I WAS ABOUT TO ENTER HIGHWAY FROM RAMP, TRIED TO ACCELERATE ENGINE STARTED MISSING, LOSS OF POWER HAD TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TRY AGAIN, WAS ALMOST HIT FROM REAR. CONDITIONS, RAIN. *TR
UPON RECEIVING VEHICLE FROM DEALERSHIP IN JULY 2012, ECOBOOST HESITATES, THEN IT TAKES OFF AND GOES FASTER THAN YOU WANT THE VEHICLE TO.THIS HAPPENED MANY TIMES TO PASS VEHICLES OR SPEED UP TO ENTER HIGHWAY FROM ON RAMP. AFTER STARTING AND LETTING SIT FOR MORE THAN 10 MIN., PUTTING IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, VEHICLE RUNS AT HIGH RPM & TAKES OFF ON ITS OWN.UPON STOPPING AT LIGHT/ STOP SIGN, VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FORWARD.UPON TRYING OUT ECOBOOST ON VEHICLE ONE NIGHT, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE FROM ECOBOOST, PRESSED BRAKES,& WOULDN'T STOP, ENDED UP TAKING DOWN A PARTIAL FENCE AND ENDING UP IN A DITCH.TRUCK WOULDN'T GET OUT OF DITCH, EVERY TIME YOU PRESSED ON GAS TO TRY TO GET OUT,EVEN IN 4X4, ECOBOOST KICKS IN & SPINS WHEELS.TRUCK TOWED AND DAMAGE FIXED AT DEALERSHIP BOUGHT FROM.THEY REPAIRED TRUCK PER MY AUTO INSURANCE COVERAGE, BUT WHEN ASKED TO CHECK BRAKES,ECOBOOST, THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY ERRORS PER COMPUTER AND ENGINE IS PERFORMING CORRECTLY. BUT, ENGINE IS NOT AS WE HAVE GONE BACK WITH TRUCK MANY TIMES TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND GET THE SAME ANSWERS.A COMPUTER IS ONLY AS GOOD AS WHAT HUMANS PUT INTO IT.THERE IS AN AFTERMARKET COMPUTER CHIP AVAILABLE AT EXPENSE OF TRUCK OWNER THAT WILL CORRECT THE HESITATION WHEN GOING INTO ECOBOOST, BUT NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM OF THE TRUCK DISENGAGING IMMEDIATELY FROM ECOBOOST WHEN BRAKES ARE PRESSED. FORD SHOULD HAVE PUT COMPUTER CHIP IN ENGINE BEFORE SELLING THE VEHICLE AND MAKING SURE THE ECOBOOST DISENGAGES IMMEDIATELY UPON BRAKING. ALSO, EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CAB WHEN YOU PUT HEAT, DEFROST, A/C ON. THE RECIRCULATE BUTTON HAS TO BE ON ALL THE TIME TO KEEP VEHICLE EXHAUST OUT OF THE CAB INTERIOR. BUT, THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND AN ANSWER FOR THIS PROBLEM EITHER. FORD DEALERSHIP OR FORD DOESN'T SEEM TO BE CONCERNED W/ THESE PROBLEM.READ ON-LINE THAT MANY F150 ECOBOOST TRUCKS BUILT FROM 2/2012 TO 5/2012 HAVE PROBLEMS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN A LIGHT RAIN WHEN I GENTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE STARTED VIBRATING EXCESSIVELY MAKING THE WHOLE TRUCK VIBRATE LIKE THE WHEELS WERE FALLING OFF. THE INCIDENT LASTED ABOUT 10 SECONDS BEFORE IT RETURNED TO ACTING NORMALLY. *TR
BRAND-NEW CAR - 2 DAYS OLD. TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON I-81 AT NIGHT DURING LIGHT RAIN. ENGINE STALLED DURING ACCELERATION ATTEMPT WHILE MERGING FROM THE ON-RAMP ONTO RIGHT LANE OF INTERSTATE, FORCING 18-WHEELER TO BRAKE TO VOID CRUSHING ME. ENGINE RUMBLED WITH VERY LITTLE POWER GETTING TO THE WHEELS, AND RECOVERED TO NORMAL DRIVING MODE WITHIN ABOUT ONE MINUTE. SCARIEST DRIVING EVENT IN MY DECADES OF DRIVING. INTERNET RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 3.5L 6-CYLINDER ECOBOOST IN HUMID WEATHER, DUE TO CONDENSATION IN THE INTERCOOLER BEING SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE, WHEN ACCELERATING SHARPLY (SUCH AS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, LANE CHANGES, ETC., I.E., WHEN FULL ENGINE POWER IS REALLY NEEDED). THIS WILL LEAD TO FATALITIES EVENTUALLY, IF NOT FIXED, BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE NO FIX AVAILABLE FROM FORD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150, EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES, SIZE P275/65/R18. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 22 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WENT FLAT. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRE AND BOTH THE VEHICLE AND TIRE WERE TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A ROAD HAZARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER TIRE WAS ALSO FOUND TO BE FLAT APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AFTER THE INITIAL TIRE FAILURE. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TIRES WERE ONLY FOR HIGHWAY USE AND NOT O BE USED ON A GRAVEL ROAD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,400. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, USUALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED, WET/HUMID CONDITIONS, UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM PERFORM THE WORK OUTLINED IN A TECH BULLETIN FROM FORD BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. JUST YESTERDAY (10/6/13 AT ABOUT 12:25PM APPROX 65 DEGREES F) DRIVING IN LIGHT RAIN ON I-96 NEAR GRAND RAPIDS, MI I ACCELERATED HARD FROM ABOUT 65MPH TO PASS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK SINCE I BOUGHT IT..POWER LOSS AND RUNNING ROUGH...ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 OR 6 TIMES NOW..THEY REPLACED 3 COILS,,3 SPARK PLUGS THAT WERE BURNED UP AND RECENTLY A TURBO COOLER..I TRIED TO GET THEM TO REPLACE ALL THE COILS BUT THEY SAID FORD WOULD NOT DO IT AND THERE WAS NO SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT....I HAVE SINCE SPENT 2500 ON A EXTENDED WARRANTY..TO ME THIS IS SOMETHING FORD SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT BUT DOESNT SEEM TO BE.. *TR
PURCHASED TRUCK NEW APRIL 2012. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE I TRIED TO ACCELERATE PAST A SLOWER VEHICLE. THE TRUCK WOULD HARDLY RUN, LOST POWER AND SPEED. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD ECOBOOST ENGINE. UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT DO MY "HOMEWORK" ON THIS ENGINE PACKAGE. MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET. FORD MOTOR CO. KNOWS AND ADMITS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH CONDENSATION BUILD UP IN THE INTAKE TRACT OF THIS ENGINE. IT HAS BEEN APROBLEM FROM INTRODUCTION. THEY STILL HAVE NOT FOUND A "FIX" FOR THIS DEFECT. SO FAR THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAS WORKED. THIS TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. IF IT IS RAINING WHILE DRIVING, IT WILL HARDLY RUN. IT IS UNSAFE TO OWN OR OPERATE. *TR
2012 F150 3.5 ECOBOOST, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS THE TRUCK SHUDDERS VIOLENTLY AND TEMPORARILY LOSES POWER. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHILE TRAVELING FROM A 40 MPH ZONE INTO A 55 MPH ZONE WITH CLOSELY FOLLOWING TRAFFIC THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUDDER AS DESCRIBED, THEN LOST POWER COMPLETELY CAUSING ME TO COAST TO A STOP. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WAS NEARLY STRUCK FROM BEHIND, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THROTTLE INPUT AND REMAINED IDLING VERY ROUGHLY. I SHUT THE IGNITION OFF, WAITED A FEW MOMENTS AND RE-STARTED THE ENGINE, THEN CONTINUED HOME. I AM BECOMING VERY CONCERNED THAT THESE EVENTS MAY CAUSE A CRASH AND SOMEONE COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED. I'M MAKING AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALER FOR SERVICE BUT AFTER READING MANY FORUMS, I'M NOT OPTIMISTIC THAT THE PROBLEM WILL BE RESOLVED. *TR
F150 ECO BOOST 2012 WILL NOT RUN RIGHT WHEN ITS DAMP OR RAINING IT SHUTTERS AND MISSES WHILE DRIVING IT FORD HAS WORKED ON IT OVER AND OVER AND IT STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUES IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY DON'T CARE. THEY TELL U WHEN U BUY IT THAT IT GET 22MPG BUT IT REALLY GET 12 TO 14 MPG THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST TRUCK I HAVE EVER OWNED. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T FIXED OR ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I'VE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE THE FIRST MONTH OF PURCHASE, FIRST TIME IT STALLED PULLING OUT OF A STOP SIGN WITH MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK, SCARED US TO DEATH. SECOND TIME, MY WIFE AND I WERE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING ON VACATION DRIVING AT NIGHT IN A STEADY RAIN, TRUCK BEGIN TO SHUDDER AND STALLED OUT, HAD TO PULL OVER ABOUT 5 TIMES DURING A 5 HOUR TRIP AND SIT UNTIL IT WOULD CRANK AND RUN AGAIN. WHEN I RETURNED I TOOK INTO FORD, THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS, TRUCK KEPT DOING THE SAME IN A RAIN SO I TOOK BACK TO DEALER AND AFTER THE THIRD OR FOURTH TIME THEY SAID THERE IS A DEFECT AND FORD HAS A NEW PART COMING OUT IN OCTOBER OF 2012, ENDED UP GETTING THE PART INSTALLED IN DECEMBER 2012. TRUCK IS DOING THE SAME THING, JUST STALLED ON ME IN BRANSON, MISSOURI, I CALLED DEALER AND CORPORATE FORD AND GET NOWHERE. I HAVE A COMPLAINT FILE NUMBER WITH FORD CORPORATE ON THIS PROBLEM BUT NO WILL HELP ME OR OFFER ME A NEW TRUCK WITHOUT ECOBOOST. VERY FRUSTRATING TO BUY A BRAND NEW $57K TRUCK AND FIND OUT IT DOES NOT RUN WELL IN THE RAIN AND FORD NEW OF THIS PROBLEM WHEN THEY SOLD IT TO ME IN APRIL 2012. NOW I FIND OUT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT STARTED IN LOUISIANA AND OHIO FOR THE ECO BOOST TRUCKS. DONT REALLY WANT TO GO THIS ROUTE BUT FORD AND AUTONATION-COOK WHITEHEAD FORD DEALER HAS GIVEN ME NO CHOICE. WE NEED TO ALL PUBLICLY LET OUR DEALERS KNOW BY BEING ON THE NEWS OR OTHER MEANS SO FORD WILL STOP SELLING THESE VEHICLES. ITS NOT RIGHT TO TREAT US THIS WAY. *TR
FORD F150 CREW CAB - LARIAT - V6 ECOBOOST ENGINE. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN NOT TOWING, NOT ENGAGED IN 4X4 MODE AND OCCURS RANDOMLY IN WET, DAMP AND DRY CONDITIONS. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60) ON A 70 MPH HIGHWAY, TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO PASS SEMI TRUCK AND TRUCK SHUDDERED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. SPEED DROPPED DRAMATICALLY AND WE WERE ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. ONLY METHOD OF GETTING TRUCK MOVING WAS TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND LET THE TRUCK SIT, TURNED OFF FOR 2 - 3 MINUTES. IT TOOK 5 OR 6 OF THESE STOPS TO GET TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE A TSB WAS REFERRED TO AND IT WAS SUGGESTED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE CONTINUE ON OUR VACATION AND STOP IN TALLAHASSEE TO HAVE A LARGER DEALERSHIP TAKE A LOOK. THE TALLAHASSEE CREW UPDATED THE COMPUTER AND PROVIDED A REPORT FOR BILL CURRIE FORD IN TAMPA, TO INSTALL A SHIELD OF SOME SORT ONCE WE RETURNED, AS THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART IN STOCK. BILL CURRIE SERVICE REPORTED THAT THE SHIELD WAS ALREADY IN PLACE WHEN REPORTED A FEW DAYS LATER. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO BILL CURRIE FORD A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FINAL TIME TO HAVE A FORD TECH DO THE WORK. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. OVERALL THE TRUCK IS LESS THAN IT WAS ADVERTISED. I GOT 18.7MPG WITH MY PREVIOUS 6.2L F150 AND I HAVE YET TO GET MORE THAN 17.8 ON THE ECOBOOST. AROUND TOWN I ALSO GET MUCH LOWER MILEAGE (11.7MPG AS OPPOSED TO 14.9 WITH THE 6.2L ENGINE. THE SHUDDER/LOSS OF POWER OCCURS RANDOMLY AND HAS RESULTED IN NEAR CRASHES AT LEAST 5 TIMES IN THE MONTHS SINCE WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK, ALL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
PULLING AWAY FROM A SIDE STREET MAKING RIGHT TURN MERGING INTO FAST TRAFFIC IN AN ACCESS ROAD WITH CARS MERGING ONTO AND OFF OF THE FREEWAY... PULLED OUT SAFELY AND GAVE IT THE GAS TO MERGE SAFELY IN TO TRAFFIC AND TRUCK ENGINE STUTTERED AND NEARLY SHUT DOWN, LEAVING ME PULLED OUT OF THE SAFETY OF THE STREET BUT RIGHT INTO THE ROADWAY LACKING THE POWER TO GET OFF THE ROAD OR EVEN CONTROL THE TRUCK. THE ENGINE NEARLY SHUT DOWN AND WOULDN'T GO FOR A FEW HUNDRED FEET. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND EVENTUALLY I FEAR THAT IT WILL CAUSE A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. I DISCUSSED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ASSURE ME THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THAT ENGINE OR MY SPECIFIC TRUCK. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS TO BE THE TRUTH OR AN ACCEPTABLE APPROACH TO MY PURCHASE OF A BRAND NEW VEHICLE OR MY SAFETY. THEY COULD NOT SHOW ME A LIST OF ANYTHING THEY ACTUALLY DID TO CHECK IT OUT AND FORD WON'T HELP EITHER. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING ON AN ON-RAMP TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON I-90, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE VIBRATED VERY HARD, THE ENGINE THEN LOST POWER, CAUSING ELECTRIC TO SHUT DOWN, AND UNCONTROLLED DECELERATION TO OCCUR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH. ONCE I RELEASED THE PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL, AND PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE POWER RETURNED AND THE ENGINE RESPONDED AGAIN. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE PROBLEM AND WAS REPLACED. NOTIFIED FORD REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT CONCERNS THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, HE RESPONDED THAT THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY, AND NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE DESPITE ACKNOWLEDGING THAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT DUE TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, AND APPARENTLY THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS NOT UPDATED AS REQUIRED. AFTER THE UPDATE, IT WORKED FINE. IN DECEMBER 2012, SIMILAR SYMPTOMS OCCURRED AND THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED IT WAS THE COIL IN ENGINE 4 AS THE PROBLEM. *TR
IN DAMP CONDITIONS THE F-150 WITH THE ECO BOOST ENGINE HAS A SEVERE VIBRATION AND LOSS OF POWER PROBLEM WHEN THE TURBO CHARGERS ARE CALLED FOR. IN OTHERWORDS WHEN YOU STRONGLY ACCELERATE TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRUCK DIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED BY THE SYSTEM, THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WAS SEVERELY REDUCED AND ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL CRASHES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE A RECORDING DEVICE WAS ATTACHED, INDICATING THAT THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN, IN FACT, HE DID NOT. THE BRAKES AND SEVERAL PARTS WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
ON MAY 23, 2012 WE PURCHASED A NEW FORD F-150 FROM BEECHMONT FORD IN CINCINNATI AND TOOK TITLE IN THE STATE OF KENTUCKY. THE TRUCK WAS FITTED WITH 4 PIRELLI SCORPION TIRES. WITHIN THE FIRST 3000 MILES WE HAD 3 SIDEWALL TIRE FAILURES. WITH THE FIRST SIDE WALL FAILURE WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BAD LUCK AND HAD TO BUY ANOTHER MATCHING TIRE FOR OVER $200.00. WE SUBSEQUENTLY HAD 2 MORE SIDEWALL FAILURES AND WERE FORCED TO BUY A FULL SET OF NEW TIRES AT A COST OF OVER $1300.00 PIRELLI HAS CONSISTENTLY DENIED AND BLAME AND REFUSED ANY FORM OF REIMBURSEMENT. WHEN MY WIFE RETURNED THE FIRST TIRE TO BEECHMONT FORD, SHE WAS APPROACHED BY ANOTHER CUSTOMER WHO WAS THERE WITH A PIRELLI NEW SIDEWALL TIRE FAILURE. A MONTH OR SO LATER, I WAS HAVING THE OIL CHANGED ON THE TRUCK AND I WAS TELLING THE OIL CREW ABOUT THE PIRELLI TIRE NIGHTMARE AND THE GUY IN THE ?PIT? ASKED IF THE TIRES WERE ?PIRELLI SCORPION TIRES? AND I SAID YES, WHY? HE RESPONDED ?A LADY WAS JUST IN HERE WITH THE SAME SIDEWALL FLAT TIRE ON A NEW CADILLAC. PIRELLI CONSISTENTLY DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM AND THEY DID NOT BOTHER TO ASK FOR A LOT NUMBER. I FIGURE I AM OUT 2 ROADSIDE FLAT TIRES, $1300 IN NEW TIRES ON A NEW TRUCK THAT WAS NOT OFF/ROAD, ACCIDENTAL DISCOVERIES OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME TIRE FROM OTHER OWNERS AND YET, PIRELLI DENIES ALL. HOPEFULLY, OTHERS MAY BE SPARED THIS EXPENSE AND INCONVENIENCE AND RISK AND PIRELLI IS FORCED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND THEIR WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150 ECO BOOST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY AND EXHIBITING NOISES JUST AS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THIS LEFT MY FAMILY AND I SITTING IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE ON A BLIND CORNER. THE TRUCK DID NOT DIE (I THOUGHT IT DID), I MASHED ACCELERATOR TO FLOOR AND TRUCK DID NOT RESPOND WHATSOEVER. MY WIFE WAS SCREAMING FRANTICALLY AT ME ASKING WHAT I WAS DOING WHILE I ATTEMPTED TO GET THE TRUCK TO MOVE OUT OF THE ONCOMING LANE. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS THE TRUCK REGAINED POWER AND ACCELERATED NORMALLY. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3X NOW AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK BUT DO AND MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE IT AT ALL. SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF THE ECOBOOST F150 HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS PRECISE PROBLEM. FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM AND HAS PROMISED A FIX FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS. WHILE THE TRUCK HAS OTHER MAJOR ISSUES THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM IS GOING TO RESULT IN DEATHS. IT'S NOT A MATTER OF IF, BUT WHEN. *TT
WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRUCK BOGGED. RPM OF ENGINE INCREASE TRUCK DID NOT. LET OFF GAS AND DEPRESSED TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ON INTERSTATE. HAD TO PULL OVER AND SHUT TRUCK OFF TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I HAVE DOCUMENTED EACH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED WITH MORE DETAILS EACH TIME. FORD HAS LOOKED AT TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES. LATEST WORD IS THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, STARTED A TSB HOWEVER THERE ISN'T A FIX AVAILABLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING ESPECIALLY ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN CHANGING LANES OR MERGING FROM RAMP. THERE IS NOT ANY WARNING AND SCARES THE DEVIL OUT OF THE DRIVER. *TR
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT I AM NOT SURE TO LIST THIS UNDER ENGINE OR STEERING EITHER WAY I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME SHAKING AND SHUDDERING THAT I WAS BEFORE. FORD FIXED THE SO CALLED INTERCOOLER PROBLEM BUT NOW IT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SHAKING. IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I FIRST START OUT DRIVING IN THE MORNING THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHAKE AND SHUDDER WHILE DRIVING AT SOW SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 45 MPH IT EVEN DID THIS YESTERDAY AT 5 MPH. IF YOU RESEARCH THIS COMPLAINT THERE ARE 1000S F COMPLAINTS ONLINE ESPECIALLY ON THE FORD F150 FORUM. ALSO MY GAS MILEAGE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AT 13 TO 14 MPG AND THAT'S ON 45 AND 55 MPH ROADS IN THE COUNTRY. THE SHAKING OCCURS VIOLENTLY MAKING THE VEHICLE HARD TO CONTROL CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY WHERE THE VEHICLE WILL SLOW DOWN TO 35 MPH. *TR

THE PROBLEM IS, WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS & CAUSES A BUMP, OR A PUSH. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME, I THOUGHT SOMEONE REAR ENDED ME! IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN WHILE YOU'RE AT A DEAD STOP. THE TRUCK ACTUALLY LURCHES FORWARD. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" FOR THE 6 SPD. TRANSMISSION IN MY FORD. VEHICLE SINCE BRAND NEW HAS A STUTTERING/STALLING ISSUE AT 55MPH AND THE DEW POINT IS HIGH. ATTEMPTING TO PASS A VEHICLE ACCELERATING FROM 55MPH AND THE TRUCK EITHER STUTTERS OR STALLS. THIS ALMOST CAUSED A HEAD-ON COLLISION. I AM SCARED TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC OR PASS ANYONE DUE TO THE INHERENT ISSUE. FORD DID REPLACE A INTERCOOLER/CAC FOLLOWING TSB 12-10-19. THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. WE. I RETURNED THE TRUCK STILL BROKE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME HE HAS THE SAME TRUCK AND THAT IT IS AN INHERENT ENGINE PROBLEM FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED BUT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I AM WORRIED EVERYDAY I MIGHT DIE DRIVING MY TRUCK AND EVEN MORE UPSET THAT I PAY MONTHLY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS BROKE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF THE ENGINE POWER. THE DRIVER DECELERATED WITH FORCE AND THEN MANEUVERED INTO THE NEXT LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ENGINE POWER REDUCED SLIGHTLY SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS WHO WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND ACCELERATING, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE TRUCK ENGINE ALMOST DIED. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE, MAINLY WHEN I ACCELERATE QUICKLY AS IN TRYING TO PASS A CAR. IT COULD EASILY GET SOMEONE KILLED. THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR COME UP WITH A FIX BECAUSE THERE ARE NO CODES SHOWING EVEN THOUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS I HAVE CHECKED THE F150FORUM.COM AND ITS EVIDENT THAT THIS PROBLEM IS RAMPANT WITH THIS ENGINE.. *TR
