THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR IS HORRENDOUS! I FREQUENTLY EXPERIENCE SEVERE GRINDING AND SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING AND HAVE EXPERIENCED COMPLETE STALL OUTS WHEN TURNING/MERGING ONTO ROADS AND LANES. IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE AND HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE REGIONAL MANAGER OF FORD DURING MY CURRENT COMPLAINT WITH THEM. THEIR RESPONSE? THAT IT'S MY FAULT FOR HOW I AM DRIVING THE CAR. I AM WAITING MY 3RD CLUTCH REPLACEMENT DUE TO A 3-5 WEEK BACKORDER DUE TO THE FREQUENCY OF THIS ISSUE BUT IT'S SOMEHOW MY SPECIFIC DRIVING CAUSING THE PROBLEM. WORST OF ALL IS THAT THEIR OWN SERVICE REP ADMITS TO THIS BEING A PATCH, NOT A SOLUTION. I WILL EXPERIENCE GOOD PERFORMANCE FOR 2-3 MONTHS AND THEN THE PROBLEMS WILL BEGIN AGAIN.
1ST TIME - CAR DIED ON THE HIGHWAY AND WOULDN'T DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS JOE COOPER FORD. SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T COVER A RENTAL AND REPROGRAMMED THE CONTROL MODULE AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. 2ND TIME - CAR DIED AGAIN SO TOOK BACK INTO JOE COOPER BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT THE FIRST TIME. CHECKED IN BY ADAM (RUDE) AND WENT AND GOT RENTAL AGAIN. DEALERSHIP COVERED THIS TIME. CAR WAS THERE FOR 7 DAYS BEFORE I HAD TO CALL TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND I WAS TOLD THAT ADAM WHO CHECKED ME IN TOOK NO NOTES AND IT HAD BEEN SETTING THERE NOT BEING LOOKED AT. FINALLY WAS LOOKED AT AFTER 11 DAYS AND TOLD THE CLUTCH TEST WAS "NOT BAD ENOUGH" TO WARRANT IT TO BE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AND WE WOULD DO OUT OF POCKET. THEY ALSO SAID "WE WERE NOT USED TO AN AUTOMATIC AND NOT USED TO A STANDARD BECAUSE THIS CAR HAD AN AUTOMATIC CLUTCH FOR ITS STANDARD OPTION". 3RD TIME - TOOK IN AND THEY RECOGNIZED ME AND SAID RIGHT AWAY WE CAN'T COVER THIS RENTAL AND THEY CAN'T GET TO IT FOR 2 WEEKS. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO GET HELP. AT FIRST I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING BUT ASKED FOR SUPERVISOR AND RECEIVED A CALL BACK 3 HOURS LATER THAT FORD WOULD COVER ONLY 3 DAYS OF THE RENTAL.
VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE AFTER TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED AT 69,359MI AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATIONAL ENOUGH TO MOVE OFF THE HIGHWAY TO PARK IT FOR THE NIGHT.
WE WERE DRIVING HOME FROM A FAMILY VACATION AND STOPPED TO GET ICE CREAM. WHEN WE GOT BACK IN THE CAR, THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WAS MESSED UP AND THE DOOR WOULDN'T STAY CLOSED. WE WERE A LONG WAYS FROM HOME SO HAD TO TIE THE BACK DOORS TOGETHER TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM FLYING OPEN. THE DOOR LATCH ATTACHMENT HAS BEEN RECALLED ON SEVERAL OTHER FORD VEHICLES BUT NOT ON THE FORD FUSION. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING ON-LINE, THERE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FORD FUSION TO RECALL THE PART FOR IT TOO.
DOOR LATCH WOULD RELEASE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING IN CITY TRAFFIC. HAD TO USE STRAPS TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT. WAS REPAIRED BY DEALER AND THEN THE SAME THING OCCURRED ON ANOTHER DOOR. ALSO WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. IT APPEARED THE LATCH JUST FAILED IN BOTH OCCURRENCES.
MY FORD FOCUS IS ONE OF THE MANY CARS THAT HAVE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE WHERE THE CAR SHOWS A STUTTER AND SOMETIME STALL WHILE IN MOTION. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS BUT WON'T RESPOND TO TAKING THE CAR BACK. THIS RECENTLY BECAME A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING ON FREE WAY. THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ABOUT 3 TIMES AND HAVE FAILED.
WHILE DRIVING M POWER STEERING GOES OUT. ALSO WHEN FIRST START CAR WILL INDICATE PROBLEM WITH POWER STEERING. WILL HAVE TO TURN OFF CAR THEN START AGAIN TO RESOLVE ISSUE. I STARTED FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I HOPE THEY RECALL THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
THE DOOR LATCHES ARE FAILING WITHOUT WARNING. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE AFTER STOPPING THE LATCHES HAVE FAILED AND THE DOORS WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. IN AUGUST 2015, THE DRIVER'S REAR DOOR LATCH FAILED UPON OPENING THE DOOR TO PUT MY PURSE IN THE BACKSEAT, IT WOULD NOT CLOSE AFTER THAT. I HAD TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED. THIS PROVED TO BE DANGEROUS AS I DRIVE A MANUAL CAR. NOW THE DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH FAILED UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT CAN STRAND DRIVERS WITHOUT NOTICE. THE DOOR HAS TO BE TIED SHUT SO IT CAN BE DRIVEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO HAD TO ORDER THE PART. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAVE RECALLED THE DOOR LATCHES ON OTHER MODEL YEARS OF FOCUS, FIESTA, AND FUSION.
TRANSMISSION SHUTTERING DRIVING UP AN INCLINE OR FROM A STOP. BEGAN AS A SHUTTER WHICH THEN EVOLVED INTO GRINDING AND VIOLENT SHUTTER BEFORE REPLACING FAULTY CLUTCH. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES IN THE LAST CALENDAR YEAR FOR THE SAME REPAIR WITHOUT IT BEING RESOLVED. VEHICLE WILL SLIP AND SHUTTER CONSISTENTLY FROM STOP, INCLINE, OR HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH ENGINE RPM AROUND 1200 - 1800 RPM.
EVEN AFTER REPROGRAMMING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, THE CAR CONTINUES TO PRESENT BUCKING, KICKING, JERKING, HARSH ENGAGEMENT, AND DELAYED ACCELERATION, AS WELL AS LURCHING. TODAY, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE COMPLETELY FAILED TO START THE VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL WORKS.
STEERING WENT OUT AT STARTING THE CAR. THIS WAS JUST HOURS AFTER DEALER REPAIRED SOME RECALLS., HAS NEVER COME BACK. "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQ'" READ OUT ON DASH. ONE FORD DEALER WANTS $125.00 TO LOOK AT IT AFTER I MENTIONED STEERING. ANOTHER HAS REFUSED TO ANSWER CALLS. I DISCOVERED THAT DEALERS WERE WARNED ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH STEERING BUT DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN INDEPENDENTLY AND FAILED TO CLOSE PROPERLY. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING 30MPH WHEN MY STEERING STARTED TO GET HARD TO STEER BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE. WHEN I PULLED OVER I GOT A NOTIFICATION ON MY DASH THE "STEERING LOSS, STOP SAFELY". AT THAT POINT THERE WAS NO WAY WHAT SO EVER TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. ALL MOST SEEMED LIKE IT WAS LOCKED. TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR AND STILL NO STEERING
IM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE 2016 THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT I TOOK IT BACK A CONTROL MODULE WAS PUT ON IT, THAN I TOOK IT BACK THE END 2017 A CLUTCH WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN PUT IN IT. NOW ITS 2018 AND ITS BACK ACTING UP AGAIN.
I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO TWO SEPARATE FORD DEALERSHIPS (ELDER FORD AND BILL CURRIE FORD, BOTH LOCATED IN TAMPA, FL) FOR SERVICE DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION AUDIBLY GRINDING AND THE CAR LITERALLY SHAKING ON TAKE OFF. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO DIE AT ANY MOMENT. EACH TIME I HAVE TAKEN IT IN, I WAS TOLD IT JUST NEEDED TO BE "RE-PROGRAMMED". THEY WOULD DO THAT THEN SEND ME ON MY WAY ONLY FOR ME TO RETURN A MONTH OR TWO LATER WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS PAST TIME, THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AGAIN ONLY FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL ONCE MORE. WHILE DRIVING HOME, MY CAR INEXPLICABLY STOPPED RUNNING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ON A BUSY STREET. THE DASHBOARD SHOWED A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION AND TO GET IT SERVICED IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE CALLED FORD'S CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO SPEAK WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER WHO JUST REFERS ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. WHAT IF THE CAR HAD STOPPED THE WAY IT DID WHILE I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY? THIS IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE AND FORD DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE. I HAVE COPIES OF THE DOCUMENTATION FROM EACH TIME THE CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THIS ISSUE. I AM WRITING BECAUSE I AM AT MY WITS END AND I HAVE GIVEN FORD MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO GET THIS CORRECTED AND THEY KEEP TRYING TO PUT A BAND-AID ON IT. I HAVE DONE MY OWN RESEARCH AND THIS PROBLEM IS A VERY COMMON ONE AMONG THIS PARTICULAR MODEL OF VEHICLE. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT AWARENESS IS BROUGHT TO THIS SO THAT HOPEFULLY SOMETHING CAN BE DONE BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS.
WENT TO START MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SE ON 3/3/16 AND IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED A MESSAGE STATING "POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION". THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LIKE IT LOCKED UP AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THANK GOODNESS I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT ON THE ROAD WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR! WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO APPLE FORD IN COLUMBIA MD WHERE THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID WE NEED TO REPLACE THE THE STEERING RACK, WHICH WILL COST $1,950!! AFTER READING THE FORUMS, COMPLAINTS AND PENDING LAWSUITS ONLINE, IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WHERE SEVERAL MODELS ARE BEING RECALLED. MY VIN HAS NOT BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THAT RECALL, BUT I'M DESPERATELY HOPING THAT IT WILL SOON. THIS IS AN ELECTRIC ISSUE CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL, AND IT'S HAPPENING TO SO MANY FORD OWNERS. PLEASE TAKE ACTION!
DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT SHUT. OPENED DOOR AND TRIED TO SHUT IT BUT WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWINGS OPEN WHEN DRIVING. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE HEARD OF THE PROBLEM ON MULTIPLE OCCAISIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED INDEPENDENT OF DRIVER INPUT. ADDITIONALLY, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WOODY ANDERSON FORD LOCATED AT 2500 JORDAN LN NW, HUNTSVILLE, AL 35810, WHERE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVEN MONTHS LATER HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
VEHICLE WITH 42000 MILES, THE REAR DRIVE SIDE PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILS TO SECURE THE DOOR. THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM DOES LOCK / FASTEN / ENGAGE IN THE CONVENTIONAL MANNER THAT DOORS DO WHEN THE DOOR IS "SHUT". AT PRESENT THE DOOR IS REQUIRED TO BE TIED / SECURED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT THE DOOR FROM SWINGING OPEN, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission clutch bearing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown class action lawsuit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
THE FIRST TIME WAS GOING DOWN 93 IN BOSTON AREA WITH MY FAMILY THE CAR WENT INTO TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHY I WAS IN FAR LEFT LANE THE CAR WOULDNT GO OVER 20 AND I HAD TO CROSS OVER TO THE FAR LEFT LANE TO TREACH THE BREAKDOWN LANE. LUCKILY MY FAMILY WAS NOT IN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT COULD'VE HAVE BEEN FAR WORSE. IT DID THE SAME THING A SECOND TIME WHEN I WAS GOING DOWN 293 AREA GOING TO A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. THIS MAY END UP KILLING MY FAMILY IF IT DOESN'T GET RECALLED AND FIX. WE DON'T HAVE EXTRA MONEY TO BE REPAIRING IT OURSELF EVERY TIME IT DECIDES TO DO THIS.
FEB 29, 2016 WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON FREEWAY WHEN I NOTICED DRIVER DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED. I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE DOOR BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY SHUT. I EXIT THE FREEWAY AND REPEATEDLY ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE. I WAS AFRAID OF WHAT POSSIBLY COULD HAVE HAPPENED. NOT TO ME BUT TO MY GIRLFRIEND WHO IS 5 MONTHS PREGNANT WITH OUR CHILD. IT IS THE CAR WE BOUGHT FOR HER BUT TODAY I DECIDED TO LEAVE HER MY TRUCK. "BETTER ME THEN HER" IS WHAT I WAS THINKING. I IMMEDIATELY SEARCHED GOOGLE TO SEE WHAT IT CAN POSSIBLY BE WHEN I CAME ACROSS THE RECALL FORD WAS HAVING. I DIDN'T SEE FORD FOCUS ON THERE AND WAS THINKING "WHY THE HELL NOT" IT SEEMS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAME ACROSS FORUMS OF OTHER HAVE THE SAME HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I ALSO READ OF IT HAPPENING TO A WOMEN IN ARIZONA WHO HAD HER COST COVERED BY FORD. I CALLED MY DEALER WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE FOCUS IS NOT COVERED. I WAS GIVEN A CALL LATER DURING THE DAY WITH AN PRICE OF $682.56 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I CALLED A 1-800-392-3673 TO SPEAK WITH FORD AND EXPRESS MY CONCERN AND THE TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE OF MY DRIVE TO WORK. ALL I WAS TOLD I CAN DO IS HOLD ON TO MY RECEIPT IN CASE IT IS RECALLED IN THE FUTURE. I ASKED ABOUT THE WOMEN IN ARIZONA WHO HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE AND WHY WAS HER COST COVERED AND NOT ANY OF THESE OTHER PEOPLE. I WAS TOLD HERS WAS PROBABLY DIFFERENT. I WAS SPEECHLESS AFTER THAT. AS OUR CALL CAME TO AN END ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT DOOR LATCHES NOT CLOSING AND THE ACCIDENTS THAT CAN POSSIBLY HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME WITHOUT WARNING. NO ONE IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTED LATCHES. FORD IS NO TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTED LATCHES. HOW CAN THEY RECALL APPROX. 400,000 OTHER MODELS AND NOT REALIZE MAYBE THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO THE FOCUS.
FORD FOCUS RECALL FOR DUAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY: WE HAVE HAD THE DUAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACED 3 TIMES AND CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR NOT SHIFTING INTO THE CORRECT GEAR, DRAGGING, AND SHUTTERING.
WHILE DRIVING BACK ON THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE STEERING MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICE WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,800.
ON 2/25/16, AFTER A SEVERE RAINSTORM, I WENT TO TURN ON MY CAR AND TRIED TO TURN ON THE WIPER BLADES, BUT THEY WOULD NOT COME ON. THE NEXT MORNING THEY DID TURN ON. THAT AFTERNOON, WHEN STARTING MY CAR, THE WIPER BLADES TURNED ON WITHOUT THE CONTROL BEING ACTIVATED. THE BLADES CONTINUED TO RUN EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND NO KEYS WERE IN THE IGNITION. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE BLADES WAS TO DISCONNECT THE FUSE FROM THE BOX. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHEN I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS AND MY CAR BATTERY WAS DEAD WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR. I CANNOT USE THE WIPER BLADES AT THIS TIME AS THEY WILL NOT TURN OFF. ACCORDING TO FORD MOTOR CO., THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL ON THE WIPER BLADES SINCE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE CLUTCH AND IT IS STILL NOT REPAIRED DUE TO FORD MOTOR CO NOT SENDING OUT THE NECESSARY PARTS IN A TIMELY MANNER. MY CAR IS SHUDDERING AND JERKING WHEN ACCELERATING AND CHANGING GEARS ON ALL TYPES OF ROADS. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW. THE CRUISE CONTROL ON MY CAR WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED AND THEN RECONNECTED, THE CRUISE WILL WORK FOR A FEW DAYS. FORD TECHNICIANS COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE HAD THE CAR.
I'VE ALREADY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION (RECALL ISSUE) THAT CAUSES THE GRINDING AND JERKING OF THE VEHICLE...AND STILL HAVE TO ADDRESS THESE. BUT JUST THIS WEEK MY BLINKERS STARTED COMING ON (WHEN I TURNED OFF MY MOTOR), AND SOME ALARM STARTED SOUNDING UNTIL I STARTED UP THE CAR. REALLY, REALLY CONCERNED AT THIS POINT! NOT A SAFE VEHICLE. MY SECOND FORD FOCUS (MY 2003 WAS A DREAM!)...WONDERING WHAT WENT WRONG IN THE FACTORY!

THE RPM WOULD REV UP BUT NO POWER. RESTARTED CAR AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY. NEXT DAY HAD TCM FLASHED AS PART OF RECALL. TWO DAYS LATER HAD THE SAME ISSUE ONLY GOING 60-65 ON FREEWAY. TRANSMISSION WENT HAYWIRE AND HAD TO COAST OVER AND ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED AGAIN. THIS TIME CAR WOULDN'T RESTART FOR ABOUT 2 MIN. NO POWER. ENGINE REVVING AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER TWICE AND I FEEL THIS CAR IS A MAJOR ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHILE DRIVING NOT KNOWING WHY MY CAR IS LOSING POWER EVEN AFTER THE SO CALLED SOFTWARE FIX.

I GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND MANY STORIES ABOUT OTHER FORD CARS BEING RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS SAME ISSUE, JUST NOT MINE, THE 2012 FORD FOCUS, AND PEOPLE ASKING WHY THE FOCUS HASN'T BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I AM QUITE UPSET OVER THE POTENTIAL DANGER MY RIDERS HAVE BEEN IN, AND THAT I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT, AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY FORD IS IGNORING THE FOCUS WHILE RECALLING THE REST OF THEM IF THESE LATCHES POSE A SAFETY RISK. WE HAVE BROUGHT IT IN FOR ALL REGULAR AND IRREGULAR MAINTENANCE TO LUTHER NORTH COUNTRY FORD IN COON RAPIDS, MN. THEY FIRST SAID IT WAS HOW THE "NEW TRANSMISSION WORKED", THEY THEN SAID IT WAS THE TCM CODES, THEN THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THEN THE ONLY TIME THEY GOT CODES FROM THE CAR, WE HAD TO PAY 1200 DOLLARS BECAUSE IT WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL, BUT LESS THAN A MONTH LATER, WE HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS. EVERY TIME THEY "FIX" THE PROBLEM IT HAPPENS AGAIN, SOMETIMES MONTHS APART, MOST RECENTLY IT WAS LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH. THEY THEMSELVES HAVE ADMITTED THEY HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW TO TRULY, PERMANENTLY, MAKE THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT CONTINUALLY ALLOW US TO PICK IT UP AND DRIVE AWAY. WE HAVE TRUSTED THEM WITH EVERYTHING AND THE ASSUMPTION THAT THEY ARE GIVING US A TRUE AND HONEST TRY WHEN WORKING ON OUR CAR. NOW WE HAVE APPLIED FOR LEMON LAW, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT WE DO NOT QUALIFY FOR THAT BECAUSE WE HAVE TRUSTED THE DEALER AND FORD, EXTENDING OVER THE WARRANTY/LEMON LAW REFUND PERIOD. MY WIFE JUST MADE THE LAST PAYMENT ON THIS VEHICLE, AND NOW (AS WE HAVE BEEN FOR SOME TIME) WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, I AM USED TO HAVING TO PUT ON THE 4 WAY FLASHERS ONCE A DAY TO PULL OVER WHEN IT STOPS ACCELERATING. IF IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE THE WASHER FLUID SPRAYERS DIDN'T WORK I WOULDN'T CARE ANYMORE. BUT WE CAN'T DRIVE IT, WE CAN'T RESELL IT. WE ARE REASONABLE PEOPLE, BUT FEEL WE'VE BEEN ROBBED OF 23,000 DOLLARS WITH NO WHERE TO TURN. WHAT CAN WE DO GOING FORWARD I HAVE EVERY SERVICE INVOICE EVER FOR THE HISTORY OF THE CAR, BUT I DON'T HAVE A SCANNER, I CAN MAIL THEM IF NEEDED PLEASE.

I COULD MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL SO I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND PUT CAR IN REVERSE TO GET INTO THE MEDIAN BEFORE GETTING HIT. MY GIRLS WERE SCREAMING AND CRYING. AFTER CARS PASSED I HAD TO SLAM THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO POP IT AND DRIVE LIKE I WAS IN MARIO CART TO GET HOME. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THIS PIECE OF CRAP CAR.

TODAY I TOOK IT AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED AND THERE IS A 3 MONTH WAIT FOR THE NECESSARY PARTS. THE VEHICLE JERKS AND SPUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING AND HAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING IN LOW GEARS IN PARTICULAR. THIS CREATES AN UNPLEASANT AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DRIVING EXPERIENCE FOR ALL INVOLVED. AFTER RESEARCHING TODAY I UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL FOR YEARS AND THERE HAS STILL NOT BEEN A RECALL, ALTHOUGH THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I FIND IT ABSURD THAT MY REPEATED TRIPS TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR HAVE ONLY PROVIDED FOR TEMPORARY, COSMETIC IMPROVEMENTS WHILE LEAVING THE KNOWN DEFECT IN PLACE AND THAT NOW THAT THEY ARE ACTIVELY ACKNOWLEDGING THE LARGER PROBLEM THERE IS A 3 MONTH WAIT TO HAVE THE PROPER REPAIR PERFORMED.

JUST YESTERDAY, I COULD NOT SLOW THE CAR WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH, DESPITE PRESSING THE BRAKES, DUE TO THE ERRATIC BEHAVIOR OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS LURCHING, JERKING, ERRATIC BEHAVIOR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD POTENTIALLY BE DEADLY. I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION WORKED ON A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. EACH TIME, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED. THIS IS HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE FOR FORD TO IGNORE THIS ISSUE AND CONTINUE TO PUT CUSTOMERS IN HARMS WAY. THIS IS AN INAPPROPRIATE WAY TO HANDLE A LIFE-THREATENING ISSUE.

CAR HAS ALWAYS HAS A HEISTATION ON TAKE OFF ROLE BACKWARDS ON INCLINES AND SHUDDERS LIKE CRAZY! MY WIFE WHO OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE CAR COMPLAINING SHE DOESN'T FEEL SAFE IN IT. JUST TOOK IT BACK TO FORD WEEK OF FEBURARY 1ST AND THEY ARE NOW TELLING ME THE SEALS AND CLUTCH NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1500.00 TO ME AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED IN NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR AT 93,000 MILES. I DRIVE 480 MILES ROUND TRIP A WEEK TO WORK NOT INCLUDING GRAND KIDS SPORTING EVENTS. I FEEL FORD HAS SOLD ME A CAR AND NOW WANT TO PUNISH ME FOR THE MILES I DRIVE. I HAVE SOME PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON WHAT WORK THEY HAVE DONE.
