DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WHILE USING DEFROST. OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING AND PARKED. A VISUAL INSPECTION WAS MADE TO INSURE THAT NO FOREIGN OBJECT WAS THE CAUSE. SHARDS OF GLASS WAS NOTED COVERING THE BACK SEAT AND FLOORBOARD. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF A CHILD OR OTHER PERSON WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
AFTER HAVING THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT ABOUT 24,000 MILES, I WAS BACKING UP AND LOST POWER AND ALMOST RAN INTO MY NEIGHBORS YARD. THE MECHANIC IS SAYING ITS THE VACUUM ASSIST PUMP AND POSSIBLY SOMETHING ELSE BUT THIS PROBLEM DIDN'T HAPPEN BEFORE AND ONLY WHEN I START THE CAR AND BACK UP
I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, FOUR TIMES! THE TRUCK WILL ACTUALLY GO INTO 'LIMP MODE' CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE ALL POWER WHEN ACCELERATING, IT TAKES ABOUT A MINUTE TO CORRECT ITSELF, BUT YOU HAVE TO LET COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR. IF YOU DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR BEFORE IT CORRECTS ITSELF THE VEHICLE SHUTTERS VIOLENTLY AND SLOWS EVEN MORE! THIS IS A VERY HAIRY SITUATION ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON RT 95! THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME "UNFORTUNATELY IT'S SUNNY OUT AND WE CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM "! IT ONLY DOES THIS WHEN YOU GO ON TRIPS DURING RAINY DAYS OR IN HEAVY MOISTURE.I LIVE IN MARYLAND AND HAVE A SECOND HOME IN WINSTON-SALEM NC. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES WHILL COUTING BETWEEN THE TWO. ALL THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE IS PUT A SO CALLED WATER DEFLECTOR ON MY VEHICLE, WHICH DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS WIDELY KNOWN PROBLEM?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEEDS AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A WATER LEAK HAD CAUSED WIRING DAMAGE WHICH MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED BUT THE VEHICLE LATER EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
2012 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP SAFETY RECALL. *LD *JS
VEHICLE FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING DUE TO FUEL PUMP FUSE (LOCATION #27) BURNING UP IN FUSE BOX. AFTER MY VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES, LAST ON THE HIGHWAY, WITH A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND OTHER SAFETY CONCERNS, I FOUND FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB (TSB 15-0137) WITH A WORK AROUND FUSE RELOCATION. THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY AS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD, BUT NOT THE CONSUMER, PUTTING DRIVERS AT RISK. THE FUSE AT ISSUE, LOCATION #27, LITERALLY MELTED AND BURNED UP IN THE SOCKET.
I TOOK DELIVERY OF THIS TRUCK IN MARCH OF 2012. THE TRUCK HAS HAD DOCUMENTED ONGOING SERIOUS DRIVABILITY, SAFETY AND RELIABILITY ISSUES SINCE OCTOBER OF 2013. THE ISSUE OF IMMEDIATE CONCERN RELATES TO ONGOING MISFIRE, BACK FIRE, AND ENGINE STALL. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED, HIGHWAY SPEED, AND WHILE TOWING. THE IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER AND SUBSEQUENT SURGING EFFECTS CAUSED BY THIS CONDITION RENDERS THE TRUCK HAZARDOUS TO ME, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER MOTORISTS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY REPORTED TO AND SERVICED BY FORD. I HAVE ALSO PERSONALLY FILED COMPLAINTS AND CONCERN WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY. SEE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE CASE NUMBER 8603638. THE MISFIRE, BACK FIRE, AND ENGINE STALL IS THE CURRENT ONGOING ISSUE BUT YOU WILL ALSO SEE IN THE SERVICE HISTORY THIS VEHICLE HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED TRACTION CONTROL, DRIVE SHAFT, STEERING SYSTEM, AND SENSOR/ELECTRICAL COMPONENT FAILURES DATING BACK TO MAY OF 2012. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE ECO BOOST ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN IN MY TRUCK. THIS KNOWN ISSUE WAS RESPONDED TO BY TECH SERVICE BULLETIN 13-2-14. HOWEVER, THE MITIGATION MEASURES OF THAT BULLETIN AND OTHER SUBSEQUENT SERVICE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR MY TRUCK HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL. FURTHER, THE SERVICE BULLETIN DOES NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE OF A TRUCK TRAVELING PUBLIC ROADS AND EXPERIENCING SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. FINALLY, I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THE IGNITION/ENGINE PROBLEMS MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED HAS CAUSED PREMATURE FAILURE TO OTHER COMPONENTS TO MY DRIVE TRAIN. THIS INCLUDES FOULED SPARK PLUGS, DAMAGED COILS, AND LIKELY ACCELERATED END OF LIFE TO OTHER EMISSION CONTROLS AND MECHANICAL COMPONENTS TO THE ENGINE DUE TO THE MISFIRE AND WATER ENTERING THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER.
I REMOTE STARTED MY 2012 F150 LARIAT AT WORK. 5-10 MINUTES LATER I WENT TO GET IN AND CLOSED THE DOOR AND BOOM THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW SPIDER WEB CRACKED INTO A MILLION PIECES. DRIVER DOOR LATCH SENSOR IS FAULTY. DOOR AJAR WARNING ON INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL NOT GO OFF. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE STILL OR IN MOTION. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY WIFE WHILE TRAVELING OR SHOPPING AT MIGHT. IMPAIRS VISIBILITY WHILE NIGHT DRIVING AND LOCKING CAR A BIG SECURITY ISSUE.
WAS DRING TO WORK ON SMOOTH ASPHALT ROAD WITH NO OTHER TRAFFIC VISIBLE. TURNED ON ELECTRIC REAR WINDOW DEFROST. HEARD LOUD NOICE LIKE GUNSHOT. FELT RUSH OF AIR. DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED.
SEATS STOP WORKING THE TRUCK HAS 27,252 READING FORD FORUMS MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE EXPERENCED THIS AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS JUST RAN OUT. FORD WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $1,700.00 TO FIX THE SEAT HEATERS.
ON 1/12/16 AT ABOUT 06T00 HRS., ON MY WAY TO WORK TRAVELLING ON MAIN STREET, THE RIGHT SECTION OF MY SLIDING REAR GLASS WINDOW SHATTERED. ( IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN GOING OFF). THE TEMP WAS AROUND 30F DEGREES AND ICE ON THE WINDOW. I ACTIVATED THE DEFROST AND WITHIN TEN MINUTES THE GLASS SHATTERED. I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD JUST SHOT MY VEHICLE AND IT CAUSED TO SWERVE INTO THE ADJACENT LANE. HAD THEIR BEEN MANY VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAY AT THAT TIME I WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I WENT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN DOTHAN, AL AND THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER VALID AND THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE PART. I HAD THE SAME SLIDING GLASS REAR WINDOW REPLACED IN 2013 FOR FAILING TO CLOSE AFTER OPENING. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE NOTICED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH FORD F150 YEAR MODELS 2010-2013.
I USED THE REMOTE START ON MY 2012 F150 PLATINUM ON A 20 DEGREE JANUARY MORNING. GOT IN DROVE TO WORK AND REALIZED WHEN I GOT OUT THE REAR RIGHT SIDE OF THE SLIDING WINDOW WAS TOTALLY SHATTERED. NO EVIDENCE OF VANDALISM OR ANYTHING HITTING THE GLASS. SHATTERED TOTALLY EVEN ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDOW. VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 2 MONTHS BUT UNDER MILEAGE WARRANTY BY 9,000 MILES. FORD DEALER TOLD ME NOTHING THEY CAN DO. CALLED FORD AND REGIONAL CUSTOMER CARE CALLED ME AND SAID IT WOULD TAKE UP TO 3 DAYS TO GET ME AN ANSWER. DECIDED TO FORGET THEM AND USE MY COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE JUST TO HAVE IT FIXED ASAP.
VACUUM ASSIST PUMP IS FAILING AT 33000 MILES. THIS IS THE SECOND PUMP THAT HAS FAILED. . PUMP MAKES LOUD NOISE AND VEHICLE LOSES BRAKING ABILITY BRAKE PEDAL REQUIRES EXCESSIVE FORCE TO STOP VEHICLE AND GREATLY EXTENDS STOPPING DISTANCE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 30MPH OR LESS THROUGH THE CITY I TRIED TO TURN ON THE REAR DEFROST BUT THE INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. I THOUGHT EITHER A FUSE OR CONTACT MIGHT BE THE ISSUE BUT AS A CONTINUED TO DRIVE A FEW MINUTES LATER THE REAR SIDELIGHT WINDOW SHATTERED WITH A LOUD BANG. BROKEN GLASS COULD HAVE INJURED MY SON SITTING IN THE REAR SEAT AND VISIBILITY IS NOW COMPROMISED. NOTHING STRUCK THE WINDOW, THIS WAS CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTION OF THE DEFROST AND OR SUBSTANDARD GLASS OR THE COMBINATION OF BOTH AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. SOME POSTS ON THE INTERNET HAVE REPORTED LARGE AMOUNTS OF THE GLASS ALMOST FALLING ONTO INFANTS IN REAR FACING CAR SEATS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR SAFETY FOR PHYSICAL HARM TO PASSENGERS AND VISIBILITY SAFETY.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS EVENT IS LIKE THE RECALL DESCRIBED IN NHTSA 16V248000. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN AUGUST 2012, OUTSIDE OF 16V248000 RECALL TARGET DATES. REPAIR AT DEALERSHIP REQUIRED. RECALL DATES WERE NOT INCLUSIVE OF ALL DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS.
'TAKATA RECALL" I TOOK THIS TRUCK TO THE BERGSTORM DEALERSHIP IN NEENAH,WI ON 1/07/16 MILEAGE WAS READ 30564. THE CABLE RETAINER FOR THE REAR DRIVER DOOR, COULD NOT BE OPEN. I DID NOT KNOW THAT THE I HAD TO PAID FOR THE DIAG, THAT THEY NEVER TOLD ME THERE BE CHARGE FOR. HE JUST SAID "HERE JUST SIGNED THIS BLANK FORM AND WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT IS NEED TO BE DONE" I NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER DOOR DID NOT OPEN ON 9/2015 AT THE MILEAGE OF 27000. I FELT THAT THIS IS A DEFECT.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR LOSS OF BRAKING RIGHT AFTER STARTING ENGINE AND MOVING VEHICLE. HAS HAPPENED REPEATTEDLY FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS.
RECENTLY I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN BECAUSE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT HEATERS WERE "FRIED" ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. IN ONE OF THE POSTS THE OWNER STATED THE SEAT HEATER GOT BURNING HOT. ANOTHER STATED IT CHARRED THE FOAM AND EVEN THE LEATHER. I FEEL LIKE IT IS GOING TO TAKE A VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE OR EVEN WORSE SOMEONE GETTING INJURED FROM THIS PROBLEM. IT IS FORDS PROBLEM IF THIS IS HAPPENING ON MULTIPLE VEHICLES AND ALL THEY ARE DOING IS PUTTING IN NEW ELEMENTS UNTIL THEY FRY AGAIN. THEY NEED TO FIGURE THE ISSUE OUT RIGHT AND SEE WHAT IS CAUSING IT TO HAPPEN. I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A HAZARD THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE OCCURRING. I AM NOT SENDING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I WANT FORD TO PAY FOR THE SEAT HEATERS. IT IS BECAUSE IT IS HAPPENING TO MULTIPLE OWNERS AND ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE CAN BE RESOLVED BUT IT SEEMS LIKE MY SERVICE ADVISORY DIDN'T TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY.
JUST HAD MY 2012 F150 FX4 SUPER CREW APPEARANCE PACKAGE REAR WINDOW SHATTER. LAST NIGHT MY TRUCK IS SITTING ALL BY ITS SELF ON A FLAT SURFACE I HIT THE AUTOMATIC START AS I'M WALKING OUT TO MY TRUCK IT'S ABOUT 22 DEG F OUT I HEAR THIS LOUD POP DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS THEN IN THE MORNING I NOTICED MY RIGHT REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. HOPEFULLY FORD WILL COVER THIS IF NOT THERE'S A CHANCE MY AFTERMARKET WARRANTY WILL OR I WILL FILE A COLLISION CLAIM THROUGH MY INSURANCE. THE SEAMES TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS AND FORD SHOULD TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO CORRECT IT. I LOVE MY F150 HAVE HAD IT SINCE BRAND NEW IT'S BEEN GREAT UP UNTIL NOW BESIDES THE RADIO MODULAR NEED REPLACED WHEN IT WAS JUST OVER A YEAR OLD. WARRANTY TOOK CARE OF THAT NO PROBLEM.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 10-60 MPH, the vehicle sporadically downshifted and upshifted. The contact stated that the vehicle occasionally worked as designed. The wrench symbol was displayed. The contact stated that the failure was like NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V248000 (Power Train). The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined the failure was due to the PCM, which had produced unknown codes. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
AIRBAG PASSENGER LIGHT STAYS ON SWITCH SELECTOR INOPERABLE. IGNITION SWITCH DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY INTERMITTENT NO START.
ECOBOOST, ALMOST 5 SERIOUS ACCIDENTS IN A YEAR. IN JAN, MY WIFE, 3 CHILDREN & I WERE ON I-85 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN MY TRUCK STALLED. WE WENT FROM 65 MPH TO 20 & NO POWER. AN 18 WHEELER WAS BARRELING DOWN ON US & HAD TO MAKE AN AGGRESSIVE MOVE WITH HIS BRAKES LOCKED TO MISS US & THE OTHER CARS. I PULLED THE CAR THROUGH 4 LANES OF 65 MPH TRAFFIC, DOING 15-20 MPH & TURNED THE TRUCK OFF TO GET IT RUNNING AGAIN. NEXT, I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN MY TRUCK STALLED OUT 3 TIMES BEFORE THE TRUCK WOULD FINALLY GO. OVER THE NEXT MONTH MY TRUCK STALLED AT LEAST 10 MORE TIMES. IN APRIL, FORD TOLD ME THAT THE ECOBOOST HAD A PROBLEM & THEY PERFORMED TSB 13-8-1, REPROGRAMED PCM & INSTALLED DEFLECTOR. I HAVEN'T NOTICE ANY POWER LOSS, BUT LOST 2 MPG FROM MY NORMAL DRIVING HABITS. IN JUNE, I MERGED INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC & MY TRUCK STALLED. 65 MPH TO IDLE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I DON'T KNOW HOW I AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY & TURNED THE TRUCK OFF TO GET IT GOING. MY TRUCK STALLED 5 MORE TIMES BEFORE TAKING IT BACK TO FORD. IN AUGUST, MY TRUCK STALLED AT AN INTERSECTION 4 TIMES. I COMPLETELY BLOCKED TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 10 MINS. I GOT ON THE HWY & WENT 8 MILES. MY TRUCK STALLED 14 TIMES' VERY DANGEROUS. EVERY TIME I GOT THE TRUCK UP TO SPEED, IT WOULD STALL & I WOULD HAVE TO PULL IT OVER & TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT. IN AUG I TOOK MY TRUCK TO FORD & THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. 2 MONTHS LATER IT WAS STALLING AGAIN. FORD TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MISFIRING & THAT THEY NEEDED TO CHANGE THE PLUG BOOTS, SPARK PLUGS & THE FUEL FILTER. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE NEXT STEP THEY WERE REQUIRED TO DO. SO NOW I'M PAYING FORD TO TEST DIFFERENT THINGS & HOPE THAT SOMETHING WORKS. YESTERDAY I PULLED OUT ONTO A BUSY STREET & MY TRUCK STALLED. I WAS ALMOST T-BONED. I AM DRIVING A TIME BOMB. EVERY TIME I DRIVE THIS TRUCK I AM RISKING MY LIFE & EVERYONE AROUND ME.
I STARTED MY 2012 F-150 AND ACTIVATED THE FRONT AND REAR DEFROSTERS. WHILE IDLING IN A DRIVEWAY, I HEARD A LOUD POP, LOOKED AROUND AND REALIZED MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDSHIELD PANEL HAD SHATTERED SPIDER WEB STYLE. LUCKILY I TURNED OFF THE DEFROSTER IN TIME AND WAS ABLE TO DUCT TAPE THE BROKEN WINDOW. UNFORTUNATELY, TINY SPLINTERS OF GLASS WERE ALREADY ON MY REAR PASSENGER SEAT, AND I GOT SOME IN MY HANDS FROM TAPING IT UP. THANK GOD NOBODY WAS SITTING IN THAT SEAT. TEMPERATURE WAS LOW 40S, I WAS TRYING TO GET RID OF A SLIGHT FROST.
I TURNED ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST ON MY TRUCK, SWITCH LIGHT BLINKED SEVERAL TIMES,AND THEN STAYED ON, A FEW MINUTES LATER A LOUD EXPLOSION FROM THE REAR OF VEHICLE HAPPENED, SOUNDED LIKE A GUN WENT OFF INSIDE CAB! REAR ,RIGHT SIDE GLASS PANEL WAS SHATTERED. THANK GOD NO OTHER VEHICLE WAS IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME! I SWERVED OUT OF REACTION THINKING SOMEONE HAD SHOT A GUN AT ME. I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH ON TWO LANE HIGHWAY,NIGHTTIME, AND OUTSIDE TEMP WAS 31 DEGREES. *JS
I WAS GOING DOWN 105, TO GET FROM CONROE TO PORTER, WHEN I CHANGED LANES TO GET NEAR AN EXIT TO GO THROUGH BACK ROADS THE TRUCK ALL OF A SUDDEN SHOT DOWN TO 42 OR 43, CAUSING SOMEONE BEHIND ME TO TRY TO AVOID HITTING ME, HE AVOIDED MOST OF THE TRUCK BUT HIT MY BUMPER ON THE RIGHT SIDE PUSHING IT INTO THE BED A LITTLE, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON SO I SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS CAUSING THE BELTS TO TIGHTEN UP. HE GOT OUT TO HELP ME AND WE GOT MY TRUCK TOWED, HE ASSUMED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION LOCKING UP. ONCE BACK IN HOUSTON I WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINE AND IT WAS A FREAK ACCIDENT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED FOR OTHER FORD VEHICLES. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

WHILE I WAS WARMING MY F 150 IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR DEPARTURE TO WORK, I HEARD VERY VERY LOUD THUMP SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR WINDOW. ASSUMING MAYBE I OPENED MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO FAR AND WIDE UPON GETTING IN, THAT MAY HAVE MADE THE THUMP SOUND. BUT AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AND PROCEEDED A HALF MILE DOWN THE STREET, I NOTICE TINY SMALL SPIDER FRAGMENTS ON THE RIGHT END OF THE 3 PANEL REAR WINDOW. I FIRST ASSUMED IT WAS MIST DROPPING FROM THE WINDOW BUT ALL THE OTHER WINDOWS ON THE TRUCK WERE DRY & CLEAR. SO I PULLED OVER TO GET OUT TO CHECK TO SEE IF IT WAS TRULY CRACKED AND DAMAGED. AND YES INDEED!!! IT WAS THE REAR RIGHT SIDE PANEL WINDOW DAMAGED. I REMEMBERED THE VERY LOUD THUMP SOUND THAT OCCURRED FIVE MINUTES AGO AND SAW THAT MY DEFROST WAS LIGHT FLICKING AND NOW I REALIZE THAT THE REAR DEFROST MUST HAVE A DEFECT, BECAUSE I NEVER EXPERIENCE THIS EVER BEFORE ON ANY OTHER VEHICLES I OWNED AND CONSIDERING I ONLY HAVE LESS THAN 37000 MILES THERE MUST BE A MAJOR DEFECT WITH THE F150 REAR PANEL WINDOWS. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE FORD F-150 PLEASE CONTACT ME BECAUSE THIS IS UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN, OR ANY PASSENGERS SITTING IN THE REAR. I'M JUST THANKFUL THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE REAR. THE COST TO REPAIR IS EXTREMELY COSTLY CONSIDERING THAT THE ENTIRE REAR PANEL WINDOW HAS TO BE REPLACE, THIS ISN'T FAIR TO THE CONSUMERS.

THE MOTOR, BATTERY, AND BATTERY CABLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE POWER TRAIN WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THE OTHER REPAIRS WERE NOT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

DEALER FOUND NO CODE, SENT BACK TO ME. 11/17&11/22 DRIVER SEAT LOST MEMORY. 11/28/15 RPM REVED WHEN BRAKE WAS APPLIED RPM'S WERE STILL INCREASING. 12/2 BROUGHT TO DEALER NO CODE ON DIAGNOSIS, SENT OUT AGAIN WITHOUT TROUBLESHOOTING 20,900 MILES ON TRUCK. 12/8/15 RPM'S REVED DIDNT GO INTO GEAR. 12/8/15 1HR AFTER PRIOR FAILURE, TRIED TO LEAVE DRIVEWAY AND 2 ATTEMPTS TO ENGAGE DRIVE IT WOULDNT MOVE PUT TRUCK IN REVERSE THEN PROCEEDED TO PUT IN DRIVE, STUCK IN 1ST GEAR FOR 2 BLKS. 12/10/15 MY 5YR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER AND I DROVE 4 BLOCKS BEFORE TRUCK SHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR. 12/11/15 TRUCK DID NOT SEEM TO BE RUNNING RIGHT HEARD A CLUNK UPON LEAVING PRK LOT GOT ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND TRUCK FAILED TO SHIFT, WRENCH ON DASHED SHOWED AND WENT AWAY, DASH INFO HAD LINES ACROSS INSTEAD OF MPG AND AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON, DEALER WAS ON MY WAY, THIS TIME CODE SHOWED AND WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER. I ENDED UP DRIVING THIS VEHICLE 500 MILES IWITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILING HERE AND THERE UNTIL A CODE SHOWED. THIS CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION TO ALL ON THE ROAD AND MUCH UNNEEDED STRESS. I AM VERY CONCERNED WHAT OTHER COMPONENTS HAVE PREMATURE WEAR DUE TO CONTINUING TO DRIVE MY TRUCK IN THIS CONDITION. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED VSC FROM DEALER BUT UNSURE WHAT IT COVERS SO FORD WILL NOT OFFER EXTENDED WARRENTY, ONLY OFFERING OIL CHANGES. I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GO THROUGH THIS SAME DANGEROUS SITUATION. PLEASE ACT ON THIS BEFORE DEATHS START OCCURING. AFTER READING UP ON THE TORQUE CONVERTER, THE SYMTOMS MY TRUCK EXPERIENCED WERE EXACT ALONG WITH THE TRUCK INCREASING RPM'S ALTHOUGH BRAKE WAS APPLIED. INSTINCT IS YOU DONT CONTINUE DRIVING A VECHILE THAT DOESNT SHIFT EVEN DUE TO LIKELYHOOD OF OTHER COMPONENTS FAILING AND DANGEROUS CONDITIONS IN TRAFFIC.
PERIODICALLY LOSE BRAKE POWER AND IT SOUNDS/FEELS LIKE THE ANTILOCK BRAKES ARE KICKING IN. TYPICALLY HAPPENS IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING AND AT LOW SPEEDS (<5MPH). BRAKE POWER IS RETURNED IF I REV THE ENGINE IN NEUTRAL OR PARK. NEARLY HIT A PERSON IN THE PARKING LOT AND DID MINOR DAMAGE TO SNOW FENCE TODAY WHEN BACKING UP AND COULD NOT STOP IN TIME.

TAKATA RECALL. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2012 F150 FX4. WHILE DRIVING ON A SECONDARY HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 55MPH I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT. UPON IMMEDIATE INSPECTION I FOUND THE REAR WINDOW BEHIND THE DRIVER HAD SHATTERED INTO A THOUSAND PIECES.
WHEN DRIVING IN HUMID OR WHEN MOISTURE IS PRESENT SUCH AS RAIN OR MIST THE ENGINE SHUDDER, SHAKES, MISSES AND EVEN SHUTS DOWN WHEN QUICKLY ACCELERATING. I HAVE HAD THE ENGINE COMPLETELY LOOSE POWER WHEN MERGING ONTO FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ONCE WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED REPLACED. OF COURSE I DIDN'T DRIVE IN HUMID OR RAINING ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS AGAIN UNTIL THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AT LEAST 4 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW. ALMOST CRASHED TWICE WHEN PASSING OR MERGING WHEN ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE DATE ENTERED BELOW WAS THE LAST TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. FIRST TIME WAS MARCH 2013 WHEN VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 16,000 MILES.
RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE FORD ECO BOOST ENGINE IN MY 2012 F150. WHEN ACCELERATING THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND BEGINS TO VIBRATE. UNABLE TO GAIN SPEED. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BECAUSE MY TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND BLEND WITH TRAFFIC WHILE MERGING OFF OF AN EXIT ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE LAST TIME THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED ON. WHEN EVALUATED AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT SEVERAL CYLINDERS MISFIRED AND DAMAGED THE TURBO. THE REPAIRS WERE CLOSE TO $1000, TWO WEEKS LATER THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. REPAIRS ARE PENDING NOW. I RESEARCHED THE ECO BOOST ENGINE ON THE INTERNET AFTER EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEMS. THERE WERE NUMEROUS PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. 'SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I WAS LUCKY.
I WAS CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF. THE RPM WAS FINE, HOWEVER ON THE SPEEDOMETER IT KEPT GOING UP AND DOWN (MY MPH WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE), AND IT FELT LIKE SOME ONE WAS PUMPING THE BRAKES (LIGHTLY). I TRIED ACCELERATING BUT ALL IT DID WAS MAKE A SCREECHING SOUND. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO PREVENT CARS FROM REAR ENDING ME AND PLACED IN PARK. I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON AT THIS POINT AND PULLED BACK OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. A FEW DAYS LATER, I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP WHICH THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND NO ISSUES. ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING AS I WAS EXITING I35.

F150 UPS SHIFTS HARD WHEN COLD FROM FIRST TO SECOND AND THIRD GEAR. IT DOWN SHIFTS HARD FROM 3ED TO FIRST GEAR WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 35 MINUTES, I PARKED MY TRUCK FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. AFTER RETURNING TO MY VEHICLE AND PULLING AWAY, MY TRUCK WOULD BARELY ACCELERATE. I GAVE IT MORE GAS AND A LARGE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH AND SOON DISAPPEARED. ONCE IT WAS GONE, MY SPEEDOMETER DIDN'T FUNCTION, THE MILEAGE WAS GONE AND THE AIR BAG DISCONNECT WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I DECIDED TO DRIVE IT TO MY DEALERSHIP 10 MILES AWAY SO THEY COULD ATTEMPT TO REGISTER A CODE ON THEIR COMPUTER AS I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS TRUCK BUCKING/SURGING WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAYS SPEEDS FOR 8 MONTHS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME A WARNING LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED FOR A PROBLEM. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE ISSUES, I NOTICED THAT THE SIGNALS WERE NOT TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY AND HAD TO BE DEACTIVATED MANUALLY DURING TURNS. AFTER THE TECHNICIAN TOOK TECHNICAL INFORMATION MY VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND ON AND EVERYTHING RETURNED TO NORMAL. AS I MENTIONED THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE AND THEY ARE GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. I SEE NO RECALLS FROM FORD ON THIS ECOBOOST ENGINE.
