70,000 MILES AND IGNITION LOCK IS BROKEN, DROVE THE CAR IN THE MORNING, WENT OUT IN THE AFTERNOON, PUT KEY IN, WOULDN'T TURN..HAD TO BE TOWED AND REPLACED COSTING ME $250 CAUSE THEY STATE IT'S NOT A COVERED PART UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. ALSO, TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED HE HAS TOWED HUNDREDS OF FORD WITH SAME PROBLEM, SOME EVEN WITH ONLY 400 MILES ON THEM * RIDICULOUS**AK
LOSES POWER ON RIGHT HAND TURNS (ENTERING FREEWAY ESPECIALLY). STALLS WHILE DRIVING. BEGAN AT ABOUT 42000 MILES, WITH A QUARTER TANK OF GAS, SO ALWAYS KEPT THE TANK AT LEAST HALF FULL. THIS WEEK STALLING HAS OCCURRED WITH FULL TANK, TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP GOING UPHILL. AIR CONDITIONER. 95000 MI CURRENTLY. (AVERAGE 3-4K MILES/MO). *AK
FLANGE BRAKAGE ON THE EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY. THE PIPE BREAKS AT THE FLANGE WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE SIDE OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. CAUSEING A SPUTTING SOUND AND EMITTING EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE AUTOMOBILE. IT ALSO CAUSES PROBLEMS WITH (3) SENSORS. I CALLED THE SERVICE AND PARTS DEPARTMENT AT THREE LOCAL DEALERS AND WAS TOLD BY ALL THREE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PART BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL. SO I HAD TO HAVE A NEW ONE INSTALLED WITH A ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON THE PART. BUT IF THIS IS COMMON WHATS TO SAY AFTER A YEAR IT WILL BREAK AGAIN? THE PART IS NOT WELL MADE AS IT'S MADE OUT OF COPPER WITH A SMALL WELD AT THE FLANGE. I HAVE BEEN TO OTHER FOCUS OWNERS GROUP SITES AND FOUND SEVERAL HAD SEEN THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHILE COMING HOME FROM A HOUSE WARMING IN TUCSON, AZ ON 06/21/03 ME, MY 2 NIECES,AND MY DAUGHTER WERE ON THE FAST LANE OF THE FREEWAY COMING OUT OF TUCSON WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER, THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 25 MPH WE HAD TO CROSS 3 LANES TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY WITH OTHER CARS COMING AT 65 TO 70 MPH WE ALMOST GOT HIT ON THE LAST LANE BEFORE EXITING THE FREEWAY. THE CAR THEN SPUTTERED THE REST OF THE WAY OFF THE FREEWAY. AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE WE WERE ABLE TO START IT AGAIN. AND CONTINUE HOME BUT WE USED FRONTAGE RD ALL THE WAY. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE IT ON THE FREEWAY ANYMORE. SOMETIMES IT DOES WANT TO START AT ALL. THE DOOR ON PASSANGER SIDE ALSO DOESN'T UNLOCK WITH POWER BUTTON. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH BATTERY LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT. I FEEL SOMEONE WILL EVENTUALLY BE SERIOULY INJURED UNLESS THEY FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG HERE.
NOV 2002 TOOK TO DEALER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM, TOLD THEM IT WAS SLUGGISH AND GAS GUAGE DIDN'T ALWAYS REGISTER. I THOUGHT AT THAT TIME IT WAS MAYBE THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD NOTHING WRONG, COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. TOOK TO NEIGHBORHOOD DEALER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM REPLACED FUEL FILTER. HAD ALL THIS WORK BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN FEB 2003. NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT POSSIBLE FUEL PUMP. JUNE 27TH STARTED CAR AND ENGINE DIED. IT THEN WOULDN'T START AGAIN FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. I TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD FORD DEALERSHIP. WHO TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND STRONGLY SUGGEST NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL REPAIR. SO THE CAR WAS LEFT THERE FOR REPAIRS. AFTER LISTEN TO THE SERVICE PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP, IT CAME TO MY ATTENTION THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. I STARTED TO INVESIGATE THIS MYSELF AND FIND 67 CASES LISTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. THE COMMON STATEMENT WAS THAT THE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING VEHICLE DIES OUT. ON CAR HITTING A PARK VEHICLE AND SEVERAL NEAR MISSES ON THE HIGHWAY. 2000 FORD FOCUS ENGINE SPUTTERS AND THEN STALLS AT HIGH SPEEDS. MY CONCERN IS THAT I HAVE HEARD AND READ HUNDRED IF NOT THOUSANDS OF THESE FUEL PUMP FAILURES AND AFTER MANY NICE BUT INEFFECTIVE ANSWERS FROM FORD I FEEL THAT SOMEONE WILL BE INJURED SERIOUSLY OR DIE TO THESE FAULTY AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS FUEL SYSTEMS. MY DEALERSHIP PREVIOUSLY WORKED ON THIS TELLING ME FUEL FILTER AND I FEEL KNOW WELL IT WAS MORE AND LIKE THE FUEL PUMP. IT SEEM THAT THE GAS GUAGE NOT REGISTERING IS A CLEAR SIGN OF PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL PUMP.
HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH MY FOCUS THE BRAKES WORE DOWN WHILE I WAS ON VACATION AND I WAS STUCK DRIVING FOR A BIT ON METAL TO METAL....WHICH RUINED MY ROTOR.....THEN THE BATTERY AFTER ALMOST 3YRS. HAS CAUSED MY CAR TO NOT WANT TO START TWICE......EACH TIME I HAVE HAD TO CLEAN OFF THE BUILT UP ACID ON THE BATTERY SO THAT A CLEAN CONNECTION CAN BE MADE.....THE PAINT KEEPS ON CHIPPING, MY ANTEENA HAS BECOME FRAYED, JUST RECENTLY MY CAR'S STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME AND THE KEY WOULDN'T TURN IN THE IGNITION......IT IS IN THE SHOP AS I WRITE THIS.....AND FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CYLINDER.......THE CAR SEEMS TO BE SLUGISH WHEN ON THE INERSTATE.......THE FOCUS IS A DANGEROUS CAR AND FORD CO. I DRIVE A 200O FORD FOCUS LX. I HAVE HAD IT STALL OUT SEVERAL TIMES ON ME UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE ME LEAVING IT OUT OF GEAR OR SOMETHING, BUT THEN I READ A ARTICLE IN THE NEWSPAPER STATING THAT FORD FOCUS'S HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PORBLEM? I DONT REMEBER WHERE I WAS THE ARTICLE BUT I WISH THAT I DID... I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL RELATED ARTICLES ABOUT FORD CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS, BUT MINE WAS NOT LISTED. THE FACTORY POWER ENTRY REMOTE FAILED TO OPEN THE DOORS AND THE TRUNK. THE BATTERIES HAVE BEEN CHANGED BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. THE DEALERSHIP FEELS THAT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO A FAILURE IN THE FUSE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE FUSE. THE FUSE SHOULD BE LOCATED BEHIND THE MAIN FUSE IN THE VEHICLE PER THE OWNER'S MANUAL. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM *MR
2000 FORD FOCUS.CAR LOSES POWER DURING RIGHT HAND TURN WHEN FUEL IN TANK IS LESS THAT 3/8 FULL. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS ON MOUNTAIN ROAD. ODOMETER = ABOUT 25K MILE CAR ALMOST REAR ENDED. DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP. SECOND OCCURRENCE SAME SYMPTOM AS ABOVE. (ODOMETER = ABOUT 52K MILE) USUALLY OCCURS DURING RIGHT HAND TURN. BREATHTAKING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP.
THE IGNITION KEY WAS DIFFICULT TO PLACE INTO THE IGNITION CYLINDER. ONCE PLACED INSIDE, THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL, IT WAS LOCKED UP IN PLACE. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED OVER 7300 HITS ON "FORD FOCUS AND IGNITION PROBLEMS". THE COST OF TOW AND REPAIR WAS $350.*AK
BOUGHT VEHICLE WITH A BAD FUEL PUMP. DEALER REPLACED IT IN JULY 2003. STEERING COLUMN WOULD NOT WORK, AND DEALER REPLACED IT ON MARCH 19 2205. MIDDLE OF APRIL 2005 STEERING COLUMN FAILED AGAIN. WILL NOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO , THE HATCHBACK DOOR LATCHES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY *AK
FAULTY FUEL PUMP, MADE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SELLING DEALER ON 07-18-03 REF SPLITTING COST OF REPAIR AS THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT ON THE 2000 AND 2001 MODEL YEAR FORD FOCUS. AS OF THIS DATE HAVE NOT HAD ANY RESPONSE FROM EITHER. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER THAT EFFECTED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE PUMP STATED THAT THE NEW PUMP THEY INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE WAS A MUCH UPGRADED PART FROM THE ORIGINAL. THERE FORE I CONTEND THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS WELL AWARE THAT THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE PART INSTALLED ON THE ABOVE MODEL YEARS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THESE MODEL YEARS FOR THIS DEFECT AS THE FUEL PUMP FAILURE COULD CAUSE A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $385.42 COMPLAINANT IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT OF ALL -OR- 80% OF REPAIR COST AS HAS BEEN DONE FOR OTHER CONSUMERS. PROBLEM STARTED UNDER WARRANTY BUT, DID NOT BECOME SEVERE UNTIL VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY COVERAGE. *AK
FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM, POSSIBLY VAPOR LOCK/FUEL PUMP RELATED (A COMMON $450-$600 REPAIR WAY TOO EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE 2000 & 2001 FORD FOCUS ACCORDING TO ANECDOTAL E-MAIL EVIDENCE ON INTERNET CHAT SITES), BUT EQUALLY LIKELY TO BE RELATED TO EA02-022. 1ST SYMPTOM WAS LOSS OF POWER UPON SHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR. SPEED THERE WAS ACCELERATION FROM 12 MPH UP INTO 2ND GEAR. THE CAR RECOVERED AFTER A NEAR STALL WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC APPROACHING. 2ND INCIDENT WAS THE NEXT DAY (TODAY) WHERE I WAS SHIFTING FROM AROUND 25 MPH INTO THIRD GEAR IN MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE STALLED. FORTUNATELY I WAS ALBE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, WHEREUPON THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN ANY GEAR/WAS COMPLETELY ASTHMATIC. AFTER TWO MINUTES IN PLACE THE VEHICLE RECOVERED AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED. THE MECHANIC WANTS TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL FILTER, FUEL FILTER HOSE AND FUEL RETURN LINE....BUT IF THE PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC TO THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM PRIOR TO THE FUEL PUMP PURSUANT TO THE REFERENCED STUDY, THEN A NEW PUMP WILL BE ABLE TO DRAW FUEL BETTER/SERVE AS A TEMPORARY FIX. BUT, LIKE THE ORIGINAL, IT TOO WILL FAIL EARLY DUE TO THE HIGHER DEMAND ON DRAWING THE FUEL THROUGH THE BLOCKAGE. THE TANK WAS APPROX. 1/4 FULL AT THE TIME OF BOTH INCIDENTS. *AK

FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AND IT ALSO MADE THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE TO GO OUT AS WELL. ALSO THERE IS A LOOSE CONNECTION AT THE FUSE JUNCTION BOX IN THE ENGINE BAY.*AK
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CUTS OUT WHILE ACCELERATING TO 2ND GEAR, ESPECIALLY AT FULL THROTTLE. IN THE MIDDLE OF 2ND GEAR, RPMS HANG AROUND 4000 AT FULL THROTTLE. LETTING OFF THROTTLE ALLOWS RPMS TO REACH 5700 AND VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO 3RD. RPMS HANG AGAIN AT 4000 IN 3RD GEAR, AND ANY MANIPULATION OF THROTTLE (FULL, HALF, ETC.) DOES NOT RAISE RPMS. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BE LIMITED TO APPROX 60 MPH.*AK
THE REAR SEAT BELT IS SO SHORT IT CAN NOT BE USED. IT WILL LOCK IN CHILD SAFETY MODE WHEN SEAT IS LAID FLAT AND WILL NOT RELEASE. I HAD TO UNBOLT THE SEAT BELT TO RAISE THE SEAT UP. *NM
2000 FORD FOCUS. BOUGHT AT SANGER FORD OUTLET NEW. PROBLEM: CABLE AND WIRING FRAYED. RESULT: AAA CALLED. DEAD BATTERY. TOWED. INCONVENIENCE. *PH
THE ROTORS AND BRAKES HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED BEFORE 35,000. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. WE TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING NOISE FOR BRAKE PADS. THE CALLED AND TOLD USE THE ROTORS WERE DAMAGED. THIS IS TOOK SOON TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED. *AK
IGNITION KEY DOES NOT TURN. WITH ONLY 55144 MILES THE IGNITION KEY SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. DEALER STATED THEY HAVE SEVERAL CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM SO IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART. I FEEL THE DEALER SHOULD PAY FOR THIS TYPE OF REPAIRS, THERE ARE AT LEAST 50 OTHER CONSUMERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM RIGHT ON THIS SITE. PLEASE CONDUCT AND INVESTIGATION AS SOON AS POSIBLE, SOONER OR LATER SOMEONE WILL BE INJURED AS A RESULT OF THIS FAULTY IGNITION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35MPH VEHICLE STALLED. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT PROBLEM. *AK
AFTER DRIVING TO WORK AND PARKING IN THE PARKING GARAGE, WENT INSIDE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. CAME BACK OUT TO CAR TO FIND A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE WHICH HAD LEAKED FROM THE FUEL TANK. A VERY DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS EXTREMELY HOT AND FUEL HAD LEAKED ALL OVER IT. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICKE TOWED TO THE REPAIR GARAGE.. THE PROBLEM ENDED UP BEING THAT THE CHEAP PLASTIC FUEL LINE QUICK-CONNECTOR COMING FROM THE FUEL PUMP TO THE FUEL LINE HAD BROKEN, CAUSING THE FUEL LINE TO COME APART FROM THE FUEL PUMP, ALLOWING FUEL TO SPRAY ALL OVER THE TANK AND EXPOSED PARTS UNDER THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE CONCRETE GARAGE FLOOR. A SPARK OR LIT CIGARETTE BUTT WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. FORTUNATELY A FIRE OR EXPLOSION DID NOT OCCUR OR THEIR SURELY WOULD HAVE BEEN FATALITIES.*AK
2000 FORD FOCUS LX 4-DOOR SEDAN - NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS: 1) CURRENTLY HAVE 75,200 MILES ON CAR AND HAVE GONE THROUGH 5 (YES FIVE!) COMPLETE SETS OF TIRES.2) ENGINE STALLS AT ANY SPEED WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATIONS, CAR BUCKS AND GAS PEDAL CAN BE DEPRESSED TO FLOORBOARD AND CAR WILL NOT MOVE - BARELY AVOIDED THREE ACCIDENTS (TWO OF WHICH WOULD HAVE INVOLVED MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN) 3) ALL FOUR DOORS WILL STICK - REALLY NEED TO PULL TO OPEN - AND ONCE OPEN, THEY WILL NOT CLOSE AGAIN (YOU NEED TO TRY TO CLOSE THE DOORS REPEATEDLY BEFORE THEY FINALLY LATCH). THEY ALSO POPPED OPENED WHILE DRIVING. AFRAID ONE DAY ONE OF MY CHILDREN OR A PASSENGER OR MYSELF MAY BE INJURED. THEY ARE MANUAL DOOR LOCKS AND LATCHES. 4) SAME WITH TRUNK - OFTEN NEEDS REPEATED TRIES TO CLOSE AND LATCH 5) LEAK IN FRONT PASSENGER FOOTWELL - WHEN IT RAINS, OR WHEN GOING THROUGH CARWASH 6) FRONT BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE AT MY COST - HORRENDOUS, IRRITATING, EMBARASSING SQUEALING IS INCESSANT - BRAKE DUST ACCUMULATES EVERY DAY! IN SOME INSTANCES, BRAKES NEED TO BE APPLIED VERY FIRMLY TO STOP VEHICLE (AGAIN, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH MY CHILDREN IN CAR). 7) EXTREMELY FOUL SMELL WHEN AIR CONDITIONING USE IS ATTEMPTED. 8) STEREO WAS REPLACED - ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED WOULD NOT WORK AFTER 2 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. 9) PAINT IS FLAKING OFF OF SKIRTS - I WAS INFORMED BY FORD THAT THIS IS "SANDBLASTING" AND THAT I MUST DRIVE ON DIRT ROADS ALL OF THE TIME - I LIVE ON AN ASPHALT STREET, DRIVE ON ASPHALT ROADS AND ASPHALT HIGHWAYS - NOT DIRT! 10) FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ONCE ALREADY - WAS TOLD I MUST BE BUYING "DIRTY" GAS - IF IT IS DIRTY GAS, IS THAT MY FAULT? I DON'T EXACTLY RUN THE GAS STATIONS, AND I DON'T BUY FRO ONE SPECIFIC STATION - I FUEL UP WHEN I'M LOW, WHEREVER IT IS CONVENIENT. 11) I HAVE HAD THREE ALIGNMENTS TO TRY TO STOP THE HORRIBLE SHAKING OF THE CAR - THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES SO BADLY THAT MY ARMS ARE SORE BY THE TIME I GET TO MY DESTINATION. *AK
WENT TO GET INTO MY CAR AFTER WORKING A NIGHT SHIFT AND PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION OF MY CAR. THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PAID TO HAVE THE IGNITION DRILLED OUT AND REPLACED. ALMOST EXACTLY A YEAR LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE IGNITION. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCKSMITH AND PAID HIM TO REPLACE THE IGNITION. HAVE HEARD OF A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS!!! *NM
ON 7/5/2003 WHILE DRIVING AT 85 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM LAST YEAR ,AND THE FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 7/8/2003. *AK
THE OWNER WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS FROM THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES. *AK THE ENTIRE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. THE REAR DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS UNABLE TO BE UNLOCKED OR OPENED FROM EITHER THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR BECAME JAMMED. THE LOCK(S) WERE ALL REPLACED AND FAILED TWICE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE AUTOMATIC WINDOW'S WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. *SCC *JB

A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE RIGHT FRONT SPRING COIL WAS SITTING ON TOP OF MY TIRE. THIS IS OF COURSE RELATED TO A RECENT RECALL (THE TENTH ONE I'VE RECEIVED). I'M OUTRAGED THAT FORD ISN'T REQUIRING FOCUS OWNERS TO HAVE THEIR COILS CHECKED. THERE WAS NO SHIFT IN SUSPENSION OR NOISE WITH MY VEHICLE. SUDDENLY, IT JUST BECAME VERY, VERY UNDRIVEABLE. THE FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2000 FORD FOCUS HAVE MADE A SQUEEKING AND GRINDING NOISE INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THE SECOND OR THIRD DAY AFTER I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME THEY SANDED THE BREAK PADS AND THAT WOULD REDUCE THE NOISE AND THAT IT WAS NORMAL. OF COURSE, THAT DIDN'T HELP. AT 22,000 MILES I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE ROTORS AND PADS. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT THE ROTORS AND SHOES WERE WARPED FROM THE HEAT OF APPLYING THE BREAKS AND THERE WAS STILL PLENTY OF LIFE IN THE BREAK PADS. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED, CONTACTED THE PRIOR OWNER, THEY SAID THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO THEM WITH THE CAR AROUND 15,000-16,000 MILES AGO AND THEY HAD THE IGNITION CYLINDER REPLACED AT THAT TIME AND THAT THEY WERE TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS AN "IMPROVED" CYLINDER AND THAT IT SHOULD NOT GO BAD AGAIN. AT 40,000 MILES ON MY 2000 FOCUS WAGON, DEALER TELLS ME THAT THE CLUNKING NOISE I HEAR FROM FRONT AND REAR WILL BE FIXED WITH A NEW FRONT TIE ROD AND REAR SHOCKS. VISITED DEALER 3 TIMES TO FIX A WINDSHIELD WASHER LEAK INTO TAILGATE, FILLING LIGHT FIXTURES AND SEEPING INTO REAR OF CAR. I HAVE HAD MY FAN MOTOR REPLACED AND MY REAR DOOR LATCHES ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. ALL OF MANY RECALLS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED, WE EVEN RECEIVED 4 NEW TIRES DUE TO TREAD WEARING. THEY INDICATED THAT IS NOT COVERED AND THEY SUGGESTED FOR ME TO APPLY FOR A LINE OF CREDIT TO SEE IF I WAS APPROVED TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
