THE SENSOR ON THE PASSAGE SIDE FRONT DOOR, IS SAYING ( PASSAGE SIDE DOOR AJAR. I TRIED CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES, BUT IT STILL SAYS PASSAGE SIDE DOOR AJAR!
TWICE THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WAS STUCK ON. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR AND WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR AT MY FORD DEALER THIS PAST AUGUST TO THE TUNE OF $ 280.00. BOTH TIMES THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYED ON AND ALSO THE CAR ALARM WOULD START ITSELF. NOW I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT MY BATTERY IS SHOT. I WONDER WHY? I ALSO OWN A 2013 C-MAX PART OF THE LATCH RECALL.
VEHICLE DISPLAYS REAR RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR IS AJAR. THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. DOES NOT MATTER IF VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT ACTIVATE WHEN IN MOTION. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION FOR A LITTLE BIT. INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON RANDOMLY WHILE VEHICLE IS UNATTENDED, EVEN WHEN GARAGED.
DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY DEFECTIVE. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING. RESULTS IN CONSTANT DINGING OF DOOR AJAR ALARM AND DOME LIGHTS ON. SEAT BELTS BECOME UNBUCKLED SPONTANEOUSLY IN MIDDLE BENCH SEAT WHILE IN MOTION. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO OF THEM. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR OUR KIDS.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SENSOR BROKE FROM NORMAL USE AFTER 3 YEARS. THIS PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM LOCKING, AND ALSO DINGS DURING DRIVING.
OUR FORD FLEX SAYS THE RIGHT REAR DOOR IS OPEN EVEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. BECAUSE OF THIS THE DOORS ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED WHILE DRIVING. WE TRY AND REMEMBER TO LOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY BUT ON OCCASION IT CAN BE OVERLOOKED. ON ONE OF THOSE OCCASIONS WE WERE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN MY 3 YEAR OLD SON WHO WAS IN THE BACK SEAT GRABBED THE DOOR HANDLE CAUSING THE DOOR TO FLY OPEN WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS LEADING UP TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE SHOP VISIT, I NOTICED A SOFT GRINDING NOISE (RUBBER ON RUBBER) WHEN TURN THE VEHICLE (ANY DIRECTION), MOST NOTABLE, AT LOW SPEED. ABOUT 10 DAYS BEFORE THE SERVICE SHOP VISIT THE GRINDING NOISE BECAME VERY LOUD, SO LOUD, THAT IT PROMPTED THE SERVICE VISIT. ALSO NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SLIGHTLY STICK AND I HAD TO CONSTANTLY MAKE STEERING CORRECTIONS. THIS WOULD HAPPEN AT ANY SPEED.
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT. THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING WHICH IS DANGEROUS. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FLEX AND THE ENTIRE LATCH ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. WHY ISN'T THIS SAFETY ISSUE BEING DEALT WITH BY FORD? *TR
DOOR AJAR ALARM IS ON WITH DOOR SHUT. WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW DOORS TO LOCK, BEING A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN YOU HAVE CHILDERN. ALSO CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHT TO STAY ON, WHICH IS NOT GOOD ON THE BATTERY.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDS WHEN DOOR CLOSED. THE DASH SHOWS A PICTURE OF THE CAR WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR OPEN. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON, DOOR ALARM CHIMES. THE CAR ELECTRICAL STABILITY SYSTEM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. BEEN HAPPENING FOR DAYS. HAPPENS AS SOON AS I GET IN AND SHUT THE DOOR. TRY SEVERAL TIMES TO CLOSE THE DOOR HARD, SOFTLY, QUICKLY, AND IT STAYS ON MORE AND MORE. NOW THE CAR ALARM SOUNDS A COUPLE TIMES A DAY WHEN CAR IS PARKED AND OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
DOOR AJAR LIGHTS CONTINUOUSLY SHOW ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. MY INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AND IMPAIRS MY VISION AT NIGHT. ALSO BECAUSE THE AJAR WARNINGS ARE ON MY DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. I TRY TO MANUALLY LOCK THEM AND THEY AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK WHILE IM DRIVING. NOT GOOD WHILE I HAVE MY 4 CHILDREN IN THE CAR!
-PASSENGER DOOR, REAR PASSENGER DOOR, AND HATCH DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. -INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON -ALARMS GOES OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT -FAULTY LATCH -IGNITION KEY SWITCH DINGS UNTIL I PUT KEY IN AND TURN KEY BACK AND FORTH AND THEN TAKE OUT AGAIN. *THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD. *IT CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE DOME LIGHTS STAYS ON AND I AM SITTING IN A PUBLIC AREA AT NIGHT. *THE FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL PREVENTS ME FROM RECOGNIZING A REAL DOOR AJAR SITUATION, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. *THE DOORS SOMETIMES MAY OR MAY NOT NOT LOCK, NOR WILL THE TRUNK OPEN SOMETIMES- CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD/POSSIBLE DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN I AM TRYING TO GET MY GROCERIES OUT OF THE TRUNK AT NIGHT. THESE SAME ISSUES HAPPENED TO OUR VEHICLE IN 2013, 2014, 2015, AND NOW AGAIN IN 2016.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK TIRES, TIRE LINE: OPTIMO H426, TIRE SIZE: 255/45R20 N/A, AND DOT NUMBER: 5112POLH0413. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BOTH FRONT TIRES AND THE REAR TIRES WERE MISSING LARGE PIECES OF THE TIRE TREADS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE TIRES TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT ALL FOUR TREADS WERE DISINTEGRATING AND ALL FOUR TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,100 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS ALSO 31,100.
DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON CITY STREET, A MAINTENANCE INDICATOR LIT UP ON THE DASH AND THERE WAS NO POWER (ACCELERATION.) VEHICLE DID NOT SHUT OFF, BUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NO LONGER OPERATE OR REV THE ENGINE. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED OFF. UPON RESTART VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. TURNED AROUND TO HEAD HOME. PULLED OUT FROM SIDE STREET AND IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME. THIS TIME WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS WELL. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC COMING A SEVERE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. AGAIN, TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING RESOLVED (TEMPORARILY) THE ISSUE. IN THE NEXT 3 MILES TO GET HOME, IT OCCURRED 3 MORE TIMES. FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT TO BE A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY, PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED. FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND HAS "COVERED" SOME MODELS, BUT STILL IGNORES THE DANGER.
THE DOOR FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR WENT BAD AND TELLS CAR THAT DOOR IS AJAR. THIS WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY LAST YEAR. NOW YESTERDAY THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SENSOR. THIS WAS QUOTED TO ME AT $700. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A BAD DOOR SENSOR THAT FORD HAS PUT BAD AND FAULTY SENSORS ON. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR .THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN TOWN SAID, "THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD FLEX". THIS DOOR AJAR SENSOR KEEPS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED DRAINING THE BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT. THIS KEEPS THE LIGHTS ON WHEN DRIVING, AND AT NIGHT MAKES IT VERY VERY HARD TO SEE AND DRIVE. THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO FAULTY DOOR SENSORS.
WE HAVE HAD BOTH REAR DOOR LATCHES FAIL. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON, AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF. WE HAVE HAD BOTH REPLACED BY THE DEALER, AT A COST OF APPROX. $500 FOR EACH.
VEHICLE ACTS LIKE THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS AJAR EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW HARD THE DOOR IS SHUT. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO CHIME AS IF DOOR IS OPEN ANYTIME YOUR SPEED IS LESS THAN 5 MILES AN HOUR. IT ALSO POPS UP MESSAGES AND WARNINGS TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN TRAVELING 5MPH OR LESS. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH TOUCH UNLOCK. THIS IS USELESS NOW BECAUSE THE VEHICLE THINKS THE DOOR IS OPENED. THIS IS NOT ONLY AN AGGRAVATION BUT A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS VERY DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE WITH 60,000 MILES ON IT. THIS STARTED WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN IN THE CITY. I TRIED TO OPEN AND RESHUT THE DOOR THINKING MAYBE I HAD NOT CLOSED IT HARD ENOUGH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A WARNING INDICATOR ERRONEOUSLY ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATED BOTH THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WERE UNSECURED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, IS WAS ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE BATTERY CABLE LINE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. UPDATED 01/10/2017*CT CONSUMER STATED BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT PASSENGER DOORS IN BACK DOES NOT CLOSE RIGHT. FOR THE PAST YEAR MY FORD FLEX HAS AN ILLUMINATED WARNING ON THE CLUSTER THAT SAYS THAT MY PASSENGER FRONT DOOR IS NOT CLOSED. THIS RESULTS IN FEATURES OF MY VEHICLE NOT OPERATING ALONG WITH MY INTERIOR LIGHTS COMING ON AND THE THEFT ALARM GOING ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS JUST SITTING. THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY RESULTING IN A NO-START. NOW MY DRIVER'S DOOR ALSO COMES ON AS NOT CLOSED. THE CLUSTER TELLS ME TO TURN THE CAR OFF EACH TIME I BRAKE THE VEHICLE. I CONTACTED FORD LAST YEAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT IS VIRAL ON THE INTERNET. I WAS WAITING FOR THEM TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND MY CAR IS STARTING TO LEAVE ME STRANDED. MY FORD FCSD PERSON THAT I LAST SPOKE TO TOLD ME TO FIX IT ON MY OWN AND KEEP RECEIPTS IN CASE FORD DECIDES TO RECALL. SHE SAID IT WILL BE SAFER TO HAVE IT FIXED. BY NOT ISSUING A RECALL, I AM MAKING THE ASSUMPTION THAT THERE IS NO SAFETY ISSUE DESPITE MY VEHICLE DETECTING AND ANNOUNCING THAT MY DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED. THIS PROBLEM IS AN ISSUE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON OR OFF, STANDING STILL OR MOBILE -- ALWAYS. IT HAPPENS IN HOT AND COLD TEMPS. INFREQUENTLY, VEHICLE DETECTS THE DOOR AS CLOSED. FORD HAS MADE MODIFICATIONS TO THIS DOOR LATCH (PART # CHANGE) AND I AM HOPING THEY DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPAIR THESE VEHICLES. I CURRENTLY HAVE 74000 MILES AND THIS FIRST OCCURRED AT APPROX. 60000 MILES.
2013 FORD FLEX SE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DOOR AJAR SENSOR FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDS EVEN THOUGH THE DOORS ARE CLOSED AND WOULD NOT LOCK. DUE TO THE DOORS NOT LOCKING, THE INTERIOR LIGHT DO NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF. ALL DOORS MUST BE LOCKED MANUALLY. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SOFTWARE AND THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
3 OUT OF THE 4 DOORS ON THE FLEX WILL NOT LOCK, I CALLED FORD AGAIN TODAY AND WAS TOLD WE ARE NOT A PART OF THE 2.4 MILLION CARS RECALLED. MY CHILDREN CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS WHILE WE ARE TRAVELING AND IT IS VERY CONCERNING TO US, FORD SUGGESTED I PAY FOR NEW LOCKS AND IF WE ARE RECALLED THEY WILL REIMBURSE ME.
2013 FORD FLEX DOOR AJAR SWITCH KEEPS DOOR LOCKS FROM LOCKING. WHEN MANUALLY LOCKING DOORS THEY IMMEDIATELY POP BACK UP. ALSO THE DOME LIGHT STAYS LITE, MAKING NIGHT TIME DRIVING DANGEROUS. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.
FUEL LEAKS WHEN FUEL TANK IS FILLED. STRONG SMELL OF FUEL REMAINS DAYS AFTER FILLING TANK. FUEL LEAKS ONTO GARAGE FLOOR
REAR RIGHT SIDE DOOR LATCH AJAR SENSOR MALFUNCTIONING. READS "DOOR AJAR" WITH DOOR CLOSED. INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON. HARD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS ON. DOOR LATCH HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE BY FORD DEALER. PROBLEM HAS RETURNED.
WHEN MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY DRIVER DOOR WOULD SAY DOOR AJAR AND ALL LOCKS WOULD OPEN WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED - THEY FIXED HAD TO FIX DOOR SENSOR NOW MY OTHER DOORS ARE DOING THE SAME AND WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY - THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT AND YOUR DOOR LOCKS OPEN AT A STOP LIGHT ANYONE CAN CARJACK OR JUMP IN YOUR CAR, WILL NOT LET ME KIDS USE MY CAR - THE CAR DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAVE SO MANY FLEX REPAIRS OF THIS SAME ISSUE.
FALSE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR. DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED BUT SENSOR REGULARLY INDICATES IT IS AJAR. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND WHEN IT IS MOVING.
FRONT DRIVER DOOR LATCH SENSOR DEFECTIVE. THIS RESULTS IN THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES; INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON, EVEN WHEN DRIVING; DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED FROM INSIDE THE CAR IF KEYS AREN'T IN IGNITION (DUE TO FEATURE THAT IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT KEYS FROM BEING LOCKED IN THE CAR); ALARM GOES OFF AT RANDOM TIMES; BATTERY DRAINS BECAUSE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL BATTERY-SAVER ALGORITHM TURNS THEM OFF...ALTHOUGH AFTER MANY CYCLES, BATTERY IS DRAINED DOWN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE: A) INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAINING ON MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT; PERSONAL SAFETY RISK SINCE DOORS CAN'T BE LOCKED; DEAD BATTERY RENDERS CAR INOPERABLE.
2013 FORD FLEX DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DOORS ARE SHUT. DRIVER DOOR. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON DURING INITIAL REVERSE OF VEHICLE CAUSING ZERO VISIBILITY OUT REAR OF VEHICLE INCLUDING SIDE MIRRORS AND REAR VIEW MIRROR. MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF NEAR MISSES DUE TO LOSS OF VISIBILITY.
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS TELLING VEHICLE THAT IS NOT SHUTTING , LIGHTS STAY ON DOOR WILL NOT LOCK, THIS HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE LAST MONTH SOMETIMES HAVE TO OPEN AND SHUT UP,TO 15 TIMES TO GET LIGHT TO GO OUT. VEHICLE IS GARAGED KEPT SO THIS IS NOT A HOT OR COLD, RAINING ISSUES HAPPENS IN ALL CLIMATES.
DOOR LATCHES ARE FAILING ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SIMILAR TO AN EXISTING FORD EDGE RECALL. DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND REAR DOORS CAN BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE WHILE IN MOTION.
FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR AJAR WARNINGS ACTIVATE WHEN DOORS ARE COMPLETELY CLOSED, RESULTING IN PROBLEMS WITH AUTO DOOR LOCK FEATURE, INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAINING ON, AND KEYLESS ENTRY PANEL LIGHTS REMAINING ILLUMINATED. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AS WELL AS IN MOTION BOTH IN CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY SITUATIONS.
THE DOORS ARE ALWAYS SAYING THEY ARE AJAR AND THEY ARE NOT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOOK OUT ONE SENSOR ON MY DOOR AND THEN AFTER THAT TWO OTHERS WENT OFF AND NOW THEY CONTINUE TO GO OFF. MY LIGHTS WILL STAY ON FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THEY WILL FINALLY SHUT OFF AND SOMETIMES THEY SHUT OFF TURN BACK ON AND THEN MY ALARM GOES OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT MOST OF THE TIME. I'LL SHUT IT OFF LOCK IT MAKE SURE ALL THE DOORS ARE LOCKED AND THEN I WILL GO BACK OUT AND THE ALARMS ARE GOING BACK OFF. AGAIN ALL THE DOORS ARE SHUT THE CAR'S BEEN SITTING THERE FOR PROBABLY ABOUT 3 TO 4 HOURS AND I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THE LIGHTS KEEP GOING ON AND OFF AFTER A WHILE THE ALARM STARTS GOING OFF. IT IS DRAINING MY BATTERY MY BATTERY IS GOING BAD BECAUSE OF IT I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I NEED THIS FIXED. I WORK AT THE HOSPITAL AND WE HAVE TO PARK OUR CARS A COUPLE MILES AWAY SO IF MY CARS GOING OFF I HAVE NO IDEA THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL TIMES THAT I HAVE HAD TO GET MY CAR BOOSTED BECAUSE MY BATTERY WAS DEAD.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH SENSOR IS FAILING. INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR ON PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT RESET. EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED PROPERLY.
REAR DOOR SENSORS DO NOT CONFIRM THAT THE REAR DOORS ARE CLOSED AND WILL NOT SIGNAL DOORS TO LOCK WHEN VEHICLE IS IN GEAR, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR A DOOR TO BE OPENED INADVERTENTLY WHILE IN MOTION. ALSO RELATED, BECAUSE THE DOORS ARE CONSTANTLY READING AJAR, THE INTERIOR COURTESY LIGHTS WILL COME ON WITH THE DOORS SHUT AND WILL RUN DOWN THE BATTERY. FORD HAS NOT MADE A REPAIR AVAILABLE
DOOR SENSOR WORKING INTERMITTENTLY ON PASSENGER SIDE. ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD OUTSIDE, PASSENGER DOOR IS CLOSED BUT CAR THINKS IT IS OPEN, WILL NOT ALLOW AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING OF DOORS, WHICH REPRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD. DOORS CAN BE LOCKED MANUALLY BUT ALL DOORS REMAIN UNLOCKED OR SPRING UNLOCKED WHEN "DOOR LOCK" SWITCH IS PRESSED.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK. THE MECHANISM THAT RECOGNIZES THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS CLOSED DOESN'T WORK. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED ON AND SUBSEQUENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP OR VERY SLOW SPEED (LIKE A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT) THE ALARM SOUNDS AGAIN (A PINGING SOUND WITH A VISUAL ALERT THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN WITH AN MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK). HOWEVER, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE DOOR IS OPENED AND SHUT, THE ALARM DOESN'T GO OFF. THIS MEANS THAT DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR. WHEN THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK THE DOORS WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR, THE LOCK IMMEDIATELY SNAPS BACK UP BECAUSE OF THE DOOR WARNING. EVEN MANUALLY LOCKING THE DOOR DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE OF THE ALARM. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BOTH WHEN DRIVING BUT ALSO WHEN STATIONARY. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO LOCK MY CAR DOORS IN THE EVENT THERE ARE SAFETY CONCERNS NEARBY SO THAT NO ONE CAN GET INTO THE CAR WHILE WE ARE IN A PARKING LOT OR AT A LIGHT.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON FOR THE DRIVER'S DOOR EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT. ALL TIMES OF DAY, ALL WEATHER. WILL TURN ON WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. WILL PREVENT ELECTRIC START FROM WORKING, WILL PREVENT DOORS FROM LOCKING AUTOMATICALLY, WILL CAUSE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON. WE HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF POSTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM WAS ALREADY NOTED ON OTHER FORD MODELS AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE SAME PROBLEM IS ON THIS CAR. THERE IS A PLASTIC LATCH IN THE DOOR WHICH IS ENABLED WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT BUT BECAUSE THE TOLERANCES ARE OFF ON THE RECEIVING LATCH THE SYSTEM BELIEVES THE DOOR IS OPEN EVEN WHEN IT IS PROPERLY CLOSED. THE DEALERSHIP IS WILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM... FOR $500. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON OTHER FORD MODELS USING THE SAME PARTS. THE RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE ALL CARS WITH THIS SYSTEM.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL STAY ON INTERMITTENTLY EVEN THOUGH THE DIAL IS TURNED TO OFF. IT WILL HAPPEN SOMETIMES RIGHT WHEN I START THE VEHICLE, SOMETIMES THEY WILL ACTIVATE WHEN I USE A TURNSIGNAL OR JUST OUT OF THE BLUE. I CAN USUALLY GET THEM TO STOP BY TURNING THE DIAL ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES BUT LATELY THAT HASN'T WORKED. NOW THAT IT'S GETTING TO SUMMER I'VE HAD TO RESORT TO REMOVING THE FUSE TO MAKE THEM STOP. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER WITH A LIST OF HOW OFTEN THIS HAPPENS BUT THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BUT WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO CHARGE ME $109.00 PER HOUR TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
FIRST FRONT DOOR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAD ISSUES WITH DOOR SENSOR STAYING ON, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. HAD REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE... NOW BOTH REAR DOORS SENSORS ARE MALFUNCTIONING. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND DOORS NOT TO LOCK. THIS SEEMS LIKE A KNOWN ISSUE, SOMETHING FORD SHOULD TAKE CARE OF.

2013 FORD FLEX RIGHT REAR DOOR SHOWS "AJAR" WHEN DOOR IS FIRMLY CLOSED. APPEARS TO BE A SENSOR THAT HAS FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS STOPS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING / ALARM FROM WORKING PROPERLY / INTERIOR AND PUDDLE LIGHTS FROM WORKING PROPERLY. SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2013 MODEL VEHICLES UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
