DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, DOING ABOUT 60 TO 65 MPH, NOTICED THAT I WAS SLOWING DOWN SLIGHTLY, WENT TO GIVE IT MORE GAS, LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASHBOARD AND REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE WASN'T ON (NO RPMS ON TACHOMETER). THE SCREEN ON THE DASHBOARD HAD A SERVICE WARNING FOR THE PARKING BRAKE WITH A LIGHTNING BOLT IDIOT LIGHT ON (NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS, DIDN'T GET THE CHANCE TO LOOK IN THE MANUAL). I DON'T KNOW IF THE POWER STEERING/BRAKES WENT OUT, SINCE I WAS MOVING FAST ENOUGH TO STEER FAIRLY EASILY, AND I'M STRONG ENOUGH TO PRESS A BRAKE PEDAL. AFTER I GOT IT PULLED OVER, I PUT IT IN PARK, TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, WASN'T ABLE TO. CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, GOT A TOW TRUCK. NOTICE THE SCREEN THAT HAS STUFF LIKE CLOCK, TEMP, DATE, MEDIA INFO WAS STUCK AT THE TIME IT SHUTOFF. NO OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SEEMED TO WORK, I.E. POWER WINDOWS, EMERGENCY FLASHERS, IGNITION. WAS ALSO LOCKED IN PARK, COULDN'T GET IT INTO NEUTRAL FOR THE TOW TRUCK. AFTER IT GOT ONTO THE TOW TRUCK, THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SERVICE IT, GOT TO DEALER AND WHEN IT CAME TIME TO GET IT OFF THE TRUCK, IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AGAIN, DIDN'T APPEAR TO HAVE ANY SERVICE MESSAGES SHOW UP. BRAND NEW TRUCK, ABOUT 1100 MILES ON IT, NO ACCIDENTS, NO OFF-ROADING, HAVEN'T EVEN CHANGED THE OIL YET, HAVEN'T TOUCHED ANYTHING UNDER THE HOOD BESIDES THE OIL DIPSTICK. AT THE DEALERSHIP, NOTHING SEEMED TO BE LOOSE UNDER THE HOOD (ELECTRICAL WISE). ATTACHED IS A PICTURE SIMILAR TO WHAT I SAW (AGAIN, 65 ON THE HIGHWAY, NOT REALLY AN IDEAL TIME FOR DOCUMENTATION).
DRIVING AT 45 MPH LOST THROTTLE ONLY WOULD IDLE LOTS OF DASH WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON HAD TO IDLE ACROSS TRAIN TRACKS TO GET SHOULDER OF ROAD HAD TO HAVE TOWED TO DEALER FOR REPAIR, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY.
BRAND NEW KING RANCH FORD F-150 BRAKES RECURRENTLY FAIL. NO ACCIDENT BUT THEY CURRENTLY HAVE GREATLY REDUCED STOPPING POWER, SUPER DANGEROUS. FORD REPORTS LONG BACK ORDER 3+WEEKS ON MASTER CYLINDER, MAKES ME WONDER IF THERE IS LARGER ISSUE.
2.5 MONTH OLD TRUCK WITH APPROXIMATELY 7K MILES DRIVEN. I WAS ROLLING DOWN A HILL ABOUT 10MPH AND TRIED TO STOP TO TALK WITH A NEIGHBOR. THE PEDAL TRAVEL DIDN'T FEEL NORMAL AND I ROLLED ABOUT 5 FEET PAST MY NEIGHBOR. AFTER COMING TO A STOP THE PEDAL SLOWLY SUNK TO THE FLOOR. I SHIFTED TO PARK THEN RELEASED AND REAPPLIED THE PEDAL. THERE WAS INITIAL RESISTANCE AT ROUGHLY THE NORMAL PEDAL HEIGHT, AND AGAIN THE PEDAL SLOWLY SANK TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND TESTED THE BRAKES I EXPERIENCED A SLIGHTLY DIMINISHED "INITIAL GRAB" WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES WHICH THEN WOULD DECREASE EVEN FURTHER WHILE THE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR. WHEN THE PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY DEPRESSED I HAD VERY VERY LITTLE BRAKING ABILITY. FORD HAS HAD THE TRUCK FOR OVER 3 WEEKS AND STATES THAT THEY BELIEVE THE MASTER CYLINDER TO BE FAULTY AND THE LEAD TIME ON A REPLACEMENT IS QUITE LONG. (3 WEEKS THEY HOPE). I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OPENED A CASE. THE TOLD ME THEY WOULD SEEK TO PRIORITIZE THE PART FOR ME. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM (WERE SUPPOSED TO CALL LAST THURSDAY) DEALER HAS NO UPDATES FOR ME EITHER. IN VIEW OF THE RECALL FOR PREVIOUS YEAR F150 TRUCKS FOR BRAKE RELATED ISSUES THAT ARE IDENTICAL TO WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED, I AM NOT COMFORTABLE TOWING WITH THIS TRUCK...ASSUMING IT IS ACTUALLY FIXED ANY TIME SOON.
6,500 MILES ON NEW VEHICLE AND BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED, NO ACCIDENT TO REPORT
OWNED 2016 F150 SINCE MAY 2016. BEEN IN SHOP 6X NOW FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. REPLACED FUEL PUMP MULTIPLE TIMES, AND POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE, STILL NO POWER FROM 7 PT. WIRING HARNESS TO CAMPER. APPARENTLY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM - "I AM ALSO HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM ON MY NEW 2016; NO 12V POWER AT THE 7 PIN TRAILER PLUG. I HAVE A DUAL PORT 12 VOLT POWER ADAPTER THAT PLUGS IN THE 7 PIN PLUG TO RUN 12V ACCESSORIES LIKE A SMALL AIR COMPRESSOR ETC. (LIKE THIS HTTPS://WWW.AMAZON.CA/REESE-TOWPOWER...204460_TE_ITEM) I JUST TRIED IT YESTERDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT HAD NO POWER. I BENCH TESTED THE ADAPTER AND IT IS WORKING. WHEN LOOKING AT THE PLUG AT THE BACK OF THE TRUCK, THE NEGATIVE (-) IS AT THE 1 OCLOCK POSTION AND POSTIVE (+) IS AT THE 7 OCLOCK. I PUT A MULTI METER ON THOSE TRAILER PLUG PINS WITH THE TRUCK RUNNING AND NO POWER. ON THE DASH COMPUTER I ENTERED THAT I HAD MY TRAILER HOOKED UP AND STILL NO 12V AT THOSE TWO PINS. THE TURN SIGNALS (PINS AT 9 OCLOCK AND 3 OCLOCK RESPECTIVELY) AND RUNNING LIGHTS (PIN AT 5 OCLOCK) HAS 12V POWER.THE TECH CAME OUT WITH A SHOP MADE BOARD THEY HAVE FOR CHECKING TRAILER WIRING. WITH THE TRUCK RUNNING, TRAILER CONNECTED ON THE DASH AND EVEN ADDED A "NEW" TRAILER STILL NO POWER! HE PLUGGED IN THE SHOP COMPUTER AND COULD NOT SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. SO THE DEALERSHIP IT STUMPED. THEY WILL BE "CALLING DETROIT" TO SEE IF THEY HAVE A SOLUTION. SO, TURN SIGNALS WORK, RUNNING LIGHTS WORK, BRAKES WORK BUT NOT 12V DC. SO, IF YOU HAVE A CAMPER, WHILE DRIVING YOU WILL NOT HAVE POWER FOR YOUR FRIDGE OR INTERIOR CAMPER LIGHTS, CHARGING CAMPER BATTERY ETC.CONTACTED FORD, THEY RECOMMENDED FILING A COMPLAINT WITH YOU
2016 FORD F-150 XLT 2.7L ECOBOOST AUTOMATIC MODEL WITH APPROXIMATELY 3,400 MILES. HAD ALREADY DRIVEN ABOUT 4-5 MILES WITH ENGINE ALREADY WARMED UP. DRY WEATHER AND ABOUT 69 DEGREES F OUTSIDE. CAME UP TO STOP LIGHT WITH OTHER VEHICLES AHEAD SLOWED DOWN. CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE AUTO-STOP FUNCTION ENGAGED AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE ROADWAY WAS FAIRLY LEVEL. WAITED APPROXIMATELY 20-30 SECONDS UNTIL LIGHT TURNED GREEN. TRAFFIC AHEAD STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. I LET OFF THE BRAKES AND THE AUTO-START ENGAGED. I CONTINUED TO EASE OFF BRAKES AND ALLOWED THE TRUCK TO ROLL AND IDLE FORWARD WITH THE FLOW OF THE VEHICLES AHEAD. I THEN APPLIED MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND BEGAN ACCELERATING WITH THE FLOW OF THE TRAFFIC. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. AT FIRST I DIDN'T REALIZE IT HAD SHUT OFF AND WAS SURPRISED THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO ACCELERATE ANYMORE. THEN I LOOKED AT INSTRUMENT PANEL AND SAW THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 17 MPH AND SLOWLY DROPPING AS THE TRUCK WAS JUST COASTING ALONG. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT MAYBE I HAD ACCIDENTALLY THROWN IT INTO NEUTRAL SOMEHOW, BUT THE GEAR WAS STILL IN "D" AND APPLYING GAS DID NOT MOVE THE TACHOMETER AS IT HAD DROPPED TO ZERO. THEN I SAW THE BATTERY SYMBOL POP UP. THIS IS WHEN I REALIZED THE ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF DURING ACCELERATION, POSSIBLY DURING GEAR SHIFT SEQUENCE. AT THIS POINT THE VEHICLE IS STILL ROLLING ROUGHLY 10 MPH, SO I ENGAGE IT INTO NEUTRAL AND CRANK THE IGNITION AND IT STARTS UP AGAIN. THERE IS TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AT THIS POINT SO I CHANGE GEAR INTO "D" AND AM THEN ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY UP TO PROPER SPEED. I COULD NOT RECREATE THIS AGAIN FOR THE NEXT 5-6 MILES HOME, EVEN WITH NUMEROUS STOP LIGHTS WHERE I WOULD RECREATE THE SAME AUTO-STOP/START AND ACCELERATE ACTIONS.
FORD THROTTLE BODY ISSUE - VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 9000 MILES. WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY (65-70MPH) IN A REMOTE AREA, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSS ACCELERATION AND BEGUN TO SHUDDER. NO RESPONSE WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDAL. WE COASTED TO THE ROADSIDE AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR. VEHICLE DASH WARNINGS FOR DESCENT ASSISTANCE AND COLLISION AVOIDANCE APPEARED. THIRD ATTEMPT TO RESTART VEHICLE WORKED. THE ISSUE OCCURRED ON 4 OTHER OCCASIONS INCLUDING STALLING IN A BUSY INTERSECTION SHORTLY AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. EACH TIME RESTARTING THE CAR RESULTS IN SHUDDERING AND ERROR MESSAGES ON THE DASH. DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS A KNOWN ISSUE AND PARTS WILL TAKE UP TO 3 WEEKS PLUS REPAIR TIME. MANUFACTURER OFFERED ONLY TO CHECK ON PARTS AND UPDATE US 4 DAYS LATER. THEY DID NOT OFFERED LOAN VEHICLE. INTERNET RESEARCH POINTS TO DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY FOR SIMILAR VEHICLES. VEHICLE ALSO HAS A DEFECTIVE SENSOR FOR TAILGATE AJAR THAT HAS BEEN UNRESOLVED IN TWO ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. ECOBOOST F-150. LESS THAN 200 MILES ON ODOMETER. AT STOP WITH FOOT ON BRAKE WHOLE TIME, VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. ENGINE REVVED UP, THEN SETTLED DOWN, REVVED AGAIN, SETTLED DOWN, THEN REVVED VERY HIGH, REAR TIRE SPINNING UNTIL IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF.
I HAVE TWO WINDOWS ON MY 2016 FORD F 150. PASSENGER SIDE UP AND DOWN WINDOW MOON ROOF ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THE TWO ABOVE MENTIONED CRACKS/STRESS ARE WITH IN 18 INCHES OF EACH OTHER. THE PASSENGER UP AND DOWN WINDOW IS NOW CRACKED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT.
BRAKES COMPLETELY FAIL, WHEN I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN. IT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. SOMETIMES PUMPING THE BRAKES HELPS. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS USED TO STOP THE VEHICLE 2 TIMES. ONCE A SHARP SWERVE OFF THE ROAD WHILE PUMPING TO STOP. THE LAST TIME I COASTED TO A STOP. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO MATTER OF SPEED, TYPE OF STOP OR INCLINE IN COMMON. EXCEPT THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE BRAKES WON'T WORK. I'M WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK RIGHT NOW
WHILE SLOWING TO PULL INTO MY COMPANIES DRIVEWAY OFF OF A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY MY BRAKES FAILED. AS I BEGIN TO APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL IT HAD LITTLE TO NO RESISTANCE AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH ALMOST ZERO STOPPING POWER (ON DRY SURFACE). I KNEW I WOULD DEFINITELY CRASH IF I TRIED TO PULL INTO THE DRIVE AT THE RATE I WAS TRAVELING, SO I TURNED UP THE SHOULDER AGAINST ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO REGAIN CONTROL. BEING VERY CONFUSED BECAUSE MY TRUCK IS STILL BRAND NEW I WENT DOWN MANY BACK ROADS TESTING MY BRAKES TO THANKFULLY HAVING NO OTHER FAILURES. ONE WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED TO MY FIANC WHILE SHE WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN AND WAS VERY BLESSED THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP BEFORE ENTERING THE INTERSECTION. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED TO HER AGAIN BUT SHE HAD BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES AT A MUCH GREATER DISTANCE AWAY AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE THE INTERSECTION. THE BEST WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT IS, THAT IT FEELS AS IF THE FRONT BRAKES ARE DISENGAGED AND THERE IS SOME STOPPING POWER FROM THE REAR WITH NO LOSS OF TRACTION. I NOTIFIED MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. I JUST PRAY THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE OR THAT IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN BEFORE ME OR MY FAMILY GET HURT.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE POWER STEERING, TURN SIGNALS, 4X4, AND LIGHTS WENT OUT. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM AFTER MULTIPLE SERVICE VISITS. THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT TILL IT GOES OUT AGAIN. MOST OF THE TIME, WHEN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOES OUT, IT IS WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR. ONE TIME, THE SYSTEM WENT OUT WHILE I WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND I NEARLY WRECKED THE VEHICLE.
2016 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO INSUFFICIENT EXTERIOR LIGHTING AT NIGHT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY CONSISTED OF VERY SMALL LED LIGHTS ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM, A LENS FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT AND EMERGENCY FLASHER ONLY, A LENS FOR THE SIDE SENSOR THAT WAS DARK AT NIGHT, A REFLECTOR AND BACK-UP LIGHT. THE CONSUMER ADDED REFLECTORS ABOVE THE REAR BUMPER FOR ADDED ILLUMINATION WHEN APPROACHED BY OTHER VEHICLES WITH THEIR LIGHTS ON. VEHICLES APPROACHING FROM THE REAR WITHOUT THEIR LIGHTS ON WILL ON SEE TWO SMALL STRIPS OF LIGHT ON EACH TAIL LIGHT. *JB THE CONSUMER STATE HE SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO ILLUMINATE THE BRAKE AND EMERGENCY FLASHER SECTION OF THE ASSEMBLY WITH AN LED TAIL LIGHT BULB. THROTTLE BODY FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN IN HIGH-SPEED TRAFFIC [FAILURE DEFINED BY DEALER SERVICE PERSON].
MY 2016 F-150 PLARINUM WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, RUNS UP BEHIND VEHICLES ON OCCASIONS THEN BRAKES HARD. IF THE OTHER VEHICLE IS A SEMI, AS YOU ATTEMPT TO PASS HIM WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE ON, THE CAR BRAKES HARD AND SLOWS DOWN ON OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM, ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHEN COMING TO A BEND IN THE ROAD, THE STEERING GETS VERY STIFF AS IF THE POWER STEERING IS INOPERATIVE. THE IS VERY BRIEFLY BEFORE THE STEERING RETURNS TO A VERY SENSITIVE STEERING , ALSO VERY BRIEF. THE VEHICLE AT THIS POINT IS IN A UNDER STEER CONDITION WHICH IT CORRECTS ITSELF. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 6 TIMES. MY SELLING FORD DEALER HAS TWICE CHECKED THE PROGRAMING WITH 0 RESULTS. NO CODES- NO PROBLEMS WHEN THEY TEST DRIVE IT. THE VEHICLE HAS 3550 MILES AND I'M GETTING SCARED TO DRIVE IT. THIS FIRST PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL TO THE 2015 FORD F-150 PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO MY SELLING DEALER, MY VEHICLE WHICH I PURCHASED 2/19/16 WAS BUILT TOWARDS THE END OF LAST YEAR, BUT MY DEALER STATES THIS HAS NO BEARING ON MY ALLEGED CRUISE PROBLEMS. MY SELLING DEALER IS TWO RIVERS FORD IN MOUNT JULIET, TENNESSEE. AN ADDITIONAL VEHICLE AT THEIR DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN REPORTED BY ONE OF THEIR SALESMEN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TO MANAGEMENT, AND THE PROBLEM EXISTS TODAY IS MY UNDERSTANDING. THE SPEED AT WHICH THESE PROBLEMS ARISE IS VARIED AND ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI WHO WAS COMING UP BEHIND ME WHEN THE BRAKES APPLIED THEMSELVES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-60 MPH, THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND IDLING. THE FAILURE BEGAN THE DAY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS NEWLY PURCHASED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS VIBRATING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE'S SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE BROKEN IN AT A MINIMUM OF 500 TO 1,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILURE NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55. UPDATED 07/12/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED FORD WAS BUYING THE VEHICLE BACK, BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, DESPITE REPLACING SEVERAL COMPONENTS. UPDATED 07/19/16.*JB
SO I'VE GOT 16,000 MILES ON MY NEW 2016 F150 TRUCK. LAST WEEK I WAS CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN THE FAST LANE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK SHUDDERS THEN LOSES ALL DRIVETRAIN POWER. THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON BUT ONLY OPERATING AT BTWN 600 AND 800 RPMS BUT THE ACCELERATOR WAS UNRESPONSIVE. WAS NO FUN TRYING TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER WITH NO POWER. ONE WEEK LATER, SAME THING TWICE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T SEEM OVERLY CONCERNED THAT MY NEW TRUCK WAS STRANDING ME IN THE FAST LANE WITH NO POWER. THEY SAID BRING IT IN AT THE END OF THE WEEK AND WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT IT. SO I START RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND CAN ONLY FIND RELATED ARTICLES FROM AROUND 2012 WHEN FORD WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH HUMIDITY IN ITS NEW ECOBOOST ENGINES. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA WHERE THE HUMIDITY IS NOT VERY FIERCE SO I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM OR NOT, BUT AFTER READING SOME POSTS ON HOW FORD DEALT WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, I'M NOT VERY OPTIMISTIC ON THE OUTCOME THIS TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,300.
DRIVER DOOR OF 2016 FORD F150 WILL NOT LATCH WHEN CLOSING. PROBLEM PRIMARILY OCCURS AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN USE. AFTER OPENING THE DOOR, THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH IN A SECURE POSITION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE. WILL OCCASIONALLY LATCH WHEN PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON AFTER OPENING. DRIVER CAN BE INSIDE THE CAB OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND PROBLEM OCCURS EITHER WAY. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND SERVICE CENTER AND THEY WERE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS ISSUE. OPERATOR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON ANY OF THE OTHER DOORS - JUST THE DRIVER DOOR. VEHICLE IS A SUPERCREW MODEL. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN OPERATOR HAS TRUCK OFF, OPENS THE DOOR, GETS IN VEHICLE, ATTEMPTS TO SHUT DOOR (DOESN'T LATCH), STARTS VEHICLE AND RE-ATTEMPTS (STILL DOESN'T LATCH), AND WILL EVEN OCCUR WITH VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO "D" (DRIVE) AND RE-ATTEMPTS (STILL DOESN'T LATCH). THIS OWNER AND OPERATORS OPINION THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS OTHER OPERATORS MAY NOT REALIZE THAT THE DOOR HAS NOT LATCHED AND MAY BE PUTTING VEHICLE INTO MOTION WITH AN OPEN/UNLATCHED DOOR.

The contact also stated that water was seen coming from the ceiling light buttons. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the sunroof guard, motor and trim needed to be replaced. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V977000 (Visibility). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
THE PICKUP TRUCK IS NO OLDER THAN 3 MONTHS AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY I SUDDENLY LOST FUNCTION OF MY BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN WITH NO BRAKE REACTION. THE MIDWAY FORD DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THE MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE WAS DEFECTIVE. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS INJURED, NOR ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; HOWEVER THE TRAUMATIC INCIDENT DID CAUSE ME ANGINA DUE TO MY HEART CONDITION. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HAVE CONTROLLED THE HEALTH CONDITION WITH NITROGLYCERIN. ALL I ASK IS THAT FORD TAKE THIS INCIDENT SERIOUSLY TO AVOID ANY FUTURE ACCIDENTS WHICH MAY POTENTIAL RESULT IN A FATALITY. CONCERNED ABOUT WINDSHIELD NOT BEING THICK/STRONG ENOUGH IN 2016 F150S DUE TO CAMERAS/SENSORS BEHIND THE GLASS. I HAVE A 2016 FORD F150 PLATINUM, PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER, 2015. CURRENT MILEAGE IS UNDER 4K MILES. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE 701A PACKAGE, WHICH INCLUDES LANE KEEPING AND 360 DEGREE CAMERA SYSTEMS. WITHIN ONE MONTH OF PURCHASE, THE WINDSHIELD WAS CHIPPED DUE TO A SMALL ROCK HITTING IT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS CHIP DEVELOPED INTO AN 18" CRACK WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED BY SAFELITE WITH AN OEM REPLACEMENT - THE EXACT SAME WINDSHIELD AS WAS INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY. NOW A MONTH LATER, A SMALL ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND AGAIN CHIPPED THIS NEW WINDSHIELD - AND WITHIN 24 HOURS, THAT CHIP TURNED INTO A 12" CRACK ACROSS THE DRIVER'S SIGHT LINE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.

WHILE IN PARK WITH THE DRIVER DOOR OPEN, TRUCK OFF, RADIO ON, CONFIRMED SHIFTER WAS IN PARK POSITION. I ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED MANUAL TRANSMISSION CONTROL IN FRONT OF AND GEAR SELECTOR AT THUMB POSITION OF SHIFTER AS BOTH ARE UNAVOIDABLE. AS I WAS GETTING OUT TO REACH SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT, TRUCK RELEASED PARK AND ROLLED AWAY. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING IN D (DRIVE) THUMB ACCIDENTALLY MADE CONTACT WITH (-) CONTROL AND QUICKLY DECELERATED TO A QUICK STALLED STOP, BEGINNING AT 50 MPH DOWN TO A STOP IN THE ROAD IN LESS THAN ONE QUARTER OF A MILE. M (MANUAL) SELECTOR IS AN OPTION ON THE PANEL, HOWEVER, BOTH THESE EVENTS HAPPENED WHILE IN P AND D, RESPECTIVELY. IN PARK THE TRUCK WAS IN A STALL AND STOPPED. IN D THE TRUCK WAS TRAVELING AT 50 MPH. THIS IS A SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION THAT IS ALLOWING AN OVERRIDE OF BRAKING WHILE IN PARK AND RAPID SHIFTING AT THE TOUCH OF ONE CONTROL THAT SITS UNDER THE DRIVERS THUMB.

MY 2016 F150 HAS ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ("ACC") THAT APPLIES BRAKES IN THE EVENT A VEHICLE IS DETECTED IN LANE AHEAD IN ORDER TO MATCH SPEED AND MAINTAIN SAFE DISTANCE. F150 ALSO HAS COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM THAT INCREASES SENSITIVITY OF BRAKES IF IMMINENT COLLISION IS DETECTED. 2015 FORD F150 HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO A RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V614000) TO FIX PROBLEMS WITH ACC - THE ACC MAY FALSELY DETECT AN OBSTACLE IN ITS PATH AND MAY UNEXPECTEDLY APPLY THE BRAKES INCREASING THE RISK OF A REAR-END COLLISION FROM A FOLLOWING VEHICLE. MY 2016 F150 WAS BUILT AFTER THE DATE COVERED BY THE RECALL HOWEVER IT EXHIBITS THE EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL I.E. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO EXIST WITH FORD'S ACC SYSTEM AND THE RECALL WAS INSUFFICIENT. IN MY CASE, ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS FROM 3/19 THROUGH 3/26/2016 THE ACC SYSTEM ACTIVATED UNEXPECTEDLY AND FOR NO REASON, CAUSING HEAVY BRAKING AND IN ONE CASE ALMOST CAUSING COLLISION WITH A FOLLOWING VEHICLE. THE COLLISION WARNING LIGHTS ALSO LIT UP - THIS SYSTEM MAY ITSELF HAVE INCREASED SEVERITY OF BRAKING. BRAKING EVENTS OCCURRED WITH TWO DIFFERENT DRIVERS, ON STRAIGHT FREEWAY, NO STEERING INPUT, NO BRIDGES, OR SAFETY BARRIERS TO CONFUSE THE ACC RADAR. IN ALL CASES WE WERE DRIVING IN LEFT LANE OF A TWO LANE FREEWAY, APPROACHING TO PASS A LARGE VEHICLE TRAVELLING IN RIGHT LANE - A SEMI-TRUCK IN TWO CASES, EMPTY CAR TRANSPORTER IN OTHER TWO. THE VEHICLE BEING PASSED WAS WELL IN ITS LANE AND NOT DRIFTING OVER OR PRESENTING ANY DANGER TO OUR VEHICLE. FORD'S RESPONSE HAS BEEN THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" AND WAS DUE TO OUR DRIVING ON A CURVE, OR OTHER VEHICLE DRIFTING OVER OR SOME ROAD "FURNITURE" LIKE A BRIDGE / BARRIER CONFUSING THE SYSTEM. HOWEVER, NONE OF THESE FACTORS APPLIED.
EXHAUST SMELL IN CAB. HAVE TO DRIVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN TO GET RID OF IT. FORD SAYS THEY CAN ONLY HELP ME WHEN THE SMELL IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING MEANING I HAVE TO GO TO THE SHOP RIGHT THEN AND THERE. ALSO XM RADIO CUTS IN AT OUT. FORD KNOWS IT'S AN ISSUE BUT HAS NO FIX. IT'S AT THE SAME INTERSECTIONS EVERYDAY. THEY SAID KEEP CHECKING IN FOR POSSIBLE FIXED.
THE BED OF THE TRUCK IS SEPARATED FROM THE SIDE WALL OF THE TRUCK , THIS IS AROUND THE FENDER WELLS, ALLOWING WATER AND VAPORS INTO THE BED AREA OF THE VEHICLE.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL BRAKING ISSUE. MY NEW 2016 FORD F150 PLATINUM EDITION PICK UP TRUCK WILL AUTOMATICALLY BRAKE HARD WHEN PASSING SOME LARGE TRUCKS WHILE OPERATING IN ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. THE LANE AHEAD OF ME WAS CLEAR WITH NO VEHICLES IN SIGHT IN MY LANE EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED. THE LARGE TRUCKS I PASSED WERE ON MY RIGHT AND NOT IN MY LANE OR EVEN CLOSE TO THE LANE MARKERS. THE LARGE TRUCKS DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING HANGING OVER INTO MY LANE. THESE DANGEROUS BRAKING EVENTS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON VERY GOOD DRY HIGHWAYS AND FREEWAYS IN ARIZONA. I HAVE NO STICKERS OR AFTER MARKET ITEMS ON MY NEW F150 TRUCK. THIS HARD AUTOMATIC BRAKING HAPPENED TO ME ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH. IN EACH OF THE FOUR BRAKING EVENTS I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 65 AND 75 MPH ON STRAIGHT HIGH QUALITY ROADS IN ARIZONA. I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED SO I'M NO LONGER USING CRUISE CONTROL. AS OF TODAY 4/8 MY TRUCK IS AT THE MORGAN HILL FORD STORE IN MORGAN HILL CALIF FOR INSPECTION OF THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
SEAT HEADREST PROTRUDES TOO MUCH OUT OF THE SEAT AND IT PUSHES FORWARD HEAD OF SOME DRIVERS. THE ONLY ADJUSTMENTS AVAILABLE (SLIDE UP AND DOWN, TILT TOP FORWARD) DO NOTHING TO ALLEVIATE THE ISSUE. THE LACK OF ABILITY TO "SCOOT" THE ENTIRE HEADREST BACKWARDS CAUSES BACK AND NECK PAIN WHILE DRIVING FOR AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES. ONE SOLUTION PEOPLE ARE RESORTING TO IS TO RE-INSERT THE HEADREST BACKWARDS, BUT THE TILTING MECHANISM PREVENT THE HEAD FROM BEING STOPPED AND SENT BACKWARDS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. ANOTHER SOLUTION IS TO RECLINE THE SEAT BACK SO MUCH THAT YOUR BACK IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED. AGAIN A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN HITTING SMALL IMPERFECTION ON THE ROAD, EVEN IN DRY WEATHER, THE VEHICLE FEELS AS IF IT'S ABOUT TO FISHTAIL. SOME PEOPLE HAVE MENTION THE SUSPENSION IS TOO SLOW TO COMPENSATE FOR BUMPS AND THUS THE TIRE, FOR A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME, DOES LOSE CONTACT WITH THE ROAD. MY AUTO DRIVER SIDE VIEW MIRROR DEFAULTS TO A POSITION WHICH I CANNOT SEE BEHIND ME EVERY TIME I USE THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT FORD MAY HAVE INTENTIONALLY SET THE MIRROR TO BEHAVE THIS WAY. I FORGET TO ADJUST THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS WITH EACH ENTRY AND REALIZE THE MIRROR IS NOT ADJUSTED AFTER I AM ALREADY BACKING, SO I HAVE TO SLAM MY BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE SO THAT I CAN ADJUST THE MIRROR TO BACK SAFELY.

I HAVE A FORD F150 WITH ONLY 6K MILES. GREAT TRUCK! HOWEVER, THE FRONT DOOR HAS BEEN FREEZING UP IN 20-30 DEGREE WEATHER. THIS BECOMES AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. AIR LEAKING NOISES AND HIGH PITCH WHISTLES AROUND DOORS WHEN MOVING OVER 40 MPH. FORD SAYS IT'S NORMAL AND I SHOULD GET USED TO IT.
SINCE 2015 FORD HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LOCKS NOT LATCHING IN COLD WEATHER. I HAVE OWNED MY VEHICLE FOR A MONTH AND A HALF AND HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE TWICE NOW FOR THE SAME ISSUE. MOISTURE GETS INTO THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND THEN FREEZES. AFTER OPENING THE DOOR THERE IS NO WAY OF CLOSING IT AS LATCHES DO NOT GRAB AGAIN OR ON THE OTHER HAND THEY DON'T RELEASE. TWICE NOW I HAVE BEEN OUT AND ABOUT AND HAD DOORS THAT WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH MY 18 MONTH OLD SON'S DOOR HELD CLOSED WITH A RATCHET STRAP TO BE ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO SOLVE THIS.
I AGREED TO PURCHASE THIS F150 ON 1/27/2016 BUT REQUESTED THAT THE MUSHY BRAKES BE REPAIRED FIRST (PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR). WENT BACK TO DEALER 1/27 TO COMPLETE PAPERWORK AND PICK UP REPAIRED TRUCK. WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK WAS CHECKED BY THE SERVICE DEPT. AND THAT BRAKES WERE NORMAL. I COMPLETED THE PAPERWORK BUT LEFT THE TRUCK THERE TO BE CHECKED BY THE SERVICE DEPT. AGAIN THE NEXT MORNING. I GOT A PHONE CALL THE NEXT MORNING SAYING THE BRAKES HAD BEEN FIXED AND THE TRUCK WAS READY FOR PICKUP. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP I WENT TO THE TRUCK AND PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD BEEN CHECKED BY FOUR SERVICE TECHS AND ALL AGREED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. THEY ALSO GAVE ME A SERVICE REPORT SAYING THE BRAKE OPERATION WAS NORMAL. I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME THAT AFTERNOON SINCE IT DIDN'T APPEAR THAT THIS SERVICE DEPT WAS NOT QUALIFIED . ON 1/31 I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THEY SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BY-PASSING AND ORDERED A NEW ONE. IT CAME IN THE NEXT DAY AND I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR REPAIR. AFTER THE TRUCK WAS "REPAIRED" I GOT IN THE TRUCK TO HEAD BACK HOME. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WENT BACK IN AND REPORTED THAT IT WAS THE SAME AS BEFORE. AFTER DISCUSSIONS, THE SERVICE DEPT GOT A NEW TRUCK OFF OF THE SALES LOT AND SHOWED ME THAT THIS BREAK PEDAL ALSO WENT TO THE FLOOR, SO THIS PEDAL OPERATION WAS NORMAL. I TOOK MY TRUCK AND RETURNED HOME. NOW I HAVE A VERY EXPENSIVE TRUCK THAT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE. AFTER AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR MUSHY BRAKES I FIND THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

VERY POOR TAIL LIGHTS. THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE ONLY VISIBLE AT A SMALL AREA AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM. I HAVE BEEN STOPPED BY THE POLICE FOR NO TAIL LIGHTS. VERY POOR DESIGN ON THIS MODEL.
