INTERMITTANT STARTING..NEW TRANSCIEVER..KEYS REPROGRAMMED...NEW BATTERY MAU START TWO OR THREE CONSE UTIVE TIMES THEN NOTHING
THE AUTOMATIC DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS TSB'S ISSUED BECAUSE OF DEFECTS BUT NO ACTUAL RECALL. THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE TRANSMISSION BUT ONLY FOR "SPECIFICALLY TERMED" ISSUES. MY CLUTCH AND SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE, THE TCM HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED 3 TIMES AND NOW THEY NOW TELL ME I NEED TO REPLACE THE "J AND K" FORKS, SNAP RING AND T/O BEARING IN THE TRANSMISSION. BUT, THEY TELL ME NONE OF THIS IS COVERED. THEY OPENED UP AND SERVICED A "SEALED" TRANSMISSION AT LEAST TWICE ALREADY AND THE CAR IS DOING THE SAME THING THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM, SHUDDERING, JERKING AND NO POWER BUT NOW I HAVE TO PAY. JUST GETTING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS ALMOST IN 2 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS CARS ERRATIC ACCELERATION DRIVING BEHAVIOR.
STEREO WILL WORK FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN THERE WILL BE A LOUD POPPING AND HIGH PITCHED FREQUENCY OF STATIC, EVEN WITH RHE RADIO VOLUME ON 0 OR WITH THE RADIO OFF. COULD CAUSE A DRIVER TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD RESULTING IN A CRASH OR A FIRE TO START FROM FAULTY WIRING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH THE WIPER BLADES OPERATIONAL, THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER BLADE STOPPED OPERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OBSTRUCTED THE DRIVER'S VISION AS THE WIPER BLADE FAILED TO STOP. THE DEALER (LONNIE COBB FORD, 1618 US-45, HENDERSON, TN 38340, (731) 989-2121) STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR COULD BE DIFFICULT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. *TT *JB
DRIVING AND AN ERROR POPPED UP: STEERING ASSIST FAILURE, GET SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE ERROR APPEARED.
ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE CAR WHICH IS CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO MALFUNCTION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I AM UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL! FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE THAT HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE ISSUE HAS BEEN KNOW TO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE FORD DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDS I REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM (EPAS) TO CORRECT THE CONCERN, FOR AROUND $2,000. I CANNOT AFFORD THIS - WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR AN EXTREME MISTAKE MADE BY FORD WHEN THEY CREATED THESE CARS? I AM FEARFUL THE ERROR WILL OCCUR EVERY TIME I DRIVE, AND TAKE EXTRA CAUTION ON EACH TRIP I MAKE. PLEASE HELP
DOOR LATCH DID NOT CATCH AS WE WERE GOING HOME FROM DINNER ON SUNDAY 4-22-18 WITH MY SISTER SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT BEHIND THE DRIVER. WE LUCKILY WERE IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE RESTAURANT WHEN MY HUSBAND SAW IT WAS NOT CLOSING AS IT SHOULD. IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT HOME SAFELY WE HAD TO USE THE SEAT BELT TO HOLD THE DOOR AS CLOSED AS POSSIBLE WITH MY SISTER ALSO HOLDING IT AS WE HAD MANY MILES TO DRIVE TO OUR HOME. THIS WAS A PART THAT FORD REPLACED IN 2017 DUE TO A RECALL. WAS THIS PART DEFECTIVE TOO. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME IT SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 13 MONTHS. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP WITH THE COST TO CORRECT WHICH IS EXCESSIVE.
WHILE DRIVING I LOST ALL ABILITY TO TURN THE WHEEL. I WAS DRIVING SLOW AND ABOUT TO PARK. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND THEN STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND RECEIVED A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT ERROR DISPLAYING ON THE DASH PANEL. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AGAIN TO SEE IF THIS ERROR WOULD CLEAR, BUT IT DID NOT. I LOOK UP THIS ERROR ONLINE AND FOUND AT LEAST 150 OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE SOME IF I READ CORRECTLY ENDED IN DEATHS. SOME SAY TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT BACK ON TO CLEAR THIS ISSUE. THIS FIX DID NOT WORK FOR ME. I HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH I JUST EXITED. PLEASE HELP USE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.
WHEN YOU GO TO START IT AS SOON AS YOU TURN THE IGNITION ON IT STARTS TO CRANK THE CAR OVER WHEN I DON'T HAVE IT TURN ALL THE WAY TO CRANK THE MOTOR OVER. AS IT HAS A SHORT I BEEN TOLD BY FORD BUT NOTHING BEING DONE THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST.IT CRANKS OVER LIKE A DEAD BATTERY WHEN THE BATTERY BRAND NEW.BUT THE KEY SWITCH SHOULD NEVER START THE ENGINE TILL YA TURN IT ALL THE WAY.IT'S LIKE IF I TURN THE SWITCH ON TO HEAR THE RADIO THE CAR STARTS CRANKING OVER AND STARTING WHEN IT SHOULDNT.FORD HAS NEVER FIX THE RECALLS THATS ON IT NOW AS WE TOLD THEM AND THEY SAY THEY ARENT IMPORTANT WHEN THE DOORS AND SWITCH ARE VERY IMPORTANT.THIS STARTING PROBLEM BEEN GOING ON SINCE WE BOUGHT IT FROM FORD.
IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR I STARTED THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE AND THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING AS IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL,MANEUVER, AND STEER THE CAR. I MANAGED TO GET IT TO MY LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY ASSESSED THE SITUATION. THEY FOUND FAILURE WITH THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. IN ORDER TO FIX IT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY WHICH CONTAINS THE STEERING MODULE. THIS COST $3,377.56. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT IN THE HOPES THAT IT PROMPTS A RECALL AND THAT I MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR SOME FORM OF REFUND FOR THIS EXTRAORDINARY FAILURE AND EXPENSE FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT THAT OLD WITH LOW MILEAGE. I KEPT THE REPAIR INVOICE WITH ALL THE DETAILS BUT DO NOT WISH TO POST IT AS IT CONTAINS MY PERSONAL INFORMATION.
THE CAR HAS A BAD STUTTER FROM COMPLETE STOPS, OR EVEN WHEN SLOWING DOWN IT STUTTERS AND SHAKES. EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS THE RPM STAGGERS FROM 200 TO 800 JUST SITTING STILL. WHEN I'M IN TRAFFIC GOING UNDER 40MPH THE RPM STAGGERS BETWEEN 1-2000 RPM IT'S JUST UNSAFE AND WORRISOME AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY FORD! I'VE READY SERVAL DIFFERENT BLOGS WITH VARIOUS CUSTOMERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE! IT WOULD BE SAD FOR SOMEONE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BEHIND THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE FORD WON'T ADDRESS AND HANDLE THE ISSUE

THE CONTACT CALLED QUIRK FORD OF AUGUSTA AT (888) 468-2307 (LOCATED AT 7 WATER ST, HALLOWELL, ME 04347), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TWICE, WHEN EXITING CAR IN THE GARAGE, THE DOORS LOCKED AND THE ENGINE STARTED ON IT'S OWN. HAD TO USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE CAR, INSERT KEY AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. WITHOUT HEARING AIDS I WOULD HAVE JUST GONE IN THE HOUSE. DISASTER!
FIRST TIME WAS ON 15 MARCH. TOOK FOCUS IN FOR WIPERS NOT WORKING DRIVER SIDE STOPS. FORD REPLACED MOTOR FOR WIPER ON DRIVER SIDE. ON OR ABOUT MARCH 27 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK WIPERS QUIT WORKING. IT WAS RAINING OUT.I DROVE ABOUT 20 MILES WITH THE WIPERS STOPPING 30 PLUS TIMES. DROVE TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND LEFT CAR THERE FOR OVER A WEEK. THEY REPLACED BOTH MOTORS.PICKED UP CAR 5 OF APRIL.NOW APRIL 14 RAINING OUT DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND WIPERS STOPPED 6 TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED GEARS FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT SHIFTED AUTOMATICALLY BACK TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GRIDLEY COUNTRY FORD (1709 HWY 99, GRIDLEY, CA 95948) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V523000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED PER THE RECALL APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
"STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ERROR MESSAGE STARTED APPEARING RANDOMLY WHEN STARTING UP CAR IN PARK ABOUT ONCE MONTH A YEAR AGO. I COULD GET IT TO CLEAR BY SHUTTING OFF CAR AND OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR AND RESTARTING. FREQUENCY INCREASED LAST MONTH TO ABOUT ONCE A WEEK, THEN TO EVERY DAY, AND NOW IT WON'T CLEAR. MECHANIC'S CHARGE $2,114 TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART, REALIGN AND REPROGRAM CAR'S STEERING.
ON APRIL 7TH 2018 I STARTED MY 2012 FORD FOCUS AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED SOLID THE WARNING LIGHTS LITE UP STATING ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT 3 TIMES UNTIL IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. I WENT RIGHT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THEY CLAIM THERE IS NO RECALL. I DID SOME RESEARCH FIND THAT THERE'S BEEN OVER 120 INJURIES AND ONE DEATH RELATED TO THE POWER STEERING FAILURE ON THESE VEHICLES. THIS IS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE NOW TOTALING 10 TIMES AND NOW I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHICH CONCERNS OF AS I'M ON THE ROAD THE STEERING LOCKS UP WHEN I GET IN A CRASH OR ACCIDENT. THE NHTSA AND FORD KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED. PLEASE HELP I WAS STATIONARY IT'S TIME AND JUST HOPING AND PRAYING THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ME WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES AN HOUR LIKE IT HAS DONE TO OTHER PEOPLE AND HAVE BEEN INJURED.
POSSIBLE TAKATA RECALL-DONT KNOW IF THIS IS A TAKATA AIRBAG-ITS A 2012 FORD FOCUS, THERE IS NO RECALL AS OF NOW, BUT MY SON BOUGHT CAR YESTERDAY, WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT TODAY, CAR IS IN BAD SHAPE, HE IS OK, BUT NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. A GUY WAS ISSUED A CITATION FOR MAKING A LEFT AND NOT YIELDING, SO MY SON SWIRVED TO MISS HIM AND HIS FRONT AND SIDE OF CAR WERE PRETTY BAD DAMAGED. HE WAS GOING 30, SLAMMED ON BREAKS AND SKIDDED WHEN THEY HIT.
MY VEHICLE HAS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILURE. THE MOST RECENT OF WHICH OCCURRED WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR; I WAS ENTERING A TURN WHEN THE DISPLAY ALARM SOUNDED WITH THE FAILURE CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL AND DRIVE OFF THE ROAD. FORD COMPANY IS REFUSING TO HONOR MY WARRANTY CLAIMING THE PART IS NOT COVERED (A STEERING SENSOR), THOUGH THE STEERING COLUMN ITSELF IS COVERED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THE COLUMN CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT ALSO REPLACING THE SENSOR AND THE SENSOR CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT ALSO REPLACING THE COLUMN. IT SEEMS THEY HAVE FOUND A LOOPHOLE WITH WHAT IS KNOWN TO BE A DANGEROUS HAZARD TO THEIR VEHICLE. IN POINT OF FACT THE NEW YORK TIMES HAS EVEN WRITTEN AN ARTICLE IN 2015 DOCUMENTING POWER STEERING FAILURE AND THE INJURIES THAT HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO IT.
VEHICLE HAS LOST FORWARD PROPULSION NUMEROUS TIMES. SYMPTOMS HAVE OCCURRED BOTH AT HIGHWAY SPEED AS WELL AS STOPPED ATTEMPTING TO PULL AWAY FROM A STOP. THIS ISSUE STARTED AGAIN AT THE FIRST OF THE YEAR AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LONGMONT FORD. LONGMONT ADVISE NO CODES PRESENT AND ROAD TESTED VEHICLE LESS THAN 1.5 MILES. DEALER ADVISED COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND I NEEDED TO COME PICK-UP THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT SYMPTOMS OF LOSING FORWARD PROPULSION TO INCLUDE THE INTERSTATE AT 75MPH. UPON ATTEMPTING TO PULL TO A SAFE PLACE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN FORWARD GEARS AGAIN AFTER SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING SEVERAL TIMES. (STILL NO TRANSMISSION SERVICE LIGHT OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED SO I CAN'T TAKE VEHICLE BACK TO LONGMONT FORD DUE TO BEING TOLD THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT A LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REFUSING TO ROAD TEST VEHICLE) SYMPTOMS BECAME MORE FREQUENT WITH ADDITIONAL ISSUES OF THE TRANSMISSION / CLUTCHES NOT RELEASING WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND ATTEMPTING TO PUSH THE VEHICLE THROUGH A STOP LIGHT. THE SYMPTOMS THIS VEHICLE EXHIBITS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND CONTINUES TO OCCUR AFTER FORD'S CLAIMED REPAIRS.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRANSMISSION/ENGINE WILL CUT OUT FOR 1 SECOND CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD AND STALL FOR A BRIEF SECOND, THEN IT RESUMES DRIVING NORMAL. OTHER TIMES THE ENGINE WILL SHUTTER/ SOUND LIKE IT'S ALMOST GOING TO STALL OUT, ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR ACCELERATING FROM A ROLLING OR STOPPED POSITION. OFTEN THESE OCCUR ON CITY STREETS.
I WENT TO START MY CAR AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID "STEERING SYSTEM FAILURE". THE CAR IS NO LONGER DRIVEABLE. THE MANUFACTURER IS DENYING RESPONSIBILITY. THERE IS A NY TIMES ARTICLE RE: THIS STATING THEY ARE AWARE YET NO RECALL YET. WE NEED A RECALL. THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE BY OWNERS WHO HAVE NOT YET FILED WITH NHTSA. IT STARTED AS THE RADIO BEING ON AND A LOUD CRACKLINGS SOUND WOULD OCCUR THEN THE RADIO WOULD STOP AND NEVER TURN BACK ON. NOW THE RADIO IS ALWAYS ON AND STILL THE SOUND OCCURS MORE FREQUENTLY AND SOUNDS LIKE GUNSHOTS GOING OFF. IT'S BEEN SO LOUD IT HAS SCARED ME TO THE POINT WHERE I'VE LOST SOME CONTROL OF THE WHEEL. ALSO THE 911 ASSIST CAN'T BE USED WHEN THE RADIO ISN'T WORKING. THE VEHICLE CAN BE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY OF ON THE ROAD.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that upon the start of the vehicle, the "Engine Malfunction, Service Now" message was displayed on the instrument panel. In addition, the "Parking Aide Malfunction Service Required" message was displayed on the instrument panel when the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R). The vehicle also stalled upon the depression of the accelerator pedal after coming to a complete stop with the check engine warning light flashing on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and replaced the battery, starter, and spark plugs; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the transmission control module (TCM) was defective. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
STEERING ASSIST FAILURE NOTICE APPEARED ON AND OFF FOR NEARLY A YEAR. NOTICE WOULD DISAPPEAR AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND STRAIGHTENING STEERING WHEEL. AT 77000 MILES, WARNING CAME ON AGAIN AND WOULD NOT CLEAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. I WAS LUCKY IT WAS JUST IN MY DRIVEWAY. FORD HAS RECALLED SEVERAL CARS OF SIMILAR MAKE AND MODEL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE YET HAVE NOT RECALLED THE FORD FOCUS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. FORD NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKE AND SEND A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM ON ALL VEHICLES. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE CAR IS NOW OUT OF COMMISSION BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD THE REPAIR AND I AM TO SCARED TO DRIVE IT AS IS.

DURING THE FIRST VISIT, IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. DURING THE SECOND VISIT, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DEALER AND FORD SAY THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000. *TT
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE FOCUS EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT POWER. THE VEHICLE BEHAVED AS IF IN NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE.
I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN 7 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND MALFUNCTIONS ALWAYS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY! THANKFULLY I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT EXPIRED. MY WIFE HAD THE KIDS IN THE CAR WITH HER HEADING TO THE STORE AND IT WENT OUT AND SHE HAD NO CLUE WHAT TO DO AND NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO FORCE THE WHEEL TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD SO SHE WAS LEFT SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH THE KIDS UNTIL THE STEERING WOULD WORK AGAIN. THE VEHICLE ALSO FAILED TO ACCELERATE APPROPRIATELY. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HER HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS MY DAUGHTERS FIRST CAR A YEAR AGO. IT LOOKS GREAT BUT HAS ISSUES. THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH FEELS LIKE IT SLIPS. THE CAR ALWAYS REVS HIGH. IT HAS DONE THIS A FEW TIMES WHILE IN MOTION AND ON THE FREEWAY TOO, SLIPS OR SPUTTERS. I'M FEARFUL FOR MY YOUNG DAUGHTER BEING LESS EXPERIENCED OF A DRIVER IN THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. POWER STEERING FAILED. THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING RACK WAS REPLACED WHICH INCLUDES THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM). THE POWER STEERING FAILURE BEGAN ON 3/1/18 AND WAS INITIALLY RESOLVED BY TURNING OFF THEN TURNING ON THE CAR. THIS WORKED FOR TWO WEEKS. COMPLETE FAILURE OCCURRED ON 3/14/18. THE PSCM IS NOT SERVICEABLE AND IS NOT A SEPARATE COMPONENT OF THE POWER STEERING RACK RESULTING IN A HIGH COST REPAIR ON A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS 35948 ORIGINAL MILES. THIS SYSTEM IS REFERRED TO AS THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING (EPAS) SYSTEM AND HAS BEEN RECALLED ON THE FORD FLEX, TAURUS, AND THE LINCOLN MKS AND MKT 2011 THROUGH 2013 MODELS, BUT NOT RECALLED ON THE FORD FOCUS EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM AND FAULTY EQUIPMENT DESIGN.
