NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO ENGINE CODES. 3 OCCUPANTS, A/C ON, 95 DEGREE F OUTSIDE TEMP, 1/2 TANK FUEL. ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BUT COULD NOT DEVELOP POWER TO ACCELERATE. ENGINE CONTINUALLY STALLED. 45 MINUTES LATER AFTER A TOW TO NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP, ENGINE STARTED & RAN NORMALLY. DEALERSHIP TEST DROVE, INSPECTED & PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. FOUND NO CODES, NO PROBLEMS.*AK

BOTH FRONT ROTORS AND PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 32,000 MILES OF WEAR. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK *YH
ELECTRIC SYSTEM WIRING CAUSING LIGHTS/ WINDOWS, AND DOOR LOCKS TO GO OUT. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
2 TIMES MY IGNITION FROZE AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO START THE MOTOR. AND I HAD TO HAVE THE IGNITION REPLACED BOTH TIMES; JULY 16,2002 AND AGAIN ON OCTOBER 13, 2006. *JB
MY CAR STARTED BY LOSING POWER AND THE THE ENGINE WOULD RACE UP IN ANY GEAR. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WOULD DIM ALONG WITH THE RADIO AND THE HEADLIGHTS. THEN ON OCT 31 2002, THE GAGES WENT CRAZY. I PARKED THE CAR AND CALLED FORD AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD RUN A TEST TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE TEST AND I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT AFFORD IT. SINCE THEN I ONLY DRIVE THE CAR TO THE STORE ABOUT 5 MILES FROM MY HOUSE AND BACK. NOW THE ENGINE IS STALLING AGAIN IN ANY GEAR. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I AGAIN ASKED THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD IF THEY COULD RUN THE TEST TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH CAR AGAIN THEY REFUSED. I JUST NOW WROTE A E-MAIL TO FORD. I JUST WANT MY CAR THAT ONLY HAS ABOUT 49000 MILES TO RUN. FORD IS OFFERING A LONGER WARRANTY ON THE NEWER FOCUS WHY NOT OFFER IT TO US THAT OWNER THE PIECE OF JUNK OLDER FOCUS.

THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING WITH LOSS OFF STEERING/VEHICLE CONTROL.*AK
FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS MY 2002 FORD FOCUS SE HAS BEEN RUNNING ROUGH WHEN RPM EXCEED 3500. YESTERDAY THIS PROBLEM BECAME WORSE WHILE I WAS TRAVALING ON I-94 EAST BOUND. WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED OF THE FREEWAY THE CAR BEGAIN TO STALL OUT. IT STAYED RUNNING BUT I COULD NO LONGER PRESS THE GAS PEDAL WITHOUT THE MOTOR WANTING TO STALL. FINALLY AFTER A THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 40MPH I WAS ABLE TO MAKE MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE WHERE POSTED SPEED IS 70MPH. CAR WHERE FRANTICLLY TRYING TO AVOID HITTING ME WHILE I LIMPED MY WAY OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT FOR 15 MINUTES I TRIED RESTARTING AND IT APPEARED TO BE RUNNING BETTER. I GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. HOWEVER THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT EVEN IDEAL AND COMPLETELY STALLED WHILE I WAS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 40MPH. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OTHERS WHO OWN THIS SAME VEHICLE THAT THEY TOO ARE HAVING SIMULAR PROBLEMS. I ALSO READ THAT YOU MAY HAVE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS MATTER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN KEEPING US SAFE AND HOLDING THE MANUFACTOR TO THE STANDARDS THEY SHOULD BE AT. IGNITION SWITCH LOCKED UP , UNABLE TO START VEHICLE, CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR CAME OPEN WITHOUT WARNING, RESULTING IN AN ANIMAL FALLING OUT OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT DOOR LATCH WAS RUSTED AND HAD CRACKED. MANUFACTURER BLAMED CONSUMER BECAUSE SHE LIVED IN AN AREA WHERE SHE FREQUENTLY DRIVES ON DIRT ROADS.*AK
THE PROBLEM WITH MY IGNITION HAPPEN TWICE A YEAR APART. I WAS NOT COMPENSATED FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANT; HOWEVER THE FORD RELATIOIN DEPARTMETN AND THE DEALERSHIP AGREED THAT THIS IS A DEFECT. I WAS COMPENSATED THE A YEAR AGO THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN. I AM REQUESTING THAT I BE REFUNDED THE AMONUT OF 368.65. THIS WAS THE FEE FOR THE REPAIR. I ALSO WANT FOR FORD TO BUY THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THERE ARE MANNY REPORTED DEFECTS.

VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER, AND THEY INFORMED CONSUMER THAT FUEL PUMP INSIDE THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHEN THE VEHICLE TAP ANOTHER CAR FROM BEHIND AT LESS THAN 5MPH. CAUSING INJURES.
VEHICLE WAS GOING 40MPH AND SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER VEHICLE PULLED OVER CONSUMER HEARD A BOOM EXPLOSION NOISE, AND VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE BATTERY/ ALTERNATOR, AND CABLE WIRES WERE BURNED. THE DEALER GAVE NO EXPLANATION TO WHAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *AK

AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED 5 TIMES. CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
PREVIOUS CRASHED WITH $7,000 EXTERIOR FRONT AND REAR DAMAGE - AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY - THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON A ROLL INTO ANOTHER VECHICLE CAUSING NO VEHICLE DAMAGE OTHER THAN THAT CREATED BY THE DEPLOYED AIRBAGS - IE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED AND DRIVER SUSTAINED BURN ON LEFT FOREARM.*AK
FUEL PUMP IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL STALL. VERY UNSAFE WHILE TRAVELLING ON ROADS BECAUSE VEHICLE LOSES SOME CONTROL.*AK FORD REFUSES TO ASSIST WITH THE COST OR WARN OTHER DRIVERS OF THIS VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. THIS FUEL PUMP IS PROBLEMATIC. *JG
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE DEALER IS CHARGING ME FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I ALMOST KILLED MYSELF AND MY GIRLFRIEND ON THE FREEWAY. THE BRAKES STARTING MAKING THIS SUDDEN GRINDING NOISE AND WERE NO LONGER EFFECTIVE, I HAD TO USE THE HAND BRAKE AND ENGINE BRAKE TO GET OUT OF IT WITHOUT HITTING ANYBODY.
THE KEY LOCK CYLINDER WAS REPAIRED AND IT FAILED AGAIN.*AK *JB *TS
THE KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO THE SWITCH, WHEN IT FINALLY DID I WAS UNABLE TO TURN IT- THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID HE'D SEEN SEVERSL OF THESE FOCUS' HAVING THIS PROBLEM- VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER ON SUNDAY- THEY WORKED ON IT MONDAY AND UNTIL 2 PM TUESDAY - CHARGED FULL COST FOR LABOR AND PART- THERE IS QUITE A HISTORY BEING BUILT IN YOUR FILES OF THIS PROBLEM. IN THE PAST THERE WOULD ALMOST NEVER BE A PROBLEM WITH KEYS NOT TURNING IN IGNITION SWITCHES. I WILL ALSO CONTACT FORD ABOUT THIS BUT WANTED TO GET THIS ONTO YOUR LIST FIRST. *AK
SINCE THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR, WE HAVE HAD SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. WE HAVE HAD THE TIRES REPLACED 7 TIMES NOW AND WILL SOON HAVE TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AGAIN DUE TO SEVERE TIRE WEAR. ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN SUSPECT AT ALL TIRE CHANGES AND WARRANTY HAS BEEN VOIDED ON 3 SETS OF TIRES DUE TO MISALIGNMENT. ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN DONE SEVERAL TIMES BY FORD AND BY PRIVATE SHOPS. ALIGNMENT WAS EVEN SET OUT OF SPEC. BY FRIENDSHIP FORD (BRISTOL TN) TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM OF SEVERE TIRE WEAR. TO MY KNOWLEDGE, IF A VEHICLE HAS TO BE SET OUT OF SPEC. TO CORRECT A PROBLEM, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE WERE TOLD HOWEVER, BY RUSTY WALLACE FORD (NEWPORT TN) THAT OUR DRIVING HABITS WERE JUST TOO ROUGH AND THEY PROCEDED TO TELL ME HOW TO DRIVE. I DO NOT RACE THE CAR OR DRIVE LIKE A MANIAC AND SHOULDNT HAVE TO DRIVE 25MPH TO AVOID REPLACING TIRES EVERY 20000 MILES. I HAVE SINCE HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING THAT LOCKED UP ALSO RUINING THE SPINDLE, AND REAR BRAKE PADS DUE TO THE BRAKES ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL LOCKING UP. IT SEEMS SORT OF QUESTIONABLE TO ME THAT I HAVE HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE OUT OF THAT ONE WHEEL, THE SAME ONE THAT WAS RECALLED DUE TO THE SLIGHT PROBLEM OF IT COMING OFF THE CAR. MY MOTHER AND I OWN AN INVENTORY SERVICE AND DRIVE THE CAR AS MANY AS 3000 MILES A MONTH AND SOMETIMES MORE, SO OUR WARRANTY WAS USED UP QUICKLY AND ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS OTHER THAN THE TIRES HAVE COME AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDED. I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SPENDING MONEY TO REPAIR OUR VEHICLE AS I KNOW NOTHING LASTS FOREVER, BUT SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE GLARING AND FORD SEEMS TO BE LOOKING OVER THEM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES TIRES AS I HAVE FOUND THAT I AM BUT ONE OF MANY WITH PROBLEMS WITH THIS FORD PRODUCT. I CANNOT START MY 2000 FORD FOCUS BECAUSE THE IGNITION KEY WILL NOT TURN IN THE STEERING COLUMN - I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT - THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $350 OVER THE PHONE AND SAID TO SAVE THE RECEIPT SINCE THIS MAY BECOME A RECALL - IN THE MEANTIME I AM UNABLE TO USE THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO WORK UNTIL I CAN COME UP WITH AT LEAST $350.*AK
WHILE DRIVING OUT OF TOWN BRAKES FAILED AT 1300 MILES. BRAKES WERE GRINDING, AND CONSUMER HAD TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKES/PADS AND RESURFACE ROTORS.*AK
TRIED TO STOP USING BRAKE PEDAL, BUT LUNGED FORWARD DUE TO GAS PEDAL BEING HIT AT SAME TIME. *AK
WHILE EXITING THE REAR SEAT, THE PASSENGER SEAT BACK RELEASE ASSEMBLY BROKE (PART NUMBER YS426161184AA). WHEN I EXAMINED THE BROKEN PART IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE CLEVIS HAD BROKEN FROM "METAL FATIGUE" FAILURE. I BROUGHT MY FOCUS INTO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY. TO MY SURPRISE, I DISCOVERED THAT ANOTHER FORD FOCUS, SAME YEAR, SAME MODEL, HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE, SUGGESTING THAT THE CASTING / FORGING FOR THAT PART IS FAULTY. THE PARTS DEPARTMENT JUST RECEIVED THE PART TO REPAIR THE OTHER FOCUS. THE DEALERSHIP IS INVESTIGATING, FOR ME, THE MILAGE OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. I WILL UP DATE THIS REPORT WHEN THE MILAGE OF THE OTHER FOCUS IS KNOWN.*AK
ON A FLAT SURFACE AT ANY SPEED VEHICLES WILL STALL ,THEN SHUT OFF. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK

WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING, WATER COLLECTS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE FLOOR. ASIDE FROM A FOUL ODOR DEVELOPING IN THE COMPARTMENT OF THE CAR, I WOULD SUSPECT THAT STANDING WATER IN THE COMPARTMENT WOULD HAVE LONG-TERM NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON THE CARS PERFORMANCE*AM
WHEN THE GAS TANK IS UNDER 1/4 FULL, THE CAR STALLS CONSISTENTLY IN HARD RIGHT TURNS E.G. JUGHANDLES AND ENTRANCE RAMPS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, SINCE THESE TURNS ARE OFTEN ONTO HIGH SPEED HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATES. REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER, WHO NOW WANTS TO FORCE ME TO BUY A NEW FUEL PUMP ON RECOMMENDATION FROM FORD. I HAVE INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE NTSA INVESTIGATION INTO CLOGGED FUEL LINES BEING THE REAL PROBLEM. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL ASAP TO SAVE ME $400!

RAN OVER CURB AIRBAG DEPLOYED BURNING DRIVERS ARM, BREAKING WINDSHIELD, CRACKING DASH TO THE POINT OF NEEDING TO BE REPLACED WHICH WAS NOTED BY REPAIR SHOP TO BE UNUSUAL.*AK
THE CAR HAS STALLED DURING REGULAR DRIVING 2 TIMES NOW. FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO. THAT TIME, IT STARTED ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER. TODAY, IT STALLED AGAIN DURING REGULAR DRIVING. THE CAR WILL NOT START AGAIN THIS TIME.*AK
PURCHASED FORD FOCUS SE IN MAY OF 2002 WITH 13,260 MILES. WE DID NOT BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE WE COULD NOT AFFORD. SOON AFTER BRINGING THE CAR HOME, WE NOTICED THE TIRE WAS VERY WOBBLY, AND THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING--TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD US THESE CARS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR BRAKE NOISE, AS FOR THE TIRE NOTHING IS WRONG-THE SERVICE DEPT. TEST DROVE AND DIDN'T NOTICE A THING. HAVE TAKEN IT IN SEVERAL OTHER TIMES AFTER THAT FOR WOBBLY TIRE-STILL SAME ANSWER NOTHING IS WRONG. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SEVERAL RECALLS. KEY WAS STUCK IN IGNITION AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP-BUT THE NEXT TIME MY TEENAGED DAUGHTER DROVE THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STUCK WHEN SHE WAS TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION-HAD IT TOWED AGAIN, THERE WAS A PIECE OF MATERIAL (FROM THEM FIXING THE IGNITION PROBLEM) THAT WAS STUCK IN THE STEERING COLUMN. OUR LATEST EPISODE WITH THIS CAR IS OUR TRIP FROM WA-VIRGINIA. THE CAR WAS FINE ON THE WAY THERE, EXCEPT FOR THE WOBBLE IN THE TIRE IN WHICH WE HAD THE TIRES ROTATED YET AGAIN. BUT ON OUR WAY BACK WE STARTED EXPERIENCING SPUTTERING AND SURGING OF THE CAR, WE WOULD PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD EVERY 20 MILES (THINKING IT WAS FROM THE HOT WEATHER), WE WOULD GET ANOTHER 20 MILES IN AND SAME THING UNTIL FINALLY WE DROVE THROUGH CHICAGO, IL AND IT WAS WORSE, SO WE PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ON TO AN ON RAMP--WALKED ACROSS THE HIGHWAY TO USE A BUSINESS'S TELEPHONE TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. THEY FOUND US A TOW TRUCK BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT WASN'T A KING CAB, SO OUR INSURANCE CO., CALLED US A CAB. THE TOW TRUCK TOOK US TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER--THE CAR HOWEVER SEEMED TO RUNNING FINE, SO WE DECIDED TO DRIVE SOME MORE. WE GOT ABOUT 15 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND SPUTTERING AGAIN, SO WE CALLED FOR ANOTHER TOW--AND IN THE MEANTIME WE CALLED FIRESTONE, WE DROVE IT THERE, THE SERVICEMAN DROVE THE CAR AND FELT WHAT IT WAS DOING AND SAID HE DIDN'T NEED TO HOOK IT UP TO ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION.
WHILE DRIVING AND WITH NO WARNING THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND IT WILL BE HARD FOR CONSUMER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
