Truck has the 10 speed transmission. Has many intermittent issues including: Slipping transmission when going into gear from cold start, jerky/clunking shifting, loss of power.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with TBS: 20-2315, however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,500.
I approached a stop sign on a downhill descent and as I approached, the auto StartStop shut off my motor and I lost control of the vehicle. I could not steer and the brakes were squishy. I started rolling in to oncoming traffic. When I looked down at the dashboard it read, “Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine.” I have a picture of the alert.
Transmission clunks and lunges. Gets stuck in high gear and the truck loses power.
PowerTrain Malfunction Failed, notification on my vehicle appeared on 4/28/23, although I had been notifying dealer for 3 months prior the safety issue I was experiencing, and nearly got killed on a major interstate, on 4/26/23 my truck stalled as foot pedal would not work. Major safety of semi-trucks and other vehicles on main I30 Interstate were trying to avoid hitting me due to my vehicle abruptly downshifts from 10- to 1st gear. Foot pedal inoperable during that time. Yes, the dealer and Ford on 4/28/23 provided me a rental vehicle after my near collision experience until they figure out what to do, replace transmission or rebuild, unresolved. No the vehicle had no warnings, but did have symptons, which I took to dealer and they ran a diagnostic, and found nothing, they said there are TSBs out there with the downshifting issues, and stalling, jerking of transmission. But they said just wait it out initially, and I had to call Ford Corporate relations and raise the roof, after I nearly got killed by semi trucks from being stuck in a major interstate highway. December 2022 when it began, the dealer kept doing a reset, which seemed to make it worse, then when I told them how unsafe it was they ignored me, until April 26th when I left a voice mail after nearly being killed. I demanded service as I have a warranty and they ignored the symptoms for so long. Multiple people could have been killed on the interstate when my truck stalled, I had to try and coast to the side of interstate as the truck foot pedal did not work after downshifting from 8 to 1.
After owning the vehicle for about a year to a year and half transmission developed jerking in 3rd gear occasionally. Took the vehicle to the dealership while under warranty and was advised multiple times that this was normal. Now occasionally there is a sudden reduction in power to the wheels and it almost seems like the vehicle is not shifting at all. This has happened more than once and unfortunately to sporadic to provide an actual date
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the brake pedal was depressed, the rearview camera was distorted. The failure recurred several times; however, the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective rearview camera. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.
Rearview camera system malfunction. Randomly sync screen stays black. Randomly vehicle continues to show rear camera even though vehicle is driving forward. Problem started around April 2023 at 60,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon cold starting the vehicle, an abnormal cranking sound was coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the cam phasers needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
10 Speed transmission has rough shifting. Clunks, delays, gets stuck in gears and hesitates. Have had the transmission reprogrammed, valve body replaced, and other repairs from ford dealer. Most recently had a new transmission installed and all the same problems after 2000 miles if not worse than the old transmission.
My 2019 F-150 has the 10-speed transmission which shifts erratically. Driving down the interstate the transmission goes into a "neutral mode" which greatly reduces the speed, thus nearly causing me to be rear-ended. When this happens, I've noticed the gear selection lights on the dash go from 10th gear to 1st gear during the "neutral mode". This has happened on numerous occasions. The last couple of times this has happened a "gear" light will display on the cluster. Shifting between 1-3 , 4-6, and 7-9 seems to shift very hard and erratic, sometimes missing gears. The truck is presently at the dealership, but it has been acting up for a month. The dealership was booked and couldn't get it in until 5/1/2023
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and was driving sluggishly. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to Manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03 Engine Cam Phasers (Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Total engine failure while driving ~70 MPH, on a 4-5 lane highway, during rush hour traffic. No CEL activated, other vehicles had to swerve around my truck while I maneuvered the lanes with no engine power. Myself and my 5 year old son are lucky to be alive. 66k miles on truck when engine failed, issues started at 41K miles. Have taken vehicle to multiple Ford dealerships, 13 times in the last 2 years under warranty complaining of engine rattle, knock, noise, and oil consumption. Informed each time no engine issues present. Referred me to "Excessive Oil TSB" and "Engine Knock and Noise TSBs". Was instructed that this was normal operation and treated as if I was somehow crazy. Was taken to dealership for oil consumption check early Feb 2023 and engine failed March 2023. Requested Ford fill out a NHTSA report many times to include an ethics complaint from March to July 2023 and I feel I have been misled and they have not reported this issue. I have requested a root cause be performed as to how an engine fails after 13 visits (in 2 years) at 66k miles and feel that the issue is trying to be covered up, get a new engine in, and get rid of the old one with zero due diligence as to what occurred. 65+ maintenance record pages provided to Ford, an overview of event with maps attached, video of scenario sent, to no avail.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that at startup, she heard a rattling sound at the hood of the vehicle. The contact then stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact was unsure of any warning lights. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the PCM needed reprogramming with the 21B10 update. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to shudder, and the vehicle stalled, without warning. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer where it was diagnosed that the Cam phaser, bolts, seal, engine valves, engine gasket, and crank shaft oil needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the warranty had expired and advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 107,328.
Truck transmission bangs when shifting between gears. Also slips out of gear at random intervals while driving.
On July 14, 2022, I took my F150 to Ford and it was determined that the 10 speed transmission was going to need to be replaced. I had 60,400 miles on it when it starts having major malfunction going on in the Powertrain. At the time the transmission replacement was being done, it was Ford’s knowledge that the Cam phasers were not functioning correctly.. causing sudden jerk and knocking.. Cam Phasers we’re not replace last year nor looked at, even though I told them that there was sudden jerks happening. It was under warranty at that time (last year). Ford also knew that reprogramming the trucks software, does not correct any of the problems that they are having. Now at 70,000 miles I’m going back in to, Southwest Ford in Hudson Oaks, Texas, to get these parts replaced as soon as they are available. They are requesting $700 (just like when the transmission was replaced). Which it is my opinion that the total amount should be covered-$1800.
T275/65R18 Tire Tread Outer walls have serious cracks, separation, compromised, and unsafe
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from tenth gear to third gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, the vehicle was shifted into park and back to drive and the vehicle drove; however, the vehicle was not driving smoothly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a weak and low battery. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. On another occasion, the vehicle started stalling and downshifted unexpectedly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
I’m experiencing loss of power hard jerking near miss collisions at cross traffic areas gears slipping
Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a significant manufacturing defect in the transmission of my 2019 Ford F-150. The vehicle, which I purchased new from an authorized Ford dealership, has exhibited persistent and severe transmission issues that have compromised its performance and safety. Specifically, the transmission has been shifting harshly and erratically, causing the vehicle to jerk, lunge, and hesitate between gears. This defect has not only affected the drivability of the truck but has also posed a serious safety risk to myself and other road users. Despite multiple visits to the dealership for repairs, the problem persists, indicating a fundamental flaw in the transmission system. I have learned that this issue is not isolated to my vehicle alone. There have been numerous reports and a class action lawsuit concerning the 10-speed automatic transmission in Ford F-150 models from 2017 to 20201. Additionally, Ford has issued recalls and technical service bulletins related to transmission defects in these vehicles23. Given the widespread nature of this defect and its potential danger, I urge the NHTSA to conduct a thorough investigation into the transmission issues affecting the 2019 Ford F-150. It is imperative that Ford Motor Company be held accountable for this defect and that appropriate measures be taken to ensure the safety and reliability of these vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and action. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Rear Left Upper Shock Absorber Mount Splintered into three and sheared off. This problem is happening to other late model F-150 owners https://www.f150forum.com/f118/broken-shock-frame-mount-496255/ Someone just posted that the left rear upper shock mount sheared off on his 2022 F-150 FX4 I have no left rear shock and I took it to the Ford dealer and they didn't even attempt to warranty repair the truck. I do not understand anything over the phone due to my hearing, please email me at [XXX] On the evening of March 11, I had just ate dinner at a Italian restaurant and saw my left rear shock absorber laying on the ground. This shouldn't be happening on a truck that is not even five years old and doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it. Ford should be fixing my truck period. This is a safety issue. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
When driving this vehicle at slow speeds when cold there is a groning sound or growling sound coming from front differential. At high speed it gets lowder but is less noticeable because of tires. When coming to stoplights or stop sign slowing down considerably alot of moaning, groning noise comes from left side. The vehicle will then have a slight pull to the right. Its been at dealership twice second time still there as they can't seem to duplicate the issue but will not drain the front end to see how much metal in oil. I have videos of the noise and there our several complaints on the ford forum with YouTube videos of exact noise. I see that 2020-2022 has issued a recall because of defective pinion. I think the recall should take into the effect 2018 on as they are the same differential. As a mechanic for 35 years from ford retired I believe the issue is either 1 the bearing race is not seated and when cold you hear the moaning groning because the bearing race is spinning in the aluminum housing or the pinon bearing set are pitted for some reason. You can feel a slight vibration under the floor board when it's doing it which leads me to believe if the bearing locks up the front driveshaft will go through transfer case and vehicle will end up out of control. Thank you
My vehicle went in for oil change, tire rotation and tailgate recall. Now I was told by the dealer that lug nuts had swelled because manufacturer put caps on the nuts which causes overheating. According to my dealership I have 12 lug nuts to replace. Is this reasonable to replace these items on a 4 year old vehicle? My dealership told me they don't make vehicles like they used to.
Transmission shifting erratically with symptoms of lunging, missing gears, not engaging reverse, downshifting hard, and downshifting while accelerating. Symptoms worse between 3rd and 6th gear and almost not drivable right after starting on a cold morning (20deg F or less). Ford has reprogrammed ECU but it seems worse and has developed clunking noise somewhere in driveshaft or rear differential.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while shifting from third to fourth gear and while downshifting from fourth to third gear, the rear wheels would lock up without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred mostly while driving between 20-35 MPH, and normally in stop-and-go traffic. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Air conditioner loses cold air flow; suspects that the evaporator continuously freezes. Unable to defog windows causing loss of visibility while driving. Also, causes heat stress/ exhaustion from lack of cold air produced by vehicle.
In March of 2022, Ford launched a TSB campaign for its F150 model trucks spanning a few years. The TSB was for a Cam Phaser issue and the company offered an extended mileage warranty with a tiered coverage chart based on your current miles while experiencing the problem. The campaign ended January of 2023. I own a 2019 F-150 and my truck began having the issues under the TSB in April of 2023. When I brought the issue to the Ford dealership, I was then informed of the open TSB (TSB's are not made public, but rather opened up for mechanics use to easily diagnose an issue). I was told that due to my mileage as well as missing the 'expiration of the campaign' by just a few months, I would have to cover the cost of the repair. After battling with Ford, I was able to gain some assistance from the dealership towards the cost of the repair. My truck was dropped off to a Ford dealership on May 8th, 2023 and is still there awaiting parts for this KNOWN issue. There are roughly 40,000 parts for this issue that are on backorder. I was updated yesterday that the parts are still 2-3 weeks out from being available. Not having my vehicle for close to 3 months now and still being expected to pay $750 for a repair with an active TSB is absurd. At what point does this issue constitute a recall? I am writing and requesting that this issue be a known recall to the affected trucks. For a consumer to have to pay for a cost that is out of their control, and a known/acknowledged issue by the dealer/company, especially with a 40,000 part backorder-- there should be no reason myself, or anyone else should have to pay any cost to fix the problem. Please let me know what can or needs to be done further to try and have this TSB converted to a recall on these affected F-150s.
My engine failed after just 32,000 miles
Back glass shattered for no reason , alone on a state highway with no houses and other traffic . Thousands of not hundreds of thousands of other people have had the same thing happen to them in f150s for years apparently. A quick google search didn’t take long to read hundreds of other f150 owners sharing the same experience . Ford refuses to accept responsibility for what is an obvious design flaw. Broken shards of glass flying around in the cab . Luckily I didn’t have my grandson in the backseat today.
The truck was purchased used in October 2022 with 82k miles on it, but it appeared to be operating fine from the dealership. Shortly after the purchase, the transmission started hard shifting and also hesitating between shifts. I took the vehicle into a Ford dealership and they test drove it saying it was normal, but also refused to check the PCM to see if the calibration was the most current from Ford. On February 27, 2023, as I was passing a slow moving vehicle on a highway the gears starting acting erratically, jumping from 8th up to 10th, then dropping all power (while showing that it was in 1st gear on the dash), then suddenly hard downshifting in the pass, almost causing me to lose control of the vehicle in the pass. After completing the pass, a "wrench" light came on, so I stopped at the nearest place I could to see what it was saying. My FordPass app said it was a powertrain issue, but then as I restarted the truck, the wrench cleared. I was able to make the rest of the drive home, but with extra clunky and hard shifting. I've now taken the truck in for an inspection, but have been seeing online that this is a common problem, which is wildly unsafe of Ford to have not fixed this.
Backup camera faulty shows blurry screen when putting truck in reverse also sometimes shows no picture and just different colors on screen. 2019 F150, 20k miles.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while starting the vehicle, there was a loud rattling sound coming from the vehicle with the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the vehicle lost power. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure returned 25 months later. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
10 speed transmission problem where the torque converter is not engaging the transmission and it does not downshift.feels like driving over rumble strips and feels underpowered. This vehicle has been to the dealership 4 times for this problem and they keep telling me there is nothing wrong
Hello! Twice now I have been driving down the road in my 2019 Ford 150 and the back windshield had blown out like a bomb. The 2nd incident happened yesterday and shook us to the core as my two little ones were in the back seat and had glass all over them! I am waiting a call back from our ford dealer, Kuhio Ford (Lihue, Kauai).
After purchasing my truck, it was discovered that the back up camera doesn't work. It will work on occasion when the truck is put in reverse. The safety for myself or others is that I cannot see behind me when backing up. I have not taken the vehicle in for an inspection since I have been told that this is an issue for other Ford F150's in the same year. When backing up my screen says camera not available.
Rear tailgate opens when door opens without activating the remote/automatic feature that opens the tailgate. It also opens when I’m traveling in traffic. It’s a danger to me and traffic if something is in my truck bed or even if nothing is in there and it opens and someone is too close it will hit there vehicle

When I place my vehicle in park on my driveway, it rolled backwards and collided with the vehicle behind it. when this event occurred, the truck was in park for over an hour before rolling backwards. This is not the first time that it has done this and when I saw it happen the first time, it was only for a distance of two feet and all the wheels were turning when it rolled backwards. The truck was only in 2 wheel drive mode and 4 wheel drive automatic mode. We are now trying to leave it in 4 High wheel drive when parked. Our driveway is on an incline and we do live in Mn. Our driveway was clear of snow and ice when this occurred and the temperature was 40 degrees. We are not allowed to park our vehicles on the street overnight but have asked for a special permit given the damage to the vehicle parked behind the truck that was hit when the truck rolled backwards. This was over 4 feet when the truck rolled and the vehicle that was hit stopped the truck from rolling further. We confirmed the truck was in park when this incident occurred.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the reverse camera displayed a hazy and obscured view while the vehicle is in reverse. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the camera needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the VIN was not included. The contact was informed that recalls were VIN specific. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to have the vehicle inspected at a dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
My F-150 is currently inoperable and unable to be repaired due to TSB 22-2139, which is a fundamental issue with the 10 speed transmission. To summarize the issue, the transmission at certain times will not shift gears while driving, which is a significant safety hazard. My truck has been at a Ford dealership for close to 30 days now, and Ford is unable to provide an ETA on replacing the transmission. There is a current national backorder for the 10 speed transmission and no ETA in resolving it.
Upon cold start up their is a significant rattling for 5-10 seconds, Started around 60K miles. when driving there is a lag in performance for first few miles. Consistent with Cam Phaser failure with F150 3.5 eco boost engine. This problem has been reported to Ford and CSP 21N03 explains the exact problem. Ford claim my VIN isn't covered under this Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact was informed that the oil level was down a half quart every 1,000 miles. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle needed an oil change every 5,000 miles and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 41,066.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine was making an abnormally loud knocking sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to drive the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 21N03. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
I was driving on the freeway at about 75 MPH. I wanted to pass another car, so I pressed the accelerator petal to 100% (floored it) and took my foot off the petal immediately because I changed my mind. Roughly 1 to 2 seconds after the inputs, the engine rev'd up to about 3000 rpm, and then changed gears, jerking my truck so violently I could have lost control. I was able to get the behavior to repeat for me, and next time I'm on the freeway I'll try to record it. It's possible I was in cruise control and in eco mode. I have been having many issues with the transmission, including some 'bucking', shuddering, harsh shifts, grinding noises, rattling noises, high-pitch whine, surging revolutions, stuck in gears to name a few.
cam phaser recall performed by dealer prior to 36k miles. at 36k miles, returned to dealer with same rattle noise from engine, dealer said was noise from backpressure at exhaust near turbo. at 40k miles, engine failed in middle of intersection. Advised by dealer the engine is total loss and will need to be replaced, declined to agree that the cam phaser timing chain was the result, stated that the issue was in the lower end of the engine, which is where the oil pump is....that runs off the timing chain. prior to the failure, I experienced slight power loss, complete momentary power loss shifting between gears 2 and 3, slight knocking noise from the engine that mimicked a diesel engine sound, as well as the stated rattle noise.
The APIM/Radio keep losing saved/stored info after vehicle is turned off. The rear back up camera will go blank while in reverse or will activate while driving or will stay stuck on the rear view mode after putting vehicle in drive or park. Screen will also go black while in operation making it impossible to use hands free mode for anything including calling 911
There is a serious design flaw with this truck that allows water to enter the passenger side cab via a ford designed hole where the condensate drain exits the fire wall, The water causes severe mold to form and fester bc the water keeps coming, my vehicle is at the dealership now and fully admits even through report that this is a design flaw. Last I checked mold was not a good thing to be encapsulated in a cab with. Further more not only is the mold there but the intake for the HVAC system sits right there as well sucking the tainted air in and redistributing it through the vehicle
11-Jan-2023 18:01 CST approximate temperature 47F. Commuting home the vehicle was driven approximately 30 minutes on the highway. Stopped for fast food and it was turned off for less than 10 minutes. Restarted without issue drove out to a stop light to make a left turn. Auto start-stop turned off the engine but failed to restart. Put vehicle in park vehicle would not restart normally, and multiple restart attempts failed. Restarted vehicle with an jump start battery pack. Drove straight to Autozone and battery tested fully charged on printed receipt. Vehicle restarted normally twice in parking lot. Drove home battery tested 12.7 volts with multimeter. I don't suspect that the battery is the issue. The vehicle battery management system should detect a low battery and disable auto start-stop. My preference is not to have to work under the hood in the middle of traffic in the dark.
On Monday, January 9, 2023 the vehicle shut off while driving in traffic, and was difficult to restart. It seemed like the battery was dead, but it wasn’t. This incident happened again within about a 15 minute time Period. Safety was obviously put at risk as this happened in a major metropolitan area, Miami, on the road during rush hour. The dealer has had the vehicle for the last two weeks, but was not able to reproduce the problem and cannot find anything wrong. When the vehicle shut off, a warning came up on the dash which said “auto stop, put the truck in park and restart the engine.” But again, it did not want to turn over to restart, and only did so with difficulty.
