WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED THE CLUSTER OF INSTRUMENTS ON THE DASHBOARD FAIL AND RETURN TO THEIR OFF POSITION. DASHBOARD GOES BLANK, REVERSE LIGHTS COME ON AND AIR CONDITIONING TURNS OFF. THIS LAST APPROXIMATELY 15 SECONDS AND THEN EVERYTHING RETURNS TO NORMAL.. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH THIS FAILURE AND NO TURN SIGNALS. OBVIOUSLY FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND COULD CARE LESS UNTIL SOMEONE GETS KILLED. WILL NEVER PURCHASE FORD AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ABNORMALLY AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DUMPSTER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
THE CAR LUNGES IN DRIVE AND REVERSE WITHOUT ACCELERATING. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS WHEN BACKING OUT OF GARAGES OR PARKING PLACES. TRYING TO TAKE OFF SLOWING IS NOT POSSIBLE. *KB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADDED COOLANT TO THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE TECHNICIANS WERE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION WHEN THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT WITH THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A NEW TRANSMISSION TO ARRIVE FOR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I PURCHASED A 2006 FORD 500 IN MARCH 2011. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. ON MANY OCCASIONS, PROCEEDING TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPOTS THE CAR ACCELERATES AND LUNGES ON ITS OWN. IT WILL THEN JERK AND GO DEAD ALWAYS STARTS RIGHT BACK, DISPLAYING A WRENCH LIGHT. SEVERAL TIMES WAITING IN DRIVE THROUGH LINES OR AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS THIS HAS HAPPENED. I ALWAYS FEEL AS IF IT IS DANGEROUS TO PULL IT INTO GEAR IF ANYONE OR ANYTHING IS WITHIN 10 FEET OF ME. THEN THERE ARE THE TIME ON THE ROAD WHEN I SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND ALL THEY TELL ME IS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE HARM TO ONE OR MANY PEOPLE. *TT
PURCHASED A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED AND NOTICED THAT WHEN I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE OR REVERSE IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD OR BACKWARD QUITE EXCESSIVELY. CALLED THE DEALER AND TOOK THE CAR IN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MIGHT BE GUMMED UP AND THAT THE BATTERY ALSO FAILED AND COULD CAUSE THAT PROBLEM DUE TO RESETTING EVERYTIME THE CAR STARTS. THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY PLATES AND REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THAT SAME NIGHT THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME THING WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. *TR

THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BOTTLE WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I HAVE A "BUCKING" BEHAVIOR, AFTER TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 2 HRS AT SPEEDS OVER 60MPH (INTERSTATE TRAVEL). THE CAR WOULD LURCH SEVERELY AND HESITATE, THE ENGINE REVVED VERY LOUDLY, AND THE SPEED REDUCED TO 40 MPH, EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR ON THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER DRIVING OFF THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD DO THE SAME THING AT CITY SPEEDS AND HAD LITTLE TO NO ACCELERATION. DEALER SAID THE CODES SHOWED IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND IT WOULD DO THE BUCKING AND LACK OF ACCELERATION AFTER THE PUMP HEATED UP. DEALER SAID THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL FILTER HAD TO BE REPLACED, AND THE INJECTORS FLUSHED. *TR
THE FUEL LINE SEPARATED FROM THE GAS FILTER, WHICH CAUSED GASOLINE TO SPILL EVERYWHERE. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED, AS LEAKING FUEL WAS A HAZED. DEALER REPLACED THE BROKEN FUEL LINE CLIP AT THE FUEL FILTER. *TR
DEAR SIR, MY CAR SURGES WHEN YOU TAKE IT OUT OF PARK WITH THE BRAKE APPLIED AND RELEASE THE BRAKE, IT WILL SURGE EITHER DIRECTION FORWARD OR REVERSE, REVERSE SEEMS TO BE THE MOST FREQUENT, IT DOES NOT SURGE EVERY TIME ABOUT 5 OUT OF 20 TIMES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES PRIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

1, PURCHASED MAY 2006 2, JULY 2007 LETTER FROM FORD EXTENDING WARRANTY ON REAR BRAKES. 3,MAY 2008 FORD REPLACED REAR BRAKES UNDER RECALL # 07N10N. 23,927 MILES ON CAR. 4, REAR BRAKES REPLACED 50,085 MILES 5, THE BRAKES REPLACED UNDER RECALL WERE THE SAME POOR QUALITY AS THEY REPLACED. 6, DEALER OFFERED NO HELP. 7, FORD SAID THAT ALL THEY WILL DO. 8,I FEEL THEY SHOULD REPLACE THE BRAKES WITH BETTER BRAKES THAT THE POOR QUALITY THEY USED ON THE RECALL. *TR
THIS FORD FIVE HUNDRED SURGES OR REVS UP THE ENGINE, IN FORWARD OR REVERSE, WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS, USUALLY INTO PARKING SPACES OR AT RED LIGHTS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE WE HAVE NO WARNING THAT IT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. I HAVE NOTICED IT IS WORSE IF THE A/C IS ON. WE HAVE AVOIDED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BY SLAMMING ON THE BRAKE, IT WILL EVEN CONTINUE TO SURGE IF THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HELD HARD TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE STARTED DOING THIS WITHIN THE FIRST 150 MILES THAT WE OWNED IT. THE INCIDENTS ARE UNPREDICTABLE AND DANGEROUS. *TR

THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THREE SETS OF REAR BRAKE PADS WERE INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO DIM. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE HIMSELF AND NOTICED THAT THE PIG TAIL SOCKET HAD SHORTENED. THE PIG TAIL SOCKET WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
CAR SURGES FORWARD/BACKWARD WHEN ENGAGED IN GEAR FROM DEAD STOP AND BRAKE IS RELEASED WITHOUT HAVING EVEN TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR. SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN HEATING/COOLING FAN IS ON, ESPECIALLY ON RECIRCULATE, AND RPMS WILL SURGE/RACE AT DEAD STOP WITH BRAKE FIRMLY APPLIED WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED TO EITHER SIDE. PROBLEM IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE IN PARKING LOTS OR ANYWHERE IN LOW SPEED STOP/GO DRIVING CONDITIONS. CONCERNED FOR PEDESTRIAN SAFETY AS I HAVE HAD THE CAR JUMP UNEXPECTEDLY AND NEARLY HIT THEM. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND CAR WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE INDICATING ERROR CODES P061B & P2016 WHICH MEANS THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AFTER DRIVING IN DEEP SNOW, EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURE AFTER CAR HAD BEEN SITTING FOR 3 DAYS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS CLEARED BUT THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SURGING ISSUES THOUGH IT DOES SEEM WORSE IN WARMER WEATHER THAN COLD. SO FAR I HAVE NOT REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY THOUGH I INTEND TO AS SOON AS I CAN GET AHOLD OF THE PART. *TR
STARTING SINCE FEBRUARY 2010. MY CAR LUNGES FORWARD WHENEVER AT A DEAD STOP. WHEN SHIFTING TO DRIVE AND REVERSE. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY FOOT ON BRAKE AND EVEN ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WHILE PARKING AND HIT THE WALL. WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND FIRST THEY SAID IT WAS MY ENGINE MOUNT THAT WAS CAUSING IT. THEN WENT AGAIN BECAUSE THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. THEN THEY CLAIMED IT WAS MY AIR FILTER WHICH IS A LIE. I CALLED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS AND ALL THEY CAN DO IS TAKE DOWN WHEN I CALLED AND WHAT IT WAS ABOUT. THEY ARE NO HELP WHAT SO EVER SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THEM EVEN EXISTING IF THEY CANT HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM EACH DEALER IS INDEPENDENT AND THAT THEY CAN ADVISE THAT I GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. I HAVE WASTED A GOOD DEAL OF TIME AND MONEY. LUCKILY I WAS SMART AND BOUGHT THAT PREMIUM EXTENDED WARRANTY. I STILL HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO OVER $400 ON REPAIRS. EACH TIME I WENT I HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE OF $100.00. THE BATTERY I WENT TO SAMS CLUB TO GET BECAUSE THE DEALER WANTED $140 BUT I GOT MINE FOR $75. THEY ADVISED TO GET MY THROTTLE BODY CLEAN AND THAT WAS $95. THEY SAID I NEED TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION FLUSHED WHICH IS ANOTHER LIE. I DIDN'T GET THAT DONE BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE 60,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS AS RED AS CAN BE AND IS STILL GOOD FOR PROBABLY ANOTHER 40,000 MILES. THE POINT IS FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM IT APPARENTLY IS HAPPENING TO TONS OF FOLKS OUT THERE. THEY NEED TO JUST FIX IT BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY THROTTLE BODY CLEANED THE PROBLEM STILL COMES BACK HERE AND THERE. I JUST HOPE THAT NO ONE GETS KILLED AND THEN FORD WILL FINALLY GET THIS RIGHT. I PLAN ON SEEING IF I CAN GET SOME LEGAL HELP AND WILL EXPLORE THAT AVENUE BECAUSE I GET MY OIL CHANGES ALMOST EVER 3500 MILES AND I FOLLOW ALL THE MANUFACTURES SERVICE POLICIES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BOX WAS THE CAUSE FOR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD AND HAS STALLED ON A BUSY STREET. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE THE OWNER WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE REPAIR COULD BE MADE. THE REPAIR HAS NOT YET BEEN MADE. *TR

SEVERE SIDEWALL CRACKING OF CONTINENTAL CT95 TIRES. ISSUE WIDELY REPORTED ONLINE. TIRES AT 60% OF TREAD, 3.5 YEARS SINCE NEW. REMAINDER OF TIRE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. *TR

AS THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AND HIT A SHOPPING CART, WHICH IN TURN THE CART HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BUT NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND EXPERIENCED AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AS THE PADS AND ROTORS HAD WORN OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE EGR VALVE, THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE MASS FLOW AIR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT HE COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE FAILURE WOULD NOT OCCUR AGAIN AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
I OWN A 2006 FORD FIVEHUNDRED. FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, MY CAR HAS LUNGED/SURGED FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE OFFICE ON THREE VARIOUS OCCASIONS TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND ASK FOR A REPAIR. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE PROBLEM. ON SEPT. 27, 2010, AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR SURGED TO 3000 RPM'S AND I WAS SCARED. I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, BUT I THOUGHT AT THAT SPEED, THE BRAKE MAY FAIL. I WAS GOING TO TURN THE CAR OFF, BUT INSTEAD, I TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONER OFF AND THE SURGING WAS REDUCED TO 1000 RPM'S. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHAT IS FORD WAITING FOR? I BOUGHT MY 2006 FORD 500 USED IN 2009 AND ONLY A FEW MONTHS AFTERWARDS I EXPERIENCED "LURCHING" OF THE VEHICLE WHILE I WAS SLOWING ACCELERATING OR REVERSING. THIS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH INTO MY GARAGE AND IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN I AM REVERSING IN A PARKING LOT AS THERE ARE PEDESTRIANS. THIS HAPPENED RANDOMLY FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS WITH NO AFTEREFFECTS. NO LIGHT TURNED ON OR ANYTHING SEEMED TO WRONG OTHER THAN THE RANDOM LURCHING. HOWEVER, 9 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I WAS STOPPED IN DRIVE TO LET MY FAMILY OUT OF MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND THE CAR LURCHED WHILE I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE GEAR IN DRIVE. THE WRENCH LIGHT THEN CAME ON AND THE CAR DROVE ODDLY (SOUNDED WEIRD AND DIDN'T ACCELERATE WELL) AFTER THAT. I EVENTUALLY PARKED IT AND WHEN I RETURNED AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE CAR SOUNDED FINE. THEN 2 MONTHS LATER I STARTED MY CAR AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE CAR SOUND WEIRD AGAIN AND WAS NOT ACCELERATING. I PUT IT INTO DRIVE AND BASICALLY COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I HAVE NOT HAD IT REPAIRED YET AS I AM FIGHTING WITH THEM ABOUT THE WARRANTY I PURCHASED AND TRYING TO FIND THE BEST PRICE AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 FORD FIVEHUNDRED, IT HAS BEEN LUNGING WHEN PUT IN GEAR AND EVEN SOMETIMES JUST AS YOU LET YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS A POWER TRAIN OR OTHER PROBLEM, CAR LURCHES DANGEROUSLY AT LOW SPEEDS, AND WHEN CHANGING GEAR INTO AND OUT OF REVERSE. I HIT A POST PARKING IN AUGUST OF 2010 DUE TO THIS, AND IT'S BEEN GETTING GRADUALLY WORSE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED A BROKEN UPPER MOTOR MOUNT THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE TRANSMISSION. DIDN'T HELP, ALTHOUGH IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD GUESS AT THE TIME. IT HELPS TO KEEP FOOT FIRMLY ON BRAKE WHEN CHANGING GEAR OR HOLDING STILL, WHILE THE CAR TRIES TO LURCH FORWARD (OR BACK) WITH UNPLANNED ACCELERATION. SEEMS TO BE GETTING INCREASINGLY WORSE AND NOW I DON'T FEEL IT'S SAFE TO LET ANYONE ELSE DRIVE IT, LIKE AT VALET PARKING. TAKING IT BACK TO DEALER TOMORROW, BUT WE LET WARRANTY EXPIRE RECENTLY DARN IT. WE GET SO MANY FAKE SPAM WARRANTY-EXPIRING PHONE CALLS THAT I GOT CONFUSED AND DROPPED THE BALL. I OWN A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED, LIMITED EDITION. WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN GEAR, EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, IT LURCHES FORWARD OR BACKWARDS 75% OF THE TIME. I BOUGHT MY CAR USED ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO WITH 71,000 MILES, AND THOUGHT THE LURCHING WAS NORMAL. I TOOK MY CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP, AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TYPE OF TRANSMISSION. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THEIR THEORY WAS FALSE, AND IT TURNS OUT THE THROTTLE BODY GOES BAD AFTER ABOUT 30,000 MILES. THE LURCHING OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY, EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR OVER 30 MINUTES. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT I HAVE NOT INJURED ANYONE WITH THE SUDDEN LURCHING BECAUSE I WORK IN A BUSY DOWNTOWN CITY. SINCE I PARK IN CROWDED LOTS AND GARAGES, I HAVE COME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO HITTING OTHER VEHICLES WHILE I'M SIMPLY PUTTING MY CAR IN PARK. THE PROBLEM WASN'T AS BAD WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR, BUT NOW THAT IT'S GETTING OLDER, I'M REALLY NOTICING THE LURCHING OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. AIR CONDITIONING UNIT STARTED MAKING NOISES LAST YEAR (APPROX. AUGUST). TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE COMPRESSOR WAS GOING. THEY ALSO SAID THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THAT COMPRESSOR THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET ONE UNTIL FEBRUARY. *KB

2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING PREMATURE PAD AND ROTOR WEAR *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND/OR DRAGGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR WHEELS. THE LEFT AND RIGHT WHEELS NEEDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE CONSUMER STATED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE BRAKES IN 2007, BECAUSE FORD KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM. ALSO, THE BLOWER MOTOR BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. THE GASKET BETWEEN THE CRANK SHAFT SUPPORT HOUSING WAS REPLACED. *JB
AFTER STARTING CAR IN GARAGE AND IDLING FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS, I PUT CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF GARAGE. THE ENGINE RPM'S INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY, AND THE CAR SHOT BACKWARDS UNTIL I APPLIED THE BRAKE. THE CAR STOPPED AND ENGINE RPM RETURNED TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE CAR, AND I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A PRIVATE PARTY WITH ABOUT 104,000 MILES ON IT. IN SPEAKING WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER, HE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS THAT HE ATTRIBUTED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEREBY THE VEHICLE SPED UP WITHOUT PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE ORIGINAL OWNER PURCHASED THE CAR FROM GENTRY FORD IN ONTARIO, OR, AND HAD EVERY SERVICE PERFORMED THERE. I, TOO, HAVE RETURNED THE CAR TO GENTRY FORD FOR EVERY SERVICE, BUT HAVE NOT DISCUSSED THIS PROBLEM WITH THEM, THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID TELL THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM HE EXPERIENCED. *TR

THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE VIN WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 74000.
BEFORE JULY 2010 I BEGAN NOTICING THAT MY ENGINE WOULD RACE UP TO 1500 RPM WHILE IDLING. I WOULD ALWAYS KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE SO THE CAR WOULD NOT LURCH FORWARD. THEN ON THE 4TH OF JULY MULTIPLE ENGINE ERRORS APPEARED ON THE CAR COMPUTER. THE FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED A THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. AFTER REPLACEMENT NO PROBLEM UNTIL JUNE 2012. ONCE AGAIN THE ENGINE IS RACING TO 2000 RPM WHILE IDLING AT A STOP. I AM SURE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING WITH SOME FORD PRODUCTS AND WILL SOME DAY OR HAS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT IS NOT A CONSTANT RPM RATE BUT THE RPM GOES FROM 700 TO 2000. *TR
AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVEN FOR 30-45 MIN, THE CAR WAS PARKED WITH MOTOR RUNNING FOR 5-10 MIN. GOT BACK IN CAR, PUT FOOT ON BREAK PEDAL, SHIFTED CAR INTO REVERSE, LIFTED FOOT OFF BREAK PEDAL AND CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED BACKWARDS. SLAMMED BREAKS ON AND CAR SHUT OFF. CAR HAD NO PROBLEM CRANKING RIGHT UP. DID THE SAME THING AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME I HAD IT IN DRIVE. HIT THE BREAKS, CAR DIES AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHILE SITTING IN LINE AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE-THRU AND HAVE ALMOST HIT CARS INFRONT OF ME WHEN I GO TO MOVE UP IN THE LINE. IF YOU TURN THE CAR ALL THE WAY OFF, IT WILL RESET AND NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT DECIDES TO DO IT AGAIN. I SEEM TO BE ABLE TO ELICIT THE PROBLEM BY DRIVING THE CAR FOR 30 OR SO MINUTES, STOPPING AND LETTING THE CAR SIT AND IDLE FOR 5-10 MINUTES. BINGO- IT HAPPENS. FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY ON MY 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED AND I ACTUALLY HAD IT REPLACED IN 2007 AT APPROX 23,000 MILES (I NOW HAVE 69,500 MILES). CAR IS AWD. THANK GOD I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UNTIL 75,000 MILES THAT WILL COVER THIS BUT IT SEEMS THE PART TO FIX IT IS ON BACKORDER AND THEY ARE NOT SURE WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE (THAT IS RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING HOW MUCH I HAVE READ ABOUT "THROTTLE BODY ISSUES" WITH THIS CAR.)
