THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR (4 DOOR SEDAN SE MODEL) WILL NOT LOCK. I CAN'T LOCK IT MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. THE DRIVER DOOR WILL LOCK, BUT ONLY WITH THE KEY OR WHEN THE LOCK IN MANUALLY PUSHED. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SHOULD NEVER FAIL IN A MODE THAT CAN'T BE LOCKED. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN BE CARJACKED, MY BELONGS AND CAR CAN BE STOLEN. CHILDREN CANNOT SIT IN THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. *TR
TRAVELING ON AN FREEWAY, I DOWNSHIFTED (MTX75, 5SP MANUAL TRANS) AND PASSED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THEN WENT TO UP SHIFT AND FOUND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENTER ANY GEARS. SHIFTER WOULD MOVE SIDE TO SIDE, BUT NO UP AND DOWN INTO THE GATES. TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND TORE DOWN TO FIND CAUSE. FOUND A ROLL PIN HAD FALLEN OUT/SHEARED OFF ON THE GEAR SELECTOR ASSEMBLY ON THE TRANSMISSION. RESEARCH SHOWED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON THIS TRANSMISSION WITH NO FIX OR UPDATED PARTS FROM MANUFACTURER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT SECURED, THE SEAT BELT UNLATCHED INDEPENDENTLY LEAVING THE DRIVER UNSECURED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH OUTSIDE OF CLEVELAND, OHIO WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT CAUSE. WE WERE SHOCKED, BUT MY HUSBAND WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE CAR. THE ROAD WAS TOTALLY CLEAR THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. WE WENT TO A NEARBY POLICE STATION AND THE OFFICER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT AT ALL, AND THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THEIR OPINION. MY ARM AND BACK HAVE BEEN SORE AND WE HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THE FORD DEALER HOW THEY PLAN TO TAKE CARE OF THIS. I AM AFRAID THAT THE OTHER AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE AS WELL. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE DRIVER SIDE IT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
MY DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. WHEN I TRY TO AUTO LOCK IT, IT DOES NOTHING. AND THERE IS NO WAY TO MANUALLY LOCK IT. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE DOOR REMAINS UNLOCKED AT ALL TIMES AND I CANNOT EVEN CHILD PROOF BECAUSE THAT WOULD ALLOW THE DOOR TO BE OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, NOT THE INSIDE, THEREFORE STILL ESSENTIALLY NOT LOCKED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE RIDING IN THE BACKSEAT IF THEY ACCIDENTLY OPEN THE DOOR FOR WHATEVER REASON. MORE IMPORTANTLY, FOR ME, IT IS A SECURITY ISSUE IF MY CAR IS NEVER LOCKED. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND SEEN MANY, MANY OTHERS WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR (AS WELL AS OTHER YEARS TOO). I LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE WITH THE '05 MODEL BUT FORD FOR SOME REASON WILL NOT TAKE RESPONIBILITY FOR THE OTHER YEARS AS WELL. IF THIS IS FORD'S ISSUE, AND NOT A ONE-TIME INCIDENT WITH MY CAR, I DO NOT NOT BELIEVE I SHOULD BE THE ONE RESPONSIBLE. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. I JUST HAPPENED TO NOTICE ONE DAY THAT THE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PUSHED TO A GARAGE TO PARK IT. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE IGNITION TRANSFORMER CAPACITOR AND THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER OR LOCAL MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A TIRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG THEN DEPLOYED ERRONEOUSLY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE ARMS AS A RESULT OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC STOP, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000. *TR
I NOTICED A VIBRATION THAT SEEMED TO INCREASE OVER TIME OF ABOUT 2 WEEKS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED A WHEEL BEARING AND RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THE REAR TIRES DUE TO SEVERE CUPPING. THE TIRES ARE CONTINENTAL CONTACTS WITH ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON THEM AND SHOULD HAVE LASTED THE NEXT 5 YEARS. I WENT TO THE TIRE SHOP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT FORD FOCUSES ARE KNOWN TO HAVE ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS AND WILL DESTROY THEIR TIRES PREMATURELY. RESEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND 47 SUCH COMPLAINTS OVER THE YEARS RELATING EXACTLY TO WHAT I EXPERIENCED. THE PROBLEM IS THE REAR SUSPENSION IS CAMBERED IN TOO MUCH AT THE TOP AND FORD NEVER MADE THE SUSPENSION ADJUSTABLE. MINE MEASURED 1/4 INCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE 15 INCH RIM COMPARED TO THE BOTTOM. THIS SITS THE CAR ON THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE TIRE CREATING THE PREMATURE WEAR. FORD MUST KNOW THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. *TR
KEY WILL NOT REMOVE FROM IGNITION. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE FOCUS BECAUSE I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. *TR
THE REAR DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE STOPPED WORKING. IT IS STUCK IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION AND CANNOT BE LOCKED MANUALLY OR WITH THE REMOTE. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. DID NOT REALIZE THIS UNTIL I WAS WITH A FRIEND AND HIS SON DRIVING DOWN OUR STREET AND MY FRIENDS SON OPEN THE REAR DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEN IT SHOULD OF LOCKED WITH THE REST OF THE DOORS. CAN'T GET THE DOOR TO LOCK NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH WAS INOPERABLE. THE DOOR WAS BEING HELD CLOSED BY THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE LATCH FOR THE DOOR WAS FROZEN AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
DASHBOARD EXTREME HEAT. WIRING FOR AIRBAG SWITCH NO LONGER WORKS. AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. SWITCH ON DASH NO LONGER WORKS. *TR
I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH WHICH IS PRESENTLY LIT UP SINCE 2012. I TOOK IT TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT SINCE IT IS NOT ON THE LIST. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK AND MAKE SURE TAKATA HAS NOT EXTENDED TO FORD FOCUS 2007 FOR ME? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 40MPH AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED A WEEK LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO VERIFIED THE ALTERNATOR HAD BECOME DEFECTIVE AGAIN AND ADDED THAT THE SHIFT SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT ALLOWED THE ENGINE TOIDLE FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE GEAR WAS FINALLY ABLE TO BE SHIFTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS IN A AUTO ACCIDENT ON 05/18/2012, I WAS DRIVING 10 MILES UNDER POSTED SPEED LIMIT, I HAD A GREEN LIGHT AND A YOUNG GIRL AGE 17 RAN RED LIGHT I HAD NO TIME TO STEP ON BRAKES OR ANYTHING, I WAS KNOCKED OUT WHEN I CAME TOO, THE AIR BAG HAD DEPLOYED AND IT BURNED MY FACE, NOSE, I INHALED WHATEVER CHEMICALS ARE IN THE AIRBAG,IT BURNED MY THROAT ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND TO THIS DAY, MY NOSE HAS A BRUISE LOOKING SPLOTCHES AND MY NOSE BLEEDS CONSTANTLY, ALSO, I HAVE SORES IN MY MOUTH CONSTANTLY AND A BLUE BLOOD BLISTER ON MY LIP..I AM HORSE, I WAS COUGHING UP BLOOD...MY VOICE HAS NOT BEEN THE SAME SINCE THE ACCIDENT, THE YOUNG GIRL WAS SITED WITH A TICKET AND I WAS NOT, I WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL, THE AIRBAG BROKE MY STERNUM BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY LUNGS HURT CONSTANTLY AND WITH ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT ARE STILL BOTHERING ME, I HAVE PICTURES OF MY FACE AND CHEST, PLUS THE POLICE REPORT... *TR
WITH NO ACCIDENT, TRAUMA OR UNUSUAL EVENT, MY AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT BEGAN TO COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK, IT STAYED ON. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. FOR $119.16, THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS CODES B1868 - AIRBAG LAMP FAILURE AND B2232 AIRBAG CIRCUIT OPEN LOOP #2 FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT. IT WOULD COST $1,100 TO REPLACE THE MODULE.
THE FORD FOCUS COLLIDED WITH AN ELK. THE DRIVER SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK AND THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO COLLIDE WITH THE STEERING WHEEL, WINDSHIELD, AND ELK. *JS
3 OF 4 DOORS HAVE NOW BROKEN ON MY 2007 FOCUS, DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM AS WHAT WAS RECALLED ON THE 05 MODEL -- THE DOORS WILL NOT LATCH AND/OR LOCK. THE DOOR MECHANISM IS THE SAME FOR 2000-07, SO I'M NOT SURE WHY 07 WAS NOT RECALLED AS WELL. I PAID THE DEALER OVER $1000 TO FIX THE FRONT DRIVER AND BACK PASSENGER DOORS IN 5/12, AND NOW IN 7/12, THE BACK DRIVER DOOR IS DOING THE SAME THING -- WHEN YOU GO TO SHUT IT, IT JUST POPS BACK OPEN, AS THE LATCH DOES NOT CATCH. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME FROM MY BABY SHOWER LAST NIGHT WITH THE REAR DOORS TETHERED TO EACHOTHER TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM FLAPPING OPEN WHILE I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP, AS WELL AS FORD CORPORATE, AND HAVE BASICALLY BEEN TOLD IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND I AM ON MY OWN TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, BECAUSE MY CAR IS "TOO OLD" (JUST 5 YEARS FROM MFG DATE) AND HAS "TOO HIGH MILEAGE" (NOT THAT THE DOORS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MILEAGE) FOR FORD TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE OF CHEAP, FAULTY PARTS AND POOR WORKMANSHIP. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, AND IS CLEARLY NOT ISOLATED TO MY VEHICLE. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE IGNORED THIS PROBLEM, WHICH COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO IT'S CUSTOMERS (JUST IMAGINE IF THE LATCH HAD STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DOING 70 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY!), AND NEITHER I NOR ANYONE IN MY FAMILY WILL EVER BUY ANOTHER FORD! *TR
I HAD DIFFICULTY OPENING DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, THE HANDLE WOULD "STICK OR CATCH". I WOULD HAVE TO RELEASE AND TRY AGAIN, SOMETIMES THIS WOULD SOMETIMES I HAD TO REPEAT THE PROCESS BEFORE IT WOULD OPEN. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED ALONG WITH ANOTHER ISSUE THAT WAS RESOLVED. I WAS TOLD DOOR HAD NO PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED ON AND OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS. THIS PAST SUNDAY I WENT TO ENTER CAR AND ALMOST PULLED DOOR HANDLE OFF AS IT SEEMED TO RELEASE FROM EQUIPMENT IT WAS ATTACHED TO. I NOW CANNOT OPEN THAT DOOR AND HAVE TO ENTER THROUGH PASSENGER DOOR. MILEAGE ATTACHED IS APPROXIMATION. *TR
I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING AND MY CAR ENGINE WAS REVVING UP WHEN I WOULD PUSH IN THE CLUTCH. AFTER TAKING IT IN TO THE MECHANIC, THEY TOLD ME MY ALTERNATOR WENT OUT. THIS WOULD NOT BE A BIG DEAL BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING COMMON AMONG 2007 FORD FOCUS OWNERS. NOT ONLY DOES THIS REPAIR SEEM PREMATURE BUT IT ALSO IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN REPLACING MOST ALTERNATORS BECAUSE IT IS A DEALER ONLY PART. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 FORD FOCUS [XXX], IT'S A PRETTY GOOD LITTLE CAR. EXCEPT FOR ONE THING, THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. THEN IT GOES OFF. THIS REPEATS. IT STARTED IN APRIL AND LASTED UNTIL THE CAR WOULDN'T START LEAVING MY WIFE STRANDED 50 MILES FROM HOME. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER, BILL UTTER FORD IN DENTON, TX. I TOLD THEM THAT I HAD THE PREMIUMCARE EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND THEY UNDERSTOOD AND LET ME KNOW IF IT WAS JUST THE BATTERY I'D STILL BE RESPONSIBLE AS FORD CONSIDERS THAT A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND DETERMINED IT WAS JUST THE BATTERY FOR WHICH THEY CHARGED ME $246.61. THE CAR WAS RUNNING ALL RIGHT. UNTIL TUESDAY WHEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. AND TURNED OFF. THIS TIME HOWEVER MY WIFE WAS MUCH CLOSER TO HOME AND SHE BROUGHT IT BACK. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM, BANKSTON AND THY EXAMINED THE CAR AND FOUND THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS NOT PROPERLY CHARGING THE BATTERY. THEY REPLACED IT AND I PAID A $100 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THE PREMIUMCARE WARRANTY. SO NOW, FOR ONE PROBLEM I'VE PAID $346.61, WHICH IN THE SCHEME OF THINGS IS NOT SO MUCH. BUT IT DOES SEEM TO ME ABOUT $246.61 MORE THAN I NEEDED TO PAY. SO I CALLED BILL UTTER FORD AND WHILE THE MAN THAT ANSWERED WAS VERY NICE AND HAD REASONABLE CONCERNS ABOUT REFUNDING MY MONEY. HE ALSO SAID THAT THEY HAD REPLACED MANY ALTERNATORS IN FOCUSES (FOCII?) WITH THE BATTERY LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "FORD FOCUS INTERMITTENT BATTERY LIGHT" WHERE I RECEIVED 101,000 HITS. THAT IS MORE THAN A FEW. CONSIDERABLY MORE THAN A FEW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH OVER A POTHOLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO BOTH STATED THAT THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIANS ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED, THE AIR BAG SYSTEM RESPONDED AS THOUGH A MASSIVE IMPACT WAS INVOLVED WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO IMPACT NOR DID THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AT 7:30 THIS MORNING, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE PALISADES PARKWAY, MY SPEED WAS ABOUT 70 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, FOLLOWED BY SMOKE IN THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR. I IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN AND REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS STILL OPERATING FINE, BUT THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. I DID NOT HIT A POT HOLE, NOR WAS I HIT OR HIT ANY ONE OR ANY THING. IT JUST DEPLOYED ON IT'S OWN. THE SEAT BAG WAS LOCATED IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OUR KIDS CAN JUST OPEN THE REAR DOOR BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO ABILITY TO LOCK THE DOOR WITH THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK FEATURE. THE LOCK IS JAMMED IN THE UNLOCK POSITION. THE IGNITION KEY WOULD NOT TURN. THE REPAIR COST $305 AND FORD WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSE UNDER THE EXTRACARE EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2000. I HAD A 2003 FORD FOCUS AND I EXPERIENCED THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I ASSUMED WHEN I PURCHASED MY 2007 AND 2010 FORD FOCUS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD. I LOOKED UP THE 2003 FORD FOCUS ON YOUR DATABASE AND FOUND 247 COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM.. THE 2007 FORD FOCUS HAS ONLY 10 COMPLAINTS BUT IT APPEARS THAT THE MILEAGE HAS TO BE OVER 30,000 MILES.
