DUE TO A TRANSMISSION DESIGN FLAW, THE CAR WILL SHUDDER WHEN THE GEARS SHIFT FROM LOW TO HIGH. THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED AT TUTTLE CLICK FORD IN IRVINE, CA. ON 12/11/2014 AND 4/14/15. THE TRANSMISSION OF THE CAR CONTINUES TO SHUDDER DURING MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. I HAVE A COPY OF EACH INVOICE FOR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS.
AFTER DRIVING AND THEN PARKING THE FORD FIESTA 2011 FOR A SHORT DINNER AND THE COMING BACK TO THE CAR. I FOUND THAT THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE STARTED AND IT WAS STUCK ON THE PARK POSITION. THE AUTO HAD TO BE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THERE THEY FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION.THEY PERFORMED FSA 14M01 PLUS OTHER BULLETINS THAT PERTAINED TO THOSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT THE FORD CLAIMS,BUT TO NO AVAIL THE PROBLEM HAS MIGRATED WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION AND IT SEEMS THAT THEY CANT FIX. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TOO LONG AND IT COSTING TOO MUCH MONEY IN AUTO RENTALS AND AGONY. I BELIEVE THAT THE FORD SHOULD OWNED UP TO IT AND COMPLETED CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION. NOW IT DOES NOT TAKE REVERSE. *JS
DROVE CAR ON HIGHWAY THIS MORNING ON WAY TO WORK AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OR GO. THE ONLY THING MOVING WAS THE RPM'S. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY AND TURN THE CAR OFF. AFTER THE RESTART, THE CAR WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE BUT NOW IT WAS SHIFTING BADLY IN AND OUT OF GEARS. MY WORK WAS ONLY RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER SO I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT IN. I WENT ON A LUNCH BREAK TO TEST DRIVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK AND IT WAS GIVING ME THE SAME PROBLEM. SHIFTING OUT OF 4TH GEAR INTO 3RD FOR NO REASON. IT'S NOT EVEN DRIVABLE. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THIS CAR IN THE SHOP 2 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. BOTH TIMES TOOK WEEKS TO GET MY CAR BACK, AND I'VE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. THIS WILL BE THE 3RD TIME IT'S GOING INTO THE SHOP, AND NOW IT'S STARTING TO RISK MY SAFETY IN THE PROCESS. I HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD AS WELL SO I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUES OF THESE CARS AND THEIR TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
FOR APPROX. 2 MONTHS, MY CAR WILL NOT ALWAYS START. I WOULD HAVE TO CRANK IT A FEW TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD TURN OVER. REPLACED THE BATTERY AND IT STILL HAPPENED. ONE NIGHT, STOPPED AT THE STORE FOR A FEW MINUTES. GOT IN THE CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START. LEFT FOR AN HOUR, GOT BACK IN AND IT STARTED. DROPPED IT OFF AT THE FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE STARTER. THE NEXT DAY WENT TO THE P.O., GOT BACK IN AND IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. WAITED 1/2 HOUR AND IT STARTED. DROVE RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE TCM. (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE). THAT WAS 12/5. I AM HOPING THIS DOES THE TRICK. HAVE READ ABOUT 2011 FIESTA TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEMS AND HOPE I HAVE NO MORE PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SERVICE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION SOON WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. MA 10/6 THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCES EXCESSIVE SHUDDERING AND JERKING WITH ACCELERATION, SEVERE RATTLING AND GRINDING NOISES, TO COMPLETE LOSS OF RESPONSE WITH THE ACCELERATOR. THIS IS EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN. IT HAS SUPPOSEDLY BEEN REPAIRED ON FORD 5 TIMES NOW, HOWEVER THIS TIME THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. THIS IS A DANGER TO MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD WHEN YOU CAN NOT CONTROL ACCELERATION/DECELERATION. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 11/2014.
PASSENGER SIDE BACK DOOR LATCH WONT CLOSE. DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE. LATCH WON'T ENGAGE. *TR
2011 FORD FIESTA SE, 47500 MILES. USE BACK DOORS APPROXIMATELY ONCE A MONTH. I CLOSED THE BACK DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE AND IT JUST BOUNCED BACK AT ME. COULD NOT SHUT DOOR, WILL NOT LATCH, CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON. TEMP FIX WAS TO CLOSE THE LATCH MANUALLY TO TURN OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS THEN BUNGEE THE DOOR AS CLOSE TO CLOSED AS I COULD - STILL HAS ABOUT A ONE INCH GAP FOR RAIN TO GET IN OR THIEVES - PLUS WHENEVER I TURNED RIGHT THE BACK DOOR WOULD OPEN. NO WAY TO BUNGEE IT TIGHTER. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER WHO ACTED SURPRISED WHEN I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE LATCH/LOCK. COST: $420 TO REPAIR ONE DOOR. UPON RETURNING HOME SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE FIESTA'S DOORS AND IN NO WAY SHOULD MY DEALER OF BEEN SURPRISED. CALLED DEALERSHIP BACK, NO COMPASSION - SAID IF THE LOCKS EVER GET RECALLED THEN FORD WOULD REFUND MY MONEY. I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR AND IT WILL NOT BE A FORD. WILL KEEP MY RECEIPT SHOULD THE LOCKS MAKE THE RECALL LIST. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BUT I GUESS UNTIL SOMEONE IS HURT OR WORSE IT WILL NOT BE RECALLED. *TR
DOOR LATCH NOT WORKING PROPERLY. 1. PARKED THE CAR AND REAR PASSENGER OPENED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR 2. CLOSED THE DOOR BUT IT DIDN'T LATCH 3. REPEATEDLY ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR BUT IT WOULDN'T LATCH 4. PUT THE KEY TIP IN THE CENTRAL LOCKING/UNLOCKING AND TWISTED/JIGGLED IT (CENTRAL LOCKING/UNLOCKING IS LOCATED ON THE DOOR JUST ABOVE THE LATCH) 5. CLOSED THE DOOR AND IT LATCHED. 6. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS EACH TIME YOU OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE (PASSENGER EXITING THE CAR). YOU CAN OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND THE DOOR WORKS CORRECTLY. 7. LOOKED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED AND I SEE MANY ISSUES WITH FORD FIESTA DOOR LATCHES, SO ADDED MY REPORT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WITH CHILDREN IN BACK SEAT OF VEHICLE AND BOTH REAR DOORS FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING. UPON PULLING OVER TO SECURE REAR DOORS, I OBSERVED THAT THE RIGHT REAR DOOR LATCH IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT CLOSE AND THE LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH IS OPEN AND WILL NOT SECURE UPON CLOSING. *TR
WENT TO MY CAR , PUT A BAG IN THE BACK FLOOR , SHUT THE BACK DOOR , THE DOOR BOUNCED BACK AND HIT ME, THE LATCH WOULD NOT CATCH. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED. AFTER STOPPING, I FOUND THE LATCH ON THE DOOR DID NOT WORK. *TR
IN NOVEMBER OF 2014 I RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE ON MY 2011 FORD FIESTA ABOUT A 'SHUTTERING' ISSUE WITHIN THE MOTOR/TRANSMISSION. SINCE THIS TIME, MY CAR HAS GONE BACK EVERY 3 MONTHS TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE REPAIRED. THIS WILL BE TRANSMISSION NUMBER 4 WITHIN 1 YEAR. I WAS ALREADY TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY CAR CANNOT BE REPAIRED. FORD CANNOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN GREAT, THEY HAVE BEEN HONEST WITH ME FROM THE START. THEY HAVE ADVISED THAT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO TRY AND FIX THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL IT RUNS OUT. THE 2012 FIESTAS DO NOT HAVE THE SAME MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION THUS, THE ISSUE IS FIXED. I CALLED MY FINANCE COMPANY AND ASKED THEM IF I CAN RETURN THE CAR SINCE THE CAR CANNOT BE REPAIRED. I WAS ADVISED I HAD TO GO THROUGH FORD AND HAVE THEM START THE PAPERWORK. I WAS FURTHER ADVISED THAT THE PAPERWORK HAS TO BE CODED TO REFLEX THE CAR CANNOT BE REPAIRED, THEREFORE IT IS CODED DIFFERENTLY TO REFLECT ON MY CREDIT REPORT AS A VOLUNTARY REPOSSESSION DUE TO UNREPAIRABLE VS JUST NON-PAY. I CALLED FORDS CUSTOMER RELATION TEAM 1-800-392-3673 OPTIONS 1,4 &5. I SPOKE WITH RENEE WHO ADVISED I HAD TO GO TO FORD CREDIT TO GET THE PAPERWORK. RENEE ADVISED ME MY CAR IS TOO OLD FOR THEM TO BUY BACK (MY CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD). SHE FURTHER ADVISED THE NUMBER AS 800-727-7000. SHE ADVISED THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP ME. I CALLED FORD CREDIT AND SPOKE WITH CHAD WHO ADVISED ME HE COULD NOT HELP ME SINCE ALL I WANT TO DO IS RETURN MY CAR AND HAVE THE PAPERWORK CODED THAT IT IS BEING RETURNED BECAUSE THE CAR CANNOT BE REPAIRED. I DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG, I PAY FOR MY CAR EACH MONTH AND EVEN FOR THE MONTHS WHEN MY CAR IS AT THE GARAGE. I WANT TO RETURN THE CAR AND HAVE MY CREDIT SCORE NOT AFFECTED BY THE RETURN.
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE HOOD AND DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHTS WILL FLASH AND BEEP DURING RANDOM INTERVALS. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR AT LEAST FIVE MINUTES, EITHER THE CAUTION LIGHTS OR ALARM WILL GO OFF. THESE WILL EVENTUALLY TURN OFF WITHOUT ANY ACTION. BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED AND ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT PASSED AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE OVERDRIVE AND GRADE ASSIST WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SPEED DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND SUDDENLY FUNCTIONED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
A MONTH AND A HALF AGO THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR REFUSED TO CLOSE. TODAY THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. *TR
I TRIED TO CLOSE THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. I COULD NOT SEE A PROBLEM AND TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL MORE TIMES UNSUCCESSFULLY. I HAD TO USE THE SEAT BELT TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED SO THAT I COULD DRIVE HOME. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT WAS 215 MILES AWAY. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYED ON AND THE REAR SEAT DOME LIGHT STAYED ON THE ENTIRE TRIP. ONCE HOME, I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO PREVENT IT FROM BEING DRAINED. I WILL BE CALLING MY LOCAL FORD DEALER FROM WHICH I BOUGHT THE CAR 4 YEARS AGO TOMORROW MORNING. *TR
MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR WAS OPENED WHEN GETTING INTO THE CAR AND WAS THEN CLOSED BUT IT DID NOT LATCH. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON. TWO WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE DRIVER SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THIS HAS CAUSE MY BATTERY TO GO BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP ZECK FORD IN LEAVENWORTH KANSAS AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND IF IT IS RECALLED THEN I WOULD BE ISSUED A REFUND OR I COULD JUST WAIT IT OUT AND SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL ISSUED. FOR THE MEAN TIME, I HAVE MY REAR DOORS SECURED WITH A RATCHET STRAP INBETWEEN THE HANDLES DUE TO THE HUGE COST OF REPAIRING THE DOOR LATCHES, MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON AND MY CAR BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED DOWN EVERYNIGHT PUTTING EXTRA WEAR ON A BRAND NEW BATTERY. IF I LET IT SIT FOR MORE THAN ONE NIGHT THEN IT HAS TO BE JUMP STARTED. I AM NOT VERY HAPPY WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR NOT ADDRESSING THIS ASAP. I BELIEVE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM AND I AM UNABLE TO HAVE ANY PASSENGERS IN THE REAR SEATS AND I FEAR THAT ONE OR BOTH OF THE FRONT DOORS COULD FAIL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM CAUSING INJURY TO MYSELF, OR MY PASSENGER OR CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BE UN DRIVABLE IF ONE OF THE FRONT DOORS FAILS. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A COUNTY PARK AFTER DARK, AND WAS TRYING TO GAUGE THE DISTANCE OF AN INCOMING CAR, TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT I HAD TIME TO PULL OUT. IN ORDER TO SEE BETTER, I LIGHTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, BUT INSTEAD OF SLOWLY INCHING FORWARD A FEW INCHES OR A FOOT, MY CAR LEAPT OUT INTO THE PATH OF THE ONCOMING CAR AND THEN STOPPED. I TRIED TO THROW THE CAR IN REVERSE, BUT THERE WASN'T TIME TO REACT. THE OTHER DRIVER TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND SWERVE TO AVOID ME, BUT WAS UNABLE TO AVOID HITTING MY DOOR. ME, MY THREE CHILDREN, AND THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER CAR WERE ALL TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. THE CHILDREN WERE NOT ADMITTED, AS THEY ONLY HAD A FEW BRUISES, BUT THE OTHER DRIVER AND I WERE BOTH ADMITTED AND SUBSEQUENTLY RELEASED THAT SAME NIGHT. I RECEIVED A CITATION FOR FAILING TO YIELD, WHICH I PLAN ON CONTESTING. MY CAR HAS LEAPT OUT INTO A CROSS-STREET LIKE THAT AFTER STOPPING FOR STOP SIGNS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT ALWAYS TO A LESSER EXTENT, AND NEVER ON A BUSY STREET. IT ALWAYS TAKES SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER THIS OCCURS FOR THE ACCELERATOR TO FUNCTION AGAIN, WHICH IS WHY I TRIED TO THROW MY CAR IN REVERSE INSTEAD OF DRIVING FORWARD. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING PROFUSELY UPON EXCELLERATING AFTER STOPS. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD DATED AUGUST 2014, STATING THAT THEY WERE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON MY CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION INPUT SHAFT SEALS, AND TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE CALIBRATION TO 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES, BECAUSE OF THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS, AND URGING ME TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED IF EXPERIENCING SHUDDERING. BECAUSE OF MY HUSBAND'S WORK SCHEDULE, WE HAD NOT GOTTEN AROUND TO HAVING THE SEALS REPLACED YET AS RECCOMENDED. I FEEL THAT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT I HAD BEEN HAVING WITH MY CAR, ARE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR MY COLLISION, AND COULD EASILY HAVE RESULTED IN THE DEATHS OF 5 PEOPLE. *TR
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH BROKEN, DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. *TR
NO ISSUES WITH DOOR UPON FIRST ENTERING PASSENGER SIDE. GOT OUT OF VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO CLOSE THE DOOR BUT DOOR WOULDN'T LATCH SHUT. DOOR BOUNCED BACK AND I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS PREVENTING THE DOOR FROM FULLY CLOSING BUT NOTHING WAS OBSTRUCTING THE DOOR. HAD TO PHYSICALLY HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE WE DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID NOT HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE AND TOLD US IT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS TO GET IT IN WITH A CHARGE OF OVER $300. VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. NO PREVIOUS ACCIDENTS. DROVE THE CAR HOME WITH MY DAUGHTER HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT. LUCKILY THE CAR DOOR DIDN'T SRPING OPEN WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. DOOR MALFUNCTIONED LESS THAN 10 MINUTES AFTER WE LEFT THE HOUSE. *TR
WHILE OUT SHOPPING ON THE NIGHT OF OCT. 8, 2014 WITH MY PREGNANT STEP DAUGHTER WE RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE TO FIND THAT THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR FAILED TO LATCH. I WAS UNABLE TO GET IT TO LATCH PROPERLY. I WAS ABLE TO HOLD THE DOOR MOSTLY CLOSED WITH THE SEAT BELT, BUT EVERY TIME I MADE A LEFT TURN THE INTERIOR LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON. I AM ONLY ABLE TO USE THE CAR WITH THE REAR DOORS STRAPPED TO EACH OTHER. *TR
MY HUSBAND WENT TO PLACE MY SON'S TODDLER SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT WHEN HE DID HE LATER TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. WE TRIED CLOSING IT SEVERAL TIMES AND NOT SUCCESSFUL. THIS HAPPENED TO THE RIGHT REAR DOOR. MY HUSBAND THEN TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND SAID THAT IT WOULD COST ROUGHLY $500 TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. WE DIDN'T LEAVE IT BECAUSE THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT FORD SHOULD TAKE CARE OF SINCE TO ME IT SEEMS TO BE A CAR DEFECT AND NOT ANYTHING WE DID TO IT. SO WE SAW THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WITH THIS PROBLEM AND WANT TO UNITE WITH OTHER OWNERS TO GET THIS RESOLVED WITH A RECALL. *TR
WOKE UP ONE MORNING, WENT TO GO PUT SOME STUFF IN BACK SEAT OF MY CAR. SHUT THE DOOR AND NOTICED IT POPPED RIGHT BACK. TRIED AGAIN AND KEPT POPPING BACK. HAS NOT CLOSED SINCE. TOOK TO FORD AND SAID MY LATCH BROKE AND THAT IT WOULD BE ALMOST $500 IN SERVICE AND PARTS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO ACT UP. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE OVER 30 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP WHILE DRIVING. *TR
THE REAR LEFT PASSENGER DOOR WON'T LATCH. DOOR FLIES OPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE (2011 FORD FIESTA) WAS PARKED IN AUSTIN, TX. AFTER OPENING THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR, IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE LATCH ASSEMBLY FOR THE DOOR APPEARS TO BE BROKEN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THAT IT WOULD COST ~$500 FOR THE NEW LATCH ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION. WE HAVE OPTED TO HOLD THE DOOR TOGETHER BY USING A BUNGEE CORD AND ROPE ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FIESTA GOING ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR AND THE RIGHT REAR DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHEN I HIT A CURVE IN THE ROAD. I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND REALIZED THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE (LATCH). MY SON WAS WITH ME IN THE FRONT SEAT AND HE HAD TO SIT IN THE BACK AND HOLD THE DOOR UNTIL WE COULD DRIVE HOME ABOUT 2 MILES AWAY. THE DOORS ARE CURRENTLY HELD SHUT WITH CARGO STRAPS AS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE DOORS TO LATCH. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE CAR WAS IN PARK. UNDER WARRANTY AND WITH VERY FEW MILES ON THE CAR, THE DEALERSHIP FIXED MY FORD FIESTA AFTER I REPORTED THE CAR STALLING. THIS PROBLEM WAS HAPPENING WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR. I COULD BE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WAITING TO TURN LEFT, IDLING IN TRAFFIC, STOPPED AT A LIGHT...CAR MIGHT STALL. I DREADED BEING ON A BUSY SOCIAL HIGHWAY STUCK IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE CAR MIGHT STALL AND OFTEN IT DID. I WAS TOLD IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH OXYGEN OR LACK THEREOF. FAST FORWARD TWO YEARS. MY CAR STARTED STALLING AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IT ALSO SEEMED TO HESITATE, JERK, OR NOT RESPOND WHEN I ACCELERATED.THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WELL, WITH THESE LAST TWO PROBLEMS I AM NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD THROTTLE BODY SENSOR ($880 REPAIR). I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND HEARD FROM OTHERS THAT THIS IS ALL TOO COMMON WITH FORD FIESTA'S AND OTHER FORD MODELS. I HAVE CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO REPORT THIS AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS. THEY OPENED A CASE NUMBER AND DIRECTED ME TO ASK THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I TOOK IT FOR REPAIRS IF THEY WOULD HELP OUT. THEY DID NOT HELP WITH THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIR. I LEARNED JUST YESTERDAY THAT A FAMILY MEMBER WITH THE SAME CAR WITH LOW MILES - 2011 FORD FIESTA - IS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEMS. SOUNDS VERY MUCH LIKE HE MAY BE FACED WITH THE SAME, EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. I HOPE THERE WILL BE A RECALL FOR THIS THROTTLE BODY SENSOR PROBLEM. THIS CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS VISITS TO THE DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES INCLUDING THE MOST RECENT APROX. TWO MONTHS AGO. THE CAR WILL SHUDDER AND BUCK WHILE SHIFTING AND MAKES A HORRENDOUS NOISE WHILE DRIVING. IN THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT THE CAR CAME TO A BUSY STOP SIGN WHERE 2 HIGHWAYS CROSS AND THEN WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED THE CAR MOVED A FEW FEET TO THE CENTER OF THE INTERSECTION AND THEN WOULDN'T MOVE ANYMORE. IT JUST REVVED THE ENGINE LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. AFTER APROX. 20-30 SECONDS IT FINALLY ENGAGED THE TRANSMISSION AND THEN CONTINUED TO DRIVE. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT (AGAIN, 3RD TIME NOW). THESE CARS ARE A LIABILITY AND A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN WHEN THEY CANNOT ACCELERATE WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND SPUTTERING. *TR
I GOT IN MY CAR, SHUT THE DOOR AND DID MY NORMAL START UP ROUTINE. I WAS FOLLOWING MY WIFE HOME AND SHORTLY AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE I LEANED OVER TO THE LEFT LIKE I ALWAYS DO TO PUT MY ELBOW ON THE WINDOW SILL WHEN THE DOOR CAME OPEN. I LOST BALANCE TO THE LEFT AND SLIGHTLY SWERVED AND HIT THE BRAKES TO STOP. THE DOOR FLUNG OPEN FROM MOMENTUM AND BOUNCED BACK AT ME WHEN THE CAR STOPPED. IT HIT MY LEFT SIDE BUT NO MAJOR DAMAGE. MY WIFE STOPPED UP AHEAD AND CAME BACK AND WE WERE UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE DOOR POPPED OPEN AND COULD NOT GET IT TO LATCH. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE FIRST SERVICE ADVISER, NOT MY REGULAR SERVICE ADVISER, TOLD ME TO KEEP MY RECEIPT AND WHEN THE RECALL WAS ISSUED THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME AND THAT IT SHOULD ONLY BE A FEW WEEKS. AS I WAS LEAVING MY REGULAR SERVICE ADVISER SAW ME AND ASKED WHAT WAS GOING ON. I TOLD HER THE SITUATION AND SHE SAID THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE EVEN CHARGED IT AS THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN DEALING WITH THE ISSUE FOR OTHER CUSTOMERS. SHE TRIED TO STOP THE BILLING FROM GOING THROUGH BUT THEY HAD ALREADY PROCESSED IT. SHE SAID NOT TO WORRY AND IT WOULD ONLY BE A FEW WEEKS AT MAX... THIS WAS OVER SIX WEEKS AGO. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 55 TO 60 MPH THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OPENED FOR NO REASON. IT WOULD NOT SHUT AND HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN HEAVY TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. UPON INSPECTION IT APPEARS THE DOOR LATCH BROKE WHILE THE DOOR WAS SHUT AND THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THIS CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH A CAR DOOR OPENING ON ITS OWN, ESPECIALLY IN THAT KIND OF TRAFFIC. ABOUT A YEAR AGO I WAS GOING UP LOMBARD STREET IN SAN FRANCISCO WITH A FRIEND OF MINE AND 2 YOUNGER SISTERS. WE WERE WAITING IN THE LINE OF CARS, AS THERE IS ALWAYS AN AMOUNT TRYING TO GO UP THE FAMOUS STREET. AFTER 10 MINUTES IN TRAFFIC MY ENGINE LINE CAME UP WITH A WARNING STATING THE ENGINE WAS TO HOT. WHEN THE CARS MOVED UP MINES WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TRIED PUSHING ON THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I WASN'T SURE WHAT TO DO SINCE MY CAR WAS STUCK ON AN INCLINE WITH A HEAVY AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC SO I TOLD MY FRIEND TO TAKE THE WHEEL. HE SOON NOTICED THAT ALTHOUGH THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO GO UP IT WAS ABLE TO REVERSE. SO HIS IDEA WAS TO GO ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET WHERE THERE WERE NO CARS GOING AT THE MOMENT IN REVERSE. WITH MY LITTLE SISTERS FRIGHTEN IN THE CAR WE DECIDED IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO GET OUT OF THE HEAVY TRAFFIC INCASE I NEEDED TO CALL A TOE TRUCK. WE REVERSE THE CAR ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET ALL THE WAY DOWN AND WAS ABLE TO PARK IT CORNER IN REVERSE. WE DECIDED TO WAIT 20 MINUTES AND SEE IF THE CAR WOULD TURN ON, LUCKILY IT DID. SOON AFTER I TOOK IT TO FORD TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY STATED IT WAS NOT THE TRANSMISSION AND CHANGED A SMALL PART IN WHICH THEY CLAIM IT WOULD FIX IT. 2 MONTHS WE WENT TO GET ICE CREAM AND PARK THE CAR ON A HILL IN SAN FRANCISCO, MUCH SMALLER INCLINE. HOWEVER WHEN WE CAME BACK TO THE CAR IT DID TURN ON BUT THEN WHEN I TRY STEPPING ON THE GAS THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE, AGAIN. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAITED 5 MINUTES AND THEN TRIED AGAIN, THANKFULLY IT MOVED. I AM AFRAID IF DRIVING MY CAR IN ANY TYPE OF INCLINES FEARING MY CAR IS GOING TO STOP AGAIN. SERVICE WRITERS SAID THAT WAS THE 4-5TH FIESTA/ FOCUS WITH THIS PROBLEM LATELY AND THAT THEY WERE WAITING 2-3 WEEKS ON BACK ORDER FOR THE SAME PARTS FOR THE PREVIOUSLY KNOWN VEHICLES.THIS SMALL TOWN DEALER WAS WAITING 2-3 WEEKS ON BACK ORDER TO FIX THIS IN 4-5 OTHER FIESTA/FOCUS. I HAD TO ORDER AND PAY FOR PARTS SO THEY WOULD BE ORDERED. UPON MY GOING HOME, AFTER CINCHING UP THE DOOR AGAIN, I CALLED THE NUMBER FOR FORD WEST REPRESENTATIVE. I HAD "DIRECT #" ([XXX]) FROM PREVIOUS INCIDENT NOT RELATED TO THIS DOOR. THE PHONE WAS ANSWERED BY A DIFFERENT PERSON, WHO SAID SHE WAS IN THAT POSITION NOW AND THAT I WAS IN ERROR CALLING HER INSTEAD OF FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. HER INFO: "[XXX] (866) 631-3788 [XXX]. I RECEIVED CALL THAT PARTS WERE IN ON 9/26/14, HAD THE REPAIR DONE ON 9/29/14, WHICH WAS THE NEXT DAY SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS OPEN. THE CONCERN I HAVE ON THIS PROBLEM IS THAT SOME CHILD OR OTHER BACK SEAT RIDER WHO IS NOT BELTED IN IS GOING TO HAVE THE DOOR OPEN AND FALL OUT, I WOULD GUESS THIS WILL HAPPEN TO ANY OF THE DOORS. THINKING I HAD NOT SHUT THE DOOR ALL THE WAY I SHUT THE DOOR TO ONLY HEAR AN EMPTY "THUNK" AND THE DOOR BOUNCED BACK. I ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE IN A VARIETY OF WAYS TO NO SUCCESS AND MY FINAL SOLUTION WAS TO USE A RATCHET STRAP TO SECURE THE DOOR SHUT. IT WAS ONLY UPON RESEARCHING HOW TO FIX THIS THAT I REALIZED I COULD POST HERE. THANKFULLY MY EQUIPMENT AND GROCERIES WERE RELATIVELY UNDAMAGED GIVEN THE LOWER SPEED OF THE INCIDENT BUT IF ANYONE HAD BEEN IN THE BACKSEAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
