EVER SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW, THE VEHICLE HAS SHUDDERED AND HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES. FOR DIS REFUSING TO FIX THE ISSUE. I WAS LEFT STRANDED ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THE TCM HAD TO BE REPLACED. PCM AND TCM HAVE BEEN REPROGRAMMED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED IN IT 3 OR 4 TIMES AS WELL. FORD KEEPS SAYING THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND HOW IT SHOULD OPERATE THE SHUDDER AND JERKIGN HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN TAKING OFF FROMA STOP LIKE AT A STOP LIGHT
FOR THREE YEARS FROM 2013 TO CURRENT I REPORTED MY CAR HAVING INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL ISSUES WHERE MY POWER STEERING WOULD JUST FAIL AND MY SPEEDOMETER WOULD CEASE TO FUNCTION THIS COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY.... I REPORTED THIS TO FORD AND OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS HAD THE ISSUE INSPECTED BUT THEY COULD NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE.. NOW THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT SAY IT IS DUE TO FAULTY CENSORS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
SINCE OWNING MY 2012 FORD FOCUS,I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.ON THREE SEPARATE TIMES THE CAR HAD TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONS THAT CAUSED NEAR MISS SITUATIONS OF BEING REAR ENDED CAUSE OF MY ABRUPT CHANGE OF SPEED.ONE TIME THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 10 MPH,ANOTHER TIME IT WAS 20MPH MAX,AND ONE TIME IT DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL.MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK SEAT ON TWO OF THOSE OCCASIONS.LUCKILY NO INJURIES RESULTED FROM THIS BUT NEARLY DID CAUSE ACCIDENTS.ONE TIME THE DEALERSHIP COVERED THE COST OF REPAIR,SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP COVERED PART OF THE COST,THE THIRD TIME I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE $7000 MYSELF.AFTER THE REPLACEMENT A FEW MONTHS LATER THE TRANSMISSION STILL ACTS UP BY SLIPPING STUTTERING AND JERKING.THIS CURRENT PROBLEM IS VERY FRUSTRATING.FORD KNOWING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THERE CONTINUED TO MANUFACTURE AND SELL THESE FORD FOCUS AND FIESTA MODELS WITHOUT CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE.
LOUD STATIC SOUNDS COMING FROM DASH. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. EXTREMELY LOUD. TODAY CAN SMELL BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE STATIC NOISE SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN CAR IS PARKED OR JUST AFTER PARKING VEHICLE AND ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FLUNG OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE MAKING A TURN ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT LESS THAN 10MPH. 2012 FOCUS TITANIUM HAD APPROXIMATELY 52,000 MILES AT TIME OF INCIDENT.
ON THE 6/9/2016 AND ON THE 6/12/2016 I WENT OUT TO START MY CAR, AN INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAY STIRRING ASSISTANT OR SYSTEM, IT DOES IT VERY FAST, FAILURE. THEN THE STIRRING WHEEL BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I COULDN'T LEAVE MY DRIVE WAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SUDDENLY OPENED. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THAT DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK OR REMAIN CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED IN REFERENCE TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR TO TAKE OUT A FEW GROCERIES, AND WHEN I WAS GOING TO SHUT THE DOOR, IT JUST BOUNCED BACK. NOW IT JUST WON'T CLOSE AT ALL, (IT WON'T LATCH ON) AND I HAVE TO TIE IT DOWN.

THE CONTACT HAD A PASSENGER THAT HELD THE DOOR SECURED MEANWHILE THE VEHICLE IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH MECHANISM FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD, THE LATCH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR SUDDENLY BROKE AND THE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. SIMILAR ISSUES LED TO RECALLS IN THE FIESTA, BUT NOT YET THE FOCUS.
DOOR LATCHE ON DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY 178 THE DRIVERS DOOR CAME OPEN AND WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE DOOR LATCHES. I THEN LOOKED ON SAFE CAR AND FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN OTHER INCIDENTS OF THE SAME NATURE. I TOOK MY 2012 FORD FOCUS TO THE DEALER TO BE EVALUATED AND THEY SAID THE DOOR LATCH WAS BAD. I F THERE HAS BEEN SO MANY INCIDENTS WHY ISN'T A RECALL BEEN ISSUED.
DRIVE SIDE DOOR WILL NOT STAY LATCHED. DOOR SWINGS OPEN WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. DOOR MUST BE SECURED WITH A BUNGIE CORD. FORD REFUSES TO PAY FOR DAMAGE CITING I NOT BEING THE FIRST OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. ONE WEEK AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. PART IS ON ORDER. FORD IS NOT CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS!
DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCH (DRIVER SIDE). DOOR LATCH DOES NOT ENGAGE AND "LOCK" CLOSED TO SECURE DOOR. DOOR REMAINS OPEN AT ALL TIMES. MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WENT TO START HER CAR FOR SCHOOL THIS MORNING AND NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT. UPON INVESTIGATION I NOTICED THAT THE LATCH WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND REMAINED IN THE "OPEN" POSITION AT ALL TIMES.
FAILED DOOR LATCH ON DRIVERS DOOR. WAS PULLING OUT AND CHIME SOUNDED INDICATING DOOR WAS AJAR. TRIED TO CLOSE BUT LATCH WAS NOT ENGAGING. HAD TO DRIVE HOME WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR TO PREVENT IT FROM FLYING OPEN IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS MY 2ND LATCH INCIDENT IN FIVE MONTHS. I HAD THE PASSENGER DOOR REPAIRED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TWICE ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 35,000 MILES (OR ANY MILEAGE). FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND ISSUE A RECALL.
THE DRIVER REAR DOOR LATCH STOPPED WORKING. I OPENED THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE LIKE NORMAL AND THEN CLOSED IT. STARTED MY CAR TO LEAVE MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT INDICATING THAT MY DRIVER REAR DOOR WAS OPEN. I THEN PROCEEDED TO TRY AND GET IT TO LATCH WITH NO PREVAIL. I TALKED WITH A FRIEND AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS MY LATCH THAT WAS BAD AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL WITH THE FUSION AND FIESTA MODELS.
ON 6/82016 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE EARLY MORNING , AS I ACCELERATED FORWARD WHILE TURNING THE CORNER AT A ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ZONE, A STEERING ASSIST FAULT ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THEN I LOST ALL STEERING AND I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL TO AVOID THE SMALL CHILDREN AND PARENTS THAT WERE AT THE CORNER WAITING FOR ME TO PASS.I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND AVOIDED A LIFE CHANGING TRAGEDY. I TOWED THE CAR TO SANTA MARGARITA FORD WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING BOX FAILED AND THE REPAIR WAS GOING TO BE $1,895. I CALLED FORD AND TALKED TO ALEX (CASE # TAS-9779156-D5J4Q5) WHO TOOK MY REPORT , CHECKED AND QUICKLY RETURNED WITH BAD NEWS THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I ASKED HIM IF SOMEONE NEEDED TO DIE FOR FORD TO TAKE RESPOSIBLITY FOR THIS UNSAFE SYSTEM, BUT GOT NO REPLY.
I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE START. I'VE HAD THE TRANS CONTROL MODULE REPLACED TWICE. PROBLEMS INCLUDE DELAYED STARTS, SHUTTERING WHEN SHIFTING, REVVING HIGH WHEN ABOUT TO SHIFT, OR STICKING IN GEAR AND NOT SHIFTING WHEN IT SHOULD. I KEPT TAKING IT IN, AND EACH TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND A CODE, SO THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE TCM, WHEN MY CAR JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE LANE, DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY. I COULDN'T GET IT TO MOVE, SO I SHUT IT OFF, THEN IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. IT TOOK EMERGENCY VEHICLES TO GET ME TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE OF ALL THE TRAFFIC WHIZZING BY. THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED IT, I WAS ON VACATION, AND MY CAR KEPT STICKING IN GEAR, BUT THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON THIS TIME SO THEY HAD A CODE TO GO BY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WE HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT SUSPENSION REPAIRED 3 TIMES IN THE FIRST 5,000 MILES. THERE WAS A MAJOR KNOCKING SOUND AND YOU COULD FEEL MOVEMENT IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE CAR WAS TRANSISTIONING OVER A SPEED BUMP OR INTO A DRIVEWAY. RIGHT AFTER THIS WAS FIXED, AFTER THE THIRD REPLACEMENT OF THE SAME PARTS, THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPAIRED 4 TIMES, 3 TIMES THE CLUTCH PACK FAILED WHICH HAPPENED REGULARLY EVERY 10,000-12,500 MILES. THE CAR WOULD JERK VIOLENTLY DURING START OF MOVING AND THEN THE CLUTCH WOULD SLIP WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED. THE CLUTCH PACK WAS REPLACED 3 TIMES. THE LAST TIME THE TRANSMISSION JUST FAILED TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR, FORWARD OR REVERSE, THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING IN A PARKING LOT. WE ARE AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN DRIVING ON THE STREET, THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, GETTING ON OR DRIVING ON A FREEWAY. THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT, THEY SAID THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SHOWED A FAILURE CODE, THEY RESET THE CODE AND THEN STATED THERE WAS NO PORBLEM. WHEN ASKED WHY THE PART THAT THE FAILURE CODE SAID WAS BAD WAS NOT REPLACED THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND JUST DRIVE THE CAR. IF IT FAILS AGAIN HAVE THE CAR TOWED IN AND THEY WILL CHECK AGAIN.
DOOR LATCHES ON BOTH DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOORS HAVE BROKEN IN THE PAST 9 MONTHS. THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEMS WITH OTHER FORD MODELS, HOWEVER, THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS AN ISSUE WITH FORD FOCUS. THE DOOR LATCH BREAKS FOR NO REASON AND PUTS DRIVER AND PASSENGERS AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH. THE FILE ATTACHED IS THE ORIGINAL COMPLAINT ISSUED TO FORD IN SEPTEMBER 2015.
DOOR LATCH BROKEN. DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILS TO LATCH. DOOR OPENED NORMALLY THEN TRIED TO CLOSE DOOR AFTER TAKING SEAT. DOOR MADE A BANG AND I CLOSED IT AND IT BOUNCED OPEN. TRIED CLOSING AND AGAIN AND NOTICE IT WOULD NOT LATCH. HAD TO USE ROPE TO TIE DOOR CLOSED TO GET TO WORK.
POWER STEERING FAULT SERVICE ASSISTANT
CAME OUT OF THE STORE, LOADED GROCERIES INTO CAR, OPENED DRIVER DOOR AND GOT IN. TRIED TO CLOSE DOOR AND IT BOUNCED BACK OPEN. ATTEMPTED TO RESET THE DOOR LATCH, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED. DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE. SHOWS DOOR AJAR WARNING UNLESS I PUSH IT VERY HARD AND LEAVE IT.
DOOR LATCHES NOT WORKING. FIRST STARTED WITH RIGHT REAR DOOR FAILURE, THEN MIGRATED TO DRIVER'S DOOR FLYING OPEN ON DRIVER WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. FORD WILL NOT COVER THIS BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE DRIVER DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING. DOOR LATCH BROKEN. I HAD THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR TWO MONTH AGO DO THE SAME THING WITH SOMEONE IN THE FRONT SEAT AT THE TIME THIS HAPPEN. I FILLED A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR DEPARTMENT ABOUT IT THEN. HERE IT HAPPEN AGAIN & FORD SAID THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM YET. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR SOMETHING TO BE DONE WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE. SOMEONE COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, IF THERE WAS A CHILD IN THE SEAT HE OR SHE COULD HAVE REACHED FOR THE DOOR TO TRY TO CLOSE IT AND COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT WITH THE DOOR OR EVEN FALLING OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND MAYBE LOSE THERE LIFE. WHAT ABOUT IF THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT & THE DOOR DID NOT STAY CLOSED? THE PERSON AT THAT DOOR COULD BE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND LOSE THERE LIFE ALSO OR BECOME DISABLE FOR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. NEVER MIND THE COST TO FIX THIS PROBLEM TO THE CONSUMER BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE NOT CHEAP TO REPAIR. THE LAST DOOR LATCH I HAD TO PAY $239.17 FOR THE PART & HAD THE CAR DOWN FOR SEVERAL DAYS WHILE I WAITED FOR THE PART TO COME IN BECAUSE ITS NOT AN ITEM THAT THE DEALER STOCKS LOCALLY. I AM A MECHANIC BY TRADE MY WHOLE LIFE WHICH PUTS ME IN THE BUSINESS FOR OVER 45 YEARS. WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE THAT HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CAPABLE OF DOING IT THEM SELF. THE COST IS QUIT HIGH FOR A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE THAT SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. FORD HAS RECALL FOR OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH DOOR LATCHES THAT WONT LATCH CLOSED.THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO A 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL MODEL.
DOOR LATCHES DON'T SEEM TO BE BROKEN BUT PASSENGER DOOR WONT CLOSE AT ALL OR STAY SHUT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE DOOR JUST BLEW OPEN.
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING AND NOW DOES NOT LOCK.
DRIVER REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE REAR DOOR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE AND KEEP DOOR CLOSED.
THE LATCH FOR THE DRIVERS DOOR IS DAMAGED IT HAPPENED SUDDENLY IN MY FOCUS 2012 HATCHBACK.
IN 2012 I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM FUTURE FORD IN SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA. OVER THE PAST FOUR YEARS, THE CAR HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, PCM MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, CLUTCH, STARTER, STEERING WHEEL, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS FOR REPAIRS. THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS CANNOT REPAIR THE CAR. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY MANY TIMES AND THEY REFUSE TO REFUND MY MONEY AND RECALL THE VEHICLE THE CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND A RISK TO MY LIFE AND SAFETY. UPDATED 07/19/16*LJ *CN
I BOUGHT MY 2012 FORD FOCUS NEW. FORD HAS REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION/SEALS/ CLUTCHES FOUR TIMES THUS FAR. I HAVE HAD TO SCHEDULE THREE APPTS WITH PAUL MILLER FORD IN LEXINGTON KY SINCE TRANSMISSION #4. THE FIRST & SECOND INSPECTION PASSED ALL TESTS, 'IT'S WITHIN PARAMETERS' WAS THE ONLY RESPONSE THE TECHNICIAN WOULD TELL ME. MY THIRD APPT, MY TRANSMISSION FAILED & NOW NEED YET ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. FORD SAYS MY VEHICLE 'SAFE TO DRIVE'. WILL TAKE 2-3 MONTHS FOR PARTS. FOCUS CONTINUES TO: SHIFT ERRATIC, RPM NEEDLE IN 6-7 RANGE, TRANSMISSION SLIPS, JERKS, HESTITATES, BOGGS DOWN, DELAYED ACCELERATION, SHUDDERS, SURGES FORWARD WHEN STOPPING, DECREASED FUEL MILEAGE, AND TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING. THE COVER FOR UNDER CARRIAGE IS COVERED/CAKED WITH TRANSMISSION OIL. HOW CAN THIS VEHICLE BE SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN CLEARLY TESTING INDICATES THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED.
CANNOT HARDLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT STOP AND WHEN DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN BUSY HIGHWAYS. THE ERROR MESSAGE CAME ON SAYS THAT THE STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. UNACCEPTABLE FROM A MAJOR COMPANY.

AS I WAS COMMUTING TO MY JOB, I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN OFF OF US HIGHWAY 1 AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR FLEW OPEN. I HAD TO HOLD MY DOOR CLOSED THE WHOLE DRIVE TO MY HOUSE TO HAVE MY DAD LOOK AT IT AND TELL ME ONE OF THE LATCHES IS BROKEN.
THIS IS CONCERNING MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SEDAN. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO AS WE WERE DEPARTING FROM PETER PEPPER PIZZA, ON A TURN MY REAR LEFT DOOR OPENED BY ITSELF. MY FAMILY WAS ON THE BACK AND WHERE PUT IN DANGER IF THEY WERE LEANING AGAINST THE DOOR OR INCOMING TRAFFIC WAS COMING AND COULD HAVE HIT THE DOOR OR MY FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN EJECTED. LIKE SEAT BELTS I BELIEVE DOOR LATCH FAILURE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I DRIVE NOW WITH A RATCHET TIE DOWN THAT HOLD BOTH DOORS TOGETHER, PREVENTING THE DOOR TO SWING OPEN AND CAUSE DAMAGE. NOW I CAN'T DRIVE WITH MY BABY CAR SEAT AND REAR PASSENGER SEATING IS USELESS DUE TO THIS DOOR LATCH FAILURE.

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AGAIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES, SIZE: 215/55R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE OTHER TIRES ON THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE, REAR DRIVER SIDE, AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRES ALL HAD BUBBLES IN THE SIDEWALLS. THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES AND THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN I OPENED THE REAR DRIVER-SIDE DOOR TO PUT MY DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT, CONTINUED TO SHUT IT, AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT. IF PUSHED COMPLETELY IN, IT WOULD SLOWLY SWING OPEN AFTER REMOVING MY HAND FROM THE DOOR. THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH AND IS NOW BEING HELD SHUT USING BUNGEE CORDS IN MY BACKSEAT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY!!
DOOR LATCHES FAILED. FIRST ONE FAILED LAST OCTOBER (BACK LEFT) AND NOW THE DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED (FRONT LEFT). FIRST ONE HAPPENED WHEN A PASSENGER WAS GETTING IN THE VEHICLE (WAS NOT NOTICED TILL THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION) AND THE SECOND ONE HAPPENED WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE VEHICLE (CAR WAS STATIONARY). I AM ACTUALLY SURPRISED THAT THIS HAS NOT HAD A RECALL YET. HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR BOTH. YOU WOULD THINK A CAR MANUFACTURER COULD MAKE A DOOR LATCH LAST LONGER THAN 3-4 YEARS.
MY WIFE AND 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAD GONE TO THE STORE IN OUR 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY PARKED THE CAR AND THEY BOTH GOT OUT OF THE CAR - MY WIFE FROM HER SIDE (THE DRIVES-SIDE FRONT) AND OUR DAUGHTER FROM HER DOOR - THE DRIVERS-SIDE REAR (LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR), WHERE SHE USUALLY SITS. THEY EACH CLOSED THEIR DOORS AND WENT IN TO DO THEIR SHOPPING. WHEN THEY RETURNED TO THE CAR 15 MINUTES LATER, MY WIFE GOT IN HER DRIVER'S-SIDE DOOR (FRONT); OUR DAUGHTER GOT IN USING THE PASSENGER-SIDE REAR DOOR (ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR), CLIMBED INTO HER BOOSTER SEAT AND PUT HER SEAT BELT ON. AS MY WIFE STARTED THE CAR, SHE NOTICED THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR SHOWING ON THE DASHBOARD, NOTING THAT OUR DAUGHTER'S DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED PROPERLY. AFTER DRAWING THIS TO OUR DAUGHTER'S ATTENTION, OUR DAUGHTER TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR BUT COULD NOT GET IT TO LATCH. MY WIFE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND TRIED HERSELF TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT ALSO WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE DOOR TO LATCH. MY WIFE CALLED ME IMMEDIATELY AND I DROVE OUT TO MEET HER. WHEN I ARRIVED, I ALSO TRIED TO GET THE DOOR TO STAY LATCHED SHUT, BUT WAS UNABLE. I TRIED ACTIVATING AND ACTIVATING THE CHILD LOCK, MOVING THE LATCH OPEN AND CLOSED MANUALLY, BUT WAS STILL NOT ABLE TO GET THE DOOR TO LATCH. I SECURED THE DOOR CLOSED USING THE SEAT BELT AND TOOK MY DAUGHTER HOME IN OUR OTHER CAR, WHILE MY WIFE TOOK THE FORD FOCUS TO A NEARBY DEALER. THE DEALER EXAMINED THE LATCH AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF TAMPERING, AND THEN CONFIRMED THAT THE LATCH HAD SIMPLY GIVEN OUT - MUCH LIKE THE LATCHES IN THE FORD FUSION AND FORD FIESTA VEHICLES THAT HAD BEEN SUBJECT TO RECALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, AND AM THANKFUL THAT THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR WAS WORKING, BECAUSE THIS DEFECT COULD HAVE COST US OUR DAUGHTER'S LIFE. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW LATCH, COSTING US OVER $700.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE 275 IN PINELLAS COUNTY THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR FLEW OPEN THE INTERSTATE WAS CURVING TOWARDS THE RIGHT. MY SPEED WAS 65 MPH AND MY 19 MONTH OLD SON WAS IN HIS CAR SEAT DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE DOOR. THE DOOR SLAMMED BACK INTO HIM CAUSING THE SUN SHADE VISOR TO FALL OFF HITTING HIM. THE DOOR NOW WILL NOT STAY LATCHED AND I'VE HAD TO TIE IT SHUT AND MOVE MY SONS CAR SEAT.
