There is a leak somewhere in the truck. This leak is causing the carpet to retain and moisture and get caught between the floor mats causing a mildew and moisture smell.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. When the vehicle was purchased, the contact requested the Retrofit/Activate Heated Steering Wheel option. When the vehicle was delivered, the contact realized that the option was missing from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the dealer suggested that the contact read the manual to learn how to turn on the Retrofit/Activate Heated Steering Wheel. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact explained that the option was missing from the vehicle. The dealer refused to assist. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but provided no assistance. Upon further investigation, the contact became aware of Customer Satisfaction Program: 22G06, which was associated with Ford and Lincoln vehicles with the Retrofit/Activate Heated Steering Wheel option deleted during production due to supply shortages. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and mentioned specifically that the vehicle needed the Customer Satisfaction Program: 22G06 "Heated Steering Wheel Performance Upgrade". The dealer refused and informed the contact that the vehicle could no longer be taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40.
Tire monitoring system malfunctions after 30ish minutes of driving. Seems the issue is interference from the on board power generator referred to by ford as “pro power onboard”. After the tire monitoring system turns on, immediately turning off the pro power generator the tire monitoring system returns to normal. After researching this issue it’s very common and has been on going through multiple years with no fix.
In cold temperatures the vacuum system that keeps 4x4 disengaged seems to be failing. There is a loud grinding noise with vibrations when driving any speed. It will go away after you engage 4 wheel drive. I feel this is unsafe and worry with winter coming soon the hubs may lock up causing a head on collision or cause vehicle to go in the ditch. I’ve had this issue since I first bought the pickup brand new in late October of 2023. In above freezing temperatures the grinding and vibration does not happen. No light warning indications when this will happen either. I have called the dealer and made a case number, they say engineering is looking into it. They tried replacing the IWEs and it didn’t make a difference. I’ve done a lot of research online and many people all over in colder climates are experiencing the same thing.
Truck will randomly start making rumble strip or like you have knobby tires noise from front end. You can put it in 4 high and back 2wd an it goes away.this has happened at different speed and differs temp.
My vehicle has under two thousand miles on it and it has randomly made a sound while driving 35 mph or below of rumbling sound underneath the truck. It sounds like I'm driving over rumble strips. I am attaching a link from a FORD forum where others are reporting this problem with the 2023 ford f150 xlt. I called FORD and they said to register the issue on this website. There is also a youtube video concerning the sound. [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The issue occurs any time when the temperature is approx 32 degrees F or below. After starting up the vehicle and driving for 2 miles a loud grinding/rumble sound occurs and last from 10-120 seconds. The sound eventually goes away on its own but it sounds as if there are parts rubbing or grinding together. The noise is below the drivers seat. I've taken it to the dealer after the first episode however the temperature was not under 32F when they inspected the vehicle. There are no warnings when this sound occurs and to date this has not been a safety issue but it has only occurred 6-7 times since I've owned the vehicle(have not had many days that I've drove it when temperature below 32F) and I worried if this continues there will be a failure.
EIWE (Electronic Integrated Wheel End) failure or malfunction. Ford has multiple Field Service Engineers aware of the issue with no fix found. Multiple vehicles not only at one dealership but across the country have confirmed issues. Ford Customer Relations is aware and has an open case with me and many other owners. As requested for Ford case manager, the vehicle is currently going back for a third time to the dealership for something "they can't currently fix".
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, an abnormal squealing sound was coming from the front driver’s side tire. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure normally occurred while the temperature was below freezing. The vehicle would resume normal operation after switching back and forth from 2WD to 4WD. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it remained for a month. The dealer later informed the contact that the defect was related to the IWE (Integrated Wheel End) that had failed to operate as needed. The contact was informed that there was no repair for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 4,500.
Both front IWE’s are in question. When it’s cold out like below 32 degrees, I driving and hear a grinding noise. Sounds like a bearing type noise when they are stuck engage and one free spinning. The dealer told me if I hear noise again to engage/press 4high. The noise went away but not fixed.
My 2023 Ford F-150 keeps having an issue where the electronic parking brake will engage while I'm driving. The issue has happened to me at least five times. Luckily for me I was going between 5-10 miles per hour and did not have any vehicles around me. However, the issue can be dangerous if I vehicles behind me and the parking brake engages with no warning. Once the parking brake engages the only way to turn off the parking brake is to do it manually. There was a recall regarding the same issue for F-150s 21-23, but my vin number was not part of the recalled because my vehicle was probably manufactured after the Feb 25, 2023, listed on recall 23S35. I called Fort customer service, and they were no help besides telling me to take the vehicle to the dealership.
The air conditioning stopped cooling on several ocasiones, they changed the air sistema and it failed egain
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at speeds between 65 - 80 MPH with the cruise control activated, the cruise control malfunctioned, and the vehicle decelerated to 10 - 20 MPH slower than the cruise control was set for. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 29,700.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V509000 (Parking Brake) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
This is my second F150 that has had severe vibration through the floorboard, steering wheel and gas pedal. The last one the torque converter and steering failed. Both trucks were brand new. This is a serious safety issue. My foot goes numb after about 15 minutes of driving from the constant vibration. Ford acts as this is normal, but this issue has been well documented in the Ford community. There have thousands of similar reports made to Ford Motor Co.
The dash cluster randomly shuts-off/restarts while driving the vehicle and when it did last time ford app sent 3 notifications of faults with antilock brakes, TPM, restraint indicator warnings. If there is an issue with these items and I have road emergency and my brakes and restraints do not work properly it could be a safety issue for all involved in accident (I would not know how fast i was going since dash cluster is off). I took the truck to dealership and they are passing it off on SSM 51757 (which my truck also has an issue with) and a loose pin connection. But this happens with no checking of trailer tire information. The speakers made a loud crackling noise and my phone disconnected from infotainment center just prior to the incident.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced a loss of automotive power and independently shifted into park(P). Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart for several minutes and was unable to shift of out park(P). The vehicle was previously taken to a local dealer and the engine control module was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle remained with the dealer for additional diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
There was a grinding noise coming from the front end. I took it to the shop and they told me it was the IWE, so they replaced it. 3 days later the same noise returned. They again told me the same part needed to be replaced and that it must have been a faulty part. Waited for 6 weeks to get the new part in then another 2 to get an appointment. They replaced it and then called me and said that it was still making the noise so that wasn't the issue. 4 wheel drive has never worked on the vehicle. Searching forums shows that many people have had the same issue.
When I use the cruise control and set it at a speed, it will maintain that set speed for a period of time and then the set speed will randomly jump up 10 to 20 miles an hour and reset the speed faster. So if I set it at 70 miles an hour. It jumps up to 80 or 85 and once even jumped up to 90 mph. The first time I told this to a Service person they told me that’s normal. The car went in and supposedly they fixed it, but it is still doing it.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150 equipped with Hankook Tires, Tire Line Dynapro, Tire Size: 275/60/R20, DOT Number: [XXX] . The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the tires were cupping. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and the technician stated that the failure was a known issue. The tires were rotated however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The morning of September 28th, weather conditions ranging from mist to torrential downpour. Between Glasgow, KY and Glendale, KY. Wipers were set between intermittent and fast, depending on conditions. On (5) occasions (it may have been six), when the wipers were changed from an intermittent position to fast, the wipers would malfunction. The wipers were in high speed. The wipers were about 1/4 way up from the rest position during the cycle and they STOPPED. The pause lasted between 0.5 and 2 seconds (my estimate). Then the wipers would go to full advance position and return to the home position in normal speed. Once the wipers passed the home position and started the next wipe cycle, they resumed high speed motion.
When selecting the TOWING option on the dash cluster, the dash shuts off to a black screen and restarts while driving. This prevents seeing the speed and other dash information. The truck also sends warning to phone after dash shut off that power steering, ABS, seatbelt control, and airbag control is malfunctioning. Took to dealer and they were able to reproduce the issue. The replaced dash but did not fix. They escalated the issue to Ford who said they are working on it back in October. Still no fix.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was shuddering while idle. The contact stated that the failure consistently recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as designed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
I was slowing down for a corner and was going approximately 5 mph when the emergency brake activated without any action on my part. The truck came to a stop with 3 or 4 jerking motions. I released the brake and continued with my drive. The truck had about 1500 miles on the odometer at the time and I have had no problems since. This week I heard of the recall which doesn't cover my truck.
Ac lines freezing.
Significant clunking in the transmission, purchased this 2023 brand new. Ford dealer tells me this is normal but it feels like this truck is going to break down at any moment. Disruptive shifting all over this place, very sloppy. I am also getting excessive exhaust smoke from the tailpipe, almost looks like the truck is on fire every morning when I start it up. Smells awful too. Dealer again states all of this is “normal”. Not sure what Ford is compensating dealers with but they are going to have a real issue here soon with upset customers if they keep producing trucks like this.
AC turn off when operating truck when temperature is at 60 degrees or higher. Ford is aware of this issue but has no fixed. This dangerous when outside temp is over 85 degrees. Went to shop 1/3/2023 and 11/06/23 in Okc. Prior pulled in Tulsa dealership to address issue .
Front differential is bad. First broke it clanked and was banging. Now its a growl/grind under acceleration and deceleration.
Repeated failures with my parking brake applying itself when it wants too. It’s not on a hill, it’s not just when towing my trailer, it’s not related to solar flares - this truck is dangerous. The brakes apply at speed, did it on [XXX] in LA. The whole system just applied the brakes at 55mph. I have Repeated failures with “collision warning system” and the FORD app has this notated. And at times this system applies the brakes when there is nothing in front of me! The screen (not dash) pixelates, crashes, doesn’t work properly. It will not stay connected. I rely on this navigation, the screen quits working. The passenger window goes down & up at will, like a TX employer. I cannot stop it, can’t even figure out what’s going on. My truck is not subject to recall but should be! Others have similar issues why is mine not recalled? This truck is very dangerous to drive and I don’t trust it. Problems began after we left TX around August 2023 and I was working and could not get it fixed - DEALER COULD NOT MEET FORD WARRANTY TO PROVIDE ME A CAR/TRUCK TO USE! And now I’m in North TX where Ford Dealers have horrible reputations. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The back up camera screen is constantly freezing up or the screen goes black. When this happens the driver has no control over any audio, navigation or other settings that are linked to the screen. The only way to get the screen to come back on or unlock the frozen back up screen is to turn the vehicle off and let it time out. This happens at least 3 or 4 times a week. When dealership was asked about it, was told they don’t have a fix for it and it’s a common problem.
The contact rented a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to slow down as needed. The contact stated that multiple unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300.
At 300 miles, air conditioner lines froze up. Took to dealer; wouldn't fix it. At 700 miles, air conditioner lines froze up again. In 100+ temps outside, this is a safety issue the dealer refuses to fix.
While driving at approximately 45 mph my parking brake warning light and message on the instrument panel cluster came on, on several occasions. I also recently experienced an unintended activation of the electric parking brake while driving.
The center console lid (work surface style console lid), continues to fall closed due to the springs not being strong enough to support the weight of the lid in the open/up position. If you are not paying attention or holding the lid open/up, it will slam close/down without warning. Since the lid is open, you can assume the inside of the console is being accessed, thus the lid slams closed on hands/fingers. It is bad enough for adults, but is extremely dangerous to the small hands of children. I have reported the issue to my local Ford Dealership and to Ford Corporate. Currently there are no recalls or solutions to the issue. A quick search of the internet, shows how big an issue this is on the Ford F-150's
1. Issue number one parking brake engages on and applies the brakes while the vehicle is moving. I had this issue happened to me at least three times; luckily I was not going very fast when it happened. Additionally, Parking brake light will come on at random times. (is not Auto Hold) 2. Multi-functions switch that controls turning signal gets stuck in the up or down position after engaging the switch to change lanes. When attempting to flip the turning signal to off the switch will get stuck and will only go back to off or neutral position after forcing the switch up or down. Additionally, when forcing the turning switch to the off position, it causes the high beams to turn on. 3. Pre-collision assist warning will come on at random times while driving. I have had this happen to me almost daily when I'm driving into work in the morning.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 30-36 MPH, he noticed that a vehicle had stopped in the middle of the roadway. The contact depressed the brake pedal to avoid crashing into the other vehicle, but the brake pedal went down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact swerved off the road and ended up in a ditch. The contact turned off the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart when pressing the PUSH to START button and depressing the brake pedal, due to the brake failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist without a diagnostic test report from the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 10,020.
Issue #1: Rain Sensing Wiper function is completely inoperable. Wipers must be operated manually. Issue #2: Blinker stalk becomes stuck in off and on positions. This malfunction has put myself and others at risk because the vehicle, at times, is unable to inform others on the road of the appropriate vehicle lane change. This risk has become heightened in periods of warm weather, where the stalk becomes "more stuck" than usual. The dealership has replicated the issue and attempted to resolve several times; after several months of waiting for a solution from Ford and recent near-misses on highway trips, I have decided to escalate with Ford as well as with NHTSA. The vehicle has no warning lights nor signals warning any user that an error with the blinker stalk may occur while driving. Issue #3: Left side blind side monitor false readings when there is no vehicle on driver side blind side. Dealer unable to verify. False positives desensitize driver to true positives, therefore, this is an added risk.
Excessively loud speaker sound on B&O unleashed
Reporting this after the second time this incident has occurred. Shortly after starting the vehicle, there was an extremely loud electrical/static pop coming from the speakers, followed by extremely load static noise which went on for several seconds. The noise was so loud, that it caused ringing in ears. The noise was not related to the volume control of the speakers, as turning the dial all the way down to zero, or turning the volume off, had no effect on the noise. To stop the noise, I turned the vehicle off. This occurred while I was in a parking lot, and fortunately not driving, but would have been a dangerous and disruptive situation if it had occurred while driving. Reading into this online, it sounds like this is not an isolated occurrence, and others are experiencing an even worse version of the problem that will not stop until the battery is disconnected. Also reports this is happening in the middle of driving. I'm nervous to drive the vehicle now.
My truck features the B&O speakers and initially I heard a very loud pop on the passenger side of the vehicle. Radio and CarPlay was playing but no sound was coming from the speakers. Then an extremely loud static noise vibrated the entire truck through the speakers at full volume. I had family in the car and it scared everyone. Pulled over and shut the car off and the static persisted until the electronics fully shut off. Went back in the truck and turned it on and the static continued. On the 3rd try 5 minutes later the static finally stopped and everything worked “normal”.
While sitting at a traffic light, the gear shift switched to park from drive with my family inside the vehicle. The vehicle would not move and the gear shift continued to switch back to park when I attempted to get out of the roadway, leaving me and my family in a dangerous spot. I have video of the gear shift moving to park.
Battery is bad. Drove truck 4600 miles without issue, went to start truck and battery was dead. Needed to jump start truck, drove for 30 minutes, parked it and measured 12.2V. Charged truck overnight, measured 12.6V. Drove to work 30 minutes, parked 10 hours, drove home 30 minutes, measure battery at 11.08V. I could not start the vehicle and get out of the area I was in.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing, the back-over prevention camera malfunctioned, and a blank screen was displayed, causing a visibility hazard for the driver. Additionally, the "Brake Fault" message was displayed while at a stop light. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 2,000.
On several occasions, while in drive, the parking brake will automatically engage uncommanded, resulting in an abrupt stop. This has happened a total of 7 times since 4/26/2023; 6 times with the owner operating the vehicle, and one time with a sales rep operating the vehicle. Unlike the collision emergency braking system, the heads up display displayed “parking brake” at the time of the incident. Following the incident with the sales rep, the dealership was “unable to replicate the issue”. The vehicle was released to the owner where the fault occurred in the middle of an intersection. Had this not been a three-way stop, serious bodily injury or death may have resulted to/from oncoming traffic.
Panoramic sunroof panel exploded while driving the vehicle. The sunroof was closed with shade extended. Less than 2 months new. No debris/ collision or object came in contact with the vehicle. No other vehicles were within either side of the road. The glass panel shattered completely with a very loud explosion noise , raining glass into the truck and onto myself(driver). There were no warning or reason or symptoms prior to the event. I drove the truck to the Ford dealership for a warranty repair after the explosion they ‘inspected’ and reported Ford would not cover this because the glass shattered. Dealer and manufacture are avoiding responsibility for my safety. Truck is at dealer.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the transmission shifted hard while accelerating. The vehicle was taken to two dealers; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 800.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that due to the Battery Management System (BMS), the vehicle failed to properly charge due to the short distances driven. Due to the cold climate and low usage, the vehicle entered Deep Sleep Mode, leading to the vehicle failing to start. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a battery test was performed, and it was determined that the battery was in good condition. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was referred to the dealer. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that a global supply shortage of semiconductor chips caused unavailability of the specific chip within the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) required for heated steering wheel functionality. Causing his vehicle not to have heated steering wheel. The contact was relating the failure to a Heated Steering Wheel Performance Upgrade 22G06 he received. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that Heated Steering Wheel Performance Upgrade 22G06 was no longer activate.
Took delivery of a new 2023 Ford F-150 on 2/18/2023. Upon inspection once at home I discovered excessive Rust/Oxidation in the underbody area. Specifically, there was excessive rust and oxidation in the following areas: Rear Differential, Rear Axle Casings, Rear Axle Hubs, and portions of the front Frame Rails. This amount of rust/oxidation should not exist in a new vehicle and has the potential to lead to a driving performance/braking incident/accident that could damage the truck and or injure vehicle passengers. Research indicates Ford Motor Company has known about these issues for a couple of years. Furthermore, after contacting Ford, I received a boilerplate email stating that they would look into this problem without indicating whether or not they would issue a Recall or CSP (Customer Service Program) to remediate this problem. This is without question a safety issue and should be investigated by NHTSA. Pictures of the affected areas and a copy of the email from Ford area attached to this filing.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the dealer informed them that there were chip shortages regarding the steering of the vehicle and that when a remedy was released they would be included. The contact had learned of the Ford Technical Serviced Bulletin with the NHTSA ID Number: 10243408 (Equipment, steering). The contact called the dealer who informed them the VIN was not included. The vehicle did not receive the upgrade. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer had referred the contact to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was 15,100.
