THE ENGINE MISFIRES AND CHANGES TO "LIMP MODE" AFTER THE ENGINE SHUDDERS, SHAKES AND LOOSES POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LIFE OF THIS VEHICLE. ALSO THE STEERING STICKS WHEN TURNING LEFT.
REAR DEFROSTER DID NOT WORK FOR A FEW WEEKS. I TRIED IT AGAIN THIS AM AND IT TURNED ON. 5 MINUTES LATER I HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND MY REAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE SHATTERED. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM AS MY INFANT SITS IN THE BACK FACING THIS WINDOW. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ASAP!!! FORD SHOULD BE LIABLE....
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, WHEN THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK FORWARD. WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE SPEED FAILED TO INCREASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (GULLO FORD OF CONROE- THE WOODLANDS, 925 INTERSTATE 45 S, CONROE, TX 77301), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED DUE TO DIAGNOSTIC FEES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE VIN TOOL INDICATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES ROUGH IDLE ON COLD STARTS, LUNGES WHEN IN DRIVE AND HESITATES ON QUICK TAKE OFF, DEALER INDICATES THAT CODES INDICATE THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP IS FAILING. VEHICLE HAS 35,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN OWNED LESS THAN 60 MONTHS, YET THE DEALER INDICATES THAT A TRANSMISSION PUMP IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S DRIVE WARRANTY. A TRANSMISSION IS UNDOUBTEDLY AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN, FAILURE OF THIS PART AT THIS LEVEL OF MILEAGE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND THE MANUFACTURER'S FAILURE TO COVER THIS ESSENTIAL REPAIR IS UNACCEPTABLE
AFTER SHARP TURNS 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC' MESSAGE APPEARS AND TURN SIGNALS MALFUNCTION, DEALER STATES SENSOR LOCATED IN STEERING RACK IS BAD AND THE ENTIRE RACK MUST BE REPLACED - VEHICLE HAS 35,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN OWNED LESS THAN 60 MONTHS, BUT THIS PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY. THIS FAILURE AND THE MANUFACTURER'S DISREGARD FOR THE ISSUE IS UNACCEPTABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE BEGAN TO SWING AND PROVIDED VARIOUS INCORRECT READINGS. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A SUDDEN HALT AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE VEERED. IN ADDITION, WHILE STARTING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY. MOST OFTEN IT FAILS WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING LEFT WHILE IN MOTION. WHEN IT FAILS, THE STEERING GOES TO MANUAL WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND COMPLETE THE TURN. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR INJURIES.
SERVICE BULLETIN WAS OUT FOR A BREAK BOOSTER VACUUM FOR 3 MDEL YEARS OF THE F150. HAD TAKEN MY TRUCK IN AROUND MID MAY 2016 AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. (HAD A LOANER TRUCK FOR OVER A MONTH) PART WAS INSTALLED AND HAD MY TRUCK BACK A WEEK OR TWO BEFORE THE 4TH OF JULY 2016. STARTED HEARING THE NOISE AGAIN AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET MY WORK SCHEDULE TO WORK WITH ME ON GETTING MY TRUCK IN TODAY 10-17-16 AND SURE ENOUGH PART IS BAD. NOW FORD IS SAYING IT'S ON ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS PART TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. BARELY 3 AND A HALF MONTHS AFTER IT WAS FIXED. CLAIMING THIS WAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION FIX. THERE IS NO DOUBT WHY THIS SHOULDN'T BE A RECALL AND WHY FORD SHOULDN'T BE MANNING UP AND TAKING CARE OF THIS ISSUE. POTENTIAL BRAKE FAILURE BECAUSE OF A REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH THIS PART ON MANY OTHER TRUCKS.
2011 F-150 CONTINUES TO LEAK FROM REAR HEADLINER. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO FORD IN 2013 AND 2014 FOR LEAKS. FORD CLAIMED THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM THE THIRD BRAKE LAMP ON CAB. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO LEAK CAUSING MOLDY SMELLING INSIDE ALSO MAKING VISUAL OBSTRUCTION INSIDE OF VEHICLE DUE TO MOISTURE BUILD UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE STOPPED, THE ENGINE REVVED UNCONTROLLABLY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000. I WAS SITTING IN A FAST FOOD LINE WAITING TO PLACE ORDER. THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING AND MY RIGHT FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. (I AM A ONE FOOT DRIVER.)THE TRUCK BEGAN TO INCH FORWARD. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I PRESSED HARD ON THE BRAKE AND THE REAR WHEELS BEGAN TO SPIN. I SLAMMED THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK AND CUT THE ENGINE OFF. I RE-STARTED THE ENGINE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL THE TRUCK OUT OF THE LINE. AFTER RE-STARTING THE ENGINE A COUPLE MORE TIMES I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME. THIS OCCURRED ON OCTOBER 14, 2016. I PARKED THE TRUCK AND CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. HE SAID I NEEDED TO BRING IT IN. I NEEDED TO MOVE THE TRUCK IN THE MEAN TIME AND IT DID IT AGAIN. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP COULDN'T GET THE TRUCK TO REPEAT THE PROBLEM. THEY TALKED TO THE FORD REGIONAL MANAGER AND I WAS TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK WHEN THEY HAD A SERVICE REP AVAILABLE TO FULLY CHECK IT OUT. I CHOSE TO LEAVE THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP RATHER THAN RISK DRIVING IT. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS, SAID THEY DROVE IT 273 MILES AND COULDN'T GET THE PROBLEM TO REPEAT. AND IF THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO REPEAT THE PROBLEM THEY COULDN'T HELP. THE FORD REGIONAL MANAGER SAID THE SAME THING. I HAVE A LOT MORE NOTES BUT THEY PRETTY MUCH SAY THE SAME THING. CAN YOU HELP ME? I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT IT BEING REPAIRED. ISN'T THERE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT FORD TRUCKS DOING THE SAME OR A SIMILAR THING? PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,476.
WHEN DRIVING AND TAKING A LEFT TURN, THE POWER STEERING STOPS, MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. IT IS INTERMITTENT, BUT IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN. BACK IN OCTOBER OF 2016 I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED. I WAS TOLD THAT MY WARRANTY WAS UP A WEEK EARLIER, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. I COULDN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR IT AT THE TIME, SO I DECLINED. NOW IT IS MUCH WORSE.
ON HARD ACCELERATION LIKE WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR IT WILL MISS FIRE CONTINUOUSLY THRU THE ACCELERATION 60-70 MPH.SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING THROWING P0300 CODES FOR MISFIRING AT 47,000 MILES CHANGED ALL SPARK PLUGS / COIL PACKS / WIRES / AIR FILTER / 48,000 STILL MISFIRING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. AFTER LEAVING AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THE ADVANCE TRACK SERVICE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE POWER STEERING AND TURN SIGNALS ALSO FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V316000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
MY 2011 FORD F-150 (WITH ONLY 34,000 MILES) INDICATED A POWER STEERING FAULT WHEN I STARTED IT. THE POWER STEERING WAS LOCKED AND TOOK A LOT OF FORCE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. LUCKILY THIS OCCURRED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND NOT ON A HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT AT HIGH SPEEDS. I HAD TO HAVE MY PICKUP TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RACK FOR OVER $2000!! AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION, I FOUND THAT THIS EPAS SYSTEM WAS NEW IN 2011 AND FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME, BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.
JUST LETTING YOU KNOW THE STUMBLE ISSUES TO THESE VEHICLES COULD BE DANGEROUS HAD IT HAPPEN A WEEK OR SO AGO WHILE TOWING. THE POWER WAS TOTALLY GONE AT FULL THROTTLE WHILE PASSING A VEHICLE. WHAT IF I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME. I JUST DISCOVERED ALL THIS INFORMATION. AS I AM TYPING THIS MY VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP GETTING THE CATALYTIC ON THE DRIVER SIDE (BANK ONE) REPLACED AND A RE-FLASH, AS IT THREW THE P0430 DTC. AGAIN IT WAS A DRASTIC POWER LOSS AT FULL THROTTLE, WHEN THROTTLE RELEASED REGULAR OPERATION OCCURRED. "YOU TRY LETTING OFF THE THROTTLE WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PASS, I DIDN'T". AND BY THE WAY I WAS A MECHANIC MOST OF MY WORKING DAYS. JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T REPORT IT DOESN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T EXIST. IN MY OPINION THERE ARE A LOT MORE OF THEM OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, JUST GOOGLE IT AND YOU WILL SEE MANY. THANK YOU *TR
REAR GLASS WINDOW ON 2011 F150 WITH POWER SLIDER- DRIVER SIDE BACK QUARTER GLASS SHATTERED, WHILE DRIVING. REAR DEFROSTER WAS ON. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS REPORTED ONLINE. I AM GLAD MY CHILDREN WEREN'T IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED AND IT STAYED IN THE FRAME AND DID NOT BLOW OUT/INTO THE REAR VEHICLE PASSENGER AREA
DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH. DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THIRTY MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME HOT AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, COOLED OFF, AND RESTARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AT VARIOUS DRIVING SPEEDS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. OVER THE LAST WEEK, FOUR TIMES THE STEERING BECAME STIFF AND WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, IT STAYED LOCKED IN THE SAME DIRECTION AND I HAD TO USE FORCE TO RETURN IT TO CENTER. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK IN A STRAIT LINE ON AN EMPTY ONE-WAY CITY STREET AT 35MPH, THE WHEELS VEERED LEFT AND RIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL NOT MOVING AT ALL. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING 70MPH I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I TOOK IT TO SAGINAW VALLEY FORD WHERE THEY FOUND THE EPAS SENSOR WAS SENDING OUT ERRATIC DATA. PRICE TO REPAIR IS $1617. WHAT I FIND INCREDIBLE IS THIS NOT AN UNKNOWN PROBLEM, AND TO WHICH WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALLS ABOUT. PEOPLE WILL DIE FROM THIS DEFECT, REMEMBER THE FORD TEMPLE?
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2011 FORD F150. HOWEVER, MY VIN IS NOT THE ONE AFFECTED. EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME TRANSMISSION AND YEAR.I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE BEING DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL AND ON THE FORUMS. I DROVE THE CAR AFTER IT WAS LEFT FOR 36 HOURS AND IT DOWNSHIFTED AFTER GOING 25 MPH. I COASTED BACK INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF CAR AND RESTARTED, WITH THE SAME ISSUE. IT EVENTUALLY GAVE ME A MAINT ERROR (YELLOW WRENCH) I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. AFTER IT WAS SHUT OFF OVERNIGHT IF WAS FINE THE NEXT DAY AND NO ERROR CODE. I HAD A MECHANIC PUT A SCANNER ON THE TRUCK AND HE COULD NOT PULL THE ERROR CODE. I HAVE USED IT SPARINGLY FOR 3 DAYS WITHOUT AN ISSUE. I AM JUST WORRIED, IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AT ANY TIME OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH SOMEONE PLOWING INTO ME WHEN IT DOWNSHIFTS. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM IF I AM ON A HIGHWAY AND IT HAPPENS. I CALLED FORD CORP AND THEY SAID SINCE I AM NOT ON THE RECALL PER MY VIN (EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME YEAR 2011 AND TRANSMISSION) SO I AM ON MY OWN. I HAVE IT DOCUMENTED WITH FORD AND THE DEALER. NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY RECALLS RECALL NUMBER 16V248000 RECALL DATE 04/27/2016 COMPONENT POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUMMARY FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 FORD F-150 TRUCKS MANUFACTURED AUGUST 19, 2011, TO MARCH 9, 2012, 2012 FORD EXPEDITION, LINCOLN NAVIGATOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AUGUST 19, 2011, TO DECEMBER 19, 2011, AND 2012 FORD MUSTANG VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AUGUST 19, 2011, TO FEBRUARY 21, 2012. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THAT MAY UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFT TO FIRST GEAR, REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE SPEED. CONSEQUENCE AN UNEXPECTED DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING AND THE REAR TIRES MAY SLIDE OR LOCK, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED RECENTLY FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON: DEARBORN, MICHIGAN ' FORD IS RECALLING 201,900 VEHICLES IN NORTH AMERICA, INCLUDING THE 2011-'12 FORD F-150 AND 2012 FORD EXPEDITION TO REPAIR A TRANSMISSION DEFECT, THE AUTOMAKER SAID ON WEDNESDAY. THE RECALL ALSO INCLUDES THE 2012 FORD MUSTANG AND LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE DEFECT HAS BEEN TRACED TO AN OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR ON THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME. "UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROLS COULD FORCE A TEMPORARY DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR," FORD SAID IN A STATEMENT. "DEPENDING ON THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE DOWNSHIFT, THE DRIVER COULD EXPERIENCE AN ABRUPT SPEED REDUCTION THAT COULD CAUSE THE REAR TIRES TO SLIDE OR LOCK UP. "THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH." FORD SAID IT IS AWARE OF THREE ACCIDENTS, BUT NO REPORTS OF INJURIES, LINKED TO THE RECALL. AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH A 6R80 TRANSMISSION. THE INFO ABOVE IS COPIED FROM EDMUNDS.COM THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED TO ME THIS MORNING. DRIVING 68MPH REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP. TRUCKED FISHTAILED. ALMOST FLIPPED IT . A MIRACLE I DID NOT ROLLOVER, GET REAR ENDED OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. NO RECALL FIX AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME PER FORD. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE DRIVEN UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS ADDRESSED AND REPAIRED. ALMOST KILLE D ME AND MAYBE OTHERS.
WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THE EPAS (ELECTRIC POWER-ASSISTED STEERING), WOULD CATCH AND LAG MOMENTARILY AND NOT RESPOND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT BACK TO CENTER. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND NOT ALL THE TIME. THIS FIRST HAPPENED AT APPROX. 21,000 MILES IN SEPTEMBER, 2013. MY FORD F150 WHILE STILL UNDER THE FACTORY 3 YEAR 36,000 WARRANTY WAS TAKEN INTO CORWIN FORD IN NAMPA IDAHO FOR WARRANTY REPAIR FOR THIS ISSUE (INVOICE 10763) ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2013. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE AND NO FIX WAS PERFORMED. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUING INTERMITTENT PROBLEM FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS. ON AUGUST 31, 2016 WITH 30,050 MILES ON MY F150, WHILE DRIVING IN IDAHO ON A PAVED WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD IN A PERIOD OF 30 MINUTES, THIS STEERING PROBLEM HAPPENED FIVE TIMES CAUSING MY F150 TO CROSS THE CENTERLINE AT LEAST TWICE, LUCKILY THEIR WERE NO VEHICLES IN THE OTHER LANE AT THE TIME. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AND MANY OTHER F150'S HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE STEERING. FORD ISSUE A TSB 11-8-18 IN AUGUST 2011 TO REPLACE THE EPAS STEERING GEAR UNDER STANDARD WARRANTY, MY TRUCK MET THIS TSB AS IT WAS BUILD MAY 23, 2011 AT DEARBORN. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO CORWIN FORD AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2016 AND HAD THE EPAS REPLACED AT 30,223 MILES (INVOICE 102627) DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. EVEN THOUGH I HAD TAKEN MY F150 FOR WARRANTY REPAIR OF THIS ISSUE UNDER THE WARRANTY TIME FRAME IT WAS NOT REPAIRED THEN, I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE PART NOW DUE TO THE TRUCK BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. I PAID $1757.77 TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED. NUMEROUS OTHER F150'S, INCLUDING LATER YEAR MODELS SEEM TO HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE IMPLEMENTED BY FORD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAN CAUSE YOUR VEHICLE TO VEER INTO ANOTHER LANE OR OFF THE ROAD. THIS IS AN UPDATE OF 10903035 FILED SEPTEMBER 1, 2016.
TSB 14-0196, TSB 15-0131, TSB 16-0027 - ALL EXPLAIN THE ISSUE, SO YES FORD KNOWS IT IS A RECURRING ISSUE. ITS BASICALLY THE ENGINE RATTLING FOR 2-5 SECONDS WHEN YOU STARTING THE VEHICLE FROM A COLD START. IN MECHANICS TERMS THE PRIMARY TIMING BELT HAS STRETCHED AND TAKES THAT 2-5 SECONDS TO PICK UP THE SLACK.THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS IT VERY WELL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A DRASTIC REDUCTION IN SPEED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ANY RATE OF SPEED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED TWICE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME. I STARTED GETTING PERIODIC WARNING LIGHTS TO "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" ON MY 2011 F150. THE WARNING WOULD GO AWAY AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE ONCE OR TWICE. FIRST TIME I THOUGHT IT MAY BE AN GLITCH IN THE COMPUTER SO DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT. AFTER SECOND TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC STEERING MODULE STARTING TO FAIL. IF IT IS NOT REPLACE I COULD LOOSE STEERING AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. I DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS INDEED AN ISSUE WITH SOME FORDS AND PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE POWER STEERING GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. BEING THIS IS THE PRIMARY VEHICLE USED FOR FAMILY TRANSPORTATION I WAS WORRIED. I CALLED FORD AS SOON AS MY DEALER TOLD ME THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. IS LOCATED IN FLORIDA AND THEY WERE CLOSED DUE TO A HURRICANE. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO HAVE THE DEALER FIX THE PROBLEM AND TRY AN DEAL WITH FORD LATER. I CALLED FORD TODAY AND THEY WERE UNWILLING TO ASSIST ME WITH THIS ISSUE, WOULD NOT SEND/EMAIL ME A COPY OF THE CASE FILE NOTES DETAILING MY DISCUSSION WITH THE REP AND REFERRED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER SINCE THE REPAIRS HAVE ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUTTER AND LOOSE POWER DURING ACCELERATION. A FEW DAYS LATER IN SUNNY WEATHER IT WAS FINE WITH NO PROBLEMS ACCELERATING. LOOKS LIKE FROM READING ON THE NHTSA SITE THIS IS A TURBO ISSUE THAT OCCURS DURING HUMID OR WET WEATHER. SINCE FORD IS AWARE WHAT WILL THEY BE DOING TO SOLVE THE ISSUE?

WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL THE EPAS (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST) CATCHES AND LAGS FOR A SHORT TIME AND DOES NOT RESPOND. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND NOT ALL THE TIME. IT WAS TAKEN IN TO CORWIN FORD IN NAMPA, IDAHO FOR THIS PROBLEM ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT 21,310 MILES (INVOICE NUMBER 10763). THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO FIX WAS DONE. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUING PROBLEM EVER SINCE AND STILL HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY. YESTERDAY, AUGUST 31, 2016 WITH 30,050 MILES ON MY F150, THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING THIS PROBLEM WITH RETURNING TO CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND CAN CAUSE YOU TO VEER OUT OF YOUR LANE OR TOWARD THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

CAR INDICATED LOW BRAKE FLUID AT TRAFFIC LIGHT 1... BRAKES OPERATED PROPERLY FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT 2 THEN SUDDENLY AT SPEED BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW FOR ENTRY TO HIGHWAY ON RAMP AFTER TRAFFIC LIGHT 3. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID MEDIAN AT ON RAMP AS WELL AS TWO OTHER CARS WHILE VEHICLE ROLLED TO STOP BEFORE TRAFFIC LIGHT 4.
BRAKES SUBBEND FALED NO WARNING. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR VACUUM PUMP IN BREAK VACUM SYSTEM TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD CALL WHEN CAME IN IN JUNE. WHEN IT ACTS UP YOU HAVE TO STAND ON PENAL TO STOP. WAS ON VACATION THE BREAKS TOTAL GAVE OUT WITH NO WARNING. I WAS FORCED TO PAY TO HAVE FIXED.
REAR SLIDING GLASS WINDOW DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING AROUND 90000 MILES, FORD DEALER SAYS I HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW REAR GLASS. TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS FEELING AS IF SOMEONE RAN INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. TRAVELING ON I-10 AT APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES AN HOUR WENT TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE, WHEN I ACCELERATED TO PASS THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED INTO 3 GEAR ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL. TRANSMISSION HAS A PROBLEM (NO NOTICE FROM FORD) TALKED TO SEVERAL OWNERS HAVING SIMILAR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.
EXPERIENCE AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF THE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR (OSS) SIGNAL TO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE, POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN A TEMPORARY, UNINTENDED DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR. AN UNINTENDED DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR MAY OCCUR CAUSING THE REAR TIRES TO SLIDE OR LOCK UP. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE APRIL 2011. STILL NO REMEDY. TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.

TAKATA RECALL WHEN DRIVING TRUCK BETWEEN 35 MPH AND 45MPH, AND MAKING A LEFT SWEEPING TURN AROUND A CURVE, THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK AT THE 10:00 POSITION. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH BRUNSWICK FORD, THEY TOOK IT IN TO LOOK AT IT, AND SAID THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO DO IT, BUT THEY SAID I PROBABLY NEED A NEW $1200.00 STEERING ASSEMBLY. ODLY ENOUGH IT DID THE SAME THING ON THE WAY HOME, AND STILL CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING.
2011 FORD F-150 SUPERCREW XLT 4X2. IN THE LAST YEAR I HAD THE SPRING MECHANISM THAT SECURES THE FUEL DOOR BREAK AND NO LONGER PROVIDES A SECURE SEAL. I HAVE NOTICED THAT A NUMBER OF OTHER FORD F-150'S AROUND THE SAME MODEL YEARS EXHIBIT A SIMILAR ISSUE AND I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE SEEN A RECALL WITH THE NUMBER OF ISSUES IN THIS CATEGORY
WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND LOST POWER. I WAS TOWING A TRAILER AT THE TIME AND WAS NEARLY STRUCK BY A LARGE TRUCK BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET UP TO SPEED OR OFF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 3.5 LITER ECOBOOST ENGINES AND IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULLY ADDRESSED BY FORD.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE CAUSES THE STEERING TO LOCK. VEHICLE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL WITHOUT EXTREME EFFORT. FAILURE OCCURS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN. AT ONLY 44000 MILES. THIS IS A POORLY ENGINEERED DESIGN, NOT A RESULT OF ABUSE OR NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
WHILE DRIVING AND MOSTLY TURNING LEFT EITHER ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY STREETS, NOTICED THE WHEEL WILL NOT RETURN TO THE STRAIGHT POSITION, I SEEMS "LIGHT" WHEN TURNING LEFT AND KIND OF STICKS, AND WILL NOT RETURN TO THE NEUTRAL POSTION.
ONE OF THE BACK BOLTS BROKE OFF OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHILE DRIVING. . THIS CAUSED THE GASKET TO FAIL WHICH IN TURN MADE A LOUD NOISE. BECAUSE THIS IS A TURBO CHARGED ENGINE THE MOTOR LOST POWER. TOOK TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, GASKET AND BROKEN BOLTS. TOTAL REPAIRS WERE $1214.02
VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND MISFIRES WHEN ACCELERATING ESPECIALLY AT 50MPH OR HIGHER. RECURRING PROBLEM OVER THE YEARS. MOSTLY AN ISSUE WHEN PASSING ON TWO-LANE HIGHWAY. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE NEW, I'VE HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS RELATED TO ACCELERATION. VEHICLE WOULD ALMOST STALL ON HARD ACCELERATION WHEN GETTING ON THE FREEWAY. DEALER REPLACED SPARK PLUGS & BOOTS, BUT CONDITION WAS NOT COMPLETELY RESOLVED. VEHICLE WOULD STILL ON OCCASION REPEAT THE SAME PROBLEM. MORE RECENTLY WHEN DRIVING YESTERDAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING, THEN BECAME STEADY. OF GREATER CONCERNED I GOT AN ENGINE LIGHT & POOR ACCELERATION. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER & DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT THE TIMING BELT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2000+. VEHICLE HAD JUST TURNED 61000 MILES. DEALER SERVICE AGENT TELLS ME ITS NOT UNCOMMON AND COULD BE CAUSED BY NOT GETTING THE OIL CHANGED AT RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. VEHICLE HAS HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES AT THE DEALER & OTHER SERVICE FACILITIES. NEVER HEARD OF THIS & I THINK IT'S PREMATURE FOR A VEHICLE WITH 61000 MILES TO NEED THE TIMING BELT REPLACED. NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN IN 45+ YEARS OF DRIVING.
STEERING STICKS, SLIGHT TURN TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, LET GO OF THE WHEEL, AND THE WHEEL DOES NOT RETURN TO STRAIGHT. VERY HARD TO STEER. PROBLEM COMES AND GOES BUT HAS BECOME WORSE LATELY. I HAVE TO REALLY CONCENTRATE WHEN THE CONDITION IS AT IT'S WORST. IT'S AN UNSAFE STEERING SITUATION. CONDITION OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS, ON PAVED AND ON DIRT ROADS.
ECOBOOST 3.5 L TIMING CHAIN STRETCH. ON START UP AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT, TIMING CHAIN SLAPPS THE SIDE OF THE CRANK CASE. COMMON PROBLEM ON ECOBOOST ENGINE. DEALER TELLS ME I NEED NEW ENGINE.
PRIMARILY WHILE TURNING LEFT POWER STEERING GOES HARD. USUALLY RECOVERS AFTER TURNING TO RIGHT. INTERMITTENT TOTAL POWER STEERING FAILURE. AS YET, UNABLE TO DETERMINE REPRODUCIBLE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS TO DEMONSTRATE ISSUE TO DEALER.
AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN A PARKING LOT, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHEN YOU TURN TO THE LEFT AND YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY BRING IT BACK. A REAL SURPRISE! IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED TURNING TO THE RIGHT.
