TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 20 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE AUDIBLE DOOR SENSOR ACTIVATED. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE DOOR FAILED TO LATCH. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,100.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 65MPH ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. NO POWER STEERING AND NO POWER BRAKES. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN TRIED TO RESTART VIOLENT SHAKING. TOWED TO FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. NOT DIAGNOSED YET AFTER 2 DAYS. THIS CAR IS A LEMON. HAD TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES REPLACED TWICE. HAD TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED WHEN IT FAILED. HAVE CONTINUOUS WHEEL BEARING NOISE THAT WAS BROUGHT INTO DEALER UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY NEVER SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE NO CLUE WHY THESE VEHICLES (INCLUDING THE 2011 FOCUS, AND 2011 & 2012 FIESTAS) HAVE NOT BEEN OFFICIALLY RECALLED. I HAVE NOW TAKEN MY CAR IN 8 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCHED REPLACED TWICE (25K MILES APART BETWEEN 2 AMD 3) AND HAD THE COMPUTER REBOOTED 3 TIMES. THE CARS SHUTTER, SHAKE, STALL, HAVE A POOR RESPONSE (ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED TO FLOOR IT FOR SAFETY) AND NOTHING! I CONTACTED FORD AND PRETTY MUCH TOLD ME TOUGH, IT IS WHAT IT IS. THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE AS A NEW SYSTEM CANNOT BE INSTALLED AND REALLY CRAPPY PARTS ARE BEING USED AS A CHEAP ALTERNATIVE. MY CAR IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DOOR LATCH PAW SPRING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), WITHOUT THE CUSTOMER'S KNOWLEDGE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THERE WERE NO ADDITIONAL FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
TANAKA RECALL: I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION THAT MY CAR WAS RECALLED DUE TO DEFECTIVE TANAKA AIR BAGS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP (HALDEMAN FORD IN ALLENTOWN, PA) THAT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THEY RECEIVED THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR. PERIODICALLY, I INQUIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE REPAIR, BUT WAS TOLD EACH TIME THAT THEY STILL HAD NOT RECEIVED THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR. I AGAIN INQUIRED RECENTLY AND WAS AGAIN TOLD I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE REQUIRED PARTS ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS ONE YEAR AND TWO MONTHS SINCE I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION AND STILL THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. I HAVE JUST BEEN NOTIFIED THAT TANAKA WAS FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY. IT NOW APPEARS THAT THE PARTS MAY NEVER BE AVAILABLE AND I WILL BE REQUIRED TO DRIVE AROUND WITH DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS AIRBAGS WITH NO LEGAL RECOURSE TO SUE TANAKA FOR DAMAGES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. FORD SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE STEPS TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS TO PROTECT THE SAFETY OF ITS CUSTOMERS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF FORD AND ITS DEALERSHIPS.
THE DOOR WONT SHUT ANYMORE, IT FLEW OPEN! I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MADE A HARD TURN THE DOOR FLEW OPEN ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR. NOW IT WONT STAY SHUT AT ALL, CALLED FORD THEY SAID $400-$500 TO FIX IT! I SAY HELL NO!
DOOR LATCH FAILURE: DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHILE DRIVING.
IN JUNE 2016 MY DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH BROKE AND MY DOOR WOULD FLY OPEN AS I DROVE IT. I WAS INFORMED THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE FORD FOCUS 2012. I PAID THE $385 FOR REPAIRS. YESTERDAY MY PASSENGER DOOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM GETTING NOWHERE BY CALLING THE NATIONAL FORD NUMBER AND I AM GETTING NOWHERE WITH OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP. SOME FORD MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED, BUT NOT MINE. I AM FEARFUL TO HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. WHO KNOWS WHEN THE BACK DOORS ARE GOING TO BREAK SINCE BOTH FRONT DOORS HAVE BROKEN?! FORTUNATELY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT BOTH TIMES THE DOORS BROKE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT DRIVING HOME 30 MILES WHILE HOLDING A DOOR SHUT.
AUG 2015 - DRIVERS DOOR FLUNG OPEN WHILE MAKING A TURN...UNABLE TO CLOSE DOOR AND HAD TO TIE SHUT TO GET CAR TO DEALER, CAR HAD 88K MILES. DEALER DETERMINED LATCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED IT UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY - CUSTOMER PAY DEDUCTIBLE. REPAIRED AT JORDAN FORD IN SAN ANTONIO TX, AUG 2015, WORK ORDER #90121 29 AUG 2016, SAME CAR, FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FLUNG OPEN DURING SLOW SPEED LEFT TURN, LUCKILY NO PASSENGER IN CAR, CAR HAD 105K MILES. DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT AND WAS TIED SHUT AND TAKEN TO DEALER WHO STATED LATCH WAS BROKEN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED $780 COST AS CAR WAS OUTSIDE 100K MILEAGE ON EXTENDED WARRANTY. SAME DEALER USED FOR REPAIRS, WORK ORDER NUMBER UNAVAILABLE AS CAR IS STILL BEING REPAIRED.
POWER STEERING FAILURE- STARTED WITH EVERYONCE IN A WHILE ID GET THE ERROR NOTICE OF POWER STEERING FAILURE SO I WOULD TURN OFF THE CAR START IT BACK UP AND FINE, IT STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY TO THE IMBARRASSING POINT OF HAVING TO TURN ON AND OFF THE CAR 5-10 TIMES JUST TO HAVE POWER STEERING, THEN I GOT A LETTER TO UPDATE MY CAR'S SOFTWARE TO HELP FIX THE POWER STEERING ISSUE, I GOT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE AND 3 MONTHS LATER TOTAL FAILURE, I NOW HAVE ZERO POWER STEERING AND NOW FORD WANTS ME TO PAY $2200 TO FIX IT, WHEN IT FAILED I ALMOST CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR WITH MY KIDS IN MY CAR ON THE FREEWAY, NEEDLESS TO SAY WE ARE GREATFUL TO BE ALIVE, SAD THING IS ALL OTHER MODELS FROM 2011-2012 WITH THE SAME EXACT POWER STEERING SYSTEM GET A RECALL WHY NOT THE FOCUS? I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN BEFORE I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THE CAR, FORD IS A SCAM AND DOESNT BACK UP ITS PRODUCT, THE POWER STEERING IS BROKE BECAUSE OF THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT
DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILURE. DOOR DOES NOT SHUT CLOSE AND LATCH AND DOES NOT LOCK. DOOR HAS TO BE TIED DOWN FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE DRIVING. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING! IT OCCURRED WHEN I WEN TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE BACK SEAT AND UPON ATTEMPTING TO SHUT THE DOOR....NOTHING! THE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT AND REMAINED OPEN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME A DOOR LATCH ON THIS SAME VEHICLE HAS FAILED. JUST 2 MONTHS AGO THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH FAILED AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE AS WITH THIS ONE. FORTUNATELY THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN INJURY OR WORSE A DEATH DO TO THIS FAULTY LATCH MECHANISM. BY THE WAY, THE FIRST DOOR LATCH COST ME $550 TO REPAIR AND I AM HOLDING OFF ON REPAIRING THIS DOOR LATCH UNTIL THERE IS A RECALL AS WITH 2 OTHER FORD MODEL CARS THAT USED THE SAME LATCHES. PLEASE RECALL THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FAILURE PROGRESSED IN WHICH THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE DOOR TO BE OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION SEVERAL TIMES. THE PASSENGER IN THE REAR HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR SHUT DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND MAY BECOME AVAILABLE IN MID OCTOBER OF 2016. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO USE A BUNGIE CORD TO SECURE THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A MORE REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SUPPLY THE PART TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,484.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING AND WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. THE LOCAL DEALER REPORTS DOOR LATCH FAILURE AS THE CAUSE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER MODELS (FIESTA, FUSION, ETC). FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD ALSO RECALL THIS PART ON THE 2012 FOCUS MODEL AS IT'S AN OBVIOUS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DOOR WILL OPEN WHILE DRIVING.
RECENTLY I'VE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE STARTER. THE DASH STATED THE CAR BATTERY WAS LOW, I HAVE THE CAR TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE BATTERY IS TESTING THAT IT IS GOOD. THE CAR WILL START IN THE MORNINGS AFTER RESTING AND I DON'T DRIVE AS MUCH AS JUST TO BE SAFE WHILE I TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THIS CAR. I'VE HAD THIS CAR FIXED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR, ONCE FOR THE CUSTOMER SURVEY SATISFACTION (NOT A RECALL FORD TOLD ME) TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FIXED, ANOTHER TO HAVE THE STEERING MODULE REPLACED AND A THIRD TIME TO HAVE THE CLUTCHES REPLACED AND THAT WAS DONE BY A DEALERSHIP TO STOP THE LURCHING AND JERKING THAT THE CAR DOES. I'M AMAZED AT THE CALLOUSNESS OF A COMPANY THAT COMPLETELY IGNORES THE PLEAS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALMOST CRASHED IN THEIR VEHICLES! NO REGARD FOR THEIR CONSUMERS WHAT SO EVER!! I PROMISE THIS WILL BE THE FIRST & LAST FORD VEHICLE THAT I EVER BUY.
THE DOOR LATCH ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS BROKEN AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO CLOSE. I CANNOT LOCK THE CAR DOOR OR SHUT IT. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT "POPS" BACK OPEN. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHILE TURNING. I WAS DRIVING AND THE DOOR SUDDENLY OPENED BY ITSELF WHEN MAKING A TURN, DUE TO THE BROKEN LATCH.
WHILE DRIVING ON I-75 FROM ATLANTA TO TAMPA MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR JUST FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DOING ABOUT 70MPH. THANKFULLY NOBODY WAS NEXT TO ME AT THE TIME AND I HAD TWINE IN MY CAR TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT.
CAR DOOR RANDOMLY STOPPED LATCHING. SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, ONCE IN MOTION AND ONCE NOT IN MOTION. TERRIFYING AND FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE. ONE REPAIR HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR, COSTING 450 DOLLARS. HUGE SAFETY HAZZARD, ESPECIALLY DUE TO THE RANDOMNESS OF IT.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT A VERY HIGH SPEED, THE VEHICLE DIED SUDDENLY, AND SHE WAS FORCED TO "GLIDE" INTO THE MEDIAN. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THE TRANS MODULE IS ON A "REPLACEMENT PROGRAM", AND THAT THE MODULE IS ON BACK ORDER. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD RENT A CAR BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING I COULD DO. MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHEN I REMINDED THE GENTLEMAN THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS TOLD THAT ITS REALLY NOT A CONCERN.
WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE MY PASSENGER DOOR HAD SWUNG OPEN
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAME OPEN ON ITS OWN, IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES, IT DOES NOT LATCH, AND IS VERY DANGEROUS.
WHILE TRAVELING HOME FROM WORK, MY CAR STALLED BRIEFLY ON MAIN STREET. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO GET MY CAR OUT OF THE STREET. I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND RESUMED DRIVING. I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION AND GOT IN THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULD RUN GO ANYWHERE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID TO BRING IT TO THEIR SHOP FOR A DIAGNOSIS. I WAS ON THE WAY TO TAKE MY 2012 FORD FOCUS TITANIUM TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT EMPIRE FORD IN ABINGDON, VA. THEY STATED THE CAR WOULD BE OK TO DRIVE IF I COULD GET THE VEHICLE TO GO FORWARDS. I WAS TRAVELING 65 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT ON THE INTERSTATE. I TRIED TO GIVE THE CAR FUEL AND BEGAN PRESSING THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. SPEED LIMIT IS 70 AND 70-75 MPH CARS WERE COMING TOWARDS ME. I WAS FORCED TO CROSS OVER THE ON RAMP WHERE CARS WERE MERGING ON TO THE INTERSTATE TO GET TO THE EMERGENCY SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS A PRETTY SCARY EVENT AND I FELT THAT MY LIFE WAS PUT IN DANGER. SO, NOW FORD IS SAYING THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BUT FIX THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE). THERE IS NO FIX!!!! IF THERE WAS, I FEEL LIKE IT WOULD HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED. SO I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FIVE TIMES NOW FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IT IS CLEARLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE IN ORDER FOR FORD TO SEE THERE IS NOT A FIX FOR THESE MODELS, SOMEONE LOSING THEIR LIFE?
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION MAKING A LEFT TUN WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR FLEW OPEN. MY DOG WAS IN HIS CRATE IN THE BACK SEAT AND ALMOST FLEW OUT. I PULLED OVER AND COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO LATCH. I'VE HAD TO TIE IT DOWN BECAUSE I CAN NOT AFFORD $600 TO PAY TO GET THIS FIXED. PLEASE FORD RECALL THIS MODEL SO I DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND IN THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE.
DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE IN TRANSIT. DRIVER MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND THE D/S DOOR OPENED AND WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED AFTER THAT. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY QUOTED ME $500 TO FIX. LOOKED UP RECALLS AND THERE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH FORD VEHICLES FOR DOOR LATCHES, YET NO OFFICIAL RECALL ON THE FORD FOCUS.
DOOR LATCH ON BOTH FRONT AND REAR DOORS FAILS TO OPERATE. DOORS CANNOT CLOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ,AND THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH FAILED. THE DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 49,000 MILES ON IT. ALL SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE IS UP TO DATE.
CAR FRONT DRIVER DOOR WON'T LATCH, IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY DRIVER DOOR JUST WIDELY OPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES AN HOUR!!! FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE SPECIFIC MODEL BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED FOR THE RECALL! IT'S VERY DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE, I FEEL IN DANGER WHEN I NEED TO HOLD THE DOOR WHEN DRIVING BECAUSE THE DOOR OPENS WIDE WHEN I MAKE A RIGHT TURN.
AS OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2016, 3 TIMES WITHIN PAST 2 WEEKS AFTER STARTING VEHICLE GET ERROR MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. AFTER TURNING OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTING THE ERROR HAS BEEN CLEARED. CONCERNED OF TOTAL FAILURE WHICH LOOKS TO BE ~$2000 TO REPAIR OR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING, ON NHTSA WEBISTE THERE ARE 254 STEERING COMPLAINTS FOR 2012 FOCUS, AROUND 50 FOR 2013 FOCUS AND 50 FOR 2014 FOCUS. THERE WERE 5 COMPLAINTS FOR 2011 FOCUS WHICH IS LAST MODEL THAT DID NOT HAVE EPAS STEERING. CLEARLY THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THIS EPAS STEERING SYSTEM, AM HOPING FORD DOES THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THIS TO ALLEVIATE UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS AND POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM.
DRIVER'S FRONT DOOR INOPERABLE, WON'T LATCH AT ALL. DOOR REMAINS UNLATCHED, EVEN WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION (FORWARD OR REVERSE) AFTER ALL OTHER DOORS LATCH/LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECAME UNSAFE, SINCE THE DOOR CAN/WILL SWING OUTWARD INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THAT BECAME A HIGH RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT. DOOR HAD TO BE TIED MANUALLY, TO KEEP IT FROM OPENING, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE DOOR LATCHES (REAR PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER SIDE) ON THE VEHICLE BECAME STUCK OPEN/LOCKED. ONE OCCURRENCE RESULTED IN THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR FULLY OPENING WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE OTHER INCIDENT (8/24/2016) INVOLVED NOT BEING ABLE TO CLOSE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR, LATCH WAS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION AND WOULD NOT ALLOW FOR FULL CLOSURE.
DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH FAILED WHILE PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE LEFT REAR DOOR OPEN LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. TRIED TO CLOSE DOOR BUT THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSE LEAVING VEHICLE NON OPERABLE. FORD SAYS MY VIN IS NOT COVERED IN THE ATTACHED RECALL NOTICE, ALTHOUGH IT MEETS ALL CRITERIA OF NOTICE. ALSO LOCAL FORD DEALER WAS NOT ABLE PROCURE NEW PART BECAUSE OF AVAILABILITY. CUSTOMER SERVICE JUST SAID THEY WERE SORRY. I NOW HAVE AN INOPERABLE VEHICLE AND BY EVERY INDICATION IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY. OTHER WISE IT WILL COST ME OVER $400.00 TO HAVE THIS FIXED IF THEY EVER ARE ABLE TO GET THE PART.
MY DOOR LATCH STOPPED WORKING ON MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, SEEMINGLY OUT OF NOWHERE. I NOTICED THE ISSUE WHEN I HAD PARKED AT WORK AND THE DOOR WAS NOT STAYING SHUT AFTER LOCKING IT.
TODAY I WAS GOING HOME FROM WORK AND MY DOOR OPENED AND CLOSED WAY TOO FAST BUT I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT SO I JUST KEPT DRIVING. AS I DROVE OFF THE DOOR SWINGS OPEN ON ME. WELL I STOPPED TO TAKE A LOOK AT ALL OF MY DOORS AND THEN THE BACK DRIVERS DOOR JAMMED ON ME AND WOULDN'T CLOSE. SO I TIED A ROPE TO THE DOOR TO HOLD IT TIGHT AND I HELD THE FONT DRIVERS DOOR AS I DROVE HOME FOR 1 HOUR! I MANAGED TO UNJAM THE BACK DOOR BUT MY CAR IS UNABLE TO CLOSE IN THE FRONT SO NOW I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A DEAD BATTERY IN THE MORNING. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR WHEN I HAVE SEEN THIS COMPLAINT FOR OVER 400,000 FORD FOCUS CARS! DRIVER'S DOOR FLEW OPEN ALMOST HITTING ONCOMING TRUCK WHILE DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. FORD DEALER COULD NOT GUARANTEE SAME DAY FIX, LOCAL MECHANIC HAD TO ORDER PART, ENTIRE DOOR MECHANISM PLUS LABOR $450 AND ONE MISSED DAY OF WORK.
TAKATA RECALL THE DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVER SIDE UNEXPECTEDLY STOP LATCHING SHUT. WAS PARKING THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT LOCK OR CLOSE. THE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT BOUNCES BACK AND DOES NOT LATCH SHUT. HAD HOLD THE DOOR SHUT IN ORDER TO DRIVE HOME. RESEARCHED FORD FOR RECALLS AND FOUND THAT THE 2012 FORD FIESTA AND THE 2012 FORD FUSION WERE RECALLED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP BULBS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE IMMEDIATELY RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

WE HAVE HAD OUR 2012 FORD FOCUS FOR 3 YEARS. IN THE LAST YEAR, THE DOOR LATCH THAT KEEPS THE DOOR SHUT, HAS BROKEN! THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED JUNE 2015. WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT AND OUR PASSENGER TRIED TO CLOSE HER DOOR (BACK LEFT) AND IT WOULDN'T STAY SHUT. UNFORTUNATELY, SHE HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR UNTIL WE MADE IT HOME SAFELY. WE DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AT THE TIME, WE FIGURED SHE'D PROBABLY SLAMMED IT TOO HARD OR GOT THE SEAT BELT STUCK. WE PURCHASED THE PART FOR $120 AND DECIDED TO FIX IT OURSELVES SINCE THE DEALERSHIP WAS CHARGING $600! FAST FORWARD TO TWO DAYS AGO. WE WERE ON OUR WAY BACK HOME WHEN MY HUSBAND TURNED LEFT AND THE BACK RIGHT DOOR SWUNG WIDE OPEN! OUR 15 MONTH OLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE BACK, AND I FRANTICALLY TOLD MY HUSBAND TO PULL OVER, THINKING THAT MAYBE SOMEHOW HE MIGHT'VE OPENED IT- ALTHOUGH HIS CAR SEAT REAR FACES AND ITS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REACH THE HANDLE SINCE HIS CAR SEAT IS IN THE MIDDLE. WE PULLED OVER, AND AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO SHUT IT, WE FINALLY REALIZED WHAT WAS GOING ON.THE LATCH HAD BROKEN AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME ON A DIFFERENT DOOR! WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT'S NOT ON RECALL.THEY WERE ANYTHING BUT HELPFUL OR UNDERSTANDING! I DON'T GET WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE AFTER GOING ONLINE, I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT ABOUT THE EXACT VEHICLE! THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY! HOW MANY INCIDENTS NEED TO HAPPEN BEFORE IT IS RESOLVED? DOES SOMEONE NEED TO DIE? I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON A CAR THAT'S ONLY 4 YEARS OLD! NEEDLESS TO SAY, MY HUSBAND AND I WILL NO LONGER BE BUYING A FORD EVER AGAIN AND WILL BE GETTING RID OF OURS, AS WE DO NOT FEEL THAT IT IS SAFE FOR OUR FAMILY. NOR DO WE WANT TO STICK AROUND AND HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL FOUR DOOR LATCHES, SHOULD THEY BREAK AGAIN.

GOOD THING NO ONE WAS IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS OCCURRED OR THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN DEVASTATING. I'M HOPING THERE WILL BE A RECALL FOR THE DOOR LATCH SOON.
LEFT SIDE REAR DOOR FLEW OPEN ON A TURN, (SURPRISED) PULLED OVER TO CLOSE DOOR BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I AM NOW DRIVING AROUND WITH THE DOOR STRAPPED CLOSED. WENT TO A FORD DEALER TO GET FIXED BUT THE COST IS TOO HIGH FOR ME RIGHT NOW. VERY DANGEROUS AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A NEWER CAR.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. HAPPENED 4-5 TIMES WHEN I START THE CAR. POWER STEERING WILL NOT WORK AND I GET A MESSAGE THAT "STEERING ASSIST SERVICE" NEEDED. TURNING THE CAR OFF, RESTARTING USUALLY FIXES THE PROBLEM BUT I WORRY WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF IT FAILS AT 70 MPH IN TRAFFIC. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE ON THE WEB. I AM SURPRISED FORD HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS VERY COMMON PROBLEM.
WHEN I COME TO A STOP....AND THEN HAVE TO START UP AGAIN...THE CAR DOESN'T PICK UP THE SPEED. IT STUTTERS AND WILL NOT GET MOVING FOR A BIT. AND THEN IT DOES. SOMETIMES SCARY AS I AM TURING INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC AND CAN'T GET MOVING. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AFTER STOPPING. ON A FEW OCCASIONS IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, LIKE IT HAS LOST A CONNECTION.
MY SON AND I WERE LEAVING A STORE IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS AND HAD JUST BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARD JUST AN INCH AND LUNGED FORWARD AND WE FELT A "BUMP". GOT OUT OF THE CAR AT THAT POINT TO SEE IF I HAD HIT SOMETHING OR IF SOMETHING WAS UNDER THE CAR-THERE WAS NOTHING. GOT BACK IN, BUCKLED UP AND TRIED TO GO AND THE DASH LIT UP WITH "TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION" I BELIEVE IT SAID AND WOULDN'T GO AT ALL. I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND FROM THAT POINT THE CAR DASH SCREEN SAID "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW." I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CALLED MY HUSBAND IN TEARS TO COME AND GET US. I JUST GOT THIS CAR A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND I ENDED UP WITH A LEMON. AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR I NOTICED IT BECOMING MORE AND MORE JERKY AND LURCHING AND/OR ROLLING BACK. IT WAS A PROGRESSIVE THING, CONSTANTLY GETTING WORSE UNTIL FINALLY IT JUST GAVE. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOW FOR TWO WEEKS AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING TO RELY ON SHARING MY HUSBAND'S VEHICLE AND RIDES FROM OTHERS AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE PART IS ON BACKORDER. THE LATEST IS THAT WHEN MY HUSBAND CALLED LAST WEEK, HE WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS ON EMERGENCY BACKORDER. WHEN ASKED ABOUT A TIME FRAME, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA. IT COULD BE THREE DAYS, TWO WEEKS, OR A MONTH-WHO KNOWS? I AM BEYOND UPSET AND DISGUSTED!!!!!! I AM PAYING A CAR PAYMENT FOR A CAR THAT ISN'T DRIVEABLE, HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED, AND APPARENTLY THEY CANNOT GET THE PARTS. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!
