THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO HONOR THE RECALL FOR THE PINCH BOLT 02 V 289 000 DUE TO A DISCREPANCY. *JB THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO VIBRATE AND THE WHEEL SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE RECALL, BUT THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WHICH WAS WITH THE OIL. *SCC
WHILE DRIVING, THE TRUNK OPENED BY ITSELF, BECAUSE THE LOCK NO LONGER WORKED. *JB
ENGINE STALLS OR SHUDDERS WHEN FUEL LEVEL REACHES A QUARTER OF A TANK. *NLM
IN APRIL OF 2003, I WENT OUTSIDE TO START MY CAR, THE KEY WENT INTO THE IGNITION AND THE CHIMES SOUNDED (INDICATING ELECTRICAL CONNECTION/ACTIVITY); HOWEVER, MY KEY WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH. I AM BEING CHARGED $273.00 FOR THE PROBLEM, THAT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. IF THERE IS EVER A RECALL OR ANY LEGAL JUSTIFICATION WITH THE "LEMON" PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND HEARD A LOUD "POP" FROM THE FRONT WHEEL AREA. WITHOUT WARNING, THE CONSUMER LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED, WHICH CAUSED SEVERE INJURIES FOR SOME PASSENGERS. INSPECTION REVEALED THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE HAD SEPARATED. FUEL SYSTEM FAILS, LOSES OF POWER, AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, VERY DANGEROUS. *AK
FORD FOCUS 2000 SPUTTERS AND LUNGES ON RIGHT HAND TURNS. SOMETIMES STALLING AND DYING. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IF YOUR CAR DIES RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.*AK
KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO IGNITION. CALLED EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE. THEY COULD NOT HELP. THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THEY WERE CONSIDERING A RECALL. WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS REGISTERED AND THE NUMBER OF ISSUES ON THE INTERNET, I AM SURPRISED IT HAS NOT BEEN DONE. IGNITION ALREADY REPLACED ONCE. THIS IS STARTING TO GET TO BE RIDICULOUS. FINALLY TAPPED THE KEY IN THE CAR STARTS BUT THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH RESULTING IN A SECURITY PROBLEM. *JB
CAR STALLS FOR NO REASON - HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY SINCE JANUARY
WHEN I STARTED MY CAR TO GO HOME FROM WORK I STARTED TO SMELL GAS. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTILL I GOT HOME. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF, I LIFTED THE HOOD THINKING THERE WOULD BE A PROBLEM IN THERE. I COULD HERE WHAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING BOILING. THEN I WALKED AROUND THE CAR UNTILL I GOT TO THE GAS TANK. THATS WHERE I COULD REALLY SMELL THE GAS. I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND THERE WAS GAS DRIPPING FROM THE GAS TANK. MY CAR ONLY HAS 24000 MILES ON IT, AND ONLY A MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY. SO I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE THINKING THAT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A CRACK IN THE FUEL LINE. WHAT WAS FOUND OUT IS MY CAR HAS A PLASTIC GAS TANK AND HAS BROKEN AT THE SEAMS. THE BOILING NOISE I HEARD WAS THE GAS SPITTING ON THE EXHAUST. THE MECHANIC SAID I WAS LUCKY THAT THE CAR DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE. SO I CALLED FORD TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO SINCE IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE GAS TANK WAS FAULTY. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTILL I GOT THE CAR TO MY FORD SERVICE STATION. I WILL HAVE TO CALL THEM AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL HAVE TO SAY. I HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR FORDS MISTAKE. HOW CAN THEY EXPECT A PLASTIC GAS TANK TO LAST, WHEN MINE HAS BUSTED AT ONLY 24000 MILES.
IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT TURN. I NOTICED IN RESEARCHING THE INTERNET THAT MANY OTHERS HAD THE SAME FAILURE. I DID NOT SEE A RECALL. THIS IS THE LATEST FAILURE OF MANY: BRAKES, FUEL GAUGE, BAD STRUTS. NOW AT 39000, I AM 3000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. *JB
I HAVE A FORD FOCUS 2000 THAT HAD A STALLING PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE WOULD BE A RECALL (IT WAS ALSO IN THE NEWSPAPER) AND SINCE IT WAS NOT I HAD TO SPEND 500.00 TO GET IT FIXED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS YOU HAVE ABOUT A STALLING ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. I HAVE ALREADY HAD 5 RECALLS ON THIS CAR!! *JB

THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE BATTERY CABLE WIRE. THE VEHICLE BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE WIRE. TWO WEEKS LATER THE WIRE WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME THEN PARKED. TEN MINUTES LATER THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. TOTAL LOSS. *NLM PRIOR TO FIRE THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON AND THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT OCCASIONALLY. *TT
WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND STALLED. THE DEALER HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NLM
THE IGNITION DID NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. *JB THE CONSUMER SUGGESTED THAT WIHOUT ANY WARNING, SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO INSERT THE IGNITION SWITCH. AT LEAST FOUR DEALERSHIPS SAID THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL. THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED STALLING AND ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SC
INAPPROPRIATE DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS-LOW SPEED BUMP CAUSES AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY WITH MASSIVE DAMAGE TO WINDSHIELD AND DASHBOARD, NO BODY DAMAGE. *JB
WHEN VEHICLE FUEL LEVEL GOES BELOW 1/2 TANK, ENGINE BEGINS TO "BUCK" AND LOSE POWER. WHEN FUEL LEVEL GETS TO 1/4 TANK, ENGINE BECOMES VERY SLUGGISH, "OVER REVS", "BUCKS" AND IS SUBJECT TO STALLING AT TIMES OF ACCELERATION(I.E.: EXPRESSWAY RAMP ENTRANCES). HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HAVE HAD IT TO A GENERAL REPAIR FACILITY AND THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM, THOUGH THEY DID EXPERIENCE IT ON SEVERAL TEST DRIVES. CURRENTLY MAKING ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE GAS TANK DROPPED AND THE 2 FILTERS IN THE FUEL SENDING UNIT INSPECTED, AS SUGGESTED IN ODI ID NO. 10023502 ON NHTSA WEBSITE. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN TWO INCCIDENTS THAT COULD WELL HAVE BEEN DEVISTATING ACCIDENTS, DUE TO THE ENGINE STALLING UPON ENTRANCE TO AN EXPRESWAY AND ONCE IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC AT A TURN LIGHT.*AK
FORD FOCUS STALLING AT ANY TIME. HESITATES DURING DRIVING. HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. DEALER CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *NLM
IGNITION CYLINDER SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, CAR HAS 78,000 MILES AND I FEEL THAT THIS IS A POOR DESIGN. COST OF REPAIRS WAS $185.00 AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION KEY AS WELL. I HAVE OLD PART FOR INSPECTION IF NEEDED.
2000 FORD FOCUS ENGINE SPUTTERS AND THEN STALLS AT HIGH SPEEDS. AFTER SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LETTING THE CAR SIT WITH THE ENGINE OFF, YOU CAN START IT UP AND THEN DRIVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AT HIGH SPEED BEFORE THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS. AT LOWER SPEEDS THE PROBLEM IS NOT AS PREVALENT. PINPOINT DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER FIRST PROVIDE THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AS THE PROBLEM. SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER THE NEW MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM (EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS). THIS TIME THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER PROVIDED THE FUEL PUMP AS THE PROBLEM. I NOTICED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM FORD ABOUT THE FUEL PULSE DAMPER, BUT THEY SAY THAT BULLETINS ARE NOT OF ANY ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO BEEN ABLE TO FIND MANY OTHER INSTANCES OF FAULTY FUEL PUMPS IN THE FOCUS THROUGH RANDOM INTERNET OBSERVATION. MY CAR IS APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 6 THOUSAND MILES PAST WARRANTY (MILES ONLY, NOT YEARS) AND I WILL BE SPENDING THE EQUIVALENT OF 4 CAR PAYMENTS TO HAVE THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND THE FUEL PUMP FIXED. ANY INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *JB
THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT JUST HANGS AND DOES NOT RETRACT. THE DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. *NLM
MY 2000 FORD FOCUS HAS MAJOR PROBLEMS FOR A CAR THAT HAS ONLY 57,000 MILES. THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND DIE ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS. THE GAUGES AND ALL OF THE FRONT AND REAR EXTERIOR LIGHTS WILL GO DEAD AND THE CAR WILL JUMP OUT OF GEAR. THE AIR COMPRESSOR FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ALSO SHOT. *JB
KEY WOULD NOT GO ALL THE WAY INTO THE IGNITION. I HAD TO CALL A LOCKSMITH AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FOCUS. *JB
THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A DEFECTIVE MODULE, WHICH CAUSED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. *JB THE ODOMETER/SPEEDOMETER HAD SHUTDOWN, THE TRUNK OPENED, THE KEYLESS ENTRY IS INOPERATIVE AND SOMETIME THE PASSENGER(S) GET STUCK IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FAULTY LOCKS. SPRING/STRUT FAILURE OF LEFT FRONT WHEEL IN DRIVEWAY AT SLOW SPEED (DIDN'T TRAVEL >10 FT..); SPRING OUT OF STRUT HOUSING WITH POINTED EDGE OF BROKEN SPRING ON TOP AND READY TO PUNCTURE TIRE!; HAD THIS OCCURRED DURING EXPECTED TRIP OF THIS DAY ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED WOULD HAVE BEEN MAJOR CATASTROPHIC OR FATAL ACCIDENT!; WHY DID THIS SPRING FAIL AT 35,000 MILES AND VEHICLE NOT EVEN 3 YEARS OLD? SUSPECT FAULTY SPRING METAL FATIGUE; HAVE NOTICED THAT SIMILAR COMPLAINTS OF SAME INCIDENT "ON LEFT SIDE" WHEEL ONLY; WHAT IS GOING ON HERE, FORD? FOR AN OTHERWISE "MORE THAN SATISFIED" EXPERIENCE WITH THIS VEHICLE,IN SPITE OF NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR "SMALL ITEMS" THAT I WAS NOT WORRIED ABOUT GIVEN THE "INITIAL 2000 MODEL" STATUS.....I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED BY THIS APPARENT SPRING/STRUT PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE FATALITIES; THIS WILL SERVE TO DOCUMENT THAT YOU HAVE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS AND NEED TO INVESTIGATE FOR POSSIBLE RECALL. WHY DID THIS SPRING/STRUT FATIGUE AND FAIL AT LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD (35016 MILES) ? *NLM
OUR 2000 FORD FOCUS STALLS. THE FIRST DEALER IT WAS TAKEN TO REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER - APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR EAST OF THAT DEALER THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL OUT AGAIN...THE NEXT DEALER TELLING US THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS ALSO HAPPENED AS FAR BACK AS TWO YEARS AGO. *JB
NHTSA#00-V-303-000 VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE REAR WHEEL HUB RETAINING NUTS CAN LOOSEN AND ALLOW THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AND BRAKE DRUM ASSEMBLY TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER STATES DEALER REPLACED THREE TIMES BUT RECALL REPAIR FAILED. *NLM
KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER WAS BROKEN DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR AND COLD WEATHER. DEALERSHIP REMOVED BROKEN CYLINDER AND INSTALLED NEW IGNITION CYLINDER IN MARCH 2003. PROBLEM HAS RECURRED NOVEMBER 2005. *JB
WHILE IDLING OR ENGAGED, CAR FREQUENTLY/PERIODICALLY SHUDDERS AS IF THE ENGINE WOULD DIE, LOSS OF POWER DURING ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY GRADUAL SURGE, ENGINE LIGHT WOULD FLASH. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER 3 TIMES WITH COMPLAINT OVER 8-9 MOS, SYMPTOMS COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, CODES NOT RECORDED, COULD NOT FIND ISSUE ON COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC. 3-17 CAR STALLED REPEATEDLY, ENGINE LIGHT ON (CONSTANT). CODES RECORDED, DIAGNOSED - CYLINDER HEAD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHEN ASKED WHAT WOULD CAUSE FAILURE, TECH STATED CARBON BUILD-UP. *JB
I NOW HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC THINKS IT IS A FILTER OR SWITCH THAT KEEPS THE OIL LEVEL IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN TURNING RIGHT. MY CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN I MAKE RIGHT TURNS. I HAVE SPENT WAY TOO MUCH MONEY AND STILL OWE ON THIS CAR..FRANKLY I WOULD LIKE TO TURN IT IN! HAS LOT OF REPAIR NEEDS TOO MUCH MONEY. I HAD ALL OF THE RECALL WORK DONE ALSO
I DRIVE 25000 MILES A YEAR TO AND FROM WORK APPROXIMTLY 115 MILES A DAY AND 70% OF THAT IS ON OPEN INTERSTATE HIWAY. STOP AND GO IS LESS THAN 20 MILES A DAY. TIRES COMPLETELY WORE OUT AT 41000 MILES. TIRES STARTED HUMMING AT 10 TO 15000 MILES. I CONSTLY COMPLAINED ABOUT FRONT END AND TIRE NOISE. I PUT A SET OF GOODYEAR AQUATRED TIRES ON AT 41476 MILES. THEY ALSO STARTED HUMMING, SO THE FRONT END WAS LINED UP. THIS DID NOT STOP THE TIRES FROM HUMMING. NOW CAR HAS 80000 MILES, TIRES ARE SCARMING GO DOWN THE ROAD FAST OR SLOW. FRONTEND SUSPENSION HAS BEEN MAKING CLANKING OR THUD TYPE NOISE. JUST RECENTLY TURING LEFT GETING OFF INTERSTATE IT FELLES LIKE THE RIGHT FRONT IS CHANGING GEOMITRY. CAR TURNS LEFT VILENTLY - MUST CORECT STERING. THIS WILL HAPPENS WITHOUT NOTICE. THIS CAR IS EXTMLY DANGERAS. WHEN DRIVEN ON ICE AND SNOW, IT WILL BRAKE LOSE WHEN GOING STARIGHT FOR NO REASON AND START TO SPIN OUT. BRAKES WORE OUT AT 45000 MILES. $400 TO FIX FRONT BRAKES ONLY. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO PUT BRAKES AND TIRES ON A CAR AT LESS THAN 50000 MILES. MORE LIKE 65 TO 75000 MILES.
THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN LOOKED AT THREE TIME BECAUSE OF NOISE AND IT'S BEEN SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES. IT'S IN SERVICE RIGHT NOW AND HAS BEEN THERE FOR TWO WEEKS. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE WORKING ON IT OR IF THEY ARE REPAIRING OTHER THINGS OR WHAT. I HAVEN'T HAD HEAT THROUGHOUT THE COLDEST PART OF THE WINTER. THE SEAT BELTS DON'T WORK AND THE PAINT IS PEELING. THE CAR HAS LOCKED UP NOT LETTING ME START THE ENGINE TWICE, THEN JUST OUT OF THE BLUE IT DECIDED TO START. I TRIED TO TURN IN AND THE CAR DEALER AT FORD SAID HE WOULDN'T TOUCH IT, DIDN'T WANT IT. WE BOUGHT IT AUG. 9 2000-FORD CREDIT, SIMPLE INTEREST 6.5 --FIRST PAYMENT SEPTEMBER $456.99 A MONTH THEY SAY WE OWE TOO MUCH TO TRADE IN ???THIS MADE NO SINCE. NOW I KNOW WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN OUT TO SEA USNAVY FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT I'M A NERVOUS WRECK ABOUT THIS CAR AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THERE HAS BEEN IS SO MANY RECALLS ON THIS CAR I DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE FIXED THEM OR NOT
I PURCHASED A FORD FOCUS IN APRIL 2000. AT THAT TIME I OPTED FOR THE 3 YEAR/36000 COVERAGE. LATER IN THAT YEAR I WAS INVOLVED IN THE REAR WHEEL BEARING RECALL AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR REPAIRS. LAST WEEK MY LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING WENT-AND AS THE MECHANIC SAID "I'M SUPRISED YOUR WHEEL DIDN'T COME OFF". I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE I WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY PROTECTION (VEHICLE HAS 40,000 MILES) I WAS NO LONGER COVERED, AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDED IN TRYING TO OFFER ME EXTENDED COVERAGE FOR MY CAR. I FEEL THAT SINCE THEY "TRIED" TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND DIDN'T -THAT THEY SHOULD STILL BE RESPOSNSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THERE IS NO REASON A WHEEL BEARING SHOULD FAIL AFTER ONLY 40,000-ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAD BETWEEN 12-15,000 MILES ON THE CAR AT THE TIME OF INITIAL RECALL/REPAIR.
THESE ITEMS HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED. (BODY) THE METAL DRESSING AT THE BASE OF THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER SIDE IS WARPED. (PAINT) THE ROOF HAS SEVERAL 2 - 3 INCH CRACKS AND THE HOOD HAS APPROX. 100 1/2 CRACKS ALL IN VARIOUS PLACES.
POWER LOSS, STALLING, BACK FIRING
I HAVE A 2000 FORD FOCUS ZTS AUTOMOBILE WITH APPROXIMATELY 10000 MILES. I JUST HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC LOCK SYSTEM. THE ELECTRIC LOCK DOOR ACTUATOR IN THE RIGHT REAR DOOR FAILED. THE ENTIRE LOCKING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING AND THE RIGHT FORWARD AND LEFT REAR DOORS BOTH LOCKED CLOSED. THE DOORS WERE NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THIS BOTHERS ME BECAUSE I FEEL A POSSIBLE ENTRAPMENT SITUATION COULD RESULT IF THIS OCCURS AS A RESULT OF A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT OR WATER SUBMERGED. MY FAILURE OCCURRED AS I WAS LOADING THE CAR FOR MY TRIP HOME FROM WORK. I MAY HAVE HAD THE RIGHT REAR AND LEFT FRONT DOORS OPEN AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE, WHICH MAY EXPLAIN WHY THEY WERE NOT AFFECTED. NORMALLY, THE DOORS WILL OPEN FROM THE INSIDE EVEN IF LOCKED. THIS FAILURE OVERRIDES THAT SAFETY FEATURE. *JB
MY 2000 FORD FOCUS WITH 45,000 MILES ON IT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING VIOLENT STUMBLING AND HESITATION PROBLEMS AROUND HIGHWAY CORNERS. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR THE PAST 15,000 MILES. FORD WAS UNABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, BUT TALKING WITH OTHERS WHO TOOK SAFETY MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS FOUND THE FUEL PUMPS NOT KEEPING ADEQUATE FUEL FLOW TO THE ENGINE. MY CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW WITH SPECIFIC DIRECTION TO REPLACE THIS AT MY COST. WHEN A CAR VIOLENTLY STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY AROUND A CORNER, IT'S NOT SAFE. PLEASE RECOMMEND TO FORD TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED. *JB
KEY HARD TO INSERT INTO IGNITION AND WILL NOT TURN. CAN NOT START THE CAR. ONLY 37,000 MILES. IF CAR STALLS ON A RAIL ROAD TRACK OR A BUSY INTERSECTION WILL BE DOOMED. THIS IS UNSAFE. *NLM
I HAVE UPON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION HAD MY 2000 FORD FOCUS ZX3 STALL AND OR DIE ON ME. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY ON ON-RAMP AND OFF-RAMP SITUATIONS, MANY TIMES THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AT 40+ MPH THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION, STALLING WITHOUT WARNING WILL ONE DAY GET ME KILLED. JUST AS WELL, I HAD THE CAR AT FORD TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION, THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS STALLING AND STUMBLING, AND WOULD LIKE SOME KIND OF RECALL OR TSB PUT OUT. I THINK FORD SHOULD REPLACE ALL OF OUR FUEL TANKS AND FUEL PUMPS. TO THIS DATE I KNOW OF 5 OTHER FOCUS OWNERS, BOTH SEDAN AND COUPE (ZX3) WHICH I OWN, HAVE HAD THESE SAME PROBLEMS.

AFTER THE RECALL REGARDING THE BATTERY CABLES WAS PERFORMED, THE PROBLEM RECURRED.*JB
NAR 04/07/2003 MR. WHILE DRIVING, THE REAR TIRE DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO A FAILED WHEEL BEARING.. THE AIR CONDITION REPEATEDLY LEAKED WATER IN THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WERE WORN WHICH REQUIRED NEW ROTORS. *JB
