TAILGATE STEP HINGE NEEDS TO HAVE SLIP RESISTANT SPRAY OR MATERIAL ON IT. THE STEP HAS SLIP RESISTANT MATERIAL, BUT WHEN STEPPING DOWN, IF THE BALL OF YOUR FOOT LANDS ON THE HINGE YOU CAN SLIDE OFF THE STEP RESULTING IN SEVERE INJURY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO ANOTHER GEAR, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL ON THE HIGHWAY. ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
WHILE TRYING TO TURN INTO TRAFFIC LOST ALL POWER TO ACCELERATE AND STAYED IN FIRST GEAR. WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE DROPS INTO LOWER GEARS WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I STOPED DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DUE TO MY FAMILY'S SAFETY BEING JEOPARDIZED. I DROPPED THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED IT IS DUE TO A LEAD ASSEMBLY TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE REPAIRS WOULD BE OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS. WHILE RESEARCHING I HAVE NOTICED MULTIPLE F-150 WITH MY EGINE (3.5 ECOBOOST ) HAVE HAD THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS INFORMED BY FORD TO CONTACT YOU AND REPORT THE ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AT 3 MPH, THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER STRUCK A POLE. THE DRIVER SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. THE DRIVER THEN SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. ON THE WAY TO THE CONTACT'S HOME, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME FULLY DEPRESSED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
LACK OF STEERING WHEEL RETURNABILITY TO CENTER LINE ON LEFT HAND TURNS. WHEN MAKING A SLIGHT LEFT HAND CURVE OVER 45 MPH IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO RETURN TO CENTERLINE. FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB 11-08-18 FOR TRUCKS BUILD BEFORE 7/11/11 FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE I AM HAVING. MY 2012 F150 HAS 39,000 MILES AT THIS TIME AND IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE!
A BUSHING RESPONSIBLE FOR HOLDING THE SHIFTER CABLE IN THE TRANSMISSION DETACHED. THE TRANSMISSION ENDS UP IN A DIFFERENT GEAR THAN WHAT THE DRIVER SEES ON THE SHIFT CONSOLE. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU MIGHT PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND THE DASHBOARD WOULD SHOW PARK, BUT THE CAR WOULD STILL BE IN GEAR. 2012 FORD F150 --> SAME EXACT ISSUE REPAIRED ON 4/24/2017. THERE IS A RECALL FROM FORD TODAY AND IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE F150. YET EXPERIENCED SAME EXACT ISSUE AND REPAIR ON 2012 F150 OVER 1 YEAR AGO. F150 AT THE TIME ONLY 57,500 MILES AND 4.5YEARS OLD.
MY FORD DEALER TOLD ME MY ALL OF MY LUG NUTS NEED TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE THEY ARE WORN OUT AND DANGEROUS! MY DEALER SAID THE OLD LUGS CAN NOT BE REMOVED SO THEY CAN ROTATE MY TIRES. MY TRUCK IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. I NEED A RECALL ORDER!
POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT AT HIGHWAY AND SLOWER SPEEDS IN TURNS, WITHOUT NOTICE CAUSING NEAR ACCIDENTS. NO NOISE INVOLVED. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS STEERING IS NOW ALWAYS STIFF AND BARELY OPERABLE.
I WAS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 60MPH, WHEN MY TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED FROM 6-1, LOCKING UP THE REAR TIRES. THIS CAUSE THE SEMI PULLING A LOAD TO HAVE TO SWERVE TO AVOID ME.. ANOTHER INSTANCE, I WAS PULLING OUT IN A BUSY INTERSECTION AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO 5TH GEAR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NEARLY STALL, RESULTING IN 3 VEHICLES SLAMMING ON BRAKES TO AVOID ME. FORD IS DENYING ME COVERAGE OF A RECALL ISSUED DUE TO ME 2012 F150 BEING OUTSIDE OF THE SPECIFIED PRODUCTION DATES WITH A PRODUCTION DATE OF 7/12. ECOBOOST ENGINE IN THIS MODEL IS KNOWN TO HAVE FUNCTIONING PROBLEMS WHEN IT WARMS UP AND YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE TRUCK WILL START TO LOSE POWER AND ALMOST FEEL LIKE IT WILL STALL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD AND WELL DESCRIBED ON MANY AUTO FORUMS ON THE WEB. I TOOK MY TRUCK IN AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR A "FIX". THIS IS A DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WHICH FORD EVEN HAS AS AN INTERNAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT. I HAVE NEVER BEEN CHARGED BY ANY OTHER AUTO COMPANY WHEN THEY COME OUT WITH A SERVICE BULLETIN EXCEPT FOR THIS COMPANY. MORE IMPORTANTLY I HAD TO EXPLAIN WHAT IS ON THE WEB ABOUT THIS TO THE SERVICE TECH AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP--LIKE A PATIENT EXPLAINING TO HIS SURGEON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND HOW TO OPERATE ON HIM TO FIX IT---VERY ODD AND CONCERNING. EITHER WAY, IT IS VERY POSSIBLE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY---AND MAYBE IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED. MY SON PRIMARILY DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND HAS BEEN MENTIONING IT TO ME FOR MONTHS. I PASSED IT OFF AS BAD GAS OR THE WAY HE WAS DRIVING. WE HAD TAKEN IT TO A FIRESTONE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY RECOMMENDED WE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER .
THE AUDIO SYSTEM HAS STOPPED WORKING IN THE TRUCK I OWN. THE DASH TIME FLASHES BUT NONE OF THE DIALS WORK. THIS OCCURS WHEN IT IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, AUTOMATICALLY THE 6TH GEAR SHIFTED TO THE 1ST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CHANGED THE GEAR TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE THE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL. WHEN I START THE TRUCK THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK STALLS AND LOOSES POWER AND THE TOOL SIGN COMES ON IN READ OUT WINDOW. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THIS HAPPENS EVERY 100 YARDS OR SO. I UNDER STAND THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE 2012 F150 FORD TRUCKS. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE WANT HAVE A RECALL. I UNDERSTAND THEY NEED TO ADD A DEFLECTOR SHIELD UNDER THE MOTOR. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS WHEN A VEHICLE LOOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
MY 2012 F150 ECOBOOST 3.5 STUDDERS SEVERELY, HESITATES, AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN TRYING TO PASS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER HAS BULLETINS ADDRESSING THIS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD MULTIPLE REPAIRS THAT NOW ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY INCLUDING CAC COOLER DEFLECTOR, SPARK PLUGS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, CAM PHASERS, TIMING BELT, AND MANY OTHERS. THE TRUCK STARTED THIS PROBLEM AND MAY NOW REQUIRE THE TURBOS BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MOTOR AND FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED IN FOURTH GEAR, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO FIFTH GEAR AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
THE TRUCK DISPLAYED A SERVICE ADVANCETRAC ERROR, PARTIALLY DISABLING THE TURN SIGNALS WHILE DRIVING A 2012 FORD F-150 WITH 64,000 MILES ON IT. FORD HAS DIAGNOSED A FAILED POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT FAILURE OF THE RACK AND PINION CAN RESULT IN FAILURE OF A DRIVER'S ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY DURING TURNS. PART IS APPARENTLY FAILING EARLY.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR WHILE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT AROUND 50 MPH, WITHOUT ANY DRIVER INPUT. TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET, LEVEL AND DRY CONDITIONS. WHEELS LOCKED UP AND VEHICLE STOPPED. VEHICLE STAYED IN FIRST GEAR FOR AWHILE AND THEN BEGAN DRIVING NORMALLY FOR A FEW HUNDRED YARDS AND THEN THE PROBLEM REPEATED .
SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE GOING DOWN INTERSTATE. SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION X 3
UPON FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE AND PUTTING IT INTO REVERSE, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD/STIFF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CONTINUE IN REVERSE, EVEN WHEN INCREASING THE EFFORT IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. AT THIS TIME, A LOUD GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD AS THE VEHICLE FAILS TO STOP AND CONTINUES TO SLIDE BACKWARDS DOWN THE DRIVEWAY OR PARKING LOT. THIS HAPPENS IN THE MORNING WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK, AS WELL AS WHEN I LEAVE THE WORK PARKING LOT. I LIVE IN A SUBURB SURROUNDED BY YOUNG KIDS AND PEOPLE OUT WALKING THEIR DOGS IN THE MORNING. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR ME TO BACK MY VEHICLE OUT OF MY GARAGE NOT KNOWING IF THERE IS TRAFFIC OR PEDESTRIANS UNTIL I AM COMPLETELY OUTSIDE THE GARAGE, AT WHICH TIME IT IS TOO LATE TO STOP THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE MALFUNCTION WHERE THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO SLIDE EVEN AFTER I PUSH THE BRAKES AS HARD AS POSSIBLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE TRUCK FROM REVERSING. WHEN INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM, I DISCOVERED THERE HAS BEEN A REPORTED PROBLEM WITH 2011-2012 FORD F-150 PICKUP TRUCKS WITH THE ISSUE AS THE 'BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FAILURE'. WHEN CONTACTING SEVERAL FORD DEALERS, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE INFORMED THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL, BUT THE RECALL WAS NOT SPECIFIC TO OUR VIN NUMBER AS IT WAS MADE IN A DIFFERENT AREA; THEREFORE, THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR IT. ONE FORD DEALER ASSOCIATE WAS VERY RUDE ABOUT OUR SITUATION AS WELL. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE FEARFUL EVERY MORNING I LEAVE FOR WORK THAT A SMALL CHILD MAY BE CROSSING THE SIDEWALK BY MY DRIVEWAY WHEN MY VEHICLE'S BRAKES MALFUNCTION, AND NEITHER SHOULD ANYONE ELSE WHO IS HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS BUT CANNOT RECEIVE THE REPAIRS DUE TO HAVING THE INCORRECT VIN NUMBER, SIMPLY BECAUSE OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT AT THE SAME LOCATION AS THE OTHERS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,853. UPDATED 08/24/17*LJ *CN
MY TRUCK IS A 2012 PLATINUM MODEL WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST MOTOR. MOTOR FAILED AT 60K MILES DUE TO HEAD GASKET LEAK AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER I AM NOW DEALING WITH A "SERVICE ADVANCETRAK" MESSAGE AND STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKING UP COMPLETELY WHILE TRYING TO MAKE RIGHT HAND TURNS. VEHICLE IS VERY FRIGHTENING TO DRIVE AND HAS PULLED ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC 2 TIMES. DEALER IS SAYING THE TRUCK NEEDS A NEW STEERING RACK AND $2K TO FIX.
TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, CAUSING REAR WHEELS TO LOCK UP. TRUCK STARTED TO SPIN AROUND BEFORE STOPPING ABRUPTLY IN THE ROADWAY. FORD DIAGNOSED AS BAD PART IN TRANSMISSION THAT WAS RECALLED IN SOME VEHICLES, BUT NOT MINE. WTF?
I DRIVE ALONG AND MY SEATBELT JUST UNLATCHES. I PUT IT BACK IN THE RECIEVER BUCKLE IT CLICKS I TUG ON IT AND ITS LATCHED......I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD.....EVENTUALLY IT UNLATCHES AGAIN. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. WITH A PART THAT DOESNT APPEAR TO BE DAMAGED, AND APPEARS TO WORK BUT ISN'T. I DONT REALLY WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH THE SAME PART.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES PER HOUR, THE SUNROOF ON MY TRUCK EXPLODED. NO SOUNDS OF ANYTHING STRIKING THE WINDOW WERE HEARD, JUST A LOUD POP WHEN IT GAVE WAY.
ALREADY HAD TIMING BELT REPLACED AT 84,000 MILES. NOW AT 85,600 MILES I WAS ON RAMP MERGING ONTO HWY. WHEN A BLINKING ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, LOSS OF POWER, AND TRUCK SHOOK LIKE CRAZY. I FELT LIKE IT WAS A POLTERGEIST. TOOK NEXT EXIT OFF AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND TRUCK ACTED NORMALLY AGAIN. DAMP CONDITIONS. NOT LIKING ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ AND CERTAINLY NOT LIKING THE SPORATIC UNKNOWN. I THINK I'LL BE TRADING THIS $50,000 LARIAT IN FOR SOMETHING ELSE. FORD NEEDS TO REACT, THAT WAS A SCARY SITUATION ON THE FREEWAY WITH TRUCKS BEARING DOWN ON ME.

TOO MANY TIMES WHEN DRIVING BACK FROM MY FAMILIES HOME IN PA, I ENCOUNTER DANGEROUS CONDITIONS ON THE ROAD WITH REGARD TO LARGE DUMP TRUCKS THAT CARRY STONE. THIS MORNING IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WHEN I PASSED A SAID TRUCK, ROCKS CAME OUT OF THE TOP OF THE BED, HITTING MY HOOD AND WINDSHIELD IN SEVERAL AREAS. IT GOES WITHOUT SAY HOW DANGEROUS THIS MATTER CAN BECOME. THE SITUATION IS EVEN WORST, IF YOUR PASSING WHEN THE ROAD IN BUMPY. I TRAVEL EAST FROM PA, ROUTE 15, ROUTE 206, ROUTE 80, ROUTE 46 AND ROUTE 3. I HAD TO REPLACE WINDSHIELDS BEFORE, BECAUSE OF ROCKS FLYING OFF OF DUMP TRUCKS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY ON 3/19/17 AND THE TRUCK STARTING JERKING THEN THE TACH AND THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED BOUNCING THEN IT STARTED TO SHIFT FROM 6TH TO 2ND THEN TO 5TH BACK TO 2ND AND SO ON. PULLED OVER TURNED IT OFF TO SEE IF THE COMPUTER WOULD RESET THEN DROVE DOWN THE RODE AND AROUND 50MPH IT THROW ITSELF INTO PARK, THEN IT SHIFTED BACK INTO GEAR AND STARTED THE SAME THING OVER. TOOK TO DEALER THEY SO CALLED "FIXED IT" SAYING IT WAS LOW VOLTAGE PROBLEM CAUSED BY ALTERNATOR AND BAD BATTERY GOT TRUCK BACK 3/14/17, BUT THIS MORNING 3/15/17 IT MESSED UP SEE PIC WAS GOING 30MPH NOTICE THE SPEEDOMETER AND IT DOWNSHIFTED HARD ONCE FROM 6TH TO 4TH. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME ITS SOMETHING TO O WITH THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER SO I SPENT OVER $900 FOR NOTHING AND HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER $1200+ FOR SOMETHING THEY NOT SURE WHAT IT IS..... THE MAIN ISSUE IS WHAT IF I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT WENT INTO PARK.
3/7/2017 20 MINUTE DRIVE HOME, SHUT TRUCK OFF TO RUN INSIDE HOUSE CAMEOUT TO RUN ERRAND TO PHARMACY AND UPON STARTING TRUCK AFTER PHARMACY SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC SHOWED UP IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, THIS HAS ALSO CAUSED MY TURN SIGNALS NOT TO WORK. THIS TRUCK HAS HAD A FAULTY TOURQUE CONVERTOR, REAR WINDOW REPLACEMENT DUE TO BREAK IN REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. BOUGHT TRUCK LESS THAN A YEAR AGO WITH 28K MILES ON IT. I NOW HAVE 37K AND MY SERVICE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I BROUGHT IT IN TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK. $1754.00! WHEN I BOUGHT THE USED, VERY LOW MILEAGE, ONE OWNER TRUCK I THOUGHT I STRUCK GOLD. NOT QUITE, BUT LOVE THE TRUCK OTHERWISE! A POORLY DESIGNED STEERING SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE COMMON FOR THESE. SHAME ON FORD FOR NOT OWNING UP TO THIS PROBLEM. MORE ABOUT PROFIT I GUESS.
WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS TRANSMISSION WILL SUDDENLY AND RANDOMLY LOCK IN 3RD OR 5TH GEAR AND WILL NOT DOWN OR UP SHIFT. DIFFICULT TO GET MOVING FROM A COMPLETE STOP FROM 5TH GEAR. I HEARD ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO OTHERS WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS INVESTIGATING RECALLS. SO I GO OUT AT LUNCH TO INVESTIGATE AND NOTICE SMALL SHARDS OF GLASS ON MY DAUGHTER'S CAR SEAT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM, THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SO NOW I'M STUCK WITH EATING THIS COST MYSELF. FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS.
MY VEHICLE WENT INTO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTICS/REPAIR. EACH TIME IT WAS THE ADVANCE SERVICE TRACK LIGHT COMING ON WHICH DISABLES THE TURN SIGNALS. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS IN, THEY REPLACED SENSORS. THIS THIRD TIME THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEEEING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE READ IN THE FORD F-150 FORUM THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL YEAR. SAME STORY, THE TRUCK GOES IN 3 TO 4 TIMES WITH THE SAME LIGHT AND THEY FINALLY DIAGNOSE THE TRUE ISSUE WHICH COST BETWEEN $1700-$2500. MY VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 5 YRS OLD AND ONLY 45K MILES ON IT. MY UNDERSTANDING SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE TECH AND MANAGER THIS PART OF THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT IN 5 YRS. THE STEERING RACK SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 80K MILES TO THE LIFE OF VEHICLE. ALL OF THESE INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN CLOSED WITH FORD ISSUING TSB'S, BUT DEALERS CLAIM IGNORANCE, IGNORE COPIES OF THE TSBS AND REFUSE TO PERFORM REPAIRS UNDER DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS FAILURE TO ACCELERATE ENTERING AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY HAS ALMOST COST ME TWO COLLISIONS. APPARENTLY NHTSA IS AS USEFUL ON COMPLAINTS/INVESTIGATIONS AS FCC IS ON DO NOT CALL LIST COMPLAINTS. OPENED A CASE WITH FORD, RESPONSE IS THEY CANNOT FORCE DEALERS TO PERFORM TSBS UNDER WARRANTY. ALL THREE OCCURRENCES OF THIS PROBLEM WERE AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO HOURS IN DAMP CONDITIONS UNDER HARD ACCELERATION; TWO WERE WHEN RE-ENTERING HIGHWAY FROM LEFT LANE SERVICE AREAS IN NJ AND MD. AFTER 1ST TWO TIMES A DEALER IN MD REPLACED TWO IGNITION COILS AT MY EXPENSE CLAIMING COILS WERE NOT COVERED BY DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY. MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS 1/1/18, LOCAL DEALER IN NH IGNORED FORD TSB 12-10-19 WHEN GIVEN A COPY AND SAID "THESE TRUCKS JUST BURN COILS AND SPARK PLUGS". I WAS CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AGAIN AND NOTHING WAS REPLACED/FIXED AS I REFUSED TO PAY APPROX. $600 TO REPLACE DRIVETRAIN PARTS.

I HAVE A 2012 FORD F150 ECOBOOST. RECENTLY MY FAMILY WAS OUT OF TOWN TRYING TO MAKE OUR WAY HOME WHEN MY TRUCK SHUTTERS AND LOST POWER FOR A MINUTE, FOLLOWED BY A BLINKING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THEN A SOLID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS, AND IT WOULD COST OVER $500. I WAS AMAZED BY THIS CONSIDERING THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS RECOMMENDED BY FORD TO REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AT 100,000 MILES. TO ADD TO MY AMAZEMENT, MY FAIRLY EXPENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER THIS, NOT EVEN THE COIL PACK REPLACEMENT, WHICH TO ME SEEMS LIKE A WARRANTY ISSUE CONSIDERING THEY WENT BAD SO EARLY INTO THE ENGINES LIFE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A FAULT WITH THE STEERING GEAR, AND THE ENTIRE STEERING BOX HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $1850. THE DEALER SAID IF IT HAD FAILED COMPLETELY, IT WOULD HAVE LIKELY RESULTED IN LOSS OF STEERING. CHECKING ONLINE, IT SEEMS FORD IS RECALLING OLDER VEHICLES FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT NOT TRUCKS THIS NEW, AND IS INSTEAD MAKING CUSTOMERS PAY FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT.

WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ~70 MPH, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT HOLD 6TH GEAR. IT WOULD DROP TO 5TH AND 4TH GEAR, UNTIL I GAVE IT MORE GAS. IT WOULD REACH 3500 RPM'S AT TIMES BEFORE SHIFTING WHICH WAS NOT NORMAL. I ALSO NOTICED STARTING IN THE FALL OF 2016 A SHORT LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE AT COLD START. AFTER RESEARCHING THESE ISSUES, THIS LED ME TO TSB 14-0194, CODE P0016, DEALING WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND THIS WAS THE ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER OF LESS THAN 5 YEARS AND WAS AT 75,500 MILES, OUT OF THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. I JUST HAD THE REPAIR DONE, COSTING ME $3600. THE REPAIR INCLUDED PARTS LISTED IN TSB 14-0194 AS WELL AS TIMING BELTS, ADDITIONAL GASKETS, SEALS, GUIDES, TENSIONER, CAM, SPROCKET, GEAR CRANKSHAFT, AMONG OTHERS. I QUESTION HOW THIS KNOWN ISSUE OF TIMING CHAIN STRETCH WITH THE TSB IS NOT A RECALL. THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN ACCELERATING ON TO A FREEWAY. IT CAN ALSO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BY SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTING WHILE DRIVING. I AM GLAD MY TRUCK IS FIXED, HOWEVER DID NOT LIKE THE PRICE TAG. I FEAR THAT THIS KNOWN ISSUE WILL LEAD TO A DEATHLY ACCIDENT AND IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED YET. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING, WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, I HEARD A LOUD BANG. MY DAUGHTER STARTED CRYING IN THE REAR SEAT AND ASKED ME WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BACK WINDOW.
