Automatic transmission shifts gears erratically. (1) Much delayed shifting from 1st gear to 3rd gear. (Also occurs at the following gear ratio changes: 3rd to 5th and 5th to 7th.) This stalls the acceleration of the vehicle for sufficient time so that a rear end collision can occur if the driver of vehicle behind is not vigilant. (2) While driving on a freeway at 65mph, the vehicle has lost acceleration while the transmission gear indicator shows random gear hunting (10, 7, 3, 1, 9...) and finally abruptly reengaging in a gear to allow forward power. This behavior results in vehicle speed, while in the high speed freeway lane, slowing from 65 to 30 and then slowly accelerating to a more appropriate speed once a gear reengaged. This condition was conducive to a rear end collision. Ford has no availability dates for either a replacement transmission or internal transmission parts so the vehicle is being diagnosed by an independent transmission repair shop. The vehicle may be inspected there if required. (Dealer has confirmed the odd shifting behavior.) Vehicle warning light occurred subsequent to the above behavior.
Auto stop start shift to P then restart engine message came up . Vehicle stopped while in drive almost causing an accident. Very unsafe condition.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that his client's back-up camera was display a cloudy and blurred image while in use. The contact called the dealer and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention) and referred him to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 29,870.
The transmission will not reverse when cold. It goes into gear and moves less than a foot, then stops like it is in park. After switching between Drive and Reverse several times it functions normally. I was stuck blocking 2 lanes of traffic because of this. The transmission also finds a false neutral momentarily during acceleration. This has almost caused me several accidents while merging or pulling out onto traffic. Dealer could not reproduce when truck was warmed up. No warning lights illuminated. This is dangerous.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced rough idling with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03 - Supplement #3 (Cam Phaser Replacement) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
3.5 ecoboost , water leaking inside cab floors from the AC, sunroof, or back window causing a potentially toxic condition as it holds under the carpet and padding with no way to escape. My truck has Cam phaser issues in that it rattles at idle and while driving Engine sounds like a diesel.
On my F-150, I got a check engine light reading code P0430. I just hit 100,000 miles when the light came on so I started out by replacing both converters and all four sensors. After about two months, the light came back on and two of my sensors had been burnt up. Although the truck does not run poorly, it does have a slight lag when attempting to accelerate.
The contact owned a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was vibrating. The contact did not notice any leaks. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine and turbo charger needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that cylinder #5 valve was missing. The contact was informed that the vehicle had experienced a catastrophic engine failure, and that the intake valve was incinerated. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact to Trade-In the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a claim, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 71,105.
Vehicle screen keeps restarting like it’s a brand new car every time I turn on the vehicle. Navigation stops working the screen will start lagging and sometimes it will go black while driving. Won’t do updates to new version of sync.
My wife was driving my truck while I was hospitalised after emergency surgery. While driving, an emergency noise sounded and a “Brake Fluid Low” light came on. Immediately after that, the truck was difficult to stop - having to put the pedal all the way to the floor. She immediately went to a local full service gas station to have some brake fluid put in. She was told there that there was brake fluid all over the engine under the hood and that the brake hose was busted. They topped off the brake fluid and followed her home, one mile away, where she parked the truck (said she was scared driving and several times was unable to come to a complete stop - luckily no one hit her!). Upon getting out of the hospital, I called the dealership where I purchased the truck and an extended warranty that I pay $75-$100/ month for. I was told I was responsible for getting truck to them (in another town 15 miles away) and that most likely it would be covered under my warranty. I contacted my insurance company and filed an Emergency Roadside claim to have the truck towed to the dealership since undriveable. I’ve just received a call from dealership, Jones Ford in Humboldt, TN. They say my brake line is not covered because not a mechanical failure. They say the hose came loose and rubbed against the steering column and because of that, the warranty did not cover the brakes. They said I might have gone off-roading (which I didn’t). I am self-employed and use my truck daily.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred while starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the failure was related to Ford Technical Service Bulletin Number: 23-21-43. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
Gear slipping, harsh shifting, jerking, sudden acceleration or hesitation problems, and general loss of power.
When driving normal conditions from a stop to accelerate the truck completely loses power to drive and gears shift super hard in a jerking motion. When trying to accelerate onto highway from stop sign it will go to 15mph then the engine will rev and gear goes to 1 and then back to gear I was originally in but the whole time the truck does not accelerate in speed which pulling out onto highway can cause me to get rear ended as the highway I pull onto from my street is 2 lane 55mph highway. It does this at all speeds and now reverse only work when it is cold . I have videos there are to big to upload on this application form
The truck cut off while rolling up to a stop sign. And an error code came up the dash.
2019 F150 with 65,000 miles on it, started having issues shifting gears. Was accelerating on the Freeway and jumped from 3rd to 8th gear losing all power and making all passengers jerk forward whipping our necks. Also, started to not go into the right gear after starting up in the morning; put the truck into drive and immediately went into 7th gear without releasing the break and the Powertrain Malfunction came on. Restarted the vehicle and put in drive and the transmission went to 4th gear, started driving and the Powertrain Malfunction light cleared and shifted somewhat normally other than hard shifting. Ford Dealership diagnosed the truck and stated that it needs a new Transmission already at 65,000 miles and they will not warranty it since it is already past 60,000 miles. A transmission should not be going out at 65,000 miles.
I was accelerating onto the interstate and just as I was about to merge onto the right lane the truck just all of sudden without warning shifted out of gear like it had been manually shifted to neutral. The engine of course revved up considerably and I of course lost speed immediately which thank the lord I did not have traffic that I was merging into that could have been really bad. It only happened that one time and has not happened since. I have had some really hard shifting going on but nothing like that.
The 10 speed transition is overall very clunky and does not shift smoothly. Recently when driving up a slight incline around a turn, the truck abruptly downshifted due to the incline. I was only doing 25 mph but the road was slippery and the abrupt rough downshift caused the rear wheels to lose traction and truck rear end slide. This was very alarming as I did not expect such a forceful rough downshift. Had another vehicle been coming in the other lane, the rear end of my truck may have hit them. I have experienced this more than once, despite being very gentle on the accelerator so as not to force a hard downshift. Also, when shifting into reverse, the transmission takes very long to finally get into reverse. Need to be very careful not to pull in front of another vehicle before backing up because the transmission takes so long to get into reverse. If I step on the gas before reverse is found, then when the transmission gets into reverse with the accelerator pressed, the truck lurches backwards. I have a 2010 Toyota Sienna with a 6 speed transmission with almost 300,000 miles. It still shifts extremely smoothly and shifts into reverse within 1-2 seconds. It's night and day compared to the F150 10 speed transmission. In poor road conditions, I don't feel comfortable and always in control with this transmission. There are no error codes so I have not asked the Ford dealer to investigate. I also see many Ford owners having the same issues with no resolution coming from Ford.
The 10 speed transmission in the truck slips into neutral during acceleration. I usually loose 2nd or 3rd gear. The engine RPM spikes to 4-5000 and the vehicle coasts to near stop before transmission grabs again. It can create a danger on highway acceleration ramps or at stop signs. It happens intermittently and has been going on for 9 months or so.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger's side rear door inadvertently opened and failed to latch properly. Additionally, the passenger's side rear door previously failed to unlock. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 19N06 (Door Latch Freezing Concerns) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
The fiber under body shield doesn’t stay in place it tears every time they do an oil change. This should be reinforced and not to have a fiber materiel that can’t handle the normal Michigan wear.
The tie rod broke while driving causing the truck to collapse and significant damage to the rest of the suspension. There were no warning lights on. The truck has been inspected by a dealer and insurance representative and the damage and cause has been confirmed. This incident put the driver’s and passenger’s safety, including children, and potentially lives in danger.
The transmission has is constantly slipping in an out of gear along with hard shifts that could potentially cause whiplash with how hard the gears shift and grab. Also truck slips in and out of gear when going on an incline resulting in vehicle no longer able to move and started to row backwards even though the truck said it was in 3rd gear. These transmission issues seem very prevalent with the 10r80 ford 10 speed transmissions. I also experienced a situation where the truck went into a limp mode and had no power and almost lost all ability to steer and stop the truck due to the transmission issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R), the Back Over Prevention camera failed to operate. The contact stated that the screen display either a distorted or a blank image. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 82,300.
Rear window exploded. No impact. Remote started my truck, cold out so rear defrost was on from the remote start. Go in truck shut the door and before I could press the start button (it was running from the remote start but still have to press the start button) the rear window exploded shattering everywhere except for the power slider. After some internet research, this appears to be a common problem with F-150's which Ford refuses to acknowledge.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle made a rattling sound during start-up. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03 (Cam Phaser Replacement); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while reversing, the back-up camera image appeared distorted and was on other occasions blank. While reversing, the message "Camera not Available" was displayed and the camera image was inoperable, causing the vehicle to make contact with a trailer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 61,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the contact noticed smoking was coming from under the passenger side of the hood without any warning. The contact was able to pull over, and the contact checked under the vehicle where the smoking was coming from, while checking the vehicle, the vehicle burst into flames causing some of the contact's hair and eyebrows to burn but the contact did not seek medical attention. The contact stated that someone tried helping him turn off the fire but was not able to. The fire department extinguished the fire. 98% of the vehicle was burned. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 77,600.
I was driving approximately 35mph. I braked hard enough to slow down to avoid hitting a car that blew through an intersection. That's when my brakes became soft, and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. The truck had limited braking at that point. I was able to continue driving for a bit. The brakes would initially have some braking power when I first apply the brake, but within seconds the brake pedal would go all the way to the floor again. After braking several more times, the low brake fluid message came on. I opened the hood, and you can see fluid has leaked on the passenger side near the firewall.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH from a complete stop on a main road, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart, and the contact continued driving. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
I own a 2019 Ford Raptor with 62,000 miles. At 27,000 I had warranty cam phasers replaced under warranty. I just had same issue come up again at 62,000 miles and ford dealership mak haik in Jackson Ms is saying it’s not warranty because I didn’t bring truck in for an update that I knew nothing about. My extended warranty CNA National has turned my claim down also because they followed my dealerships decision. The cam phasers on f150 eco boost are a bad problem for this truck and it should be a recall and definitely fixed at no cost to customers. I’m without a ride as of now and I owe 4 more years on this truck. They are expecting me to pay 3,800 to fix it while others that noticed a letter are repaired. This is not right!!!
While driving at highway speeds the truck when hits uneven ground will trigger the abs and the brake will be applied to the right wheel causing the vehicle at 80 mph to be yanked to the right hard abs light flashes, no codes all components pass inspection
This vehicle's transmission has been discussed over the last few years referencing its "harsh shifting" and seems to not work correctly. Specifically in gears 2-5, the vehicle fails to shift properly which then doesnt allow the vehicle to move appropriately. We have incidents where the vehicle will shut off suddenly asking for us to turn off and turn on the vehicle. Our safety is in harms way each time the vehicle fails to shift properly and Ford fails to remedy the transmission (10R80)
10 Speed transmission makes loud clunking noises when shifting. Also some times when you start vehicle is make a Loud bang. Dealer knows there is a problem but acts like nothing is wrong because they do not have a fix. Tried to reprogram tranny but does the same. I have complained everytime I go in for a oil change. I don’t think they have any qualified techs to try and resolve the problem. If you read on line several people are experiencing the same problem.
Backup camera stopped functioning properly. This vehicle has not been recalled although a lot of other from the same model year have for this issue, I believe it is more widespread than ford is claiming.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently downshifted without warning. Over time, the failure worsened, and the transmission would shift to a lower gear while driving at a higher rate of speed. The vehicle was initially taken to McElveen Buick GMC (117 Farmington Rd, Summerville, SC 29486) and diagnosed with transmission failure after metal shavings were found inside the transmission. The dealer replaced the transmission with a used transmission. The vehicle was then sent to a Ford dealer after issues with the transmission persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
After purchasing my 2019 Ford F150 equipped with a V8 engine I noticed a loud knocking or tapping noise coming from the engine and a large consumption of oil happening. With no visible leaks I was putting about 1.5 to 2 quarts of oil a month in the engine to keep it filled. Loosing that much oil so fast could cause the engine to experience a catastrophic engine failure at any driving speed causing danger to me, my family, or other drivers on the road. Not to mention the environmental impacts caused by the engine burning so much oil so fast in possibly thousand of trucks across the country. I scheduled service with a Ford dealership. I have taken the truck in twice to have it looked at. Dealership has performed several service bulletins on it but it is still making a knocking and tapping noise and using excess amounts of oil. I have been told by ford dealership that they are aware of the problem and unable to determine if, or when, problem will be able to be fixed. This seems unacceptable knowing the truck is still under factory warranty. I have looked for answers online and found this engine in 2018-2021 Ford F-150 trucks is causing the same problem for a HUGE amount of other Ford truck owners as well.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the front driver’s side door failed to open as needed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the door was repaired out of pocket. The dealer linked the failure to an unknown recall and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not under recall. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
Every time I start my vehicle 2 error messages appear on the instrument cluster saying crash dectection camera has malfunction and that crash detection has been disabled. Ford dealership says they can’t fix it and that I am stuck with it like that. They have tried blaming it on safelite for replacing the windshield with a lower quality windshield.
Just purchased the truck less than a month ago, with 32k miles on it. On a trip to PA. The vehicles transmission started to shift hard and not downshift at all, and or shift into neutral. I made it to a cord dealership and had to leave it sit a week for repairs. Upon picking it up I was told that the model transmissions have a known issue and there isnt a fix, all they could do was drain the fluid and reprogram the computer. I drove approx 200 miles and lost the same functions in the transmission.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while in reverse or driving approximately 3 MPH, the rearview camera failed to show an image. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had become constant. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the back over prevention system needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
purchased in 2019 a new 2019 f150-lariat under 60k miles 1st incident 1month after purchase Transmission lunged forward after it was in park almost throwing me off the truck running board while getting out. Ford Dallas service Dept.stated this was normal sent me away. A few months later took it back in the gears were shifting hard while driving and making a loud sound .Service Dept stated they could not hear or see any problem with the transmission-sent me away- Oct 2022 dropped it off transmission went from 10gear to 2nd gear on the highway. nearly got killed. 3 months later I received a call truck was ready. After driving off AGAIN transmission fluid was leaking on the exhaust and causing bad smoke on the highway the gears Again started to shift from 10gear to 2nd and 1st gear had to pull over off the highway. Dropped it off again at the nearest Ford which this time it stayed for another month and they stated it exhaust was cleaned up and they could not find a issue wrong with the transmission. I drove off AGAIN the transmission started leaking causing smoke while driving, Dropping gears on the highway and hitting hard. I NEARLY GOT killed on the highway because of transmission shifting down the way it is and smoke. As of today My truck is sitting in the driveway unable to drive due to faulty transmission . I will not put my family in this unsafe vehicle that Ford could do nothing to fix.
Numerous Intermittent transmission problems - hard shift, slippage, stuck in lower gear.
MY F-15O WAS PARKED AT STATER BROTHERS PARKING LOT, AFTER PUTTING ONR GROCERY BAG IN TRUCK I CLOSED REAR DRIVERSIDE DOOR AND REAR WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WITH OUT WARNING. POWER SLINDING REAR WINDOW WITH DEFROST AND PRIVACY TINT
The transmission on my 2019 Ford F150 drops from seventh gear to first gear and out of gear on the freeway which causes a health and safety hazard. On the freeway I was almost rear ended when I lost all power to the truck. I have taken it to Ford. The first two times they said it was a computer glitch. The third time I was told to let the truck warm up. This all started on Sep 11, 2021 and has just gotten worse over time.
I purchased my 2019 Ford F150 used in October of 2022 directly from my local Ford dealership. At the time of purchase the tailgate handle did not work properly. The tailgate handle would stick in the open/unlatched position. If you closed the tailgate with the handle in the open/unlatched position the tailgate would fall down. If the falling tailgate struck a child in the head, it could cause injury or death. I purchased a new tailgate handle. The torsion spring and hinge pins on the new handle are coated in grease. The spring and pins on the old tailgate handle are rusted. I still have the old tailgate handle and it is available for inspection.
I purchased my 2019 Ford F-150 used in October of 2022 directly from a Ford dealer. The reverse view on the infotainment screen was foggy at the time of purchase due to moisture in the rear view camera. My local Ford dealer told me that the specific rear view camera in my truck was part of a massive recall, but they would not replace the camera because my VIN was not included on the recall list. I am confused as to how a part can be found defective and a recall issued to replace the part, but a vehicle made with the defective part is left off of the recall order. In any case, I purchased a new backup camera directly from Ford. The original camera has been superseded by a new part number. Hopefully, the new camera will not have the moisture issue. I have the old backup camera and it is available for review.
Oil consumption. 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles.
Truck was in Ford dealer 4 times over 9 months for fix to the transmission. Each time the chief complaint was a vehicle that would allow the transmission to stick between gears so acceleration would cease. It would also be put in reverse but the vehicle would not register that it was in reverse, hence not backing up. Vehicle not going forward or backward is a safety issue. Problem was reproduced by dealer each time. Ford Corporate was involved in trying to fix. No lights appeared on dash during any experience. Nothing done to the vehicle by Kernersville Ford or Ford Corporate worked to relieve the issues. Crossroads Ford, Kernersville NC. 336-996-3700 INVOICES [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The truck skips gears when speeding up causing the vehicle to stall and then slam into gear creating a whiplash affect. This is particularly dangerous when trying to pull on to a road with oncoming traffic as the vehicle stalls before getting into gear which could result in a wreck. While decreasing speed the vehicle skips gears again creating a loud clunking noise, as if the transmission is going to fall out of the bottom of the truck and jolts the passenger.
Vehicle stalls by traffic light or in the middle of intersection after driven for 20 min at highway speeds. Dealer couldn't figure out the issue. Feel unsafe for my wife to drive the truck with kids inside is vehicle shuts off in the middle of intersection.
