TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER DURING ACCELERATION AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,350.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE WOULD FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,415.
NOISY ELECTRONIC VACUUM PUMP ISSUE. AT APROX 45,000 MILES I NOTICED A NOISE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE FIRST TIME IT WOULD NOT MAKE THE NOISE. THE SECOND TIME IT MADE THE NOISE IT MADE THE NOISE. I WAS ADVISED I NEEDED A NEW VACUUM PUMP. I WAS ALSO ADVISED IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY BECAUSE MY TRUCK WAS OVER 3 YEARS OLD AND OVER 36000 MILES. HOWEVER WHILE RESEARCHING THIS MATTER I FIND THERE HAS BEEN AND ISSUE WITH THE VACUUM PUMP ON SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES. I BELIEVE SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND TAKE CARE OF ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. MY COST OF REPAIR IS $724.27
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE TRUCK WILL ONLY MOVE FORWARD WHEN THE PEDAL IS FULLY DEPRESSED. WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING THE TRUCK BARELY MOVES THEN IT WILL CATCH AND LUNGE FORWARD AT BREAK-NECK SPEED. THIS SAME THING HAPPENS AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, WILL BE ACCELERATING NORMALLY WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE RPM AND SPEED GAUGES COMPLETELY DROP THE ENGINE LOSSES ALL POWER AND IF THE PEDAL IS CONTINUED TO BE PRESSED THE TRUCK WILL LUNGE FORWARD, AGAIN AT BREAK-NECK SPEED. IN A 10 MILE TRIP IT CAN HAPPEN 3 OR 4 TIMES. TODAY WE HAD A NEW EXPERIENCE WHERE WHEN DECELERATING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE MOTOR BEGAN REVVING TO REDLINE ALL WHILE ONLY THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. ON GREEN LIGHT THE ACCELERATION AGAIN WAS LIMITED TO FULL PETAL AND A LIMP TILL BURST MODE. THESE EVENTS ALL SCARE THE FAMILY TO THE POINT OF NOT RIDING IN THE VEHICLE.
2012 F150, 5.0 V8 3 YEARS OFF LOT WHEN JULY 4TH GETS HERE IN 2015. 33000 MILES AND 4 OF THE SPARK PLUGS ARE SHOT, FORD TECH SAID GAPS ARE OFF. FROM FACTORY. O2 SENSOR ALSO SHOT. WORKING ON IT NOW, BETTER BE COVERED UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER, BECAUSE $1100.00 DOLLARS IS A LOT TO PUT INTO PRACTICALLY A BRAND NEW TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WITH THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER ENGAGED, THE DEFROST WARNING INDICATOR WAS INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED THE DEFROSTER OFF AND BACK ON, AND THE DEFROST WARNING INDICATOR WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AND THE WIRING INSIDE THE WINDOW WAS MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DEFROST WIRING SHORTED OUT WHICH CAUSED THE WINDOW TO SHATTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. UPDATED 09/10/15*LJ
ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP FAILS AND YOU LOOSE YOUR POWER BRAKES. BRAKE PETAL GETS VERY HARD WITH LITTLE OR NO BRAKING POWER TO STOP. 2012 WAS THE LAST YEAR TO USE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP TO SUPPLY POWER BRAKES AND THEN WAS REPLACED IN 2013 WITH A BELT DRIVEN VACUUM PUMP. THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE IN THE F-150 FROM 2012 AND PRIOR YEAR MDLS.
THE TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH A CAP LESS FILLER SYSTEM FOR THE FUEL FILLER. THE MECHANISM THAT CONTROLS THIS HAS FAILED LEAVING THE FUEL FILLER DOOR TO NOT CLOSE PROPERLY AND IT FLAPS IN THE BREEZE AS YOU ARE DRIVING. THIS LEAVES THE GAS LINE TO THE TANK EXPOSED AND IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE. NORMALLY FORD HAS A 36MO/ 36000 WARRANTY AND ON THIS TRUCK THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 100000 MILES BUT WHEN CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE THEY SAID THIS ISN'T COVERED AND THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE FOR REPAIRING IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED AND THEY SHOULD BE ADDRESSING IT AS THIS HAS BECOME STANDARD ON ALL OF THEIR VEHICLES.
TRUCK WAS PARKED, REAR DEFROSTER HAD BEEN ON THE HOUR LONG TRIP. PARKED AT DESTINATION, A FEW MINUTES LATER THERE IS A LOUD POP SOUND, AS IF A ROCK HAD FALLEN ON THE ROOF OF THE TRUCK. AFTER WHICH I LOOK TO INSPECT POSSIBLE DAMAGE, TO MY SURPRISE THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE TO SUSPECT ANY TYPE OF DAMAGE. I LOOKED ON THE ROOF, THE BED ON THE TRUCK AND THE SURROUNDING OF THE VEHICLE. FOUND NOTHING TO SUSPECT AND COLLISION HAD HAPPENED. I DISMISSED THE NOISE SINCE THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE. THE NEXT MORNING I START UP MY TRUCK TO GO TO WORK AND LOOK THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND FIND THE LEFT REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW IS SHATTERED COMPLETELY. I THEN BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE THE DAMAGE BY LOOKING FOR POINT OF IMPACT TO ONLY CONCLUDE THERE IS NO SUCH POINT. THE SHATTER IS A THROUGH AND THOUGH SHATTER, CLEAN SPIDER WEB LIKE SHATTER. IS THERE A FAULT IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE TEMPERED GLASS, THE HOUSING FRAME OF THE GLASS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED, MAYBE IT IS SHORT IN THE REAR DEFROST SYSTEM. HOPING THERE IS AN ANSWER TO THIS MYSTERIOUS PHENOMENA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE ENGINE MISFIRED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED BEFORE THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE THAT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PLUGS NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE DEALER ONLY CLEARED THE CODES AND DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. WHILE IN REVERSE, THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. A MECHANIC TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY STEERING NUT IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON 4/21/2015 WITH THE IMPRESSION FROM THE DEALER THAT I COULD ORDER THE TELESCOPIC STEERING WHEEL AND HAVE IT INSTALLED. I AM 6'4 AND HAVE TO SIT FARTHER BACK SO I CAN'T SAFELY REACH THE STEERING WHEEL TO DRIVE WITHOUT THE TELESCOPIC FEATURE. AFTER TALKING WITH FORD DEALERS, FORD COMPANY, AND AFTERMARKET SHOPS, FORD DOES NOT MAKE A KIT OR HAVE A WAY TO INSTALL THE TELESCOPIC FEATURE IN A TRUCK AFTER IT HAS BEEN MANUFACTURED. I AM NOT STUCK WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NOT ONLY UNCOMFORTABLE BUT UNSAFE. *TR
LOWER STEERING SHAFT IS BAD ( JUST STARTED STEERING VERY HARD )
I WAS MERGING ON TO THE EXPRESSWAY AND WENT TO MERGE AND MASHED PEDAL TO THE FLOOR THE 3.5 ECOBOOST ENGINE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND LOST POWER. I WAS ALMOST RUN OVER BY A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK. HAD THERE NOT BEEN A THIRD LANE FOR HIM TO DODGE AROUND ME I WOULDN'T BE SENDING THIS COMPLAINT, I WOULD BE DEAD. FORD HAS TO FIND A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE ROAD, THE ENGINE ON MY TRUCK STARTED SPUTTERING, THEN LOST SPEED AND POWER VERY RAPIDLY. AT THAT POINT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND THE TRUCK ALMOST STALLED. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND AVOID OTHER DRIVERS. HAD AN ONCOMING CAR BEEN TOO CLOSE, OR HAD I NOT HAD A PARKING LOT TO PULL INTO, THERE WAS A STRONG POSSIBILITY I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO A LESSER DEGREE IN THE PAST, BUT NOT TO THE EXTENT I EXPERIENCED ABOVE, NOR DID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER START BLINKING. AT THE TIME I PASSED THIS OFF AS BEING BAD GAS, MY TIRES SLIPPING OR SOME OTHER ISSUE AND THOUGHT NO MORE OF IT. AT THIS POINT I DON'T WANT OTHERS TO GET PUT INTO THE SAME SITUATION, WHICH COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE GETTING HURT. BECAUSE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO TRUCKS OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, MODEL AND ENGINE I FELT COMPELLED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
I ALSO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR AND NOT HAVING ANY BRAKES WHEN APPLIED. THE DEALER REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS TO NO AVAIL. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND THE BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AT THE END OF THE RAMP. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED BUT I AM STILL VERY CAREFUL. I WOULD LOVE TO FIND THE EXACT PROBLEM.
AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY HARD LIKE THERE WAS NO POWER ASSIST. IT ONLY HAPPENED PERIODICALLY AND I ASSUMED MY BRAKES WERE GETTING OLD. BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED AT TIMES. IT IS NOW HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP INVESTIGATION AND IT SOUNDS LIKE EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING. HAVE NOT HAD IT CHECKED OUT PROFESSIONALLY. I LOOKED AT IT AND IT APPEARS THERE IS CORROSION HAPPENING INSIDE THE PLASTIC BODY. DATES AND MILEAGE NOTED APPROXIMATE AS I DID NOT DOCUMENT IT.
NO BRAKING WHILE BACKING OUT OF GARAGE. HEARD ABS MOTOR ENGAGE WHILE PUSHING ON BRAKE PEDAL. TOOK THREE 'PUMPS' ON PEDAL FOR NORMAL BRAKING TO RETURN. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED BRAKE VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY. PROBLEM HAS RETURNED AS OF 06-24-2015.
OCCASIONALLY, UPON INITIAL STARTUP OF VEHICLE, THE POWER BRAKES WOULD FAIL TO ENGAGE, RESULTING IN EXTREME FORCE BEING NECESSARY ON BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOWLY BRING VEHICLE TO A STOP OVER SEVERAL FEET. THIS HAS RESULTED IN NEAR - HITS OF OTHER VEHICLES IN THE DRIVEWAY, BASKETBALL POLE, CAMPER, AND HOUSE. FORTUNATELY NO IMPACTS WERE RECORDED, BUT A MAJOR RISK NONETHELESS. THIS PHENOMENON DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, AND DID NOT HAPPEN 100% OF THE TIME DURING STARTUPS, BUT WHEN IT DID IT HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BE A MAJOR HAZARD.
DURING FIRST STARTUP OF THE DAY, THE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP MAKES A TERRIBLE NOISE FOR APPROX. 10 SECONDS AS IT BUILDS UP ASSIST VACUUM PRESSURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD AS A STONE WITH NO VACUUM ASSIST. THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN WITH THE PUMP ASSY. IT BECOMES CORRODED INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY, AND THE PISTON INSIDE THE CHEAP HOUSING BECOMES CORRODED AND THE PUMP WILL EVENTUALLY SEIZE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DANGEROUS ISSUE. IF THE PUMP SEIZES, THERE IS NOT ENOUGH VACUUM ASSIST COMING FROM THE ENGINE TO PROVIDE ENOUGH VACUUM PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE BOOST SYSTEM AND THE PEDAL BECOMES HARD AS A ROCK TO PRESS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY DURING FIRST STARTUP IN THE MORNING, AND START UP IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN THE VEHICLE SITS FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND VACUUM PRESSURE DEPLETES. *TR
ON MARCH 26, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN I PRESSED MY REAR DEFROST BUTTON BECAUSE MY MIRRORS HAD SOME ICE ON THEM. I STARTED TO HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A SIZZLE FROM THE BACKSEAT. I TURNED THE BUTTON OFF FOR A MINUTE OR SO AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. SECONDS LATER, THE REAR WINDOW OF MY TRUCK SHATTERED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. I CONTACTED FORD, AND SO FAR THEY ARE CLAIMING THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH I SEE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR F150S.
AUXILIARY PUMP FOR POWER BRAKES BOOST NOISY/FAILURE
I HIT THE REMOTE START ON MY TRUCK THIS MORNING AND WHEN I WALKED OUT TO MY TRUCK AND GOT IN TO HEAD TO WORK I HEARD A LOUD POP AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS AT FIRST. I LOOKED BACK AND MY BACK RIGHT REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I DON'T KNOW HOW OR WHAT HAPPENED. I JUST HEARD THE NOISE AND LOOKED AROUND AND NOTICED MY WINDOW EXPLODED. I GOT OUT TO LOOK AT IT AND WHEN I SHUT MY DOOR THE WINDOW FELL APART. *TR
ONE DAY I TURNED ON MY 2012 FORD F-150 XLT. I WENT TO GO OPEN MY GATE TO MY FRONT LAWN THEN NOTICED MY AIRBAG LIGHT ON. I TURNED OFF MY TRUCK AND TURNED IT BACK ON THEN THE LIGHT STAYED OFF. I CONTINUE TO RUN MY ERRAND THEN WHEN I GOT BACK HOME I NOTICED THAT ONCE I UNBUCKLED MY SEAT BELT AND LEFT THE TRUCK RUNNING TO OPEN MY GATE. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. THERE IS NO ERROR MESSAGE ON THE LIGHT MEANING " THE LIGHT DOESN'T NOT BLINK ON START" I HAVE CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOT A RECALL NOTICE. I CHECKED THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE ON MY DOOR PANEL AND IT SAYS 11/11. I HAVE SEEN THAT THEY ARE RECALLING VEHICLES FROM 11/06 TO 11/15. HOW IS MY VEHICLE NOT ON THEIR LIST. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN) AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED TO DETERMINE WHEN THE CONTACTS VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVER SIDE-REAR DEFROST WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. THE TRUCK HAS A CAP ON THE BED. NOW HAVE TO GET THE CAP REMOVED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. FORD SAID NO WAY TO COVER EVEN THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE. TERRIBLE SERVICE WHEN I SPENT $30K AND THEY CAN'T CHIP IN WHEN THERE IS A DEFECT. AND THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW WILL NEED TO BE REPLACE, NOT JUST THE SECTION. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 6:30 AM. I HAD MY REAR DEFROSTER ON AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD ALOUD BANG. I PULLED OVER GOT OUT LOOKED AROUND THE TRUCK TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE. I FOUND NOTHING. I GOT BACK IN THE TRUCK WENT TO BACK OUT AND NOTICE MY BACK RIGHT SIDE WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. IT WAS NOT HIT BY ANYTHING. I CALLED FORD ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ON ANY WARRANTY. THE BACK WINDOW INSTALLED IS AROUND $900.
THE ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION QUICK WORKING I WAS NOT ABLE TO STREET MY VEHICLE AT ALL I WAS LUCKY TO BE ON A STRAIGHT AWAY I'D I HAD BEEN IN A CORNER I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. *TR
STARTED TRUCK AND PULLED AWAY, PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AND NO BRAKES. AS TRUCK RUNS A FEW MINUTES THE BRAKES START WORKING. FAILED 2 DAYS NOW. FORD WANTS ABOUT $600 FOR REPLACEMENT OF VACUUM PUMP. SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ON THE REAR DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE DOORS FAILED TO OPERATE OR OPEN AS NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK WHEN THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MOUNTAIN GROVE FORD (11311 US-60 BUS, MOUNTAIN GROVE, MO 65711) ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER EACH REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.
REAR DEFROSTER ON SLIDING REAR WINDOW NOR HEATED SIDE VIEW MIRRORS WORK. SELECTION ON CLIMATE CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT LIGHT UP.
I WAS GETTING READY TO GET OUR OF MY HOUSE WITH MY SON. AND PUT THE TRUCK IN A DEAD ZONE.... IT WAS STILL RUNNING BUT POWER WAS NOT THERE!!! I PUT ON MY FLASHERS AND SAFELY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER.. THE SEMI DIRECTLY BEHIND ME MISSED ME BY INCHES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON RESIDENTIAL STREET DURING LIGHT SNOW CONDITIONS. I TURNED THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST ON AND AFTER 2 MINUTES I COULD SMELL A BURNING SMELL AND HEARD A CRACKLING/POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK SEAT AREA OF MY TRUCK CAB. I SENSED IT MAY BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE REAR DEFROST SO I SWITCHED IT OFF. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER I HEARD A LOUD BANG WHICH SOUNDED LIKE IT HIT THE ROOF OF THE CAB. IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE DROPPED A LARGE BRICK ONTO MY MOVING VEHICLE. I WAS STARTLED AND STOPPED TO CHECK IF SOMETHING HIT OR WAS THROWN AT MY TRUCK AND THEN I NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE REAR POWER SLIDING WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I FELT THE GLASS AND IT WAS HOT EVEN THOUGH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES WERE ABOUT 30 DEGREES F. THERE IS NO WAY FORD SHOULD BE LETTING THIS DEFECT GO WITHOUT A RECALL AND I AM SHOCKED THAT THE NHTSA HAS NOT PUT MORE PRESSURE ON FORD TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THIS WAS A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH USING THE REAR DEFROST UNTIL I CHECKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. MY CHILD SITS IN THAT REAR SEAT ALL THE TIME AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR NOTICES OF THE POTENTIAL FOR INJURY, FIRES, ETC. PLEASE MAKE FORD OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM SO PEOPLE CAN HAVE PEACE OF MIND. FORD WILL NOT EVEN ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IS TELLING ME I HAVE TO PAY $1100 TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

THE REAR WINDOW ON MY F150 BROKE WHILE MY WIFE WAS WARMING UP THE CAR. THE ONLY THING SHE DID WAS TURN ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST. *TR
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND TURNING ON THE WINDOW DEFROST FRONT AND REAR I HEARD A LOUD POP FROM REAR OF TRUCK AND THE REAR SLIDING WINDOW HAD BROKEN ON DRIVERS SIDE. *TR
INCIDENT OCCURRED ON SATURDAY 2-21-15 AT OR ABOUT 3:30PM. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 30MPH WHEN A VERY LOUD BANG WAS HEARD INSIDE VEHICLE. AFTER PULLING OVER A QUICK GLANCE AROUND INSIDE THE VEHICLE REVEALED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE PORTION OF THE 3 PIECE REAR GLASS OF THE CAB HAS SHATTERED. THE GLASS REMAINS IN PLACE BUT HAD "SPIDERWEBED" AND IS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. UPON INSPECTION ON THE OUTSIDE, NO SIGNS OF IMPACT ARE VISIBLE AND THE POINT OF ORIGIN OF THE CRACKS APPEARS TO BE THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER WHERE THE GLASS IS COVERED BY THE RUBBER MOLDING. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT WAS ABOUT 25 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND SNOWING, ALL SNOW HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM VEHICLE PRIOR TO DRIVING AND THE REAR DE-FROST/DE-FOGGER HAD BEEN RUN AND TURNED OFF ABOUT 10 MINS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS GLASS WITH THE HEATING ELEMENTS IN THESE CONDITIONS, SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR OR IDENTICAL TO THIS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THIS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL AS THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ARTICLE WRITTEN ON THIS SUBJECT. I PLACED A CALL TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR ASSISTANCE IN REPLACING THE GLASS AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS PURCHASED THROUGH FORD (FORD ESP PREMIUM) DOES NOT COVER GLASS. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM FORD THAT NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE GIVEN AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE 3/36 BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS FAILURE OF THE DESIGN FROM THE FACTORY THAT FORD IS AWARE OF. *TR
ON FEBRUARY 19 2015 I REMOTE STARTED MY F150 IN THE DRIVEWAY TO WARM IT UP. I GOT IN THE VEHICLE AND PUT ON THE REAR DEFROSTER TO CLEAR THE MIRRORS AND REAR WINDOW. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS LIKE AN EXPLOSION INSIDE VEHICLE. I LOOKED AROUND AND NOTICED THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR GLASS WAS SHATTERED. THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE GLASS. PREVIOUSLY THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER ON MARCH 27 2014 FOR AN INOPERATIVE REAR DEFROSTER SYSTEM. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS AN OPEN IN THE RESISTER IN THE DEFROSTER GRID AND THE WHOLE REAR WINDOW ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. FORD CORPORATE TOLD THE DEALER THAT THE WINDOW COULDN'T SHATTER BY TURNING ON THE DEFROSTER AND WOULD NOT REPLACE THE UNIT. I CALLED THE FORD CORPORATE NUMBER AND LODGED A COMPLAINT AND WAS GIVEN A CLAIM NUMBER. THEY HAD THE DEALER SEND THEM PICTURES OF THE SHATTERED GLASS. FORD CORPORATE DENIED MY CLAIM AND I WAS TOLD TO GO THROUGH MY INSURANCE GLASS COVERAGE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS INSURANCE FRAUD IN MY OPINION. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY GLASS REPAIR SHOP AND THE OWNER TOOK A CAREFUL LOOK AT THE SHATTERED GLASS AND SAID THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED IT NO CHARGE SINCE THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE. FORD IS LAYING THE BURDEN OF A DEFECTIVE GLASS ASSEMBLY OFF TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. *JS

RETURNED TO VEHICLE AND NOTICED RIGHT SECTION OF SLIDING REAR WINDOW GLASS WAS SHATTERED AND A PIECE WAS LAYING ON BED COVER. EXAMINED WINDOW AND FOUND NO SIGN OF ANY FOREIGN OBJECT NEAR WINDOW, GLASS SECTION HAD FALLEN FROM INSIDE OUT. AREA OF DAMAGED GLASS AT BOTTOM CORNER APPEARS TO BE BURNT AND DISCOLORED. WAITING FOR RESPONSE FROM DEALER. UPON ONLINE RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS NOT A UNIQUE OCCURRENCE ON THIS FORD MODEL AND FORD HAS BEEN NEGLIGENT IN ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY. *TR

I WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY, WARMING MY TRUCK UP (I LIVE IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND IT WAS A COLD MORNING)WHEN I HEARD A LOUD SHATTER, I LOOKED AROUND AND EVEN OPENED THE COVER TO MY SUNROOF BUT DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING, THE NEXT DAY I WENT DOWN THE ROAD AND AS I WAS BACKING INTO THE DRIVEWAY I NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE GLASS OF MY REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED AND "SPIDERED". I LOOKED IT UP AND THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING WITH PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE REAR DEFROSTER. BUT FORD IS NOT COVERING THIS UNDER WARRANTY. I LOOKED INTO HAVING IT FIXED AND THAT RANGES FROM $550-$800 THAT'S A BIG OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE WHEN THERE IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE. A SAFETY ONE AT THAT, I HAVE 3 KIDS. THE SHATTERING SOUND ENOUGH IS ENOUGH TO STARTLE SOMEBODY IF THEY WERE DRIVING AT THE TIME. "LUCKILY" FOR ME, MY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE TRUCK AT THAT TIME AND I WASN'T DRIVING. THE GLASS HAS STAYED LIKE THAT CAUSE OF THE PRICE TO REPAIR IT, BUT YESTERDAY THE GLASS PIECES STARTED FALLING OUT, SO NOW I HAVE TO GET IT REPAIRED. *TR
THE BELOW PROBLEM HAS REPEATED ITSELF MORE THAN 20 TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT. WHEN PARKED OVERNIGHT OR OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, UPON STARTING AND OPERATING THE TRUCK - EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE - THE BRAKES FAIL TO ENGAGE THE FIRST ONE OR TWO TIMES. HAD TO EITHER HIT THE BRAKES VERY HARD OR I HAD TO REVERT THE TRUCK TO P(PARKING) POSITION. THIS JUST ABOUT WORKS TO BRING THE TRUCK TO A HALT, BUT EVEN THIS FAILED A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN D(DRIVING FORWARD). THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS AROUND FOR 10 METERS. THIS HAS LED ME TO ONLY STARTING THE VEHICLE WHEN THERE IS NO PERSON/OBJECT EITHER IN FRONT OR THE REAR. IT IS HIGH-RISK EACH TIME GIVEN THE DAMAGE THE TRUCK CAN DO IF IT COLLIDES INTO SOMETHING. IT IS NOT READILY REPRODUCIBLE AS IT WORKS FINE THEREAFTER AND HENCE COULD NOT PROVE IT EXISTS TO FORD TECHNICIANS. REPORTED IT FIRST TO FORD ALONG WITH AN E-BRAKE ISSUE ON 02/12/2015. THEY REPLACED THE E-BRAKE BUT BRUSHED OFF THIS ISSUE SAYING IT COULD BE RUST AND IT'S NORMAL ON VEHICLES PARKED FOR LONG. HOWEVER THE FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED OF LATE AND I SEE QUITE A FEW FORD OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ON FORD FORUMS. THE POSSIBLE ISSUES COULD BE THE VACUUM PUMP FAILING, BUT FORD TECHNICIANS CLAIM TO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. REALLY AT A LOSS AND HOPE FORD SENDS OUT A BULLETIN TO FIX THIS ASAP. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. IT'S LIFE THREATENING AND COULD CAUSE REAL DAMAGE VERY SOON.
