GENERAL TIRES - AMERITRAC MTS LT 235/85R16 - ON 9/23/2010 WE WERE DRIVING ON I-75 IN 2004 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY DUALLY - THE LEFT FRONT TREAT SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE, THE TIRE DIDN'T LOOSE TIRE PRESSURE, BUT IT CAME APART. IT DAMAGED THE LEFT FRONT FENDER, FRONT BUMPER, AND DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THESE TIRES HAD OVER HALF OF THE TREAD REMAINING. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY FOR ROUTINE BRAKE MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE REAR BACKING PLATES ON BOTH REAR WHEELS WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND WERE AFFECTING THE BRAKE PADS. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO MAKE REPAIRS TO THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE CORROSION FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSION LINES WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED, AT HIS EXPENSE, DUE TO CORROSION. IN ADDITION, THE OIL PAN WAS ALSO CORRODED. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 150,000.
SUDDEN POWER LOSSES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS RESULTING IN ENGINE SHUTTING OFF AND NOT BEING ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. *TR
SPEED CONTROL DOES NOT DISENGAGE WHEN HITTING THE BRAKES. YOU MUST SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN BY SEVERAL MILES PER HOUR BEFORE THE SYSTEM WILL DISENGAGE. (PUSH HARD AND LONG). THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY FOR A PERIOD OF TIME IF YOU PREFORM AN EMERGENCY STOP THAT CAUSES THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM TO ACTIVATE. THIS WILL CURE THE ISSUE FOR AWHILE. BUT WITH NORMAL BRAKING THE PROBLEM WILL RETURN WITH IN SEVERAL DAYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHAKE AND JERK FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE EGR COOLER AND THREE FUEL INJECTORS WERE THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THAT TIME. LATER, THE HIGH OIL PRESSURE PUMP AND OIL COOLER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING FURTHER REPAIRS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS TOLD THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME ALL REPAIR COSTS AT HER EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY WAS 121,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BUCKING AND JERKING INTERMITTENTLY SINCE WAY BEFORE ABOVE.DATE IT STOPPED RUNNING AT A STOP SIGN THEN BUCKED AND JERKED SO IN 2013 IT GOT SO BAD THAT I FINALLY HAD IT CHECKED OUT. I THOUGHT IT WAS TRANSMISSION, HAD IT CHECKED AND WAS REFERRED TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO WAS ACQUAINTED WITH THE PROBLEM AND HAS WORKED ON SEVERAL TRUCKS WITH THE 6.0 DIESEL ENGINE. HE SAID FOR $1200 YOU MIGHT REPAIR IT, NO GUARANTEES. HE SAID IT HAD TO DO WITH THE ELECTRONIC ACCELERATOR. I DIDN'T HAVE IT REPAIRED. IN AUGUST 2014 IT STOPPED AND JERKED AT STOPS SIGN MORE THAN ONCE. I TOOK IT TO THE SAME MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED A SENSOR LOCATED UNDER THE TURBO, FOR $600, AND THAT SOLVED THAT PROBLEM. IN OCTOBER 2014 I WAS TOWING A TRAILER AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 4TH GEAR. I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION, BUT IT STILL BUCKS AND JERKS TODAY I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HE SAID THAT HE HAS NO RECALLS FOR MY VIN NUMBER. I ONLY DRIVE IT OCCASIONALLY. IT HAS 59,000 MILES ON IT NOW. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL FOR 2-3 MINUTES, FOLLOWED BY A CLOUD OF SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING INCREASES THE RISK FOR VEHICLE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, IN WHICH A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THERE WAS WATER CORROSION IN THE FUEL LINE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE.THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 94000.
ON 6-13-09 I HAD A TIRE EXPLODE ON MY 2004 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY PICKUP TRUCK WHILE DRIVING ON THE NORTHEAST EXTENSION OF THE PA TURNPIKE. WE WERE PULLING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER LOADED WITH ATV'S AND MY HUSBAND AND I HAD OUR 11 YEAR OLD NIECE AND 12 YEAR OLD NEPHEW WITH US. WE STRUCK A MINIVAN. THE MINIVAN INCURRED DAMAGE TO PASSENGER SIDE REAR QUARTER PANEL. OUR TRUCK INCURRED DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT QUARTER PANEL, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR, THE FRONT BUMPER, THE ABS SENSOR, AND THE RUNNING BOARD. THE TIRE WAS SENT TO A FORENSIC LAB AND THE REPORT INDICATES THAT THE GENERAL AMERICTECH TIRE WAS NOT ONLY MANUFACTURED INCORRECTLY BUT WAS ALSO DESIGNED INCORRECTLY. I HAD TO REPLACE 7 TIRES ON MY TRUCK AS I FELT THE AMERITECH'S WERE NOT SAFE. *TR
2004 F350 DIESEL 6.0 ,EGR COOLER WENT OUT. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HWY WHEN THIS OCCURED. CLOUDS OF SMOKE WENT OUT THE TAILPIPE, ENGINE OVERHEATING STRANDING ME IN THE CENTER LANE STOPPED BEFORE I COULD GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. PASSERBY'S HELP ME PUSH MY TRUCK OFF A BUSY HWY. SMOKE WAS SO THICK I COULDNT NOR COULD OTHER DRIVERS SEE AROUND ME. FORD HAS HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS ENGINE AND PART,BUT HAVE FAILED TO RESPOND,OR THEY WAITING FOR A DEATH TO OCCUR. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE EXACT SAME THING. LETTERS TO FORD MOTOR CO. AND MY LOCAL DEALER LEIF JOHNSON FORD WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. I'M NOT ABLE TO PAY THE ALMOST $3000 THE DEALER WANTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT ON FORD'S PART. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE EGR COOLER TUBE. SHE ALSO SMELLED ANTIFREEZE IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE AND TO RETURN IF THE FAILURE WORSENED. LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THICK, BLACK OIL COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE EGR COOLER TUBE WITH A KIT FROM FORD AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000. UPDATED 06/09/09.*JB
2004 F350 6.0 POWERSTROKE BOGGS WHEN TAKING OFF. SOMETIMES WILL ACT LIKE YOU TURNED OFF SWITCH WHEN YOU PUSH DOWN THE PEDAL THERE IS NO EFFECT. MOSTLY WHEN DRIVING UP THE MOUNTAIN ITS LIKE IT DON'T GO PAST IDLE HAS NOT STALLED YET. 8 INJECTORS REPLACED FRONT AND REAR INJECTOR HARNESS REPLACED HIGH PRESSURE PUMP FUEL MILEAGE 13 MPG. HEAD GASKETS REPLACED EGR COOLER REAR MAIN SEAL ALL UNDER 65,000 MILES. *TR
THE GAS TANK FAILED ON MY 2004 FORD TRUCK WITH ONLY 23,000 MILES ON IT CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WILL SPONTANEOUSLY DECELERATE FROM 60 MPH TO 15 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND A MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE CARBON IN THE ENGINE. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE ENGINE SIZE IS 6.0L V8. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000. UPDATED 05/05/09 *BF UPDATED 05/06/09.*JB
2004 FORD F350 DUMP TRUCK SHUTS DOWN WITH NO WARNING. CONSUMER STATES THAT FORD WILL NOT HONOR TRUCK WARRANTY AND WILL NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE DUMP TRUCK SHUT DOWN, THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE DIESEL TANK AND DIESEL LINE WHICH HAD ERODED DUE TO CONTAINMENTS IN THE DIESEL GAS, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED TWO MORE TIMES. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD 350 DIESEL. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT. A TOWING SERVICE REPLACED THE TIRE. THE TIRE SHOP INSPECTED THE TIRES AND NOTICED THAT THE VALVE STEMS ON THE OTHER 3 TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE, HOWEVER HE STATED THAT THE TIRE THAT EXPLODED DID NOT HAVE A DEFECTIVE VALVE STEM. WE HAVE A FORD F350 4X4 DULLY WITH GENERAL AMERI-TRAC TIRES. WAS TRAVELING ON I-20 INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE SET ON 70. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED SNOWING RUBBER. THOUGH TIRE NEVER WENT FLAT, IT CAUSED $2,540.00 IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE,AND A VERY SCARED WOMAN WHOSE PRESENCE OF MIND AVERTED A LIFE-THREATENING CALAMITY THE TIRES ARE THE ORIGINAL WITH PLENTY OF TREAD STILL ON THE TIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. LOAD RANGE E LT235/85R16. IS THERE A RECALL ON THESE TIRES? BY OUR INSPECTION, AND OUR CUSTOMARY MAINTENANCE OF THESE TIRES AND VEHICLE, NO CAUSE FOR THIS NEAR CALAMITY EXISTED, EXCEPT THE TIRE ITSELF. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 F-350 SUPERDUTY 4X4 [6.0 DIESEL]. I DROVE THROUGH WATER THE DEPTH OF THE STOCK TIRES. THE ENGINE INGESTED WATER BY WAY OF THE INTAKE. I WAS ADVISED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THE INCIDENT DESTROYED THE ENGINE. THE AIR INTAKE IS LOCATED AT THE FRONT GRILL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FLAW IN DESIGN, CAUSING EASY ACCESS FOR THE WATER TO ENTER FROM THE AIR INTAKE. I AM GETTING NO ASSISTANCE FROM THE FORD COMPANY OR MY VEHICLE INSURANCE IN COVERING THE DAMAGE, WHICH IS ESTIMATED AT $ 15,000.00 DOLLARS. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM IS OCCURRING OFTEN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350. IN JANUARY OF 2008, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE LINER IN THE FUEL TANK DELAMINATED, CAUSING PLASTIC PIECES TO FLOW THROUGH THE FUEL LINE, PUMP, AND INJECTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ON 01-06-2008 I STARTED TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS WITH MY 2004 FORD F-350. IT HAS JUST OVER 41,000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS SMOKING AND HAD SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER PROBLEMS WHILE AT LOW ROAD SPEED. PROBLEM WOULD CLEAR ONCE TRUCK WAS >40 MPH IN SPEED. TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALER ON 01-07-2008. THEIR INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT THE EGR VALVE WAS STICKING. THE VALVE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE PERSON STATED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON ENOUGH THAT THEY ARE KEEPING A COUPLE OF EXTRA EGR VALVE ASSEMBLIES IN THEIR STOCK ROOM. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY INDICATION OF A PRODUCT RECALL IN THE WORKS. HE SAID THAT HE DID NOT KNOW OF ONE BUT THAT ONE MIGHT HAPPEN IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND THAT I SHOULD KEEP MY INVOICE JUST IN CASE. MY QUESTION/CONCERN(S) IS THIS: HOW OFTEN OR FREQUENT SHOULD AN EGR VALVE STICK AND/OR FAIL? IF THEIR FAILURE RATE IS HIGH (1 FAILURE PER VEHICLE EVERY 50,000 OR LESS) THEN SHOULDN'T THERE BE A REDESIGN AND RECALL TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY? *TR
THE TRUCK STALLED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, JUST BEFORE THE ENTRANCE TO A TUNNEL. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE TRAVEL LANES OF THE INTERSTATE. MANAGED TO CROSS FROM THE RIGHT LANE, ACROSS A MERGE LANE TO THE SHOULDER. MANAGED TO RESTART ENGINE. EXCESSIVE SMOKE, RUNNING ROUGH. STAYED ON SHOULDER UNTIL ENGINE RAN SMOOTH ENOUGH TO GO. TAKEN TO DEALER. EGR VALVE REPLACED. INTAKE MANIFOLD CLEANED. TURBO CLEANED. COST $1776.82 TO REPAIR. SUPPOSEDLY NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THIS HAPPENED ON EITHER THE FIRST MONDAY OF NOVEMBER OR THE LAST MONDAY OF OCTOBER, AS WELL AS THE PREVIOUS FRIDAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE CLUTCH PEDAL BROKE WHEN DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL HE SHUT OFF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BRACKET THAT HELD THE FIRE WALL BROKE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRACKET WAS MADE OF PLASTIC AND THEY REPLACED THE BRACKET AND CLUTCH PEDAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. UPDATED 01/29/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED IT'S NOT THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE FIREWALL BUT BOLTS THE FIREWALL. THE CLUTCH, BRAKE, AND GAS PEDAL ALL PIVOT ON PINS THAT ARE ASSEMBLED TO THIS BRACKET. MY 2004 FORD F-360 TRUCK WOULD "CUT OUT" AND TRY TO QUIT RUNNING WHEN SLOWING FOR A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. THOUGHT IT WAS BAD FUEL, FUEL FILTERS. HAD RECALLS DONE (GFR). PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN AND WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING A 16 FT. TRAILER WITH ONE HORSE LOADED, BEGAN TO EMIT WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST. THE TRUCK APPARENTLY OVERHEATED BUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID NOT INDICATE SUCH. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY WERE 99% SURE IT WAS GFR AGAIN, BUT IT WAS NOT. THE PROBLEM IS MUCH BIGGER. APPARENTLY IT WILL COST $5-10,000 FOR REPAIRS. THE MILEAGE IS 104,000, JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND I DID NOT PURCHASE ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I THEN HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO SAID HE COULD FIX THE TRUCK FOR A LOT LESS. BUT, HIS ESTIMATE WAS JUST AS COSTLY AS THE FIRST ESTIMATE. THE TRUCK REMAINS AT THE DEALER AS I REFUSE TO PAY THAT MUCH TO REPAIR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350 CREW CAB DIESEL. THE VEHICLE HAS 6 GENERAL 87516 TIRES, SIZE, P235/85R16. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TREAD SHREDDED OFF THE TIRES AND DESTROYED THE FENDERS. THE FIRST FENDER COST $1,100 TO REPAIR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME ON JUNE 3, 2009. THE TIRES DID NOT LOSE AIR DURING EITHER FAILURE. THE CURRENT TIRE MILEAGE WAS 41,000. OWN A 2004 FORD F-350 SD. FOR YEARS HAVE HAD SURGING PROBLEMS WHEN DRIVING. HAVE TAKEN INTO SHOP AND THEY CANNOT DETERMINE REASON. IT HAPPENS WHILE STOPPED OR DRIVING, SURGING AND TRYING TO JUMP BECAUSE OF THE SURGE. TURBO CHARGER HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. *TR
VEHICLE HAD A STALLING PROBLEM ON ACCELLERATION. VEHICLE IDLED FINE, BUT FREQUENTLY ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP AFTER VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL. ENGINE WILL MISFIRE, SHUTTER, OR BACKFIRE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS UNTIL CLEARING UP. ALSO, VEHICLE MISFIRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCATIONS TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY REPORTED COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. DEALER REPLACED SEVERAL INJECTORS AND EGR VALVE TO NO AVAIL. *AK
ON MARCH 5 2007 I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS STEERING MY TRUCK. I TOOK IT TO AN ALIGNMENT SHOP. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. FORD SAID THEY REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. 4 DAYS LATER I LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK IN A CURVE AND HIT A DUMP TRUCK. THE ALIGNMENT SHOP LATER TOLD ME THAT THE TRUCK HAD A DEFECTIVE STEERING GEARBOX AND THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT. *JB
THE PICKUP TRUCK KEEPS RUNNING VERY ROUGH AND LURCHING FORWARD WHILE IN DRIVE. THE TRUCK HAS ALMOST COMPLETELY DIED ON ME SEVERAL TIMES. EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 5 OR 6 TIME OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS. THEY HAVE DONE A UPGRADE ON THE COMPUTER AND REPLACED SEVERAL VALVES/PARTS. EVERY TIME THIS MYSTERY PROBLEM KEEPS COMING BACK. IT SEEMS TO SURFACE AT IT'S WORST WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE GETS WARMER, ABOVE 50 DEGREES. FORD HAS BASICALLY BEEN NO HELP AND SEEMS TO BE STUMPED OVER THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SPENT AT LEAST $500 ON A WARRANTY ITEM THAT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, IT SEEMS AS IF I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRONT END BEGAN SHAKING BADLY AND THE VEHICLE JUMPED INTO SEVERAL LANES. THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE WAS VEERING TO THE RIGHT WHILE THE FRONT END VEERED TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO BRAKE SLOWLY AND PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER. HE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT 25 MPH AND THEY STATED THAT THE STABILIZER BAR AND BRACKET, WHICH WERE CONNECTED TO THE AXLE, FAILED AND SPLIT EIGHT INCHES. THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO FILE A REPORT AND WERE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 88,000.
I BROADSIDED A FORD RANGER THAT RAN A STOP SIGN. TRAVELING AT 35 TO 45 MPH. IT WAS A DIRECT HIT AND NEITHER AIR BAG WENT OFF. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS THE TRUCK AND IS LOOKING INTO THE FAILURE. FT. WORTH POLICE OFFICER SAID HE HAD SEEN A 1000 WRECKS AND IF THAT WRECK DID NOT SET THEM OFF THEY MUST BE DEFECTIVE. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F350. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE ENGINE WOULD REV. DEPENDING ON THE CONTACT'S REACTION TIME, THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE 4-5 FEET. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS. THE RPM WOULD INCREASE TO 1,000. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONTROL MODULE, THREE TURBOS, THREE EGR VALVES, AND THE BACK PRESSURE SENSOR. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUES. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN IDLE OR AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, ACCELERATION OCCURRED ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE BUT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM WHICH PERSISTED.
2004 FORD F350 CREWCAB REAR SEAL HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES, TURBO UNIT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *KB ***NAR*** THE REAR ABS SENSOR WAS REPLACED. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 FORD F-350 IN OCTOBER 2004. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED 8 TIMES PRIOR TO 6/2006 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE THAT TIME AS IT CONTINUOUSLY STALLS WITHOUT WARNING AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE DIES FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND WITHOUT WARNING AND THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND FORD REFUSES TO BUY BACK THIS VEHICLE AS THEY SHOULD. *NM
AT JUST UNDER 25,000 MILES, MY ROTORS WERE WARPED ON MY 2004 F350 DIESEL DUALLY (4X4 8'BED CREW CAB). I DO HAUL TRAILERS UNDER 8000 LBS OCCASIONALLY BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO UNDO STRESS ON THIS TRUCK TO WARRANT SUCH A CONDITION SO EARLY. EVEN THOUGH MY BRAKES WERE "IN THE GREEN" AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE AT 20,000 MILES, AFTER MY COMPLAINT THEY SAID MY BRAKES WERE NOW IN THE RED - ALONG WITH MY WARPED ROTORS. THIS DEFINITELY SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED AND THE ENGINE DIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE OIL PUMP AND THE LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS FAILED. THE OIL PUMP IS MADE OF ALUMINUM WHICH INFLUENCED THE INTEGRITY OF THE PUMP, AND CAUSED THE PUMP TO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. THE DEALER WAS ALERTED OF THE PROBLEM, PRIOR TO THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP MAKING THE REPAIR. UPDATED 5/10/2006 - THE VEHICLE LEAKED COOLANT WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT BUT THE TEMP GAUGE DID NOT INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE COOLANT ALSO FLOWED THROUGH THE EGR VALVE WHICH CAUSED LOSE OF POWER. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, FUMES WERE LEAKING INTO THE CAB AND THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIRS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE STALLING. THE FUEL HOSES ON THE TURBO CHARGER WERE REPLACED IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE FUMES, BUT THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO OBTAIN THE PARTS FOR REPAIRING THE OIL LEAK. *AK
DIESEL SMELL IN THE CAB OF A FORD F350 TRUCK WITH 6.0 ENGINE. THIS IS THE SECOND INSTANCE OF THIS IN THIS TRUCK. BOTH HAVE BEEN COVERED BY WARRANTY, BUT THE FIRST TIME WAS IN MAY OF 05 AND THE SECOND TIME WAS FEB 06 IS THIS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THE SMELL IS SICKENING AND IF YOU DO NOT OPEN THE WINDOWS EYES WATER,FEEL TIRED, SICK TO STOMACH, ALL NOT GOOD FOR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD (PEOPLE REALLY LOOK AT YOU LIKE YOU ARE NUTS WHEN ITS 5 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND YOU ARE DRIVING AROUND WITH YOUR WINDOWS OPEN). THIS TIME IT HAS BEEN BLAMED ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, THE FIRST TIME IT WAS WHAT THEY CALLED THE DOWN EXHAUST PIPE. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A BIGGER PROBLEM WHICH HAS TO DO WITH THE 6.0 ENGINE. TOO MUCH PRESSURE FOR THE EXHAUST. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS WITH THE RADIATOR HOSE. I HAVE 46700 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND THE RADIATOR HOSE HAS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RUBBING ON THE POWER STEERING GEAR BOX, FORD WILL NOT COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE COME UP WITH A NEW HOSE AND NEW PART NUMBER TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING. I HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD IF THEY ARE REPLACING THE HOSE WITH THE OLD STYLE OR THE NEW STYLE. *NM
LOSS OF PULLING POWER ON MY 2004 FORD 350 SUPER DUTY. THE TRUCK WILL LOSE POWER TO PULL UNDER EVEN A SMALL LOAD. WHEN PULLING OUT I HAVE TO HAVE A LARGE AREA OF NO TRAFFIC, HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE I CAME CLOSE TO BEING HIT IN THE SIDE WHEN I HAD A POWER FAILURE AND PULLING ONTO ROADWAY. I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM LOOKED AT BY A FORD SERVICE CENTER 11 TIMES AND THEY CAN NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO REPURCHASE THE TRUCK. *NM
I RECENTLY ATTENDED A FUNERAL FOR MY NEPHEW IN OMAHA, NE. HE HAD DIED ON MONDAY, JANUARY 2, 2006 IN BELLEVUE, NE HE WAS IN A CAR WASH AND (ACCORDING TO SOME WITNESSES), THE FORD F350 SUPER DUTY DIESEL TRUCK (I BELIEVE IT WAS A 2004) SUDDENLY WENT INTO REVERSE AT A HIGH SPEED AND BACKED OUT OF THE CAR WASH, ACROSS A STREET, ACROSS A LAWN AND ONTO A DRIVEWAY WITH A WALL. THE TRUCK WAS AGAINST THE WALL AND THE TIRES WERE STILL TURNING AND THE TIRES FINALLY BLEW AND CAUSED A FIRE THAT CONSUMED MY NEPHEW. I HAVE HEARD THAT THE AUTOPSY REPORT SAID THAT HE DIED OF SMOKE INHALATION. HE WAS BADLY BURNED. I DON'T KNOW THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. I 'M TRYING TO GET A COPY OF THE POLICE REPORT FROM THE BELLEVUE POLICE DEPT, BUT HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM YET. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS VEHICLE HAS ANY HISTORY OF A SIMILAR PROBLEM, BUT I WANTED TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. *JB
2004 F350 TURBO DIESEL PICK UP THE TURBO DIESEL BOOSTER IS DEFECTIVE AND CANNOT BE REPAIRED AS TO MAKE THE TRUCK SAFE WHILE TOWING. THIS MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON AN UPHILL GRADE BECAUSE OF RAPID LOSE OF POWER AND SPEED. IF A VEHICLE IS FOLLOWING TO CLOSELY BEHIND THIS VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE FOR THE PROBLEM AND THE FORD DEALER SAYS THIS IS NOT THERE PROBLEM BUT THE FORD MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM. THEY HAVE NOT PUT OUT A RECALL NOR A REPAIR KIT FOR THIS PROBLEM. *JB
DT: THE VEHICLE STALLED ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT SURE IF THEY HAD REPLACED ANYTHING ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE AT TIMES OR WOULD COMPLETELY STALL. THIS STARTED ON MARCH 1, 2004. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR NOISE UNTIL THE PROBLEM HAD ACTUALLY OCCURRED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED HIM TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS AN ELECTRONIC PROBLEM. *SC . *AK
FORD F-350 DIESEL-2004 CAR SHUT DOWN IN THE PASSING LANE ON PA TURNPIKE. TOWED TO FORD...NO INSULATION ON WIRING HARNESS, SHORTED OUT THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK STOPPED DEAD IN THE ROAD..NOW THE FORD DEALER FIXED IT BY PUTTING INSULATION OVER IT TO GET ME BACK ON THE ROAD. IT HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP THE WEEK BEFORE, AND THE WEEK BEFORE THAT BECAUSE I COMPLAINED OF LOSING POWER ON THE ROAD WHEN I TRAVEL. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE A FIRE WITH MY FAMILY! *NM
I WAS DRIVING MY FORD F350 DOWN A 2 LANE ROAD WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER FOLLOWING CLOSE BEHIND ME AT 60 MPH WHEN MY TRUCK STALLED. TO AVOID BEING CRUSHED BY THE SEMI I VEERED OFF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT AND PUT MY TRUCK INTO THE DITCH AND THE SEMI HAD TO SWERVE TO MAKE IT ALL THE AROUND ME. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD A QUATER TANK OF FUEL IN IT. I HAD TO LEAVE THE TRUCK THERE TILL THE NEXT DAY. THE NEXT MORNING I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER VELDE FORD THEY ALSO SAID THEY COULDN'T TOW IT. I CALLED A WRECKER SERVICE AND THEY HAULED IT TO VELDE FORD. VELDE FORD WOULDN'T HAVE A DIESEL MECHANIC TILL MONDAY. VELDE FORD ALSO SAID THEY COULDN'T PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR. THEY DID FIND A THIRD RECALL ON MY TRUCK FOR THE EXHAUST SENSOR. ON MONDAY, VELDE CALLED ME TO TELL ME THE FUEL PUMP HAD GONE OUT AND THEY ORDERED A NEW ONE WHICH WOULD BE THERE ON TUESDAY. IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY STILL COULDN'T REIMBURSE ME FOR THE TOW OR RENTAL CAR BECAUSE THE TRUCK HAD 92,000 MILES ON IT. EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK HAS 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY WOULDN'T REIMBURSE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO VOICE MY DISSATISFACTION WITH EVERYTHING HAPPENING AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING EITHER AND I HAD TO CONTINUE TO TALK TO THE DEALER. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILING HAD THE SAME SAFETY CONCERNS AS THE 05S34 RECALL HAD THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION WHICH COULD HAVE KILLED ME AND MYPASSENGERS BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CONCERN WITH IT BECAUSE YOUR ORGANIZATION WASN'T INVOLVED. TUESDAY THE FUEL PUMP ARRIVES BUT IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A NEW REDESIGNED FUEL PUMP BECAUSE THE OLD STYLE HAD PROBLEMS AND THEY DIDN'T ORDER THE REQUIRED WIRE HARNESS TO GO WITH IT. THURSDAY ARRIVES AND THE NEW WIRE HARNESS FINALLY GETS THERE. I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE ON RV WEBSITE FORUMS AND FORD TRUCK FORUMS WITH THE SAME FUEL PUMP PROBLEM ON 6.0 LITER DIESEL ENGINE TRUCKS. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS COMPELLING ENOUGH TO INVESTIGATE. *NM
WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE WE ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE AND A PUFF OF BLACK SMOKES COMES OUT OF THE EXHAUST. THEN SHORTLY AFTER THIS HAPPENS, WE YOU STOP AT AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE WILL DIE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. HAVE HAD IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON FIVE OCCASIONS, THEY HAVE SAID IT IS FIXED, WHEN IT IS NOT. WHEN HOOKED TO THE COMPUTER, THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEMS. THIS LAST TIME, THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THAT THEIR COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW ANY PROBLEMS. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM OR WE WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN IT IN. WE ARE MAKING THE PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE, YET IT SITS IN THE SHOP. HAVE BEEN IN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE THAT ON 3 OCCASIONS WHERE IT HAS STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ALSO HAS STALLED AT LEAST 20 TIMES WHEN SLOWING FOR A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. *JB
DT: CONTACT STATED THERE HAS BEEN TWO RECALLS THAT HAVE BEEN SERVICED. BUT THE CONSUMER WAS STILL HAVING STALLING PROBLEMS. THE SERVICE DEALER INSPECTED THE FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL MODULE HARNESS AND REPLACED THE INJECTOR CONTROL PRESSURE SENSOR AND REP THE AIR CHARGING COOLER DUCT. MOST OF THE TIME THE VEHICLE STALLED WAS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST TAKING OFF, IT LOADED UP WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. THIS VEHICLE DID NOT STALL EVERY TIME THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER DID NOT WANT TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER, HE WOULD NOT GET ANY RESOLUTION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THREE BLOWS OUT IN SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE FIRST BLOW OUT OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE SECOND OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE AND 50 MILES LATER THE OTHER ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR BLEW OUT. *JB
OCCASIONALLY WHILE STOPPED IN GEAR WITH THE BRAKE DEPRESSED MY TRUCK WILL "SURGE" AND LURCH FORAWD AS THE IDLE INCREASES. IF I'M NOT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE FIRMLY THE TRUCK MOVE FOWARD AND WON'T STOP UNTILL VERY FIRM PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE.
DT: CONTACT STATES WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IT SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL. THE SERVICE DEALER INFORMED HIM THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.*AK
DT: CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MPH STEERING LOCKED UP, CAUSING A VEHICLE CRASH. MANUFACTURER STATED THERE HAD TO HAVE BEEN A DRAMATIC HIT ON THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. *AK
THE ENGINE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THA T ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
