LETTER FROM SENATOR ISAKSON ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2012 FORD FOCUS ISSUES. (ATTN: HANNA YU). *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD FOUR MAJOR REPAIRS AND 6-8 MINOR REPAIRS DONE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK. ALSO, WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED. *JB
THE VEHICLE HAS 5MPH AUTO DOOR LOCKS. WHEN YOU INITIALLY TAKE OFF THE DOORS ARE SUPPOSED TO LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHES 5MPH, THE DOORS ARE LOCKING AT 5MPH BUT THE HORN BLOWS TWICE DISTRACTING OTHER DRIVERS AND ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT. IT STARTED THIS ABOUT JULY OF 2015 AND CONTINUES TO DO THIS INTERMITTENTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR UNLOCKED AND OPENED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT RETURNING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. CRUISE CONTROL WON'T ENGAGE. SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK BUT MOST THE TIMES IT DOESN'T
TCM RECALL, I HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE SHOP GOING ON 3 TIMES NOW FOR THE SAME ISSUE. MY CAR IS LOOSING POWER, HESITATING TO GO INTO GEAR, AND SHUDDERING WHILE DRIVING. MY RADIO IS ALSO TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND DOES NOT FIX UNTIL I TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF. MY TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE ITS DRIVING. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND I HAVE STARTED THE STEPS TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD. I WANT TO DRIVE A SAFER CAR I FEEL LIKE IM RISKING ME AND MY PASSENGERS LIVES WHEN I DRIVE THIS CAR. I LOVE IT BUT I JUST WANT TO FEEL SAFE AND WANT TO FEEL LIKE MY AUTO COMPANY CARES ABOUT ITS DRIVERS. ONCE WHEN THEY FIRST FIXED THE TCM I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT AND GOT A TRANSMISSION ERROR MESSAGE AND THEY HAD TO COME TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. WHEN I PULL OFF AT A LIGHT MY CAR SHAKES UNTIL IT GETS TO 20MPH THEN IT STILL SHUDDERS A BIT UNTIL IT GETS ABOUT 50 MPH
THE STEERING LIGHT HAD COME ON BEFORE THEN WENT OFF BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL ENDED UP BEING ABLE TO MOVE. THIS HAPPENED ACOUPLE OTHER TIMES AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THEN WHEN IT FINALLY QUIT WORKING WAS WHEN I, THE OWNER, HAD PARKED IT TO GO INSIDE SOMEWHERE, THEN CAME OUT TO LEAVE AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PAY $1,245.00 TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEY HAD IT FOR 2 WEEKS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED. THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO MERGE THE VEHICLE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
DRIVING 2012 FORD FOCUS ON HIGHWAY JULY 29,2015. MILEAGE 41,100. WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED. WHILE DRIVING 55MPH, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER CAR OVER TO ROADSIDE. DASH MESSAGE READ STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE REQUIRED. ONCE STOPPED TURNED CAR OFF, THEN STARTED CAR AGAIN; STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. AFTER FIRST OCCURRENCE OF FAULTY STEERING, OTHERS BEGAN 3 DAYS LATER: JULY 2, 2015; STEERING LOCKED AFTER PULLING INTO PARKING LOT,SLOW SPEED; TURNED CAR OFF, STARTED UP,STEERING WORKED AGAIN JULY 6, 2015, STEERING LOCKED ON START-UP; THIS OCCURRED TWICE AFTER TURNING OFF/ON. JULY 6, 2015, TOOK CAR INTO DEALER(NORTHSTAR FORD IN DULUTH MN), WHERE I BOUGHT CAR NEW. NORTHSTAR TOOK CARE OF ANOTHER RECALLTRANSMISSION, REPORTEDLY REPROGRAMMED. UPON NORTHSTAR INSPECTION, DEALER SAID POWER STEERING WAS WORKING FINE, BUT FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED CAR NEEDS A WHOLE NEW STEERING RACK, TO COST ME $2,300 TO REPAIR (STATED THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED, NO RECALL ON THIS MODEL). I DECLINED REPAIR, AFTER PAYING $100+ FOR DIAGNOSIS. I FELT STRONGLY THAT THIS IS A CLEAR DEFECTION IN 2012 FORD FOCUS. AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF 2012 FOCUS STEERING MALFUNCTIONS, AS WELL AS REPORTS OF NHTSA CLOSELY FOLLOWING THE 2012 FOCUS STEERING ISSUES AND CALIFORNIA CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILING FOR FORD FOCUS 20102-2014. DRIVING LITTLE AS POSSIBLE HOPING NHTSA WILL ISSUE RECALL ON THE STEERING PROBLEM SOON. JULY 7, 2015; AFTER PARKING, STEERING LOCKED UP WHEN PULLING OUT. TURNED OFF AND ON TWICE BEFORE STEERING WORKED. HAVEN'T DRIVEN SINCE JULY 7. WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY, AS WELL AS DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS OF OTHER FORDS ON THE ROAD, TAKING LIVES INTO THEIR HANDS IN EVENT OF ON-ROAD EMERGENCY, REQUIRING QUICK ACTION,OPERATIONAL STEERING. HOPEFUL NHTSA TAKES URGENT MESSAGES SERIOUSLY, & ISSUES STEERING RECALL ON THE FORD FOCUS 2012 .

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT 0700. I WENT INTO A CURVE AND THE ROAD WAS WET.I WAS GOING 57 MPH IN A 55 MPH ZONE. I BRAKED TO LATE. I SLED OFF THE ROAD AND WENT AIRBORNE. FROM WHERE I WENT AIRBORNE AND TO WHERE I LANDED I WENT 293 FT. (PER STATE TROOPER) THEY SAY I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. I FLIPPED MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE IS DAMAGE ALL OVER THE CAR. LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE AND HOW I WENT HEAD FIRST INTO THE HILLSIDE CAUSING THE FLIP MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HIT A TREE WHILE I WAS IN THE AIR. MY SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. I WANT TO UPLOAD A PICTURE BUT I SEE I'M UNABLE TO.
IT'S LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT AND THEN THAT HESITATION YOU FEEL AND IT'LL KICK IN,? DRIVING DOWN THE STREET TRANSMISSION WILL STOP WORKING. THERE IS NEVER ANY WARNING SIGNS. VERY DANGEROUS. DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ARE GOING UP AN HILL OR DRIVING FLAT ROAD AND SPEED HAS NO FACTOR EITHER. THEN THE CAR WILL TURN OFF ON ITS OWN. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WITH FORD FOCUS. EVERY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUE. FORD FOCUS 2012 IS A LEMON....... NOW FAMILY CAN'T RIDE IN THIS CAR. NOT SAFE! IT JUST SITS AT HOME. *TR
CAR JUST SIMPLY STOPPED MOVING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. DIAGNOSTIC LIGHT READ TRANSMISSION FAILURE. CAR HAD TO BE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LUCKILY IT WAS A RURAL ROAD AND THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO TRAFFIC OR MY CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A CRASH FROM BEING STRUCK FROM BEHIND. I UNDERSTAND THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS. IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE OR THEIR CHILD BEING HURT OR KILLED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM
THE SPEAKERS MAKE A LOUD POP AND THE RADIO GOES COMPLETELY OUT. I TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART AND THE RADIO WORKS HOWEVER, THE THIS IS HAPPENING ONCE A WEEK NOW. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE ANY ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND/OR THE RADIO AND TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE RADIO FOR APPROXIMATELY $800. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY 2012 FOCUS AND AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT, I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE IN THE FUTURE.
THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND SLIPS ON ACCELERATION FROM STOPS. THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS ON AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT. VEHICLE JERKS WHEN SHIFTING.
FIRST INCIDENT TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, AS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GEARS, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR. SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO GEAR DOES NOT WORK. PULLED VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER, PUT INTO PARK, TURN OFF THE ENGINE. ENGINE WILL NOT START, NO CRANK. LET VEHICLE SIT FOR A MINUTE, RETRY STARTING, VEHICLE RUNS NORMALLY. NEXT INCIDENT AROUND 2 WEEKS LATER. SIMILAR EXPERIENCE, BUT TRAVELLING APPROX 75 MPH ON HIGHWAY. REQUIRED TO PULL OVER, RESTART VEHICLE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AT RESTART AND ENGINE RUNNING AT LOWER RPM THAN NORMAL IN ALL GEARS. VEHICLE RESTS OVERNIGHT, RUNS NORMALLY WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. SUBSEQUENT INCIDENTS INCREASE IN FREQUENCY, WITHOUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. SIMPLY NEED TO PULL OVER, RESTART VEHICLE. MOST FREQUENTLY OCCURS WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. 6TH OR 7TH INCIDENT, ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THE INITIAL INCIDENT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. VEHICLE SERVICE SCHEDULED BUT NOT YET PERFORMED DUE TO BACKLOG OF TRANSMISSION SERVICE REPAIRS AT FORD SERVICE CENTER.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. ENGINE WAS REVVING UP BUT TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING. IT WAS AS IF I HAD SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE OPENING THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR; HOWEVER, IT WOULD NOT LATCH AND REMAINED CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS INOPERABLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
ELECTRONIC POWER-ASSISTED STEERING (EPAS) FAILURE DUE TO RACK-AND-PINION STEERING DEFECT. REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK-AND-PINION MODULE, WHICH COST $1,700, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS WIDELY KNOWN AND DANGEROUS DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED OR RECALLED BY FORD AND MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2012 FORD FOCUS SE, WHEN THE STEERING ASSIST SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND HE LOST STEERING. HE PULLED OFF THE ROAD WITH NO INCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT IS A BAD STEERING RACK, $1500.00
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 2 MONTHS THAT I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR'S TRANSMISSION. NOT ONLY DOES IT STUTTER WHEN SHIFTING AND TAKE TIME TO ACCELERATE, BUT NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING. IN APRIL, THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED ACCELERATING, ALMOST RESULTING IN A CRASH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS A TRANSMISSION CENSOR AND COST WAS PAID OUT OF POCKET. THIS TIME, THE CAR BEGAN JERKING AND THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT FLASHED. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND BECAUSE OF THE VIOLENT JERKING ALMOST WRECKED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS TODAY. CONSIDERING THIS CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS AND I CONSIDER IT UNRELIABLE AND A HAZARD TO MY FAMILY AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.
WHILE DRIVING HOME, I CAME TO A STOP BEHIND A CAR AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. IT WAS AS IF THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND I WAS STEPPING ON THE GAS. THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF ME. I HAD TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF MY CAR WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE CAR. NO LATER THAN 15 MINUTES LATER WHILE ON A HILL BY MY APARTMENT, THE CAR ONCE AGAIN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IF I HADN'T PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AS QUICK AS I DID, IT WOULD'VE ROLLED BACK ON THE CAR BEHIND ME. I HAVE HAD 3 TRANSMISSION RELATED ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND 2 INCIDENCES PRIOR TO TODAY THAT INVOLVED ENDANGERING MY LIFE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD 3 TIMES IN ONE YEAR. THIS CAR IS INDEED A SAFETY HAZARD AND WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND LAWSUITS, NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT INTO PARK IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
VEHICLE LEAKS COOLANT AFTER BEING PARKED IN GARAGE FOR NO REASON. NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN LEAVING AND FINDING A HUGE PUDDLE UNDER CAR AND DRIP SPOTS FROM MOVING THE CAR. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD THE COOLING RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS OPENED INDEPENDENTLY AND FAILED TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE CORDS TO SECURE THE DOORS IN PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

ONCE RESTARTED, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,800.
THE FIRST TIME, THE POWER STEERING FAILED ON MY DAUGHTER'S 2012 FOCUS WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING RACK REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND FORD CLAIMED THERE WAS NO KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS. LESS THAN 10,000 MILES LATER IT HAS FAILED AGAIN, LUCKILY THIS TIME THE CAR WAS MOVING SLOWLY ON CITY STREETS, STILL FORD CLAIMS THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THIS. EVEN AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND INFORMATION FLOODING THE INTERNET ABOUT IT AND A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT BEING FILED, THEY STILL CLAIM THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. SADLY, IT APPEARS THAT SINCE DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES, THE DEATH QUOTA HAS NOT BEEN DOCUMENTED ENOUGH TO REQUIRE A RECALL. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT IF THIS FAILURE HAPPENED ON A RURAL ROAD WITH SHARP CURVES, AN ACCIDENT WOULD BE ALMOST UNAVOIDABLE. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS REGARDING THIS AND THEY CONTINUE TO DENY ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE FOCUS, ALL THE WHILE RECALLING MULTIPLE OTHER CARS WITH THE SAME STEERING ASSEMBLY.
I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE 16-18 TIMES FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE SYNC AND THE TRANSMISSION SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR. I HAVE HAD BOTH THE SYNC MODULE AND THE TRANSMISSION MODULE RESET REPEATEDLY AND FINALLY REPLACED. I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED TWICE IN TWO YEARS. THE WORSE INCIDENT AND THE REASON FOR THE SECOND CLUTCH WAS BECAUSE THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 45 MILES AN HOUR DOWN A VERY BUSY TWO LANE CITY ROAD. SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS FOR FOCUS 2012 TWO YEARS AGO, THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY STALL OUT AND STOP WORKING ENTIRELY. I AM 6 MONTHS PREGNANT AND AFTER BRINGING THIS CAR IN FOR NUMEROUS REPAIRS OF THIS ISSUE, WITH NO REAL RESOLVE, I AM NOW FURIOUS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND MY ENGINE SAID "PARKING ASSIST FAILURE" AND THE CAR DIED. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY MULTIPLE CARS AS I TRIED TO COAST MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT STARTED AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I COULD BRING IT IN "BUT THEY ALREADY FIXED IT." THEN JUST A FEW DAYS LATER I AM AT A BUSY INTERSECTION, AND IT STALLS AGAIN..THIS TIME WONT TURN BACK ON. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND FROM FORD, AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AND I NEED OUT OF THIS CAR. I HAVE ALWAYS DRIVEN VOLKSWAGON'S, AND THIS WAS MY FIRST FORD. NEVER AGAIN. MEANWHILE, I AM UNDERWATER ON MY CAR LOAN NOW, BECAUSE I HAVE A CAR THAT IS WORTH NOTHING.
I HAVE A FORD FOCUS 2012 IT HAS POWER LOCK ON THE DOORS. 3 DOORS LOCK WITH THE REMOTE JUST FINE THE DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT WONT EVEN CLOSE. IT OPENS WHEN I TURN CORNERS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUES ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN, THIS CAR HAS HAD TWO RECALL FIXES ONE WITH CAR ROLLING BACK EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC AND A TRANSMISSION FAILURE ALL DUE TO ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I FEEL THAT THE THIS IS ANOTHER ONE GIVEN THAT MY PASSENGER LEFT REAR DOOR CANT EVEN BE MANUALLY LOCKED ITS ONLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED ELECTRICALLY, THERE IS NOTHING BLOCKING THE DOOR TO MAKE IT NOT CLOSE ONLY THE LOCK ITSELF.
I WAS DRIVING MY FORD FOCUS ONE MORNING IN REVERSE AFTER PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. WHEN I WENT BACK T DRIVE AND STARTED ACCELERATING THE CAR DIDN'T ACCELERATE. I GOT THE ERROR LIGHT SAYING " SERVICE CAR IMMEDIATELY" I FINALLY GOT THE CAR HOME (THANKFUL I WAS ONLY A FEW HUNDRED YARDS AWAY). CAR HAS SINCE BEEN INCREDIBLY SHAKY AND SPORADIC WITH THE ACCELERATION. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO AUTO ZONE FOR A ENGINE TEST AND WAS INFORMED THE CAR HAS BEEN GETTING STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. ITS CLEARLY SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TERRIBLY DESIGNED TRANSMISSION THAT FORD DID.
ENTERING EXPRESSWAY THE CAR LOST POWER. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN BUT THERE WAS NO DRIVE TRAIN. THIS CAUSE A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AS THERE WAS NO NOTICE AT ALL. I WAS ALMOST HIT IN THE REAR DUE TO THIS. I COASTED TO THE SIDE AND SHUT DOWN THE CAR AND RESTARTED. THE CAR WENT INTO GEAR AND I STARTED DRIVING. LESS THAN AN A MILE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I CONTINUED TO STAY I THE RIGHT LANE AND DROVE SLOWLY. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER THAT HAS PERFORMED ALL THE WORK ON THIS CAR AND TOLD THEM I WAS BRINGING IT IN. DURING MY TRIP TO THE DEALER (AKINS FORD WINDER GA.) THE CONDITION HAPPENED 12 MORE TIMES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID COME ON AS WELL AS A NOTICE SAYING THAT THE "HILL ASSIST WAS NOT AVAILABLE" . I HAVE HAD THIS CAR RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR RECALL RELATED TO TRANSMISSION ISSUES AS NOTIFIED BY FORD. THIS ALSO APPEARS TO BE A BIG ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

DOOR LATCHES ON THE FORD FOCUSES HAVE A TENDENCY TO BREAK WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I OPENED MY REAR LEFT DOOR TO DEPOSIT SOMETHING IN THE BACKSEAT, TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, AND I REALIZED IT WOULDN'T SHUT BECAUSE THE DOOR LATCH HAD BROKEN. LUCKILY, I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT, BUT I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED THE ENTIRE WAY BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY WAY TO WIRE IT SHUT. IT POSED A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL, WHICH I PURCHASED USED, FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP IN OCTOBER 2013. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AGO (EARLY MAY 2015), UPON TURNING ON MY VEHICLE, MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE AND WOULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE "POWER ASSIST STEERING FAULT." I WOULD HAVE TO TURN OF MY CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON IN ORDER FOR THE STEERING TO BEGIN WORKING. THIS BECAME MORE AND MORE FREQUENT AS THE MONTH WENT ON (SOMETIMES HAVING TO TURN MY CAR OFF AN ON 2-4 TIMES FOR IT TO BEGIN WORKING). ON MAY 26, 2015 I WENT TO TURN MY CAR ON AND MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING COMPLETELY QUIT WORKING. I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION THAT TWICE MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SHUT OFF WHEN I WAS DRIVING, BUT BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEED, SO I ABLE TO STOP THE CAR QUICKLY TO FIX THE PROBLEM (TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON). MY CAR HAS ALREADY BEEN GIVEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AS THE RESULT OF A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, SO I CANNOT RULE OUT THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A DEFECT AS WELL (ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE OTHER FORD RECALLS FOR THE EPS SHUTTING OFF).
DRIVER WINDOW WORKED ONLY INTERMITTENTLY AND THEN CEASED ALTOGETHER. HAD THE SWITCH REPLACED. NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW IS EXHIBITING THE SAME EARLY SYMPTOMS. IT TOOK ONLY ONE WEEK FOR THE FIRST WINDOW TO FAIL, SO IT PROBABLY WON'T BE LONG BEFORE WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE SECOND.

I PULLED OVER AND TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED AT ALL. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND ENDED UP "SEAT-BELTING" THE DOOR SHUT. I FEEL THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. ON SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2015, I WAS TRAVELING EAST ON INTERSTATE 40, MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE. SUDDENLY THE GAS PEDAL BUMPED TWICE AND MY VEHICLE WENT COMPLETELY DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS BUSY INTERSTATE. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM JUST DIED, MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS WOULDN,T EVEN WORK. IALL I COULD DO WAS CONTINUE TO LAY ON THE HORN AND WAVE MY HAND OUT THE WINDOW TRYING TO GET THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO REALIZE MY CAR HAD STOPPED. MY HUSBAND TOLD ME TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED BETWEEN 7:30 AND 8:15 IN THE EVENING. MY HUSBAND ARRIVED ON SCENE AND WE PLANNED TO RETURN IN THE MORNING WITH A BATTERY HOPING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. I AM CURRENTLY UNEMPLOYED SINCE 03/15/2015, I COULDN'T AFFORD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. I DO NOT THINK THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE BATTERY, I THINK IT WAS A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MARCH, 2013 AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. EVERY PROBLEM I'VE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS IN FACT AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS DEFECTIVE AND MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE WARRANTY ON THE CLUTCH WAS EXTENDED TO 100,000 MILES. I HAVE A MESSAGE SCREEN ON THIS CAR. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS GIVEN TO ME. I DEFINITELY FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!
