THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT IMPACT. *JB
VEHICLE STALLS AT IRREGULAR INTERVALS, INCLUDING WHEN IDLE OR NEAR IDLE. CRACK IN CYLINDER HEAD CAUSED BUILD-UP OF CARBON. CAR IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 45,000 MILES. HAVE CONTACTED DEALER FOR REPAIRS. *JB
FUEL PUMP ON MY FORD FOCUS WENT OUT TWICE, ONCE AT 38000 MILES, THEN AT 91000 MILES. CAR DIED INTERMITTENTLY ON FREEWAYS, CLIMBING HILLS, AND WOULD SHAKE AT ACCELERATION. VERY FRIGHTENING.*JB
DUE TO THE RECALL REGARDING THE STEERING LINKAGES, CONSUMER STATED THE BALL JOINTS SEPARATED, RECALL # 02 V 289 000.*JB
REAR DOORS WERE VERY DIFFICULT TO CLOSE. IT WOULD TAKE A HALF HOUR TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED AND LATCHED.*AK
FUEL PUMP FAILED IN MY 2000 FORD FOCUS. THE PUMP WENT OUT AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL AND THE POWER STEERING TO GO OFF. I WAS UNABLE TO STEER, AND WAS FORTUNATE THAT THERE WAS A RED LIGHT SO I COULD RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS THE FOURTH TIME THAT HAPPENED. *NLM
CONSUMER RECEIVED POOR SERVICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AS WELL AS FROM FOLLOWING LOCAL FORD DEALERS MORANDE FORD OF BERLIN, CT AND RAY SERAPHIN FORD OF VERNON CT, AND DIFFERENT OPINIONS FROM FORD EMPLOYEES CONCERNING MULTIPLE RECALLS ON A-FRAME/STEREO/WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR/REAR WHEEL BEARINGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND SUDDEN ACCELERATION/LURCHING. *AK
THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED.*JB
THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED, THE DEALER CHARGED THE CONSUMER $350.00 TO REPLACE.*JB

THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, HOWEVER THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*JB
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT. IF PULLED OUT, IT STAYS OUT UNLESS FED BACK IN BY HAND (WHICH MUST BE DONE CONSTANTLY WHILE DRIVING TO KEEP IT TIGHT ON YOUR SHOULDER). I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND MOST OF THE FOCUS' THEY HAVE SOLD HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *NLM

FAULTY FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM. EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TEAR LEADS TO PREMATURE BRAKE AND ROTOR REPLACEMENT TO INSURE SAFE, NORMAL CAR OPERATION.*JB
CAR WILL STALL WHEN ATTEMPTING MODERATE SPEED RIGHT TURN. HIGHWAY ENTRANCE IF GAS TANK IS LESS THAN HALF FULL.*JB
PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT IS BROKEN AT 48,000 MILES. APPEARS THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL, BUT FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE PART WITHOUT CHARGING ME. *JB
2002 FORD FOCUS STARTED MISSING, LOST POWER, ALMOST STALLED; FORTUNATELY I WAS ONLY TWO BLOCKS FROM MY MECHANIC. MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING THE PROCESS. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE -P0300 THROUGH P0304. THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (1-4-13) REQUIRED REBUILDING THE CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY AND REPLACING ALL OF THE VALVES AND RELATED GASKETS. THERE EASILY COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT IF I WERE ON AN INTERSTATE OR IN TRAFFIC. *NLM
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR RECALL REMEDY 02V288000. PRIOR TO RECEIVING NOTICE, CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEALER REGARDING THE FRAYING OF THE BATTERY CABLES. ONCE THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE CAR BACK TO DEALER AND THEY TRIED TO FORCE THE CONSUMER TO FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM FOR REPAIR. *JB
TWICE IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS, MY VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WAITING THERE OVERNIGHT, THE CAR STARTED AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM WITH IT. *JB
I OWN A 2000 FORD FOCUS. I HAD MY IGNITION CYLINDER REPLACED IN JUNE 2002. THEN ON MARCH 2, 2003 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAVE SPENT NEARLY $600 ON THIS PART IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS AND I AM STILL PAYING FOR MY CAR. AN IGNITION SHOULD USUALLY OUT LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE SERVICE I AM RECEIVING FROM FORD AND I KNOW THIS WILL BE A RE-OCCURRING PROBLEM. THEY ALSO HAD TO SHAVE MY KEY A LITTLE TO MAKE IT WORK BUT IT DOES NOT FEEL THE WAY IT USED TO AND IT REALLY BOTHERS ME BECAUSE I KNOW IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. *JB
CAME OUT OF WORK AFTER CLOSING UP AT 9:30 PM. AT FIRST, KEY WOULD ONLY GO INTO IGNITION HALF WAY.AFTER A LITTLE JIGGLING KEY WENT IN THE REST OF THE WAY BUT WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL, AND STEERING WHEEL REMAINED LOCKED. AFTER A HALF HOUR OF TRYNG I GAVE UP AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER(JOHN LANCE FORD - WESTLAKE, OHIO) BECAUSE THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS OPEN TILL MIDNIGHT. ON THE RIDE THERE THE TOWTRUCK DRIVER TOLD ME HE PICK UP SEVERAL FOCUS'S A WEEK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HEARD THE SAME THING FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DEALER. DEALER REPLACED IGNITION TUMBLER AND STEERING COLUMN IGNITION LOCK AT A TOTAL COST OF $331.52 TO ME SINCE IT WAS NOT COVERED. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND WITH FORD SINCE I FEEL THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE COVERED. I HAVE NEVER HEARD A RESPONSE FROM EITHER SINCE. I FEEL THIS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I WAS STRANDED AT NIGHT, BUT I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE AAA AND A CELLPHONE. I FEEL SORRY FOR THOSE THAT DON'T. THIS IS AN UNBELIEVABLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2000 FOCUS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL, AND WE SHOULD ALL BE REIMBURSED.*AK
REAR DOORS FAILED TO STAY CLOSED. DOORS WOULD FLY OPEN WHILE DRIVING, EVEN IF THEY WERE LOCKED. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO TRANSPORT THEIR CHILDREN. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE.*AK CONSUMER LOOKED ON NUMEROUS RECALLS ON VEHICLE BUT DEALER SAID THAT THEY DON'T PERTAIN ON VEHICLE. *LA
THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE.*JB
THE POWER STEERING FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FLIP INTO AN EMBANKMENT. *JB *TS THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL REGARDING THE PINCH BOLTS. *JB
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS W/ MY 2000 FORD FOCUS. THE MOST SEVERE IS THE BRAKES SQUEALING AND WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE FIRST YEAR AND A HALF OF OWNERSHIP AND NEVER STOPPED MAKING NOISE. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS LEAKED FLUID ALL OVER THE BRAKE PADS WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A COPY OF A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR CO. FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP SAYING THE BRAKE NOISE IS NORMAL AND CAN NOT BE FIXED AND IS NOT INDICATIVE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO FIX THESE CARS, THEY ARE NOT SAFE! *JB

CONSUMER WAS INFORMED NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE REGARDING THE PINCH BOLT, RECALL 02 V 289 000.*JB
CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE #02S42 TO REPLACE THE BATTERY WIRE. THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SHE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE.*JB
NAR 04/07/2003 MR. THE CONSUMER STATED WITH 20,000 MILES ON THE TIRES THEY WERE ALREADY BALD. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER ONLY THE REAR TIRES WERE BALD BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT BEEN ROTATED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON THE FRONT, HOWEVER 10,000 MILES LATER THE REAR TIRES WERE BALD, THEY WERE REPLACED AGAIN AND LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THEY WERE BALD AGAIN. THE CONSUMER LEARNED THAT THE PROBLEM WITH TIRES WAS DUE TO A RECALL WITH THE WHEEL BEARINGS WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN REPLACED A LONG TIME AGO. *JB
CAR STALLED FORD FOCUS AND FUEL PUMP REPLACED. SIX MONTHS LATER SMELLED LEAKING FUEL AND PUMP AGAIN WAS REPLACED. THIS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ,IT HASN'T BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. WE WERE INFORMED WE WEREN'T PART OF THE EXTENDED COVERAGE PROGRAM(03N01) AS OUR VIN. NUMBER WASN'T INCLUDED. EVEN THOUGH OUR CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE WAYNE ASS. PLANT AND IS A 2000 FOCUS AND HAS HAD IT FUEL PUMP REPAIRED TWICE ALREADY. WHO'S SIDE ARE YOU ON?OUR SAFETY SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST CONCERN. DO WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL THERE IS A SERIOUS INJURY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *NLM
THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND COLLAPSED OUTWARD, DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE.*JB
THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED 3 TIMES. *JB
THE IGNITION SWITCH LOCKED UP.*JB
WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE, AND AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES, A HOT METAL SMELL APPEARED. *JB THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WASN'T DRIVABLE, DUE TO A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD, AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS STUCK CALIPERS. THE BRAKE PADS AND THE CALIPERS WERE REPLACED, AND THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. (THE HUBCAP HAD BEEN SLIGHTLY MELTED AWAY FROM THE CALIPER) SCC

REPLACED IGNITION LOCK AND CYLINDER TWICE ON A 2000 FORD FOCUS. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED. THE STEERING WHEEL OCCASIONALLY LOCKS. HAVE AROUND 46338 MILES ON THE AUTOMOBILE. THE BILL WAS $215.52. PURCHASED THE AUTOMOBILE FROM TEAM FORD IN TARBORO, NORTH CAROLINA. *NLM
MY 2000 FORD FOCUS HAS UNREASONABLY HIGH WEAR ON THE FRONT BRAKES. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM @ LESS THAN 25,000.00 MILES, TO THE TUNE OF $500.00 ALL PAID BY ME. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE WARRANTY I WAS TOLD THE BRAKE WEAR WAS DUE TO MY DRIVING, BUT I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME CAR. *JB
