CONSUMER STATES THAT THE RIGHT REAR LEAF SPRING, NUMBER 3, BROKE FOR NO REASON. *SLC
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BADLY AT ANY SPEED, DEALER DETERMINED A STABILIZER ARM NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. *AK *YD
AFTER BEING PARKED FOR AN HOUR VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
I WAS ON AN INTERNET SITE CALLED FORD-DIESEL.COM AND A FEW GUYS THERE REPORTED A PROBLEM WITH THEIR STEERING LOCKING UP WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES HARD. ONE GUY EVEN REPORTED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO STEER HIS TRUCK WHEN HE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AND HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO GET CONTROL OF HIS TRUCK. I DECIDED TO DO A LITTLE TEST ON MY TRUCK TO SEE IF MY TRUCK HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I APPLIED MY BRAKES HARD AT ABOUT 55 MPH AND TRIED TO STEER AND SURE ENOUGH THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED UP. I AM NOT SURE IF FORD IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUY GUYS WITH BRAN NEW TRUCKS ARE REPORTING THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEIR DEALER IS SAYING THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR IT. I WOULD HATE TO SEE SOMEONE PULLING A LARGE LOAD WITH ONE OF THESE TRUCKS AND NOT BE ABLE TO STEER WHEN THEY NEEDED TO.*AK
WRONG LOAD RATED TIRE, THIS MODEL CALLS FOR LOAD RATE E NOT D, QUESTION THE SALE AT LEAST THREE TIMES BEFOR PURCHASE. SALEMAN INFORMED ME THAT THESE TIRES WERE NOT INVOLVED IN A RECALL. LATER MY WIFE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT ON THE DRIVERS SID REAR TIRE AT 75MPH.
NUT HOLDING STEERING KNUCKLE TO STEERING GEAR BOX WORKED LOOSE ALLOWING KNUCKLE TO WORK LOOSE FROM GEAR BOX CAUSING SLACK IN STEERING.*AK

CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE PARKED IN A DOWN HILL POSITION IN DRIVEWAY AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE SNAP AND VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN HILL. DEALER CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40-45 MPH HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. IMPACT WAS MOSTLY ON PASSENGER'S SIDE. DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, PASSENGER'S AIRBAG WAS TURNED OFF. *AK *YH

THE PICKUPS LEFT FRONT 16 INCH FIRESTONE STEELTEX TIRE HAD A MALFUNCTION OF SOME TYPE WHICH IN TURN CAUSED THE PICKUP TO SHARPLY VEER LEFT GOING ONTO THE MEDIAN AND THEN CROSSING THE WESTBOUND LANES, THE DRIVER OF THE U-HAUL (DECEASED) WAS KILLED AS A RESULT OF THE PICKUP CROSSING THE MEDIAN AND INTO THE PATH OF THE WESTBOUND LANES (ATTORNEY FOR DECEASED). FRONT END OF VEHICLE STARTS WOBBLING WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
WHENEVER DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS CLUTCH WOULD GO OUT. WOULD HAVE NO PRIOR WARNING. HAD TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 4 TIMES, AND CLUTCH HAS BEEN CHANGED 4 TIMES. THERE ISN'T ANY INDICATION OF CAUSE OF PROBLEM. IT STILL EXISTS.*AK
CLUTCH HYDRAULIC RELEASE SYSTEM FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY, CAUSING VEHICLE TO JUMP FORWARD IMMEDIATELY AND VIOLENTLY. FORTUNATELY THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS FAR ENOUGH AWAY SO THAT I DIDN'T HIT IT, BEFORE GETTING VEHICLE STOPPED. ON INVESTIGATION, I FOUND THAT THE ROLL PIN WHICH HOLDS THE CLUTCH LINE INTO THE SLAVE CYLINDER HAD BACKED OUT, AND ALLOWED THE HIGH PRESSURE LINE TO DISCONNECT. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE CLUTCH ENGAGED VIOLENTLY, AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD ON ENGINE POWER. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT, IF ANY OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES HAD BEEN DIFFERENT.*AK
VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IF VEHICLE DOES START IT WILL KEEP STALLING. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY REPLACED THE IAC MOTOR. PROBLEM CAME BACK. CURRENTLY, THEY REPLACING COMPUTER CHIP. *AK JLG
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT THAT DID DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AREA. THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL HIT A CEMENT CULVERT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE HUB AND AXLE HOUSING. DURING OR BEFORE (UNKNOWN) THE ACCIDENT THE STEERING BOX OUTPUT (PITMAN) SHAFT BROKE. WE HAVE SEVERAL OF THESE TYPES OF TRUCKS AND ONE OTHER F350 THAT WHILE DRIVING IN A STORM THE WHEEL HIT A RUT IN THE ROAD AND THE PITMAN SHAFT BROKE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GO UP AN EMBANKMENT AND ROLL OVER.
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT REGULAR SPEED AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WINDOW GLASS EXPLODED AND SHATTERED INSIDE OF VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND AT THE TIME. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 TO 75 MPH RIGHT REAR FIRESTONE, STEELTEX R4S TIRE, SIZE: LT265/75R16, DOT: DA217PF09L EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION. SEPARATION CAUSED DAMAGE TO 1999, FORD, F350. IT WAS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WITH APPROXIMATELY 49,000 MILES ON THE TIRES. *AK DAMAGE WAS TO THE RIGHT REAR PICK-UP BED, REAR RUNNING BOARD, AND TAILPIPE, CONSUMER PURCHASED 5 NEW TIRES. *SLC
CLUTCH PEDAL WILL NOT RETURN WHEN APPLIED. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED OF A YOKE FAILURE. REPAIRS WERE MADE AT CONSUMER'S COST. DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM. REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE FROM FORD, CONSUMER IS CONCERNED WHY FAILED YOKE IS NOT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *AK *TT
THE PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD WELL ON AN INCLINE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICED IN REVERSE, AS ON A BOAT RAMP WITH A BOAT THAT I AM TRYING TO LAUNCH. I CAN SET THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I CAN AND THE TRUCK WILL STILL ROLL BACK AGAINST THE PARKING PALL IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO THEN SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO GEAR. THE DEALER HAS LOOKED AT IT TWICE AND STATED THAT THEY DON'T SEE A PROBLEM BUT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE CONDITIONS.*AK
AT 35000 MILES LEFT HUB ASSEMBLY WENT OUT. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER WHEN AXLE HUB ASSEMBLY WENT OUT IT CAUSED BEARINGS TO GET REALLY HOT, AND COULD POSSIBLY START A FIRE. CONSUMER STATED AT 35,750 MILE VEHCILE'S RIGHT/ LEFT HUB ASSEMBLY AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. CONSUMER STATED THAT AT 66,000 VEHICLE NEEDED ANOTHER LEFT HUB ASSEMBLY. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 TO 60 MPH IN HIS 1999 FORD F350, LEFT FRONT FIRESTONE TIRE SIZE: LT265/75R16, EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION WHICH DAMAGED WHEEL WELL/ FENDER, AND RUNNING BOARD. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO TIRE CENTER AND THEY REPLACED FRONT LEFT TIRE BECAUSE OF TREAD SEPARATION. ALSO, FRONT RIGHT FIRESTONE TIRE WAS REPLACED BECAUSE OF A LUMP/BUBBLE THAT FORMED ON SIDEWALL/TREAD BOUNDARY. THESE TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON THE VEHICLE AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 46,000 MILES ON THEM. *AK DOT NUMBER VNW81XL328. *SLC
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH HEARD A LOUD NOISE. AFTERWARDS, VEHICLE TRAVELED OUT OF CONTROL. CONSUMER PULLED VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED REAR TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT. *AK *JB
I HAVE HAD THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THE REAR BRAKES REPLACED 2 TIMES. THESE REPAIRS WERE ALL DONE WITHIN THE 3 YEAR, 36,000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. SOON AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDED, THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THE TRUCK WAS FINE. THIS IS IN NO WAY A TRUE STATEMENT. EACH TIME I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR THESE BRAKE PROBLEMS, THEY HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES AND HAVE AGREED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME THEY HAVE WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THERE ALSO WAS A RECALL FOR THE REAR BRAKES.*AK
TIRES WERE CONSTANTLY GOING FLAT. SEVERAL TIMES I PULLED PIECES OF GRAVEL/ROCK OUT TO FIND THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE LEAKING. I FEEL THESE TIRES WERE UNREASONABLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO PUNCTURES . TO HEAR OF GRAVEL PIERCING THROUGH THE TIRE, I REPLACED THEM FEARING THAT IF I HIT A LARGER PIECE OF DEBRIS THAT A SEVERE TIRE FAILURE MAY OCCUR.*AK (TIRESIZE: 265/75/16)
MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH ROD CYLINDER BROKE WHILE SHIFTING TO MAKE A TURN. WAS GOING ONLY 25MPH ON A BACK ROAD. WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE AND DROVE IT HOME. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND CAUSE OF BREAKAGE, BUT WAS ABLE TO REPLACE ROD AND SLAVE CYLINDER.*AK
AIR-BAG DEPLOYED WHEN VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE ON REAR OF TRUCK WHILE PULLING A 24-FOOT STOCK-TRAILER ,FORD DEALER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WONT LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM OR FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRUCK IS USED AS A FARM VEHICLE AND IS JARRED AROUND ALL THE TIME IN PASTURES AND IF IT IS POSSIBLE THEY NEED TO TRY AND LOOK INTO FARM TRUCKS TO COME WITH A SHUTOFF FOR AIRBAGS IF POSSIBLE OR BETTER SYSTEM. *AK ALSO THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE.*JB
CONSUMER HEARD A GROWLING NOISE WHILE DRIVING, DEALER DETERMINED THAT FRONT BALL JOINTS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 26700 MILES. ON 16 JULY 2002, CONSUMER HEARD NOISE IN FRONT END AGAIN, BALL JOINTS WERE BEING REPLACED. *AK THE TIE ROD ALSO FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. *YH
I HAD JUST CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURES (70PSI) PRIOR TO LEAVING HOME. 45 MINUTES INTO THE TRIP, I FELT 2 OR 3 SECONDS OF ROUGH SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEN A LOUD NOISE ACCOMPANIED BY A "DROP" OF THE LEFT REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I HAD TAKEN MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACELORATOR AT THE SHAKING AND MAINTAINED CONTROL WHILE GENTLY BRAKING AND WHEN SLOWED ENOUGH, PULLED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS TOWING A GOOSENECK TRAILOR AND ALL WHIGHTS WERE WITHIN LOAD CAPACITY OF THE F350. THE SEPEAATED TIRE TREAD COMPLETELY TORE UP THE REAR PANEL OF THE TRUCK, TWO ESTIMATED WITHIN $50 OF EACH OTHER; LOWEST WAS $2654. I FILED A CLAIM WITH FIRESTONE TO PAY OR THE REPAIR AND WAS REQUIRED TO SEND THEM THE TIRE REMANTS AS PART OF THAT CLAIM. I THINK THOSE TIRES ARE TOO LIGHT FOR A SUPERDUTY TRUCK RATED AT 3600# LOAD CAPACITY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES WITH THE BLOW-OUT, BUT I CUT MY FINGER REALLY BADLY UNDOING THE BENT FENDER STRUT DAMAGED BY THE TIRE IN ORDER TO GET THE SPARE TIRE ON.*AK (DOT NUMBER: VNW81XL487 TIRESIZE: 265/75R16)
I BOUGHT MY TRUCK IN FEB. OF '99 AND CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER EVERY 3000 MI.. I USE MOTORCRAFT PARTS AND I ONLY USE THE TRUCK FOR HAULING SODA DRINKS FOR MY BUSINESS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE TRUCK IS STILL LIKE BRAND NEW!! FROM THE VERY BEGINNING,THE ENGINE WOULD DEVELOP A SLIGHT KNOCKING ABOUT 10 TO 20 SECONDS AFTER INITIAL START-UP IN MORNING. AS THE MILES INCREASED, SO DID THE LENGTH OF TIME THE KNOCK TOOK TO GO AWAY. THE KNOCK HAS GOTTEN LOUDER AND LONGER AND THE DEALER WHERE I TOOK IT ON SAT. 3/17/2001, TOLD ME I NEED NEW MOTOR!!*AK

STUDS THAT KEPT EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON ENGINE BLOCK BROKE ON RIGHT SIDE, CAUSING EXHAUST LEAK. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE ON LEFT SIDE. ALSO, AT 36000 MILES FORD REPLACED MOTOR DUE TO ENGINE KNOCKING. *AK

CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 30MPH ON HIGHWAY WHILE SNOWING AND INNER WHEEL WELL COLLECTED SNOW. PLASTIC CLAMP PIN THAT HOLDS PLASTIC INNER WHEEL BROKE FROM WEIGHT OF SNOW. HE HAD TO REPLACE INNER WHEEL WELL AND CLAMP PIN THREE TIMES. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, AND IT HIT VEHICLE ON DRIVER'S SIDE. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK
FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WILL ENGAGE AT ANY SPEED WHILE MAKING A TURN OR STOPPING. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE THREE TIMES, AND CANNOT EFFECTIVELY REMEDY THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS. *AK
AS CONSUMER WAS STRAIGHTENING UP HIS 2000 SNOWBIRD TRAILER, THE 20K 5TH WHEEL HITCH RELEASED THE TRAILER WITH THE TRAILER FALLING ON THE BACK OF THE PICKUP, A REESE REP STATED THAT THE HITCH WAS IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION AND IS DENYING ANY OF THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS FAILURE, THIS NEWLY DESIGNED HITCH OPERATES SO A PERSON JUST HAS TO MOVE THE LATCH OUT OF THE WAY FOR HOOKUP, THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. *SLC

WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TRANSFER CASE BROKE AND VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO RUN. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARING. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.*AK
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 1999, FORD, F350. TREAD ON LEFT REAR FIRESTONE STEELTEX TIRE (P265 75 R16) SEPARATED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, CAUSING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. FIRESTONE WILL BE NOTIFIED.*AK DOT VNW81XL098. *SLC
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, LT265/75R16 SIZE, DOT#: VNW81XL119. RIGHT FRONT FIRESTONE STEELTEX TIRE EXPLODED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TREAD SEPARATED ALL THE WAY AROUND SIDEWALL. FIRESTONE AND FORD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK *SLC
THE U-BOLTS FAILED, AND THE AXEL DROPPED DOWN. WE HEARD A "THUD" , AND FELT A DROPPING SENSATION. THE STEERING IMMEDIATLEY BECAME INOPERABLE, AND THE TRUCK CRASHED INTO SEVERAL BALES OF HAY. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS DAMAGED. WHEN I CONTACTED PARKER TOYOTA, THEY CLAIMED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE AXEL. I THEN PAID FOR THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. LATER THE SAME DAY, I PULLED A VIN HISTORY ON THE VEHICLE, AND FOUND THAT THE ODOMETER HAD BEEN ROLLED BACK. WHEN WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS A TRADE IN FROM A GUY THAT BOUGHT IT AT PARKER FORD, AND TRADED IT IN TO PARKER TOYOTA. THE TRUE STORY (VERIFED BY FORD MOTORS), WAS THAT THE TRUCK CAME OUT OF TERRACE, BC. IT WENT TO AUCTION IN MAY 2000, WHERE THE ODOMETER WAS CONVERTED FROM KM TO US MILES. THEY HAVE RECORDS THAT IT WENT IN TO THE ODOMETER SHOP WITH 68,000 KM, AND CAME OUT WITH 33,100 US MILES. THIS IS A MISTAKE OF NEARLY 10,000 MILES. PARKER TOYOTA ADMITS THAT THEY ARE AT FAULT FOR THE ODOMETER FRAUD, BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE ARE FILING SUIT AGAINST PARKER TOYOTA FOR FRAUD.*AK

WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH VEHICLE WAS SHAKING. CONSUMER PULLED VEHICLE OVER, AND NOTICED A BULGE ON SIDE OF TIRES. AFTER A DEALER INSPECTED ALL TIRES, HAIRLINE CRACKS WERE FOUND IN THE SIDEWALLS OF ALL THE TIRES (FIRESTONE TWX R4S P265 75 R16). DOT #VNW8IXM. *SLC
WHILE TRAVELING ON A STRAIGHT AND LEVEL ROAD THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD A COMPLETE FAILURE. THE AIR PREASURE IN THE TIRE WAS ABOUT 60 PSI. SPEED WAS ABOUT 55 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS WITHOUT WARNING AND WAS TOTAL. THE ENTIRE SIDEWALL BLEW OFF. TIRE WAS INSPECTED BY SEARS (THE INSTALLER) WHO FOUND NO ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE OR PUNCTURE.
