE. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER & THEY AGREE THAT ITS FAILING & WANT TO CHARGE ME FULL PRICE FOR CORRECTION WHICH IS 2K TO REPLACE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK. I SAID I COULDN'T AFFORD, THEY INSPECTED MY VEHICLE & PASSED IT KNOWING THAT THE STEERING WAS UNSAFE. I CANNOT AFFORD 2K, I PAID 45K FOR THE TRUCK. I HAVE PURCHASE MANY FORDS. I AM HOPING THAT THIS BECOMES A RECALL SOON.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 F150 SUPERCREW CAB ON A 30 DEGREE EVENING, I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, A PASSENGER IN THE BACK SEAT HEARD A CRACKLING SOUND AND THEN A LOUD POP, THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE 3 SECTION REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED, WITHIN A FEW HOURS THE GLASS FROM THIS WINDOW HAD STARTED TO FALL OUT AND ENTER INTO THE CAB, AND ONTO THE SEATS. THIS HAPPENED ON 12/30/2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 6PM, SPEED WAS ABOUT 35 MPH AND NO OTHER TRAFFIC WAS ON THE ROAD. *TR
TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. TRUCK SHIFTS GEARS ERRATICALLY, REVERSE LIGHTS WILL NOT OPERATE CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE SHIFTING IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE INABILITY TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. AT TIMES THE REVERSE LIGHTS WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING FORWARD. FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS FOR THE SAME VEHICLE BUILT IN THE SAME PLANT, HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURE DATE FOR THE RECALL BEGINS IN AUGUST OF 2011, MY TRUCK WAS BUILT IN JUNE OF 2011. THEREFORE MY TRUCK IS NOT COVERED. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN PLACED AT RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT FOR THIS ISSUE. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGED BY FORD, AND CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULDN'T CHOOSE TO FIX EVERY VEHICLE AFFECTED BY THIS INSTEAD OF JUST A FEW. *TR
ON TUESDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 27, 2016 JUST AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING SPACE AT MY OFFICE A LIGHT FLASHED ON THE PANEL AND READ "POWER STEERING FAULT" AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 2-HOURS BEFORE STARTING IT AGAIN. NOW THE MESSAGE READ "SERVICE STEERING NOW". I CONTACTED FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY CAME THE NEXT DAY AND TOWED MY TRUCK TO UPPER MARLBORO FORD AS THEY ARE DOWN THE STREET FROM MY HOME. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THE STEERING RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF $2000. FURTHERMORE, THAT PART IS ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH FORD AND I'VE NOW READ WHERE HUNDREDS OF OTHER FORD F150 OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
STEADY DRIVING DOWN ROAD AT 40+ MPH, TRUCK AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR. COASTED TO A STOP, SHUT TRUCK OFF, STARTED IT BACK UP, AND TRANSMISSION WAS LOCKED INTO 5TH GEAR. VEHICLE WOULD NOT DOWN OR UP SHIFT, OR DISENGAGE INTO NEUTRAL. LCD AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LOST ALL INFORMATION INCLUDING SPEED, MPG, MILES REMAINING, CURRENT MILEAGE, ETC. CURRENT MODEL YEAR IS COVERED BY EXISTING FORD/NHTSA RECALL INCLUDING MY BUILD DATE AND BUILD LOCATION, HOWEVER FORD SAYS THAT THE SPECIFIC PART IN MY VEHICLE IS NOT APPLICABLE, DESPITE TSB/RECALL SYMPTOMS MATCHING MY ISSUE PERFECTLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION AND COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
REAR WINDOW PASSENGER SIDE SHATTERED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING REQUIRED ADDITIONAL EFFORT TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE TURNING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AT 10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 11V128000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BODY CONTROL MODULE) AND 10V659000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BODY CONTROL MODULE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
INTERCOOLER FOR TURBO HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR A THIRD TIME AS THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FOR PASSING, ETC.
REAR SLIDING WINDOW EXPLODED FROM ELECTRIC DEFROSTERS COULD NOT SEE OUT OF REAR WINDOW THE BANG WAS SO LOUD I LOST CONTROL FOR A MOMENT THERE WAS GLASS EVERYWHERE IN THE BACK SEAT FORD REFUSES TO EVEN LOOK AT IT AND THE EXTENDED COVERAGE WONT COVER THE REPAIR I CAN USE THE DEFROSTER WHEN HAVING SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEATS WHEN ITS COLD FOR THE FEAR OF INJURY TO THE CHILDREN THIS IS A OPTION THE COST BIG $$$$ AND CANT BE USED WHEN IT COLD AND HAVING MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE BACK SEATS FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP ON THIS ONE ITS NOT SAFE FOR MANY REASONS I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND IF THE CHILDREN WERE WITH ME IT COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. *TR
AFTER AUTO STARTING MY TRUCK ON THE MORNING OF DECEMBER 14 2016. UPON DEPARTING MY HOUSE, I HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE. HOWEVER I WAS NOT ABLE TO VERIFY WHERE IT CAME FROM UNTIL I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION. I NOTICED A PATTERN ON MY SLIDING REAR WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I DISCOVERED THE WINDOW WAS SHATTERED ALL THOUGH IT WAS STILL IN ONE PIECE. WHILE RESEARCHING METHODS OF REPAIR I DISCOVERED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 70 TIMES.IN PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE ATTRIBUTED TO FAULTY CONSTRUCTION OR AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE. I FEEL THIS IS A DRIVING HAZARD FOR BOTH DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF MINUTE GLASS FRAGMENTS GETTING IN EYES AND CAUSING INJURY AND POSSIBLY A FATAL ACCIDENT. THEREFORE I FEEL THAT AN IMMEDIATE RECALL IS NECESSARY. PEOPLE HAVE LODGED COMPLAINTS SINCE 2010 UNTIL PRESENT. INJURY WOULD OCCUR IF THE WINDOW WAS TO BLOW OUT CAUSING INJURY OR ACCIDENT TO OTHER VEHICLES OR PERSONS FOLLOWING MINE OR OTHERS VEHICLES (MOTORCYCLIST). *TR
MY 2011 F150 FX4 HAS BEEN ACTING UP WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. SO FAR THEY HAVE CHANGED ALL OF TH COIL PACKS, RESET THE TRANSMISSION, CHANGED ALL THE SPARK PLUGS IN A HOPE THAT WAS THE ISSUE. WELL IT'S NOT. THE TRUCK LUNGES FORWARD WITH LOUD BANGS AND GRINDING NOISES. RPM'S GO UP AND DOWN AND THE TRUCK SOUNDS AS IF I DOWNSHIFTED FROM 6TH GEAR TO FIRST. THEN I CAN ONLY GO 40 MILES AN HOUR WITH HIGH RPMS. ENGINE LIGHTS HAVE LIT UP AND NOW A WRENCH. THIS IS CRAZY MY GAUGES DON'T WORK THIS IS DANGEROUS.
STEERING DON'T WORK RITE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. AFTER THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS ACTIVATED, THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CASING OF THE HEATING ELEMENT AND THE SHATTERED AREA OF THE WINDOW CONTAINED BURN MARKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMING ON HARD STEERING HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR SAME PROBLEM FIRST TIME THEY CLEARD THE CODES SET LAST TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE ANGLE SENSOR IN THE POWER STEERIN IS BAD AND THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEED REPLACE (EPAS GEAR)
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WHEN REAR DEFROST WAS RUNNING. DEFROST HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR 10 MINUTES. VERY LOUD POP WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. *TR
WHEN STARTING OFF FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT VERY HARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER AND IT DID NOT DO IT FOR A FEW MONTHS. NOW IT DOES IT EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE. THIS SHOULD NOT DO THIS ANYMORE AFTER BEING AT THE DEALERS.
COMPLAINT OUR 2011 FORD F150 HAD AN INVOLUNTARY AIRBAG DEPLOY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW FROM THE FORD DEALER THEY MAINTAIN THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE CAUSE IS. CURRENTLY FORD IS REVIEWING HOWEVER, WILL NOT RESPOND TO WHEN THE EVALUATION WILL TAKE PLACE OR HOW LONG THE EVALUATION WILL TAKE AND THAT FORD COUNCIL IS "REVIEWING" HOWEVER, THEY WILL NOT TELL US WHEN WE CAN EXPECT A RESPONSE OR REMEDY IF AT ALL. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND FORD DEALER AND FORD CORPORATE ARE TELLING US, THOUGHT THE VEHICLE DOES HAVE A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THERE ARE MELTED WIRES THAT COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE HAD WE NOT STOPPED THE VEHICLE, THEY ARE NOT SURE THE PREMATURE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND THE SHORT CIRCUIT OF THE WIRING ARE RELATED. THOUGH THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT THE SAME TIME THE FORD DEALER MAINTAINS THAT THEY ARE NOT CONVINCED THAT IT FAILURES ARE RELATED. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OUT OF STATE FROM WHERE WE LIVE AND THE DEALER WAS OVER HUNDRED MILES FROM THE OCCURRENCE AND IT HAS NOW BEEN 7 DAYS AT THE DEALER WITH NO RESOLVE OFFERED NOT DO WE KNOW WHEN WE MIGHT HEAR BACK. CURRENTLY THE DEALER REFUSES TO WORK ON THE TRUCK UNTIL THEY HEAR FROM FORD AND FORD TOLD US IT IS UNDER REVIEW WITH LEGAL AND NO ACTIONS WILL BE DONE UNTIL "LEGAL COUNCIL" HAS REVIEWED. The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a dealer, and the contact was informed that the molded lead frame needed to be replaced. The contact was informed by the dealer that there was an unstated Customer Satisfaction Program related to the failure; however, the program had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD F150 PLATINUM ON A DARK CHILLY MORNING, THE WINDOWS AND OUTSIDE MIRRORS WERE FOGGED SO I HAD THE REAR DEFROSTER TURNED ON. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE THAT I THOUGHT WAS A GUNSHOT. I LATER NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE REAR WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. THIS GLASS WAS IN PLACE BUT CRACKED INTO THOUSANDS OF PIECES. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD NO INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AT 75000 MILES SO THEY WOULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. I SEE THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BEFORE THIS CAUSES A SERIOUS INCIDENT.

FORD FIXED ALL OF THOSE ISSUES ROUGHLY 50 THOUSAND MILES AGO, BUT HERE WE ARE, MY TRUCK IS AT 100,XXX MILES AND THIS ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE NOW BEEN RUN OFF THE ROAD TWICE AND ALMOST CRASHED INTO A LAKE! WHEN MY TRUCK LOSES ALL POWER AND STARTS SHAKING RAPIDLY, I LOSE CONTROL OF THE HALF TON TRUCK. I KNOW FOR A FACT I AM NEVER BUYING A FORD AGAIN, MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY HAS NOW BEEN COMPROMISED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND FORD HAS NOT ONCE TAKING RESPONSIBILITY OR OFFERED TO FIX THE ISSUE. STARTED TO GO DOWN THE ROAD AND ABOUT 10 MINS LATER ON THE HIGHWAY I HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT GUN BLAST. THE GLASS HAD SHATTERED BUT WAS STILL IN PLACE. I TAPED IT UP. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THIS. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

TWO DAYS LATER, DIED AGAIN. BROUGHT TO AUTO ZONE AND GOT DIAGNOSED ANITGER BAD COIL. I REPLACED THAT. NIW ONE WEEK LATER, VEHICLE BUCKS AND JERKS ON HIGHWAY.HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS AND SAY IT'S CONDENSATION IN INTER COOLER SYSTEM.FORD CLAIMS NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM OR REPAIRS OTHER THINGS AND PROBLEM PERSISTS. SYSTEM IS FILLED WAS FILLED WITH CONDENSATION. DANGEROUS AS VEHICLE CONTINUED TO BUCK AND NOT ACCELERATE.
STEERING LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING. WHILE MAKING A SHARP LEFT TURN IN A PARKING LOT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP MOMENTARILY THEN BECAME HARD TO TURN. AT THE SAME TIME I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING OR BUZZING SOUND AND THE 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK' LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED 150 MILES TO MY MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC CONFERRED WITH THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND DETERMINED THAT THE RACK AND PINION HAD TO BE REPLACE. TRUCK HAS 57,000 MILES ON IT. MY MECHANIC EXPECTED THE PART TO TAKE UP TO A WEEK TO ARRIVE BUT IT WAS DELIVERED THE SAME DAY. DEALER HAD SEVERAL UNITS IN STOCK. SEEMS STRANGE TO HAVE THAT MANY OF THIS P[ART IN STOCK UNLESS THERE IS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING FLAW THAT FORD HAS NOT DECLARED. I CHECKED THE F150 ONLINE FORUMS AND THERE ARE MANY REFERENCES TO THIS PROBLEM. NOT SURE WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE A RECALL HAPPEN BUT GIVEN THE SEEMINGLY HIGH NUMBER OF OWNERS AFFECTED BY THIS FORD SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO HELP. WHEN SHIFTING THE LEVER TO REVERSE, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE REVERSE IMMEDIATELY AND HAS A LONG DELAY BEFORE SHIFTING TO REVERSE. THE "R" INDICATOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE AND THE BACKUP LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON EVEN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES IN REVERSE. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK THIS MORNING (11/16/2016) AND EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS OUTLINED IN THE INITIAL RECALL. I AM GOING TO REACH OUT TO THE SERVICING DEALER (EBY FORD OUT OF GOSHEN, IN) AND FORD TO FIND OUT WHAT MY NEXT STEPS ARE. THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST AND SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN AT A VERY FAST RATE. FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL (16S19) WHICH WAS PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, BUT IT DID NOT RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I RETURNED TO MY LOCAL AND THEY KEEP CLEARING THE TRANSMISSION'S COMPUTER IN THE HOPES OF RELEARNING MY DRIVING HABITS. THIS WAS DONE TWICE SINCE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, WITH NO IMPROVEMENT.
