SEAT BACK BOLTS BROKE WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. LOST CONTROL ALMOST GOING OFF ROAD. IN MOTION, TWO LANE HIGHWAY DRIVING WINDING ROAD. BROKE ROUNDING A CURVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 1995 FORD F-250. WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HAND INJURIES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FIRE STARTED AT THE WIRING HARNESS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
I REPLACED THE REAR BRAKES ON MY 1995 FORD F250. I PUT ON NEW DURALAST BRAKE SHOES (PART #358) FROM AUTOZONE. AFTERWARDS, THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE FAILED. I TOOK EVERYTHING APART AND TOOK A WHILE BEFORE I FOUND THE PROBLEM. AT THE TOP OF THE BRAKE SHOES THERE IS A HALF CIRCLE WHERE THE FRONT AND BACK SHOE MEETS AND THAT IS WHERE THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE CAM PUSHES THE SHOES APART. THE OEM SHOES HAVE A TALL SHOULDER AT THE VERY TIP TOP WHERE THE CAM PUSHES AGAINST THE REAR SHOE, THE DURALAST SHOE HAS A SHORTER SHOULDER AND ALLOWED THE CAM TO SLIP OVER THE TOP OF THE REAR SHOE CAUSING THE UNEXPECTED EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE FAILURE. *DT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A VISIBLE FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELTS WILL NOT RETRACT AUTOMATICALLY CAUSING CONCERN BELT WOULD FAIL TO WORK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THROUGH STATE INSPECTION AND DID NOT PASS BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 02V068000 (PARKING BRAKE) AND WAS TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR VEHICLES WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 202,000. *TR
1995 FORD F250. CONSUMER STATES ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING. *TGW WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PUT THE SHIFTER INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART. HE ALSO, STATED THE FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR WAS REPLACED. ALSO, OTHER REPAIRS INCLUDED, NEW HOSES, FAN CLUTCH, IDLER WHEEL, BRAKE PADS, RELAY ON GLOW PLUG, V-BELT, SEVERAL BATTERIES, THE LIFT PUMP AND THE SOLENOID ON THE STARTER. JB ALSO, THE O-RINGS WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 12/31/12 THE DEALER FOUND PROBLEMS WITH THE ICP INJECTOR PRESS, EBA EXH BACK PRESS, MAP, MANIFOLD AND ABS. UPDATED 03/14/13. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO PLOW SNOW, THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE BENT WHEN CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE SNOW. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED NEAR THE FRONT END. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TOW THE VEHICLE, BUT IT FLATTENED WHEN IT WAS RAISED ONTO THE TOW TRUCK. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAD A DUAL FUEL TANK, ONE IN THE FRONT AND ONE IN THE REAR. WHILE DRIVING, THE FRONT FUEL TANK BEGAN TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND STATED THE CHECK VALVE INSIDE THE FUEL TANK CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT IN ORDER TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY A FEE AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY A WARRANTY AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 168,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND THE HOOD, FENDER WALLS AND WIRES WERE DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO WAIT UNTIL THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT CONTACTED HIM BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F250. THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS AWAKENED BY THE HORN OF HIS VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SOUNDING. THE CONTACT THEN OBSERVED FLAMES SHOOTING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE ENGINE WAS DESTROYED AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE, INCLUDING THE METAL, HAD MELTED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 133,000.

1998 FORD F150 TRUCK (BRAKES LOCKING WHENEVER FAST BRAKING APPLIED, FORD F250 SAME THING TRUCK WAS WRECKED LAST NIGHT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM THANKS GOD NO ONE WAS KILLED ! 1997 FORD MUSTANG SAME PROBLEM ,BRAKES LOCK WHEN FAST PRESSURE IS APPLIED . TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F250. THE VEHICLE HAS FTS WESTLAKE CR861 TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS DOT NUMBER IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL REGARDING TREAD SEPARATION. HE CALLED FTS AND THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. THEY STATED THAT THE BOSS WAS ON VACATION AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HELP UNTIL HE RETURNED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE TIRES SHOULD BE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY THE 1995 FORD F 250 WITH 98000 FAILURE MILEAGE)CAUGHT ON FIRE, WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE ENTIRE FRONT END, BACK TO THE BED CAUGHT ON FIRE. THERE WAS RECALL 05V38800) ON THE 1995 FORD F250. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE.
1995 FORD F250 7.3L TURBO DIESEL : CAM POSITION SENSOR FAILED AFTER NUMEROUS, WORSENING EXPERIENCES WITH ERRATIC ENGINE PERFORMANCE. SENSOR REPLACED BY DEALER ON 12/07/2006 WITH TRUCK BARELY ABLE TO CONTINUE RUNNING. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AT THE TIME, BUT I AM NOW OCCASIONALLY EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AGAIN. I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THIS NAVISTAR ENGINE. MANY FORD VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED AS A RESULT, BUT MINE HAS NOT, DESPITE NUMEROUS VEHICLES OF MY MODEL YEAR (1995) EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-250. THE AUTO MECHANIC CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE CONTACT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A DEFECTIVE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY. HE STATED THAT A FUEL PUMP CHECK VALVE OVERFLOWED FROM ONE TANK TO THE OTHER AND SPILLED FROM THE FILTER CAP. HE AND THE CONTACT NOTIFIED FORD AND THEY STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE RECALL NUMBER 93V125000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY) DOES NOT INCLUDE THE VEHICLE'S MAKE AND YEAR. FORD REFERENCED SERVICE RECALL BULLETIN NUMBER 93S68. THE CONTACT PAID $607 TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY REPAIRED REPLACING THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WHICH INCLUDES THE CHECK VALVE. THE DEALER INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,921 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 190,000. UPDATED 09/06/07 *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED IN THE PAST TWO YEARS WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE TURN SIGNALS DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS OCCURRED DURING HALF OF THE INCIDENCES OF CRUISE CONTROL USE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN VERY OFTEN THEREFORE IT WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. DURING A LONG TRIP, THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER WHO INDICATED THE TAIL LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING WHICH INCLUDED THE RUNNING AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS. WHILE TESTING THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS, THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING. TWO RECALLS WERE OBSERVED BY THE CONTACT, #05V388000 AND #06V286000 PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. WHEN THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, THEY DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED WHO RECOMMENDED THE CONTACT CALL THE NHTSA. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPRESSED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL AND THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WERE BOTH LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN WITHIN THE WIRING HARNESS.

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE BOLTS RETAINING A BRACKET FOR THE FRONT END FAILED, AND THE FRONT AXLE WAS ALLOWED TO MOVE AROUND. THE CONTACT WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ORDERED THE PARTS TO FIX THE VEHICLE BY HIMSELF. HE HAD NOT SPOKEN TO ANYONE A T FORD ABOUT THE DEFECT. HE STILL HAS THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE BOLT HELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DIFFERENTIAL FRAME. *AK
DT:CONSUMER HAS FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES 16 INCHES ON A FORD PICKUP. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING HOME AND THERE WAS A BLOW OUT ON THE REAR DRIVVER'S SIDE TIRE. WHEN THE TIRE BLEW OUT IT ALSO TOOK OUT THE FILLER TUBE ON ONE REAR GAS TANK. CONSUMER SAID THAT HE KNEW OF RECALL ON FIRESTONE AT TIRES, WHEN HE CONTACTED FIRESTONE, THEY TOLD CONSUMER THAT RECALL WAS ONLY ON 15 INCH TIRES. BLOW OUT HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE 44 IN MOUSORI, WHILE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 65 MPH. *AK
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAD A BROKEN BOLT WHICH CAUSED FUMES TO ENTER INTO THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT TO CAUSE THE BOLT TO BREAK.*AK EXHAUST MANIFOLD WARPED CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK WHICH RESULTED IN ALL EXHAUST TO ENTER THE VEHICLE'S CAB. *BF *NM
AXLE PROBLEMS WITH TRAVEL TRAILER. AMOUNT OF CARRYING AXLES UNDER THESE VEHICLES , NOT SUFFICIENT IN SIZE OR STRENGTH TO TAKE THE LOAD OR ROAD PUNISHMENT WITHOUT FAILING. *BF THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT PULL PROPERLY. THERE WAS A SIDE TO SIDE PULL AS IT WENT DOWN A DOWN GRADE AND WOULD WANDER AS IT PULLED DOWN THE ROAD. THIS PROBLEM EVENTUALLY INCREASED TO A VIOLENT WHIP. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF UNEVEN TIRE WEAR DUE TO AXLE MISALIGNMENT. THE AXLES WERE FOUND TO SUPPORT 8285 POUNDS. RECENTLY WHEN I GOT IN MY 1995 F250 W/MANUAL TRANSMISSION I DEPRESSED THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO START IT UP & THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD & STAYED THERE. WHAT I FOUND AFTER INSPECTING THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS THAT THE END OF THE ROD THAT GOES INTO THE MASTER CLUTCH CYLINDER BROKE (THIS IS CONNECTED TO THE PEDDLE). THIS ROD APPEARS TO BE PLASTIC ON THE END & METAL GOING INTO THE MASTER CYLINDER. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. IF I WAS DRIVING THIS TRUCK AND THIS ROD BROKE WHILE I WAS TRYING TO STOP QUICKLY (OR STOP AT ANY TIME) THEN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP SINCE THE CLUTCH WOULDN'T HAVE ENGAGED. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, WITHOUT WARNING THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. WHILE AT THE STOP LIGHT THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN DUE TO A BLOWN TRANSMISSION. BE ADVISED THIS IS THE THIRD TRANSMISSION REPLACED INSIDE OF THE TRUCK. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *PH
WHILE DRIVING 62 MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD TREAD SEPARATION. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER. MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED. SIZE#LT23585R16. *AK
DROVE TRUCK INTO THE GARAGE, BRAKES WORKED FINE. NEXT DAY STARTED ENGINE AND NOTICED THAT BRAKE WARNNG LIGHT DID NOT GO OFF. WHEN BACKING OUT OF GARAGE, NOTICED THAT I HAD ONLY ABOUT 10% OF NORMAL BRAKING POWER. BROUGHT TRUCK TO A SLOW STOP AND CALLED LOCAL DEALER. TRUCK WAS TOWED IN. DEALER REPLACED A VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY, FORD PART F4TZ-2A451-A . PART COST $308.55, LABOR $101.99. HAD THIS TRUCK BEEN IN ITS NORMAL SERVICE, TOWING A 9,000 POUND TRAVEL TRAILER THE RESULTS MIGHT HAVE BEEN TRAGIC. I CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR DESIGN DEFECT. A BRAKE PART SHOULD NOT GO FROM 100% EFFECTIVE TO 10% WITH NO WARNING. DT
FRAME TO DIFFERENTIAL BOLT THAT HOLDS FRAME HAS SHEARED OFF. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE A 1995 FORD F-250 4X4 TRUCK. THE STEERING SHAFT COMING OUT OF THE STEERING BOX HAS BROKEN IN HALF TWICE. ONCE ON 12/24/01 AND ONCE AGAIN ON 2/02. IN BOTH CASES, I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF STEERING. FORD TELLS ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AND I AM THE ONLY CASE THAT THEY KNOW OF IN WHICH THIS HAS HAPPENED (LET ALONE TWICE). YET I HAVE AN AQUANTENCE FOR WHOM THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED.
CONSUMER NOTICED FUEL ON DRIVEWAY, DEALER DETERMINED FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. ROCKS HAD WEDGED BETWEEN STRAPS THAT SECURE FUEL TANK, AND WORE A HOLE IN FUEL TANK. FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED.*AK *JB

A PORTION OF UNUSED FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO BE RETURNED TO SECOND TANK. WHEN THIS OCCURS, SECOND TANK EXCEEDS IT LIMIT, CAUSING FUEL SPILLAGES. SPILLAGE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE WHEN EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION;.DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT COVER UNDER A MANFACTURER'S RECALL. WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN DRIVE THE RPMS RACED UP REALLY HIGH. IT FELT LIKE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK, AND VEHICLE WENT FLYING RIGHT INTO A BUILDING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
OIL PAN HAS RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT CAUSING AN OIL LEAK. REPLACEMENT OF PAN NECESSARY. APPEALED TO FORD MOTOR, NO RESOLVE. MANY PARTIES SUFFER THIS SAME PART FAULT. WHILE STARTING VEHICLE , AND SOON AFTER SHIFTING INTO SECOND WHILE CLUTCH WAS STILL DEPRESSED, DRIVER'S BACK SEAT RELEASED, CAUSING CONSUMER TO LAY DOWN. VEHICLE HAS DUEL FUEL TANKS. WHILE DRIVING FUEL COULD PASS FROM REAR TANK TO FRONT TANK AND OVERFLAW. FUEL MIXED WITH HEAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE.*AK
TRANSMISSION COOLER PLUGGED UP. LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP TOLD ME THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON FORD TRUCKS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD WE KNOWN OF THE PROBLEM. WE COULD HAVE PUT AN AFTER MARKET COOLER ON THE TRUCK. NOW, I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WILL COST ME OVER $2000.00 TO FIX FORDS MISTAKE. THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED BECAUSE OF TIME, NOT MILAGE SO I GUESS I AM STUCK. PLEASE HELP. *AK
WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 30MPH ON A SIDE ROAD ON SOME BLACK ICE. THEN, SHE SLID OFF AN ENBANKMENT ABOUT 200 FEET AND HIT A TREE. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK
OIL PAN WAS NEVER PREPPED FOR PAINTING AND CAUSED RUST AND CORROSION, CONSUMER HAD NOTICED OIL SEEPING FROM THE OIL PAN WHEN CHANGING THE OIL, FORD STATED THEY WOULD SPLIT THE COST WITH THE CONSUMER, HOWEVER CONSUMER DECLINED STATING FORD SOLD VEHICLE TO HIM WITH SUB STANDARD EQUIPMENT, NOW CONSUMER TRIED TO GET THIS FIXED AND THE DISTRICT REP HAS WITHDRAWN THE OFFER AND EXPECTS CONSUMER TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE BILL EVEN THOUGH THE DEFECT WAS BECAUSE OF IMPROPER INSTALLATION AT TIME OF ASSEMBLY. *SLC

VACUUM PUMP FAILED 1ST TIME APRX 1000 MILES, FORD REPLACED, FAILED 2ND TIME APRX 50K MILES, OUT OF WARRANTY, FAILED 3RD TIME, APRX 67K MILES, FORD REPLACED, FAILED 4TH TIME 87K MILES, OUT OF WARRANTY. EACH TIME BRAKES BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO APPLY AND VEHICLE BECAME HAZARDOUS TO OPERATE, ALSO WHEN PUMP FAILED 3RD TIME, SERPENTINE BELT WAS DESTROYED AND POWER STEERING WAS ALSO LOST, COMPOUNDING THE SAFETY ISSUE.*AK
AIRBAG SYSTEM HAD ALREADY BEEN DEPLOYED AND WAS NOT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND CAME FROM FACTORY WITH AIR BAG. NOT INFORMED OF ACCIDENT PRIOR TO PURCHASE AND ALSO HAD NO SPARE TIRE.*AK
ON FAILURE OF COMPONENT AT ANY SPEED COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER,STEERING,BRAKING AFTER ONE APPLICATION. DIESEL ENGINE USES BELT DRIVEN VACUUM PUMP TO SUPPLY BRAKING BOOST ALSO POWER STEERING PUMP POWER IS LOST.
OVER THE COURSE OF 400 MILES THE TRUCK LOST 4 QUARTS OF OIL. *AK
