I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY WIFE'S FORD FOCOUS WINDOWS THE WINDOWS FALL OFF TRACK OR JUST FALL DOWN AND WILL NOT ROLL UP FOR NO REASON. OUT OF 4 WINDOWS RIGHT NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE IS DOWN INTO THE DOOR WILL NOT ROLL UP AND THE PASSENGER REAR IS ALSO THE SAME. THE DRIVERS REAR WINDOW WE ARE AFRAID TO TOUCH IT BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD TO CATCH IT FROM FALLING AND NOW WE HAVE BEEN USING TAPE. THAT IS 3 WINDOWS OUT OF 4 GIVING US PROBLEMS. WE DO NOT WANT TO TRY THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WINDOW. WE ARE HAVING A THOUGH TIME AND IT SEEMS ABNORMAL FOR THE WINDOWS TO GIVE US PROBLEMS
FUEL PUMP FAILURE AT 53,000 MILES.
AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON LOW IMPACT AND SHATTERED WINDSHIELD
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THEY LOCKED UP WHICH CAUSED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE.*JB
IGNITION LOCK SYSTEM FAILED, RENDERING VEHICLE UNUSABLE. *AK
FUEL CUT OFF WHILE TURNING, CAT STALLS IF THERE WAS NO FUEL PRESENT. *AK
WHEN PLACING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION VEHICLE FAILS TO ENGAGE. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE, THEN STALL. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW WOULD STICK IN THE UP OR DOWN POSITION, CAUSING A DISTRACTION TO THE CONSUMER. DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING FUEL PUMP FAILED, CAUSING VEHICLE TO STALL IN TRAFFIC. *AK
WHILE CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS DRIVING VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, SMOKE WAS COMING OUT FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING VENT. DASHBOARD MELTED, AND WINDSHIELD MELTED. *AK
BOTH REAR DOOR LATCHES ARE NOT WORKING. DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. CONSUMER HAS TO USE ROPE TO TIE BOTH DOORS. DEALER NOTIFIED, IT WILL COST $450.00 TO FIX PROBLEM. MY SON CHANGED THE LATCHES AND FOUND THAT THEY WERE HEAVILY CORRODED.
THE KEY COULD NOT BE INSERTED INTO THE IGNITION. THE DEALER STATED THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SWITCH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. IN ADDITION TO NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE, THE POWER WINDOWS COULD NOT BE ROLLED DOWN. *AK *NLM *JB
THERE WAS A SHORT IN ONE OF THE LOCKS ON MY 2000 FORD FOCUS. THIS CAUSED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR TO BE UNABLE TO BE OPENED EITHER MANUALLY OR ELECTRICALLY, FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE FOCUS, AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RESULT IN BEING TRAPPED IN THE CAR IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE MANUAL LOCKS SHOULD AT LEAST BE ABLE TO OVERRIDE THE ELECTRICAL ONES, SO THAT THE DOORS COULD BE OPENED IN CASE OF A SHORT. *AK
IN APROX. 09-2003 MY 2000 FORD FOCUS'S IGNITION CYLINDER LOCKED UP DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFAULT. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I PERSONALLY KNOW OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO.THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND NEW ONES SHOULD BE INSTALLED TO PREVENT STRANDING.*AK
WHEN MERGING ON I87 WITH MY 2000 FORD FOCUS ZTX (52,000 MI) BUCKED / HESITATED SEVERELY WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR DOWN HARD IN AN ATTEMPT TO BRING THE CAR UP TO MERGING SPEED QUICKLY. I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BECAUSE DRIVER BEHIND ME DIDN'T EXPECT MY CAR TO SLOW DOWN SO SUDDENLY. VERY DANGEREOUS SITUATION. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, EVERY TIME WHEN CAR WAS UNDER MODERATE TO HEAVY LOAD, WITH 1/4 TANK OF GAS OR LESS. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD. DEALER FOUND FUEL PUMP (INSIDE OF FUEL TANK) CLOGGED WITH DEBRIS. FUEL TANK WAS FLUSHED AND NEW FUEL PUMP INSTALLED. FUEL TANK SHOULD NOT BE SHEDDING DEBRIS AND FUEL PUMP SHOULD NOT FAIL ON CAR THAT IS ONLY 3 YRS OLD.*AK
3 OF 4 WINDOW REGULATORS ARE BROKEN IN MY 2000 FORD FOCUS - 2 REAR WINDOWS AND DRIVERS WINDOW NO LONGER GO UP AND DOWN. THE WINDOWS FALL INTO THE DOOR. FIRST FAILURE OCCURED 8/02, SECOND 6/03, THIRD 8/03. WINDOWS ARE CURRENTLY TAPED UP, WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE TAPE OBSCURES MY VISION.*AK
FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE JUNE 2003 MY CAR DROVE SLUGGISHLY WITH POOR ACCELERATION AND STALLING. IT WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP IN JUNE. AS I WAS TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHILE TURNING INTO THEIR DRIVEWAY I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS TO BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN. MY CAR SURGED FORWARD AND THE SPEDOMETER SHOT UP TO 140 AND BACK DOWN AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN. PLEASE FILL IN ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *PH
I OWN A 200O FORD FOCUS AND RECENTLY SAW A MEDIA STORY REGARDING FUEL PUMP FAILURES. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE MY CAR FAILED TO ACCELURATE OR STALLED OUT. THE LOCAL FORD DELERSHIP REPORTS I HAVE A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. I BELEIVE THESE SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. *AK

KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO IGNITION, CAR TOWED TO DEALER THEY REPLACED AT COST OF 350+ WOULD NOT COVER UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. *PH
THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL BEARING FAILED CAUSING SMOKE AND ALMOST A FIRE. I HAD THE RECALL DONE AT TRI COUNTY FORD IN MAULDRAUGH KY, AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAD HAPPENED. I WENT TO LES PINKHAM LINCOLN MERCURY AND BOUGHT NEW WHEEL BEARINGS AND HAD MY PERSONAL MECHANIC REPLACE THE BEARING. HE STATED THAT THE BRAKE DRUM AND WHEEL ARE POSSIBLE WARPED AND MIGHT NEED REPLACEING. I ALSO WANT A REFUND ON THE BEARINGS AND LABOR COST FOR THE MECHANIC TO REPLACEMENT OF BEARINGS.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE WILL STALL, AND IT WILL BE HARD FOR CONSUMER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL, THEN CAUGHT ON FIRE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
FUEL GAUGE GIVING INCORRECT READINGS, CAR STALLING ON TIGHT CURVES SUCH AS ON-RAMPS TO PARKWAYS AND INTERSTATES. TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS THE FUEL PUMP. HAD IT REPLACED ON 7/11/03; WITHIN 48 HRS LINES DISCONNECTED FROM PUMP SPILLING FUEL EVERYWHERE. FORD RECONNECTED LINES WHICH HELD FOR 2 WEEKS THEN DISCONNECTED AGAIN. THIS TIME FORD REPLACED THE SECOND PUMP. NOW ITS THE COOLANT SYSTEM THAT IS FAILING, CAR OVERHEATS THEN STALLS. SO FAR NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURED, BUT IT SEEMS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES VEHICLE HAD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF VEHICLE . *AK
REAR PASSENGER DOOR ON THE LEFT SIDE LOCKED AND WILL NOT OPEN, EITHER FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE LOCKS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, AND IT WILL COST IN EXCESS OF 500.00 FOR REPAIRS. *AK THE CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS WORKING WITH THE LEFT REAR DOOR. THE SWITCH HAD COME LOOSE AND THE LEFT DOOR WAS CURRENTLY WORKING. THE RIGHT DOOR WAS STILL FAILING. NO ELECTRICAL POWER SWITCHES WERE WORKING ON THE DOORS. SIX FUSES WERE REPLACED. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WERE STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE DOOR PROBLEM OCCURRED TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. *SC *JB
2000 FORD FOCUS IGNITION LOCKED UP. UNABLE TO TURN KEY IN THE IGNITION, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS THE 4TH OCCURRENCE OF THE SAME PROBLEM. EACH TIME THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. EACH TIME THE CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE THIRD TIME IT WAS DONE THE SERVICE TECH NEGLECTED TO TIGHTEN THE MASTER NUT ON THE STEERING COLUMN (WHICH WAS REPLACED...TOO BADLY WORN FROM REMOVING THE CYLINDER THE PREVIOUS TIMES), AND THE STEERING WHEEL NEARLY CAME OFF IN MY HANDS WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE REPLACED THE CYLINDERS AT NO COST TO ME THUS FAR, BUT HAVING TO GO THRU THIS ABOUT EVERY NINE TO TWELVE MONTHS IS QUITE ANNOYING, NOT TO MENTION EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. THIS TIME I WILL ASK THAT THEY SAVE THE OLD PART AND GIVE IT TO ME. *LA
THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE KEY FAILED TO GO INTO THE IGNITION. DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACED THE IGNITION CYLINDER. ALSO, THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL DID NOT CANCEL ONCE THE TURN WAS COMPLETE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. *AK. THE DOME LIGHT FAILED TO COME WHEN THE DOOR WAS OPENED, THE DEALER REPLACED A BURNED OUT BULB. *JB
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING DOOR WOULD AUTOMATIC LOCK ,AND IT WOULD BE HARD TO UNLOCK THE DOORS TO ENTER OR EXIT THE VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
FORD FOCUS 2000 MODEL STALLS AT STOPLIGHTS. ALSO HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING.
I HAVE A 2000 FORD FOCUS ZX3. EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS. THE DAY I BOUGHT IT, I NOTICED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, TWO MONTHS AFTER THAT, I HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS. SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CAR I HAVE GOTTEN MY BRAKES DONE TWICE. I HAVE HAD THE CAR ABOUT 15 MONTHS NOW. I ALSO HAD MY IGNITION CYLINDER REPLACED, A FUEL FILTER REPLACED, AND NOW MY CAR DIES WHEN I SLOW DOWN. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS MENTIONED IN RECALL 02V288000 CONCERNING BATTERY CABLES. DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED. *AK
THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING STEERING WHEEL HAD A LOT OF PLAY, THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE, WHICH MADE IT HARD TO KEEP VEHICLE IN ITS LANE UPON MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. ALSO, WHEN MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS VEHICLE MADE A SQUEAKING NOISE. CONTACTED THE DEALER ALONG WITH THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
FOR THE PAST MONTH OR SO MY CAR, FORD FOCUS, HAS BEEN HESITATING AND ALMOST STALLING WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR IN TRAFFIC. IT ALSO HESITATES ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOPPED POSITION OR WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. *JB
HAS BEEN TO SHOP FOR 26 DAYS IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS. REPEATED FAILURE OF CLUTCH (MANUAL TRANSMISSION), FAILURE OF BRAKE PADS, RESULTING IN MINOR CRASH. HAVE HAD TO HAD BALL JOINTS REPLACED. CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISCONNECTED FROM ACCERATOR/BRAKE. KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO IGNITION AND RESULTED IN KEY IGNITION SWITCH HAVING TO BE REPLACED. NUMEROUS RECALLS AND TRIPS TO SHOP SINCE BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2003*AK
I OWN A 2000 FORD FOCUS STZ. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FOR MY WIFE AND KIDS. THE FIRST INCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE WAS BACK IN I THINK MARCH. THE IGNITION FROZE, LEAVING MY WIFE STRANDED AT WORK AND THE KIDS AT THE BABYSITTER. SHE HAD TO FIND A RIDE TO THE BABYSITTER AND THEN HOME. SHE THEN HAD TO CALL A TOW COMPANY AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO SKYLINE FORD IN SALEM OREGON. SHE WAS TOLD THAT THERE HAVE BEEN QUIET A FEW FOCUS WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE SERVICE TECH KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. WE WERE 100 MILES OVER THE FACTORY WARRANTY!! WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE FAULTY PART. THE NEXT PROBLEM WAS IN THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST. WE WENT TO GET ICE CREAM. THE CAR STALLED AS WE WERE LEAVING THE ICE CREAM STORE. THE CAR WOULD NOT START. IT FINALLY STARTED AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WE WERE ONLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES FROM HOME. ALL THE WAY HOME THE CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS. UPON ARRIVING HOME, I OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY CABLE WAS MELTED. WE CALLED SKYLINE, WHO COULD NOT GET US IN UNTIL SATURDAY. IT WAS 3 OR 4 DAYS. NOW WE ARE TOLD THAT WE HAVE TO PAY $120 FOR A FAULTY PART!! THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS CAR FOR FAULTY BATTERY CABLES. WE ARE TOLD THAT IF FORD DECIDES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ACTUAL CABLE, THEN WE WILL BE REFUNDED THE $120. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!! I WISH THAT I HAD NEVER PURCHASED THIS CAR. IT HAS REALLY HURT MY OPINION OF FORD PRODUCTS. *NLM
2002 FOCUS WITH WITH 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND LESS THAN 33,000 HAS A FAILED CLUTCH. WE BELIEVE THIS FAILURE IS DUE TO DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT, WONDER IF IT COULD BE RELATED TO EITHER SERVICE BULLETIN #00B59 OR #14204.*AK VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN A MANNER TO ABUSE THE CLUTCH. ONLY TWO DRIVERS ARE MATURE ADULTS AND BOUGHT THE VEHICLE TO REPLACE A 1990 ESCORT WITH SIMILARE 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 MILES. ESCORT NEVER HAD CLUTCH PROBLEM AND WAS DRIVEN, SINCE NEW BY SAME TWO DRIVERS.
CONSTANT SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. I'VE ALREADY REPLACED THE ROTORS, BRAKES, BRAKE PADS, AND DRUMS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE BUYING THIS FOCUS ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. ALSO MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME ONE DAY IN APRIL OF 2002 THE KEY WOULD NOT FIT INTO THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN FROM ONE DAY TO ANOTHER. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY. THEY SAID THAT THEY NEEDED TO UPDATE THE LOCK CYLINDER. LUCKILY I PURCHASED THE API EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT COVER THE CAR FOR 100,000 MILES. SO THE COST OF THE WORK DONE FOR THIS WAS $427.20. ALL BUT $50.00 OF WHICH WAS MY DEDUCTIBLE WAS COVER BY THIS WARRANTY. THE PROBLEMS DIDN'T STOP HERE. I ALSO HAVE HAD TO GET THE CD SYSTEMS THAT CAME INSTALLED IN THE CAR REPLACED. THE WAS A CONSTANT CLICKING NOISE WITH THE CD PLAYER AND 90% OF THE TIME THE CD'S WOULDN'T EVEN PLAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD REPLACE IT FOR ME BUT THAT IT WOULDN'T BE COVERER BY THE WARRANTY SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF MY POCKET. I ENDED UP HAVING A NEW SYSTEM INSTALLED BUT NOT FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP, I TOOK IT TO CIRCUIT CITY. RECENTLY THIS MONTH JULY 2003, MY CAR HAS BEEN STALING AND SHUTTING OFF AT STOP SIGNALS AND STOP LIGHT ALSO JUST SHUT COMPLETELY OFF ON THE FREEWAY THANK GOD NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM ALSO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD CHECK THE ENGINE LIGHT BUT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $165. 00 JUST FOR THEM TO CHECK THE LIGHT AND IT WOULD BE MORE $$$ TO REPAIR WHAT EVER PROBLEM IT WAS. I WAS FED UP BY THEN. *PH
WHILE SHIFTING THE VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. AND IT IS HARD TO DRIVE PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED AT 27,000 MILES ON MY 2000 FOCUS. THE FORD DEALERSHIP I TAKE MY CAR TO FOR SERVICE SAID THAT REPLACING THE ROTORS ON THIS CAR IS 'NORMAL'. THEY SAID THAT THE ROTORS ARE SOFT AND TEND TO WEAR-OUT FAST AND THAT IS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY SAID THE FORD ESCAPE HAD THIS ISSUE ALSO. I TOOK MY CAR TO LES SCHWAB FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THEY PROVIDE A 2 YEAR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE BRAKES.*AK
FRONT COIL SPRING IS FRACTURED. FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 03M02 ONLY COVERS CARS BUILT THROUGH DECEMBER 1999. MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN MAY 2000. FORD'S COVERAGE DOES NOT EXTEND TO ALL AFFECTED VEHCILES OR FORD HAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH FRONT COIL SPRINGS ON FOCUS. VERY HIGH EFFORTS TO SHIFT IN AND OUT OF 1ST, 3RD AND 5TH GEARS - DIFFICLULT TO SHIFT GEARS RESULTING IN INCREASED TIME AND ATTENTION TO SHIFT GEARS.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING, THEN CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. DEALER DIAGNOSED MELTED BATTERY CABLE AS CAUSE.*AK
MY 2000 FOCUS STALLED OUT SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE SUMMER OF 2002. IT STOPPED WHEN I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY. NO PROBLEMS DURING THE COOLER MONTHS. I TOOK IT IN FOR THE BATTERY CABEL RECALL A FEW MONTHS AGO AND ALL WAS FINE. NOW THAT THE TEMPERATURES ARE HOT AGAIN HERE IN AZ, THE CAR HAS STARTED TO STALL OUT AGAIN. IT TOTALLY DIED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC! AFTER THE STALLING IN TRAFFIC, I HAD TO LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN I GOT IT STARTED ENOUGH TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER. I HAD TO PULL OVER ABOUT 3 MORE TIMES BEFORE I MADE IT HOME. I HAD TO TURN THE A/C OFF OR IT WOULD HAVE STALLED EVEN MORE. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY IF I'M DRIVING IN THE AFTERNOON IN TOWN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS SO FAR!
BATTERY LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AT WILL - NO APPARENT PATTERN - CAR ALSO SHUDDERS AND STALLS WHEN IDLING IN GEAR - DOES THIS ON A DAILY BASIS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY AND HAS DONE THIS SINCE PURCHASE! DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NO REASON FOR THIS WHILE UNDER INITIAL WARRANTY - ON SECOND ATTEMPT TO FIX THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED (UNDER 80,000 WARRANTY) DUE TO 'WRONG CHIP FOR THIS CAR' - WHEN CAR WAS PICKED UP IT WAS RUNNING - AFTER PARKING AT HOME COULD NOT RESTART CAR HAD IT TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND ALL CAR KEYS HAD TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED AT OUR COST 'BECAUSE YOU MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO THEM'! WITHIN 2 DAYS CAR WAS ONCE AGAIN FLASHING IT'S BATTERY LIGHT AND SHUDDERING/STALLING! *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 03V482000 CONCERNING FUEL PUMP FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CONSUMER FELT A HESITATION IN THE ENGINE, AND THEN VEHICLE STALLED. EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT HONOR IT BECAUSE IT WAS A SALVAGED VEHICLE.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE COIL SPRINGS FAILED. UPDATED 05/11/09. *JB
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY, MY 2000 FORD FOCUS SPUTTERED AND LOSS SPEED FOR NO REASON. I WAS UNABLE TO RETURN TO MY ORIGINAL LANE BECAUSE ANOTHER CAR HAD MOVED UP CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE I WAS PASSING. I HAD TO SWERVE ONTO THE OPPOSITE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO AVOID BEING HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC
ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND REQUIRING QUICK, EMERGENCY MANUEVERS TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY. CAUSED BY FAILURE OF FUEL PUMP AND SENDER ASSEMBLY.*AK
