POWER STEERING DOES NOT ENGAGE AT START UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES NOW OVER THE LAST MONTH; MOST RECENTLY THIS EVENING WHEN I WENT TO MOVE IT IN THE DRIVEWAY (AND ONLY AN HOUR AFTER ARRIVING HOME FROM A 40 MINUTE COMMUTE). THIS HAS NOT YET HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, BUT IT CONCERNS ME THAT IT COULD. THE STEERING WHEEL IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN THIS CONDITION EXISTS.
THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST IS FAILING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO RANDOMLY LOSE POWER STEERING. THIS MAKE THE VEHICLE VERY HARD TO STEER AND CONTROL. THE CAR IS A 2012 AND ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED YET OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST HAS BEEN RECALLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS STATIONARY AND WE DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR. SEEMS THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND NOW WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR, WE DON'T WANT IT TO FAIL WHILE WE ARE DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY.

ON 12/8/2017 I DROVE ME CAR DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE FROM MY HOUSE. PARKED IT IN THE GULTCH AREA. WALKED TO A RETURN. CAME BACK TO MY CAR AND THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. IT SAID CONTACT DEALER. I TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD TURN WITH GREAT EFFORT, HOWEVER I WAS PARALLEL PARKED AND THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GETTING THE CAR OUT OF THE POSITION IT WAS IN WITHOUT NEEDING A TOW TRUCK. SO I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. ONCE THERE IT TOOK THEM 5 DAYS TO TELL HOOK IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND TELL ME THAT I NEEDED ALMOST $2,300 WORTH OF REPAIRS. SO BASICALLY WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED, IT BROKE. I DECLINED SERVICE AT THE MOMENT AND AM ACTIVELY SEARCHING FOR SOLUTIONS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSTIC WAS AS FOLLOWS: "FOUND U3000-49 PSCM INTERNAL FAILURE. FOLLOWED PINPOINT TEST B AND FOUND NEEDS RACK REPLACEMENT." THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JAN 2013 FROM A CAR MAX. I PAYED FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT THEY SOLD ME AS 100,000 MIES "OVER THE PURCHASE MILAGE", TO WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO INFORM ME ACTUALLY MEANT 100,000 MILES TOTAL. I'M RIGHT AT THE 113,500 NEIGHBORHOOD. I HAVE EXACTLY TWO PAYMENTS LEFT. SO NOW NOT ONLY DO I HAVE TO BORROW OR RENT A CAR ($$$) I WILL LOOSE MONEY IF I TRADE IT IN, I HAVE TO BURDEN SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE USE OF MY CAR TO WORK. WHICH HAS AFFECTED MY ABILITY TO EARN A LIVING AND PAY MY BILLS. TOP THAT OFF WITH THE SERVICE CHARGE OF AND EXTRA $2,300 OUT OF POCKET. FORD, WE NEED TO TALK.
MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN MY WHEEL WHEN DRIVING. THE ALERT "STEER ASSIST FAILURE" APPEARED ON DASH. I HAD MY CAR TOWED INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY POWER STEERING WHICH COSTS $2000. THEY IMPLIED THAT IT WOULD BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD AS NO POWER STEERING VERY WELL WOULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SZOTT FORD (8800 E HOLLY RD, HOLLY, MI 48442, PHONE: (248) 634-4411) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS13724060. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. STEERING FAULT FAILURE BEGAN AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AT 55,000 MILES. THE ISSUE COMMENCED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND PRESENTS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. STEERING THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT BEYOND DESCRIPTION. NOW THE PROBLEM IS CHRONIC, REPAIR ESTIMATE FROM FAIR OAKS FORD IN NAPERVILLE, IL WAS $2,400.00. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS TO NHTSA AND EVIDENT ON A NUMBER OF OTHER SITES THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD BE COMPELLED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR SAFETY REASONS ALONE.
LEFT SIDE HEADLIGHT HAS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WHERE IT WORKS AND DOESN'T WORK. CHANGED THE BULB AND THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. DISCOVERED THE PLUG IN THE WIRING HARNESS THAT GOES TO THE BULB LOOKS CRACKED. THE BULB TESTS OK. THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY DAMAGE TO THIS VEHICLE RELATED TO THE HEADLIGHT ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A DIPPED BEAM FAULT COMING UP ON THE CAR.
MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS FIXED BY LOCAL FORD DEALER WHEN I THOUGHT MY TRANSMISSION WAS THE PROBLEM.THEY SUPPOSE TO FIX IT BUT WEEKS AFTER MY DASHBOARD WENT HAYWIRE AND MY RADIO STOP WORKING.I HAD TO PAY THEM CLOSE TO 200.00 FOR THE REPAIRS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LANCE CUNNINGHAM FORD AT (866) 591-3943 (4101 CLINTON HWY, KNOXVILLE, TN 37912) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTO CENTER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT WAS DIRECTED TO VOICEMAIL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.

FURTHERMORE, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR TURNED OFF AND ON. THORNHILL FORD LINCOLN (U.S. 119 NORTH 500 FORD FAIRLANE, CHAPMANVILLE, WV 25508, (304) 855-8300) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH. THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CODES INDICATED SOMETHING WRONG WITH PURGE VALVE AND SMALL EVAP LEAK. WHILE DRIVING AT 55+MPH ON A 6 LANE HIGHWAY, MY CAR STALLED AND MY BATTERY LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. BEFORE THAT HAPPENED, CAR WOULD JUST REV AND THEN JERK ME FORWARD. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY MULTIPLE VEHICLES. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!! I MADE IT TO MY MECHANIC WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY PURGE VALVE GOT STUCK OPEN CAUSING THE VACUUM SYSTEM TO SUCK MY FUEL TANK IT, ALSO CAUSING IT TO COLLAPSE. MY FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, CHARCOAL CANISTER, AND PURGE SOLENOID ALL NEEDED REPLACING. REPAIRS COST ME $1700 OUT OF POCKET, NOT TO ALSO MENTION RENTAL CAR. THIS WAS RECALLED ON FORD FUSION...WHY NOT FOCUS?! THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURIES OR FATALITIES!! I EXPECT REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL EXPENSES!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE AND THEN CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS OF DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PURGE VALE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,433.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS HAS ALREADY HAD A TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITHIN THE FIRST 42,000 MILES. SPECIFICALLY, AT 41,968. I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC WHEN THE CAR BEGAN SHUDDERING VIOLENTLY AND AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED. THE CAR COULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND IT WAS REVVING ON ITS OWN. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AMIDST HEAVY TRAFFIC BEFORE THE CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM TELL ME THAT IT WAS SIMPLY A SENSOR THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY. SINCE THEN, THE CAR STILL SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, AS WELL AS PRODUCING GRINDING NOISES AS YOU TURN. THIS IS INDICATIVE OF A CONTINUING SAFETY HAZARD. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE, I HAVE COME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION AS HUNDREDS OF OTHER FOCUS OWNERS - THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 56000 MILES, WHICH WORRIES ME BECAUSE IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED EXTREMELY SERIOUS STEERING PROBLEMS, SOME OF WHICH HAVE PROVEN TO BE FATAL. PLEASE TAKE ACTION AND DEMAND FORD FIX THESE PROBLEMS. I DON'T WANT TO DIE IN A CAR ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A RECALL. THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO AND PLEASE USE THIS AS A SIGN TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM.
NOV 27, 2017. GOT IN MY CAR AFTER WORK AND STEERING ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON. PUT HANDS ON STEERING WHEEL AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. CALLED A MECHANIC HE SAID IT WOULD BE $1800 TO FIX IT. SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO FIVE OTHER PEOPLE HE KNOWS.
TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH THIS CAR HAS STOPPED RUNNING, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON AND IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THE MOST RECENT TIME, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING BACK TO SCHOOL IN LUBBOCK, TX GOING 80 MPH WHEN IT SHUTDOWN. SHE TRIED TO PULL OVER BUT ALMOST WRECKED DUE TO THE FACT SHE HAD NO POWER BRAKES. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS ON THE INTERNET AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS DOCUMENTING THE SAME THING SHE HAD HAPPEN TO HER. WHEN SHE TOOK IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THEY OF COURSE COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE AND THEY WOULD NOT GIVE HER A LOANER OR RENTAL CAR DURING THE TIME IT TOOK THEM TO LOOK AT IT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE WITH FORD NOT HAVING A FIX. AT THIS POINT, IF I WASN'T UPSIDE DOWN ON THE CAR, I WOULD TRADE IT IN ON SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND IT WOULDN'T BE A FORD. I DIGRESS.
STARTED GETTING RANDOM STEERING ASSIST FAULTS WHEN STARTING CAR. WOULD SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTART CAR AND EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE. STARTED CAR AND TO WORK ON MONDAY MORNING WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. WENT TO START CAR AT LUNCH TIME AND GOT THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT AGAIN. TURNED OFF CAR AND RESTARTED - PROBLEM STILL THERE. NO POWER STEERING AT ALL NOW. HAD TO CAREFULLY DRIVE CAR TO DEALER WITHOUT ANY POWER STEERING. CAR IS PRESENTLY AT FORD DEALERS AWAITING SERVICE. CAR HAS ABOUT 84,000 MILES. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A RECALL FOR THE ELECTRONIC RACK AND PINION.*JS

THE DEALER ADVISED THIS WAS A RECALL AND TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. *JS
GOT STEERING ASSIST SENSOR FAULT. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE USED. THIS HAPPENED WHILE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION IN A PARKING LOT AT FIRST THEN ON THE ROAD. WAS ABLE TO TURN CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD UNLOCK STEERING WHEEL. IT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND WOULDN'T UNLOCK. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND IT COST $2000 TO FIX A SENSOR. I LOOKED UP HOW TO FIX IT MYSELF AND FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO LISTED FIX OTHER THAN TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A STEERING GEAR REPLACEMENT. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE PRIOR TO HITTING ANYTHING.
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION JERKY - MORE NOTICEABLE A FEW WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE FROM FORD DEALERSHIP VA BEACH FORD APRIL/MAY 2016. DEALER SAID IT HAD TO LEARN DRIVING STYLE, THEY ALSO UPDATED SOME SOFTWARE IN 2016 - PROVIDED NO DOCUMENTATION FOR UPDATE - AFTER UPDATE CAR SEEMED QUIETER. ALMOST 1.5YEARS LATER THE VEHICLE CUT OFF ON A BACK ROAD WITH MY HUSBAND AND 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHILST IN MOTION. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER OVERSEAS WHERE WE ARE STATIONED. IN OCTOBER 2017 THEY SWITCHED THE TCM BOX, CAR WORKED WAY BETTER. AS OF JANUARY 2020, THE SHUDDER/JERKING HAS RETURNED AND WE ALSO NOW HAVE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILURE, WE HAD ONE BEFORE WE FOUND OUT IT WAS A WARRANTY REPAIR ISSUE AND HAD A LOCAL MECHANIC REPAIR ONE OF THE REAR ONES. WAS DRIVING AND FOR SOME REASON THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOCK WOULD NOT HOLD TO CAR FRAME. DEALER HAD TO ORDER THE LOCKS TO REPLACE ON TWO FRONT DOOR POSITIONS. NOT SURE WHY THEY ARE NOT REPLACING ALL THE LOCKS. WE HAVE ALSO TOLD FORD USA, FORD USA EUROPE REPRESENTATIVE AND FORD ITALY ABOUT THE SHUDDERING RETURNING AND THEY ALL SENT US BACK TO ONE OF THE OTHER PARTIES. I BELIEVE THEY DON'T CARE ANYMORE SINCE THEY ARE IN THE HOLE. WHEN WE ASKED FORD USA FOR ASSISTANCE TOLD US THAT MILITARY AUTOSOURCE WOULD ASSIST IN ALL SERVICE RELATED ISSUES. EVEN MILITARY AUTOSOURCE HAS BACKED OUT OF TRYING TO LIFT A FINGER TO ASSIST SINCE THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE IS BIGGER THAN THEM. LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE ESSENTIALLY BEGAN TO CUT TIES WITH ANY CAR CUSTOMER OWNERS IN THE USA MARKET.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ON ONE FOURTH OF A TANK. LATER, THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED A FULL TANK WHEN THE CONTACT HAD NOT FILLED UP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED AAA WHO STATED THAT DUE TO THE INDICATORS ILLUMINATING, THE CONTACT SHOULD ADD FUEL. THE CONTACT ADDED FUEL AND THE VEHICLE STARTED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. WHEN THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, IT RESPONDED AS IF IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CONTACT CURRENTLY ADDS FUEL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IDLING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED DURING DRIVING. UNABLE TO MAKE TURNS. POWER STEERING RACK MALFUNCTIONED.
I STARTED THE CAR AND THE STEERING MALFUNCTION ASSIST LIGHT WAS ON AND THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY OUT.
STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON PERIODICALLY OVER PAST 5 THOUSAND MILES, MENTIONED DURING LAST VISIT. NOW IT CAME ON AND WON'T CLEAR. HAVE READ OF MANY PEOPLE WITH 2012 FORDS WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS IS SECOND PROBLEM WITH CAR, HAVE ALSO HAD CLUTCH REPLACED TWICE.
THE STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE MAKING A TURN THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.....I HAVE NO POWER ASSISTED STEERING
THE POWER STEERING (ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST) FAILS INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THIS OCCURS EITHER HOT OR COLD. IT OCCURS WITH VEHICLE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
Since I have had this vehicle, the message " steering assist fault" for my electronic steering has been popping up in the dash screen since as far back as 2016 when there were recalls on the Ford fusion. However, a simple fix would be to turn off the engine and restart the vehicle, and it was go away, only to return a few weeks, or a month later. I repeated the same steps. Now, it has gone out completely, a few months ago. Back then, they told me it would cost about $800, now they are saying $2500. It has occurred various times going back to 2016 until currently, which it is out. Keep in mind, this message has appeared since 2016 and I believe I have contacted you all, who told me that only the Ford Fusion, which has the same exact electrical steering system, went out and that the recall only covered the Ford Fusions models.
THE TRANSMISSION KEEPS SLOWING DOWN THE CAR. WON'T GET UP TO SPEED, CANNOT EXCEED 25MPH.
STEERING ASSIST FAILURE NOTICE APPEARED ON AND OFF FOR NEARLY A YEAR. NOTICE WOULD DISAPPEAR AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND STRAIGHTENING STEERING WHEEL. IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS THE ISSUE HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. LAST WEEK IT HAPPENED TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED.
THE METALLIC TRIM ON THE COLUMN IS PEELING, EVER SO SLIGHTLY, BUT ENOUGH TO HAVE LEFT MY KNUCKLES AND FINGERS BLOODY AND IN PAIN ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION WHEN I TURN. I ASKED THE FORD DEALER FOR HELP, HOWEVER, WAS TOLD I NEED TO SPEND $500 FOR A NEW CONSOLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD I THINK FORD SHOULD FIX. I REALLY LIKE MY CAR, BUT I AM NOT HAPPY THAT MY CAR IS CUTTING ME WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL. I HAVE TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL AND I HAVE TO TURN THE WHEEL. I PRAY I DON'T GET INTO A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT BECAUSE MY FINGERS ARE BEING SLICED WHILE I TURN. I FIRST WAS CUT IN JULY, AROUND THE 4TH AND I WASN'T SURE HOW IT HAPPENED. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 15 AND THEN SEPTEMBER 26. THEN AGAIN A FEW DAYS AGO. I HAVE TO BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS WHILE MY CAR IS IN MOTION.
MY POWER STEERING ASSIST IS COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONED VERY HARD TO STEER. VERY HARD TO TURN AND STEER WENT OUT ON ME WHILE I WAS AT THE STOP SIGN IN TOWN.
I CAN'T DRIVE THIS VECHICLE ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND SLIPS. I WOULD BE AT A STOP AND IT'S IN DRIVE BUT DOES NOT GO ANYWHERE. MY VEHICLE ROLLAS BACK AND ALMOST CAUSE A ACCIDENT. DUE TO A FAULTY POWERSHIFT DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT ON FORD BUT AS A CONSUMER I HAVE TO WAIT TEN BUSINESS DAYS TO EVEN SETTLE A CLAIM. MY LIFE IS IN DANGER BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE A VECHICLE WILL HIT ME SOON IN THE MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION. I NEED HELP FROM SOMEONE PLEASE. IM BEGGING YOU FORD HAS MADE NO ATTEMPTS TO HELP ME AND I STILL OWE 5,000 TO PAY IT OFF. WHICH THIS VECHICLE IS FAR TO LOW VALUED. IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE ASAP.
CLOSED DRIVER DOOR IN A PARKING LOT. RETURNED TO CAR TO FIND DOOR PARTIALLY OPEN. ATTEMPTED MANY TIMES TO CLOSE DOOR. DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. HAD TO MANUALLY HOLD DOOR CLOSED TO DRIVE HOME. DOOR REMAINS UNABLE TO LATCH.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAS GONE OUT, I HAD JUST STARTED THE CAR AND HAD NO POWER STEERING AND IT IS VERY HARD TO STEER, I ALMOST WRECKED TRYING TO GET IT HIOME.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IS STARTING TO FAIL. IT LOCKS THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING WHILE THE ON MY CITY STREET. NEED TO TURN OFF ENGINE AND RESTART THE CAR. SOMETIME THE STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT WHILE DRIVING AT CITY SPEEDS.THIS HAPPEN ROUGHLY 6 MONTHS AGO BUT WENT AWAY.
THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THE ANNOYING SHUDDERING. IT'S NOTICEABLE ON LIGHT ACCELERATING. SOMETIMES THE SHUDDERING IS SO BAD THAT YOU CAN'T HARDLY ACCELERATE WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR AFTER PULLING OFF AFTER YOU HAVE STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I GOT THE CAR IN OCTOBER OF 2017 I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE & THEY TOLD ME THAT'S HOW THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO DRIVE.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING WHILE DRIVING AND ALSO AT START-UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. WE ARE NOW REPORTING THIS AFTER THE 4TH OCCURRENCE.
DRIVER SEAT BELT RELEASE BUTTON STARTED TO STICK. ON 10/28/17 BUCKLE WOULD NOT RELEASE. I HAD HAVE MY SEAT BELT CUT IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. EVENT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT WHILE PARKED.
I WAS VERIFIYING ON INTERNET IF MY CAR HAD AN OPEN RECALL AND IT APPEARS THAT A DOOR LATCH WITH A FRACTURED PAWL SPRING. APPARENTLY A PREVIOUS OWNER HAD AN ISSUE WITH ONE OF THE DOOR NO CLOSING. NEED TO WORK THIS SITUATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, TRYING TO TRANSPORT MY CAR OVER SEAS IN LESS THAN A MONTH AND THEY WONT DO IT IF THE CAR HACE AN OPEN RECALL.
I STARTED MY CAR AND BEGAN PULLING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE WHEN THE CAR STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER, THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT, AND AN ERROR MESSAGE CAME ON THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAILURE SERVICE REQUIRED". I HAD NOT FULLY PULLED OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE, SO I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, AND THE MESSAGE DID NOT APPEAR WHEN I BEGAN DRIVING THE 2ND TIME. I AM VERY SCARED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER FORD CARS BEING RECALLED DUE TO THIS ISSUE FOR THE SAME YEAR, BUT NOT THE FOCUS. I HAVE ALSO SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS STEERING ASSIST FAILURE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND RECALLED FOR SAFETY OF 2012 FORD FOCUS DRIVERS, THEIR PASSENGERS, AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.

THIS IS A 5 YEAR OLD CAR. WITH 750000 MILES ON IT. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAS ALREADY DIED COSTING UP $2K IN MONEY WE DON'T HAVE TO FIX IT. THE FIX IS REPLACING THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION. WE HAD STARTED FOR THE FIRST TIME THE DAY IT WENT OUT. WE WERE PARKED I HAD TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO POWER STEERING. IF YOU SHUT OF THE CAR IT WOULD TEMPORARILY FIX IT'S SELF. AND IT DID THE GUY AT THE DEALER SHUT IT DOWN AFTER SEEING THE NO STEERING ASSIST WHEN HE RESTARTED THE CAR IT MAGICALLY WORKED AGAIN. UNTIL NEXT TIME THAT IS. FORD KNOWS THIS PROBLEM EXIST AND REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR ALL 2012 FOCUS. THIS IS A NEW CAR IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. PUTTING US IN FINANCIAL STRAIN.
SYNC MODULE FAILED. COSTING $1000 TO FIX. A SMOG PART FAILURE RESULTED IN FORD WANTING 2000 TO REPAIR AND REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. THE CLUTCH FAILS TO ENGAGE ON LOW SPEED TURNS CREATING A LOSS OF CONTROL. FORD FIXED WITH THE RECALL. STEERING FAULT DETECTED MAKING IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE CAR. RECALL IS AVAILABLE ON OTHER MODELS BUT NOT FOCUS. ANOTHER 1000 TO FIX IT. FORD IS UNSAFE!
HORN HAS STOPPED WORKING. RADIO CRACKLING WHEN CAR ON AND OFF, IN MOTION AND WHEN STILL, DOES NOT WORK.
MY ELECTRICAL STEERING IS ACTING UP, MAKING A WEIRD NOISE AFTER I START MY CAR, IS STIFF AT TIMES AND HARD TO TURN. I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE, " STEERING ASSIST, SERVICE REQUIRED" ON THE DASH RECENTLY. THAT MESSAGE HAS GONE, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS THIS IS A DANGER TO ME WHEN I DRIVE. WHENEVER I START MY CAR, THE STEERING IS RIGID AND STIFF IN THE CITY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRANDON FORD (9090 E ADAMO DR, TAMPA, FL 33619, (813) 246-3673) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FRACTURED, WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO COLLAPSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
AT LEAST 4 TIMES IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, UPON STARTING THE CAR THERE WAS THE MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. IT WENT AWAY AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED: IF IT HAPPENED ANY TIME OTHER THAN WHEN PARKED THIS COULD BE FATAL.
