11/4/2015 - PARKED AT RESTAURANT THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN PARKING LOT OPENED THE DOOR AND WHEN CLOSING IT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR SUDDENLY QUIT LATCHING AND WON'T LOCK. THE DOOR SWINGS OPEN FREELY AND SLAMS AGAINST THE FRAME AND MY ELBOW AS THE CAR IS MOVING. THE ALARM AND DASH WARNINGS GO OFF CONSTANTLY AS THE SWITCH CAN'T BE DEPRESSED PROPERLY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO PREMATURE PRODUCT FAILURE. FORD SAYS IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL IF THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IT'S A PLASTIC LATCH JUST LIKE THE FORD FIESTA, FUSION, AND MKZ LATCHES UNDER CURRENT RECALL.
I'M WRITING ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT I FEEL IS A SAFETY DEFECT. MY CAR STARTED IDLING VERY ERRATICALLY AND THE AMBER ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE VAPOR CANISTER CONTROL SOLENOID FAILED, DRAWING A VACUUM IN THE FUEL TANK WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO COLLAPSE. IT ALSO FILLED THE VAPOR CANISTER WITH FUEL. THEY SAY THE RAW FUEL FROM THE CANISTER IS BEING DRAWN INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ERRATIC IDLE. THIS IS NOT ONLY A PROBLEM WITH JUST MY VEHICLE, BUT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S BEYOND COSTLY AND THROUGH NO FAULT OF THE OWNERS, OUR CARS ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE!
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY AT AROUND 26000 MILES FOR LEAKING, AND AGAIN AT 56000 MILES FOR A BULLETIN (NOT A RECALL, IT HAD TIME/MILEAGE PARAMETERS). THE MOST RECENT SERVICE, FOR THE BULLETIN, WAS A REPROGRAM OF THE TCM. FOLLOWING THIS WORK, VEHICLE SLIPS IN AND OUT OF GEAR, SEIZING UP ON HILLS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS (UPHILL AND DOWNHILL), AND STOPPING THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS: FIVE, TO BE SPECIFIC, ALL THIS YEAR: ON A BUSY FREEWAY INTERCHANGE RAMP AND ON FOUR OCCASIONS WHILE TURNING IN AN INTERSECTION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR CANNOT BE MOVED, THE GEAR SHIFT STICKS AND CANNOT BE MOVED, AND THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN RUNNING "ROUGH" SINCE THE REPROGRAM. IT GRINDS, SHUDDERS, AND LURCHES. NOTE: THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE SEIZED UP WAS BEFORE THE REPROGRAMMING, AND THE OTHER TIMES WERE ALL SINCE THIS WORK WAS DONE. ON ALL OF THE OCCASIONS WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO AN ABRUPT HALT AND I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED. IN THE INSTANCE WHERE THE KEY HAS BEEN STUCK, WAITING A FEW MINUTES (MORE THAN 5 BUT LESS THAN 10) HAS ALLOWED ME TO CYCLE THE KEY AND RE-START THE VEHICLE, AND THEN IT WAS MOBILE AGAIN. I SHOULD NOTE THAT THE DOWNHILL ASSIST DASH LIGHT AND THE DOWNHILL ASSIST FEATURE (OPERATED BY A BUTTON ON THE GEARSHIFT) BOTH COME ON WITHOUT THE BUTTON BEING TOUCHED OR EVEN PRESSED. A VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY SLOWING TO A STOP ON A FREEWAY INTERCHANGE AT SPEED IS IN MY OPINION A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A HISTORY OF SUDDEN LURCHES FORWARD WHILE BRAKING AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS BOGGED DOWN ON OTHER OCCASIONS IN THE PAST, BUT NOWHERE NEAR AS FREQUENTLY AS IT DID ONCE I PASSED ABOUT 48000 MILES.
MY CAR HAS SHUDDERED SINCE I BOUGHT IT . IT ALSO DID THE ROLL BACK ISSUES AS WELL. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 60,000 MILES ON IT. IT SLIPS GEARS, STRUGGLES TO GET UP HILLS, STRUGGLES TO GET GOING AT LIGHTS, STRUGGLES IN TRAFFIC WHEN IDELING, AND SHUDDERS. I CALLED FORD TO COMPLAIN AT FIRST THEY SEEMED INTERESTED. THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP WITH ME AFTER THE LATEST REPROGRAMMING. WELL THE REPROGRAMMING WAS COMPLETED AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME THINGS AS BEFORE. FORD'S RESPONSE WELL GIVE IT A FEW DAYS. I ASKED WHEN THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP SINCE I JUST TOLD YOU IT IS NOT FIXED WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP. THEIR RESPONSE CALL US WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND CLOSED MY CASE. THEY NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. I AM WAITING FOR MY TRANSMISSION TO COMPLETELY FAIL SINCE IT STRUGGLES TO SHIFT INTO GEARS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND THE CAR IS A LEMON.
TRANSMISSION/ CLUTCH HAS ALWAYS GIVEN US PROBLEMS. WE HAVE BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS MORE TIMES THEN I CAN COUNT FOR SEALS ON THE CLUTCH, REPROGRAMMING AFTER REPROGRAMMING AND REPLACING THE CLUTCH ITSELF. IT STILL SHUDDERS LURCHES AND DOES NOT DRIVE SAFELY. I HAVE TRIED TO GET HELP AND GIVEN UP A THOUSAND TIMES OVER THE THREE YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THANK GOD IT HASN'T GOTTEN ME KILLED YET. CLUTCH GAVE OUT AGAIN THE OTHER DAY AND IT BUCK AND JERKED HARDER THAN IT EVER HAS. I PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF SOMEONE AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE FOR A WHOLE 1 MIN. WAS GETTING READY WITH MY FLASHERS TO PULL OVER THEN IT BUCKED AND ROLLED ENOUGH TO GET TO MY HOUSE... I'M NOW PAST THE FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY... $1700 QUOTE FROM THE DEALER TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PART THAT WILL MOST LIKELY FAIL AGAIN WITHIN THE YEAR. HOW CAN THEY CONTINUE TO TRY AND COVER UP THIS ISSUE??
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM FAILED. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK BECAME UNLOCKED AND CAUSED THE DOOR TO OPEN WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
CAR WAS STATIONARY, WHEN REAR PASSENGER DOOR WAS OPENED FOR SOMEONE TO ENTER, IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. LATCH SEEMS BROKEN, DOOR MUST BE SECURED WITH CORDS. IT IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO THEFT THUS.
2015 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWER SHIFT DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE FAILURE. *LD *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. AFTER FUEL WAS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE, IT STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THERE WAS LESS THAN HALF A TANK OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD STALL THEN TOO. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS INOPERABLE AND DID NOT DISPLAY THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FIVE STAR FORD LINCOLN OF WARNER ROBINS (900 RUSSELL PKWY, WARNER ROBINS, GA 31088, (478) 273-8151) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT PASS THE TEST; THEREFORE, IT WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED PER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT, THE VEHICLE RESUMED TO NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER, FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN MIGHT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,365.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER AND THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE TECHNICIAN REFUSED TO REPAIR IT DUE TO A SALVAGED TITLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), BUT THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 20-40 MPH. WE SEE MISSHIFTING WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP, CLUTCH APPEARS TO SLIP AT TAKE OFF.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS, SKIPS, CANNOT FIND THE RIGHT GEAR. THIS IS A REAL HAZARD AS MY WIFE AND KIDS PULLED INTO TRAFFIC AND ALMOST GOT HIT. IT HAS BEEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND ALL FORD CAN DO IS FLASH THE SOFTWARE? WE NOW HAVE ABOUT 41K MILES AND THEY STILL CAN'T/WON'T FIX IT. THESE CARS ARE A REAL HAZARD AND I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHY A RECALL HASN'T BEEN PERFORMED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS DOCUMENTED PROBLEMS. WE ACTUALLY OWN ANOTHER 2012 FOCUS AND IT HAS BEEN FINE-EXCEPT THE TCM SUDDENLY WENT OUT (NO PRIOR SIGNIFICANT SHUDDERING). SINCE THE TCM WAS REPLACED (AFTER BEING STRANDED) IT SHIFTS SMOOTHLY. THE FOCUS WITH THE ORIGINAL TCM STILL HAS LOTS OF PROBLEMS AND THEY SIMPLY WILL FLASH THE SOFTWARE AND CALL IT FIXED. FORD IS ALSO DELAYING AS MANY REPAIRS AS THEY CAN BECAUSE DEMAND IS SO HIGH. I SUPPOSE WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEBODY TO DIE BEFORE A RECALL IS PERFORMED?
I HAVE HAD THE HORN FAIL TO OPERATE SEVERAL TIMES, THE PANIC MODE SOMEHOW GETS TRIGGERED AND WHEN I CAN FINALLY STOP THE HORN FROM BLOWING, THE HORN WILL NOT FUNCTION UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AFTERWARD. IT PRESENTS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO DEAL WITH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE STEERING GEAR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

MY FOCUS, AS SO MANY OTHERS HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. BUT, TODAY I'M WRITING ABOUT A NEW PROBLEM THAT I FEEL IS A SAFETY DEFECT. MY CAR STARTED IDLING VERY ERRATICALLY AND THE AMBER ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE VAPOR CANISTER CONTROL SOLENOID FAILED, DRAWING A VACUME IN THE FUEL TANK WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO COLLAPSE. IT ALSO FILLED THE VAPOR CANISTER WITH FUEL. I WILL ADMIT THAT MY VEHICLE HAS 124,000 MILES ON IT AND FORD WOULDN'T OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS SO I AM A LITTLE MIFFED. BUT, BETWEEN THE SAFETY ISSUE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURES AND NOW THE FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE AND COLLAPSED FUEL TANK, I FEEL THAT THIS VEHICLE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.........UPDATED 12/17/15 *BF UPDATED 6/14/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY VEERED TO THE LEFT OVER THE DOUBLE LINES WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ON 10/23/2015 AT 51,289 MILES, I TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE THE CAR INTERMITTERLY WOULD NOT START & WHEN TAKING OFF FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR, IT WAS JERKY. I WOULD HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS. I ALSO EXPERIENCED A RUBBING & SCRAPING SOUND THAT I FOUND OUT IS WHAT THEY SAID WAS THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDERING. THE CLUTCH & TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) WERE REPLACED UNDER THE FORD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS TSB15-0120 & TSB-15-0121. ON 10/12/2016 AT 71,906 MILES, I TOOK THE CAR BACK INTO THE SAME LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR SHUDDERING AGAIN. THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH AGAIN & REPROGRAMMED THE PCM/TCM & PREFORMED AN ADAPTIVE LEARN PROCEDURE. I STILL EXPERIENCE A GRINDING SOUND MAINLY WHILE TURNING, BUT HAVE BEEN ASSURED THAT IT IS NORMAL & NOT AN ISSUE. MY MOST RECENT ISSUE IS MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON STATIONARY (NO FLASHING). I CURRENTLY HAVE LESS THAN 80,000 MILE ON THE CAR. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER & THE CAR GAVE CODE DTC B00C2-11-OCSM (RIGHT FRONT SEATBELT RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY SHORTED). IT WILL COST OVER $700 TO REPLACE!!! I WAS TOLD IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE AIRBAGS NEED TO DEPLOY, THEY WILL NOT DEPLOY......NONE OF THEM! LESS IMPORTANT PROBLEMS I'VE EXPERIENCED IS THE MANUAL LUMBAR IN THE DRIVER SEAT BROKE & THE "BEAUTY RING" AROUND THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH CRACKED. FORD DOES NOT SELL JUST THAT PIECE. YOU HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE COVER THAT ALSO GOES AROUND THE AIR VENT RIGHT ABOVE IT EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE SEPARATE PIECES CLIPPED TOGETHER, WHICH IS $45.
TOOK IT IN FOR A RECALL, BUT IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING, THEY SAID THEY MAY CHARGE ME THIS TIME IF IT IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT, BUT IT'S NOT ITS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LEFT THE VEHICLE THERE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT IT STALLED WHITOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,200.
THE CHROME TRIM ON THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BEGUN TO PEEL IN MULTIPLE PLACES. THIS WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION AFTER SOME OF THE PEELED AREAS LACERATED MY FINGERS WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING ME TO ABRUPTLY PULL MY HAND OFF OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND SWERVE THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO GRAB THE STEERING WHEEL AGAIN AS MY FINGERS WERE BLEEDING. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CLOCK SPRING, CONNECTS POWER TO THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, CRUISE CONTROL, SYNC, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY THE AIR BAG. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED 2 TIMES, I NEED IT REPLACED AGAIN. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL JUST SHUT OFF AT TIMES, I CAN BE IN THE MIDDLE OF A LOT OF TRAFFIC. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT WORK IF I AM IN A CRASH. FORD SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE A CLOCK SPRING PROBLEM, BUT AGAIN I NEED IT REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME. I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH CRUISE CONTROL MANY TIMES PER DAY.
SPOUSE WAS DRIVING KIDS HOME FROM SCHOOL LATE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON (10-20-2015). YOUNG TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS IN THE DRIVERS SIDE, REAR SEAT, SEAT BELTED AND RESTING AGAINST THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON OUR CITY STREET WHEN SHE MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. THE DRIVER SIDE, REAR DOOR SUDDENLY OPENED AND MY DAUGHTER SCREAMED, HER BACKPACK FELL OUT OF THE CAR. MY SPOUSE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE CAR AND FOUND THAT THE DRIVER SIDE, REAR DOOR LATCH WAS NO LONGER LATCHING CLOSED. SPOUSE NO LONGER DRIVING VEHICLE TODAY. I HAVE THE DOOR HELD CLOSED WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE, REAR SEAT BELT. I AM UNABLE TO LOCK/SECURE MY VEHICLE AND THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN THERE IS NO PRESSURE PUSHING/PULLING THE DOOR CLOSED. DAUGHTER WAS NOT INJURED.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL HAS LESS THAN 9,000 MILES. ON OCTOBER 20, 2015 I GOT IN MY CAR TO DRIVE IT AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD - NOTHING WORKED. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE BATTERY OUT, HAD IT CHECKED, BUT IT WAS FINE. HE PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN AND THE CAR STARTED. HE THEN DROVE MY CAR TO HIS LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE THE BATTERY CHECKED AGAIN TO SEE IF SOMETHING WAS DRAINING THE POWER FROM IT TO CAUSE THE CAR NOT TO START. AGAIN THE BATTERY CHECKED OUT FINE. AS MY HUSBAND WAS LEAVING THE MECHANICS, HE PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE, STARTED BACKING UP, AND OUT OF NO WHERE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. HE SAID A POWER STEERING FAULT WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH. I WAS HORRIFIED THAT THIS HAPPENED AND EVEN MORE HORRIFIED THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME THAT WAS DRIVING MY CAR WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I'M JUST RELIEVED THAT MY HUSBAND WASN'T DRIVING ON A MAJOR ROAD OR HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM AND FOUND OUT THERE WERE A COUPLE TRANSMISSION RECALLS FOR MY CAR. THE SERVICE GUY SUGGESTED THAT ONE OF THE TRANSMISSION RECALLS WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR MY CAR BEING COMPLETELY DEAD AND NOT STARTING. HOWEVER, HE SAID THERE WAS A POWER STEERING FAULT AND THE POWER STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED TO THE TUNE OF $1,700.00. WOW. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN TO MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL THAT HAS LESS THAN 9,000 MILES ON. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? I WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING IS AN "ELECTRONIC" COMPONENT AND ANYTHING ELECTRONIC CAN GO ANYTIME. IS IT JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT ON THE DAY THAT MY CAR WON'T START DUE TO THE FORD RECALL 15B22 THAT THE POWER STEERING GETS "SHORTED" OUT AND I END UP HAVING TO PAY $1,711.89 TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY AND FOR THEM TO "REPROGRAM" IT? I DON'T THINK IT'S A COINCIDENCE THESE 2 EVENTS HAPPENED TOGETHER - ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS "TALK" TO EACH OTHER.

IN 2014 I WAS DRIVING FROM GRAND FORKS, ND TO BEMIDJI, MN ON THE INTERSTATE GOING AROUND 60 WHEN MY CAR SHUDDERED AND SLOWED DOWN TO CLOSE TO 15. I WAS ABLE TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER AFTER BEING STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE I WAS ABLE TO CALL FOR HELP. MY CAR WAS THEN TAKEN THE THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN BEMIDJI AND I HAD SOMEONE PICK ME UP AND WAS ABLE TO BRING ME BACK TO GRAND FORKS. (FORD HAD REFUSED TO GIVE A RENTAL) AROUND 2 WEEKS AFTER I GOT A CALL STATING THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS FIXED. I GOT A RIDE TO BEMIDJI, PICKED IT UP AND HEADED HOME. SHORTLY AFTER I GOT IT BACK TO GRAND FORKS I WAS DRIVING AROUND A RESIDENTIAL AREA IN GRAND FORKS WHEN I STOPPED AT A 4 WAY STOP WAITING FOR MY TURN, WENT TO GO FORWARD AND MY CAR STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BREAK SO I DIDN'T HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME THEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. THEY "FIXED" THE ISSUES AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME TWO MORE TIMES, EACH TIME I COULDN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT IT SHUDDERING AND REFUSING TO SHIFT. FINALLY THEY "FIXED" IT AT THE END OF THE SUMMER IN 2014. THIS SUMMER I WAS NOTICING THE CAR WAS SHUDDERING WHEN I WAS IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS AND IT WAS STOP AND GO, I BROUGHT IT BACK DOWN THE THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY ASSURED ME IT WAS FINE BUT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PARTS TO BE SURE. THIS WEEKEND I WENT HOME TO THE CITIES AND AS I WAS DRIVING BACK IT BROKE AGAIN. I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE GOING AROUND 70 WHEN MY CAR SHUDDERED, WENT DOWN TO 55, SHUDDERED AGAIN AND WENT DOWN TO 10. I WAS FORCED TO SWERVE QUICKLY INTO THE LEFT SHOULDER SINCE I HAD A SEMI-TRUCK BEHIND ME GOING 70 THAT ALMOST HIT ME AND HAD TO CROSS THE INTERSTATE TO AN OFF RAMP TO BE SAFE. THEY HAVE "FIXED" IT FOUR TIMES AND IT STILL BREAKS DOWN. I'VE ALMOST GOTTEN INTO 4 ACCIDENTS, MISSED DAYS FROM WORK AND I'M TOO SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT THIS POINT.
WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN ON A CITY STREET MY STEERING WHEEL IMMEDIATELY BECAME VERY HARD TO MANEUVER. I HAD TO BRAKE AS TO KEEP MY SELF FROM GOING FORWARD RATHER THAN TURNING SINCE MY STEERING WHEEL SEEMED AS THOUGH IT WAS LOCKED. I THEN REALIZED THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY OUT, THEN THE DISPLAY AND SOUND CAME ON, STATING THAT THERE WAS A STEERING MALFUNCTION AND TO REFER TO MY MANUAL. I THEN CAREFULLY AND FORCEFULLY STEERED THE VEHICLE INTO A VACANT PARKING LOT. I READ THE MANUAL AND ATTEMPTED TO CYCLE POWER TO THE VEHICLE TO CLEAR THE ISSUE. THIS DID NOT WORK. I NOW HAVE NO POWER STEERING AND THE VEHICLE SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY. IT HAS 65K MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED HAD I KNOWN SOO MANY HAD THIS ISSUE.
I HAVE HAD MY PASSANGER DOOR LATCH REPLACED A FEW MONTHS AGO AS IT WAS NOT SHUTTING , ON SATURDAY THE 17 OF OCT 2015 I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY DOOR OPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVIVG NOW THAT DRIVERS DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN ? 10/19/20215 SERVICE ADVISOR STATES THERE IS A CHARGE OF $411.00 I AM 5 MONTHS PREGNANT AND CANT AFFORD THAT BECAUSE WHAT ARE THAT CHANCHES OF TWO DOORS BEING DEFECTIVE , I HAD TO CALL IN TO WORK AS I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION MY DOOR WILL NOT SHUT .

THE VEHICLE HAS A GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. IT WILL ALSO SHUDDER AND SHAKE WHEN DRIVING. VEHICLE HAS HAD ALL UPDATES DONE BY THE DEALER AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS. FORD SAID THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH.
ON 10/15/15 MY CAR STALLED AND COMPLETELY PULLED BACK , DIED DOWN TO ALMOST A HALT THEN KICKED INTO GEAR AGAIN , LIKE A PULL AND LET GO MOTION. OUT OF NOWHERE, THIS GAVE ME A SCARE SINCE I WAS DRIVING AND COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS COMPLETE STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON N.E. 163RD STREET NORTH MIAMI BEACH TOWARDS BISCAYNE BLVD. ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND A SCREEN MESSAGE SHOWED UP ASKING ME TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW! I HAVE HAD TO PARK CAR UNTIL I FIGURE WHAT TO DO? THIS CAR HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A PROBLEM FOR ME, FIRST WITH THE BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WHERE DOOR JUST FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING, (THAT'S A DIFFERENT CLAIM I HAVE PLACED WITH NHTSA). I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP FIXING THESE PROBLEMS APPEARING TO THIS FORD FOCUS. RADIO ALSO WENT DEAD WITH A SUPER LOUD DISRUPTING POP SOUND AND LOUD STATIC ELECTRICAL NOISES WHICH COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED BY LOWERING VOLUME OR TURNING OFF RADIO , THIS LOUD POP SOUND STARTLED ME ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON TURNPIKE FROM DAVIE TOWARDS NORTH MIAMI BEACH. WOULD LIKE TO GET FORD MOTOR TO RECOGNIZE THAT MY FORD FOCUS 2012 IS A LEMON, IF NOT THE RIGHT TERM THEN IT'S A PRODUCT OF SHODDY PARTS USED TO CONSTRUCT THIS CAR.
POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD MULTIPLE TIMES. ALSO SOMETIMES WHEN YOU START THE VEHICLE THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED UP FOR ABOU 30 SECONDS THEN EXCISES TO WORK.
TRANSMISSION HESITATION AND CAR JERKING WHEN ACCELERATING AT ESPECIALLY LOWER SPEEDS. SHUTTERING SOUND AND LACK OF POWER AND THEN SUDDEN ACCELERATION AFTER THE HESITATION. FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HAVE HAD IN FOR FORD SERVICE 3 TIMES AND GOING BACK FOR FOURTH TIME THIS WEEK. NEVER SEEMS FIXED. INCLINED STOPS ON HILLS AND INTERSECTION QUICK ACCELERATION ARE VERY BAD.
DURING ACCELERATION FROM STOP, THE 2012 FORD FOCUS BEGAN STALLING WHEN AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTING. A CHECK ENGINE INDICATION TURNED ON WHEN THE CAR STALLED. THE FORD FOCUS THEN SHIFTED INTO A HIGHER GEAR AND ACCELERATED VERY SLOWLY. ON THE HIGHWAY THE FOCUS ACCELERATED SLOWLY AND SOMETIMES SHIFTED MOMENTARILY INTO NEUTRAL WHILE THE SHIFTER IS SET TO DRIVE AND THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. THIS WAS INDICATED BY A CHANGE IN THE TACHOMETER TO HIGH RPM THAT DIDN'T CORRESPOND TO A CHANGE IN CAR SPEED. THE PROBLEM BEGAN OCCURING ONCE THE CAR HAD BEEN OPERATED FOR A WARMING PERIOD OF TIME SUCH AS 30 MINUTES. THEN THE PROBLEM PERSISTED UNTIL THE CAR IS LEFT OFF FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME (THE NEXT DAY). THESE STALLS PUT MYSELF IN DANGER BECAUSE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO MATCH TRAFFIC SPEEDS OR CROSS INTERSECTIONS. THE STALLS ALSO PUT ME IN DANGER BECAUSE THE FORD FOCUS SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE CARS BEHIND MINE EXPECTED ME TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. I UNDERSTAND FORD HAS RECOGNIZED A PROBLEM THAT CAN LEAD TO THIS DUE TO LEAKING TRANSMISSION SEALS CONTAMINATING THE CLUTCH PACK. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. FORD "REPROGRAMMED" THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT WHICH WAS RECALLED AND SAID A SUBSEQUENT TEST DRIVE SHOWED NO PROBLEMS. THE NEXT DAY I DROVE THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES, AFTER WHICH THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED. I ASKED THE FORD DEALER IF THEY COULD APPLY THE CLUTCH RECALL. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A WARRANTY EXTENSION AND NOT A RECALL. THEY SAID GETTING THE PROBLEM FIXED UNDER WARRANTY WAS USELESS BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED FOR MORE THAN A MONTH. IN MY OPINION, IF FORD KNOWS THERE IS A DEFECT BUT IS NOT PROCURING PARTS TO SERVE THE NEW EXTENDED WARRANTY, THEY SHOULD BE FORCED BY THE CORRECT AGENCY TO RECALL THE CAR AND REPAIR THEM WITHIN A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V523000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

ON OCTOBER 8, 2015, THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT AND THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. AT PRESENT THE DOOR IS BEING HELD CLOSED WITH A BUNGEE CORD. PART IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE FROM FORD.
AFTER TCM RECALL REPLACEMENT THE STEERING WOULD WANDER. BY THIS I MEAN LOOSE WHEEL AT HIGH SPEEDS WITH TOUGH SPOTS. NEW TIRES AND ALIGNMENT HAVE BEEN DONE WITH NO CORRECTION OF THIS PROBLEM. FORD WILL NOT ADMIT AN ISSUE AND WILL ONLY DIAGNOSE AFTER I AGREE TO PAY THEM FOR DOING SO. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS STALLED IN TRAFFIC. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN TRAFFIC SIGNAL TURNED GREEN, MY VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. I HAD NO POWER TO MOVED FORWARD. THE NEEDLE FOR SHIFTING OF GEARS WENT ALL THE WAY OVER TO 8 &9. TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL IN TRAFFIC & TRANSMISSION LIGHT STAYED ON. THIS HAPPENED ON OCTOBER 07, 2015.

MY ISSUE APPEARS TO BE REMARKABLY SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE WITH RECALL NUMBER 12V149000, THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL AS IT APPEARS IT WAS MANUFACTURED A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE LATEST MANUFACTURE DATE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I AM EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL ISSUES AS DESCRIBED IN THAT RECALL. MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL. I BELIEVE RECALL NUMBER 12V149000 SHOULD BE EXPANDED, BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE MORE MODELS ARE AFFECTED BY THE MISSING SEAL IN THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. I HAVE DONE NOTHING TO THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OUTSIDE OF REPLACING THEM EVERY 1-2 YEARS AS THEY WEAR OUT.

WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THE STEERING SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO MANAGE. THINKING THAT THIS WAS A TEMPORARY ISSUE I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A SHORT DISTANCE BUT FELT VERY UNSAFE TO CONTINUE MY TRIP AND RETURNED HOME.
