MY 2013 F150 ECO BOOST STARTED CUTTING OUT WHILE DRIVING HOME, THE WRENCH ILLUMINATED THEN THE CHECK ENGINE AS THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. IF I WOULD OF BEEN ON THE FREEWAY OR PULLING SOMETHING I WOULD'VE BEEN DEAD. AFTER COASTING OFF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO RESTART, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND WAS CUTTING OUT. I ONLY HAD TO GO 2 MILES TO GET HOME. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE MILEAGE IT WASN'T COVERED, BUT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH FORD HAD RECALLED THIS ON A FEW VEHICLES, BUT NOT THIS ONE YET. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE IT JUST SHUT THE ENGINE OFF ON YOU. IF YOU'RE IN TRAFFIC OR PULLING THERE WOULD BE A SEVERE PROBLEM. I'M STILL CONCERNED WHEN I PULL. I HOPE THAT FORD RECALLS THIS!!!
THROTTLE BODY FAILED ON MY PICKUP WHILE DRIVING. WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND ENGINE WOULDN'T REV UP. HAD TO SHUT OFF AND RESTART MULTIPLE TIMES IN ORDER TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOP. SCANNED IT AND HAD CODE P2112 THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY AND SEEMS TO BE OK NOW. GLAD I WAS JUST PUTTING ALONG WHEN IT HAPPENED OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE, THERE WAS HESITATION AND A RAPID REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER AS THE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THREE MINUTES LATER, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ECOBOOSTER ENGINE CAC DETECTOR SHIELD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,987.
I WANTED TO MAKE YOUR OFFICE AWARE AND SEEK ANY ASSISTANCE YOU MAY BE ABLE TO OFFER REGARDING A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE FORD ECOBOOST ENGINE FOUND IN MANY TRUCKS IN OUR STATE. RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND ENDED UP BEHIND A SLOW MOVING TRACTOR TRAILER. WHEN GETTING TO A PROPER PASSING ZONE, I ACCELERATED TO PASS THE VEHICLE. JUST ABOUT THE TIME I WAS ALONGSIDE IT, MY TRUCK (A 2013 F150 ECOBOOS WITH ABOUT 78K MILES) STARTED SHUDDERING, A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT DRASTICALLY REDUCED POWER ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS APPROACHING FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION (THIS TOOK SEVERAL SECONDS - THE PASSING ZONE WAS ENTIRELY CLEAR WHEN I STARTED THE MANEUVER). I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR REPAIRS ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS FROM A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AFFECTING CONDENSATION IN THE COOLING UNIT OF THE TURBOS. FORD HAD ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB-14-0017) REGARDING THE ISSUE BUT NO RECALLS MADE NOR ANY CUSTOMER NOTIFICATIONS SENT OUT. I HAVE NOTIFIED FORD AND REQUESTED 1) THEY REIMBURSE THE COST OF REPAIRS; 2) ISSUE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL FOR THIS MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT; AND 3) IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY OWNERS OF THEIR PRODUCT AS TO THE POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD OCCUR WHEN PUTTING THE ENGINE UNDER A HEAVY RPM LOAD. ADDITIONALLY, I AM ASKING IF YOUR OFFICE CAN FOLLOW UP WITH THIS REQUEST TO ENSURE THAT SOMEONE DOESN'T ENCOUNTER THE SAME BAD SITUATION OR WORSE. WHEN I TURN ON AND PLACE THE TRUCK IN DRIVE, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP TO WHERE I CANT USE STEERING WHEEL, I GET A ERROR ON DASH STATING "ASSIST POWER STEERING FAILURE. I PLACE TRUCK IN PARK AND TURN VEHICLE OFF, AND RESTART AND PROBLEM SEEMS FINE, UNTIL STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING AND I GET THIS SAME ERROR. FORD DEALER IS CHARGING ME $2000 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR CRASH. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD HAVE THIS RECALLED AND PAY FOR THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A TWO LANE ROAD, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT, SIDESWIPING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
THREE TIMES OVER A 2 YEAR PERIOD I HAVE STARTED TO PASS SLOW MOVING VEHICLES ON TWO LANE HIGHWAYS AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO DIE AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING.
AS I CAME BACK FROM DROPPING OF THE KIDS AT SCHOOL, 06 JUNE, I WAS DRIVING INTO THE HOUSE COMPLEX WHEN THE BREAKS FAILED. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. I USED THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. ONCE I STOPPED I THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO MY DRIVE WAY USING THE EMERGENCY BREAK. I WAS LUCKY IT WAS NOT BUSY. I CONTACT FORD TO SEE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THE RECALL WAS NOT GOING TO COME OUT TILL JULY. FORD GOT ME IN CONTACT WITH THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP, VIVA FORD, TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PICK UP THE TRUCK ON 07 JUNE. THE PROBLEM IS THE FLUID LEAKS INTO THE MASTER CYLINDER. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT FORD DOES NOT COVER RENTALS. THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL TRY TO HELP ME WITH A LOANER. NOW I'M STUCK WITH NO VEHICLE, MISSED A DAY OF WORK AND STILL HAVE TO WAIT IF A LOANER VEHICLE COMES AVAILABLE.
WHILE ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE THE TRUCK SHUTTERED VIOLENTLY AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE DRIVE TRAIN. MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10-15 SECONDS. TAPPED ACCELERATOR 2 TIMES AND MOTOR WOULD REV UP BUT TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE AGAIN UNTIL THIRD ATTEMPT. I HAVE MY TRUCK SERVICED REGULARLY, THIS IS NOT A LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID ISSUE AND SEEMS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE REPORTED BY OTHER F150 OWNERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS ALMOST HIT IN THE REAR AFTER THIS HAPPENED. THE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURRED; HOWEVER, AFTER GOING TO THE DEALER AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF THE SERVICE LIGHT DID NOT REAPPEAR WHEN STARTED AGAIN.
ON 6/5/2016 THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. WE WERE NEAR HAROLD FORD IN SACRAMENTO, CA, SO WE DROPPED THE TRUCK OFF FOR REPAIR. ON 6/6/2016, THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WERE REPLACED.
FRONT BRAKE ASSEMBLY ENGAGED AND DID NOT FULLY RELEASE CAUSING THE PAD AND CALIPER TO EVENTUALLY GRIND THRU TO METAL DESTROYING THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY. HAD TO HAVE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY REPLACED AND TECH STATED IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE.
BATTERY WARNING LIGHT COMES. HEAD LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS SURGE. BATTERY IS DEAD THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I GO TO START MY TRUCK. BE TO FOUR GARAGES TWO WHERE FORD CERTIFIED GARAGES.
IN ALL BRAKING SCENARIOS, BE IT FROM 55MPH+ TO 0 OR JUST A PARTIAL SLOW DOWN THE TRUCK BEGINS TO SHAKE AND SHIMMY VIGOROUSLY. IT AFFECTS STEERING, STOPPING DISTANCE AND IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. THE ISSUE IS AT ITS PEAK WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT ANY RED LIGHT OR TRYING TO BRAKE AND TURN AT THE SAME TIME. ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED AND SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN FORD ROTORS AS THE BRAKE PADS ARE OVER 80% AS STATED BY A FORD REPRESENTATIVE.
FORD BRAKE RECALL # 16V345 I WANT TO REPORT THAT THE DAY AFTER I RECEIVED YOUR WARNING NOTICE, MY BRAKE'S FAILED. I WAS LUCKY THAT IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT 2 MPH AND NOT ON I-95 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DOING 65 MPH AND TOWING A CAMPER. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A RECALL NOTICE ON MY VEHICLE YET. HOWEVER, BECAUSE THEY HAD JUST DONE A COMPLETE BRAKE OVERHAUL ON IT IN MARCH, THEY ONLY CHARGED ME A $ 100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. THEY DID SAY THAT IF I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD, I COULD ASK FOR A REFUND OF THE DEDUCTIBLE. I HAVE ATTACHED THE INVOICES FROM BOTH TRANSACTIONS. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE FROM YOU REGARDING THIS AND ANY MORE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOORBOARD AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
VEHICLE RUNS GREAT MOST OF THE TIME, BUT WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS IN THE RAIN, SNOW, HUMID OR MISTING CONDITIONS, THE TRUCK WILL SOMETIMES LOOSE POWER AND START SHAKING/STUTTERING WHEN ACCELERATING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, OR WHEN CLIMBING A HILL. MOST OF TIME, IT IS A VERY SLIGHT SHUDDER BUT WHEN UNDER HEAVY THROTTLE, THE ENGINE WILL START CUTTING OUT, LOOSE POWER AND SPEED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL START FLASHING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I WILL HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SLOWER LANE OF TRAFFIC, OR ONTO THE SHOULDER. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL EITHER GO OUT, OR COME ON SOLID. IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN THIS HAPPENS BUT IT HAS HAPPENED ENOUGH TIMES THAT I ALMOST EXPECT IT WHEN THE CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT FOR IT TO OCCUR. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO VARIOUS FORD DEALERSHIPS AS I AM USUALLY OUT OF TOWN ON VACATION WHEN IT HAPPENS. THEY HAVE APPLIED ALL THE TSB'S RECOMMENDED BY FORD MOTOR, BUT OBVIOSITY THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE ISSUE ON DEMAND AND APPARENTLY CAN'T CORRECT IT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND I WOULD SUPPORT A TOTAL RECALL OF ALL ECOBOOST VEHICLES UNTIL CORRECTED.

CONTINUED LACK OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING. SEVERAL TIMES WHILE IN A TURNING LANE, I CAN HIT THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE GOES TO A COMPLETE SHUT DOWN OF POWER. I HAVE READ THE RELATED ENGINE ISSUES HERE, BUT AS A MECHANICAL ENGINEER, I CAN TELL YOU THIS IS A TURBO ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME SEVERAL ACCIDENTS DUE TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE LACK OF POWER FROM ENGINE THAT CAUSES LACK OF MOVEMENT FROM THE TRUCK. THE LACK OF POWER LAST FOR 1 TO 5 SECONDS AND IT IS THE SAME IN WET OR DRY WEATHER. I WANT THIS RESOLVED.
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. I HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS, PADS AND ADD BRAKE FLUID YESTERDAY TO MY 2013 F-150 WITH THE 3.5 LITER TURBO BOOST. I HAVE THE RECEIPTS! I WAS TOLD THAT THE FLUID WAS EXTREMELY LOW, PADS WERE CRACKED AND THE ROTORS WERE WRAPPED. I SPENT OVER $700.00 AND I HAVE LESS THAN 54, 000 MILES ON THIS TRUCK. WORST BRAKES I HAVE EVER HAD, NOW THE BRAKES ARE SPONGY AND THE TECH. HAS NO CLUE WHY; BRAKES WERE BLEED TWICE BUT STILL SAME ISSUE.

THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I STARTED UP MY TRUCK FOR THE DAY. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING CONTROL AND THE BLINKERS STOPPED WORKING. MY TRUCK IS A 2013 F-150 WITH ONLY 38,000 MILES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT AND YOU, THE NHTSA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. IT IS TIME THAT SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. IS EVERYBODY GOING TO WAIT LIKE GM DID UNTIL THERE ARE MULTIPLE FATALITIES BEFORE THIS IS ADDRESSED? DO SOMETHING!
TRUCK STALLED MOMENTARILY WHILE NEGOTIATING AN INTERSECTION. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO CHECK FOR ISSUES. WHEN I TRIED TO RE-START THE TRUCK IT WOULD TURN OVER BUT WOULDN'T START. I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR THE PROCEDURE TO RE-SET THE FUEL SHUT OFF SWITCH BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED BY SOMETHING. TRUCK STILL WOULD NOT START AFTER FOLLOWING PROCEDURE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO HUNT FORD IN FRANKLIN KY. A SERVICE TECHNICIAN CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY TO INFORM ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY HAD MELTED AND THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ABOUT THE ISSUE AND A FIX FOR IT WHICH INCLUDED INSTALLING AN INLINE FUSE TO KEEP THE RELAY FROM MELTING AGAIN. THE REPAIR COST $210 AND THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THAT MY TRUCK WAS SECOND ONE THAT THEY HAD FIXED WITH THIS SAME ISSUE THAT DAY! WHILE IT WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME, IT DEFINITELY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE ONE.
BRAKES REQUIRING FREQUENT SERVICE WITH BRAKE PADS BREAKING ON PASSENGER SIDE AND ROTORS NEEDING TURNING. WE HAVE 50,000 MILES ON TRUCK AND BRAKES ARE SCRUBBING AGAIN. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH TIME WE HAVE HAD TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
THE TRUCK WILL DOWN SHIFT WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES NOW. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30MPH AND EXPERIENCED A DROP IN POWER AND THE GAUGES STARTED JUMPING ALL OVER. IT ALSO DROPPED TO 1ST GEAR WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 70 MPH. IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE THREW THE E-BREAK. QUICK JERKING MOTION. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF. THANKFULLY MY FAMILY WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AND NO ONE WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND ME. THE FEW OTHER TIMES IT HAPPENED I NOTICED SOMETHING GOING WRONG SO I QUICKLY PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT IT DOWN. TURNING IT OFF SEEMED TO "RESET" THINGS AND LET ME GET HOME. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC RAN AND IT CODED #4 SPARK PLUG AND #4 COIL. I HAD BOTH OF THOSE REPLACED - AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE THE VERY NEXT DAY! RAN ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC AND IT CODED THE SAME WAY! TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT AND THEIR FINAL ANSWER WAS "NEEDS A NEW ENGINE". IT HAS 110K MILES ON IT AND I BOUGHT IT LESS THAN 1 YEAR AGO AND IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE? I HAVE $700 WRAPPED UP IN REPLACING PARTS THAT DID NOT NEED REPLACING AND DIAGNOSTICS THAT DID NOT GIVE ME A REALISTIC SOLUTION. THIS DOES NOT SOUND LIKE AN ENGINE ISSUE- SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO THE RECENT RECALL ON THE 2011-2012 MODELS. TRUCK IS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO ONE IN MY FAMILY WILL BE DRIVING IT. HOPE TO HEAR THAT FORD RECOGNIZES THE BIGGER ISSUE HERE AND STEPS UP TO TAKE CARE OF THIS.
BOTH TAIL LIGHT LAMP ASSEMBLYS HAVE STRESS CRACKS AND MOISTURE IS PRESENT IN ONE OF THEM. I ONLY HAVE 14000 MILES AND TODAY THE DEALER SAID IT'S NOT A WARRANTY ITEM. NOTICED IT AROUND 12000 MILES.
WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED INTO A LOW GEAR ENOUGH TO MAKE THE TIRES BARK, THEN WITHIN SECONDS WHILE ASSESSING WHAT HAPPENED IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. IF A CAR HAD BEEN FOLLOWING WITHIN 3 OR 4 CAR LENGTHS THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A COLLISION. THE ACTION WAS SEVERE AND ABRUPT. THE MOTOR NEVER SHUT OFF, BUT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR TWICE BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND WORK MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER.
I GET THE ENGINE CODE P0301 WHICH IS AN ENGINE MISFIRE WHEN DRIVING IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. THE TRUCK ENGINE STUMBLES AND HAS REDUCED POWER WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION ESPECIALLY WHEN I TRY TO PULL A CARGO TRAILER.
FORD 2013 F-150 BOTH FRONT SHOCKS LEAKING AT 32,000 MILES. DEALER STATES THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. WARRANTY EXPIRED JAN 2016. EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERS MCPHERSON STRUT BUT NOT THE LEAKY SHOCK INSIDE THE STRUT ASSY. CORPORATE FORD STATES THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS THEY HAVE RELEASED A TECH SERVICE ADVISORY ABOUT WEEPING STRUTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STOPPED; HOWEVER, THE PARKING BRAKE HAD TO BE DEPRESSED. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS DEPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
VEHICLES HAS SEVERAL TIMES AFTER BEING AT A STOP, VEHICLE WILL NOT ENGAGE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE ENGINE RPM'S, BUT IS LIKE IT IS NEUTRAL AND SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 0. VEHICLE WILL ROLL, BUT STOPS IN MIDDLE OF ROAD, INTERSECTION OR SHOULDER IF ENOUGH SPEED BEFORE IT STOPS. BROUGHT VEHICLE IN 2 TIMES AND KINSEL FORD DEALERSHIP CAN'T GET IT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. CALLED FORD MOTOR AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN'T HELP ME UNTIL A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN SEES IT. WAS TOLD I NEED TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL IT DOES THIS AGAIN AND CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND DON'T RESTART SO CODES WON'T CLEAR. I FEEL THIS WAS UNSAFE BECAUSE VEHICLE CAN STALL IN A INTERSECTION AND CAUSE A CAUSE A WRECK. FORD TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T HELP ME UNTIL THEY COULD ACTUALLY SEE THIS PROVE. I HAVE TO HAVE A VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT UNTIL IT DOES IT SO I CAN GET THIS FIXED.
ON 05/03/16 I WENT TO BRING MY 9500LB RV HOME FROM STORAGE. WHILE DRIVING TO THE LOT THE TRUCK BRAKES WERE FINE. AFTER HOOKING UP THE RV TO THE TRUCK AND PULLING OUT OF THE LOT THE BRAKES WERE STILL FINE. BUT AS I APPROACHED A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES AND NOTHING WAS THERE, NO BRAKES AT ALL. RED LIGHTS ON THE DASH WAS THE ONLY WARNING I GOT, BUT NOT UNTIL IT WAS TO LATE. IF NOT FOR THE RV HAVING BRAKES I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE RV HOME. I PUT FLUID IN THE BRAKE RESERVOIR. I THEN DROVE DOWN THE STREET (WITHOUT RV) WITH BRAKES BUT AFTER THE THIRD STOP I LOST ALL BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THEM FIX THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING ALL FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, AND WHEN THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE BOOSTER HE POURED FLUID FROM THE BOOSTER. BEFORE I LEFT MY HOUSE I FOUND NO WET BRAKES OR FLUID IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OR ON THE GROUND. I WAS TOLD THE SAME BY THE MECHANIC. I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND TOLD HIM OF THE ISSUE AND HE STATED BECAUSE I WAS OUTSIDE MY WARRANTY (45000 MILES) IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN COVERED. HE MADE NO MENCHIN OF THE POSSIBLE BRAKE ISSUES. I WENT ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION. I'M WRITING YOU TODAY TO LET YOU KNOW THIS IS HAPPENING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I HAVE ALL THE PARTS AND THE REPAIR COST ME 873.26. ALL STREETS WERE LOCAL STREETS. SEVERAL TRAFFIC LIGHTS. MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER FAILED, ALLOWING BRAKE FLUID TO ENTER BRAKE BOOSTER, RESULTING IN BRAKE FAILURE. BRAKE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED, WAS STILL ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE, BUT BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD.
A CRACK APPEARED ON 4/26/16 BEGINNING AT THE LOWER SEAL OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND EXTENDING ABOUT 8" UPWARD. THE CRACK WAS FIRST NOTED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 HOURS. THERE ARE NO NICKS PRESENT THAT MIGHT INDICATE THIS WAS CAUSED BY ROAD DEBRIS.
WHILE DRIVING, INCLUDING BUT NOT ALWAYS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE DURING HEAVY FAST TRAFFIC, AND INCLUDING BUT NOT ALWAYS WHILE PULLING A TRAILER, THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON, THE TRUCK ABRUPTLY ENTERS "LIMP" MODE REQUIRING RAPID PULLING OFF THE HIGHWAY IN ORDER TO STOP AND RESTART THE ENGINE, AND THEN A DANGEROUS PULLING BACK ON THE HIGHWAY FROM THE BREAKDOWN LANE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING A THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT #BL3Z-9E926-B, BUT I AM TOLD BY A FORD DEALER THAT THERE ARE ABOUT 3300 OTHERS WAITING FOR THIS PART AND THAT THEY ARE SO BACKLOGGED THAT NO DELIVERY DATE IS YET IN THEIR SYSTEM. RAPID, UNEXPECTED, AND REPEATED LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING IS VERY DANGEROUS.
TRUCK SHIFTS UP & DOWN BY SELF. JERKS HARD WHEN SHIFTING. WHEN STOPPED SPEEDO GOES TO 30 TO 50 AND SHOWS IN 3RD GEAR. AT START IN THIS SITUATION IT JUMPS VIOLENTLY FORWARD. WHEN TRYING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR. RESTART AND TAKE BACK ROADS AS IT IS NOT SAFE IN TRAFFIC OR WHERE THERE ARE PEDESTRIANS AT A CROSS WALK. PHIL LONG FORD DENVER IS WAITING TO HEAR FROM FORD. FORD HAS STARTED A CASE REPORT ON THIS VEHICLE BUT HAS NOT RESPONDED. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A BIG SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GOES UP OVER 200 DEGREES F. THE PROBLEMS HAPPEN WHILE STOPPED, STOPPING, STARTING HIGHWAYS OR SECONDARY ROADS, THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST MONTH.
WHILE ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE HAS SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN TO A LOWER GEAR, AND FLASHED A WRENCH SYMBOL ON THE DASHBOARD. WHEN THIS OCCURS, ALL DASHBOARD INDICATORS ZERO OUT AND SPEED DROPS DRASTICALLY. THIS HAS OCCURED ON BOTH A CITY STREET AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TIME IT OCCURED ONE THE HIGHWAY, I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE SECOND TIME THE ISSUE OCCURRED, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP. THEY INSPECTED AND DISCOVERED DTC CODE P0722 AND DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS DUE TO A FAULTY LEAD CONNECTOR. MY OWN RESEARCH REVEALED A RECALL FOR THE 2011 AND 2012 MODEL YEAR F150S TO FIX THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, A FAULTY SPEED SENSOR. NOW I'M PAYING $650 FOR SOMETHING THAT'S BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHER MODEL YEARS.
MY LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON THIS MORNING AND MY BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY OUT WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK. NO SIGN OF LEAKING. FILLED BRAKE FLUID WENT TO WORK CAME OUT TO GET LUNCH AND BRAKE FLUID GONE AND LIGHT ON AGAIN. NO SIGN OF LEAK. 2013 F150 LIMITED WITH THE 3.5L V6 ENGINE. COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS INCIDENT AS I LIVE ON VERY BUSY ROADS. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING, I HAVE 2 TODDLERS I DRIVE AND PICK UP FROM SCHOOL EVERYDAY.
REAR WINDOW WAS ROLLED DOWN WHILE 2 1/2 YEAR OLD CHILD HAD HIS ARM AGAINST THE INTERIOR DOOR, WHERE IT MEETS THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW. THE SKIN OF THE CHILD'S FOREARM WAS SUCKED INTO THE VEHICLE'S DOOR. CHILD WAS TRAPPED UNTIL WINDOW WAS ROLLED BACK UP. BRUISING OCCURRED BUT THE SKIN WAS NOT BROKEN. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND PARKED IN A LOT.
ON 4/16/2016 I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LOW WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS. WITNESS STATED THAT THEY SAW MY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON BUT MY VEHICLE DIDN'T SLOW DOWN. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THIS AND THEY HAD THE "WE DON'T CARE" ATTITUDE. MY TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND HAS HAD 99% OF ALL MAINTENANCE DONE THROUGH FORD.
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

THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
REMOTE STARTED MY PICKUP ON A COLD MORNING. DOING THIS IT AUTOMATICALLY TURNS ON THE DEFROSTERS AND THE ONE IN THE REAR WINDOW. WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND HEAR A LOUD POP. WASN'T UNTIL THAT NIGHT THAT I NOTICED THAT LOUD POP WAS A REAR WINDOW SHATTERING. SOMETHING WITH THE DEFROSTER IN THE BACK WINDOW MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE GLASS TO SHATTER. IN PICTURES YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT NO OBJECT STRUCK THE WINDOW BECAUSE THERE IS NO INDENTATIONS.
I WAS DRIVING AND MADE A RIGHT TURN AND THE POWER STEERING GAVE OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS. THEN ONCE I STRAIGHTENED BACK OUT I COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BUT CAN HAPPEN WHEN TURNING EITHER WAY.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 50MPH THE TRUCK SUDDENLY SHIFTED FROM 5TH GEAR TO 1ST GEAR CAUSING THE REAR WHEELS TO LOOSE TRACTION AND LOSS OF CONTROL INTO ON COMING CARS IN A TURN LANE. AFTER A FEW SECONDS NOTICING THE RPM'S REACHED 6800 THE TRUCK SHIFTED TO 3RD GEAR AND I WAS ABLE TO AVOID IMPACT. NO TROUBLE LIGHTS OR ANY INDICATIONS WERE GIVEN. I'M FILING A COMPLAINT TO SEE IF ANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS YEAR TRUCK ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS A RECALL 16S19 FOR 2011-2012 FORD TRUCKS BUT WHEN ASKING FORD ABOUT MY 2013 DOING THE SAME THING I GET SHUNNED. THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE DOWN SHIFT HAS RESULTED IN THE TRUCK NEEDING A COMPLETE NEW TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS STATED BY FORD'S FIELD SERVICE REP. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALER SINCE APRIL 18TH AND IS STILL NOT DRIVABLE AFTER 2 DIFFERENT ATTEMPTS TO FIXING THE PROBLEM.
AFTER TOWING TRUCK TO DEALER AFTER A CRANK NO START, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS MELTED FUSE F27 WHICH POWERS THE FUEL PUMP. SURPRISINGLY THIS FUSE HAS MELTED OFTEN ENOUGH THAT FORD HAS A SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED REWORK KIT P/N EL3Z-14293-A WHICH RELOCATES THE FUSE TO A DIFFERENT SPOT IN THE FUSE BOX WHERE A PHYSICALLY LARGER BUT IDENTICAL AMPERAGE FUSE IS USED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, SOME OF THE OTHER AFFECTED VEHICLES WITH THE MELTED F27 EXPERIENCED STALLING WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. OTHERS HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX DUE TO MELTING. IT SEEMS THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED OFTEN ENOUGH THAT THERE IS AN OFFICIAL TSB FROM FORD (TSB-15-0137) AS WELL AS THE ABOVE MENTIONED REWORK KIT, WHICH MY DEALER HAD IN STOCK. BASED ON THE WORK PERFORMED (MOVING THE FUSE TO A DIFFERENT SPOT IN THE FUSE BOX AND REPLACING IT WITH A PHYSICALLY LARGER FUSE OF THE SAME AMPERAGE), IT SEEMS THAT THIS ISSUE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS LIKE A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT FORD IS MAKING CUSTOMERS PAY TO FIX.
