ON 5/31/16 WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 13 VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, BRAKES PEDAL WAS HARD AS A ROCK AND COULD NOT BE DEPRESS TO SLOW VEHICLE DOWN, SHIFTING GEARS CAUSE THE ENGINE TO RACE, PULLING EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN.. MANAGED TO TAKE AN OFF-RAMP OFF THE HIGHWAY, STOPPING THE VEHICLE BY RUNNING INTO SOME HEDGES AND A TREE. OAKLAND POLICE INCIDENT NUMBER IS 162.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,600.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR NO LONGER LOCKS, EITHER AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY ATTEMPTING TO PRESS THE LOCK LATCH. ISSUE IS THE SAME WITH CHILD LOCK ENGAGED OR DISENGAGED. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
"TAKATA RECALL" I'M HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH MY FORD FOCUS WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY IN THE HIGHER GEARS, 3RD AND 4TH I HAD IT CHECKED AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHO VERIFYED THAT THE COMPUTER TOLD THEM THAT THE HIGHER GEARS WERE AT FAULT. I WOULD LIKE ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME WITH THIS PROBLEM.
I TOOK AN EXIT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A STOP SIGN. WHEN I TURNED LEFT AT ABOUT 15 TO 20 MPH, I STRAIGHTENED OUT MY VEHICLE, AND AT BETWEEN 25-30 MPH, MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED OUT OF MY DRIVER'S SEAT WITHOUT ANY REASON.I DID NOT CRASH INTO ANYTHING NOR DID ANYTHING CRASH INTO ME. THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY, WITH NO PRECIPITATION, AND THE ROADS WERE CLEAR WITH NO ICE OR SNOW. AFTER THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THE MILEAGE WAS 109,812. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY COULD FIND NO REASON WHY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THEY WANTED ME TO REPLACE MODULES AND SENSORS, TOTALING $2,800. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO COLLISION, MY INSURANCE REFUSED TO HELP. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT IS PAST THE DATE OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
I AM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THE USED CAR I JUST BOUGHT WITH IN THE LAST WEEK IS SHUDDERING, JERKING, AND SLIP OUT OF GEAR. IT ONLY HAD ONE OWNER, AND A LITTLE OVER 56,000 MILES. NOW I HAVE ONLY PUT 125 MILES ON IT, AND IT DOES THIS. SINCE IT SLOWS DOWN QUICKLY WITH A FIERCE JERK OF THE CAR, I WAS LUCKY AND DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, AND OTHER CARS BEHIND ME SLAMMING ON THERE BRAKES.
WE TOOK MY WIFE'S 2007 FORD FOCUS IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT TIRES NEED TO BE ROTATED ON THE FORD FOCUS'S AT EVERY OIL CHANGE TO HELP WITH THE LIFE BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL THEY ARE NOTORIOUS FOR WEARING AN RUINING TIRES. SO WHAT IS THE DEAL DO WE HAVE TO HAVE DEEP POCKETS OR BE SITTING ON A PILE OF MONEY TO KEEP REPLACING TIRES OR CAN FORD BE MADE TO HELP COMPENSATE THE CONSUMER'S FOR A PROBLEM THEY CREATED AND ARE JUST LETTING IT GO.
MY CAR IS HAVING SOME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO A HIGHER SPEED AND WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE. THE OVERDRIVE OFF LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING EVEN THOUGH I TURNED MY OVERDRIVE ON AND MY CAR ISN'T THAT HIGH IN MILEAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING OVER 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME UNSTABLE AND WAS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND OVERDRIVE SENSOR LIGHTS SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000. UPDATED 02/18/16*LJ
I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN WHEN THE INTERNAL LIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY THE RADIO SHUTTING OFF, HEADLIGHTS DIMMING BEFORE TURNING OFF, AND WIPER BLADES FAILING. THIS WAS QUITE DANGEROUS AS IT WAS DARK OUT AND RAINING, AND I HAD NO WIPERS OR HEADLIGHTS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET OFF THE ROAD BEFORE THE CAR FAILED ENTIRELY. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, AND I HAD TO GET TOWED TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY ALTERNATOR, WHICH ALSO CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL. THE MECHANIC REPLACED BOTH COMPONENTS FOR $630.80.
REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED, CAUSING DOOR TO POP OPEN - THE LATCH HAS A RECALL, BUT ONLY THROUGH 2005 - SAME LATCH IS USED. THE DOOR WILL NOW NOT CLOSE AT ALL. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON MY 2003 FOCUS. CAR HAS LESS THAN 70000 MILES ON IT. IF THERE WAS EVER A SAFETY ISSUE NEEDING A RECALL, IT IS DOORS POPPING OPEN ON THEIR OWN.
WAS LEAVING WORK PUT THE VEHICLE INTO GEAR AND THE SHIFTER CAME APART IN MY HAND AFTER IT WAS PUT INTO GEAR. WAS NOT ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK OR TAKE THE KEY OUT OF IGNITION.WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
MY AIR BAG LIGHTS COMES ON AND OFF. CAR HASNT BEEN WRECKED BUT WHEN LIGHT COMES ON IT WILL STAY ON FOR HALF AND DAY. THESE TWO LIGHTS PASSENGER AND DRIVER WILL COME ON WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION GOING DOWN HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECREASED IN SPEED TO 30 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A BUSHING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY BREAKS FEEL VERY MUSHY. I HAVE TO PUMP MY BREAKS IN ORDER FOR ME TO STOP. I COULD BE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEED TO SLOW DOWN OR COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN MY BREAKS DON'T RESPOND NORMALLY. WHILE ON HIGHWAY IF I DON'T PUMP BREAKS THE PEDAL JUST GOES TO THE FLOOR. WHEN COMING TO A STOP I HAVE TO PUMP BREAKS TO SLOW DOWN AND HAVE THE PEDAL TO FLOOR IN ORDER TO STOP. IF I COME OFF THE FLOOR JUST SLIGTLY WITH PEDAL THE CAR WILL ROLL FORWARD. VERY SCARY MAY I AD. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND NOTICED THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY AFTER PURCHASE. I HAD THE BREAK PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A DAILY PROBLEM.
THE HATCHBATCH DOOR WORKED WELL THEN A FEW MINUETS LATER I OPENED IT, IT WILL NOT STAY UP AND SLAMS DOWN THERE WAS NOT INCIDENT OF INJURY IT BUT IS A DANGER IT WILL NOT STAY OPEN.

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ONE OTHER OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PIGTAIL AND THE SWITCH MELTED TOGETHER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
OUT OF NO WHERE MY BATTERY INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED TO GET GAS AND ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE CAR CUT OFF AND THE CAR DIED. I HAD SOMEONE JUMP ME AND I MADE IT TO MY HOUSE AND IN THE PARKING SPOT AND AS SOON AS I PARKED MY CAR IT DIED AGAIN. I WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY ON 6/11/2015 TODAY IS 7/28/2015 AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED A SECOND TIME AND HAD THE CAR TESTED AND FOUND OUT THE ALTERNATOR IS FAILING. I HAVE FOUND MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ALTERNATOR FAILING AND BELIEVE THIS HAS BECOME A HUGE ISSUE. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES OUTSIDE AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. I WILL REPLACE THE UNIT BUT I HAVE SEEN WHERE MANY PEOPLE REPLACED IT MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN A 2 YEAR SPAN. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG ON THE DASHBOARD GOES ON AND OFF AND HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS. (I AM NOT SURE EXACTLY WHEN IT BEGAN, SINCE WHEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF, I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS OVER) I HAVE HAD A CAR REPAIR SHOP TRY TO FIX IT SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED. THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON (IN EVERY SEASON OF THE YEAR) WHEN THE WEATHER IS HUMID OR DAMP AND GOES OFF WHEN THE AIR IS DRIER. THE MECHANICS SAY THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG AT A COST OF AROUND $400. I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS A TAKATA AIRBAG, BUT AM NOT SURE. STILL, IT IS DEFECTIVE AND I THINK THESE AIRBAGS SHOULD BE INSPECTED IN OTHER FORD FOCUS MODELS IN WHICH THEY ARE INSTALLED. ALSO THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK (LOCKING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR) STOPPED WORKING FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR MORE THAN A YEAR AGO. I NOW HAVE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK IT MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE, REQUIRING THE PASSENGER TO WAIT OUTSIDE THE CAR WHILE I (DRIVER) GET INTO THE CAR AND UNLOCK THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THIS POSES A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER.
WE WERE DRIVING NORTH AT 50 MPH, MAN GOING EAST ROLLED THROUGH STOP SIGN. HE T-BONED US SQUARE IN BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOORS, ROLLING US OVER TWICE, LANDING BACK ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. OUT OF 7 AIRBAGS ONLY ONE DEPLOYED. THE AIR BAG THAT DEPLOYED WAS ON THE PASSENGER SEAT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF WHERE THE IMPACT OCCURRED. I HAVE THE CAR, IT HAS BEEN UNTOUCHED OTHER THAN TOW TRUCK COMPANY AND IS LOCKED IN MY PARENTS GARAGE, AS WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT OR NEXT. WE HAVE TONS OF PICTURES. FOR SOME REASON, MY AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN MAY GO OFF FOR A DAY BEFORE COMING BACK ON. NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHEY THIS IS HAPPENING. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS IS NOT AN AIRBAG SENSOR ISSUE OR SOMETHING RELATED TO THE RECALL ISSUES WITH TAKATA. THANKS YOU AND PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS YOU CAN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS BLACK SMOKE AND FUEL FUMES EMITTING INTO THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO BREATH PROPERLY AND HIS EARS WERE RINGING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,500.
THERE IS A NON-ISOLATED SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVING THE SEATS USED IN THE 2007 FORD FOCUS. THERE ARE COUNTLESS FORUM THREADS REGARDING THE POOR BUILD QUALITY OF THE SEATS USED IN THIS PARTICULAR MODEL OF FORD. THE BACK OF THE SEAT FRAME BENDS WITH LITTLE TO NO PRESSURE AND THE CONDITION OF THE SEAT BACK SLOWLY BUT PROGRESSIVELY DETERIORATES. THIS POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION, PARTICULARLY IN AN INCIDENT WHERE MY VEHICLE IS REAR ENDED. NOT ONLY WOULD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, BUT THE DRIVER WOULD NOT BE PROPERLY PROTECTED IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. I SUFFER FROM SEVERE BACK PAIN JUST BY DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, LET ALONE IN THE AFTERMATH OF AN ACCIDENT. THERE IS NO COST EFFECTIVE WAY AND LEGAL WAY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SELLS THE OEM SEATS (WHICH ARE ALL PRONE TO SEATBACK FAILURE REGARDLESS) FOR $3,000. THE ONLY OTHER OPTION AVAILABLE TO CONSUMERS IS TO PURCHASE AFTERMARKET SEATS. HOWEVER, IN STATES WHICH REQUIRE ANNUAL VEHICLE INSPECTION STICKERS, THERE IS NO LEGAL WAY TO INSTALL AFTERMARKET SEATS BECAUSE BY DOING SO, AN AIRBAG ERROR LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE ON THE DASH, THEREBY AUTOMATICALLY FAILING THE CAR'S INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. WHILE SPEAKING TO A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE FORD MOTOR VEHICLE COMPANY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS "REGRETFULLY, NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME FOR THE ISSUE I WAS EXPERIENCING" AND "THAT THERE IS NO CREDIBLE SAFETY DEFECT INVOLVING THE SEAT."
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH IN THE LANE 2. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS DRIVING NORTH IN THE FIRST LANE. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS ATTEMPTING A LEFT TURN SHE COULD NOT SEE PAST TRAFFIC IN THE SOUTH FIRST LANE SO SHE CONTINUED TO TURN. I THEN T-BONED THE OTHER DRIVE. SHE WAS CITED AT FAULT FOR FAILING TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY. MY AIR BAGS ATTEMPTED TO DEPLOY BUT THEY DID NOT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO VEER TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE DOORS BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LOST CONSCIOUSNESS FOR SEVERAL MOMENTS. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURES TO THE BRAIN, NECK, AND BACK MUSCLES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE COUNTY DEPUTY DETERMINED THAT THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY HAD COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND FILED A REPORT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON DASHBOARD WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST DEPENDING ON TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY, BUT FOR PAST TWO YEARS IT HAS BEEN ON CONSTANTLY. HAVE CHECKED WIRING HARNESS UNDERNEATH FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SINCE I WAS TOLD IT WAS A LOOSE CONNECTION CAUSING THE LIGHT TO COME ON. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE ISSUE AT TIMES, BUT NO LONGER DOES.
SPRING BROKE ON AIR BAG FOR NO REASON. LIGHT DID COME ON AND OFF IN THE DASH BOARD. I' M WRITING THIS TO INFORM THE BOARD THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM WITH THESE AIRBAGS. FURTHERMORE I FEEL IT SHOULD NOT BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR FOR THE AMOUNT OF FOUR HUNDRED A D FIFTY DOLLARS.. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH. HIT A PATCH OF ICE ON THE UNTREATED ICY ROADS IN GLOCESTER RI . CAUSED ME TO INCREASE SPEED WHILE SPINNING IN CIRCLES . ENDED UP HITTING A TREE WITH THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DESTROYED EVERYTHING ON THAT SIDE UNDER THE HOOD AND THE CHASIE IN THE FRONT!! NEXT I SPUN AGAIN HITTING THE FRONT BUMPER ON THE RIGHT SIDE! AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AND THEY SHOULD HAVE AT THE SPEED AND VELOCITY THE CAR HIT THE TREE AT! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED, BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. WHILE DRIVING ON SNOW FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH THIS VEHICLE, I EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT AND EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL FISHTAILING OF THE REAR END. EACH LEFT TIRE RAN OVER THE UNCOVERED WATER VALVE. THERE WAS A LOUD POP, AND I BLACKED OUT. THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT AFTER THE LEFT FRONT TIRE SUSTAINED DAMAGE THAT RESULTED IN A FLAT TIRE SHORTLY THEREAFTER. ALSO, THE AIR BAG IN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DEPLOYED AND HIT ME IN THE HEAD, CAUSING ME TO BLACK OUT, AND PRODUCING AMNESIA AND OTHER MENTAL SYMPTOMS THAT LINGERED FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
