While traveling down the highway at 60 plus MPH, my vehicle had shifted out of drive position into almost like a neutral position with the RPMS sky rocketing and then engaging in a much lower gear being 1st. This happening all so fast the vehicles back tires locked up and caused the vehicle to fish tail. This is the second time this has happened. The gear indicator on the dash then flashed between park reverse neutral and drive and manual 1 and 2. When this happens I have to try and pull over putting the shifter in park turning off the ignition and then trying to restart.
When on a curve and coasting to a lower speed, when you go to accelerate, the transmission downshifts to second gear which made my rear end spin and hit the median. If there would not have been a median, I would have went into oncoming traffic

Cam phaser needs replaced. Received Customer Satisfaction Program letter 21B10 in October 2021 which expired on February 28, 2022. At the time I wasn’t having the problem so I filed the letter away. Berglund Ford has determined my undesirable noise issue is indeed the cam phaser. I need the CSP letter to be reissued with a current date so my truck can be fixed and mailed to my current address please. I understand the same dealership currently has 3 Ford trucks in their service department for the same reason. Why has this issue not been adjusted as a recall instead of a Customer Satisfaction issue? The undesirable noise is getting worse and distracting when I’m driving. I only have a little under 40,000 miles on my truck and it has been well maintained.
Random downshift, loss of engine power, then power comes back at high RPMs then truck recovers. This has happened 3 times. Today, I was driving at approximately 55mph, with no throttle variation, the truck lost power and downshifted. Whatever gear it found it was enough to bark the tires.
I was stopped at a red light when all of a sudden with no warning my brake peddle went to the floor and my truck started rolling backwards. I was terrified, but luckily there was no one behind me else I would have hit them. I have a scheduled appointment with a ford dealer to check the brakes on Monday May 6th 2024. I looked up the issue and apparently some F150s have been recalled for a brake fluid leak from the brake boosters master cylinder- recall # 20S31 (22V150000). But my truck doesn't have any recalls?

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000.
I have a 2017, Ford F150 I have a knocking noise on the engine and I also have oil pan leak. It’s been like this since I had 85,000 mile now I am at 99,000 miles
Brake Booster failed to operate. When driving and needing to stop the brake peddle was stiff and would not compress failing to safely stop the vehicle. I had to stand on the brakes as hard as I could to come to a stop. Shortly afterwards the dashboard alerted me to Check Brake System. Upon reading DTCs it showed P0555 (Brake Booster Pressure Sensor Circuit) and P0556 (Brake Booster Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance). Vehicle no longer is safe to operate. I had this issue back in 2019 on several occasions but it was intermittent and self resolved itself after pumping the brakes. I took it to a Ford dealership. They kept the truck for 2 months saying they couldn’t duplicate the issue and that there were no recalls for my VIN and gave the truck back to me saying it was safe to drive. I have not had the issue again until now. Pumping the brakes and restarting the engine doesn’t make it go away like it did before.
This truck had the cam phaser cold rattle issue repaired at 42,490 miles. The new parts used were the same problematic part numbers as the original parts, intake part HL3Z-6256-CD and exhaust HL3Z-6C525-CD. The same issue has presented itself again while I am just over the 100K miles extended warranty that I had on the truck. Ford Corporate and the local Ford dealers are well aware of the issue and repaired the problem with the same defective parts. A new part number has been redesigned with a new part number that will actually fix the manufacturing defect, this is intake part ML3Z-6256-A and exhaust part ML3Z-6C525-A. I called the dealer and asked for the repair to be covered under warranty and was told no, I then was directed to contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673 and they admitted they are aware of the problem, but were not willing to help on the financial cost of the repair as the truck was nto under any extended warranty.
After the vehicle was started, it made a loud fatal noise. When the engine was opened up, it had a broken timing chain and bent valves. Warning lights appeared after the motor quit. The vehicle had only 44,000 miles and was not used roughly. It had the routine oil changes. We contacted the local dealership and was told that it may take more than a year to get a replacement engine and that because it was out of warranty, there was nothing that could be done for us. We have the vehicle in a storage area while we try to decide what to do with it.

The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I am aware of the cam phase issue with 2017-2020 F150s 3.5 Eco Boost. I have 68K miles and I took it to the dealership as my cam phasers are failing and making the engine loud and ready to fail. The repair bill is 4K and I called Ford Customer Care. They told me to file a complaint with NHTSA and my case # is CXH-01938744. Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 – Supplement #1 Certain 2017-2020 Model Year F-150, 2018-2020 Expedition, and 2018-2020 Navigator Vehicles Equipped with a 3.5L GTDI Engine Cam Phaser Replacement REF: Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 Dated March 2, 2021 New! REASON FOR THIS SUPPLEMENT They told my vehicle should be covered. I am never received the mailing about the issue. I am the original owner and I had a ford extended warranty.

I have a 2017 F150 that has this exact same down shifting issue mentioned in the following recall. “Ford Motor Company (Ford) Recall No. 24S37 Chronology CERTAIN 2014 FORD F-150 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS – UNEXPECTED TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT.” This issue has happened to me several times at various speed. The issue started occurring several months ago. There is no way to predict when the issue will occur, it’s completely random. I have taken it to an independent mechanic who was not able to reproduce the issue or diagnose the problem. There were no codes stored in the scanner tool they use. I have not taken it to Ford since there is no way they can reproduce the issue. I have reported it to Ford, case CXH-02297813-T0J8Q0 There was a recall previously for the same issue for 2011-2013 years and has now since been expanded to include 2014. The Ford reference number for the previous recall is 19S07. My 2017 F150 has the same transmission and it seems like more than a coincidence that I have experienced the exact same issue and have the same transmission. I believe that Ford needs to investigate all year models that have the same transmission and expand their recall to include them. I’m assuming the only included 2014 recently because they got complaints from owners?
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake line fractured, and the brakes failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the brake line had fractured, and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
1.) TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTING SLAMMING HARD INTO 1ST RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. 2.) TRANSMISSION STUTTERING IN 2ND, 3RD & 4TH GEAR. 3.) WOULDN'T SHIFT UNTIL INTO THE HIGH RPM'S AT NORMAL ACCELERATION. 4.) HAS PUT ME AT RISK MULTIPLE TIMES ALMOST CAUSING WRECK TO OTHER DRIVERS. 5.) SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY COMING ON AND OFF 6.) HAD A 3RD PARTY OVERHAUL THE TRANSMISSION & TORQUE CONVERTER BACK IN APRIL 3, 2024.
-3.5L turbo engine cam phaser rattle when starting. Yes - I do not believe safety is at risk -this is a common know problem per customer stratification program 21N03. When I contacted the dealer, they did not show this number so they did not look at it. -My vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. When I contacted the dealer, they hid not have the 21N03 in their system. -I do not think my safety was at risk -There are not any warning lights or messages. I do have a rattle at start up (mainly cold startup). It appears that the customer satisfaction program ended in January of 2023. My vehicle did not have the noise at that time or at least it was not noticeable. Since covid I have not driven the normal amount of miles so my vehicle is still within the mileage limit, however the date ended and to my knowledge I was not notified that there was an expiration date.
Cruise control randomly disabled several times while traveling. This is a known issue with the Clock spring and is a significant safety issue!
The codes I uploaded the dealer is telling us that it is now requiring a new engine. All of the issues has an NTHS bulletin and is a recall on the same trucks same year except my Vin is cut off and not included, but is having the same exact issues as the ones in the recalls
Reference active NHTSA action RQ24005 regarding Ford F-150 pickups with the 6-speed 6R80 automatic transmission from multiple years. My 2017 F-150 with the same referenced transmission is experiencing the EXACT same issues as described in the investigation specifically hard down shifts while traveling at highway speeds of over 70 mph. From my research of user forums I am led to believe the 2017 models should also be included in this investigative action. I have less than 52000 miles on this vehicle and am the only owner. I have gotten estimates from $1800 to $5000 for repair. Of course it is just outside the power train warranty of 6 years but well under if mileage was still being considered. Very frustrating to say the least. Please help this consumer and thank you for all you are doing to keep us safe in supporting everyone with vehicle issues. I have included screenshots from my Ford Pass application of the communicated issue.
When merging onto the freeway (60MPH) a wrench icon illuminated and my engine shifted to 3rd gear (limp mode) causing my entire truck to jerk forward. I was then forced to pull off the freeway with my engine RPM's upward near 4000. Once I was able to safely pull off the roadway. I turned off my truck and attempted to turn it back on with no avail. The engine would not even attempt to turn over. I eventually got the truck to start and drove it to the nearest ford dealership to have the now illuminated check engine light code read. The code said "error on the transmission range sensor". Ford cleared the code and sent me on my way. The same exact incident occurred 2 more times and is now having a $1200 repair to the transmission on a part called the "molded lead frame" It appears this same issue is prevalent in the same transmission (6R80) on older models 09-13 and there was a recall issued. my hopes is to bring awareness to NHSTA in order to further the recall for all ford's to have their lead frames replaced before a more significant issue arises when someone is driving on the freeway.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds and while in reverse, the vehicle jerked abnormally. He CAM Phasers have gone bad and I was told some F150 model years had this defect covered as part of a previous recall, but not the this particular year and make. The replacement cost avg 4k-5k and when you read the various blogs, this is a recurring problem.

This has happened several times and at random. While accelerating normally truck has randomly downshifted into lower gear causing abrupt and unexpected deceleration. Was nearly rear ended by driver following.
While driving, the rear window opened up by itself and would not close. Controls were dead. Found a wire bundle (not a harness) which runs from the body control module to several sensors, including the 110V power converter, were worn through shorting out. The wiring lies in a channel along the rocker panel on the interior of the vehicle. The wiring is not protected from abrasion which led to the abrasion of the wires shorting out. Since 110V is running along this same channel, the potential for a fire is high, plus shorting 110V AC with 12V DC.
The contact's boyfriend owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
While I am driving my vehicle the speed drops while I’m pushing on the peddle. After a few seconds the gear catches itself and I can drive at normal speed.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 20-30 MPH, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the grinding sound was due to the Four-wheel Drive system attempt to engage erroneously. A transmission software update was performed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
2/29/2024 driver side tire was flat 3/1/24: I wanted to put the spare so that I could take the fire for repair. But the factory issue lug nut wrench does not fit. How can you do this to people? This is ridiculous 3/2/24 I went to the store to buy a nut remover This should not be allowed to happen and you get away without giving the customer a proper tool
I was driving home from work and without any warning I lost the ability to accelerate when I was on the freeway, a message popped up on my truck screen Powertrain Malfuction/Reduce power. I was lucky this time around as I was able to cost to the shoulder Cars however were speeding up to me and around me as I could not accelerate my truck. If this would have happen when I was towing my old 35 foot trailer it could have been deadly. I noticed a recall for this exact same issue on 2011 trucks, forms online seem to suggest others have had this same issue with newer 2017 trucks also. The issue turns out to be the Molded lead frame failure. Once more same issue from recall title was6r80 recall number 19507. Seems like ford did not fix it only prolong the issue or kicked it down the road. My truck is 100K others around 77K it failed so I am assuming it will happen as trucks get around 100K.

Have had the rear door locks stop working during the cold, it would not allow the doors to shut and stay shut. I did have children in car seats in the truck at the time. After trying to get the locks to work for about 10 minutes they stared working again. Also have an oil leak that was discovered while having an oil change. I became aware of Technical Service Bulletin: 23/2083, NHTSA ID Number: 10233594 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and related the failure to the TSB. Called the dealership and they said they couldn't do anything about it because there was no recall for it. My truck is included in the vehicles from the Kansas and Detroit plants that are affected by a defective oil pan. The manufacturer is refusing to issue a recall.

The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
Transmission is hard shifting both when up and downshifting which causes vehicle to slip or spin out in wet or slippery conditions. Ford Dealership has technical service Buliton 24-2101 which identifies a problem with the hard shifting. At this point they are not offer a recall. Online this hard shifting issue is listed as as a problem on many Forums. Also, ford does has a recall on the same transmissions in the F250 model but not the F150 model from what I understand. The Ford Dealership gave the Following Assessment on the Transmission: Year 2017 Make Model Body Color 02/06/18 License Num!
