STALL AND SHUDDER EVERY DAY. I BOUGHT USED FROM SERRA DEALER IN WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN. MILEAGE WAS 80882 ON MAY 27, 2016.
DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE. LATCH ASSY DOOR DOES NOT ENGAGE . THE DOOR JUST BOUNCES OPEN. NEVER HAVE HAD ANY PROBLEM UNTIL IT JUST HAPPENED. DEALER SAYS THEY ARE NOT CURRENTLY ON RECALL , BUT IF THEY REPLACE IT THE COST IS ABOUT $475.00 . I FEEL IT IS A FORD PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE AND THEY SHOULD REPAIR IT NO- CHARGE. MAYBE PEOPLE HAVE TO BE HURT OR DIE FIRST BEFORE IT IS RESOLVED. HOPE NOT !!!!!
TAKATA RECALL // FOR SEVERAL MONTHS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT ON MY CAR. MOST OF THE TIME IT HAPPENED AS I STARTED THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND START AGAIN AND IT WAS FINE. FEW TIMES I WAS DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SEE OTHER FORD CARS ARE UNDER RECALL FOR RHIS PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR MY FOCUS. FORD OBVIOUSLY IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND IS IGNORING IT. SO DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE FORD TAKES NOTICE OF HOW MANY CARS THEY MANUFACTURED ARE FAULTY AND THEY ARE PUTTING US COMSUMERS AT RISK EVERY TIME WE HAVE TO BE ON THE ROAD. NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OR THE EXPENSE OF GETTING PROBLEM FIXED. AND IT SHOULD NOT BE UP TO THE CONSUMER TO FIX FAULTY CAR MADE BY FORD, IT IS FORD THAT NEEDS TO PLACE RECALL ON THIS CAR AND FIX TO HAVE ALL THIER CONSUMERS SAFE ON THE ROAD. IF NOT I CAN GUARANTEE I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY FORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT SPLIT OPEN AND SHE SAID IT LOOKED LIKE SMOKE CAME OUT OF IT. ALSO THE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK ON IMPACT. SHE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HER RIGHT ARM AND ABDOMEN HIPS AND BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION GOING 45 MPH THE OTHER CAR WAS GOING 70 MPH AND IT WAS ON A CITY STREET.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SHUDDERS, SLOW TO ACCELERATE AND GRINDS WHEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE LOSE POWER MUTLIPLE TIMES AS I AM SLOWING TO A STOP AND LOST POWER COMPLETE IN MAY 2016. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AND NOW DECEMBER 2016 SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I MUST PAY FOR THE REPAIR, ALTHOUGH SHOULD THE CLUTCH LAST LONGER THAN 7 MONTHS. THESE ALWAYS HAPPENED IN THE CITY ON EITHER TWO LANES OR FOUR LANES AND MORE OFTEN THAN NOT EARLY MORNING IN BUSY TRAFFIC. I DON'T FEEL CONFIDENT THAT THE CARE WILL RUN CORRECTLY AND SAFELY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH HAD FAILED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
IN OCTOBER OF 2015 THE TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE CENTER LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE FAULT WAS IN BOTH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND A BROKEN SEAL AND CLUTCH. EVEN AFTER REPAIRS WERE MADE THE TRANSMISSION REMAINS PROBLEMATIC. THEN IN MAY 2016 THE FUEL TANK COLLAPSED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT ON GA 400, A MAJOR INTERSTATE CONNECTOR. THIS WAS THE RESULT OF A STUCK VALVE. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, THE FUEL TANK COLLAPSED AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT, THIS TIME HOWEVER MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIEND WERE IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME.
THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR WOULDN'T CLOSE ON 5/22/16 WHEN MY WIFE AND I WERE LEAVING TO DRIVE 25 MILES EAST INTO TOWN FROM OUR HOME IN TONOPAH AZ. I TAPED THE DOOR UP ON THE SAME DAY AND WE GOT A RIDE INTO TOWN TO OUR BIBLE MEETING AND THEN TO THE STORE. ON 5/24/16 I TOOK OUR FORD FOCUS INTO JONES FORD IN BUCKEYE AZ TO HAVE THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOK AT IT. WHILE I WAITED I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS ISSUE WE HAD WITH OUR DOOR HAS BEEN AN RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND FOUND A STORY THAT CBS5AZ COVERED BACK IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015 OF MANY AZ RESIDENTS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND NOT JUST IN AZ. THESE DOORS ON THIS VEHICLE CAN POP OPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME W/O WARNING, THAT'S VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMEONE CAN LOSE THEIR LIFE. JONES FORD TOLD ME THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RECALLS OR HELP FROM FORD MOTOR, SO I PHONED FORD MOTOR FROM MY CELL RIGHT AWAY AND CONTACTED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE MY COMPLAINT AND I WAS GIVEN CARE #CAS-9558178 AND TOLD THAT A REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ON MY BEHALF WOULD BE PUT IN TO PAY THE $600 BILL, BUT NO GUARANTEES AND IF I PAID OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO KEEP THE RECEIPT IN CASE FORD DOES DO A RECALL. I DROVE THIS DANGEROUS UNPREDICTABLE CAR HOME AND TOOK THE TAPE OFF AND ROLLED THE WINDOWS UP AND PUSHED THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR AS CLOSE AS IT WOULD STAY. I FEEL FORD SHOULD EITHER BUY BACK THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND LET ME CHOOSE A DIFFERENT PRODUCT AND OR MAKE MY MONTHLY PAYMENT UNTIL I CAN DRIVE THIS VEHICLE THAT'S NOT SAFE. WHY SHOULD I MAKE A PAYMENT ON SOMETHING I CAN'T DRIVE OR BETTER YET, IF ANY DEALERSHIP WHO KNOWINGLY SOLD THESE UNITS TO PEOPLE W/O DISCLOSING THESE FACTS REGARDING THE POSSIBILITY OF THE DOORS JUST POPPING OPEN W/O WARNING, THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY THESE VEHICLES BACK AND GIVE ME AND OTHER CUSTOMERS OUR DEPOSIT AND EVERY MONTHLY PAYMENT WE'VE MADE. ANY DOOR CAN POP OPEN!!!
AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, MY "DOOR AJAR" SIGNAL CAME ON, I REOPENED AND CLOSED AND MY DOORS AND NOTICED THAT MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS NOT LATCHING. AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS PROBLEM, I'VE LEARNED THAT MANY 2012 FORD FOCUS' HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP INSISTS THAT THERE WILL NOT BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, BUT I OBJECT. SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT IN THIS INCIDENT.
THIS COMPLAINT IS FOR A SECOND DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTION. THE FIRST COMPLAINT WAS ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR (ODI# 10818622 ). THIS ONE IS FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE BACK DOOR OF THE SAME CAR. IT MALFUNCTIONED WHILE OUR DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND IT FLEW OPEN. IF THERE HAD BEEN A CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT THAT HAD TAKEN OF THE SEAT BELT (WE KNOW HOW CHILDREN CAN BE) THAT CHILD WOULD HAVE FALLEN OUT.
ELECTRIC STEERING GEAR OUT. $1650 DOLLARS TO REPLACE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH FORD'S BAD DESIGN OF ELECTRONIC STEERING. 150 PLUS COMPLAINTS WITH CRASHES AND DEATHS. THIS IS MY 20YO DAUGHTERS CAR AND THANK GOD SHE WASN'T DRIVING IT WHEN IT WENT OUT. BASICALLY A YARD ORNAMENT NOW UNTIL WE CAN AFFORD TO FIX IT. STILL MAKING THE PAYMENTS BUT NO CHANCE OF DRIVING THE HAZARD TO THE ROAD CAR.
I HAVE HAD MY FORD FOCUS SINCE 2012. BOUGHT NEW. NOTICED ROLL BACK AT STOP SIGNS AND DEFINITELY ON HILLS. HAD IT LOOKED AT, WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED AND AS GOOD AS IT IS GOING TO GET. STILL ROLLS BACK. ONE NIGHT PUT CAR IN REVERSE. IT DIDN'T MOVE. SHUT IT OFF THREE TIMES, IT FINALLY RESET. TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS. SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. HAVE NOTICED A LITTLE JERKING HERE AND THERE. ONE DAY, JUNE 2016, DROVE THE CAR TO DOWNTOWN MADISON, PARKED IN A RAMP. ALL WAS FINE. GOT BACK IN AND STARTED IT UP TO BELLS AND WHISTLES TELLING US THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED AND TO HAVE IT SERVICED IMMEDIATELY. CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. HAD THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER, 350 MILES FROM HOME, AFTER PASSING A SEMI, PULLED BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND 10 MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD, CAR REFUSED TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULD REV UP TO 4500 RPM'S BUT NOT MOVE. ALL THE WAY HOME. GOING UP HILL, SAME THING. GET ON A STRAIGHT AWAY AND IT MOVED FINE, BUT TO START OFF AND STOP LIGHTS AND INTERSECTIONS, IT WOULD START SLOWLY. BUT RPM'S WOULD REV EVERY TIME. DEALERSHIP JUST CALLED. THE WORK THEY DID IS "FINE", NOW RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE POWERTRAIN. ALREADY 100 DOLLARS IN. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER AT THIS MOMENT.
2012 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE REAR DOOR LATCH FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HIS WIFE TRIED TO CLOSE THE LEFT REAR DOOR, IT WOULD NOT LATCH. ALSO, THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH EITHER. *JB
LOUD POPPING AND CRACKLING NOISE THEN INOP RADIO. STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. DIAGNOSED BY FORD AS CONSISTANT WITH OTHER RADIO FALURES WHERE THE ACM IS FAULTY. ADVISED FIX WAS REPLACE @ $800.
THE CAR HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS HAD 3 OIL LEAKS (1 OIL PAN & 2 HEAD GASKET); I HAVE ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE CLUTCH REPLACED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WAS DUE TO SHUDDERING AND THE SECOND TIME WAS DUE TO A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION CODE. THE TWO CLUTCHES WERE REPLACED 10,000 MILES APART.
DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH OR LOCK IN ORDER TO STAY CLOSED WHILE DRIVING NOR WHILE PARKED. THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING SYSTEM THAT ENGAGES AFTER BEGINNING TO DRIVE DOES NOT LATCH OR LOCK THE DRIVER'S DOOR, RESULTING IN A PANEL WARNING THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR.
TAKATA RECALL. STARTED MY CAR AND SHUT THE DOOR I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM FORD OF KIRKLAND IN WASHINGTON STATE IN 2016, AND NOTICED DRIVING ISSUES THE DAY I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. THIS VEHICLE HAS A DPS6 TRANSMISSION AND IT CONSTANTLY JERKS, SHUDDERS AND SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. IT OFTEN FAILS TO ACCELERATE OR ACCELERATES SUDDENLY AND OUT OF CONTROL, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING UPHILL. IT ALSO FREQUENTLY OVERHEATS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IDLING, DESPITE HAVING WORK DONE ON IT SEVERAL TIMES THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME, AND THE DPS6 IS NOT AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AT ALL. I ALSO FREQUENTLY HAVE ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL AND RADIO SYSTEM. THE CLOCK CHANGES RANDOMLY AND THE AUDIO SWITCHES UNEXPECTEDLY TO RADIO STATIONS FROM BLUE TOOTH WHILE DRIVING AND THEN FAILS TO SWITCH BACK TO ANY BLUE TOOTH DEVICE, SOMETIMES FOR SEVERAL DAYS UNTIL IT RANDOMLY BEGINS WORKING AGAIN. THIS IS ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC WHEN I AM RELYING ON AUDIO DIRECTIONS FROM NAVIGATION APPS THAT ARE PAIRED FROM MY CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY FORD OF KIRKLAND SERVICE CENTER THAT THERE IS "NOTHING WRONG" WITH MY TRANSMISSION OR MY VEHICLE AND THAT I'M JUST NOT DRIVING IT "CORRECTLY," WHICH MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. THIS VEHICLE AND ITS FAULTY TRANSMISSION ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I DO NOT LET ANYONE ELSE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I FEAR FOR THEIR SAFETY AND I ONLY DRIVE IT MYSELF IN TIMES WHERE IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, WHICH I CAN PROVE BY THE VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF MILES I HAVE PUT ON IT SINCE PURCHASE. I EXPERIENCE THE ABOVE STATED PROBLEMS EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IT THIS VEHICLE, WHICH IS A CLEARLY A LEMON BY DEFINITION. FORD BROKE THE LAW BY SELLING ME THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT THEY KNEW WAS UNSAFE AND BY FALSELY ADVERTISING THIS TRANSMISSION AS AN AUTOMATIC.

MY DRIVER SIDE FROM DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED AND I HAVE TO USE ROPE TO KEEP IT CLOSED.
THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAD TO TIE UP THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE AND TAPE THE DOOR SHUT FROM THE EXTERIOR. WITH THE DOOR NOT ABLE TO LATCH THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN OR THE DOOR WOULD FLY OPEN. I BOUGHT A LATCH FROM FORD AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY.AT A SHOP. TOTAL COST OVER $350. I MAY HAVE PURCHASED THE SAME LATCH THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN ON ANY DOOR. THE CAR WAS PARKED WHEN I CAME BACK I NOTICED THE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT. THEREFORE I TIED IT AND TAPED IT TO GET HOME.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY IN A 55MPH SPEEDZONE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS, AND THEN MY CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 35 MPH. AFTER TAKING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SIMPLY SAID I WAS "DRIVING THE CAR INCORRECTLY" AND PERFORMED SOME KIND OF SOFTWARE REBOOT. NOW, WHEN TRAVELING AROUND TOWN, MY CAR (WHICH IS AN AUTOMATIC) SPUTTERS WHEN CHANGING GEARS AFTER IT IS STOPPED LIKE AT A STOP SIGN, RED LIGHT, OR IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, OR GOING UP STEEPER HILLS. IT ACTS LIKE IT IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHEN A GEAR IS MISSED OR ITS BEING CHOKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THERE WAS A LOUD BOOMING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEREO MODULE INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVEN WHEN THE POWER WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE STEREO MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHILE PULLING BACK FROM A PARKING LOT, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR SIGNAL SHOWED UP, AND THE DOOR OPENED. FROM THAT MOMENT, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE CORRECTLY THE DOOR AS THE LATCH DOESN'T CLOSE CORRECTLY. I GUESS IT IS RELATED TO INVESTIGATION PE16001.
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILS TO LATCH NORMALLY AND MUST BE REPEATEDLY SLAMMED HARD TO GET IT TO LATCH AND STAY CLOSED. THE DOOR HAS ALSO COME UNLATCHED AND OPENED WHILE SLOWLY DRIVING AROUND CORNERS IN A PARKING GARAGE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS IN THE DOOR LATCH ITSELF. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS ALREADY UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA.

UPON ENGINE START, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK. AFTER 10 SECONDS, IT WORKS FINE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED, EXCEPT SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE, IT REQUIRES A FEW START/RESTART CYCLES FOR THE POWER STEERING TO START WORKING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST 15,000 MILES, ABOUT 10 MONTHS. NO FAULT LIGHT HAS EVER COME ON. STEERING HAS NEVER FAILED WHILE DRIVING. ONCE THE POWER STEERING COMES ON, IT STAYS ON FOR THE ENTIRE TIME THE IGNITION IS ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE DOOR LATCHES AND THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
RADIO STOPPED WORKING AND VERY LOUD STATIC NOISE COMES FROM RADIO RANDOMLY. DEALER WILL NOT LOOK AT SYSTEM WITHOUT $90 CHARGE. NOISE IS VERY LOUD AND STARTLING WHEN IT IS GOING ON EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF.
LOUD STATIC SOUNDS COMING FROM DASH. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. EXTREMELY LOUD. TODAY CAN SMELL BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE STATIC NOISE SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN CAR IS PARKED OR JUST AFTER PARKING VEHICLE AND ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING.
SEAT BELT GETS AND REMAINS WET AFTER RAIN AND DOES NOT RETRACT PROPERLY OR PROVIDE TENSION FOR PROPER RESTRAINT.
I HAVE HAD TWO DOOR LATCHES FAIL ON MY 2012 FOCUS SO FAR. THE DRIVER DOOR WAS THE FIRST TO FAIL, WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED ON 12 FEBRUARY 2016 (DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED THROUGH UPLOAD). DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED IN MY DRIVEWAY, AND I HAD TO TIE MYSELF IN USING MY SEATBELT JUST TO GO GET IT REPAIRED. THIS IS A KNOWN AND ONGOING PROBLEM FOR FORD. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION; LUCKILY A FRIEND WAS ABLE TO GRAB THE DOOR AND HOLD IT CLOSE BEFORE IT WAS STRUCK BY A PASSING CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO US ON A CITY STREET. MY KIDS WERE IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME, AND I FEAR THAT I CANNOT USE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN ITS PRESENT CONDITION, AND THE OTHER TWO DOORS COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME. MY TWO-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER SITS IN A CAR SEAT RIGHT NEXT TO THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR, AND MY WIFE TYPICALLY SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, BOTH OF WHICH SEEM AS IF THEY ARE NEXT IN LINE TO FAIL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND FORD SHOULD REPAIR THESE AT NO COST, REIMBURSE FOR MONEY ALREADY SPENT, AND EVEN PROVIDE A TOW TRUCK TO BRING THE VEHICLE SAFELY TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. CURRENTLY MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE DRIVE WAY FOR A WEEK AND I CANNOT REALLY GO ANYWHERE BECAUSE THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AFTER THIS FAILURE HAPPENS, WHICH MEANS SOMEONE CAN JUST OPEN THE DOOR AND TAKE WHATEVER THEY WOULD LIKE. IN ADDITION, IT POSES A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY SINCE THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES WHILE THE FAILED DOOR LATCH LEAVES THE DOOR IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE MOST RECENT CASE OCCURRED ON 29 APRIL 2016, AND IS STILL NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT AT THIS TIME.
FORD FOCUS SE 2012 [XXX] PURCHASED 08/25/2011. SINCE NEW, THE VEHICLE SHUDDER AND SHAKE BECAUSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT WAS AGAIN ON THE DEALER IN MAY 2016 FOR 2 WEEKS, AFTER HAVING TO WAIT 20 DAYS FOR THE PARTS TO ARRIVE, AT PINES FORD IN PEMBROKE PINES, FL. DURING THIS REPAIR ALSO, ONE OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS WAS FOUND BROKE AND THE DEALER AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND THE LABOR, $ 250 DOLLARS TOTAL. REALLY? FOR AN ENGINE MOUNT? THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR REFERRED TO THE ENGINE MOUNT AS A "TEAR AND WEAR" PART. REALLY? THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I HAVE TO REPLACE AN ENGINE MOUNT ON A VEHICLE 65K MILES OLD. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE SHUDDERING AND SHAKING TO THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION COMPONENT? SINCE NEW, THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER IN MORE THAN 8 OCCASIONS. IN TWO OF THIS OCCASIONS, IT TOOK AT LEAST 2 WEEKS TO GET THE CAR BACK. THE TCM HAS BEEN REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED SEVERAL TIMES, THE CLUTCH AND OR TRANSMISSION IN MORE THAN 2 OCCASIONS. THE DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR HAS ALWAYS TRIED TO CONVINCE US THAT THE SHUDDERING AND SHAKING IS "NORMAL" AS HE CALLED. IN TWO OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE STALL AND REFUSE TO COME BACK TO LIFE UNTIL 30 MINUTES PASSED. DURING LAST MONTH REPAIR ALSO A CASE WAS OPEN WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON 4/28/2016 [XXX] WAS CLOSED BY [XXX] WITHOUT OUR CONSENT. CASE IS STILL OPEN AND VALID. CAR IS A LEMON, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. FORD FOCUS RECALL. CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 10MPH IN TRAFFIC BUT ELECTRICAL STAYED ON. LUCKILY IT WAS TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE ROADSIDE. HAPPENED FIRST IN NOVEMBER 2015, DEALER SAID IT WAS BATTERY DYING. HAPPENED AGAIN APRIL 27 2016. NOW THEY'RE SAYING IT'S TRANSMISSION ELECTRICAL ISSUES.
POWERTRAIN IS SLIPPING, CAR LUNGES FORWARD WHEN PRESSES ON BRAKE, ROLLS WHEN GEAR, AND THE POWERTRAIN LIGHT TURNS ON. THIS IS THE SECOND/THIRD TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OPENED. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO SHUT THE DOOR. THE DOOR OPENED WITHOUT PULLING THE HANDLE. NOW THE DOOR NO LONGER CLOSES AND MUST BE HELD SHUT AT ALL TIMES BY THE DRIVER.
SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2012 IT HAS NOT OPERATED PROPERLY. I UNDERSTAND IT IS A HYBRID TRANSMISSION AND FEELS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CAR SHUDDERS AND JERKS FORWARD WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NO PROBLEM. YET THERE HAVE BEEN ABOUT THREE RECALL OR TRANSMISSION UPDATES. THE LAST RECALL WAS SERVICED IN JANUARY 2016. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RECENTLY THE CAR'S ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO VALLEY ISLE FORD BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE. THERE RESPONSE AFTER RESETTING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS THAT THE CAR DROVE FINE. I WENT TO PICK THE CAR UP AND I BARELY MADE IT HOME. THE CAR AGAIN NEEDS TO TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THIS MODEL NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AS IT WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BE FIXED.

THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COST $1,000-$1,500 DOLLARS BUT IT DRIVES LIKE A CLUTCH. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME FORD EXTENDED THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO 7 YRS OR 100K MILES B/C OF THIS. HE GAVE ME A COPY FROM HOTLINE ARCHIVE 1) FIRST PERFORM THE TRANSMISSION ADAPTIVE RELEARNS USING THE FACTORY OR EQUIVALENT SCAN TOOL 2) IF THESE CODES ARE P2831 AND/OR P2832 RETURN IMMEDIATELY, IT IS LIKELY THERE IS AN INTERNAL CLUTCH ISSUE. NOTE, THERE IS A COMMON CONCERN OF INTERNAL SEALS LEAKING FLUID ONTO THE CLUTCH FORD HAS INCREASED THE WARRANTY ON THE INTERNAL SEALS TO 7YRS OR 100KMILES. POTENTIAL CAUSES: INTERNAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 2) TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE ADAPTIVE RELEARN - CONFIRMED FIX SUMMARY: 3) REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. LATER I THOUGHT WHAT HAPPENS IF IT DAMAGES OTHER NON-TRANSMISSION PARTS NOT COVERED UNDER THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY - WILL THAT COST ME OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES - ACTUATORS/SYNCHROS/ENGINE MOUNTS, ETC. FORD SHOULD HAVE TOLD US ABOUT THIS NEW EUROPEAN DUAL CLUTCH/AUTO TRANSMISSION TECHNOLOGY BEFORE THEY SOLD THE CAR. I THINK THEY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AT THE MANUFACTURING STAGE & STILL SOLD THE CARS. THE 2012 FORD FOCUS SHOULD FALL UNDER THE LEMON ACT.
