AS A FINAL GESTURE OF GOODWILL, OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP'S CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE OFFERED US A 24 HOUR PERIOD TO CONSIDER A $2,000 TRADE-IN CREDIT TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF A NEW FORD VEHICLE AT 0% FINANCING. THIS WOULD HAVE MORE THAN DOUBLED MY DAUGHTER'S MONTHLY CAR AND INSURANCE PAYMENTS. BECAUSE HER JOB WAS NOT YET A PERMANENT POSITION, SHE WAS NOT IN A POSITION TO TAKE A $4,000 LOSS AND DOUBLE HER MONTHLY PAYMENTS. ONCE THAT OFFER HAD EXPIRED WE WERE MET WITH STONY INDIFFERENCE BY OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP'S CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. AFTER SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS WITH HIM WE CAME AWAY CONVINCED THAT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICIES ARE INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED WITH SEVERAL GOALS IN MIND: 1) TO OFFER ONE'S LOCAL DEALERSHIP AS THE ONLY PATH OF RECOURSE OTHER THAN A NATION-WIDE 1 (800) CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE; 2) TO STAUNCHLY REFUSE TO PROVIDE THE NAMES AND MAILING ADDRESSES OF FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES AT THE LOCAL LEVEL AND/OR REGIONAL LEVEL; AND 3) TO DISCOURAGE MAILINGS TO THE NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (MICHAEL JORDAN) OR CEO (WILLIAM CLAY FORD) WITH COMMENTS SUCH AS "DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, THEY DON'T EVEN OPEN THEIR MAIL." THE END RESULT IS THAT THE CAR OWNER FEELS TOTALLY POWERLESS ONCE THE GOODWILL OF THEIR DEALERSHIP'S IN-HOUSE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE HAS RUN OUT. WHEN COMBINED WITH HOLDING OPEN A 24-HOUR TRADE-IN OFFER TOWARD A MORE EXPENSIVE FORD VEHICLE, THE END RESULT WAS A PSYCHOLOGICALLY OPPRESSIVE HARD-SELL TACTIC.NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
VEHICLE JUMPED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING USED, DEALER HAS YET TO BE CONTACTED, PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
REAR BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE FAILED TO OPERATE AND TO COMMUNICATE TO OTHER DRIVERS VEHICLE WAS SLOWING OR STOPPING. DEALERSHIP HAS NOT EXAMINED VEHICLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF PROBLEM. ALSO, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THA VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL CAMPAIGN 00V411000/WIRING HARNESS DUE TO VIN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
CONSUMER UNABLE TO TURN KEY IN IGNITION SWITCH AS A RESULT OF KEY CYLINDER LOCKING UP. CONTACTED DEALER.REPLACED PARTS 3 TIMES; BUT PROBLEM REOCCURRED. *AK
VEHICLE STALLED OUT, AND CONSUMER LEFT IT WHERE IT WAS. THEN, HE WENT BACK 3 HOURS LATER ONLY TO FIND THAT VEHICLE HAD BURNED UP. HE WAS TOLD BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THAT THERE WAS A VEHICLE FIRE. *AK
IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER WILL NOT TURN. FORD HAS REFUSED TO PAY AS MY 36,000 MILE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I AM GOING TO CONTACT EVERYONE I CAN THINK OF TO TRY TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. I WOULD APPRECIATE BEING CONTACTED IF ANY CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS ARE FILED AGAINST FORD FOR VIOLATION OF LEMON LAWS.
DRIVER RECEIVED SECOND DEGREE CHEMICAL BURNS TO RIGHT ARM AND HAND WHEN THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED.*AK
I HAVE A 2000 FORD FOCUS LX. THE IGNITION CYLINDER "FELL" OR BROKE OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED. THE NET EFFECT IS THAT THE KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO THE IGNITION AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY ON JAN 17, 2002. 19500 MILES APPROXIMATELY. THE NEXT TIME THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED WAS DECEMBER 4, 2002. SAME SYMPTOMS AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED AGAIN. AGAIN UNDER WARRANTY. APPROXIMATELY 33394 MILES. NOW AGAIN NOVEMBER 5, 2003 THE KEY IS HAVING TROUBLE SLIDING IN AND OUT AGAIN. I'M SURE I'LL BE UP FOR ANOTHER IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT AND RE-KEYING SOON.I REALLY FEEL FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND THEN RECALL SO THAT WE CAN HAD RELIABLE IGNITION SWITCHES.*AK THANKS CAROL. *AK

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE.*JB(CLAIM#55-S443-496)
VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS, IN TX AND IN AR AND STILL NOTHING HAS BEEN FIXED. THE SUSPENSION HAD BEEN REPLACED DUE TO BENT STRUTS FAULTY SHOCKS. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN REDONE ON 4 SEPERATE OCCASSIONS AND STILL SQUEAL AND GRIND. THE TRANSMISSION LASTED 6 MONTHS THIS TIME AND IS BEING REPLACED AS I TYPE. THERE IS A WIERD METAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FROM RIGHT SIDE ON ACCELERATION. ALL OF THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. DID HAVE A BURNING SMELL WHICH THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE. EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE FROM THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. WHICH THE DEALERSHIP BLAMES ON AFTERMARKET WIRING. WHICH WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WIND NOISE. THE CAR NOW SWAYS ON THE FREEWAY AS IF THE WIND IS PUSHING THE CAR AROUND WHEN THERE IS NO WIND. EVERYONE THAT WE SPEAK TO CANNOT HELP ME. THE PEOPLE WILL PULL THE CAR UP ON OASIS AND THAT MAKE COMMENTS LIKE "OH MY GOD" AND "I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY FOCUSES WITH THIS MANY PROBLEMS" I WAS A LOYAL FORD PERSON. I OWN NUMEROUS FORDS. INCLUDING A 94 COBRA, 97 EXPEDITION, 86 SVO, 67 GT390, AND NUMEROUS OTHERS AND THIS IS VERY DISCOURAGING. THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED AND ON A RECENT TRIP I HAD TO DO 3 TUNEUPS ON THE CAR JUST TO GET WHERE I WAS GOING. OIL WAS LEAKING INTO THE SPARK PLUG HOLES FROM SOMEWHERE. THE CAR SURGES TO NO END. IT IS JUST UNBELIEVABLE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO VARIOUS DEALERSHIPS AND MECHANIC SHOPS 20+ TIMES AND IS STILL MESSED UP. I AM JUST GLAD I GOT THE 100K MILE WARRANTY. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO BUY ME OUT OF THIS PIECE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO TRADE IT IN. MY GIRLFRIEND IS A FT STUDENT. SO WE ARE SURVIVING ON MY INCOME ALONE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

CAR DIES WHILE IN MOTION. HAD CAR IN SHOP ON NOV 8, 2001 FOR 1 AND 1/2 WEEKS. FUEL PUMP AND FUEL LINE WERE REPLACED. ON JANUARY 13, 2002 THE CAR DIED AGAIN WHILE TURNING ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. *AK
RIGHT WHEEL FEEL OFF WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. DEALER NOTIFED AND STATED THAT FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
AT IDLE THE HEAD LIGHTS, DASH BOARD LIGHTS, AND INTERNAL DOME LIGHT FLICKER WITH CYCLE OF ENGINE. FORD CERTIFIED MECHANIC DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM, NOR A REMEDY TO THE FLICKERING. FLICKERING STILL EXISTS! *LA

IN APRIL OF 2000 THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS ENCOUNTERED WHEN THE CAR LOST ELECTRICAL POWER AND WENT ON AUXILLARY POWER- I WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS FOUND TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE POWER FAILURE - BOTH ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS TO REPORT AS OF YET. SECOND PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED WHILE IDLING I NOTICED THE FAN WAS NOT TURNING ON TO COOL THE ENGINE DOWN- I BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER IN JANUARY OF 2002 WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FAN RELAY SWITCH WHICH WAS REPLACED TO MY SATISFACTION. NO FURTHER PROBLEMS HAVE SURFACED WITH COOLING SYSTEM. THIRDLY AND MOST TROUBLING IS MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I HAD NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING IN EARLY 2002 (JAN) AND HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT IT- THEY TOLD ME THE FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW AND ADDED A QUART AND TEST DROVE - IMMEDIATE AFTERWARDS CHANGED GEARS GREAT - AS TIME WENT ON I NOTICED IT AGAIN- I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER- BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT THE CAR STARTED WORSENING UNTIL COMPLETE TRANSMISIION FAILURE OCCURED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHER IT WAS WORKED ON FOR ABOUT 3-5 DAYS - A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INSTALLED (4/2002). 2000 MILES LATER AND 4 MONTHS SAME PROBLEM SURFACING AGAIN!! I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT IN THE MORNING HOPEFULLY THE PROBLEM WILL BE ADDRESSED. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN- SO FAR I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO ESCAPE INJURY OR DEATH. THERE ARE OVER 60 INCIDENT REPORTS LISTED ON NHTSA 'S WEB SITE FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURES AND I BELIEVE SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER FURTHER. I AM CONSIDERING LEGAL OPTIONS AS WELL AS A SIMPLE YET EFFECTIVE WAY OF VOICING MY OPINIONS THROUGH NEVER PURCHASING A FORD AGAIN!!!
VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN EVERYTIME IT WAS DRIVEN, WHEN DRIVING 30 MPH UP TO 51 MPH. MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 49361. DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, VEHICLE HAS NOT STALLED SINCE.*JB
VEHICLE WOULD STALL AROUND 30 MPH ON A DAILY BASIS, DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP. VEHICLE HAS NOT STALLED SINCE. *AK
THE FOCUS REACHES AROUND 10MPH AND THE ENGINE DIES. THEN IT MAY RUN FOR A FEW MINS AND IT DIES AGAIN AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED OR A LOWER SPEED. THE SPEED HASNT REMAINED CONSTANT IN ITS FAILURES. THE DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING THE PART (IAC) WHAT EVER THAT IS. BUT I SAW THE OTHER RECALLS WITH FORD AND WAS WORRIED IT MAY BE RELATED.*AK
I HAVE A 2000 FORD FOCUS SEDAN. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE "STALLING" PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE SO RAMPANT WITH ALL FOCUSES. MINE BEGAN TO STALL AT WHEN AT A FULL STOP. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A NEWLY DESIGNED HEAD TO FIX THE PROBLEM. BUT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY LESS THAN A MONTH. MY 2000 FORD FOCUS WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF THE LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING. BUT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. MY CAR BROKE DOWN ON FRIDAY JAN4 TH WHEN I GOT IT TO THE FORD MECHANIC HE SSAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING, WHICH IS THE EXACT SAME PART OTHER FOCUS ARE BEING RECALLED FOR. THE MECHAINC ALSO TOLD ME WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED WITH THE TIRE COMING OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I FELT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CALLED FORD THEY SAID SINCE MY CAR WASN'T ON THE RECALL LISTS THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO EVEN THOUGH THE PART THAT BROKE IS THE SAME PART THAT WAS RECALLED ON OTHER FOCUS AND MY CAR ONLY HAS 42212 MILES ON IT AND BEARINGS SHOULD NOT BREAK DOWN THAT SOON. SO I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE DELT WITH *AK
LEFT/REAR WHEEL IS CAUSING VIBRATIONS IN THE VEHICLE DURING OPERATION AT ANY SPEED. RECALL CAMPAIGN 00V303000 REPAIRS WERE PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED ON NOVEMBER 2, 2000. DEALERSHIP HAS NOT REEXAMINED VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
TRANSMISSION CHANGES WHILE DRIVING. TRANSMISSION SLIPS, IT FEELS AS IF CONSUMER WAS DRIVING A MANUAL . SHE HAS HAD OVERDRIVE TO PAUSE ON HER AS IF SHE HAD STEPPED ON BRAKES. *AK
THREE OF THE WINDOWS FROM MY VEHICLE FELL. THE WINDOWS FELL IN THREE SEPERATE INCIDENTS. FIRST THE REAR PASSENGER WIDOW FELL AND ALMOST BROKE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THE GLASS TO BREAK IN MY TWO-YEAR-OLD SON'S FACE. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL, HITTING ME IN MY LEFT MIDDLE FINGER. LASTLY ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL WITH NO INCIDENT. I ONLY HAVE ONE WORKING WINDOW AND I AM AFFRAID THAT IF I HAVE A PASSENGER, THE WINDOW MIGHT BREAK AND CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE. AT THIS MOMENT I HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE WINDOWS, BUT I WAS LOOKING FOR A RECALL FROM FORD. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. VEHICLE: 200 FORD FOCUS.
DURING A 35 MPH COLLISION THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND EXPELLED GASES/POWDER BURNED MY RIGHT FOREARM. I'LL HAVE A CHEMICAL BURN SCAR FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.*AK

POWER LOCKS LOCK WHEN YOU PRESS THE UP WINDOW KEYS AND SOMETIMES JUST ON THIER OWN WHEN THE CAR IS IN IDLE. THIS IS NOT COUNTING THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR TO DRIVE AFTER START UP. DT
VEHICLE HAS STALLED 3-4 TIMES AT 10-20 MPH AND 45 -50 MPH. DEALER CANNOT FIND CAUSE OF PROBLEM. *AK
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE WITHIN 26,000 MILES OF WEAR. PROBLEM WOULD CAUSES VEHICLE TO VIBRATE SEVERELY WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. DEALER NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
THE ACCELORATOR CABLE STUCK ON THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE RPM'S TO INCREASE AND THE VEHICLE NOT TO STOP. BECAUSE OF VERY CAREFUL DRIVING, NO ONE WAS INJURED. FORD CLAIMS THIS IS A "MINOR PROBLEM". SECONDLY, PHIL LONG REPLACED SOME FRONT SUSPENSION PARTS BECAUSE THEY WERE DEFECTIVE. FROM THAT DAY THE VEHICLE HAS HAD EXCESSIVE FRONT END NOISE.*AK
BRAKE PADS WILL STICK TO THE ROTORS WHEN CONSUMER IS TRYING TO ACCELERATE, MAKING IT HARDER TO ACCELERATE WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED THREE TIMES SINCE DATE OF PURCHASE. WINDSHIELD WITHOUT ANY ASSITANCE FROM A FOREGIN OBJECT HAS CRACKED TWICE DOWN THE MIDDLE, AND ONCE ON THE SIDE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
ROTORS ARE PREMATURELY WEARING AND HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT ANY SPEED A LOUD NOISE OCCURS, CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
FRONT END WAS FALLING OFF. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER DID NOT THINK THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. BUT, WHEN SHAKING THE BUMPER SCREWS COME LOOSE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED, AND COULD NOT DETERMINE CAUSE. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A DRIVER'S SIDE/OFF CENTER FRONTAL COLLISION. DRIVER AND PASSENGER RECEIVED SEVERE INJURIES FROM AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. *AKPASSENGER SUFFERED MASSIVE FACIAL ABRASIONS AND SEVERE TRAUMA TO HER LEFT EYE AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. I KNOW OF ANOTHER PARTY WHO SUFFERED SAME TO LEFT HAND AND FOREARM FROM A FORD FOCUS STEERING WHEEL BAG.
