DRIVER'S SIDE CAR DOOR SWUNG OPEN IN PARKING LOT. DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE OR LATCH AT ALL. COULD HAVE CAUSED INJUY OR DAMAGE.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE NOTIFICATION LIGHT CAME ON AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. WENT AWAY WITH A RESTART OF THE CAR. NEXT TIME WE TURNED IT ON THE SAME MESSAGE WAS THERE AS WELL AS THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND NOW IT SEEMS TO BE PERMANENT PROBLEM. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FORD HAS RECALLED SEVERAL OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND ALTHOUGH IT IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IT HAS YET TO RECALL THE FOCUS. THIS IS ABSURD.
EXCESSIVE SHUDDERING/SHAKING UPON ACCELERATION, VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY POWER. ON 8/28 I WAS STOPPED AT LIGHT IN DRIVE AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, AFTER CHANGING GEARS I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT, A SHORT TIME LATER VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AGAIN IN DRIVE BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD ONLY GO 15 MPH CRAWLED TO THE DEALER WITH EMERGENCY FLASHERS. DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 5 DAYS AND COMPLETED THE SOFTWARE UPDATE PROGRAM 15B22, SINCE RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK I AM STILL EXPERIENCING LOW POWER AND SHUDDERING. HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED TAPPED ONCE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY POWER, VERY CONCERNED TO DRIVE VEHICLE TO TO LOSS OF POWER AND EXCESSIVE SHUDDERING. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY DID NOT HAVE A SENSE OF ANY LONG TERM FIX TO THIS ISSUE NOR DOES THE DEALERSHIP. DEALER STATES THEY ARE SLAMMED WITH THESE VEHICLES EVERY DAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR FAILED AND THE LATCH MECHANISM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. WE WERE STOPPED, THEN IT LOOKED LIKE THE TRAFFIC WAS MOVING SO I STARTED MOVING, I WAS ONLY IN FIRST GEAR THEN THE JEEP IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SUDDENLY, SO I HIT THE BRAKES, BUT I DIDN'T STOP I JUST KEPT MOVING AND RAN INTO THE TIRE OF THE JEEP. I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY I DIDN'T STOP BECAUSE I WASN'T EVEN GOING THAT FAST. . THE HOOD FOLDED INTO THE ENGINE, SO I WAS NOT ABLE TO START THE CAR. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND MEN FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUSHED IT OVER ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PUSHED THE BRAKES AGAIN AND NOTHING HAPPENED, SO I PULLED UP THE PARKING BRAKE TO MAKE THE CAR STOP ROLLING.
MY CAR STARTED STALLING WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT BACK FROM WORK YESTERDAY. IT HAPPENED QUITE A FEW TIMES ON MY 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTE DRIVE HOME. I WOULD HAVE TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR QUITE HARD TO GET IT TO MOVE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY AT THE DEALER TO GET IT CHECKED OUT, BUT THIS IS VERY CONCERNING FOR ME. THERE WAS ALSO ONE ISOLATED INCIDENT LAST WEEK WHERE I HAD IT ON DRIVE AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I KEPT PRESSING IT AND IT STARTED TO DRIVE AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT ENGAGE. DOOR CAN SWING OPEN AND SHUT WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING TO AN EARLY MORNING MEETING (5:30AM) WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SUDDENLY OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE THE DOOR OPENED, IT WOULD NO LONGER LATCH. THE CAR DOOR HAD TO BE MANUALLY HELD FIRMLY CLOSED FOR THE DURATION OF THE TRIP. WITH EVERY TURN, THE DOOR WOULD ATTEMPT TO FLY OPEN.
DRIVERSIDE FRONT DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM FAIL TO SECURE DOOR AS IT COULDN'T BE LOCK ADDING A SAFETY HAZARD WITH ONLY 37,000 + MILES IS UNHEARD OFF THIS TO HAPPENED ON A CAR AT THIS MILEAGE.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS TAKES A DANGEROUSLY SLOW AMOUNT OF TIME TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY AND SHUDDERS EXCESSIVELY AND VERY VISIBLY (AT ANY SPEED) WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS CAR IS A SAFETY CONCERN. JUST THIS WEEK IT IS NOT STARTING AT ALL. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR AND THEY WILL REPLACE IT FOR FREE. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM THAT OTHERS HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE THESE SAFETY ISSUES EVEN AFTER FORD REPLACES THEIR TRANSMISSION OR TRANSMISSION CLUTCH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT RAN OVER A CONCRETE CURB. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER THE INCIDENT, BUT FAILED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TCM SHORT CIRCUITED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

I AM THE OWNER OF A FORD FOCUS SE 2012 WITH A FAULTY DRIVER DOOR LATCH PLEASE UPGRADE RECALL TO INCLUDE FORD FOCUS DEARBORN, MICHIGAN FORD IS RECALLING 389,585 2012-'14 FORD FIESTA AND 2013-'14 FORD FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ VEHICLES TO FIX FAULTY DOOR LATCHES, THE AUTOMAKER ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY "THE DOOR LATCH IN THESE VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A BROKEN PAWL SPRING TAB, WHICH TYPICALLY RESULTS IN A CONDITION WHERE THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH," THE COMPANY SAID IN A STATEMENT. ON AUGUST 20, 2015, I WAS DRIVING MY FORD FOCUS ON ROUTE 38 IN ILLINOIS; DASHBOARD LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING "MALFUNCTION TRANSMISSION SERVICE NOW." IMMEDIATELY, I VISITED THE NEAREST VEHICLE SERVICE REPAIR SHOP AND REQUESTED THAT THE SERVICEMAN CHECK MY TRANSMISSION FLUID. I JUST THOUGHT THAT MAYBE SOMETHING HAPPENED WHILE I WAS GETTING AN OIL CHANGE. THE SERVICEMAN WAS VERY NICE TO CHECK MY VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE. SERVICEMAN SAID, THERE IS AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION WITH YOUR TRANSMISSION. HE REFERRED ME TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. OF COURSE MY FIRST STEP WAS TO CHECK ON LINE TO VERIFY IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON MY FORD FOCUS SEL. I VISITED THE FOLLOWING WEBSITE (HTTP://WWW.CARS.COM/RECALLS/FORD/FOCUS/2012/. THE SIGHT SHOWED "NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY RECALLS. RECALL NUMBER 13V523000 RECALL DATE: 10/30/2013. COMPONENT: POWER TRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM.PCM) ON AUGUST 20, 2015 AT 11:12 AM, I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT (800) 392-3673. I TOLD FOREST (CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE REP) THE PROBLEM THAT I WAS HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE. HE ASKED IF HE COULD PLACE ME ON HOLD TO CHECK FOR RECALLS; THE CALL WAS DISCONNECTED.. I CALL (800) 392-3673 AGAIN, I SPOKE TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE NAMED GABRIEL. GABRIEL INFORMED ME THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. GABRIEL SAID, FORD PROGRAM HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON MY TRANSMISSION AND IT IS COVERED UP TO $150,000 MILES. WHY IS FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY, IF THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHY WASN'T THIS VEHICLE RECALLED FOR THE POWER TRAIN? AFTER ALL, NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY RECALLS DID INDICATE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER TRAIN. IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT POWER TRAIN DO NOT USUALLY REQUIRE REPAIR ON VEHICLES WITH ONLY 59,000 MILES. FORD NEEDS TO IMMEDIATELY REPAIR MY VEHICLE OR REPLACE IT AT NO CHARGE.

ACCORDING TO FORD THE FIESTA HAS DISPLAYED THIS SAME PROBLEM; HOWEVER, MY PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND DEFLATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS WAS TAKEN INTO FORD DEALER ON 8/24/15 TO REPAIR A BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH, DOOR OPENED UP WHILE DRIVING ON TURNPIKE FROM DAVIE TO NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AND I HAD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ITEM WITH MY VIN # , COST ME $615.00 TO REPAIR. GOT MY CAR BACK SIX WEEKS LATER SINCE FORD MOTOR DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE FOR THIS LENGTH OF TIME. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE FIESTA AND FUSION 2012 BUT NOT FORD FOCUS. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP MY RECEIPT IN CASE THERE IS A RECALL STARTED ON THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM WITH FORD FOCUS AND MY VIN # IS INCLUDED.
VEHICLE MOVING TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES GEAR VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RESTARTED TO RESET TRANSMISSION,VEH STOPPED AT TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE LIGHT, STOP SIGN,RAILROAD CROSSING TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES GEAR. VEH NEEDS TO BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED TO BE ABLE TO MOVE. VEH IN SAID SITUATION REFUSES TO ACTKNOWLEDGE PARK SIGNAL SO. THAT IT CAN BE RESTARTED.VEH HAS BEEN IN MOTION AND HAD THIS HAPPEN VEH HAS BEEN STOPPED AND THIS HAS HAPPENED THIS IS ON GOING.
ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON, STARTING TO GET ON INTERSTATE, CAR WOULD NOT EXCELERATE PAST 30 MILE PER HOUR ALL THE WAY HOME ABOUT 45 MILES
WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ALONG WITH A WARNING IN THE INFORMATION CENTER: "STEERING ASSIST FAULT -SERVICE REQ'D". THE VEHICLE WAS STEERED TO THE CURB. AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING WORKED NORMALLY. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY TO SEE IF ANY COMPUTER CODES WERE REGISTERED. NO CODES WERE FOUND AND THE DEALER HAD NO ADVICE ON WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND WHETHER OR NOT IT WOULD RECUR.
AFTER STARTING CAR A WARNING BELL SOUNDED AND NOTIFICATION ON DASH SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAILURE". CALLED FORD AND SPOKE WITH SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. I GAVE HIM MY INFORMATION. HE TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THIS WOULD BE A OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE FOR THEM TO EVEN DIAGNOSE. HE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THAT HE HAS SEEN A "FEW" FOCUS'S WITH THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE EXACT SAME NATURE. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND AM AWAITING A RETURN CALL FROM THEM. THERE HAS BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED IN CALIFORNIA (PHILLIPS ET AL VS FORD MOTOR COMPANY) ON THIS SAME ISSUE. FORD DOES HAVE A RECALL ON THE FUSION #15S18 CONCERNING THIS SAME MALFUNCTION.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED WITH MY 2012 FORD FOCUS ON AUGUST 18, 2015 HAS NOW HAPPENED 2 ADDITIONAL TIMES SINCE THEN. ON 8/21/2015 MY VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF AT SKINNER & DAMULIS TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (FIELD SERVICE ACTION: 15B22 TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING FOR OVERT TCM FAILURE WARNING). ON AUGUST 27, 2015 WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 55 MPH AGAIN I HAD THE SAME LOSS OF POWER, THIS TIME HAD AN 18 WHEELER BEHIND ME THAT WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN, I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND NEEDED TO USE REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE, IT JUST REVVED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, CALLED FORD, AGAIN, AND TOLD THEM MY ISSUE. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE PHONE CALL I WAS ABLE TO PUT IN REVERSE. I RETURNED VEHICLE TO SKINNER & DAMULIS ON 9/3/2015, VEHICLE WAS "REPAIRED" ON 9/4/2015 AND INVOICE STATED MY CONCERN: CAR HAVING ISSUES WITH REVVING AND WON'T GO INTO REVERSE AT TIMES AND THEIR CORRECTION WAS THEY FOUND TCM & PCM SOFTWARE UPDATE AND PERFORMED SOFTWARE UPDATE. ON 9/25/2015 I AGAIN HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH REVVING WHILE DRIVING (35-40 MPH) AND WAS AGAIN UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE. CAR HAD 90,111 MILES AT THE TIME. CONTACTED FORD AND WAS GIVEN CASE# CAS-7944030 AND WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH JOHN FROM FORD BY MONDAY EVENING. THIS NO LONGER WORKS FOR ME. THIS CAR NEEDS TO GO, IT IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE, ME, PEOPLE IN ANOTHER VEHICLE, SOMETHING AND I AM NOT GOING TO HAVE MY FAMILY SUED BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. I NEED A VEHICLE AS AN OUTSIDE SALES PERSON AND NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE TAKEN BACK BY FORD AND DESTROYED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE UNLATCHED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT CONSISTENTLY LATCH CLOSED. CAR WAS PARKED WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THE DOOR WAS AJAR. HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR IMMOBILIZED BY SPEAKER WIRE AND HOLDING IT WITH MY HAND UNTIL I HAD TIME TO REPEATEDLY CLOSE IT IN HOPE OF IT STAYING SHUT. AFTER 45 MINUTES, IT STAYED SHUT UNTIL THE FEW TIMES I ACCIDENTALLY OPENED IT WITHOUT THINKING WHICH WOULD RESULT IN SIMILAR ADVENTURES IN GETTING IT TO CLOSE. SPEAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT PART I NEEDED WITHOUT MUCH EXPLAINING OF THE PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER IT.
ON THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT MY FAMILY AND I WERE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY HEADED TO THE BEACH, WHEN I WENT TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO MERGE ON THE HIGHWAY THE RPMS WENT UP BUT THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION FOR FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS CAUSING US TO LOSE SPEED WHILE MERGING. THE CAR THEN CHANGED GEAR REALLY HARD AND JUMPED US FORWARD ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN 3 TIMES NOW FOR TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH REPLACEMENT. IT WILL RANDOMLY SHUTTER, HESITATE, JERK AND JUMP FORWARD. ON ONE OTHER OCCASION IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO REAR END A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE LAST TIME WE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER UPON PICKING THE VEHICLE UP FOR A DUAL CLUTCH REPLACEMENT I WAS TOLD IT WOULD PROBABLY NEED TO GO BACK IN SOON AND BE REPLACED AGAIN. CAR JUMPS FROM 2000 RPM TO 7000 RPM IMMEDIATELY WHEN WANTING TO GO FROM 35 MPH TO 45 MPH AFTER BEING SLUGGISH AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65, THE CAR'S POWER BECOMES SO LOW IT ONLY GOES 40 MPH AND HAD TO PUT HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND GET OFF HIGHWAY. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BUT HAVE TO PUT FOOT ON BRAKE AND OTHER FOOT ON GAS IN CITY TRAFFIC ON HILL OR IT SLIDES BACK TO ALMOST HIT VEHICLE BEHIND ME. STEERING GOT SO TIGHT MULTIPLE TIMES AT 45 MPH AND ALL LIGHTS ON PANEL CAME ON AND CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF A MAJOR INTERSECTION AND HAD TO CALL POLICE TO ENSURE NOBODY HIT MY VEHICLE AND DIRECT OTHER TRAFFIC. DOOR LATCHES FAULTY, AS IN REGARDS TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE16001. LEFT FRONT DOOR LATCH FAILED, LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH FAILED ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN BOTH INSTANCES. DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE. HAD TO TIE SHUT TO DRIVE TO DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT OF LATCHES. AT TIME OF SECOND INCIDENT, SERVICE MANAGER SENT ME AN EMAIL STATING THAT FORD WAS NOW GOING TO BE REPLACING ALL DOOR LATCHES ON THIS MODEL WHEN ONE FAILED. HOWEVER, THIS WAS NOT DONE ON MY VEHICLE.

ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST FAILED AND I HAVE NO POWER STEERING
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY THE CAR STARTED TO COAST AND ENGINE WENT TO AN IDLE. THE INDICATOR FOR TRANSIMISSION POSITION WENT BLANK. I WAS NEARLY HIT BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. THE NEXT WEEK I WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND IT DID THE SAME THING AND WAS ALMOST BROADSIDED BY A DELIVERY VAN. THE CAR MOVED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THEN STOPPED FOR ALMOST 2 MINUTES. LATER DOWN THE ROAD IT CUT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN, TWICE MORE ON A SIDE STREET, AND THEN AGAIN AS I WAS NEAR THE DEALERSHIP. I TOOK IT DIRECT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PERFORMED A COMPUTER UPGRADE. I RECEIVED NO NOTICE OF THIS ISSUE FROM FORD. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED BY THIS AND NOW KNOW IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AT FORD. THEY NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE FOR ALL OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE AS IT HAPPENS SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING.

WHILE DRIVING, THE "DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPEN" ALARM CHIMES, THE LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF AND THE DOORS WILL NOT REMAIN LOCKED. THEY UNLOCK AND LOCK ON THEIR OWN WHILE DRIVING.
PURCHASED A 2012 FORD FOCUS IN DECEMBER OF 2014. THE TRANSMISSION HAS HAD SHIFTING ISSUES ALMOST THE ENTIRE TIME THAT I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE. IN MAY, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN STUTTERING AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN REACHING SPEED ON AN INTERSTATE ON-RAMP, THE VEHICLE SHOWED THE MESSAGE "VEHICLE NOT IN PARK" AND SHUT OFF AS I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. A DAY LATER WHEN DRIVING IT, IT STUTTERED AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT, ALONG WITH A DEFECTIVE PART NOTICE TO THE DEALER FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SYSTEM, WHICH THE DEALER SAID WAS THE ISSUE AND SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED IT UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER ALSO RESET THE "AUTOLEARN" FEATURE IN THE TRANSMISSION. FOR A FEW DAYS IT WORKED FINE, THEN THE STUTTERING AND SHIFTING ISSUES BEGAN AGAIN. ON AUGUST 8TH, 2015 THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE STORE, AND WORKED AS IT USUALLY DID, WITH MINOR STUTTERING AND GRINDING THAT APPEARS TO CHARACTERIZE THE FORD TRANSMISSION. IT WAS PARKED FOR ROUGHLY 30 MINUTES WHILE IN THE STORE, UPON STARTING AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT TURN OR GAIN ENOUGH POWER TO PROPEL THE CAR OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. AS IT ROLLED BACK, IT WAS SHIFTED INTO THE DRIVE POSITION, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PROPEL UNTIL IT WENT TO SHIFT AND THE CAR "MISSED" THE GEAR AND STUTTERED LOSING ALL MOMENTUM. THIS CONTINUED FROM EVERY START/STOP. STOPPED AT ANOTHER STORE, WHEN CAME BACK OUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START ON THE FIRST CRANK, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE POWER ISSUES TO THE TRANSMISSION ON TAKE OFF AND THE MISSING GEARS CONTINUED ALL THE WAY TO MY HOME.
WHILE AT A DEAD STOP MY CAR FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR, TWO TIMES. THE ENGINE WOULD REV AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN EXCEPT THAT THE "P-R-N-D-L" INDICATOR ON THE DASH WOULD FLASH. EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE STALLED AND COULDN'T BE RESTARTED FOR 10 MINUTES. THIS IS A SIGN OF OF A FAULTY TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE). 2011 & 2102 FORD FIESTAS AND 2012 FOCUS ARE PRONE TO THIS TYPE OF FAILURE. FORD REPLACED THE TCM UNDER THE EMMISSIONS WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. I HAVE SEEN POSTS ON THE WEB WHERE THIS FAILURE HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING.
CAR LOSES POWER WHEN IN DRIVE AT 20MPH ON STREET. PULLED OVER, TURNED ENGINE OFF. RESTARTED NORMALLY. NO PRIOR NOTIFICATION ON DASHBOARD. THE NEXT DAY WHILE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY CAR LOSES POWER. IT RESUMES ACCELERATION AFTER STALLING FOR APPROX 10 SECS. CHECK ENGINE SIGN APPEARS AFTER RESUMING ACCELERATION. I EXIT THE FREEWAY AND MAKE MY WAY BACK HOME. TRANSMISSION FAILS TWICE WHILE EN ROUTE ON FREEWAY. BOTH OCCASIONS I MANAGE TO MERGE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE WHILE IN NEUTRAL. ONCE IT RESUMED AFTER A FEW SECONDS, ANOTHER TIME I RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER TURNING IT OFF FOR APPROX 10 SECONDS. I TAKE IT TO BOB WONDRIES FORD IN ALHAMBRA FOR TCM REPLACEMENT. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS RESUME ONE WEEK LATER, WITH SLOW ACCELERATION ON FREEWAY, LOSS OF POWER WHEN DRIVING UPHILL, TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING, AND TRANSMISSION GRINDING.

THEN IT TURNED RED, LOCKED THE STEERING WHEEL AND SAID "STEERING LOSS STOP SAFETY". NOW THE CAR IS STUCK AND I AM ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD CALLING A TOW TRUCK. IT WENT TO THE MECHANIC WHO DID SOMETHING TO GET THE CAR TO WORK AGAIN, AND 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN THIS CYCLE REPEATED ITSELF. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES AS OF THE WRITING OF THIS MESSAGE. I AM SCARED TO GET BACK IN THE CAR AT THIS POINT AS I HAVE A NEWBORN AND DON'T WANT TO RISK IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. ON AUGUST 4, 2015 I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND WHEN I WENT TO TURN AT THE RED LIGHT, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THEN I HEARD A BEEPING SOUND. I LOOKED DOWN AT MY DASHBOARD AND A MESSAGED APPEARED. TRAFFIC WAS COMING SO I COULDN'T JUST STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. ONCE I GOT TO THE PARKING AREA I READ THE MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD AND IT DISPLAYED, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT." AS OF TODAY AUG 14, 2015 I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AND I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THERE'S NO RECALL ON THESES VEHICLES. I REFUSE TO PAY FOR ANY SERVICE BECAUSE MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE FORD COMPANY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR.
