I WAS READING ON LINE ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE FORD F-150 ECO BOOST ENGINE AND REALIZE THAT THIS HAS HAPPEN TO ME SEVERAL TIMES AND SCARE THE [XXX] OUT OF ME. NOT REALIZING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK. AS A MATTER OF FACT WHEN I TRY TO USE THE PASSING GEAR TO PASS THE TRUCK FELL ON IT FACE. I WOULD LIKE THIS TO GO ON A REPORT OF ENGINES LOSING POWER DURING HARD ACCELERATION SUCH AS WHEN PASSING. NEWER FORD F150'S ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST RACK AND PINION STEERING WHICH HAS PROBLEMS WITH POPPING OVER BUMPS OR ROUGH TERRAIN. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCURRING TO A LOT OF OWNERS WITH THE EPAS STEERING( F150 FORUM MEMBERS OVER 600 POSTS ON THE TOPIC AND 57,000 VIEWS. MINE IS AFFECTED AS WELL. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK INTO TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS WITH NO RESOLVE. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ISOLATED TO THE EPAS STEERING RACK. THE STEERING FEELS VERY LOOSE AND SLOPPY. TRAVELING OVER SMALL BUMPS OR ROUGH TERRAIN RESULTS IN POPPING, KNOCKING IN THE STEERING LINKAGE. WHEN OFF ROAD, THE KNOCKING IS MORE PRONOUNCED AND THE STEERING FEELS LIKE YOU COULD LOSE CONTROL. DESPITE NUMEROUS CALLS TO FORD BY F150 OWNERS, NO RECALLS OR TSB'S HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THIS IS A ON GOING PROBLEM THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT AND HAVE NO FIX FOR, AND IT WILL END UP KILLING SOMEONE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE. IT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR MERGING ON TO TRAFFIC THE TRUCK BOGGS DOWN AND LOSES ALL POWER MANY TIMES I ALMOST GOT KILLED HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD SO I WOULD NOT KILL THE FAMILY. THE KEEP COMING OUT WITH FIXES BUT NOTHING WORKS INCLUDING THE LAST ONE WHERE THEY PUT A DEFLECTOR PLATE ON THE INTERCOOLER. I CAN NOT BELIEVE FORD KEEPS PUTTING OUT TRUCKS WHEN THEY KNOW OF THIS. *TR
MY COMPLAINT IS THAT FORD HAS A GOVERNOR ON THE ENGINE THAT ONLY ALLOWS THE VEHICLE TO REACH APPROXIMATELY 89 MPH. YET THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATES 120 MPH AND NO INDICATIONS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT THE ENGINE HAS A GOVERNOR AND TOP SPEED IS 89 MPH. I BELIEVE FORD IS MAKING A MISREPRESENTATION AND FALSE ADVERTISING TO THE PUBLIC. FORD HAS STATED TO ME THE REASON FOR THIS IS TO NOT EXCEED TIRE RATING SPEED. HOWEVER MY TRUCK CAME WITH 113 MPH SPEED RATED TIRES. FORD ALSO ADMITS THAT THERE IS NO INDICATION OR MENTION OF THE GOVERNED SPEED. I DON'T HAVE A NEED TO GO BEYOND THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OR WANT TO GO 120MPH. THAT BEING SAID , I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 81 POSTED SPEED 70 I WAS DOING ABOUT 73-75 MPH IN THE RIGHT LANE, ALONG SIDE OF ME IN THE LEFT LANE WAS A DODGE TRUCK WITH A TRAILER DOING APPROXIMATELY 75-80 MPH AND A TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND HIM ON HIS BUMPER. THE TRACTOR TRAILER ABRUPTLY PULLED BEHIND ME AND SLIGHTLY AHEAD ANOTHER TRACTOR TRAILER STARTED TO PULL FROM THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD ONTO THE HIGHWAY. MY CHOICES - SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND HOPE A LOADED TRACTOR TRAILER 4' OFF MY BUMPER CAN ALSO STOP, ACCELERATE AND PULL IN FRONT OF THE DODGE TRUCK. I CHOSE THE LATTER AND JUST IMAGINE MY SURPRISE JUST AS I CLEARED THE DODGE AND STARTED TO PULL INTO THE LANE IN FRONT OF THE DODGE MY TRUCK ENGINE STALLED AT 89 MPH. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE I COULD HAVE DONE IN THIS SITUATION, BUT NOT KNOWING THAT FORD HAD THE ENGINE GOVERNED ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. PROBABILITY OF THIS SAME THING HAPPENING AGAIN, I DON'T KNOW. BUT THE POINT OF THIS IS THAT FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL ALL THESE VEHICLES AND REMOVE THE GOVERNOR OR CHANGE THE SPEEDOMETER TO REFLECT THE TOP SPEED AS 89MPH. NOT LET THE CONSUMER BELIEVE THEY ARE BUYING A VEHICLE THAT WILL DO 120MPH BUT CONCEAL THE FACT THAT IT WILL DO ONLY 89MPH. AFTER ALL IT'S NOT FORD'S PLACE TO ENFORCE SPEED LIMITS. *TR
VEHICLE "SHUDDERS" OR "BUCKS" SLIGHTLY UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION FROM 55 MPH ON UP. FOR A $45,000 VEHICLE AND NO FIX YET THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED INDEPENDENT SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAGERSTOWN FORD IN HAGERSTOWN, MD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE STILL RECURRED, BUT NOT AS OFTEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,125.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR FAILED TO RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. ADDITIONALLY, AN ERROR CODE (P0036) AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO OPERATE NORMALLY WHEN DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 12/2011 WITH 19,800 MILES ON IT (IT WAS MANF. 12/2010, SOLD IN ORLANDO,FL IN 01/2011 AND TRADED IN 10/2011 AND WAS USED AS A RENTAL TRUCK) AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED (CPO) FROM MAROONE FORD MARGATE FL. THERE WAS A PROBLEM THAT WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED <5MPH THE SHIFT BETWEEN 1-2 WOULD SOMETIMES BE REAL HARD (ENGINE @ 3000RPM+) SO THIS DEALER CHECKED AND 'FIXED' IT WITH GREASING THE 2 PART DRIVE SHAFT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WRONG GREASE WAS USED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT AND NEEDED TO USE A NEW GREASE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AROUND THE END OF 2012(AROUND 35K MILES) AND MAROONE FORD MIAMI 'FIXED' IT AGAIN BY GREASING THE DRIVE SHAFT. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN (8/2013) AND THIS TIME THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT STILL HAPPENS AND I AM GOING TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP THAT IS NOT MAROONE/AUTONATION AND SEE IF THEY CAN 'FIX' MY PROBLEM. ALSO I AM READING THAT NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE LIGHTS RAPID FLASHING BUT NOT THE PASS SIDE OR WHEN THE HAZARDS ARE ON SO I GOOGLED AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) AND THAT I HAVE FOUND IS BEHIND THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SEATS ON A SUPER CREW. THE DEALERSHIP (MAROONE/AUTONATION) HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING TO CHECK IF MY VEHICLE WAS ON A RECALL AS FAR AS I KNOW AND NOW I HAVE TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND ALSO BRING THIS UP (AND I DOUBT THEY WOULD EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT EITHER). I WAS TOLD BY MAROONE/AUTONATION THAT IF ANYTHING IS FOUND TO LET THEM KNOW. WHAT? I HAVE TO PAY TO LET THEIR TECHS KNOW THEIR JOB? FORD SHOULD NEVER HAVE DONE A 2 PIECE DRIVER SHAFT WITH A SLIP YOKE OR QUIT WITH THINGS LIKE THE MECHANICAL FLASHER RELAYS EVEN WITH PWM/CANBUS. THIS NOW BECOMES EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO GO OUT AND BUY A NEW VEHICLE. NEXT TIME WILL BE A TOYOTA BECAUSE THEY ARE DRIVEN IN THE DESERTS AROUND THE WORLD, NOT FORDS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES WHEN THE HORN SOUNDED AND THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE ENGINE. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE FIRE. THE POLICE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE AT THE AID OF THE CONTACT. THE FIRE AND POLICE BOTH ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LATER CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 7,000.
POPPING RATTLING KNOCKING FELT IN STEERING WHEEL. STARTED WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS THEN PROGRESSED INTO DRIVING NORMAL. CONSTANT STEERING WHEEL POPPING AND RATTLING. FEELS LIKE STEERING IS COMING APART. DEALERSHIP VERIFIED COMPLAINT. THEY HAVE INSTALLED 2 DIFFERENT EAPS STEERING RACK AND 1 INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST... *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED YOU COULD NOT INCREASE IN SPEED. THE ENGINE WOULD ONLY SHUTTER UNTIL I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES, AT THREE DIFFERENT TIME IT PUT ME IN DANGER WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO INCREASE SPEED TO GET OUT OF DANGER ONLY COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE SIDE OFF A BUSY INTERSTATE. I FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM FORD AND THEY INSTALLED THE NEW VAIN IN THE TURBO. THIS HELPED THE PROBLEM BUT IT REALLY HURT THE FUEL MILEAGE AFTER THAT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO GENERATE ANY FAILURE CODES FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,200.
THERE IS A POPPING AND JOLTING MECHANICAL FEEL FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END OF THE TRUCK. IT FEELS LIKE THE FRONT END OR STEERING SHAFT IS LITERALLY ABOUT TO COME APART. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AT NORMAL SPEEDS AT ANY SPEED ON STRAIGHT ROADS THAT ARE PAVED NORMALLY WITHOUT DEFECT. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WORSE THE HIGHER THE TEMPERATURE IS OUTSIDE. IT FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK IS LOOSE. I THOUGHT THE TIRE WAS LOOSE - IT WASN'T. *TR
UPON TRYING TO PASS A TRUCK, WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS FOR ADDED POWER, THE ENGINE CONVULSED AND SHOOK THE ENTIRE TRUCK, LOST POWER, ENGINE LIGHT FLICKERED... I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY, CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY DID A CHECK THROUGH ON STAR (TYPE SYSTEM). SAID THEY SAW NOTHING?! STARTED BACK UP, SEEMED TO BE FINE ONCE AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED NOW MULTIPLE TIMES. ALWAYS WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS FOR ADDED POWER, SAME SCENARIO. THIS IS THE ECO BOOST ENGINE. WHILE I LOVE THE POWER, IT HAS FAILED ME 5 TIMES TO DATE. SAME PROBLEM AS THE PE 13-018 REPORT. *TR
I FEEL A HEAVY TAPPING IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. THIS CONDITION GETS WORSE WITH WARMER WEATHER. 78 TO 100 DEGREES. *TR
2011 FORD F 150 WITH ECO BOOST. WHEN I ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT, BOGS DOWN, LOOSES POWER AND SHUTTERS. I HAVE TAKEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. I RECENTLY TOOK IT BACK IN AND HEY CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS WHICH HELPED A LITTLE HOWEVER STILL REALLY ROUGH. I AM THINKING OF FILING. LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD. I HAVE TIED TO TRADE OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND I'M UPSIDE DOWN BECAUSE OF BAD PUBLICITY I'M BEING TOLD. I THOUGHT I HAD. LEMON BUT I GUESS IT'S ALL THE ENGINES. *TR
THIS TRUCK HAS THE 3.5 LITER V6 ECOBOOST ENGINE. THE TRUCK IS COMPANY OWNED BY WL HALL CO. I WAS ACCELERATING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER THEN STARTED TO SHAKE, SHUDDER AND JERK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE STARTED TO RUN VERY ROUGHLY. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 9,700 MILES, 28,000 MILES AND 60,000 MILES. FORD HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE ISSUE THREE TIMES. THE TRUCK WILL BE GOING IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS ISSUE A FOURTH TIME. DUE TO IMPROPER PERFORMANCE, THIS ISSUE ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT THIS LAST TIME. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE WHERE IT DID NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND DROPPED POWER, BUT THEN THE VEHICLE CORRECTED ITSELF. *TR
THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING TO HAVE TO EXPERIENCE SO SOON WITH A BRAND NEW TRUCK. THE LOCATION OF THIS WIRING HARNESS IS IN AN AREA THAT UNLESS YOU HAVE SIDE STEPS AND MAYBE EVEN THEN, IS NOT PROTECTED. EVEN THEN THE WAY THE WIRING HARNESS COMES OUT FROM WITHIN THE WHEEL WALL MAKES NO SENSE. I'M ATTACHING A FEW PICTURES SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT OCCURRED. LUCKILY, SOMEONE SAW THE WIRE DRAGGING AND TOLD ME BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE. I PUT UP THE HARNESS AND TAPED IT TO HOLD IT UP. THIS COULD HAVE HAD A HORRIBLE OUTCOME HAD THE WIRES CONTINUED TO SHRED OR MAKE CONTACT WITH ONE ANOTHER.
KNOCKING FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. GETS WORSE AS OUTSIDE TEMPS GET ABOVE 80 DEGREES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND BEGAN TO SHAKE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE INTERCOOLER NEEDED A SHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT COMES ON WHEN REVERSING WITH WHEEL FULLY TURNED, SLIGHT GRINDING NOISE HEARD. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND TOLD NOT A CONCERN -- THE NEW SYSTEMS "DO THAT". MENTIONED AT NEXT SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG. NOISE GETS INTERMITTENTLY WORSE, BUT DEALERSHIP IS "UNABLE TO REPLICATE PROBLEM" BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRES IN MARCH 2014. IN JULY 2014 (26,000 MILES), THE SAT LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER THE WHEEL IS FULLY TURNED IN FORWARD, REVERSE, AND PARK, AND A LOUD GRINDING METAL ON METAL SOUND OCCURS. THE DEALERSHIP COULD HEAR IT THIS TIME AND DIAGNOSED STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY FAILURE. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STATED ON JULY 18, 2014 THAT THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT INDICATES THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE INJURIES OR DEATHS OCCUR DUE TO STEERING FAILURE. *TR
SIX MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT MY TRUCK I NOTICED A SHUTTERING AND HESITATION WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SHUTTERING HAPPENS WHEN I AM CRUISING AT 55-60 MPH. MORE NOTICEABLY WHEN THE TRUCK IS CLIMBING A SLIGHT INCLINE ON THE ROAD WHILE LIGHTLY ACCELERATING TO MAINTAIN 60 MPH. I HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT IT 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE COMPUTER. IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. BROUGHT IT BACK THE SECOND TIME AND I WENT FOR A RIDE WITH THE TECHNICIAN AND HE NOTICED THE SHUTTERING. HE SAID THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT AND NO CODES TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. FINALLY THE THIRD TIME THEY SAID FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THERE ENGINEERS ARE TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP AND THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED SO HARD I THOUGHT I GOT REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. *TR
THE VEHICLE JUST DOESN'T ACCELERATE WITHOUT HESITATING. *TR
TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE MISFIRED, STARTED WITH EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AND STARTED DECELERATING. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RECOVER AND HAD TO COAST TO SHOULDER AND TURN OFF ENGINE. DURING DECELERATION, TRIED TO ADD THROTTLE SEVERAL TIMES THROUGH ALL SPEED RANGES, BUT VIBRATION WAS EXCESSIVE AND NO ACCELERATION WAS ACHIEVED. *KB
WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO BRING MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER TWICE TO HAVE THIS RECALL DONE . ONE TIME FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT AND ORDER PARTS . AND THE 2ND TIME FOR THEM TO PUT THE PART ON . THEY SHOULD HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK TO FIX RECALLS . MY TIME IS MONEY . RECALL 11C21 FORD . OR NHTSA RECALL 11V-582. *TR
MY FAMILY HAS PURCHASED AN NEW 2011 FORD F150 TRUCK AND NOTICED A NON-STOP ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. I FIRST NOTICED THE GASOLINE SMELL DURING A ROAD TRIP FROM CHARLOTTE NC TO MICHIGAN DURING THE HOLIDAYS IN DECEMBER 2011. THE SMELL IS STILL NOTICEABLE WITH THE HEAT OFF WITH THE VENTS CLOSED. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE TO SEE IF OTHER OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH GAS SMELL IN THE CAB. THESE COMPLAINTS APPEARED TO BE ON OLDER MODELS (2007, ETC.). I WOULD LIKE TO OBTAIN INFORMATION IF THERE IS A RECALL IN EFFECT FOR THIS PROBLEM. SOMEONE IN THE FORD COMPANY HAS TO BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED! *TR
3.5 LITER ECOBOOST MOTORS SPUTTERED UNDER ACCELERATION ON HILL AND HAS DONE THIS SINCE BOUGHT. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING AT 40 MPH, I ACCELERATED TO ENTER A HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AND THEN BOGGED GOING INTO WHAT IS CALLED "LIMP MODE". THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND MISFIRE CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO DECELERATE RAPIDLY. THIS ACTION NEARLY CAUSED A REAR END COLLISION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. F150 ECOBOOST WHILE GOING DOWN A SLIGHT GRADE AT ABOUT 50 MPH IN DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SHIFTED DOWN A COUPLE OF GEARS THEREBY CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV UP TO OVER 3,500 RPM. AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED BACK UP ONE STEP AT A TIME TO THE 6TH GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST TWICE ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ANOTHER ANOMALY HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. WHILE SLOWING DOWN SLIGHTLY THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY 'CLUNKS' AND IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING HAS RUN INTO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. IT'S LIKE A HARD SHIFT INTO A HIGHER GEAR, HOWEVER THE TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO BE 6TH AND THE SPEED IS AROUND 60 MPH.. *TR

THE ECOBOOST VERSION THAT I OWN HAS AN APPARENTLY "KNOWN" PROBLEM WITHIN FORD WHERE CONDENSATION BUILDS UP BECAUSE OF THE TURBOCHARGER INTERCOOLER TO THE POINT THAT WHEN YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE HEAVILY TO AVOID A PROBLEM, TO PASS SOMEONE, OR SIMPLY TO GET ON A BUSY STREET OR FREEWAY, THE TRUCK SUCKS ALL THAT WATER INTO THE ENGINE AND IT COMPLETELY MISFIRES SIMILAR TO JUST RUNNING OUT OF GAS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT CAN EASILY CAUSE AND ALMOST HAS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED FIRST AT ABOUT 700 MILES AND HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE ESPECIALLY IN HIGH HUMIDITY. FROM THE TIME I LEASED MY 2011 F-150 THERE HAS BEEN CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION JUMPING OR SURGING, ALMOST LIKE SOMETHING IMPACTED THE TRUCK FROM THE REAR. LOUD BANG AND WHAT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTING. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY TRUCK SERVICED AT ONE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG, FINALLY IN 2017, AFTER PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR ATTEMPTS AT REPAIR, DID THE DEALERSHIP REALIZE THAT IT WAS A RECALL ISSUE. THE TRUCK HAS DEVELOPED A ROUGH IDLE THAT CAUSES THE TRUCK TO FEEL AS IF IT IS MISSING. ALONG WITH THE IDLE THE FUEL ECONOMY HAS DROPPED 4-5 MPG. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN 3 TIMES AND 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WHILE IN SERVICE DIAGNOSICS THE TECHS WHERE ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK TO MISFIRE TWICE BUT THEY FELT THAT IT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO BE SIGNIFCANT. I HAVE A LIFE TIME MAINTENANCE PROGRAM ON THE TRUCK AND THE TIRES HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND ROTATED AT APPROXIMATELY EVERY 4400 MILES. WITH 18,500 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND TIRES, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25MPH ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW. IT HAD A CLEAN TEAR FROM RIM TO TREAD. THE TRUCK HAS LOW TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING AND I HAD NO WARNING OF LOW PRESSURE SO I KNOW THE TIRE WAS NOT HEATING UP FROM LOW PRESSURE. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING ON THE STREET ( IT IS A SIX LANE DIVIDED, WELL TRAVELED STREET) AND SUDDENLY WITH A LOUD BANG THE TIRE WENT DOWN. NO HELP FROM THE FORD DEALER ON THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A FORD 2011 FX4 ECOBOOST. WHOLE TRUCK STARTED SHUDDERING AS I WAS GETTING ONTO THE SOUTHWEST FREEWAY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND VEHICLE HAD LOSS OF POWER. WAS ABLE TO COAST AND DRIVE SLOW TO THE NEXT EXIT WHERE I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME (SHUDDERING AND LOSS OF POWER) AGAIN AT 30K MILES 3/4/2013 WHERE THIS TIME THEY REPLACED A IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUG. AND A THIRD TIME AT 34K MILES 4/27/2013 AND IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP TODAY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN YOU CANNOT GET THE TRUCK TO DRIVE WITHOUT SHUDDERING AND JERKING ANYTIME YOU GIVE IT GAS.
