TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE MISFIRED AND THE RPMS INCREASED. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CHARGE AIR COOLER AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARTIALLY REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP AND WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE STEERING WENT OUT, I HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL AND I NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. I HAD TO SPEND NEARLY $1700.00 ON REPAIRS FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS. I WAS DIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT COMES ON AND VEHICLE IS HARD TO STEER. RESETS AFTER SHUTTING ENGINE OFF BUT HAS CAME ON MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY VEHICLES WITH MANUAL STEERING AND CAN HARDLY TURN THE WHEEL ON THIS VEHICLE WHEN THIS FAULT HAPPENS
BRAKES DON'T ENGAGE AFTER SITTING, VACCUM PUMP TO BOOSTER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY.
TSB 15-0131 TIMING CHAIN STRETCHES AND MAKES A LOUD RATTLE UPON STARTING AND EVENTUALLY LEADS TO LOSS OF POWER AND ENGINE DAMAGE. THE KNOWN CAUSE OF THIS IS ALL THE PHASERS,THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST PHASERS. THIS IS MY MAIN CONCERN. EVERYONE I KNOW WHO OWNS THIS VEHICLE HAS THIS PROBLEM. THE OTHER COMPLAINT IS THAT I GET 14 MPG.
SINCE OCTOBER 2015 MY STEERING ON MY 2012 FORD F150 SUPERCREW 4X4 WITH 44,000 MILES RANDOMLY FREEZES UP WITHOUT WARNING. THIS ISSUE OCCURS MOSTLY AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN. AFTER TURNING, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILS TO RETURN TO CENTER. OCCASIONALLY THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, WHICH MAKES DRIVING VERY SCARY AS I HAVE TO CONTINUALLY WORK TO KEEP THE WHEEL CENTERED. I DID TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALER ONCE WHEN THIS PROBLEM WAS HAPPENING FOR A FEW DAYS STRAIGHT, BUT BY THE TIME THEY TESTED IT THE ISSUE DISSAPPEARED.IN REVIEWING THE MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS ISSUE, I AM SHOCKED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ISSUED FOR DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN MY STEERING HANGS UP AND WILL NOT RETURN TO CENTER. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO COME AND GO. I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE ON OCT 2015 WITH APROXIMATELY 25K MILES ON THE ODOMETER, THIS IS PRETTY SCARRY , EVEN WHILE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AS THIS MAKES ME DO THE MINUTE STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENTS THAT THE SELF CENTERING STEERING SHOULD BE DOING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE IS STILL RANDOMLY GOING ON.
REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS TURNED ON. 5-10MINUTES LATER, WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY, A REAR WINDOW PANEL SHATTERED, EMITTING A LOUD BANG. I BELIEVE THAT THE REAR DEFROSTER OR DEFECT IN THE WINDOW CAUSED IT TO SHATTER - NO OTHER EVIDENCE FOR SOURCES OF BREAKAGE WAS FOUND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED DURING RAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION MISFIRED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000. ......UPDATED 12/17/15 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE SPARK PLUGS AND PLUGS WERE REPLACED. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
I HAVE A 2012 F-150 WITH 44651.5 MILES ON IT. OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS WHEN I START THE TRUCK IN THE GARAGE THE STEERING MAKES A TERRIBLE NOISE AND WHEN DRIVING THERE IS GLITCH IN THE STEERING OFF AND ON. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND UNABLE TO GET IT TO DO THIS FOR HIM. AFTER SEEING THESE STATEMENTS(COMPLAINTS) ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH STEERING IN THE 2012 F-150'S I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MINE. THE NOISE OCCURS WHEN I START THE ENGINE AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL HOWEVER SLIGHT, THE GLITCH IS FELT WHEN DRIVING.
THE OTHER DAY MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START WHEN LEAVING WORK AT NIGHT. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK OVER BUT NOT START. FORD LET ME KNOW IT WAS A FUSE AND SOME COMPONENTS THAT HAD MELTED, THAT IT WOULD NEED A SPECIAL PART TO BE ORDERED IN SINCE FORD HAS STATED THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT MUST BE LOCATED TO A DIFFERENT AREA OF THE VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS (FIRE HAZARD). I AM SHOCKED THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ABOUT THIS NOR IS IT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY (I HAVE AN EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY).

THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED UNKNOWN MEDICAL INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
AT COLD STARTUP, THE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP FAILS DUE TO CORROSION AND THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK AT ALL. THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE PEDAL DURING THE FIRST 2 MINUTES OF STARTUP TIME. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AFTER NOT RUNNING FOR MORE THAN 5 HOURS. I HAVE NEARLY HIT PETS, KIDS, PEDESTRIANS, AND MAILBOXES BECAUSE OF THIS. PARKING ATTENDANTS DRIVING MY VEHICLE HAVE HIT OTHER VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED, AND IMMEDIATELY PUT INTO GEAR, IT BEGINS TO MOVE WITH NO ABILITY TO USE THE BRAKES.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN THE MORNING GOING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 50-60 MPH, VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY DOWN SHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR RESULTING IN THE WHEELS LOCKING UP. WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT SLOWED DOWN TO FIRST GEAR. TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED. FORD WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. HAD TO HAVE AAMCO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION FOR $5,460.07. OCCURRED IN SEPT OF 2015 WITH 74,000 MILEAGE.
I WENT TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK STARTED TO MISS AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. IT STARTED TO LOSE SPEED AND CAUSED A BACK UP OF CARS BEHIND ME. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT CLEARED UP AND DIDN'T DO IT AGAIN. I BELIEVE THE BUILD UP OF WATER IN THE INTERCOOLER TO BE THE PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT'S A POOR DESIGN BY FORD AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150 EQUIPPED WITH FEDERAL COURAGIA A/T TIRES, SIZE: 35X12.5X20 (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SIDEWALL OF THE FRONT DRIVER AND REAR TIRES WERE SEPARATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBER WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,058 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
WHEN I STARTED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY AND TRIED TO MOVE IT 20 FEET AWAY FROM MY GARAGE, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT IMMEDIATLY WORK AND I CAME WITHIN 2 FEET FROM HITTING ANOTHER CAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD A BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FAILURE AND I HAD TO PAY $900 TO HAVE IT FIXED. IF THERE WERE A CHILD WALKING IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE, I WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP.

INTERNET RESEARCH YIELDS COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2009 AND LATER MODEL YEAR FORD F150 TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM FAULT OCCURS, CANNOT BE RESET, IS EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, AND FREQUENTLY FAILS AGAIN. CONSUMERS ARE OPERATING VEHICLES, IGNORING THE SENSOR FAULT DISPLAY. FORD SHOULD EXTEND WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS, 100,000 MILES UNTIL ENGINEERING DEFICIENCIES ARE RESOLVED.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT. GAUGE SAYS POWER ASSISTED STEERING FAULT. SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF AND STARTING CORRECTS THE PROBLEM, BUT IT IS INTERMITTENT. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, EVEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS. HAS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAIL TO TURN OFF COMPLETELY AFTER USE. AT TIMES TURN ON BY THEMSELVES. BOTH PROBLEMS OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. ACT SIMILAR TO INTERMITTENT MODE, BUT TIMING SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. ONLINE SEARCH FOR ISSUE REVEALED NUMEROUS OTHER VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR PROBLEM, MOST CAUSED BY THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH THAT CONTROLS THE WIPERS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH AND REPLACED AT MY COST. DEALER NOTES INCLUDED "KNOWN ISSUE".
BRAKES APPLIED TO STOP, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, VEHICLE INCREASED, BRAKES COULDN'T WORK HAD TO TURN KEY OF TO STOP ENGINE.
BACK GLASS WINDOW ON DRIVER'S SIDE SHATTERED WHILE USING THE REAR DEFROSTER
WHEN I OVER STEERED THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT IT MADE A SQUEALING SOUND AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THERE WAS A NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH DISPLAY SAYING "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND "SERVICE AUTOTRACK." I WAS TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO RECALL!
I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 95 IN IDAHO; I BEGAN TO FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK; IT WAS WORST WHEN SLOWING DOWN. I PULLED OVER STARTED LOOKING FOR POSSIBLE ISSUES, UPON TROUBLESHOOTING I NOTICED 5 OF THE 6 WHEEL LUGS WERE FINGER LOOSE, WHICH I FOUND STRANGE AND PUZZLING, ANYWAY I HAD TO TIGHTEN THEM AND GOT THE OEM LUG WRENCH FROM THE TRUCK; THE LUG WRENCH DIDN'T FIT THE LUG NUTS; IT WAS TOO SMALL. FORD DIDN'T INCLUDE THE RIGHT SIZE LUG WRENCH WHEN MANUFACTURING THE TRUCK. SECOND ISSUE: THE LUG NUTS HAVE A FAUX CHROME COVER THAT CAN'T BE REMOVED WITHOUT BREAKING IT; THESE FAUX COVERS GET WORN OVER TIME WITH PROPER MAINTENANCE OF ROTATING TIRES, THUS NOT PERMITTING THE 150LBS OF TORQUE THAT IS REQUIRED BY THE FORD OWNERS MANUAL. UPON GOING TO A MECHANIC THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE ME THAT SO MUCH TORQUE WAS REQUIRED UNTIL I SHOWED THEM; THEY THEN ATTEMPTED TO TIGHTEN OR ENSURE ALL LUG NUTS HAD THIS AMOUNT OF TORQUE, WELL A NUMBER OF THESE FAUX LUG NUTS WOULDN'T PERMIT 150LBS OF TORQUE BECAUSE THEY WOULD SLIP AROUND THE LUG UNDERNEATH; THESE FAUX COVERS HAD TO BE BROKEN OFF TO TIGHTEN TO THE PROPER TORQUE. OF NOTE: THE OEM LUG WRENCH DOES FIT THE LUG NUTS ONCE THESE FAUX COVERS ARE BROKEN OFF. THESE ARE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS.
I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A RAIN OR HUMIDITY PROBLEM WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINES. THIS HAS HAPPEN ON AND OFF FROM NEW AND NOW SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. WITH A FAMILY OF 6, I WILL BE REPLACING THIS VEHICLE AS SOON AS FINANCES ALLOW.
PUT TRUCK IN DRIVE WENT TO APPLY BRAKE PEDAL AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES, TRUCK KEPT ROLLING. VERY DANGEROUS, THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP, THANKFULLY I WASN'T GOING FAST WHEN THIS HAPPENED. INCIDENT HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE, WENT TO FORD GARAGE TO EVALUATE ISSUE, THEY CONCLUDED ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP AT FAULT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT HARD AND SPORADIC GEAR SHIFTING. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED FROM SIXTH TO SECOND GEAR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (DOGGET FORD, 9225 NORTH FREEWAY, HOUSTON, TX) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WAS FAULTY. THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED. ALSO, THE COIL SPRINGS WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK AND COIL SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
THERE WERE SEVERAL CODES OF SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND SEVERAL TIMES THAT A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A NEW RACK AND STEERING MODULE.
POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE TRAVELING DOWN I-35 IN NEW BRAUNFELS TX MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT HIGH SPEED AT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN.
I HAVE HAD CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS WITH BRAKING AFTER COLD START WHEN BACKING OR DRIVING FORWARD OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. REPLACED VACUUM PUMP AS THIS IS A DOCUMENTED PROBLEM AND AFTER ONLY A FEW DAYS THE PROBLEM RESUMED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT MY MECHANIC FOR FURTHER EVALUATION AND POTENTIAL REPAIR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND ALSO COSTING ME ALOT OF MONEY IN REPAIRS! I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY ISSUES WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY, HOWEVER, I DO NOT TRANSPORT MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
VEHICLE IS A 2012 FORD F150 3.5L V6 ECOBOOST. VEHICLE HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS (30 GAL TANK). VEHICLE GAS GAUGE BEGAN TO DROP QUICKLY. COMPARED TO TRIP COUNTER GALLONS USED, VEHICLE SHOWED EMPTY TAG AFTER ONLY USING 9.2 GALLONS. UPON FILLING GAS AND PUMP ENTERING FILL HOLE, PRESSURE FROM THE TANK WAS RELEASED MORE SO THAN ANY OTHER TIME. GAS GAUGE REPEATED SAME ISSUE UPON ADDING THE 9.2 GALLONS TO FILL THE TANK AGAIN. GAUGE ONCE AGAIN SHOWED EMPTY WHEN APPROX 10 GALLONS WERE USED.
VEHICLE IS A FORD F150 2012 ECOBOOST V6 3.5L. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IN HIGH HUMIDITY AND FOG WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON FOR A TIME PERIOD OF AROUND 4 HOURS WITHOUT SPOOLING THE TURBO CHARGERS. UPON TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, AND BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AT CURRENT SPEED BUT WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN GAS WAS PRESSED TO PICK UP SPEED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID ILLUMINATE. THIS ISSUE WAS CONSISTENT WITH THE ISSUE OF CONDENSATION/WATER IN THE CHARGE AIR COOLER CAUSING THE CYLINDERS TO MISFIRE AND VEHICLE GOING INTO LIMP MODE. JULY 6 LOST POWER TO TRUCK ENGINE AT 60 MPH WHEN GOING TO PASS IN HARD ACCELERATION SITUATION. TRUCK ENGINE SHUTTERED FOR OVER 3 MINS UNTIL I COULD GET IT STABILIZED AROUND 2000 RPMS IN A LOWER GEAR/SPEED. THIS WAS THE FIRST OF TWO SIMILAR SITUATION ON THE SAME DAY WITH THE TRUCK AND THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY ANY ACCELERATION OVER 3500 RPMS CAUSED A LOSS OF POWER. WE LIMPED THE VEHICLE HOME THAT DAY. NEXT DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF UNTIL WE COULD GET TRUCK INTO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE ON 7-13. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESEARCHED VIA INFO ON THIS SITE TO NO CONCLUSION. I CAN SAY IF YOU DROVE THIS VEHICLE AND SIMULATED THIS ISSUE YOU WOULD SEE THE MAJOR ISSUE THIS CAUSES AND POTENTIAL RISK OF ACCIDENT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH ACCELERATION. SPECIFICALLY HEAVY TRAFFIC SITUATIONS. THE ISSUE CAUSED SPARK PLUG DAMAGE, CATALYTIC CONVERTER DAMAGE AND THE DEALER PERFORMED THE TSB (4TH ISSUED BY FORD) TO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, CAUSES SAFETY ISSUES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED TO PERMANENTLY FIX NOT TRY TO PATCH WITH FOUR DIFFERENT TSB. FIX THIS CORRECTLY BEFORE ACCIDENTS OCCUR THAT CAUSE DEATHS. 2012 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST CAME OFF WARRANTY IN APRIL, ON JULY 2ND I STARTED THE TRUCK, PUT IT IN GEAR (DRIVE), AND HAD NO BRAKES. THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE AS IF THE ABS WAS TRYING TO ENGAGE. I HAD TO PRACTICALLY STAND ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE TRUCK AND PUT IT BACK IN PARK. PUMPED THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES AND TRIED IT AGAIN SAME THING. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, TURNED IT BACK ON, AND LET IT WARM UP A FEW MINUTES. NOW IT WAS OK. FROM THEN ON WHEN THE TRUCK STARTED COLD IT HAS DONE THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS. GOOD THING I FOUND THIS BEFORE I REACHED ANY SPEED, AND WHILE THERE WAS NO CARGO IN THE BED TO ADD INERTIA. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND REPORTED TO FORD THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM ASSIST PUMP WAS LIKELY CORRODED, AND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE ON 2011-2013 F-150 ECOBOOST MODELS. THEY NEEDED A FORD TECHNICIAN TO MAKE THE DIAGNOSIS, WHICH I WAS CHARGED $100 FOR (TO DETERMINE THAT I WAS RIGHT). THEY ALSO REPORTED A BAD FUSE FOR THE PUMP. I AM HOPING NOBODY IS TRYING TO SAY THAT WITH A BAD FUSE THESE PUMPS WILL DISINTEGRATE IN THREE WEEKS OF SUMMER WEATHER? LET'S BE HONEST- THE BAD PUMP TOOK OUT THE FUSE, IF THE FUSE WAS BLOWN. THEY ESTIMATE A ~$900 REPAIR. I OPENED A TICKET WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY BECAUSE THIS EVENT EXACTLY MATCHES NHTSA PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION ITEM PE15026. PEOPLE WITH THESE TRUCKS OR ANYONE AROUND THEM COULD GET SERIOUSLY HURT IF THE DRIVER CANNOT REACT QUICKLY OR PANICS WHEN THIS PART FAILS, AND IT IS A POORLY DESIGNED PART. APPARENTLY THIS PART WAS RE-ENGINEERED FOR 2014 AND LATER MODELS. AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING I AM HOPING I CAN GET SOME HELP FROM FORD. TRUCK HAS NO POWER BRAKES WHEN FIRST STARTED.

VEHICLE IS A FORD F150 2012 ECOBOOST V6 3.5L. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IN RAIN WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON FOR A TIME PERIOD OF AROUND 3 HOURS WITHOUT SPOOLING THE TURBO CHARGERS. UPON TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, AND BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THIS ACTION NEARLY CAUSED A HEAD ON COLLISION. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AT CURRENT SPEED BUT WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN GAS WAS PRESSED TO PICK UP SPEED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE SAME TRIP CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THIS ISSUE WAS CONSISTENT WITH THE ISSUE OF CONDENSATION/WATER IN THE CHARGE AIR COOLER CAUSING THE CYLINDERS TO MISFIRE AND VEHICLE GOING INTO LIMP MODE. THERE WAS NO ISSUE WHEN ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS WERE OPTIMAL. AGAIN, THIS ISSUE NEARLY CAUSED A HEAD ON COLLISION AS I TRIED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE IN AN AREA WHICH ALLOWED PASSING IN MY LANE. FORD RE-FLASHED THE THE ECU AND ADDED A DEFLECTOR SHIELD TO THE TOP OF THE CHARGE AIR COOLER AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
ENGINE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. ENGINE STARTED SHAKING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT HAD BEEN RAINING AND WAS VERY WET. AFTER PULLING OFF TURNED OF ENGINE FOR APPROX 15 MINUTES. STARTED DRIVING AGAIN AND DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY OTHER PROBLEMS.
WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED WITH A FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THEN PUT INTO GEAR, THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSES COMPLETELY AND THE ABS SYSTEM THEN KICKS IN TO ASSIST IN STOPPING. THE RESULT WAS THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM'S VACUUM PUMP, WHICH ALSO BLEW THE FUSE FOR IT. UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, THE DEALER REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP, ALTHOUGH NOT THE FUSE WHICH CAUSED A SUBSEQUENT TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP AS THE PROBLEM DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE BEEN RESOLVED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION, BUT THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FRONT BUMPER SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I HAVE BEEN HEARING A LOUD NOISE BEHIND MY HEADLIGHT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW. A FEW MONTHS BACK, MY BRAKES DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK CORRECTLY AND I REAR ENDED SOMEONE. I AM GOING THROUGH BRAKE PADS LIKE CRAZY ON MY TRUCK AND MY BRAKES STILL DON'T SEEM TO WORK CORRECTLY. I WAS DOING RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE VACUUM BRAKE ASSIST BEHIND THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT. THAT'S WHAT'S MAKING THAT NOISE INDER MY HOOD & HAS GOT TO BE THE PROBLEM FOR THE LOSS OF MY BRAKES. IF MY BRAKES WORKED CORRECTLY I WOULD HAVE NEVER REAR ENDED CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG AT THAT POINT. & NOW I KNOW THE EXACT CAUSE. BUT WITH EVERYONE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2011-2012S, I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL. FORD SHOULD BE THE ONE PAYING FOR THE WRECK I GOT INTO SINCE IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM THAT'S HAPPENING. HOPEFULLY WE COULD COME TO A CONCLUSION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!
