I was on the recall list and got my OSS sensor reprogrammed at a Ford dealership in August of 2024. November 6, 2024 I was driving down the FRWY at 65 miles an hour. There was a jolt and RPMS dropped to zero, speedometer dropped to zero yet truck was still traveling at a high rate of speed. My info area just gave blank dashes. It was like the things on my dashboard just stopped registering, and eventually a wrench flashed across the screen. My gas pedal was not responding, and I could not accelerate when I pressed the gas. Luckily I was able to coast off of the FRWY with emerg. flashers on without accident. I had to stop at a red light on service road and after stopping truck did not accelerate at light. I turned off the engine and restarted and was able to slowly accelerate at slow speed to make it home. The next morning I took the truck straight to the dealership (maxing at about 20mph- gas just wasn't accelerating like normal) and was told it needed replacement of the transmission electrical frame. I told them about the recall that I recently had reprogramed (august to November 6). The dealership claimed that the recall update and the transmission electrical frame failure was unrelated. They claimed that the transmission electrical frames commonly went out on these trucks and were a known problem but it hasn't been enough to produce a recall. I had to pay about 2k to get my truck fixed. The dealership said if there ever was a recall then I would be reimbursed for the part. What happened to me on that freeway of not being able to accelerate at all was very dangerous as I could not accelerate at all. It was not safe for me to continue on the freeway (or any road really) as my vehicle basically stalled out on me while driving and would not go at all until restarted. I'm very grateful that I was able to get out of that situation safely.

The Main Control/Lead Frame failed and yes, I took my 2014 F150 to Mac Haik Ford Dealership in Pasadena, TX to inspect the vehicle after the recall had been done on 8/30/2024. The service guy came to my house and reprogrammed the Powertrain Control Module. The safety issue was unexpected or harsh downshifting and sometimes it wouldn't start. The problem was confirmed by the Ford Dealership, which cost us over $1700 to fix, we thought it had something to do with the recall. 2011-2012 F150 had problems with the Main Control/Lead Frame and they were recalled, so I don't understand why there is a safety issue with the same part in 2014. It was inspected by the Ford Dealership and fixed. Before we took our truck in to find out what was wrong an engine light came on and then after that a wrench light came on. This happened while we were driving and after the lights came on the transmission downshifted. So we went home and called Ford and took the truck in on 9/24/2024
Complete loss of steering. Dealer said it was a steering sensor failure but that my vin was not included in the recall for the sensor. From ford: Ford is revising the total volumes of a safety recall for approximately 5,675 2014 Ford F-150 trucks for a potential issue with the electronic power assist steering gears. The affected EPAS steering gears may have a motor position sensor magnet that was incorrectly installed by the supplier.
Transmission issue Available upon request. While driving on interstate on September 17, 2024, the truck downshifted & was stuck in 3rd speed on interstate. I received a recall notice 24V444 and had the software update by dealer in July 2024. Not reproduced issue. Inspection schedueled with dealer next week. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle lost motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under an undisclosed NHTSA Campaign; however, the repair failed to prevent the failure. The contact stated that while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hard shifted from 1st to 2nd gear. In addition, the vehicle also hard shifted from 5th to 6th gear while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 178,000.
The contact's husband owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving and exceeding 60 MPH, the temperature gauge became high and suddenly dropped to "0". Additionally, the contact stated that the temperature gauge was fluctuating while driving at various speeds and while at a complete stop. The contact's husband scanned the vehicle with a vehicle scanner but was unable to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. Driving at highway speed, went to accelerate and pass another vehicle on a four-lane highway with my vehicle ending up in the far left lane attempting to pass. Truck lost all power, began to shake violently like it was misfiring, got an illuminated wrench on my dashboard, and at that point began to coast with no power being supplied by the engine. Miraculously I was able to coast across three lanes of highway to the shoulder without being rear ended by traffic moving at 70 mph which would have resulted in a catastrophic accident (endangering myself and my family and others on the road that day). I shut the vehicle off to stop the engine from shaking and misfiring and let it sit about two minutes. I restarted the vehicle, the illuminated wrench went away and the truck idled as normal allowing me to drive another 25 highway miles to my home without incident. Had a mechanic put a diagnostic tool on my truck to see if any error codes were thrown from it which no codes were present. Have taken it to Ford dealership near my home, they have been trying replicate the condition for three days and have been unsuccessful. Their hunch is throttle body assembly needs to be replaced ($675 fix). Quick query of NHTSB reported incidents shows a growing quantifiable history for the Ford F150 3.5L Ecoboost experiencing the exact encounter I had on this day. My family and I along with others on the highway were fortunate the event didn't end up tragically that day. Ford - time to step up and rectify via recall.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while his son was driving 50 MPH, the vehicle downshifted into third gear and remained in third gear. The vehicle was manually shifted into manual mode (M), and then up to 6th gear. The check engine warning light and another unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent dealer and an unknown DTC code populated while on the diagnostic machine. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the lead frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
I took my 2014 F150 in to Aaron Ford of Lake Elsinore on September 6th 2024 to repair a sudden downshift recall 24S37. The reason for taking the the truck in was because an event happened where I was on the freeway and the truck downshifted into a lower gear. I nearly lost control at that time. They informed me they made the recall repair and everything should work fine now. About a week later on [XXX] while traveling at about 60-70 miles per hour the truck experienced the exact same violent downshift event. This led me to believe the repair had not been made. I called the dealer back and they refused to take the car in for another review and since the recall had been "Completed" they tried to extort me by saying I had to pay the diagnosis fee to get it checked and no other dealer would help me since the repair was marked as "completed." All I ask is that Ford completes the repair as ordered by the NHTSA.
I was instructed to take my truck in for a recall of a sudden downshift issue with the transmissions molded leaf frame. I had told the ford representative that i was experiencing similar symptoms with my vehicle. and some symptoms that were even of even greater risks to me where when coming to a complete stop my vehicle would fail to gain proper speed facing oncoming traffic!! Also i had told the representative that due to those issues i also had the computer re-programmed previously to try to resolve the issue before becoming aware of the recall... i also had purchased an engine and transmission harness from a ford dealer prior to the recall as well, All for which i have not been re-compensated for..after becoming aware of the recall did i understand that the issue lied in the transmissions molded leaf frame which has not been repaired...no actions were taken to remedy my vehicle and i was upset and unsatisfied with the entire process!
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 5th gear to 1st gear, and the wheels locked up and the vehicle then shifted into 3rd gear. No warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the instrument panel indicated that the rear driver’s side door was ajar while the door was securely closed. The failure caused the cabin light to remain illuminated, causing the battery to be drained. The vehicle was jumped started and the battery was replaced. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle with an electrical wiring failure. The door wiring was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened regarding the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 172,000.
On September 7, 2024 at around 8 AM I was driving my 2014 Ford F150 3.5 L eco-boost and suddenly my brakes failed on me. I was driving and noticed that the low brake fluid light turned on and when I was coming to a stop, it was very difficult to stop the vehicle because I had to press my foot all the way down to the floor since I didn't feel any pressure when I pressed down on the brake. I made it to a parking lot where I put in a bottle of brake fluid, but then noticed that the fluid level went down after a few minutes. My vehicle would not retain the brake fluid and remained extremely difficult to come to a stop without putting myself and others at risk on the public roads. I entered my vehicles symptoms online and found vehicle recall "20S31", but on the Ford website, it says that my Vin is not covered by this recall. I believe that my vehicle should be covered by this recall because it has the exact same symptoms as others within the same years of production and also has the same engine type as the others that are covered by this recall.
WHILE TRAVELING ON I 75 TO FLORIDA ENGINE CK LIGHT ACTIVATED. WAS A CAUTIONARY LIGHT. UPON GETTING TO FL TOOK MY TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER WHO FOUND THAT BOTH FUEL PUMPS HAD FAILED. I NOW SEE FORD IS RECALLING F-150 TRUCKS DUE TO FAULTY FUEL PUMPS. I BELIEVE ALL F-150 TRUCKS SHOULD BE UNDER THE RECALL. DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND HAVING THE ENGINE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN HIGHWAY SPEED IS DANGEROUS AND VERY NERVE WRACKING.
While traveling down [XXX], My 2014 F150 suddenly downshifted while driving 70 MPH. I contacted the dealership because it was showing output speed sensor fault and they advised it was a recall. The vehicle was “fixed” by reprogrammed but since they updated the vehicle, the vehicle continued to downshift and now my truck will not drive properly. Since they came out to reprogram, I haven’t been able to drive my truck but 2 times. I drive over 150 miles a day with my [XXX] daughter in my truck. It doesn’t go in drive without jumping and I’m worried to even try to drive it with my daughter inside. Spoke with the dealership again and they now said because the codes not there anymore there is nothing they can do. The contact owned a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle rolled backward and crashed into the neighbor’s home. The vehicle damaged the neighbor's home and damaged the connecting gas. A Police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained, and no medical attention was needed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was serviced two weeks prior to the failure, by the dealer. The contact stated that an unknown recall repair for the transmission control module update was completed at the time. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
1. Aug 2024, shortly after transmission recall was performed. I shifted vehicle from Park to Drive, vehicle was on very slight incline and rolled backwards, as if in Neutral. Shifted vehicle back to Park, then to Drive. Same thing happened again, seemed as if vehicle was in Neutral. Turned vehicle off, waited about 2 minutes, restarted and vehicle shifted appropriately. 2. Oct 2024, speedometer, dashboard information system and navigation not working. I had to use my phone's gps to monitor speed and direction. Once I reached my location and it was safe to turn the vehicle off, I did so and waited about 2 minutes, restarted and all information was active and working correctly. This appears to be another electrical/program issue as with the recent issue of downshifting recall. I had experienced the downshifting issue and I had even taken it to a transmission shop but they could find nothing until the recall from Ford was issued July 1, 2024. Thanks in advance for researching above mentioned issues. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted, causing the vehicle to decelerate extremely quickly. The contact stated that the gear shift indicator light turned off, even though the shifter was in drive. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that the failure was with the transmission range sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 200,000.

Transmission issues that where addressed by factory recall: Here is the summary: Although the truck has high miles it has been running and driving very well. A couple of months ago, the truck developed a transmission issue that was covered by the recent recall. The truck was experiencing 2 main issues. A. The transmission would suddenly and unexpectedly downshift from a high gear to a low gear or even 1st gear. B. the transmission would go into LIMP MODE and although the truck was in gear, it would barely move and the WRENCH service light would appear on the dashboard. This would happened 1x per week for the last several months. After receiving the recall notice, I took the truck to my local Ford dealer, they performed the update. After picking it up and driving it, I soon realized the issue has not gotten worse. Within the first few hours and 100 miles, the experienced the issue 5 times and that happened for the next couple of days. I called the dealer, they told me to bring it back in, they checked it, verified my issues and said they could not do anything to help. The software was updated and if it is worse, then its permanent. I called Ford corporate and they told me the same thing. They are not offering any help. The truck has now become a hazard to drive and it is a safety concern. What can I do?
I received a recall letter 24V-444. My 2014 F-150 has repeatedly shown the symptoms described in the recall letter. Truck will downshift to 1st gear at various speeds, and the rear tires will slide when it occurs at a higher speed, and has done so on several occasions. On [XXX] I took vehicle to Auto Gallery Ford in Gaffney SC. They supposedly did the fix recommended. They told me to bring it back if it downshifted again. On the way home from the dealer, it downshifted again on the highway and almost caused an accident. I took the vehicle back and was told that Ford would not pay for the new part needed because a certain code was not showing up upon inspection, regardless of the fact that it has downshifted many times while I was driving. It is progressively getting worse and also showing an illuminated wrench symbol when the downshifting occurs. This is my only vehicle so I have to drive it in this unsafe condition. there was a recall issued for the transmission downshifting to 1st gear while driving. Recall# 24S37. I have this issue and immediately scheduled the software update. they came to my home address and that did not resolve the issue. then i took the vehicle to Sunbury Motors in Sunbury, Pa and they ran a diagnostic and nothing showed. the truck is actively downshifting to 1st while driving. it has happened numerous times. they had me drive it 16 miles away to the nearest dealership. The dealership stated there is nothing more they can do. I called ford and they said "what do you want from us?!!!" ii would like my transmission fixed so that I can safely drive this vehicle.
My Ford F 150 is a 2014 Eco Boost with 65,302 miles on it. I took it in for the recall and an oil change and the engine light was coming on intermittently. They said it had a timing chain issue. I have been buying Ford F 150's since 1980 and never had this issue. My extended warranty company denied the claim to repair the issue. The dealership said it would cost around $5,000 to repair. I checked the internet and saw some of the same vehicles with the same issue. I was wondering if this could be a manufacturer malfunction.
I took my 2014 Ford F-150 to liberty Ford in Maple Heights for the current recall and to also check out why the engine light was coming on intermittently. They advised there was a timing chain issue and contacted my extended warranty company, endurance. Endurance does not want to cover the cost to repair the vehicle. From my investigation it appears that the timing chain should last up to 100,000 miles and my vehicle currently has 60k plus miles. My question is could this possibly be a recall situation? I recently took my truck to the dealership for the 24S37 recall repair. Later that day, I received a call from the dealership informing me that my truck was ready for pickup. However, approximately 45 seconds after picking it up, I noticed that it was still shifting hard and felt like the transmission was dropping. I immediately contacted the dealership to report the issue. The dealership told me that I could bring the truck back in for another scan but mentioned that if the correct code appeared, I would have to pay for the repairs myself. I decided to take the truck home and parked it, hoping that more information about the recall would become available. Since then, I have called the dealership multiple times, left voice messages, and attempted to get in touch with the service manager, Jeff, but have found it nearly impossible to get a response. I scanned the codes on my truck and identified the following codes: P0715, P0717, and P0731. I am concerned that the recall repair was not completed properly or the initial recall caused that damage and that the issue persists. I am seeking your assistance in ensuring that this matter is resolved appropriately.
Following a recent recall for a sensor that malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to suddenly drop to first gear, the vehicle was sent to a Ford mechanic to update the sensor and supposedly fix the issue. Less than one week following this fix, while driving on a highway at 55-60 mph, the vehicle suddenly dropped to first gear as it was descending a hill and exiting the highway. The vehicle failed to get out of first gear, causing the engine RPMs to over-exert. After pulling over on the shoulder, turning off the engine and allowing it to cool down again, the automatic transmission failed to get out of first gear again.
The contact's boyfriend owned a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while her boyfriend was driving 60 MPH, the transmission downshifted unintendedly, and the vehicle jerked, causing the contact's boyfriend to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into the rear of another occupied vehicle. The contact was unsure whether the air bags were deployed. The ambulance transported the contact and the other driver to the hospital, where it was confirmed that no major injuries were sustained and both drivers were checked out of the hospital. The contact stated that both her boyfriend and the other driver sustained body pain. Both vehicles were towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000(Power Train), which the contact related to the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Recently took my truck in for the safety recall 24S24. In relation to the sudden transmission downshift power train control module. After the supposed fix, my truck has sudden and jolting downshifting as it did before. This recall fixed absolutely nothing. Ford needs to issue a recall fixing the issue, a software update clearly is not the solution.
I received the NHTSA letter Campaign Number: 24V-4444 dated June 24, 2024. I took my 2014 Ford F-150 to my local dealer for service along with the NHTSA letter. The dealer told me the POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM) was OK and did not need to be changed or replaced. Obviously I'm still concerned that a downshift to first gear could cause a major issue. How would you advise me to proceed? VIN [XXX] . The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the contact became aware of a failure with the transmission. The contact stated that the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted into first gear with no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed as a failure with the power train control module. The contact was informed that the power train control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the brake pedal failed to return to the original position after being depressed. The contact stated that the failure occurred while parked and while driving. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal felt abnormally loose, causing the braking distance to be extended, and causing the driver to temporarily lose control of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the failure could not be replicated. The local dealer was made aware of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
After a Ford technician completed the transmission recall repair around July 18th 2024, on my 2014 F150, the transmission is worse than before. On 7/27/2024 at 6:10pm while driving in auto, the transmission suddenly downshifted to 3rd and then to1st gear. I was on the way to a baseball game. It did the same downshift again at 6:26pm the same trip. On 7/31/2024 at 6:34am the truck again downshifted abruptly to 1st gear while driving to work. The repair does not work, it is worse now.
Sanderson Ford in Glendale has no ETA for the defect leadframe in my car. Right now I cant drive my car anymore because the check engine light came on with P0720 - speed sensor error code. When I entered the highway, my truck suddenly shifted from 3rd to 5th so I could not accelerate in a very busy intersection. This because the speed sensor failed. Sanderson Ford does not offer service soon because they dont have an eta for the leadframe. or a loaner vehicle until it can be fixed. What do I do now?

My 2014 Ford F150 was recalled for an intermittent failure of the output speed sensor (OSS) in the transmission. The recall was performed by Crossroads Ford of Apex (North Carolina) on [XXX]. When I made the appointment (which wasn't until 2 weeks from the time I called), I was told it would take approximately 3 hours however it was ready in 30 minutes. Since the recall was performed, twice the "orange wrench" has appeared on my dash for 15 - 20 seconds. I contacted Crossroads Ford and was directed to speak with the Service Manager Tony (no last name given). I explained about the wrench and he said I I would need a diagnostic performed, that it sounded like the 'mainframe in the transmission' was bad. He redirected me to the scheduler and I was given November 19, 2024 as the first available date. I was told my other options were to try another Ford dealership to see if they could see me sooner or just drop my truck off at Crossroads and they would work it in as soon as they could but that could take 5 -6 days and if it needed repairs they were not sure how long they would have my truck. I called 2 other Ford dealerships and was offered sooner dates however I would have to pay for the diagnostic and any repairs as deemed necessary. I asked even if it was related to the recall and was told yes because the recall for my truck had been closed by Crossroad Ford. My only recourse was to go back to Crossroads Ford and see if there was a warranty on the recall they performed. I called Crossroads Ford on Tuesday, August 22, 2024 and relayed the information I had received from the other dealerships. I was informed that Tony said I would have to pay for the diagnostic and repairs, there was no warranty on the recall. Per my recall letter dated July 2024, "and to check for the presence of certain diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). This service will be performed free of charge (parts and labor). Ford Motor Company said I should file this complaint. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA
Recall 24V444 After getting the recall service on [XXX], I drove the F150 with the tow/haul assist, with a 2024 Casita trailer on two separate trips as described below. The problems occurred on the second trip. For safety reasons, I weighted both the truck and trailer, then just the truck, at our CO-OP, and all numbers were well below GVWR and tongue weight. The trailer has an Anderson hitch for additional safety. The severe downshift occurred 3 times on [XXX]. The first trip with the same setup did not have any problems. This was just after the recall service was performed in St. Cloud Minnesota. The first non-eventful trip was July 10th-14th, was into South Dakota, and no downshifts occurred. The transmission problem started occurring again this week. This week I drove the second trip to Western North Dakota, around Linton. There are relatively small hills there, and the truck experienced a severe downshift 3 times. One time was at about 25 mph, going down a small hill before the entrance to [XXX]. That was on [XXX]. The next day while driving around 55 mph, on [XXX] North towards Bismarck, the truck, again with tow/haul assist on, abruptly downshifted while going down hill twice in about 25 miles. I cancelled the rest of the trip and stayed on relatively flat roads to get back to Minnesota. Today I called the Ford dealership, and they offered to do a transmission diagnosis, but it would cost me $150 as it likely wouldn't be considered warranty work under the recall. Next I called the Ford company at the number on the recall letter dated July 2024. They too said it would not cover diagnostics because they didn't think it was related to the recall just performed, not yet anyway. Questions: There was no accidents, dealer hasn't seen or verified yet, and no warning lights came on. Dealer is welcome to inspect and diagnosis the problem if they waive the cost to me. Fuse 27, a known problem with the 12th generation F150, manufactured from 2009-2014, burned through in my truck melting the fuse block in the process. The fuse block in question is the main fuse block located toward the front of the engine bay near the radiator. This resulted in a no start condition while parked in a parking lot. I was required to purchase Ford’s repair kit for their engineering problem and relocate the fuse to a new spot in the fuse block. If this had happened while driving, I fear my truck could have resulted in an electrical fire with my family inside. Please consider requiring Ford to issue a safety recall for this incredibly dangerous situation.
