I HAD BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR LOSING POWER WHEN ACCELERATING AND SHUDDERING REALLY BADLY. A MONTH BEFORE THE RECALL LETTER CAM OUT FOR THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE CAR. AFTER I GOT THE RECALL LETTER I WENT BACK FOR A FREE DIAGNOSTIC AND INFORMED THEM OF THE WARNING LIGHT THAT WAS OFTEN APPEARING THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED". THEY SAID IT WOULD BE A SEPARATE $145 TO DIAGNOSIS THAT PROBLEM. AFTER TAKING NEARLY 4 MONTHS TO GET THE PART IN MY CAR WASN'T ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR DRIVING HOME ONE NIGHT FROM WORK SO I HAD TO FIND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO TAKE IT TO. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLACE THE RECALLED PARTS WITH IN 1 WEEK AND THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE STEERING THAT I HAD DESCRIBED TO THE PREVIOUS DEALERSHIP I ALSO INFORMED THEM ABOUT. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR THEY TOLD ME I SHOULDN'T HAVE THAT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRE" AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP. 3 WEEKS AFTER GETTING MY CAR BACK ONE NIGHT MY HUSBAND AND I GOT IN THE CAR TO DRIVE TO A RESTAURANT AND COULD EVEN LEAVE THE PARKING LOT BECAUSE THE SAME MESSAGE APPEAR AND MY CARS POWER STEERING IS NOW JUST COMPLETELY OUT. BEFORE IT WOULD CORRECT ITSELF AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF BUT NOW ITS JUST STUCK AND I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR. FORD CORPORATE BASICALLY TOLD ME SINCE THERE ISN'T A RECALL IT ISN'T THEIR PROBLEM. AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY WOULD TOW IT AND RUN A DIAGNOSTIC AND IF IT ISN'T RELATED TO THE RECALL REPAIR I'M RESPONSIBLE TO THE COST OF TOWING AND REPAIR. ONLINE THIS REPAIR APPEARS TO BE $2,000ISH DOLLARS AND I DON'T HAVE THAT. SO BASICALLY FORD TOLD ME I WAS SOL....
RIGHT HAND REAR DOOR LATCH FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS MOVING FROM PARK WHEN DEFECT WAS WARNED BY THE DASHBOARD "DOOR OPEN" WARNING SYSTEM. (WARNING! THE FOLLOWING IS AN EDITORIAL, OR RANT, BY THE CAR OWNER. HE INTENDS TO SHAME THOSE AT FORD WHO DECIDE THAT THINGS LIKE DOOR LATCH ISSUES DO NOT SERVE THE BOTTOM LINE SO ARE UNIMPORTANT.) TO THOROUGHLY DESCRIBE THIS PROBLEM ONE NEED ONLY TO KNOW OF THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FORDS ALREADY RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. CAJOLING BY SOME SEEMS TO INCREASE THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL, WHICH DOES NOT YET INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE. AMONG OTHER THINGS, THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. PASSENGER SEATBELTS BEING MORE WIDELY USED DOES NOT ALLOW FOR DOOR LATCHES TO BE LESS EFFECTIVE! LET THE LUXURY OPTIONS FAIL BEFORE TEN YEARS, NOT THE BONES OF THE THING. WHO DECIDES TO CONTINUE USING BAD LATCH TECHNOLOGY FOR SO LONG? THIS IS NOT A CHALLENGE, IT IS A CHOICE.
HAD THE CAR FOR 10 DAYS, WENT TO START, AND RECEIVED A NOTICE "TRANSMISSION FAILURE- SERVICE NOW" THE CAR ENDED UP GETTING TOWED, AND NEEDED NEW TMS. EVEN AFTER THE FIX, THE CAR TRANSMISSION DRIVES AWFUL. CAR SHIFTS AT ODD TIMES, AND HAS EXTREMELY SLOW PICK UP FROM A COMPLETE STOCK. IM TERRIFIED THAT SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME WHILE DRIVING THE CAR! IVE SEEN OVER 1,000 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM, AND MOST OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THEY ARE STATING THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILS AND SHUTS DOWN, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE POWER OF THE CAR. I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT HAVEN'T FIXED THIS, CONSIDERING THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO SOMEONE, ALL BECAUSE THEY CHOSE TO BUY A FORD. IM NERVOUS TO DRIVE THE CAR, BECAUSE I FEAR THE TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL ON ME. FORD HAS AGREED THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS A PROBLEM, BUT THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED IT. NOW IM STUCK WITH THIS CAR THAT IM AFRAID TO DRIVE
I PURCHASED A FORD FOCUS MAY OF 2014, WITH 30,000 MILES ON IT. I HAD A FACTORY WARRANTY UP TO 60,000 MILES ON IT. I AM NOW AT 62,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND THE LATCH ON MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR BROKE AND MY DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH. IF I WERE NOT WEARING MY SEATBELT, I WOULD HAVE FLOWN OUT OF MY CAR TO MY DEATH! SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD TO BUNGIE MY FRONT DOORS SHUT, LEAVING ME NO ACCESS TO GET IN AND OUT OF MY CAR SAFELY, HAVING TO CRAWL IN MY BACKSEAT. I NEED THIS FIXED ASAP AND I AM NOT PAYING TO GET IT FIXED WITH SO MANY FORDS BREAKING DOWN.
POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION ERROR CODE UNABLE TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL. HAPPENS WHEN IT IS SITTING STILL AND YOU START THE CAR. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN THE SHOP 10 TIMES BETWEEN THIS AND THE TRANSMISSION. THEY HAVE REPLACED 2 ND GEAR, AND THE CLUTCH AND THEN TOLD ME NOTHING ELSE WAS WRONG WITH IT UNTIL MAY 2015 WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY QUIT AND IT WAS THE TCM . THE ERROR CAME UP THEN ON POWER STEERING FAILURE, BUT THEY DID NOT ADDRESS IT BECAUSE THEY WERE BLAMING IT ON THE TCM. SO SEPTEMBER 16TH IT STARTED JUTTING AGAIN WHEN TURNING RIGHT, ON OCTOBER THE 2ND I WENT OUT AT LUNCH TO RUN SOME ERRANDS AND OF COURSE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MALFUNCTION. YES THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 10 TIMES AND I EVEN ALREADY HAD TO PUT AN ALTERNATOR ON IT 9 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED IT. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF 4 OR 5 TIMES AND FINALLY I WAS ABLE TO CLEAR IT ENOUGH I DROVE IT TO THE FORD HOUSE WHERE IT'S SECOND HOME IS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED AND I WOULD OWE THEM OVER $1500 IN REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CATCH IT THE FIRST 10 TIMES WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THIS CAR IS A PIECE OF JUNK AND WHEN YOU CALL FORD THEY ACT LIKE THEY DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIS ISSUE, BUT IT IS EVERYWHERE. SO THEY RESET IT AND TOLD ME IT WILL GO OUT AGAIN PERMANENTLY AND HOPEFULLY I COULD GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. REALLY??? GIVE ME SOME ASSISTANCE IN GETTING IT REPAIRED. I HAVE HAD 10 NEW FORD PRODUCTS AND NEVER TROUBLE LIKE THIS. THIS IS ACTING LIKE MY CHEVY COBALT AND IT'S 7 RECALLS. RECALL IT ALREADY BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE FOR INNOCENT PEOPLE.
IN JULY 2015 THE LEFT FROND DOOR LATCH FAILED TO SECURE THE DOOR AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AS I WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. I HAD TO PAY A 100.00 DEDUCTIBLE BECAUSE THAT "SAFETY" FEATURE WAS NOT COVERED. THEN IN OCTOBER 2015 THE LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH FAILED TO SECURE AND I HAD TO REPEAT THE PROCESS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AS I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE ON THE I-10 FREEWAY WHILE REACHING IN THE BACK TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED AS THE DOOR LATCH WAS INOPERABLE. PLEASE REVIEW THIS SITUATION CAREFULLY AND CONSIDER THIS A RECALL SERVICE ITEM. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL DOORS BE SECURED WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLES ARE INOPERABLE IF THE DOOR LATCHES ARE NOT SECURING THE DOORS. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THIS MATTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED, THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,500.
POWER STEERING ASSIST INDICATOR COMES UP INTERMITTENTLY WHEN STARTING THE CAR OR WHILE DRIVING AND IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE CAR. NOW IT HAS NOT GONE OFF FOR DAYS AND I AM UNABLE TO SAFELY OPERATE MY VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED TO MY MOTHER A COUPLE OF TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AND SHE ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AT 70MPH. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS AND CORRECT THIS BEFORE THERE ARE ANYMORE ACCIDENTS OR DEATHS. THEY DID IT IN THEIR OTHER VEHICLES, WHY DID THEY LEAVE OUT THE FOCUS??? AND FOR THAT MATTER, WHEN IS THE NHTSA GOING TO FINALLY STEP IN????
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START AND THE KEY WAS NOT RECOGNIZED IN THE IGNITION. ALSO, THE 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT APPROPRIATELY AND THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON DUE TO THE FAILURE. THERE WAS ALSO A SUDDEN LOSS OF EPS AND THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED. THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER (DAVE KNAPP FORD LINCOLN, 500 WAGNER AVE, GREENVILLE, OH 45331, (800) 717-3673) WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AND TWO MANUFACTURER SERVICE CAMPAIGNS (TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDER/TRANSMISSION INPUT SHAFT SEAL - 14M01, TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE EXTENDED COVERAGE). DOOR LATCH ON DRIVER SIDE WILL NOT LATCH AND CLOSE, I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I KNOW THEY HAVE A RECALL FOR THE FORD FIESTA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, I AM PRETTY SURE THIS IS THE SAME LATCH ASSEMBLY THAT'S ON THE FIESTA.
DELAY ON STARTING, CHECK ENG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, VEHICLE IN REVERS AND WOULD NOT MOVE. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, CYCLED KEY AND NOTHING. CYCLED KEY 3-4 MORE TIMES NOTHING. CYCLED KEY HEARD CLICKING NOISE IN DASH AREA, CYCLED KEY ONE MORE TIME, VEHICLE STARTED AND TRANSMISSION ENGAGED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALER.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE INTERSTATE GOING ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT A SEMI WAS RIGHT NEXT TO ME AND I ALMOST WENT OFF THE TRYING TO KEEP FROM HITTING IT.
BOUGHT A NEW 2012 FORD FOCUS FOR MY DAUGHTER SO SHE WOULD BE SAFE. SHE JUST MOVED ACROSS THE STATE FOR COLLEGE. WE HAVE HAD CONSTANT SYMPTOMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND SHE HAS BEEN ON THE FREEWAY 3 TIMES WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY JUST COMES TO A CRAWL WITH THE ENGINE SHAKING AND JERKING. THIS MAKES THE CAR UNRESPONSIVE. DEALER UPDATED TCM - PCM AND REPLACED CLUTCH AND THROW OUT BEARING IN AUGUST 2015. SEPTEMBER 2015 SHE LETS ME KNOW THAT WHILE GOING TO SCHOOL ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR DID THE SAME THING, LOSS OF POWER NO CONTROL OF THROTTLE AND THE CAR IS SHAKING AND JERKING. TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. JERKING AND SHUDDERING OF THE TRANSMISSION. I'M AFRAID MY DAUGHTER AND OTHERS ARE GOING TO BE SEVERELY INJURED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. NO CONTROL ON THE FREEWAY IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE READ THAT PEOPLE HAVE CHANGED THEIR CLUTCH AND BEARING 5 TIMES? IT DOESN'T SEEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW. IT'S LIKE PUTTING A BAND-AID ON AN OPEN ARTERY. PROBLEM HAPPENS AT SLOW AND FAST SPEEDS.
SEPTEMBER 28 2015 THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. I PAID $335 FOR THE REAR DOOR LATCH TO BE REPLACED. TODAY, JUNE 19, 2016, MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. I COMMUTE TO WORK AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH THIS DEFECT.
SHUTTERING, NO POWER TO WHEELS, VERY SLOW AND SUDDENLY ENGAGING, EXCESSIVE CLUTCH SLIP, LOST REVERSE. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TRYING TO CROSS TRAFFIC, AT THE STOP SIGN I PROCEEDED TO GO ACROSS TRAFFIC TO THE MEDIAN TURN LANE. CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE GEAR, WHEN IT DID IT WAS VERY SLOW AND NO POWER EVEN WITH GAS MASHED TO THE FLOOR. ALL THIS TIME I HAD CARS APPROACHING ME FROM THE SOUTH BOUND LANE, VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. I THEN DECIDED TO JUST MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND GET OFF THE ROAD, WHICH WAS HARD BECAUSE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST IN THIS CAR WENT OUT MONTHS AGO WITH STILL NO RECALL ON THIS DEFECT. I TURNED RIGHT DOWN A SIDE STREET AND TRIED TO TURN AROUND ONLY TO FIND OUT I HAVE NO REVERSE GEAR NOW, I AM SO OVER THIS LEMON OF A CAR. BUYERS BEWARE, STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM FORD PRODUCTS ESPECIALLY THIS MODEL CAR. FORD TOUTS THAT THEY ARE COMMITTED TO SAFETY, I FIND THAT HILARIOUS. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU LET A VEHICLE WITH THE TRACK RECORD THIS MODEL HAS WITH STEERING GOING OUT AND TRANSMISSIONS JUST QUITTING WHEN THEY WANT TO, TO STILL BE ON THE ROAD? A LIFE THREATENING DANGER TO THE DRIVER AS WELL AS ANYONE THAT IS SHARING THE ROAD WITH THE VEHICLE. THE NEXT DAY, ENGINE LIGHT GONE, CAR SHIFTS NORMAL?????? VEHICLE IS AT FORD NOW, THEY HAVE A RECALL TO RE-PROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE?
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A DRIVE THUR MY CAR SUDDENLY BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN AND A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH STATING "STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION". I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE OKAY. NOW I AM WORRIED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN BUT IN A MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION. THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ABOUT AND IT'S NOT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN IT'S WHEN. ALSO TONIGHT I EXPERIENCED MY REAR RIGHT SIDE DOOR IS NOT ABLE TO CLOSE AT ALL. WHICH I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT BOTH OF THESE SAFETY CONCERNS. THAT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, I AM VERY THANKFUL THAT I REALIZED THIS BEFORE DRIVING AWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN!!!!

REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED-- DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED AS A RESULT.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL SEDAN. I WAS REMOVING SOME ITEMS FROM THE BACK SEAT AND UPON CLOSING THE RIGHT-HAND REAR DOOR THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. TRIED LOCKING THE DOOR REMOTELY BEFORE CLOSING. NO EFFECT. TRIED JOGGING THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM TO SEE IF IT WAS STUCK SOMEHOW. NO EFFECT. I HAVE TO TIE A STRING TO THE DOOR HANDLE FROM THE INSIDE AROUND THE FRONT PASSENGER HEADREST IN ORDER TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED! TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, THE FRONT-PASSENGER DOOR LATCH MECHANISM FAILED LESS THAN A WEEK AGO! A REPLACEMENT PART IS ON ORDER FOR IT FROM MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. FORTUNATELY, THE FRONT DOOR WILL STAY CLOSED IF IT IS LOCKED BEFORE CLOSING IT, BUT THIS IS STILL A RIDICULOUS COMPONENT FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON A LARGE HIGHWAY MY 2012 FORD FOCUS TURNED IT SELF OFF. THE ACCELERATOR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND THE CAR LOST SPEED QUICKLY. DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE ALLOWED ME TO CAREEN OFF ONTO THE MEDIAN WITHOUT INJURY OR ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT IN WHICH THIS CAR HAS EXHIBITED A LOSS OF POWER AND SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER ALLEGED TO FIX THE ISSUE THE FIRST TIME AND A SERVICE NOTICE HAD BEEN RECENTLY ISSUED. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE DEALER THE SERVICE NOTICE MAY NOT BE A FACTOR IN THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS RUST ON THE BODY AND SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR FRACTURED THREE TIMES. THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR WAS REPAIRED, BUT FORD DECLINED TO REPAIR THE RUST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,513.
MY CAR ONLY HAS 4500 MILES! THE CARS TRANSMISSION IS JUNK! THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE PERIOD! THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION! ON THE CITY STREETS, I HAVE RUINED TWO 700 WHEELS TRYING TO PARK ON A HILL! THE CAR WILL NOT HOLD IN DRIVE OR REVERSE! I HAD A HIGHWAY PATROL CAR BEHIND ME AT A LIGHT, I WAS GOING RIGHT, THERE WAS A SLIGHT UPGRADE. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS IN DRIVE, AND HIT THE HIGHWAY PATROL CAR! VEHICLE HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS, RECENT OIL CHANGE, AND HAD BATTERY REPLACED WITH NEW ONE AS RECOMMENDED. FOLLOWING BATTERY REPLACEMENT THE VEHICLE AGAIN SLOWED TO A STOP WITH SHIFT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS DONE AND TOLD IT WOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY. APPROX 30 MILES LATER THE VEHICLE AGAIN CAME TO A STOP, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE, ONLY THE GEAR IT WAS IN BLINKED. TOLD BY SEPARATE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THE TCM MODULE NEEDS REPLACEMENT. PRIOR TO SOFTWARE UPDATE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO ON, BUT AFTER THAT IT WOULD NOT BUT THE VEHICLE DID CONTINUE TO COME TO A STOP. COULD REV THE ENGINE BUT TO NO AVAIL. STOPPING INCIDENTS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A FEW DAYS. I DROVE HOME AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CODE WAS NOT ON AND THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING THOUGH THERE WAS A GROAN COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL EVERY TIME I HAD TO TURN. I DROVE TO WORK TRYING TO ASCERTAIN WHAT WOULD GO ON AND ABOUT 25 MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE, WHILE DOING 50 MILES AN HOUR, I LOST POWER STEERING AGAIN. I GOT TO WORK, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND CAME BACK OUT 9 HOURS LATER AND THE POWER STEERING HAD AGAIN RESET ITSELF AND WORKED ALL THE WAY BACK TO MY HOUSE. I CAME OUT OF A STORE AND GOT INTO MY VEHICLE TO DRIVE OVER TO MY JOB IN THE SAME SHOPPING CENTER. AT THE TIME, MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCHED PROPERLY BUT UPON GETTING OUT OF MY VEHICLE AT WORK, 30 SECONDS LATER, MY DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT LATCH. IN ORDER TO LEAVE WORK THAT NIGHT, I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT WITH A ROPE. THANK GOD MY YOUNG SON WAS NOT WITH ME AND THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION AT THE TIME. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN AND ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE MORE PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND GET SERIOUSLY INJURED. FORD HAS ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON SOME OTHER MODELS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I STRONGLY BELIEVE WE HAVE COME ACROSS YET ANOTHER MODEL WITH FAULTY DOOR LATCHES. I HAVE NOT HAD THE ISSUE FIXED YET DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUNDS BUT WILL BE FIXING IT SOON.
