the transmission on my 2018 ford 150 is slipping and shifting so rough that i am somewhat afraid to drive it in traffic . this is the third time its in the shop for the same problem.. Sometimes it shifts so hard the transmission makes a clunking sound and jerks our necks. Ford seems unable to fix the problem. There were never any warning alerts of a malfunction but the problem is so bad now that i dont want to drive it. It has been doing this for about three years now.
Frozen door latches. When its cold and you open the door, then close the door it does not latch.

Vehicle transmission is shifting hard and often time slipping. Causing us to lose power until it finally gets into gear. It's nearly caused us accidents due to the sudden loss of power. It is available for inspection. We live in an area with high traffic tourist volume and has caused us multiple near accidents. It has been checked by a mechanic. The code thrown every time was P0732. The code was thrown the first time it did it 2 weeks ago.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission experienced rough shifting. There was a recall on Ford F150 cam phasers years 2017-2020, but my VIN was not included. Our cam phaser has gone bad. It rattles and shakes. Please include our VIN in the recall so our engine doesn’t go out.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the message "Power Access" was displayed and the steering wheel could not be turned in either direction, making the vehicle undrivable. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The truck currently has 75xxx miles on it. I've had it in at the dealership before for transmission issues. The repairs/fix they did lasted for a while before the same problems came back. It started as rough shifting/jerking. Recently the truck will, when accelerating, jump out of gear completely while indicating on the dash that it is in gear, and the engine will rev up on its own (up to 3500 rpm) for several seconds before violently jerking into gear. I worry that the engine may try to rev up while actually in gear and cause rapid acceleration and possibly an accident if it's unable to be stopped in time.
Rattling when cold start. Was told I need new cam phasers and timing components. Told me it’s a common problem.
Once the temperature drops below freezing, the door latches will quit working. If I open the door then it will not latch when I try to close the door. This has happened every winter since i have owned the truck. I have taken it into the dealer multiple times for this issue. I believe they even replaced the door latches on one of the occasions but now that it is winter again this year they are not latching when I close the door. This has happened on the front and rear door latches. There must be an issue inherent with the design if they did replace the latches and I'm still having trouble. I believe they need to look at a redesign.
This morning, even after using the remote start to warm up the truck, the door lock mechanism wouldn’t close. My door was ajar and would not latch on its own until several hours later when the temperature was above 30. We used a screwdriver to manually move the latch to the proper place, but it wouldn’t flip to latch it once shut. As soon as a had was released from the door handle the door opened on its own. I couldn’t drive to work without a door that shuts, this caused me to have to miss part of my morning and caused a hardship on not only myself, but those I work with.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while exiting the garage, the vehicle hesitated and bucked. While driving, the vehicle shifted into first, second, third, and fourth gears and started to hesitate; then downshifted to first gear. There was an abnormal winding noise detected. The vehicle was skipping gears. Upon accelerating, the vehicle was stuck in sixth gear. Additionally, while driving, the vehicle lost motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The message “See Your Manual” was displayed. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called an independent mechanic and was informed about a diagnostic test. The transmission was drained, and a transmission flush was performed. There was a transmission code displayed: P2702-00 transmission friction element; see time range performance, not currant DCT. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000. The VIN was not available.
Rear window exploded after starting the truck. Glass shards and chunks flew into the truck . This is the 3rd F150 truck that I've owned that has had this happen.
Ford has a known motor defect with 2018-2020 F150 pickups with coyote engine. In my case at 57k miles dealer determined I need a new engine due to this oil consumption issue caused by the costing they sprayed on the motor cylinders. Searching the internet thousands of this model have same issue and ford refuses to recall it. In fact I am having issues even getting Ford to cover it under warranty. While I jave not experienced a safety issue yet, if the motor seizes while on the highway it is highly likely to cause a safety risk. Fords fix as indicated by attachment is to extend the dipstick so you put additional oil(takes 10 qts by default so requiring more) to hide the issue from consumers. Their goal for sure is to hide the issue from consumers until out if warranty.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions, at various speeds, he observed a grinding sound emanating from the engine compartment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle failed to shift into 3rd gear and struggled to shift into 4th gear. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at highway speeds and shifting from 9th to 10th gear, the vehicle gear shift indicator displayed that the transmission was in 10th gear; however, the vehicle failed to respond upon depressing the accelerator pedal and would downshift to 7th gear on some occasions, and to 1st gear on other occasions. The power train warning light was illuminated, and the message "See Owner’s Manual" was displayed intermittently. The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, the warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Metro Ford Sales & Service, Inc. (6455 S Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60636), where it was diagnosed with CDF Drum failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
The 4WD system tries to engage on its own only in cold weather for the first 1/2 to 1 mile of driving. Somehow the vacuum isn’t holding.
When cold starting the vehicle, it makes a loud knocking noise for several seconds. I looked this up online and apparently it's a problem with the Cam Phasers. A recall was issued for trucks made in two of their plants. Left unrepaired, this will cause slack in the timing chain, which can lead to severe engine damage. I was never notified of this recall. When I began to hear the noise, I went to the dealer to get the diagnosis and repair. The dealer informed me of the recall and that it had expired. My repair estimate is $3600 + tax. In the 4 1/2 years I've owned the vehicle, I moved 4 times, which may have been why I never received the recall notice. I believe since this is a known manufacturing defect, it should be covered no matter the circumstances.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on the initial start-up of the vehicle, the vehicle was shuddering. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted to the side of the road and after several attempts was able to regain functionality of the vehicle. The failure was persistent. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer confirmed the failure was related to TSB: 10189763 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and 10199482 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the TSB had since expired. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that the recall had expired. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file the complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
We have had several problems with this vehicle since we bought it in 2020. It uses way too much oil for it to be new. We were told it was a common issue, but if the oil level ever gets down to a certain point, the truck acts weird. We have to put 3-5 quarts of oil in the truck in between oil changes (3,000 miles). We have put the truck in the shop several times for different issues, specifically engine knocking that we were told was "just how the motor is, all of the 5.0L engines do this," and oil issues. We also just had purchased it, and the timing belt broke while driving. We understand that used vehicles often come with problems that cannot be diagnosed before purchasing, but the vehicle only had 30k miles on it. My husband was driving down the highway today and the truck flashed "auto start/stop disengaged" and the truck died. DOWN THE HIGHWAY. Luckily, he was able to pull over and restart his truck. The 5.0L motor and the 2018 F150s are trash. As you are - or should be - aware, there are SEVERAL lawsuits against Ford that coincide with the issues that we have had out of this truck, yet no recalls have been made. Can't they see that it is a lemon? PLEASE take our complaint (and those of many others) and have this vehicle recalled before someone is killed due to a faulty vehicle. I should not have to constantly worry about my husband driving this vehicle. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing that it is a ticking time-bomb.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the oil pressure warning light illuminated. The vehicle then made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the oil drain plug had detached, causing all of the engine oil to leak out of the oil pan. The mechanic added oil to the engine; however, the check engine warning light illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, but the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated. The independent mechanic determined that the crankcase ventilation system had disconnected; however, no repair was performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
I own a 2018 Ford F150 the vehicle had 44,831 miles at the time of repairs. The problem was with the Transmission it had a very hard shift from 4th to 5th gear. At the time of repairs the vehicle was five months out of warranty. I don't think I should have to overhaul a vehicle transmission with that mileage.

The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
While accelerating from a stop, my truck would shift from 1st to 2nd gear, followed by a random jump of gears causing the truck to lose power. This occurred a couple times mid-turn across a divided highway with cars coming towards me. The dealer was able to reproduce the issue and said the problem was the CDF bushing that could become mis-aligned over time causing a restricted flow of transmission fluid, preventing proper shift. It first appeared in fall/winter of 2023. By March 2024 the transmission had to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during cold starts, there was an abnormal shuddering sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the horn was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 62,902.
The Transmission in my 2018 F150 has failed. I recently returned from deployment and begin to start driving my truck again from being in storage with minimal driving done to it while I was away to find out that the transmission had begin to slip gears, loose power, make sudden stalls while driving and shift erratically while traveling. While commuting to work pulling out from a dead stop the vehicle has stalled a number of times living me in the cross of oncoming traffic of speeds of 50+ MPH. The truck is currently in the shop and Ford diagnosed it as a bad transmission that needs to be replace. There were no warning lights until the transmission failed completely.
I own a 2018 ford f150 vin# [XXX] with 44000 miles the vehicle have a problem with the 10 speed transmission it has a hard upshift from 4th to 5th gear. And sometimes when it downshifts. I took it to the local ford dealer and was told to repair it they needed to do a complete overhaul. As I said before the vehicle only have 44000 miles on it I don't think the transmission should need a overhaul at such a low mileage. Can you help me with what I should do. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Many issues with transmission shifting hard. Transmission not downshifting while stopped, so unable to take off normally. Transmission not engaging at all while on interstate traveling 65mph, forced to pull over to avoid causing accident. Warning lights including wrench, and engine appear, then disappearing after ignition turned off and on again. When taken to dealership it was reported that the transmission needs replacement for $9100.

Will driving at hiway speed the transmission drops out of high gears and shifts down to 1st gear causing loss of power and control. To dangerous to drive.
Vehicle randomly stalled out as I was slowing down and an error appeared stating that there was a problem with the auto on/off feature and that I would need to put the vehicle in park and restart it manually. Fortunately I was turning onto a side road but if this was to happen as I was trying to make a quick turn through traffic it would have been a much larger issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 77 MPH, the vehicle independently downshifted to a lower gear. The contact pulled over and allowed the vehicle to cool down before starting to return to drive the vehicle. The wrench warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 120,100.
Rear Slider Windshield Randomly Shattered glass everywhere while vehicle parked no signs of impact no force entry just glass everywhere. vehicle parked in secure area. the only plossible clause I can think of is Remote start I assume it was the remote start. I verified AC status and no defrost was on.
Ford issued Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 on Nov 19th, 2021 which covers all F-150s manufactured in their Deerborn plant from March 2016 through Nov 2019 which mine was. My truck is now in dire need of this repair and Ford is refusing to cover this. Since Ford did not include my VIN in this program I was never notified in Nov of 21 during which time I was well within the mileage limit as to which they would cover the repair. I asked Ford why my VIN wasn't included in this program and they had said I had to be included in a prior program 21B10 to be included in this one. So I asked about the prior program and they indicated to me that it only covered vehicles manufactured in their Kansas plant. From my research it seems as if my truck should have been included in both programs, provided notification at the time and repaired my vehicle as a result. Now I am out of the mileage after 2.5 years of further driving and have a very expensive $3,500 repair bill in front of me.

The transmission is failing on my truck. This is a known issue with my year model F150 where the 10speed transmission since I bought it brand new shifts terribly causing it to shutter and shake. It got worse over time and continued to bring it up to the dealership. Finally my last check up I said it is getting really bad and they said it was fine. Then driving it down the highway I almost get in an accident. Out of know where it downshifted from about 70 mph to almost 50 causing the car to violently jolt and the wheels squeeling. Then I couldnt accelerate again for a few seconds and luckily the car started accelerating again. Car behind me had to lock up the breaks and I honestly thought we were going to flip. Reverse stopped working and then all of a sudden after all of that a orange wrench light came on(never came on before that). When you turn the vehicle off the orange wrench goes away until you drive it for about 15 minutes. Brought it back into the SAME dealership and did a drive along with a mechanic and he said before we left the parking lot that he can tell it is the transmission and if he drove it when I brought it in before he would have known that was the issue. Even told by the mechanic that this is a known issue by Ford HQ for 2018 and 2019 models. It was fixed in 2020, but they have no real fix for my year vehicle and told me there is about a 50/50 chance that a new transmission would help. Very scary that they will not only not address it, but let people continue to drive these vehicles with this issue that could cause major accidents on the road. They now say I need a new transmission and not covered by warranty of course, pushing back on the issue so they don't have to pay is more important than my safety and the safety of my kids that were in the back. Absolutely horrible that they put $$ over safety on a well documented issue with this year vehicle. I have see hundreds of reviews out there reporting this same exact issue.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000.
Purchased this used 2018, F-150 truck at a Ford Dealership on 08/26/23. Mileage was 73,110. Vehicle was covered by the manufacturer’s Ford Blue Advantage and had allegedly passed a 172 point inspection to be Gold Certified. Less than 2 months after purchase in mid October, the transmission and associated performance of the vehicle became unpredictable. Symptoms started on October 14, with hard, erratic shifting. On October 16, wrench indicator light came on. With no warning, there would be a loss of power when accelerating, an inability to shift into gear when starting from a stopped position, and erratic/hard shifting once moving. Brought the vehicle to our local licensed mechanic to assess the wrench indicator light. Four codes were noted. Two were cleared and two remaining codes indicated internal transmission component issues. After test driving the vehicle, our mechanic agreed it was not safe to drive the vehicle. Vehicle was then brought to the local Ford dealership on October 19 to further assess. It is now November 16, and dealership has just received authorization from Ford to replace the transmission.
Transmission has hard shifts between 3rd and 4th gear and when reaching 10th gear dashboard show’s transmission shifting to 1st and then 7th before slamming into 9th gear. This caused a panic situation at high speeds. Vehicle has since been to the dealership and advised that a new transmission is needed. Without performing any of Fords TSB for possible problems.

When parked, l returned to the vehicle to get my wallet, opened the driver’s side door, got the wallet, then locked and closed the door. Suddenly the rear windshield exploded, leaving a gaping hole and shrapnel in the truck bed!
