TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR AUTOMATIC INTERIOR DOORS LOCKS FAILED TO UNLATCH. THE FAILURE RECURRED VARIOUS TIMES WHENEVER THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED. THE OCCUPANT WAS FORCED TO EXIT OUT OF A NEARBY WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE REAR DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE LATCH ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 03/05/14*LJ
DOZENS OF INCIDENTS OF MISFIRE AND LOSS OF POWER UPON ACCELERATION SOMETIMES RESULTING IN SEVERE SHAKING AND FLASHING OF ENGINE LIGHT. HAS NEARLY CAUSED ACCIDENT ON 2 OCCASIONS WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO MANEUVER THROUGH TRAFFIC. IN SHOP 3 TIMES, FIRST 2 TIMES TECHNICIANS SUPPOSEDLY COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM (VERY EASY TO REPLICATE IF TRYING TO DO IT). MOST RECENTLY ADVISED THAT I MIGHT NEED A "TUNE-UP" AND OIL CHANGE. 2 DIFFERENT SERVICE CENTERS REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE A KNOWN PROBLEM DESPITE A FLOOD OF POSTINGS ON INTERNET FORUMS DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
FIRST, THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, I WOULD GUESS AT A MINIMUM 20 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR OR SO. THE DATE AN MILEAGE LISTED ARE ESTIMATES ABOUT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED. WHAT USUALLY HAPPENS IS THAT I AM WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT AND MY VEHICLE WILL SHUTTER AS IF IT WERE ABOUT TO STALL AND WILL THEN GET A SMALL BURST OF POWER AND JERK FORWARD SLIGHTLY. AS I MENTIONED, THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, AND I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT MY FOOT HAD COME OFF THE BRAKE BECAUSE OF THE JERKING FORWARD. I RECENTLY REALIZED THIS WAS A PROBLEM WHEN I HEARD ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
DRIVING 60 MPH AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN CLIMBING UP A MODERATE SLOPE (1-2%), TOWING A 6800 LBS 35FT TRAVEL TRAILER, AND SUDDENLY THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT TURNS ON AND STARTS FLASHING, VIBRATIONS FROM WHAT I ASSUME WAS THE ENGINE, SHOOK THE ENTIRE TRUCK AND CAUSED MY VEHICLE SPEED TO DROP FROM 60 MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN A FEW SECONDS. TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS SLOWLY PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER, THEN IN A FEW MOMENT THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND ENGINE EVERYTHING WAS FIND. I WAS LUCKY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME AND THE TRAILER DIDN'T JACK KNIFE ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER THAN NEEDS ATTENTION AND INVESTIGATED AND ACTION TAKEN AGAINST. I WILL BE TAKING MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION IN A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO SMOKE. MY WIFE AND I WERE ALMOST KILLED WHEN WE TRIED TO MOVE OFF THE ROAD BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. THERE WAS NO WAY OF CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE WITH NO ACCELERATION AND MAJOR VIBRATION OF THE TRUCK. I NOTICE THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ECOBOOST F150 ENGINES AS WELL. *TR
YESTERDAY I WENT TO PASS A TRUCK THAT MADE AN ILLEGAL TURN, AND HAD TO HIT THE GAS HARD TO GET OUT OF THE WAY, ONLY DID IT FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS, THAN WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS, THE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING AT HIGH SPEED FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 3 SECONDS? AND MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE PEDAL AT THAT TIME. *TR
CPSC#I12A0451A. 2011 FORD F150. CONSUMER STATED WIFE WAS SEVERELY INJURED, FINGER WAS CUT ON DRIVERS SEAT WHILE VACUUMING VEHICLE. NEEDED SURGERY ON FINGER TO REPAIR DAMAGE. *LN THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE SHARP EDGES ON THE SEAT.
TRAVELING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 WHEN HARD ACCELERATION VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE BECOMES VERY DANGEROUS HAVE ALMOST CAUSED MAJOR PILE UP DUE TO LOSS OF POWER AND TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL THIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS LIKE IT ARE GOING TO START KILLING PEOPLE. ALL OVER THE INTERNET PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT SAME PROBLEM AND SO FAR FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THESE VEHICLES AND THAT IS VERY CONCERNING. PLEASE HELP BEFORE MANY PEOPLE ARE KILLED. *TR
VEHICLE BEGAN SHUDDERING HEAVY BETWEEN 40MPH AND 50MPH. REQUIRING ME TO DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL HEAVY TO AVOID THE SHUDDERING, ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT 45 MPH (WHICH IS THE SPEED LIMIT IN MOST OF THE AREA I DRIVE IN). THIS OCCURRENCE IS WHEN 5TH GEAR CHANGING TO 6TH GEAR, WHICH IS TYPICAL BETWEEN 45 MPH. NOT SURE WHAT DAMAGE THIS IS DOING TO MY VEHICLE, LET ALONE THE SAFETY RISK THIS MAY BE CAUSING. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE DEALERSHIP AT LEASE 6 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND WITH NO RESULTS OF THE ISSUE BEING RESOLVED. WHEN YOU ARE GOING OVER BUMPS THERE IS RATTLES AMD CLUNKS IN THE STEERING AND THE STEERING IS LOOSE.THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS AND IT FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK IS LOOSE. THANKS *TR
MY TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH THE ECOBOOST 3.5L ENGINE. TWICE NOW I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND HAD THE TRUCK LOSE POWER AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY, CREATING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE FIRST TIME WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE WARM (75 DEGREES F) WITH LIGHT RAIN. I PULLED OUT TO PASS AND ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE TRUCK SUDDENLY ACTED AS IF THE GAS WAS SHUT OFF. IT THEN BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SHUDDER VIOLENTLY AS IF THE REAR AXEL WAS BEING RIPPED FROM BENEATH IT. I WAS ABLE TO FALL BACK BEHIND THE VEHICLE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS, OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE TRUCK, IT SEEMED TO RUN NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE TECH INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND STATED IT IS A PROBLEM FORD IS AWARE OF (IN WET CONDITIONS), BUT HAS NO FIXES. THE SECOND TIME I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE INTERSTATE FROM A REST STOP INTO A SINGLE LANE CONSTRUCTION ZONE. THE WEATHER WAS COOL (45 DEGREES F), DRY AND SUNNY. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRUCK ACTED AS IT DID ON THE FIRST INSTANCE. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF OF THE LANE BETWEEN TWO LARGE CONSTRUCTION PYLONS IN ORDER TO AVOID BEING STRUCK BY A TRACTOR/TRAILER. THE SUPPLIED DATES, MILEAGE AND SPEED WERE FROM THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT. *TR
I HAD JUST TURNED ONTO THE ON RAMP OF THE TURNPIKE. THERE WAS HEAVY TRAFFIC AND I NEEDED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY TO AVOID A SEMI TRUCK TRAVELING IN THE RIGHT LANE. AS I PUSHED THE PEDAL DOWN THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND LOST POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE TO AVOID A COLLISION. THIS LOSS OF POWER HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN. AT FIRST ON HARD ACCELERATION AND THEN IT BECAME COMMON AT ANY LEVEL OF ACCELERATION. AS OF THIS WRITING THE DEALER HAS DONE HIS BEST TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE A SHORTAGE OF PARTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND EITHER BUY THESE VEHICLES BACK OR FIND A RELIABLE FIX. IF IT IS WATER ENTERING THE ENGINE AS THEIR INITIAL INVESTIGATION SAYS, ARE THEY GOING TO COVER THAT DAMAGE IF ANY? *TR
TWO ISSUES HERE. FIRST ISSUE. WHEN MAKING TURNS THERE IS A CLUNK SOUND FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AFTER THE TURN AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS RETURNED TO FORWARD POSITION. HAPPENS INTERMITTENT. CANNOT FEEL THE CLUNK IN THE WHEEL, BUT THE SOUND IS LIKE METAL ON METAL. SECOND ISSUE: REAR SUSPENSION CLUNKS AND SQUEAKS A LOT. (LIKE IT IS 20+ YEARS OLD.) STANDING ON THE BUMPER OR PUSHING SIDEWAYS ON THE FENDER MAKES THE REAR-END SQUEAK. I TOOK IT TO FORD FOR REPAIR AND THEY STATED THERE WAS A TECHNOTE THAT TOLD THEM TO 'LUBE' THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS. FOR A FEW MONTHS IT MADE THE SOUND GO AWAY, BUT MADE THE BACKEND FEEL LOOSE OR LIKE IT WAS SLIDING SIDEWAYS ON CORNERS. AT THIS SAME VISIT THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE CHANGED NOTICEABLY. ACCELERATION WAS SMOOTHER AND DID NOT HESITATE AS MUCH. (THEY SAY THEY DID NOTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS CHANGE.) I'M NOT SURE I AM GETTING TRUE ANSWERS FROM THE SERVICE ADVISOR. NOW SIX MONTHS LATER ALL THE SOUNDS AND CLUNKING SOUNDS ARE BACK. I FEEL LIKE IT WAS NOT DESIGNED SAFE ENOUGH FOR THE LOAD RATING THEY GAVE IT OR SOMETHING. I WANT TO MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE AND NOT GOING TO JUST END UP PHYSICALLY BROKEN SOMEWHERE ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LUBE IT EVERY SIX MONTHS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERK AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED BUT NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED AND NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED, THE PLUGS HAVE BEEN CHANGED 3 TIMES, THE IGNITION COILS HAVE ALL BEEN CHANGED. THE IS AN INTERMITTENT MISFIRE WHICH IS UNEXPLAINED. FORD DOES NOT HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THE GHOSTS IN THIS MACHINE. UPON SEARCHING THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE IN THE F-150 ECOBOOST, I HAVE FOUND THAT I AM NOT ALONE, HOWEVER WAS UNLUCKY THAT MINE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I DO MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH THIS VEHICLE. MOST CASES ONLINE ARE UNDER 90,000 MILES. IT IS ABSURD FOR A VEHICLE TO EXPERIENCE THESE KIND OF ISSUES WITH THE HIGHWAY DRIVING. THIS IS ALSO THE SAME ENGINE THAT IS BEING SUPPLIED TO OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN FORD INTERCEPTOR AND EXPLORER MODELS. I AM SURE THIS ISSUE WOULD BECOME ESCALATED THE MOMENT AN OFFICER CANNOT PURSUE A VEHICLE BECAUSE OF MISFIRES AND BAD TIMING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE ALIGNED. AS A RESULT, THE TIRES WERE WEARING PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CAMBER POLE WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
I OWN A 2011 F-150, 5.0, CREW CAB, 4X4. I STARTED NOTICING A POPPING OR CLINKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE NOISE HAS BEEN GETTING WORST AND IS VERY ANNOYING AS WELL. I NOTICE AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN DRIVING DOWN OUR GRAVEL ROAD. I TYPED THIS ISSUE IN AS WELL ON THE F-150 FORUM AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS POST WITH SAME ISSUE! MANY ARE SAYING IT HAS TO DEAL WITH ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST STEERING. I WILL BE TAKING IT INTO THE DEALER, TO HOPEFULLY GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TURBO CHARGER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. *TR
ON TWO OCCASIONS ON THE SAME DATE I LOST POWER UNDER ACCELERATION AND ON THE SECOND OCCASION I WAS PRESENTED A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED TO BILLY HOWELL FORD CUMMING, GA THAT SAME DATE AND LEFT WITH THEM WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. I HAD JUST HAD IT IN THE SAME DEALER ON 8/30 COMPLAINING OF MISSING AND "BACKFIRING", BUT THEY CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE DEALER CLAIMS TO HAVE REPLACED AIR DEFLECTOR AND PROBLEM HAS NOT PRESENTED ITSELF TO THAT EXTENT AGAIN. HOWEVER, I DO EXPERIENCE FAIRLY SIGNIFICANT STALLING OR DELAY IN ACCELERATING FROM DEAD STOP. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THE ENGINE OF MY F-150 ECO -BOOST SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE WILL RUN FINE FOR HOURS AND THEN IT WILL BEGIN TO SPUTTER AND CRAP OUT AND DIE. THE 1ST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS TRAVELING 65 MILES ON HOUR ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT JUST STARTED CRAPPING OUT LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS. IT BARELY RAN UNTIL I COULD GET OFF THE FREEWAY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE HAD IT STOP RUNNING ON AT LEAST 10 OCCASIONS. ONLY 1 TIME DID THE DEALER GET A CODE WHICH INDICATED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS FAILING. REPLACED THAT. THREE DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN IN THE EXACT SAME WAY. IT WILL RUN FINE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DECIDES THAT IT WANTS TO CRAP OUT AND START SPUTTERING. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER WHEN THIS HAPPENS TURN THE ENGINE OFF, TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TRY TO START. I HAVE HAD TO WAIT AS LONG AS A FEW MINUTES TO OVER AN HOUR FOR THE COMPUTER TO REBOOT AND ALLOW THE TRUCK TO RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN SOME VERY REMOTE LOCATIONS WHERE IT WOULD HAVE REQUIRED THAT I HIKE AS MUCH AS 20 MILES TO SEE A LIVING SOUL AGAIN TO FIND HELP. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM THAT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD IN DEATHS IF A RECALL IS NOT PERFORMED TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE TO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE TO IGNORE THAT IT IS NOT A PROBLEM ALTHOUGH FORD TOLD ME THEY DID NOT HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH ANY OTHER TRUCKS. NOW I SEE ON THIS SITE THAT PERHAPS THEY ARE CHOOSING IGNORANCE OVER SAFETY. *TR
LACK OF ACCELERATION - I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE IN HEAVY RAIN. I THEN STOPPED FOR GAS. AFTER STOPPING FOR GAS I WENT THROUGH A TOLL BOOTH AND RE-ENTERED THE INTERSTATE. THE PICKUP WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT A NORMAL RATE. I COULD ONLY GO 30-40 MILE PER HOUR FOR THE FIRST MILE OR SO THEN IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE COMPUTER SET A CODE. AFTER RETURNING HOME I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THEY CHECKED THE CODE AND REPLACED THE CONVERTER ASY. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THE COMPLAINTS OF THE ECO-BOOST. I WAS GOING ABOUT 75 MPH ON INTERSTATE IN ALABAMA. FLOORED IT TO PASS AND ENGINE WENT DEAD. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. COASTED TO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY AND IT STARTED TO SPUTTER AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO GAS STATION ON EXIT ABOUT 200 YDS AWAY. TURNED OFF ENGINE FOR ABOUT 10 MIN. GOT BACK ON HIGHWAY(WITH ENGINE LIGHT OFF ) AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME IN EAST TEXAS. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET LOOKED AT. THEY PUT ON SOME PLATE ON THE TURBO COOLING RADIATOR. LAST MONTH, TOOK IT UP TO IOWA. COMING BACK, IT DID IT AGAIN IN TULSA OK. THIS TIME ENGINE LIGHT ON ALL THE WAY HOME. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID A 3 PRONGED CABLE, THE PRONGS BROKE, GOING TO ONE OF THE TURBOS. *TR
SURGING AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. FEELS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT DOWNSHIFTING AND REQUIRES HARD BRAKING TO PREVENT VEHICLE FROM MOVING INTO AN INTERSECTION, OR A CAR STOPPED AHEAD GOING IN THE SAME DIRECTION. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE. THE SECOND TIME I ALMOST HIT THE CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. *TR

MY 2011 F150 IS EQUIPPED WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE AND HAS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE NEW. DURING LONG DRIVES WHEN IT IS WET OUT THE TRUCK LOSES POWER, STUMBLES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. ON ONE OCCASION I WAS MAKING A PASS AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED, CREATING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO EXTREME LOSS OF POWER. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO IT SEEMS TO RE-SET BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND FUEL ECONOMY IS POOR. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK BACK TO FORD AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND EVERY TIME I GET A DIFFERENT STORY. I THINK THIS ISSUE EFFECTS A LOT MORE F150'S THAN REPORTED SINCE THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE DRIVEN A LONG TIME IN WET CONDITIONS AND THEN THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. BEGAN TO NOTICE ROUGH SHIFTING A LOWER SPEEDS (30 - 45) AT ABOUT 12,000 MILES. OVER TIME IT BECAME MORE PRONOUNCED AND FEELS LIKE THE ENGINE IS LUGGING AT THIS SPEED. THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES A SHUDDER WHEN SHIFTING UP OR DOWN AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING A PROBLEM GETTING INTO GEAR. LEFT THE TRUCK AT THE DEALER FOR 3 DAYS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I THINK THE STREETS THEY WERE DRIVING WERE SO ROUGH THAT THEY COULDN'T FEEL THE SHUDDER. I WAS TOLD THAT IT MAY BE A PROBLEM THE COMPUTER IS HAVING SYNCHRONIZING THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THE ENGINE RPM'S. DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AT 20,000 MILES NOW. *TR

BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES IN A 2 YEAR SPAN. THE LAST TIME WITHIN 3 MONTHS. VACUUM BOOSTER LEAKS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT RUNNING. WHEN STARTED AND PUT INTO GEAR THE BRAKES WILL NOT WORK UNTIL IT THE SYSTEM CAN GAIN VACUUM, APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 30 SECONDS. IF VEHICLE IS PUT INTO GEAR YOU CANNOT STOP IT FROM MOVING. IT NEARLY CAUSED ME TO GET INTO SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. THE VACUUM BOOSTER HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. THIS SUMMER (2014) FORD HAD 1200 OF THE BOOSTERS ON BACK ORDER DUE TO THE NUMBER THAT WERE FAILING IN THE F150'S. MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE FIXED FOR 6 WEEKS WHILE THE DEALER WAITED FOR THE PART. IF THE ISSUE IS IGNORED THE BOOSTER WILL HAVE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE CAUSING BRAKE SYSTEM TO STOP WORKING AND A POTENTIAL FOR A ACCIDENT. *TR

NEW TIRES WERE DRY ROTTED ON NEW TRUCK WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I HAD TO BUY 4 NEW TIRES. OLD TIRES ARE AVAILABLE
DURING THE PROCESS OF DRAINING ENGINE OIL, WAS REMOVING THE OIL FILTER AND OIL STARTED TO POUR OUT UNDER THE TRUCK. THERE IS AN OIL FILTER DRAIN CATCH BASIN THAT IS INSTALLED TO MAKE ALL THE OIL BEING SPILLED COME OUT WHERE IT CAN BE CAPTURED. THE CATCH BASIN IS NOT INSTALLED IN A MANNER THAT ALLOWS THE OIL TO DRAIN PROPERLY, INSTEAD, THE BACK END IS LOWER THAN THE DRAIN PORTION. BLOGS SEEM TO CONFIRM THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THESE TRUCKS. *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE 7/2012. WHEN DRIVING AWAY FROM CERTAIN SITUATIONS, TRANSMISSION WILL SLAM INTO 2ND GEAR. LOCAL DEALER HAS REPLACED SHIMS IN REAR SUSPENSION, NEW DRIVESHAFT, MAJOR AND MINOR TRANSMISSION PARTS, REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER, ETC., ALL TO NO AVAIL. PARTING WORDS FROM THE DEALER WERE ALWAYS "GIVE THE COMPUTER 500 MILES TO SETTLE IN AND ALL WILL BE GOOD" NEVER HAPPENED, TRANSMISSION STILL SLAMS INTO SECOND AND PUSHING 140,000 MILES NOW. HAVE EVEN WRITTEN LETTERS TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT THIS. TOOK TRUCK INTO DEALER PER THEIR RECOMMEND AND NOT FIXED. FEEL I WILL NEED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK INTO THE GROUND AS CAN'T THINK ANYBODY WOULD WANT TO BUY IT LIKE THIS. WOULD ALSO THINK TWICE ABOUT BUYING ANOTHER FORD TRUCK.
I MADE A LEFT TURN FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT STOP, AS I WAS ACCELERATING ON A MODERATE RATE, THE ENGINE "TOOK OFF" (UNINTENDED ACCELERATION) AND IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED TO ~50+MPH. I SWITCHED TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SLOWED DOWN TO THE SPEED LIMIT, ~35 MPH. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS NOT STUCK ON THE FLOOR MAT (IT WASN'T). I REENGAGED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ACCELERATION STARTED IMMEDIATELY AGAIN. THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURRED THREE TIMES IN A STRETCH OF ABOUT 2 MILES OR SO, UNTIL I HAD A CLEAR, SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON, AT LEAST NOT THAT I COULD NOTICE. AFTER I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND STARTED UP AGAIN THINGS WERE FINE. I TRIED TO "RECREATE" THE SITUATION BY SUDDENLY ACCELERATING, BUT TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE IS A 2011 FORD F-150 PICKUP WITH 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. *TR

THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT HIGH SPEEDS THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTS INTO FIRST GEAR CAUSING A RAPID SLOW DOWN AND DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THIS ACTION TELLING ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE POWER TRAIN. I WAS TRAVELING IN THE RIGHTHAND LANE OF THE EAST BOUND SIDE OF I24 AROUND MANCHESTER, TN. MY SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH. I SUDDENLY CAME UP UPON SLOWER TRAFFIC IN THE SAME LANE AND SIGNALED TO PASS THE SLOWER TRAFFIC. AS I LOOKED IN MY MIRRORS FOR TRAFFIC BEHIND ME I NOTICED ANOTHER VEHICLE CLOSING ON ME IN A HURRY. I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO GAIN SPEED AND MAKE THE PASS. THE VEHICLE LURCHED AND THE MOTOR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PASS. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME LOCKED THEIR BRAKES AND MANAGED TO SLOW THEIR VEHICLE DOWN BEFORE POSSIBLY COLLIDING WITH ME. I LET THE SLOWER TRAFFIC ON THE RIGHT PASS AND SIGNALED TO GET BACK IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. INCIDENT TWO ONE YEAR AFTER FIRST REPAIR: SAME SCENARIO AS FIRST INCIDENT - PULLING OUT OF A TOLL BOOTH AFTER DRIVING IN THE RAIN THE TRUCK LOST POWER AND ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED. A MINUTE LATER IT RECOVERED AND RESUMED NORMALLY. AFTER AN ARGUMENT WITH THE DEALER (THEY COULD NOT PULL A CODE), THEY ORDERED AND INSTALLED A NEW CAC AND SHROUD. INCIDENT THREE TWO WEEKS AFTER SECOND REPAIR: PULLED OUT TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE. TRUCK LOST POWER AS IT DID IN FIRST TWO INCIDENTS. ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED THEN REMAINED ON STEADY. HAD TO ABORT THE PASS. VEHICLE IS RETURNING TO DEALERSHIP PENDING DIAGNOSTICS. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECTIVE DESIGN IN THESE VEHICLES THAT COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IMAGINE PULLING OUT OF A TOLL BOOTH IN FRONT OF A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK AND LOOSING ALL POWER TO MOVE. NOT GOOD. THE VALUE AND SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE IS COMPROMISED. STEERING BECAME SLUGGISH AND PULLED SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS FLAT. AFTER PULLING OVER THE TIRE WAS NOT FLAT. PROBLEM WAS NOT PRESENT AFTER I HAD STOPPED TO CHECK TIRE. FROM THAT TIME ON WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THERE WAS AN OCCASIONAL "STICKINESS" TO THE STEERING. ALSO WHILE WHEEL WAS TURNED COMPLETELY TO RIGHT OR LEFT THERE WOULD BE A THUMP AND THEN IT WOULD STICK JUST A BIT BEFORE STEERING NORMALLY. DURING THE LONGEST STRETCH OF THIS TROUBLE I HAD AN APPOINTMENT MADE TO HAVE IT CHECKED BUT IT STOPPED BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT. THEN THIS WEEK AT ABOUT 25 TO 30 MILES AN HOUR IT WAS A VERY NOTICEABLE JERK TO RIGHT AND LEFT WHILE DRIVING STRAIT .GOT TO DESTINATION AND HAD TO BACK INTO A DIFFICULT AREA WHERE MAKING FULL TURNS RIGHT AND LEFT WERE NECESSARY. TURNING FROM ONE COMPLETE TURN TO THE NEXT TOOK A LOT OF FORCE TO GET STEERING WHEEL TO START BACK THE OTHER WAY. MADE IT BACK HOME JUST 3 TO 4 MILES WAS NO PROBLEM. NEXT MORNING WHILE BACKING INTO PARKING AREA HAD WHEEL TURNED ALL THE WAY TO RIGHT IT WOULD NOT COME BACK AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN I-55, TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER ON A TRIP FROM ST. LOUIS, MO TO GULF SHORES, AL, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAD BEEN DRIVING MULTIPLE HOURS IN THE RAIN WHEN IN JACKSON, MS, I HAD TO LET OFF THE GAS TO ALLOW OTHER VEHICLES TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I RE-APPLIED THE GAS, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE SPEED AND DROP FROM AROUND 60MPH TO 35MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. AFTER LETTING OFF AND RE-APPLYING GAS ABOUT THREE TIMES THE VEHICLE FINALLY RECOVERED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY. LUCKILY THE OTHER DRIVERS ON THE HIGHWAY WERE ABLE TO AVOID ME AND I WAS NOT REAR-ENDED OR OTHERWISE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
