The 10-speed transmission in my 2018 ford f150 shifts erratically causing a huge safety concern for myself and passengers. Pulling out onto highways and crossing intersections have become increasing dangerous when my truck doesn’t shift and essentially stalls in the middle of oncoming and crossing traffic. This is a known concern with these transmissions and the service bulletins issued by ford to “fix” these problems have not done so. This truck and its faulty transmission is a danger to my family and others on the roadway and needs to be fixed.
Vehicle continues to slip with the transmission and also lose power. I took it to FORD to get it checked out, and they provided the code of p07f7. From what I've read online, this isn't the first time this has happened and their transmission are very faulty. The vehicle will downshift from whichever gear to 1st, and nearly causing multiple wrecks. The wrench light is the only thing that will come on to notify of the problem.
Transmission slips, does not engage, sputters in 3rd, 4th and 10th gear causing lack of power, stalled reaction, jerking motion. Such problems have caused temporary blocking of moving roadways, inability to move safety through traffic. Has been serviced once by dealer. problem first appearead at 50k miles.
Vehicle did not have tires pressure sensors at the moment of the purchased
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a misfire coming from the engine and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was unofficially diagnosed with failed catalytic convertor sensors, which provided false failure codes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with catalytic convertor failure. The contact was informed that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
Windshield Wipers stopped working
I experience hard upshifts and downshifts between gears 1,3,7. This causes me to thrust forward without notice and nearly collide with other vehicles. The truck will also act as if it is searching for gears which causes it to stall in the middle of ongoing or oncoming traffic. I have taken the vehicle to both an independent transmission company and a Ford dealership. Both have arrived at the same conclusion which is that I have a faulty transmission that was not properly inspected by Ford upon original installation. In order to possibly fix the problem, the transmission will need to be replaced or conduct an overhaul of parts. I have also sent several letters to Ford and they have responded with minimal concern or care for the issue.
On [XXX] I dropped of my truck at Jim Click Green Valley/Sahuarita Arizona. I was hearing a knocking noise while truck in parked / stopped position. On [XXX], I was advised the truck was ready for pick up. The results read, “C/S: Engine knock in engine bay *check and advise -partners Perform engine diag perform 2 extensive test drive load test the vehicle and listen to the engine noise, only the normal high pressure pump noise all ok at this time.” Very concerning results as noise not present until recently and not what would be considered normal especially with “…all ok at this time.” Extended warranty expires in less than 5,000 miles. The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the engine made a loud rattling sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the cam phasers and solenoids were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Rear window shattering when remote started and auto rear defogger auto engaged 1-22-24
This pickup has been regularly maintained with the manufacturer suggested maintenance. At 86k miles the engine seized while we were traveling down the road.
Transmission has failed more than once in 4 month span. Ford dealership states its the parts and not them. When traveling down the freeway at speed limits the truck went from a high gear to low gear. Whiplash my head. Now the dealership is stating that another part failed the transmission which I think they don't want to replace there mess.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the contact became aware that the driver's and passenger's doors had failed to latch securely. The door ajar warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the door check arm attachment point. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000. The VIN was unavailable.
THE PASSENGER BACK DOOR LATCH, SOMETIMES WHEN THE DOOR CLOSES IT SAYS REAR RIGHT DOOR AJAR. IT TAKES A FEW TIMES TO OPEN AND CLOSE IT FOR THE LIGHT TO GO OFF.. NOONE'S SAFETY HAS BEEN PUT AT RISK YET DOOR STILL LOCKS BUT COULD BECOME UNSAFE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLES HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY MANUFACTURER OR INSURANCE OR OTHERS YET. THE DOOR LIGHT COMES ON IF DOOR IS NOT CLOSED PROPERLY AND WILL STAY ON SOMETIMES.
Lights independently flicker on and off continuously until the battery is completely drained and died. No capability to stop this from occurring.
Tailgate actuator sometimes does not open completely. Pressin the button engages the operation, I can hear it trying to unlatch, but the tailgate does not completely release. If the tailgate is not in use for awhile, opens as intended for few times.
On January 16, 2024 We had been driving in 4 wheel drive. When we arrived home put the truck in 2 wheel drive, then in park, set the emergency brake and got out. We went in the house. A minute or two later the alarm on the truck started up. When I opened the door the truck was rolling down the driveway into the street. On January 17, 2024 We again had been driving in 4 wheel drive. Arrived home put it back in 2 wheel drive, put it in park, set the emergency brake and got out. My husband sat in the driver's side while I got my twin granddaughters out of the passenger side because the driver's side rear door doesn't work properly in icy weather. As I as unbuckling my granddaughter's seat the truck began rolling down the driveway. I had to run away from the truck. I ended up hitting ice, falling on my back and hitting my head hard. Later in the day we took it out and tried it again and had the same results. Even with the truck in park and the emergency brake engaged the truck rolled down a slight incline.
Passenger door actuator would not reingange the door after opening. Temperature was around 15 Farenheit for awhile. Door opened with some effort, but would not latch back. If vehicle was in motion door would need to be held to prevent opening. The vehicle could be locked for the door to stay in place, but it would not sit flush with the body of the vehicle.
Experienced harsh or missed shifting of gears, sudden loss of power, and clunking sounds while driving. The transmission failed only after 81,000 miles and needed a completely new remanufactured one.
when the temp outside is below freezing the driver-side door will not latch shut and the doors will not lock.
Leaking antifreeze from t clamp with quick connects
This is the 6th winter I have had my truck. Every winter, the door locks freeze to the point the doors won't close. I have called ford, they have replaced the door locks. The problem still persists. I went to warm them up with a torch today to get them working again. I left and once again the door flew open under braking. I have called ford on this, they need to fix it before something really bad happens. This has happened at least once every winter. I am afraid to drive the thing when it freezes for fear of the doors flying open. the only warning lamp happens once the door is open. It won't go into gear. That's great and all but it doesn't let me know when the door may be compromised due to freezing. The dealer and ford have both confirmed this a known problem. I believe there was even a recall. They replaced all my door locks. The problem still persists. I believe this is a huge safety risk. Alls it take is for one person not wearing their seatbelt to make a right hand turn. If the door swings open, they very well could fall out and possibly get run over and even worse send a 5,000 pound unmanned vehicle into who knows what.
Doors keep freezing and they won't stay shut when you drive if it gets below 25 degrees
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during cold starts, there was a rattling sound coming from the engine. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while changing gear and the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the cam phasers were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the Manufacturer's Extended Warranty Coverage for the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
10-Speed Transmission went at 53,000 miles.
Driving and the transmission coolant lines all rusted & broke. As a result, coolant fluid will leak completely therefore potential damage to other components. This was an issue with some older model Ford F150 too. Worse part is that 2 of the needed parts are on backorder with no expected dates for availability.
Transmission causing harsh shifts, random shifting and complete failure in the middle of the road. It is available for inspection at any given time. These transmission issues have left me stranded at red lights, in the middle of intersections, and on interstate highways and have become a major safety hazard for myself and those around me on the road. Two men from Bob Ruth Ford in Dillsburg, PA diagnosed that there was an error code for a bad solenoid. Another local independent garage mechanic said that likely meant I need a new valve body. The only warnings I’ve gotten until recent when failure occurs was a “see manual” notification on occasion. Twice within the last week I’ve also received a check engine light immediately after failure. This vehicle only has 61,000 miles on it.
1) My 2017/2018 Ford F-150 has had numerous mechanical issues since I purchased it in May of 2018. The issues were initially repaired by the "dealer" as it was under either factory or extended warranty. The most note worthy issues, which is the purpose of my correspondence as it potentially could lead to a vehicle fire, is the leakage of oil from the oil pan (second time being repaired) and the driver's side valve cover (first time). The issues are reportedly caused, says Ford, due to faulty material used in the gasket of the oil pan and poor material used in the manufacturing of the valve cover (leading to cracking and subsequent oil leakage). These issues, if not repaired at great cost, can result in a vehicle fire. 2) No fire has been experienced nor has the vehicle been examined by an independent mechanic. 3) The only warning I had of a mechanical problem with the engine, again, was oil droplets on my driveway. There was no indication of the faulty driver's side engine valve cover until the Ford mechanic brought it to my attention just this week. It is unknown how long the valve cover has been leaky oil on the top of the engine. 4) My vehicle is currently at the Ford dealership as the necessary repairs at great expense are being conducted.
Door latch broke when wet then freezes. Black handle.
10 speed transmission started hesitating to shift and/or shifting erratically. This created a situation where there was a lack of power when attempting to accelerate. The vehicle felt as though it went briefly into neutral while trying to find the right gear. When the transmission engaged, it did so with a jerking action which caused the passenger(s) to be thrown back into seat. This condition first presented in 2020 at which time the transmission was “reprogrammed “. It recently happened again, was “reprogrammed”, but showed trouble codes which could not be reset. Dealer recommended a new transmission or a vehicle replacement. Currently waiting to see if Ford has any further assistance to offer.
While I was driving slow on a dirt road and after driving for like an hour on an Interstate road engine just shut off and got a message on my dashboard. I tried to upload the picture I took and the message appeared on my dashboard but it’s not letting me.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal rattling sound. The contact stated that the service engine soon warning light illuminated temporarily. The contact stated that a week later, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with failed cam phasers. The contact was informed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover 40% of the cost for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 98,561.
My transmission has a shifting problem. Skipping gears, delay and slipping. Dangerous to drive and to make a left turn is always a challenge, cause you'll never know what will happen.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving downhill at approximately 45 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear, causing the RPMs to elevate abnormally, and the vehicle decelerated unintendedly. Additionally, it was discovered that the vehicle would only drive uphill while using manual transmission mode and could not drive uphill in automatic transmission mode. The contact stated that later, the transmission malfunction wrench was displayed. The vehicle was towed the local dealer who discovered metal shavings inside the transmission fluid and advised the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Rear window is held in place with a piece of trim, which is held in place by double-sided tape. It is a safety issue as the window can become dislodged and injured occupants. Ford is aware of this as the Ford company Refuses to fix this on many of the forum websites.. this has been going on since 2015. It is also a safety issue as anyone can easily push the window open with their hand, and could access the vehicle to steal it, or to injure the occupants. Based on the few forums that I looked up under Google, there are hundreds of vehicles like this, and probably tens of thousands. Ford has failed to issue and fails to repair the window as they say it’s a piece of trim although the trim is what holds in the window. Essentially a few small pieces of tape hold the window in and this should’ve never been built like this. I’m counting on nhtsa to do a full investigation and protect me and my family.
REAR CAMERA not operating for last 1+ years. Ford dealer on 6/17/2025 diagnosed -- Recommended replacing REAR CAMERA ($730 for camera replacement on top of $221 already paid to diagnose). Initially REAR CAMERA operated intermittently, then occasionally, then for last 1+ year totally inoperable. Why not covered under massive Ford REAR CAMERA failure recall?
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission intermittently downshifted into first gear. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the transmission. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal or the brake pedal, the vehicle jerked abnormally, and the transmission unexpectedly downshifted with the check engine and transmission warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the failure was a transmission failure. The contact was provided with an estimate for a new transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer, who informed the contact that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.
Cold start engine rattle
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the driver’s side door latch froze and failed to latch securely. The contact stated that the failure occurred in colder climates for several hours. The contact stated that after the vehicle had warmed up for 15 minutes, the door latch operated as designed and the door closed properly. The contact was concerned about the safety of the vehicle with the door not locking as needed. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed, and the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
The first day I brought it home it was knocking. I took it back and they said it was high volume fuel pump making noise. Then they said it was a recall on cam sensor . They told us if we had it fixed before 90,000 miles it would cost me about 2,000 to repair. But we had a 100,000 mile drive train warranty. So they wouldn’t fix it. When my f150 reach 100,000 miles then the transmission started dropping in to first gear from 10 th gear. Now it hangs up in gear's. Shifts to wrong gears. This issue is very dangerous
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle jerked while in first gear and the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the vehicle made an abnormal rattling sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with failed cam phasers and that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
While idling at a stop light I could smell an oil burning smell. I continued to monitor the smell the rest of the day and determined an excessive amount of oil dripping from the bottom of the vehicle and also excessive oil puddling near the driver side valve cover in the engine compartment. The amount of oil in the engine compartment is enough to warrant a fire hazard. Diagnosis is a cracked valve cover. No engine warning lights appeared, however excessive oil consumption and a possible fire hazard remains. Vehicle is scheduled for service, however it will takes a few weeks to get a service appointment and parts in stock....
The 10-speed transmission in my 2018 Ford F-150 shifts erratically. Traveling in 10th gear the transmission essentially de-rates (loss of power and speed) and the information panel displays the transmission dropping out of 10th gear to 1st gear (Flashes the Wrench Symbol to See Manual) but doesn't actually shift. It takes several seconds for the transmission to determine what gear to go to and finally it ends up shifting into 5th - 7th gear and shifting begins to be normal for a time. To be clear this "Wrench - See Manual" symbol is not present in the manual itself. Additionally, upon the next cycle power (Turn Vehicle Off and On) the Wrench symbol goes away and there is no check engine light, Fault Codes that can be seen by plugging into the OBD2 connector. It was only until I brought it into the Ford Dealership that they were able to plug into the transmission to obtain stored faulted codes. This is a huge safety concern for myself and passengers. Does someone need to lose their life or lives before this is fixed? These erratic shifts first started late December when the temperatures started to drop below 20 degree F and as low as 30 degree F below zero in the Midwest (WI, IA, IL & MN). I attributed the transmission shift issues to be temperature related and not the transmission itself. I was also being told it's just the way the adaptive transmission works with temperatures and how the driver drives. My judge was that this erratic shifting was not normal and prompted me to bring it into the Ford Dealer.
The contact owns 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the cam phasers, the timing chain, and other unknown parts were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the front passenger's side door and the rear passenger's side and driver's side doors failed to unlock as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the failure was related to an unknown recall. An appointment was scheduled for the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Auto start stop button is clearly malfunctioning. Battery is good, alternator good. Even if I hold in the button to keep it shut off, my truck with just shut off in the middle of driving and tell me to place in park and restart. Dangerous and after research i’m only 1 out of thousands with same issue

Transmission, on 5 year F150 truck slips, and sometimes wont go in revers, huge safety issue. This issue almost caused an accident a few time in one week. We took truck to dealership. They did concur it is not drivable IF NOT FIXED This is a huge safety issue for all 2018 f150 trucks. we never received any recall info on truck if there were any. imagine a vehicle you cant go in reverse , or transmission stops as you pull into an intersection. luckily for us our family was not involved in an accident. a 5 year old vehicle's transmission should not fail on any manufacture.. According to several 2018 f150 owners this is an issue. someone will die in a accident if this is not addressed.
