NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2012 Ford Fiesta. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
started and moved the gear lever from "P" mode to "D" mode to move the vehicle forward. But couldn't move the vehicle. So tried to changed the gear mode and move but couldn't do. Then switched off the engine and tried to switch on. But couldn't do it. Tried several times and started the vehicle but couldn't move the vehicle, because the gear lever moved only physically. The "Check engine" light was lit all the time on the dash board. We had to tow the vehicle to the dealership since we couldn't drive the vehicle.
My engine light came on so I took it to Ford dealership and they told me it's the car computer not understanding when the engine is turned off and that it is not an urgent issue to keep driving it since they are backed up. A week later while driving the car just stopped the engine light started glitching. After 2 minutes it starts again. So I called Ford explained what happened they could check it a week later so I start calling around. Found Ford dealership that can check it immediately, then they told me that the issue is a wiring problem that Ford has sent them a bulletin about but it is not a recall. I told them that it should be a recall if Ford knew that a wiring issue can make your car just stop in the middle of traffic with no warning whatsoever. The issue on my invoice says EEC TEST CODES P2610 P2138, PIN POINT TEST, NEED TO PERFORM TSB 13-11-15 WIRE REPAIR BYPASS CONNECTOR C210 TO PCM, REPROGRAM PCM TO LATEST SOFTWARE. It is a safety issue if your car just stops working in the middle of traffic and Ford know but refuse to issue a recall for it.
The vehicle is a 2012 Ford Fiesta, purchased on 3/4/2016 by 9/8/2016 I had to have the car repaired for transmission issues. As I was driving to work on the freeway on 9/30/21 I experienced warning lamps from the coolant system and the oil lamp (consistently stayed on since 7/08/21) I exited the freeway, and as soon as I did the vehicle shut off and the gear shifter froze not moving from park to drive or neutral nor would the car start. At this point, I was in the middle of workday traffic and had to get out of my car and put on my safety vest, and direct traffic around my vehicle to keep traffic from lining up right behind the car. Nonetheless I was fortunate that I was able to get off the freeway. I had the vehicle towed to an AAA mechanic who stated the ECM was "shot" and they could not get the vehicle into gear. This caused me to have difficulty getting a tow because the driver could not move the vehicle and a wheel lift had to be used instead of a flatbed tow truck. Multiple times the car was "repaired" at the dealership and since I have a parts warranty I then had the car towed again to the dealership. I found at this time the PCM computer was not communicating with the car allowing it to start. This dealership representative has been the one who worked on the vehicle in the past. At times they were able to reproduce problems or complaints I had regarding stuttering, jerking as if it were going to stall. On 8/7/20, the entire dashboard set of warning lights (engine, oil change reminder, engine oil pressure, power train reduced power) lit up as I was driving the vehicle stuttered jerked, and stalled in the middle of the street. Although I am not a mechanic, I believe the PCM, ECM, and TCM computers are related and cause the car to be unsafe. My fear is the car is a dangerous and unreliable vehicle and I have informed the dealer service representative that I do not wish to repair the vehicle at this time even if I could afford to do so.
I am writing this email in prayers that I can receive some resolution to the ongoing issues with my 2012 Ford Fiesta. In 2019 I purchased this vehicle through a third party ford dealer in Massachusetts. I have been experiencing issues with the car shutting off since the beginning of purchase such as, slow acceleration and gear slippage. The dealership had my car examined by their service center and replaced spark plugs. Somehow the car passed inspection and was given back to me a couple of weeks later but the issue continued. Unfortunately I was past the 30 day warranty so the dealer would not honor lemon law and any further inspections/ repairs would be my responsibility. The car has had acceleration issues since then despite tuneups, oil changes, battery replacements. I have tried it all. No codes were popping up related to transmission. After relocating to Fort Myers May 2021 I began experiencing more frequent but brief issues with acceleration and stalling. The car was inspected at Ford for a door latch recall. My issues with transmission were reported for Ford but I was advised that I would need another appointment as this is a separate issue and would require a $200 diagnosis fee as well as possible repairs and labor fees. Due to limited income I was discouraged to book this appointment. At that time they were booked out 6 weeks for diagnostic. I researched the codes popping up and discovered a major lawsuit for these very same codes. Upon reaching out to Ford I was told the extended customer satisfaction had expired by 2 months, December 2021. I have tried multiple times to have them rectify the fact that their staff and corporate representatives never made me aware of their fee and repair waivers or settlements I was entitled to. I initially made my complaints to them about the car in September 2021 and was completely dismissed and deceived by their warranty. I was pretty much discouraged with enough time for their extended warranty to expire.
Car turns off randomly when driving. Majority of the time it happens when the car is slowing down or turning. Check engine light just turned on 8/27 reading code PO101 meaning there isn’t enough fuel getting to the engine or too much is going to the engine.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact initially stated that after making a complete stop, the vehicle would jerk upon the depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the transmission clutch was replaced. The contact then stated that while driving at 25 MPH, an abnormal noise had emitted from the vehicle as the vehicle stalled out without warning. The contact was able to restart the engine but the vehicle had failed to accelerate. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective PCM(Powertrain Control Module); the contact was also informed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that occasionally there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not restart. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the battery needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure still occurred. The contact then towed the vehicle to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with nothing needing to be replaced. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving 50 mph and coming to a stop, she heard an abnormal sound and the vehicle started shuddering and inadvertently stalled. The "Transmission Failure" message appeared on the instrument panel along with several other unknown warning lights. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission had failed, and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). The contact stated the failure reoccurred while driving and the vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
It started with a loud thud sound while driving. It was as if something hit or fell on the car. Scary loud sounds from the car used to happen randomly at anytime. I had to stop the car, get out and check what fell or hit the car but every time I checked there was no mark or scratch or sign of something hitting. Sounds were so sudden and loud that someone could easily be shocked and lose control of the car. After such repeated incidents of loud thumping sounds I thought that it was the speakers (part of cars standard audio system) that was making the sound. I thought that the problem can be temporarily solved by turning off the audio system. But it was not so. Car kept making disturbing noises even with the audio system turned off. Over time it got worse and more frequent. It scares kids and other co-passengers. Knowing how disturbingly and dangerously sudden these noises are I absolutely cannot lend my car to any family member or friend to drive on their own. They could lose control of the car harming themselves or others. Now it does long crackling, popping and thumping sounds even when the car itself is off ignition. I am holding the car keys, am outside the car, it makes crackling sounds on simply opening and shutting the doors of the car. Upon quick search of this problem on the internet I find that a LOT of people have reported having this problem - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLx0WN23SD4. I along with lot of others who have reported this problem are surprised that there is not already a recall of this. There appears a related TSB but it doesn't list 2012 Ford Fiesta SE - https://www.tsbsearch.com/Ford/13-4-14. Please have Ford address this and save lives. Thank you
I have owned this Fiesta almost two years buying it used. It has shuttering and bucking problems intermittently from a stop-to-go situation. More severe symptoms are approaching a stop sign and/or traffic light and applying the brakes and having the car continue to lurch forward and almost go thru an intersection - where I totally lost control of the car - and had to pull over more than once to shut the car off to stop it. I have spoken to Ford Corporate to please buy the car back from me and crush it so it doesn't wind up on the road again to injure someone. Ford will do nothing. Now, because of the lurching forward and erratic behavior, a Ford dealership did a diagnostic and said I need a new clutch which is the cause of the problem but I am not sure this is the case. Even though Ford admitted they designed a faulty transmission, they will not do a thing to help me out, saying the warranty expired on the clutch and to look down the road, that they may have a recall on it again some day to extend the warranty. I want your organization to know I believe these cars are an accident waiting to happen and should be taken off the road. It is very stressful for me to drive this vehicle knowing at any time I could lose control of it and cause an accident. As it is, because of my experience I now stop almost one and a half car lengths in back of a car when braking so it doesn't lurch forward and I rear end someone. I do not park in front of buildings for the same reason, if the car lurches forward I may go thru the building. I just want to be on the record with my observations of this vehicle.
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH DON'T STAY SHUT AND NOT ABLE TO LATCH SHUT, MOVING TURNING LEFT THE DOOR SWUNG OPEN.IN CITY STREET.. NOTICE IT WAS ON A RECALL... TURNED IT IN ON APRIL 6,2021
LOW BEAMS DON'T WORK, REPLACED BULBS AND DIDN'T FIX CHECKED RELAY AND IT WAS CORRODED AND ONE OF THE PINS IS NOW STUCK IN THE BOX. IT WAS STATIONARY
OM SUNDAY MARCH 28,2021 MY HUSBAND AND I ATTENDED A AUTO AUCTION. WHEN THE DEALER BROUGHT OUT A 2012 FORD FIESTA. BEFORE BIDDING STARTED EVERYTHING LOOKED AND SOUNDED ALRIGHT. WE ENDED UP PAYING $3200.00 FOR A VEHICLE THAT THEY FAILED TO PROVIDE FAULTY PROBLEMS. CAR HAS A LIEN ON IT. AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT I CAME TO A RED LIGHT WHEN IT TURNED GREEN THE CAR STARTED SPUTTERING LOOSING FUEL AS WELL AS ACCELERATION. I THAN PULLED INTO THE A PARKING AT THE GAS STATION TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION MAKING NOISE AS WELL AS SLIPPING, SPARK PLUGS, OIL CHANGE. I THEN DROVE BACK TO THE CAR BUT EVERYONE WAS GONE FOR THE DAY. I TRIED CALLING THE OFFICE THE NEXT DAY AND LEFT MESSAGES. NO RESPONSE WHAT SO EVER. THE GIRLS ARE REALLY UNORGANIZED AND SHOULD TREAT OTHERS THE SAME YOU WOULD TREAT THEM. I AM WRITING THIS LETTER TO INFORM EVERYONE I WAS SOLD A VEHICLE THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ON THE ROAD. I WAS ALSO TOLD TODAY 4/5/21 THAT ON MARCH 5TH A LIEN WAS FILLED OUT AND TURNED IN. I'M REQUESTING THE AMOUNT I PAID FOR THIS LEMON LAW VEHICLE ALONG WITH COMPENSATION FOR GIVING FALSE INFORMATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERABLE, WITHOUT WARNING. THE LOW BEAM RELAY HAD SEIZED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE CHANGED DUE TO CORROSION. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED.
I WAS TOLD FROM A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC THAT MY DUAL TRANSMISSION WAS THE MAIN CAUSE FOR THE CAR STUTTERING AND HAVING A HARD TIME ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING AND IT'S SOMETHING THEY CAN'T FIX ONLY FORD CAN, THIS PROBLEM WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I'M STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT STOP SIGN AND TURNING CORNERS
CAR LOSING ACCELERATION, GOING INTO NEUTRAL, SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR, 'WHILE PASSING A CAR, VEHICLE'S ENGINE REVVED UP TOO HIGH AND CAR WAS NOT RESPONDING WHILE PASSING A CAR, ALMOST HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISION
THE TRANSMISSION KEEPS STALLING AND SHIFTING IN LOW GEARS. STUTTERING TRANSMISSION.
THE DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN, THE DOOR IS OPEN . I CALL A FORD DEALER AND THEY TELL ME, THAT THEY CAN'T DO THE SERVICE BECAUSE FORD DOESN'T HAVE THIS PART AVAILABLE.
RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 20S30 (20V-331). CALL MY DEALER TO TAKE IT IN. "NO ONE HERE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU. CAN YOU CALL BACK?" I RESPONDED, "IT'S FORD'S SAFETY RECALL - I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CALL YOU BACK. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO LEAVE MY NUMBER AND YOU CALL BACK." NO, IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. WHAT A LOUSY WAY TO RESPOND. While my 16 yr old twin sons were driving on freeway, a loud pop of pressure release from motor occured, and steam blew out from under hood obscurring their visibilty. they were able to pull over safely and call me. Upon arrival, after confirming they were ok, I checked under hood to see that the intake manifold had built up to much pressure for the PCV hose and the recirculating hose that connects to top of valve cover. Oil had sprayed out everywhere and car will not start. Ive lost compression in 2 cylinders now from the fast overheat. My childrens safety was severily compromised by this chain reaction of a failed PCV valve. Ive since found out of recalls. This is whats stated for my 2015 Ford Focus, but happened to my 2012 Ford Fiesta Oct 22,2018 Manufacturer Recall Number18S32 NHTSA Recall Number18V735 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete Summary ON YOUR VEHICLE, THE PCM SOFTWARE MAY NOT ADEQUATELY DETECT A STUCK-OPEN CANISTER PURGE VALVE (CPV) WITHIN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM. IF THE CPV MALFUNCTIONS AND STICKS OPEN, IT CAN LEAD TO EXCESSIVE VACUUM IN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM, POTENTIALLY DEFORMING THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK. THIS CAN CAUSE THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS: ILLUMINATED MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) WITH CERTAIN DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) INACCURATE OR ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE INDICATION INACCURATE DISTANCE TO EMPTY (DTE) ENGINE STALL AND/OR OTHER DRIVABILITY CONCERNS RELATED TO STUCK OPEN CPV Safety Risk THIS MAY RESULT IN AN ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING OR WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO RESTART, AND CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. I now have 2 auto loans im upside down on for recalls that I cant even get my car to Ford because I cant afford the tow. I pay over $500 monthly for lemons.
BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME. HIGH BEAMS STILL WORK. I LOOKED IT UP ON THE WEB AND FIESTAS IN CANADA HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT FOR SOME REASON NOT IN THE US. CAR WAS MOVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I TURNED ON THE LIGHTS AND THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND THEY WERE OUT.
THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK ON THE LOW BEAM SETTING. FOUND THE HEADLIGHT RELAY TO HAVE HEAVY CORROSION. THE FRONT MOST TERMINAL HAS CORRODED OFF OF THE RELAY ENTIRELY AND IS NOW STUCK IN THE ELECTRICAL BOX UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR. I NOTICED THIS CONDITION WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE EARLY EVENING JUST BEFORE SUNSET. I WAS ABLE TO ARRIVE AT HOME BEFORE THE LACK OF LIGHT CAUSED ANY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE FUSE IS DESIGNATED R11 ON THE ELECTRICAL BOX. IMPROPER SEALING OF THE ELECTRICAL BOX HAS LED TO MOISTURE BE ALOUD IN CAUSING DAMAGES. FAULTY CONSTRUCTION FROM MANUFACTURER.
THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 80000 MI AND HAS A ENGINE CODE OF P0606. THE COMPUTER MALFUNCTION AND STOPPED AT THE LIGHT AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED ABOUT THIS
DOOR LATCH FAILURES X 3 AFTER REPLACEMENT OF ALL PER RECALL NOTICE 15V-246. (12/2015)
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM JERKS WHEN TRYING TO TURN HARD TO GO UP AN INCLINE SOMETIMES SHUTS OFF. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO SLIP REPEATEDLY AFTER I TOOK IT TO FORD WHERE THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THAT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT . THEY WERE RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE. IT HAS SLIPPED IN ALL FORMS OF MOVEMENT . WHEN I'VE BEEN BRAKING ,DRIVING URBAN OR HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT BACK TO A DIFFERENT DEALER SHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY TRANSMISSION WAS BAD.
RANDOMLY MY STEERING WHEEL WILL GET LOCKED UP WHEN DRIVING. IT MAKES IT HARD TO TURN. THE SAFETY WARNING COMES ON. SOMETIMES I CAN TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON A HALF HOUR LATER AND THE PROBLEM JUST DISAPPEARS. SOMETIMES IT TAKES LONGER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE STOPPED AND ATTEMPTING TO MOVE OFF FROM THE STOPPED POSITION, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A HESITATION BEFORE THE VEHICLE RESPONDED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,500.
AFTER A RECALL OF DOOR LATCHES THAT WERE REPLACED I HAVE HAD 3 OTHER LATCHES MALFUNCTION. MOST RECENTLY MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I HAD TALKED TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR NOW. THEY DID REPAIR ONE LATCH AFTER THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY. I CURRENTLY CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE MY VEHICLE!
I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC 2012 FORD FIESTA, A MODEL THAT IS INFAMOUS FOR ITS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I HAD THE CLUTCH AND SEAL KITS REPLACED AT APPROX 72K MILES ON 10/5/2017 UNDER TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 14M01; IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS REPAIR, THE VEHICLE HAD TO GO BACK INTO THE SHOP FOR A HIGH IDLE AND CONTINUED SHUDDERING. SINCE THEN, I HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE STUDDERING ON TAKEOFF, HESITATING AND THEN JUMPING WHEN ACCELERATING, AND ULTIMATELY WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. IN MID-JULY 2019, WHILE LEAVING MY SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD AND MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO THE MAIN ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH, MY VEHICLE SLIPPED FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL AND I LOST ALL POWER AND WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE EFFECTIVELY OR SPEED THE VEHICLE UP EFFECTIVELY. THANKFULLY THIS HAPPENED EARLY IN THE MORNING WITH NO CROSS TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT SAFELY. THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN 7 MONTHS LATER IN LATE-JANUARY 2020. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE FORD FOR AN INSPECTION ON 2/7/2020 (WHICH THEY CHARGED ME FOR). THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID BETWEEN THE BELL HOUSING AND THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, SEALS, AND SHIFT FORKS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, APPROXIMATELY 7K MILES AFTER THE FIRST REPLACEMENT, BUT THAT I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE ABOUT $2,500 OUT OF POCKET. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE UNDER 14M02 BUT STATED THAT IT PROBABLY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. FORD KNOWS THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE AN ISSUE. THERE IS NO REASON WHY A TRANSMISSION SHOULD FAIL 16K MILES AFTER BEING REPLACED. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO EITHER BUY MY VEHICLE BACK OR PERFORM ANOTHER CLUTCH REPLACEMENT AT THEIR EXPENSE.
MY HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AND AFTER I REPLACED THE BULBS, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. AFTER FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY CAR HAD A CORRODED RELAY JUNCTION. IT ENDED UP COSTING ALMOST $2000 TO REPAIR. I HEARD FROM THE MECHANIC AND REPORTS ON LINE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL SO I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE WORTH REPORTING.
MY 2012 FORD FIESTA HAS NO FILTRATION SYSTEM TO PREVENT SALT AND MOISTURE FROM GETTING INTO THE ENGINE FUSE BOX. LAST YEAR, A MECHANIC REWIRED THE FUSE BOX LOW BEAM RELAY TO A DIFFERENT FUSE, NOW THE CORROSION HAS STARTED UP AGAIN. THIS FORCES ME TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS UNTIL I HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE FUSE BOX, WHICH IS EXPENSIVE AND CAUSES ME TO BE UNSAFE UNTIL I FIX THE PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS ONLINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO SHIFT FROM NEUTRAL. ALL THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BILL HOOD FORD (1500 N MORRISON BLVD, HAMMOND, LA 70401 (985) 205-8157) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,130.
TRANSMISSION KICKS IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHEN STARTING OUT. SEEMS TO BE DANGEROUS AT AN INTERSECTION.
DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE FUSE BOX LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THE RELAY (R11) RESPONSIBLE FOR SWITCHING ON & OFF THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAS CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT ONE OF THE PINS IS STUCK IN THE FUSE BOX & IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE OF THE BOX. INITIALLY, THIS STARTED WITH INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT FAILURE--SOMETIMES AT STARTUP & OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT OR DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE CORROSION WAS MISSED WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. NOW, THE LOW BEAMS DO NOT WORK AT ALL DUE TO THE COMPLETE CORROSION OF THE PIN. THIS HAS LEAD TO SEVERAL UNSAFE SITUATIONS. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE & OTHER CARS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE ME WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS STOP WORKING. I'VE HAD TO DRIVE WITH HAZARDS INSTEAD OF HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT TO ENSURE OTHERS COULD SEE ME WHILE I MOVED MY CAR FROM THE HIGHWAY TO A SAFE PARKING SPOT. I NEARLY HIT A DEER I WAS UNABLE TO SEE DUE TO MY HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THIS MAKE & MODEL HAS BEEN RECALLED IN CANADA BECAUSE THEY RECOGNIZE THE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE PRESENT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS NOT RECOGNIZED IN THE UNITED STATES.
THE EXACT TIME OF THE INCIDENT IS UNKNOWN. I HAD NOT DRIVEN MY CAR AT NIGHT FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE I TRIED TO TURN ON MY LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WHEN I WAS PARKED IN A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY AT NIGHT. MY CAR'S LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS DID NOT TURN ON. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE LIGHT BULBS WERE UNDAMAGED, BUT THE RELAY HAD BECOME CORRODED. WHEN THE RELAY WAS REMOVED THE CORRODED PRONG BROKE OFF (OR OTHERWISE REMAINED) IN THE FUSE BOX. NOW THERE IS NO WAY TO REPLACE THE RELAY, BECAUSE OF THE PRONG IN THE FUSE BOX. MY LOW BEAMS DO NOT WORK. MY TURN SIGNALS AND MY HIGH BEAMS STILL FUNCTION, BUT IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH ONLY HIGH BEAMS. SO, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. BELOW IS A PICTURE OF THE CORRODED RELAY PRONG IN THE FUSE BOX. THE PRONG IS BLUE/GREEN AND IS LOCATED IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND OF THE PICTURE. RECENTLY IN CANADA, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM FOR SIMILAR FORD FIESTAS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLES HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE HIGH BEAMS WERE ACTIVATED TO VIEW THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (HAWK FORD LOCATED AT 2525 E MAIN ST, ST. CHARLES, IL 60174) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE BATTERY JUNCTION BOX FAILED; THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED (155364 MILES ON ODOMETER). CAN'T CLOSE/LOCK DOOR. LATCHES WERE REPLACED UNDER RECALL 2/28/18 @ 148,721 MILES.*DT *DL
THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THEY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS, PEDESTRIANS AND ONCOMING VEHICLES. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. IT HAPPENS IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TEMPERATURES. IT OCCURS BOTH DURING CITY DRIVING CONDITIONS AND HIGHWAY DRIVING CONDITIONS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A SHORT BETWEEN THE HEADLIGHT, THE VEHICLE FUSE BOX AND THE HEADLIGHT ON AND OFF SWITCH. THE HIGH BEAM SYSTEM IS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM. LIGHTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND FUSES HAVE BEEN CHANGED.
TRANSMISSION FAILED WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING/RATTLING NOISE THEN STARTED SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR.
I JUST BOUGHT A USED 2012 FORD FIESTA AND I REALIZED AFTER BUYING IT THAT THE ODOMETER ISN'T WORKING AT ALL. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN I START THE CAR, THE 1RT GEAR WON'T GO INTO SHIFT SO THE CAR STUTTERS AND SHAKES. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER BUT THEY INSISTED THAT THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. I KNOW THAT THERE IS A CONSUMER CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST FORD DUE TO FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS BUILT INTO THESE MAKE AND MODEL. I HAVE CONTACTED A LAWYER AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM HIM. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. THANK YOU. P.S: I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TYPE OF PHOTOS OR DOCUMENTS YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO UPLOAD DO PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH MORE INFORMATION WITH THIS REGARD.
MY VEHICLE WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION LURCHED FORWARD ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS STATIONARY WITH MY FOOT FULLY COMPRESSING THE BRAKE. THEN OUT OF NOWHERE MY ENGINE AREA STARTED MAKING A STRANGE NOISE AND I LURCHED FORWARD SEVERAL FEET ALMOST COLLIDING WITH A VEHICLE IN THE INTERSECTION. THIS WAS ON A COUNTRY ROAD IN AN INTERSECTION. I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE RECENT TRANSMISSION ISSUES FORD HAS ADMITTED TO.
STATIONARY VEHICLE: UNSEALED ENGINE COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX LED TO CORROSION OF THE HEADLAMP RELAY TERMINALS. RESULT WAS INTERMITTENT HEADLAMP FUNCTION EVENTUALLY FOLLOWED BY COMPLETE HEADLAMP FAILURE.
I JUST BOUGHT A 2012 FORD FIESTA FROM A DEALERSHIP BACK IN AUGUST. I SEARCHED THE WEBSITE, ONCE THE ISSUE CAME TO SURFACE, AND IT IS PART OF A RECALL. THE RECALL IS THE EXACT ISSUE THAT STARTED ON MY CAR LAST NIGHT. THE DOOR DOESN'T CLOSE AT ALL/THE LATCH DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE BEEN PAYING MONTHY PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND NOW I NEED SOME INFORMATION ON HOW TO GET MY CAR FIXED.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED REPEATED AND FREQUENT PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE: SHUTS OFF FOR NO REASON DAILY, OFTEN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR JUST AFTER I BEGIN ACCELERATING; THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY (HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE AT 97,000 MILES AT GREAT EXPENSE) AND SIMPLY STOPS WORKING AT UNEXPECTED TIMES (E.G. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL AND WON'T MOVE, SHUDDERS, ETC. I HAVE TO TURN MY FIESTA OFF AND RESTART TO GET IT TO MOVE).. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. I READ THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THESE ISSUES FROM DATE OF MANUFACTURE, AND HAS NOT PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT ENGINEERS OF THE FIESTA ARE NOW GOING PUBLIC. WHEN IS SOMETHING GOING TO BE DONE? WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED, OR WORSE, TO GET REDRESS FOR WHAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS AWARE OF, AND COVERED UP, EVEN WHILE THESE VEHICLES WERE BEING MANUFACTURED? THIS IS A CONTINUING ISSUE, NOT A SINGLE OR EVEN A 20 TIME OCCURANCE.
THE LOW BEAMS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. I CHECKED AND THERE IS A RECALL IN CANADA. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ISSUE IS NOT ON RECALL IN THE UNITED STATES. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE BOX CORRODING. THE CANADIAN RECALL NUMBER IS 19S28. CAN THIS BE LOOKED INTO AS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT?
2012 FORD FIESTA - LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. THEY WORK SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. WHEN THEY ARE WORKING THEY CAN SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. A LITTLE RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THE LOW BEAM RELAY FOR THE HEADLAMP HAS SOME CORROSION BUILT UP ON IT AND IS CAUSING THE ISSUE. HAVEN'T YET BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR IT. THIS IS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAPPENS ON A CITY STREET AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE LOSE OF HEADLAMPS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT SEEMS SEEMS TO BE RATHER DANGEROUS. I COULD UNDERSTAND IF IT WAS A BULB THAT WENT OUT BUT CORROSION ON THE TERMINALS OF THE RELAY MIGHT NOT BE REPAIRABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE COST.
DRIVING ON A TWO WAY ROAD, THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT. I COULD NOT SEE. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE HIGH BEAMS WORKED. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN ANOTHER CAR WAS COMING TOWARDS ME AND I HAVE SWITCH TO THE LOW BEAMS. I REACHED MY DESTINATION BUT THE PROBLEM PERSIST.
