LEAKING TURBO OIL SUPPLY LINE THAT IS LEAKING AT THE WELDED JOINT.
Engine block exploded with less than 100,000 miles while moving forward after a stop sign, dropped all water through a side of an engine, lost power unable to move from road blocking traffic. Once token into a shop, melted metal was found on the engine cover, and a big hole was found on the engine head. A lot of engine smoke (CO2) was released and got into the cabin getting me sick and feeling dizzy for a whole week
Hi, I have a 2016 Ford F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost motor. The truck has roughly 80k miles on it currently. I replaced the front brake rotors and pads on the truck a few weeks ago. After the repair I had full brake ability and no issues what so ever. This weekend I was driving the truck when I received an audible alarm and on the heads up screen by the speedometer that said the brake fluid was low. I also had the red "brake" indicator on the dash. When this occurred I did loose what I would say was 80% of my braking ability. Luckily I was only a few blocks from home so I was able to get home. When home I took all 4 wheels off my truck looking for leaks and everything was dry. The brake fluid reservoir was in fact low so I put 12 oz. of fluid back in it and went to drive around the block to see if things were better. I made it about 3 blocks before I received again that brake fluid low warning again and then lost braking ability. I then called my wife and took the truck to a local brake shop about a mile away. After some research over night I ran across 20V-332 and wondered if my truck was part of this recall. I called Ford this morning and the confirmed it is. They have ordered a master brake cylinder and I am now waiting for they to correct the issue. I will be without me truck at a minimum of a week because of this issue.
Both Right side and Left side exhaust manifolds warped resulting in stud bolt failure. The Right side failed at 69000 miles and the left side failed at 82000 miles. This failure results in "Emissions Leakage" and unsafe environment in the cab for occupants. Additionally, from an environmental standards requirement, all exhaust fails to make it through the "Catalyst" for cleansing and damages the "Catalyst" as a result of the engine adjusting to a lean mixture. Ford does not cover this expensive repair under its emissions warranty
I have a critical safety issue with the 2016 F150 truck I bought from Cavalier Ford, Chesapeake VA. The issue is the 6R80 automatic transmission unexpectedly changes gears while driving. In my case the truck down shifted from high gear to low gear on the interstate while driving about 70 miles per hour. I was fortunate no other cars were near me. My truck almost came to a stop, no brake lights displayed. This occurred the week on Jul 6 2021. It has occurred multiple times since than as well. I had the battery checked, showed bad, and bought a new one Jul 9th. I also had the "Check Engine" light scanned at Autozone. It revealed codes P0706/707, ie Range Sensor inside the transmission. I called Cavalier for an appt (Aug 11th almost a month away!!!), informed it would be $140 for a diagnostic!! It was free at Autozone. I also had another free scan done at Logan's Auto repair on Jul 22nd, having codes P0702/705/706/707/1921, all pointing to the Range sensor in the tranny. I spoke with Cavalier representative Nicole on Jul 16th, no help, and also left Service Mgr. Cathy Hunt. a voicemail on Jul 23rd explaining my dilemma. She has not returned my call. My status now, I have a 2016 F150 Ford truck, I urgently need to work and daily errands, ie Grandkids. There was a recall on this issue on the 2011/12 F150s. How come not now, its a major safety issue, and I see a lot of these trucks around. I wanted to convey this to Ms Hunt. Summary...the motor in this truck blew up at approx 39000 miles, and Ford did replace it. Now, at 79000 miles the transmission is also gone out. Since my extended warranty of 75000 just expired, I need some assistance from either Cavalier or the Ford plant. I need a reliable truck for work and taking care of the grandkids. If no one has reached out to me my COB Jul 28th 2021, a safety complaint will be sent in to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration...Thank you
Engine continues to stall / quit while driving. When idled in traffic and continued to drive , engine will stall. Most recently happen while completing left turn in intersection almost causing accident.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while her husband was driving 25 mph up a hill, the brake warning light was illuminated, and he was depressing the brake pedal to the floor but failed to stop the vehicle. The driver was able to cruise to the side of the road. The driver stated while checking under the hood, he noticed there was no brake fluid but did not see any leaks. The driver was able to add brake fluid and continue driving to his destination. The driver took the vehicle to local dealer and was informed that no brake fluid leaks were found. The driver stated on August 7, 2021, he experienced the failure for a second time. The contact took the vehicle to another local dealer at Ray Skillman Ford (1250 US-31, Greenwood, IN 46143: (317) 885-9800), where it was diagnosed with needing the brake master cylinder and brake booster to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V332000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,972.
Brake Master Cylinder failed. Sudden, complete loss of brake pressure with all the brake fluid leaking into brake booster. I had to replace the unit as the car was not drivable even after adding fluid. The unit has not been inspected. Brake fluid indicator came on when there was a sudden loss of fluid due to the master cylinder failure,
I have had the torque converter replaced/repaired due to a failing torques converter that caused a "rumble strip" sensation while driving and also have had to have both front and rear differentials repaired due to failed bearings. The truck has also exhibited a "groaning" sound when idling in a parking lot, or coming to a stop that dealership could never determine what cause was. I have also had a indicator light flash in my dash indicating a failed Traction Control Device, which never appeared in any diagnostics. I believe these items can also contribute to the issue at hand in the investigation of PE25002. This has happened multiple times, but I first noticed July 2021.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the driver's side air bag emblem cover was detaching. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the air bag emblem cover needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
When driven at highway speed for a while then coming to a stop the truck vibrates, shakes and idles roughly then stalls. It has been diagnosed by Ford as defective Variable Cam Timing Solenoids which have been replaced twice without fixing the problem. It continues to stall when at a stop or when starting out from a stop, like when crossing an intersection it dies in traffic suddenly. The check engine light is lit and it gets progressively worse until it is not reliably drivable
Low brake fluid level. Little to no stopping abilities.
INTAKE RUNNER CONTROL VALVE FAILURE DECREASE AIR FLOW TO MOTOR CAUSING DECREASE POWER AND TORQUE VEHICLE VERY SLUGGISH AND OCCASIONALLY HESITATES FROM START VEHICLE CAN NOT TOW DEALER CONFIRMED INTAKE ON BACKORDER DRIVING VEHICLE FOR OVER A MONTH DEALER STATES VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph, a warning light illuminated from the vehicle stating no brake fluid in brake cylinder. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and added brake fluid. The contact continued to drive and after a few minutes the warning light reappeared. The contact was able to continue to drive back to their residence. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as the master cylinder was leaking fluid into the brake booster. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
I started my 2016 f150 platinum ecoboost in the morning around (6:30am) on 6/18/21. The glass was fogged up from the night air so I turned rear and front defogger on to clear my glass and smell a instant strong burning smell and a loud pop which sent glass flying from the rear window. I immediately turned the vehicle off and got out. This is a common issue with Ford trucks and thankfully I didn’t have my kids in the back seat as they would have been hit by flying glass.
Out of no where & no indication anything was wrong, my son was driving home & lost all brakes. Out of the 300,000 recalled for this reason our vin# wasn't on the list. So we had to pay the $1117 . Ford did not seem to care when we reported it to their main office in Michigan. This could have caused a serious wreck or even a death!
When fueling the Ford F 150, it will not shut off almost all fuel handles and as a result gasoline spews out a couple feet past the fuel pump handle as well as spilling fuel all over the side of the truck. This poses a fire hazard as well as slipping and carcinogen issue. Also, the paint and tires are subjected to deterioration and the vehicle smells of fuel for some time afterwards. I can never completely fill the vehicle without putting my ear up to the truck fill tube. No matter how far back I jump, I always get fuel on my feet, shoes and clothing. I haven't had fuel get in my eyes yet, but it is just a matter of time. Maybe a fuel station has already blown up. I'm sure that won't bee long if it has not already happened.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon inspection, it was discovered that oil was leaking from the vehicle onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the oil pan was faulty and needed to be replaced. The oil pan was replaced but the failure had reoccurred. The contact stated that the oil pan had been replaced on three separate occasions due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while operating the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the pedal extended to the floor and the vehicle did not immediately stop. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the brake fluid was very low. After refilling the brake fluid reservoir, the vehicle immediately experienced the same failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the brake fluid had leaked into the brake master cylinder, and the brake booster and master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V332000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
On the highway towing a trailer. At stop light truck suddenly dies. Did not notice it died, pressed gas and nothing. Put the truck in park, restarted truck and everything went back to normal. This happened three times alreand all the times it happened was when i was towing and at stop light after an hour or more of driving. This is ver intermittent issue. I have not taken it to dealer as i dont think they can replicate it. dy a
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact shifted to park(P) and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle regained normal operation. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that bank #2 Variable Camshaft Tuning (VCT) solenoids needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure recurred approximately 10-12 times and became more frequent. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2016 FORD F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The contact stated that the low brake fluid warning light was displayed. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 20V332000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the Vin was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the Vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the brake pedal was depressed the brake pedal traveled to the floor. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle has not been seen nor diagnosed. No dealer was contacted. The contact mentioned NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V332000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN was not included. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
Leaking brake booster line at 50,000 + miles I have to pay for out of pocket. Also throttle body replacement. Vehicle would lose power then throw a code P2112. Both bad safety issues.
Low brake fluid light came on while driving. Shortly thereafter (minutes) the brakes got very bad and unsafe. Basically the resistance left and the pedal went to the floor. It slowly stopped via brakes but very poorly. You couldn't make a quick stop if needed. Checked fluid it was empty. Added fluid. Drove to dealership, brakes were slightly better but sure enough 5 minutes into drive the low fluid light came on. I suspect it is emtpy again (I dropped at dealership and told them to check). Brakes starting working worse again, just like before (keep in mind they were'nt normal again even with the fluid, just a bit more resistance when i pumped the pedal). After the light came on, all resistances was gone again. Doing some research and talking to the dealership this sounds exactly like NHTSA campaing # 20V-332, however, my vehicle isn't covered because the cutoff for that is currently Aug 1 2016, while my truck was apparently built the following month in September. Dealer thinks it is the same issue. I called Ford and they are taking a wait and see attitude, but it sure seems fishy that the exact recall problem appears to suddenly pop up in a vehicle that fits all the descriptions except a month later...The guy I talked to said they used dealership reports to determine affected dates, so who knows. Car is at dealership getting fixed and it needs a new master cylinder.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, a grinding and loud humming sound was coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with rear-end failure. The rear-end including the rear differential was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was diagnosed with the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Vehicle has less than 30,000 miles and lug nuts were so swollen that when I did a tire rotation they ended up having to replace the lug nuts. This is inexcusable and a significant safety hazard.
UNKNOWN Gas mileage has plummeted from 19mpg highway/city Down to 12.5mpg Highway/City Hard starting is random so Very Hard to Catch for Auto Mechanics, new spark plugs, No Check Engine Lights, Multiple Mechanics both Dealership and 3rd Party cannot find anything wrong with the truck Fuel pump tested and is fine, O2 sensor either working properly or not telling the computer something is wrong Gas Mileage suddenly plummeted with no reason, nothing is telling the computer anything is wrong and nobody can find out why my gas mileage has plummeted so drastically with No Signs of Bad or Faulty Parts
Stalls at when at idol at stop lights. mechanics can't find out why. No warnings lights in cash come on
Exhaust manifold studs broke causing the manifold to warp turning into an exhaust leak. This is a common issue with the 3.5 eco boost due to the lack of manifold studs towards the rear of the vehicle. This is a design flaw that is costing the average person approximately $1400. There are thousands of post and videos with this issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while attempting to enter the vehicle using the key fob, the key fob failed to unlock the door. The contact used the key to manually unlock the door. The contact noticed that the windshield was cracked and was burned. In addition, the dashboard on the passenger’s side was melted, the sun visor was melted and burned, the air bags were also melted. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop, the contact was informed that the cause of the fire was undetermined however, the fire might have started from the air bags. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 80,100.
Master Cylinder and brake booster went out
Driving down Interstate 80 at 70mph and Track Assist error, then Hill Start Assist Unavailable Error, Wrench light (see manual), engine light. I depress the gas pedal and there is no response, the engine rpm does not increase. I have to pull off to the side of the interstate, towing a boat, luckily not in construction zone ahead with concrete barriers on both sides. Turn off and restart, the engine / rpm still do not respond. Turned off for 5 minutes while I make a call. Turn on again and rough idle but the engine responds and I am able to drive the remaining 15 miles to home. Exact thing happened again 4 days later on 2 lane, hilly, country highway without a shoulder. I stopped in the road, hazards on, turned off/on again, didn't respond to gas. Wait 5 minutes turned on again and was able to get to home.
Vehicle lost acceleration on interstate highway multiple times and caused dangerous maneuvers to avoid collision. Ford has acknowledged issue via consumer satisfaction 16B32 but I was never mailed any notification. This MUST be a recall. This is the most dangerous event I have experienced driving.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle downshifted and ceased in first or second gear. The vehicle inadvertently shifted into third gear and ceased in third while the contact was transitioning from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal at a stoplight. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the lead frame had failed. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 85,600.
Car lost all braking within 5 miles of starting truck. THERE WAS RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY/DEATH. No issues were experienced before parking the car the day before. Audible alert and panel "brake fluid low light" came only only 2 miles before total brake loss. Brake reservoir was empty. Refilled reservoir, pumped brakes until "normal" braking was experienced and the refilled brake reservoir. Ran the engine and drove 3 miles before all braking was lost again. Checked engine compartment and area surrounding brake reservoir and cylinder plus all hydraulic fittings around all four brakes and found all to be bone dry. No evidence of any leak anywhere. Mechanic believes the fluid is being consumed by the engine (bakes sense) and plans on examining to determine.
On Friday, May 21, 2021, the horn pad / airbag cover on the steering wheel cracked beneath the Ford emblem on my 2016 Ford F150 with approximately 44k mi on the vehicle. A quick web search shows identical cracks on many F150 horn pads of this body style. There are no recalls and no TSBs, but there are many online reports of this failure, indicating it is common. Likewise, there are many stories of Ford faulting drivers for improper horn use to decline warranty coverage. Without improper use in my case, I can assure that the failure of the horn pad cover is a design flaw. Because the issue presents a safety concern by exposing the airbag or related hardware, I recommend a recall be issued to proactively address this common design failure. I look forward to Ford resolving this issue for me under their CPO warranty, but online commenters leave me cautious about the likelihood of warranty support.
The break system failed completely. Got a Low Brake Fluid message and pedal went to the floor. The vehicle is currently at the dealership getting fixed. If this would have happened while driving down the interstate I would not have been able to stop. No warnings or symptoms before entering the vehicle this particular time.
low brake fluid light is continuously going on and off. Parking brake also came on. There was a recall and brought to dealer and they said it was fixed. Happen shortly after, dealer said needed a battery. Replaced battery and light is still going on and off. The recall said front brakes wil go out with this issue. If this isn't fixed it will cause a crash.
Truck speed went down when driving, try to seed up on the gas pedal for a few seconds didnt wana move forward. This has happend three time already, My son has a code reader thing that when he plugged it to My truck this code came up P0720. Had to park My truck at home for My worry and safety. My son took it to the Ford dealership and got it a diagnostic test done. On way over there He said the truck drove fine. The dealership test said it was Lead frame Connector. They have to change that and drain the oil of transmission and refill it again. Its almost a month My truck has been park here at home.
This is my second issue of the same problem. The airbag cover cracks along the FORD logo and becomes a SHARP edge when applying the horn. In addition, I am concerned if this may accidentally activate the airbag? There are numerous complaints/concerns in the internet about this same issue and the same location of issue. As you can view in the attached photo, it is a defect in the workmanship that causes the seperation of the airbag cover.
The exhaust manifold warps causing a leak in the manifold in the 3.5 Ecoboost engines. After research, it is a common problem with many Ford owners. This problem causes an emission leak, power loss, and distinct noise. I have not had this confirmed by a dealer as of yet, but it is a very common problem. My truck started having this problem around 45,000 miles. No warning lights or messages have been displayed.
A stud on the driver's side exhaust manifold sheered off creating an exhaust leak and an associated noise, like a squeaky fan belt noise, from the leak. An exhaust leak of this nature could effect the emission controls of the vehicle creating additional pollution to the atmosphere, and endangering the occupants with Carbon Dioxide (CO) gas inside the truck's cabin. And, in states such as California, the vehicle could fail smog tests. There were no warning lights or messages from the system computer indicating there was an emission problem, yet, and the noise can be heard while accelerating at any speed. I drove with this problem for over 7,000 plus miles before contacting my dealer with problem, thinking it was only a belt. On August 30, 2021, I finally took it to my Ford dealer to diagnose the problem, and was quoted an estimate of over $2,100 to repair the exhaust leak. The truck was of course out of warranty and had 75,074 miles on it. I had to wait two weeks for the parts to arrive, and another week for the repair to be completed. The truck was finally repaired and returned to me on September 23, 2021. But, I was also informed, and the service order states, and I can detect, another exhaust leak coming from the passenger side of the engine from the other exhaust manifold. I haven't received an estimate yet, but I have to assume the cost will be similar. I searched the NTSB Web Site for any recalls or TSB's for this type of situation, and found similar incidents to mine, but no recalls. The service manage at my Ford dealership was not aware of any of these type of problems, but the service writer did state to me they had other trucks in the shop with the same type problem. I see this as a health and safety issue as Carbon Dioxide gas could affect the driver and passengers of the vehicle creating a life threatening situation and Ford should issue a recall to repair these trucks and reimburse owners who have had repairs made at their own expense.
NO BRAKES. TOOK TO FORD. DOES NOT FALL UNDER CURRENT RECALL OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 20V-332. HOWEVER MY FORD DEALER IS CHARGING ME TO REPLACE THE SAME EXACT PARTS UNDER THE RECALL. BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. NO BRAKES. BRAKE FLUID LOW. ADDED MORE BRAKE FLUID, NOT LEAKING UNDER TRUCK. EMERGENCY BRAKE STILL WORKS. HAD IT TOWED TO FORD 2 WEEKS AGO. THEY ARE NOT RETURNING MY CALL. THEY DID TELL ME THEY HAD TO ORDER BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND FLUSH THE BRAKE LINES. $3000 REPAIR. ODD THAT THIS IS THE SAME REPAIR UNDER THE RECALL.
MY 2016 F150 3.5L ECO BOOST HAS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL 20S31. OUT OF NOWHERE MY BRAKES WENT OUT. DASH SAID BRAKE FLUID LOW. NO SIGNS OF LEAKS EVEN AFTER REFILLING. IT WAS DUMPING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. VIN DOES NOT SHOW UP UNDER THE AFFECTED VEHICLES THOUGH.
FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL BACK IN 2019 FOR FAULTY OIL PANS. MY 2016 FORD F-150 HAS HAD 4 OIL PAN REPLACEMENTS AND IS NEEDING A 5TH. WHEN RUNNING A CARFAX, THE DEALERSHIP THAT HAS COMPLETED THE REPAIRS IS NOT REPORTING ANY OF THESE ISSUES. JACKSON FORD IN DECATUR, IL. THE ATTACHED PHOTO IS FROM THE TRUCK SITTING FOR 24 HOURS. WHEN I LOGGED ONTO THE NHTSA WEBSITE TO SEE IF MAYBE I COULD GET ANOTHER RECALL REPAIR AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, NO ACTIVE RECALLS ARE OUT. I'D LIKE TO TRY JUST 1 MORE DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED.
